Pros And Cons Of Hearsay Testimony
When a crime is committed, one of the most important evidences for convincing jurors to make the
decision is witness evidence. Witnesses in crimes have also been a crucial part on determining the
final verdict. However, child witness testimony should not be allowed due to the harm that it
inflicts on children. The article between a rock and a hard place: Why hearsay testimonymay be a
necessary evil in child sexual abuse cases by Watters, T., Brineman, J., Wright, S. compares the
positive and negative of using hearsay testimony instead of child testimony. The authors argues that
the benefits outweighs the cost.
Personally, I agree with the author s argument of the pros outweighing the cons when it comes to
hearsay testimony. The negatives to child witness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the child has to face with the defendant of the crime who may possibly have been
guilty. In addition, the defense attorney will question the child or even accused of the child on
fabricating abuse (Watters, Brineman Wright, 2007). Furthermore, the traumatization faced by the
child may cost psychological damages in the near future. In the study by Wolfman, M., Brown,
D., Jose, P. (2016), 27 trained child witness interviewers are brought into the study as participants.
Half of the participants works full time and the average experience is 5.2 years. The study found
that depending on the relationship with the defendant and the severity of the damaged caused to
the child, the responses to the questions will be effected due to increase in anxiety and
intimidation (Wolfman, Brown Jose, 2016). Since the child has to go through multiple interviews
before trail such as caretaker, police or social services, the risk may increase. The effect of multiple
trails compared to single trails can lead to more negative effects on mental health, children

Success Of Building High Performing Teams
Success in building high performing teams in any organisation has huge benefits for the business,
its Customers, the teams and for each team member. To achieve success in team building, it is
important to have a tight focus on the objectives and goals, as well as on the benefits of team
building for that specific business or workplace.
The Overall Objectives
Some think this is about playing silly games, or indulging in expensive and irrelevant out of work
activities. The managers or business people who believe this will quickly dismiss the concept as a
total waste of money and energy. Others who have problems in their workplace with conflict in
groups, poor performance or demotivated staff may see team building as positive, but as an ... Show

It is at this stage that team building activities will help bind them.
2.To align them to their shared purpose, goals and targets
3.To establish a positive team culture, the beliefs, values and norms of behaviour
4.To establish the role of the leader
The Objectives at the Second Stage
Some of the initial objectives will continue through to this stage, but other goals will be introduced
to develop the team further. This stage is called the Storming stage, where members may challenge
their shared purpose, the leadership or the norms of behaviour.
The objectives at this stage are:
1.To keep them aligned to their purpose and goals
2.To develop good working relationships between all members, giving them experience of working
with different team members
3.To nurture shared problem solving and generating new ideas
4.To introduce processes so that they work effectively together e.g. daily huddles, flash problem
solving meetings, regular state of play meetings, communication systems etc.
5.To establish clear short term goals and methods for celebrating achievement and milestones
The Objectives at the Third Stage
When the team has worked through the Storming stage, they will have become closer, and will
have a deep sense of working together to achieve their shared purpose. This stage is called the
Norming stage, where they work well together and has effective processes and systems.

Women Of The Buddhist Societies
In Buddhist societies, women were seen as inferior to men. They were marginalized in early
Buddhist societies and had many limitations placed on their spiritual enlightenment. They were
not permitted to become bodhisattvas and forced to instead become nuns. They were also
looked down upon because of their strong attachments to worldly things. Although they were
marginalized, women still felt a strong spiritual bond to the religion that it was worth the
discrimination to obtain the spiritual gain from the Buddhist society. Seeing these problems of
how women were viewed and treated we might question in what ways were they marginalized
socially in early Buddhist societies? In terms of marginalization, we might look at many
different forms, but for the purpose of this paper we are going to focus on social
marginalization. This typically means that women were mistreated and looked down upon
because of their gender. In what follows we will briefly look at a few scholarly articles in
support of the claim that women were marginalized socially in early Buddhist societies. We are
going to look at not only the practices of Buddhist societies but also the beliefs and how the beliefs
related to the practices. We are going to focus on the views in Buddhismfrom around six BCE
throughout the first century. In Charles Keyes article Mother or Mistress but Never a Monk, Keys
summarizes how women were viewed as less than men because of their attachments left to the
world, so

Corporate Capacity And Authority
Corporate capacity and authority were essential legal concepts which contained rules for when
and how a company ought to be legally recognised as having validly acted and entered into a
binding contract with third parties. Broadly speaking, the rules which applied to corporate
capacity were the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice. In regard to the
concept of corporate authority, both the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice
also applied however their application was curtailed by the Turquand rule. The Turquand rule
therefore only applied when the authority of directors was in question. A definitional overview of
the concepts of corporate capacity and authority will be provided below, along with brief
description of the doctrine of constructive notice and the Turquand rule. The thesis deals with the
above concepts and discusses how the Companies Act 71 of 2008 (the Act) modified the law,
particularly, by extending the legal capacity of a company and extinguishing or modifying the
above rules which had previously restricted a company s ability... Show more content on

a valid contract concluded in order to create legally binding obligations enforceable between the

capacity to enter into the contract and the directors or officers representing the company must have
the authority to act on its behalf. Within company law, capacity and authority are interrelated

Persuasive Essay On Perfect College
Someone once said, Never base your life decision on advice from people who don t have to deal
with the results. Choosing which college you should attend is a stressful, arduous, exciting, and
terrifying process filled with endless conundrums and choices. However, the end result, the college
that provides oneself with the best education, career opportunities, and general satisfaction, is well
worth the mental and physical toll that the search takes on an individual. So, how do you
circumvent the twists and turns of fate and determine your dream school? The answer is rather
simple: do it yourself. In the end, you are the one going to college, not your parent, teacher,
grandparent, brother, sister, the guy behind the computer making the college rankings, or anyone
else. Though your decision may be influenced by a variety of sources, it is your responsibility to
walk your own fulfilling and enriching path. Consequently, the best way to determine your perfect
college match is to drown out the rankings and do your own research, research that considers every
factor that is important to you.
In 1983, U.S. News World Report recognized that prospective college students yearned for some
type of sign that would point them to their dream school, and U.S. News World Report granted
those students their wish with the first installment of the U.S. News World Report College Ranking.
Since 1983, the popularity of the Ranking has ballooned to a ridiculous height. In fact, on September

The Events Of Temperance Movement
Part 1: The Event; Temperance Movement
Second Great Awakening was not focused simply on promotion individual conversions; it was
also intended to reform human society, which was said by Lyman Beecher a champion of
evangelic Christian revivalism (Tindall and Shi 508). The United States, which was known for a
nation of separation and church and state was swept with religious revivals during 1790 to 1830s
known as the Second Great Awakening. From the Second Great Awakening in 1842, the United
States was filled with different reform movement which was led by dreamers and activists who saw
social injustice or immorality in the American society and wanted to fight to correct the sinful
events that s been happening (Tindall and Shin 528 529). One of the most widespread from all the
reform movement that spread around the 19th and 20th century was the temperance movement due
it being the common social problem in the United States. The Temperance movement was an
organized effort to encourage moderation in the consumption of intoxicating liquors or press for
complete abstinence (Chancellor). The temperance movement establishes due to the amount of
alcohol an individual was consuming, it also brought different society and organization to help
spread the word about the evil in consuming alcohol which was mainly established by women s,
which gave a rise to women s rights by them expressing theirs considers on alcohol. It also gives a

Technology Reflection
I would like to start with thanking you, this course detailed the importance of technology and
how it influences my everyday life. Technology has always been involved in my upbringing. I
noticed as I grew technology advanced. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to technology at
an early age. As I grew technology got more intricate and I lost interest in advances. My vision of
technology differs from the moment I walked out of our first class. I find it truly important to
know the history or better yet, evolution of technology, because it is so essential for the now and
the future. The assigned readings helped me better understand the different perspectives of
technology. At first I did not pay too much mind to social media. I recall a moment during a
week without social media, where I realized that social media is an addiction. Those cleverly
computed applications called my name on my screen, bouncing to be opened and I never
stopped to think of the real purpose of them. I knew that social media was entertaining and that it
is useful to gather information on fictional characters with picture perfect lives. I also knew that
it was beneficial but I noticed that I used it for all the wrong reasons. after the week long teaser, I
realized that social media serves no real purpose other than as a pass time. Like in Putnam s
Bowling Alone , technology serves as a distraction and I truly did not come to that realization up
until the assignment. I overly quote Putnam s text to many

Comparing A Dollhouse And Long DayпїЅs House And A Doll s Night
Whether it s wife vs husband, parent vs child, or brother vs brother, people s wills inevitably
oppose each other. Besides their play format, A Doll s House and Long Day s Journey Into
Night share the similar conflict of man versus man, mostly within a family. The Helmers
marriage is traditional for the late 19th century; Torvald works at a bank and manages the family
s finances while Nora cares for the house affairs and plays with her young children. In O Neill s
novel, the Tyrones cheerfully eat breakfast together but as the day progresses, the unified family
crumbles at the hands of substance abuse and difficult memories. By interacting with other
characters, Nora and the Tyrones are forced to accept the truth about their place in the houses
hierarchies. Chirpy Nora Helmer of A Doll s House begins the story coaxing her husband Torvald
to gift her money for Christmas, hinting to the audience that she has a questionable fascination with
money (Ibsen 3). Similarly, she raises suspicion about the sincerity of their happy marriagewhen she
lies about snacking on macaroons, something so insignificant that it would be pointless to lie
unless she did not trust him (Ibsen 4). Later in Act I, an old friend Mrs. Christine Linde visits,
shares her troubles, and calls Nora naive because she has a seemingly perfect life with her
husband, children, and tasteful home, to which Nora counters with the secret responsibility she
has had to bear (Ibsen 10). Years ago Nora forged her dying father s signature to illicitly borrow
funds for her husband to recover from illness in warm Italy. To repay the burdensome debt to
Krogstad who harasses and blackmails her, Nora privately accumulates money through manual
work and her allowances from Torvald, who would find it painful and humiliating...with his manly
independence, to know that he owed [Nora] anything (Ibsen 12). At the threat of snitching,
Krogstad blackmails Nora to keep his job safe from her husband, the bank manager. Once Nora
actively wants her husband to recognize her crime, Krogstad is no longer the antagonist Torvald is.
Thus, Christine and Krogstad agree to marry each other as equals with complementary needs
without a husband, mother, or children to take care of,

Le Sacre Du Printemps ( The Rite Of Spring )
Le Sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring)
Igor Stravinsky was born June 17, 1882 in Oranienbaum, Russia. While studying law, Nicolai
Rimsky Korsakov, a Russian composer and the most influential member of the composer group
known as The Five. Korsakov allegedly told him he should study music. He continued to study
under Korsakov his death in 1908. Stravinsky never had another teacher but caught the likes of
many Russian composers like Sergei Diaghilev, impresario of the famed Ballets Russes, who
allowed him to compose a ballet. Among his other compositions nothing compared to his next one
under Diaghilev. The result was the voluptuous and impressionistic, The Firebirdin 1910, and later
in 1911, Petrushka. His next ballet would ignite the most famous riot in the history of music. With
its savage rhythms, absence of melody, and barbaric energy, The Rite of Springmarks the true
beginnings of Twentieth Century music, and even today never fails to thrill or amaze listeners
(Sherrane).
While he was composing The Firebird, Stravinsky had a sudden visual idea, a scene of pagan
ritual in which a chosen sacrificial virgin danced herself to death. Naturally such an image invites
the creation of a ballet to bring the dance to life. However, before put the vision to reality he had
another vision about a sassy yet sad little puppet from Russian street fairs; Petrushka. Eventually,
the ancient images of Russia would come back to him and would enjoy the popularity of people all

Concussion And Margin Call
From the moment we are born, there are certain values that are taught and instilled in us by our
families and friends to become moral individuals. The concept of morality deals with the different
decisions we make every single day of our lives, and the kind impact they may have on someone.
With regard to this concept, Concussion and Margin Call are two movies that exemplify characters
that undergo extreme pressure to make moral decisions and judgements. In the movie Concussion,
Dr. Bennet Omalu faces lots of criticism for his studies and findings. While finishing medical
school in Nigeria, he came to the United States as an immigrant to work as a medical examiner.
Through his hard work and research, he discovered that many players in the

Julian Of Margery Kempe
Although historians have preserved her work, Julian of Norwich adopted her name from the church
in which she lived as an anchoress. The fact that a name beyond her individual self marks her
legacy seems fitting for the anchoress whose devotion to God and to Holy Church marked her
entire life. Even when her beliefs struck discord with the doctrines of the church; Julian professed
that contradictions were nothing of substance but simply a symptom of the lack of humankind s
comprehension. Her nurturing theologyprofessed a Godof profound love in a time of great
heartache. Despite her life in an anchorhold, It seems that the walls of Julian s cell did not
separate her from the outside world; her appearance in The Book of Margery Kempe proves that

As the oldest source of early Chinese
medicine theory, the Nei Jing has naturally undergone
many centuries of interpretations and
revisions from later thinkers and Chinese physician
authors since its inception back in the Han dynasty (206 BC). Hence it is both preserved,

Ming and Qing Dynasties New Developments in Medical Theory Between the Ming and Qing
Dynasties (1368 1840) China underwent a series of significant
 transitions, most notably from
feudal society (Ming dynasty) to a form of commodity based economy (latter part of the Qing
dynasty) as the result of widespread restructuring of the central and local governments. Taxes were
levied, land was reclaimed and the cultivation of export crops such as hemp and cotton was
encouraged, thus paving the way for commercial trade to flourish.
This period of change and growth made way for new developments in science, technology,

Residual Online Income and HubPages Essay
Residual Online Income and HubPages HubPages is a residual online income site that lets you
earn money from your writing. You do so by creating hubs (articles), which are just pages full of
written content, photos, videos, polls, quizzes and last but certainly not least advertising. When
you sign up and become a Hubber, as the members of HubPages are affectionately called, you are
allowed to start publishing hubs. The way you earn residual online income is by sharing a portion

rather than be subjected to this convoluted 60/40 system. It seems like Hubbers would need to
monitor their affiliate accounts very closely and perform due diligence. It s not that I don t trust
HubPages for residual online income, but I m no babe in the woods, either. It wouldn t surprise
me if HubPages were tilting the 40% in its favor during peak traffic times, etc. Rest assured that
I will scrutinize HubPages and its impression splits on my own accounts. When it comes to
residual online income, I confess to having a bit of a negative attitude toward HubPages. Yet I
knew from the beginning that I didn t understand why. Perhaps it was hearing the sob story about
my friend making zero money on her hubs, of which there are only four. Maybe it was reading
somewhere that HubPages recently got a Google smackdown and then noticing that the site
registered a lower PR (Google PageRank) than before. Or possibly it was the daunting, unfamiliar
territory of impression splitting and affiliate links: the comparatively byzantine approach to
generating money that the site doesn t directly pay. Whatever the reason, I must admit I never gave
HubPages a fighting chance. Recently, I ve done a bit

Unit 11 Assignment 2 Cardiovascular And Transport Systems
Unit 11 Assignment 2: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems M2. Explain the need for a
transport system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms:
Unicellular organism Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a
single celled organism (one cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving
different substances in and out of other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in
comparison to its volume; this is because each organism is built for a specific function. However,
they transport materials such as oxygen and urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and
osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is consists of more than one cell, it has a small
surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its structure is specialised to do more than
one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs, and transporting systems. Its
transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from one place to another. Why
do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is because the single
celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they have a large
surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they are
known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane.
This also means that they are able to diffuse

External Pressure On Public Administration
After reading through the syllabus, there appear to be many direct linkages between this course and
the previous courses that I have participated in. The first module focuses on external pressures on
public administration. I learned about external forces on public administrators in Introduction to
Public Administration, and Managing Change in the 21st Century. Though Introduction to Public
Administrationonly gave a vague overview of external pressures, Managing Change gave greater
detail on how there are forces outside of government, including citizens, interest groups and private
sector companies who all will influence the decision making process. These same courses also
focused on the internal pressures within organizations and government that will also impact the
decision making processes of public administrators. Budgeting is also a topic that I have experience
with. Budgeting in the public sector is entirely different than budgeting in the private sector. Lastly,
my previous public administration courses emphasized the importance of performance expectation
and improvement. Efficiency and effectiveness is a goal that public administrators everywhere
should work towards. Of my previous public administration courses, there are two courses that
made a significant impact on me. Ethics and Policy Administration, and Personnel Administration
in the Public Sector were my favorite courses. I enjoyed the Ethics and Public policy course,

What I Was A Salesman
No sooner then did I arrive home from class, I received a call from what I assumed was a
salesman. It was in fact, a salesman, but was for instead something I had already bought. The call
regarded a custom shirt I had ordered online. A T shirt with a blocky cartoon drawing of Otto von
Bismarck on it. The operator on the phone told me that the company could not print me the shirt
because the image was copyrightof some artist who sold the design on another website. I tried
explaining that I had taken reference from probably the same image but I had changed it to be
another art style. This however was not good enough for them, and thus had canceled my order.
After spending what felt like an hour scouring Google I finally found the shirt that I was
apparently infringing upon . It was located on an obviously outdated website and at first
displayed no price. After adding it to the cart to see if I could find a checkout price, I was
directed to a page saying the shirts are no longer available as of 2008. If I could not buy one
legally , or by the rules what am I to do? As a consumer of the twenty first century capitalist free
market society, there will always be a way to secure merchandise one way or another through
relatively easy, and legal means. Then, the bigger picture hit me. Why is it that the face of a
person of historical significance is copyrighted by someone who makes t shirts and then refuses to
sell them? .

External Influences on the Accounting Profession
External Influences on the Accounting Profession The Accounting profession is distinguished by
the heavy demand placed upon its practitioner to adhere to laws, standards, regulations and best
practices. Any failure to do so may result in financial loss, economic oversights and even legal
penalties. As a result, it is incumbent upon the accounting professional to recognize and abide the
external influences that help to define the field. Distinct political, economic and cultural factors
converge to define practice within the accounting profession. Today, accountants are subject to the
same global economic changes that are impacting professional in every sector. With the
deconstruction of global barriers, a whole new host of economic realities must drive accounting
decisions, requiring knowledge of the economic practices not just in a domestic country of
operation but also in a partner state or states. This combines with pointed domestic pressures
emerging from political systems such as that in the United States. Quite to this point, a panel called
the Investors Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC), according to Reuters (2009), roundly

Essay on France s Welfare System
The welfare system in France is founded on the principle of solidarity. Solidarity is sense of the
responsibility of the individuals in the society to help each other out. This is all for the common
good (Spicker). In order to promote solidarity, France has a welfare system that includes universal
entitlements, social insurance, means tested public assistance, and tax expenditures programs. One
aspect of the French welfare system is universal entitlements. One universal entitlement under the
French welfare system is health insurance. Every citizen in Frances is able to have healthcare
insurance. For those citizens that are employed, the employer and employee both finance the
insurance. However, the government pays for the health care of... Show more content on

However, this assistance ends once the child becomes three years old (Evans 1997). Means test
public assistance is one way the French promote the principle of solidarity. Social insurance is
also a different facet of the welfare system in France. One example of social insurance is
unemployment insurance. If one loses their job, the person receives 35% of the income that he
or she received while employed. For those that are unable to work due to age or disabilities, the
government has an assistance program in place. The French also have a pension system that is
similar to Social Security in the United States. The system is a pay as you go one. Both the
employer and employee give to this pension fund. Once the individual is old enough, he or she
will receive this retirement money (Wingert). One more feature the French welfare state is tax
expenditure programs. An example of a tax expenditure that is found in France is a tax benefit
for married couples. There are many more established tax expenditures; one of which is for those
with children. In fact, there are so many tax expenditures that France spends over 0.5% of its
gross domestic product on tax breaks just towards the family. Tax expenditures programs are
another part the France s welfare system (Bentolila 2011). Like most wealthy countries, France
was affected by the Great Recession; however, France was not hit as hard as

Similarities Between Stand By Me And Away By Michael Gow
Introduction
The two dramatic texts, the drama Away by Michael Gow and the film stand by me directed by
Rob Reiner explore many types of discoveries were presented and explored by the author and
director. Discovery in these texts is the action or process of finding or being found. Stand by me
is about four Oregon boys decide to go see the body. On the way, Gordy, Vern, Chris and Teddy
encounter a mean junk man and a marsh full of leeches, as they also learn more about one another
and their very different home lives. Just a lark at first, the boys adventure evolves into a defining
event in their lives. Whereas away is a play written by the Australian playwright Michael Gow. First
performed by the Griffin Theatre Company in 1986, it tells the story of three internally conflicted
families holidaying on the coast for Christmas, 1968. This play focuses on three families embarking
on their summer holiday at the end of the year. The families are seen a cross section of the
Australian community at the time and they aspirations and attitudes.

Reasonable Occupation Review Paper
Effects of the Realistic Job Previews on Employees Job Satisfaction
Abstract
Reasonable occupation review (RJP) is the presentation of data both positive and negative given to
the forthcoming representative about the occupation and the association. The data gave is expected
to give the practical picture of the association. The part of the data stream is to touch base at a phase
where the desires of the representative and the candidate match. It is being contended that
representatives who are given RJP s amid the enlistment and determination process have higher
occupation fulfillment. Along these lines, the point of this study is to distinguish the connections
between practical work sneak peaks and worker work fulfillment in the associations. ... Show more

It is made helpful by utilizing both formal and casual techniques. Its convenience can be
surveyed if the association discovers workforce, which coordinates its necessities.Better
enlistment strategies give an upper hand to the association (Kecia, and Gail, 1999). One of the
striking elements of an enlistment procedure is the capacity to influence an applicant (Quinetta,
Collins and Oreg, 2005). It imparts looked for after and ugly parts of the employment to the
occupation candidate before he/she makes a choice to acknowledge the occupation offer
(Champnoise, 2004). Great RJPs give a complete depiction of the employment (O Nell et al.,
2001). It is meant to guarantee that gainful and able candidates must join the association with a
long haul responsibility to the association (Champnoise, 2004). It is normal that a great job
practical sneak peak can help in lessening the turnover and the employing cost (O Nell et al.,
2001). RJPs are proposed to give practical employment data. On the off chance that the data is
excessively negative, then it would withhold the possibility to join the association (Quinetta,
Collins, and Oreg, 2005). The data gave ought to be adjusted both positive and negative data, and
the excessively positive data is unsafe for an association (Morse, 2007). RJPs are given in different
configurations and through various strategies (Champnoise, 2004). In any case, it is too imperative

However, an important area of influence by ancient Romewas Roman law. Roman law has been

Diagnosis Asthma
Asthma is a chronic airway disorder marked by inflammation. The inflammation affects multiple
structures involved in the respiratory system of the body. These structures include the trachea, the
bronchi, and the bronchioles. Bronchoconstriction is the main response that occurs during an
asthma attack. The bronchoconstriction can be attributed to many different factors including
edema, an excessive amount of mucus, muscle damage and bronchospasms. Bronchospasms are ...

a more accurate term is also used to refer to the period from 1750 to 1820, this article is about
the broad span of time from roughly the 11th century to the present day, which includes the
Classical period and various other periods. The central norms of this tradition became codified

Discuss Some of the Arguments Made Against Globalization...
Globalization is the interaction of world economies to become one big economy, for the sole
purpose of enhancing free trade, growth and efficiency and employment. It emphasizes the neo
liberal economic policies commonly referred to as the Washington Consensus of free trade,
financial and capital market liberalization, deregulation and privatization (Juhasz, pg 408). The
supporters of globalization argue that it is essential to an individual s advancement and economic
progress, and constantly reiterate that an integrated market economy will bring prosperity
worldwide. Whereas, critics of globalization believe that without a proper framework and policies,
the consequence of globalization will have a great impact on world politics,... Show more content

These restrictions also show the double standards of globalization policies. If restrictive polices
had been fairly exercised, Japan and US would not have industrialized to such great extent by
importing technology. However, at present the transfer of technological process would be barred
under WTO s Trade Related Investment Measures (TRIMS). But in the past, if New England had
not barred cheaper British textiles by imposing very high tariffs just as Britain had done to India the
United States might have been left out of the industrial revolution altogether (Juhasz, pg 419).
Additionally, the renowned Asian financial crisis occurred when the countries allowed unrestricted
capital flows and opened their markets to IMF. Before the crisis they used closed market policies to
protect domestic entrepreneurs and develop support industries, while importing technology. As a
consequence of these flawed policies, developed nations have open access to resources of
developing nations, discouraging economic prosperity and efficiency whilst increasing income
inequality.
While free trade is always better than trade restrictions and distortions, it can exacerbate existing
asymmetries between rich and poor nations and therefore result into poverty and inequality (Marks
et al., pg 617). The systems in place to ensure free and fair trade do not always

A Summary Of The Human Female Reproductive Structure
Chapter 47
1.Part 1) Describe either human male or the human female reproductive structures and their

Part 2) Define the hormones involved and the events that take place during the human female

The human female reproductive systems function is for human reproduction which is made up of
internal and external sex organs. The human female reproductive system includes the breasts, vagina

part in the production and transportation of gametes and the production of the sex hormones. The
process that the human female reproductive system undergoes to carry out the role in the process
of pregnancy and birth is sexual maturation. Let s start with the ovaries. The ovaries are a pair of
small glands the size and shape of grapes that are located on the left and right sides of the pelvic
body cavity lateral to the superior potion of the uterus (The ovaries are highlighted in the image

eggs until they are ready for use. Second, the ovaries produce female sex hormones called estrogen

different types of estrogen. They are called estrone, estriol, and estradiol. Estrogen are hormones

Diabetes Mellitus ( Dm )
Diabetes mellitus (DM) exists in 29.1 million people, or 9.3% of the United States population, and
of these 29.1 million people, 65% will die from a form of heart disease. DM adds incremental risk
to the development or subsequent exacerbation of heart failure; this holds true even after
adjustment of common risk factors such as ischemic heart disease and hypertension. Furthermore,
the prevalence of heart failure in patients with DM is between 10% and 22%; this is four times
higher than the general population.
Controlling blood glucose has been widely accepted as a method to reduce risk of atherosclerotic
cardiovascular events and new onset heart failure; although this observational relationship exists, no
evidence from randomized controlled trials illustrates that improved glycemic control modifies risk.
Many of the antihyperlipidemic agents, namely thiazolidinediones, dual peroxisome proliferator
activated receptor agonists, sulfonylureas, and insulin may cause adverse events such as increased
plasma volume, exacerbation of heart failure, dysregulation of myocardial metabolism, and
worsening of left ventricular function; therefore, a clinical concern exists with prescribing agents
that may lead to morbidity and mortality.
The United States Food and Drug Administration has set standards on new diabetic drugs safety in
regards to major adverse cardiovascular events, but heart failure events are not included in this
safety requirement. Moreover, the rates of heart failure

This last week at clinical was my favorite week of the entire semester. I could have spent all day
in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given at

developmental assistance before they could be discharged home. I cared for a set of twins who
were on total parenteral nutrition (TPN), were fed breastmilk through their nasogastric tube

took many tries, but finally was a success. I loved how much teamwork was involved in the
NICU, they were always helping and reaching out to see if anyone needed anything. The
highlight of my day was being able to assist in a peripherally inserted central catheter, also known
as a PICC line. It took almost two hours to complete the entire procedure. After the baby was
given fentanyl to help calm and partially sedate her, I began to clean her right leg from heel to
high thigh with iodine. The PICC line nurse wanted to go in through the great saphenous vein, and
used her fancy light to find the best vein the baby had, which would be the most direct route to the
heart. She inserted the needle into the skin just as a normal IV would be started, then introduced
the catheter which she cut to nineteen centimeters. She proceeded to insert the catheter without
resistance. After that was complete, x ray had to come and check the placement. The x ray showed
that the catheter was in the abdomen rather than the heart. The nurse pulled back the catheter and
started over, we waited for another x ray, and it showed that it was in the heart, just a little high.
She pulled the catheter out three centimeters and it was now in the correct place with great blood
return. It was a length but very neat process to have been a part

The anthropologist is not a data classification machine. The anthropologist is a human being with
specific angles, interpretations, and background. Reality is perception. By reading ethnographies,
we are learning from other s perception. The range of approaches is specifically what gives this
discipline it s richness and depth. Johannes Fabian in Remembering the Present: Painting and
Popular History, comments,
Which and whose reality? Once the ethnographer has ceased to think that being in touch with
reality and truth is guaranteed by following the rules of scientific investigation, the outcome of

Fabian in this ethnography beautiful depicts his role to give the reader a sense of the dialogue and

When two cultures interact, the exchange itself reveals insight. Fabian does not dismiss this in his
ethnography. Like a stone thrown to water, the anthropologist cannot attempt to study the

Meeting Dietary Guidelines
Many patients that receive care in any type of health care setting will be affected by their nutritional
needs relating to their illness. Not all patients have the same dietary needs. It is important to meet
those needs. More specifically, older patients with diabetes mellitus, patients with lung cancer, and
burn patients have specific diet protocols that must be understood and followed in order to have the
nutritionguidelines met.
Current dietary guidelines for general population
Meeting the nutritional needs of patients depends on several factors. According to Potter and Perry,
Individual caloric and nutrient requirements vary by stage of development, body composition,
activity levels, pregnancy and lactation, and the presence of disease (Potter Perry, 2013, p. 1001).

Buffalo Bill and Disney Essay
Buffalo Bill and Disney
More than seventy years after Buffalo Bill taught the history of the West to a curious nation,
Disneyland embarked on a strikingly similar course. Relying on creative marketing, star appeal, the
American fascination with all things western, and, most important, an exceedingly glib portrayal of
history, Disneyland in a strange way completed the story that Buffalo Billstarted in 1883. Although
the eras, to be sure, were decidedly different, history was delivered in exactly the same way.

In one year alone, 1899, the show covered 11,000 miles in two hundred days, giving 341
performances in 132 cities. The show was enormously successful and profoundly powerful as a
shaping force in the way America saw the west.
The problem, of course, is that the show did more than entertain it also became a sort of travelling
museum and the definitive word on a vital period of America s past. What lessons, exactly, did the
show teach and whose values did the Buffalo Bill show endorse? The program of the show, a
website notes, presented itself as a source of knowledge, authority, and authenticity about the west.
(http://xroads.virginia.edu) This mixing of fantasy with reality, of myth and history, belied the
official sounding nature of the show and its program, not to mention the visual nature of the
presentation, which must have seemed real. The blending of fact and fiction, not surprisingly,
carried over to Cody himself, as many became confused with him and the character of Buffalo Bill.
More important to history, though, the stereotype of the American Indian was reinforced, night
after night, as Buffalo Bill and his cast of nearly 500 actors played out scene after scene where the
Indian was nothing more than a mounted warrior destined to lose to the American individual,
taming the frontier, as it were,

What Does It Mean To Be A Sympathic Character
What does it mean to be a sympathic character? It is having the feelings of pity and sorrow for
someone else s misfortune and having an understanding between people and their common
feelings. In this novel Great Expectations, Charles Dickens uses the protagonist Pip and his
relationships with other characters to explore that idea. In this novel Pip s character is used to
create sympathy for him through his relationships with other characters like his brotherly
relationship with Herbert, his father and son like bond with Magwitch, and his love life with
Estella. Pip s brotherly relationship with Herbert is very unique and is introduced in the first I

She is introduced to us in part one of the novel as a girl who is raised by Miss Havisham and is a
part of the upper class system to torment men and break their hearts . So, when Pip goes to play
at her house she uses the term common laboring boy (65) to insult him based on the level of
class he was born into as the blacksmith , even though she does not know that she was born into
a lower level of society being the daughter of the convict, Magwitch. From this we as the readers
feel sympathy towards Pip because of the way he is treated based on the level of society he was
born into. Then in the second part of the novel when Estella comes to London Pip believes that
he has a chance with her but she ends up marrying the cruel nobleman Drummle, instead of
marrying Pip who she could have lived substantially better off with. After this we as the readers
feel even more sympathic towards Pip because he still never got the love of his life even though
he had such a good understanding of Estella. In the very end of the book Pip finds out that
Estella was never happy with Drummle and he recently died. He found her wandering through the
old garden in Satis House and they discuss the about past and they leave the garden hand in hand.
I took her hand in mine, and we went out of the ruined place; and, as the morning mists had risen
long ago when I first left the forge, so, the evening mists were rising now,

Essay about Making the St. Louis Connection
Adolf Hitler spent much of his life wanting to be a painter and when he was eighteen years old
he fled with two other young men to Vienna. He and the two other men wanted to attend the
Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. The two other men were accepted but Adolf Hitler was not. He
blamed his non acceptance on the fact that the art academy had been run by the Jewish and were
discriminating against him. After years of failing in the art industry, Hitler s political ambitions
rose to the surface and he brought the Nazi Party to power in Germany. The Rape of Europa

The Rape of Europa describes the lengths and expenses that a community should go to preserve
their art. I believe that communities should go extreme lengths and expenses to preserve their
art because art is part of our cultural and if past generations did not preserve their art then future
generations would not be able to learn about their cultural, background and heritage. Also, in
earlier times art was a way of communication. For instance, cave men and women would draw
cave drawings and if scientist did not preserve these drawings then we would not know what life
was like back then. The arts are a powerful vehicle for communication, a way to express visions
that are beyond the capacity of words and a medium for cultural enlightenment and insight. Art
also allows viewers to connect with the art and the artist in a deeper way than life can sometimes
express. Communities should go extreme lengths and expenses to preserve their art because it
provided a deeper insight to life. One of the most famous pieces of artwork that was purged
during World War II by the German Nazis was Klimt s Portrait of Adele Bloch Bauer. According to
Elana Shapira, it was the summer of 1903 that

The Characteristics Of The Inner Planets In The Solar System
The Solar System
A solar system is defined as a star together with a group of celestial bodies that are held by its
attraction and revolve around it. Our specific solar system contains the inner planets, the outer
planets, and other celestial bodies like moons, comets, and asteroids. All of these things revolve
around the sun in repeating cycles and add to the to beauty of the place in which we live, Earth
which is the only life sustaining inner planet.
The Inner Planets are the planets that are closest to the sun. These planets include Mercury, Venus,
Earth, and Mars, which are made of solid, dense rock. Even though these planets are composed of
similar materials, they all have unique characteristics that set them apart from other planets.
Mercury is the first planet in the solar system. It was named after the Roman messenger god
because it has the fastest orbit around the sun. Mercury is also the smallest planet in our solar
system with a diameter of only 3,031 miles. Because Mercury is so small, its gravitational pull is
very weak. Mercury s atmosphere is so small that it can be compared to artificial vacuums of
earth. Because the atmosphere is so thin, its temperature differs greatly between day and night. The
average temperature on Mars during the day is 800В°F and at night it is 350В°F. The temperature
difference is really what sets it apart from other planets (Watters 53 55).
Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system with a temperature of 900В°F. It seems

Framing A Bad Argument
Abortion, animal rights, border control, gun rights and same sex marriage are always heated
discussions amongst people. Whether people know all the facts or not I can guarantee most have
very strong perceptions and feelings on each of these. A significant thought to remember is that
argumentative essays are not always a disagreement. Occasionally, they merely support an idea or
topic some cannot be argued (Reinking and Von der Osten, 269). Framing the argument, providing
firm support, while remaining cautious of fallacies were the significant points in Chapter 16 of
Strategies of Successful Writing, in my opinion.
Framing the argument, essentially choosing a side of your argument and attempting to influence
the reader to believe the same as you. You must state your argument in a very clear and precise
manner so the reader has no reason to doubt you. After choosing a specific argument, researching
the points to help prove the assumptions will become an easier task. Until a decision on how to
frame the argument has been made, it seems impossible to attempt to convince others. You must
first have all the evidence to support your framing. I do not enjoy trying to push my beliefs onto
others, we are all from different walks of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any type of argument, the person fighting for their side will only give the audience the
information to benefit their point of view. Lacking the information from both sides of an
argument will not persuade the audience in your favor. Stereotyping, a worldwide struggle, must
be avoided in order to persuade in an ethical way. Appealing to a crowd, seems to be a very
popular way to persuade others. In our presidential debates, so many important topics are left on
the sidelines while both nominees simply attempt to appeal to the crowds. Carefully reviewing
your evidence and looking extremely hard for any fallacies will only leave you better prepared.

Democratic Republic Research Paper
Introduction:
Children across the country can be heard pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States of
America and to the republic for which it stands; however, research shows we no longer have a
democratic republic in the United States. When the desires of the majority are systematically
subverted to the desires a small and powerful minority, as is often in the case in the US, that system
is an oligarchy. The democratic republicenvisioned by the founding fathers has been replaced by
an oligarchy to which they would have objected. With no express discussion of corporations in the
constitution, the responsibility of defining the role and privileges of corporations in the US has
been left largely to the United States Supreme Court. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to a Newsday poll 93.7% of Americans opposed the decision. Supreme Court decisions
have eroded the protection of private property of the individuals in favor of a concept of public
good that is defined by elites. When the country was founded interests of the voting constituency
and the interests of economic constituency were the same, because there were no large enterprises
and each family represented a single voting unit. Finally, Anderson states Money is power; it can
and does buy politicians and armies. The great distance between the founding of the country and the
modern day has allowed a perversion of the philosophy the country was founded upon. Corporations
can exist in both oligarchs and democracies, but left unchecked have a tendency to become

The Ionic Frieze Of The Parthenon
The ionic frieze of the Parthenon was considered by the Italian traveler and antiquarian Cyriac of
Ancona as one of the noblest images of the Parthenon. The ionic frieze measures some 160
meters, or 524 feet, and is visible along the upper walls of the cella in addition to across the two
porches. Cyriac was one of the first individuals to have sketched the figures on the frieze. The
subject of the ionic frieze according to Cyriac was the victories of the Athenians . The Doric frieze
of the Parthenonin the past presented 92 polychromatic carvings. The building upon which the
frieze was built in the ionic style was Doric. The two styles of design do not mesh, and did not
occur at simultaneous periods in history, making the presence of the ionic frieze something of a
mystery. The general meaning of the frieze at large, comprised of many parts, has thereby been
drawn into question. While the frieze in in superior condition than other elements of the Parthenon,
such as the metopes, pediments, and akroteria, much of it has nonetheless been lost, leaving open
room for interpretation. The lack of consensus over the meaning of the contents of the Parthenon
is due in part to the height of the frieze. Travelers in the 2nd century A.D., centuries before
Cyriac, had noted the pediments; however there was no discussion of the frieze. This may have
been due to the fact that the frieze was too high. Conversely, and as will be explored below, some
of the legends therein

The Importance Of School Segregation
The United States is a nation that is becoming increasingly diverse. But for a country with
changing demographics, this diversity is not reflected within the classroom . Although school
segregation in the United States was legally abolished in 1954 as a result of the Supreme Court
case Brown vs. Board of Education, public schools today are becoming re segregated. It is well
known that the phrase separate but equal was used to justify schoolsegregation. However, separate
schools in the mid twentieth century were not equal, and neither are segregated schools today.
This re segregation of public schools can be attributed to the fact that since the early 1990s
schools were no longer required to uphold court orders that ruled for de segregation since they
were deemed temporary . Furthermore, the re segregation of public schools is also a result of a
school system that is based on the location of one s house. Subsequently, if there is segregation
within the housing sector, then segregation will trickle over into the school system as well. While
students of all races reap the benefits of being in a classroom that is both racially and
economically diverse, it is students of color who are often most effected by the issue of segregated
schools. It has been found that attending a segregated school has a negative effect on educational
outcomes, specifically for students of color.
A report from the Government Accountability Office that looked at the 2000 2001 and 2013
2014 school years found that schools with more poor black and Latinx students offered fewer
math, science and college prep classes as well as more suspensions, expulsions and students who
were held back in the ninth grade . Being a student at a lower income school also manifests itself
in larger class sizes, guidance counselors not being as accessible and the likeliness of instruction
taking place in a dilapidated building .
School re segregation is an issue that deserves recognition. Allowing schools to become re
segregated perpetuates the systemic issues that already plague the United States in many other
institutions. And having unequal educational opportunities for students not only harms that
individual but the state of the entire nation.
Again,

The Social Theories of Harriet Martineau For the most part, men are usually credited when it

1800 s despite the plague of gender inequalities during her time. She not only stood up against
sexism but also used her Sociological perspectives to fight for women s rights, the well being of
children, suppression of non whites, and the abolition of slavery. Harriet Martineau ventured

`` A Cyborg Manifesto `` By Donna Haraway
We invented machines to fulfill our necessities. As machines get smarter in the 21th century, we
give machines more permissions and freedom to do more things for us. However, the new
generations that are born with all the advanced technologies they needed don t quite
understanding the use of machines as we are more relying on them. The machines are quickly
expanding and replacing our brains and bodies even it is a simple task to do. But if we step back
a little and think that we are the inventors of these modern machines. Are we scare of machines
taking over our societies or is it just our fear and curiosity that tricked us? Well, we now cannot live
without machines. Human and machine are bonded together tightly that we can t identify who we
really are. We become cyborgwhich is a more accurate term to describe who we are now.
The reading A Cyborg Manifesto by Donna Harawaypoints out that we are cyborgs. There is no
difference between human and machine and this boundary has been breached. Cyborgs are a
hybrid of machine and organism. They often appear in the science fiction. Haraway describes
that machines are now doing most of our works while we just sit back and watch them doing
what they suppose to do. It feels like the machines are becoming alive and we are the one that
rarely doing anything. However, we are still on the top of the hierarchy no matter how machines
will change our lives, we are still on the top of the food chain. But even so, we can t ignore that

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Martin Luther s On Christian...
Martin Luther wrote On Christian Liberty, as an attempt to avoid conflict with the Church. In it,
he justifies his beliefs, primarily on the importance of placing faith in Christ above works in the
grand scheme of salvation. Throughout the treatise, he address who a Christian should be, the
nature humanity, and the role he believes faith, works, and ceremonies playing in forming a
good Christian. This, in turn, entices the reader to critique and search of his or her self, what it
means to be a good Christian and how to gain salvation. Within the first few pages of On
Christian Liberty, Luther creates a paradox that causes readers to think deeply about their own
role as believers of Christ. In it, he claims that a Christian is: ...a perfectly free lord of all, subject
to none while, at the same time, being a perfectly dutiful servant, subject to all (pg.2). Through
faith, the most important part of a person s salvation, a Christian gains freedom and liberty.
However, a Christian becomes a servant of all through love, subjecting themselves to the needs of
others as Christ did. Luther identifies the two natures of man as the body and the spirit. These two
natures continuously conflict. The body is the flesh or a person s outward nature while the soul
represents the inner person. The bodily nature of humanity has no bearing on the righteousness of
the soul. Luther states that the soul cannot benefit if the body and flesh is well. Regardless of
outward wealth,

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Hearsay Testimony When a crime is committed, one of the most important evidences for convincing jurors to make the decision is witness evidence. Witnesses in crimes have also been a crucial part on determining the final verdict. However, child witness testimony should not be allowed due to the harm that it inflicts on children. The article between a rock and a hard place: Why hearsay testimonymay be a necessary evil in child sexual abuse cases by Watters, T., Brineman, J., Wright, S. compares the positive and negative of using hearsay testimony instead of child testimony. The authors argues that the benefits outweighs the cost. Personally, I agree with the author s argument of the pros outweighing the cons when it comes to hearsay testimony. The negatives to child witness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the child has to face with the defendant of the crime who may possibly have been guilty. In addition, the defense attorney will question the child or even accused of the child on fabricating abuse (Watters, Brineman Wright, 2007). Furthermore, the traumatization faced by the child may cost psychological damages in the near future. In the study by Wolfman, M., Brown, D., Jose, P. (2016), 27 trained child witness interviewers are brought into the study as participants. Half of the participants works full time and the average experience is 5.2 years. The study found that depending on the relationship with the defendant and the severity of the damaged caused to the child, the responses to the questions will be effected due to increase in anxiety and intimidation (Wolfman, Brown Jose, 2016). Since the child has to go through multiple interviews before trail such as caretaker, police or social services, the risk may increase. The effect of multiple trails compared to single trails can lead to more negative effects on mental health, children experience more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Success Of Building High Performing Teams Success in building high performing teams in any organisation has huge benefits for the business, its Customers, the teams and for each team member. To achieve success in team building, it is important to have a tight focus on the objectives and goals, as well as on the benefits of team building for that specific business or workplace. The Overall Objectives Some think this is about playing silly games, or indulging in expensive and irrelevant out of work activities. The managers or business people who believe this will quickly dismiss the concept as a total waste of money and energy. Others who have problems in their workplace with conflict in groups, poor performance or demotivated staff may see team building as positive, but as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is at this stage that team building activities will help bind them. 2.To align them to their shared purpose, goals and targets 3.To establish a positive team culture, the beliefs, values and norms of behaviour 4.To establish the role of the leader The Objectives at the Second Stage Some of the initial objectives will continue through to this stage, but other goals will be introduced to develop the team further. This stage is called the Storming stage, where members may challenge their shared purpose, the leadership or the norms of behaviour. The objectives at this stage are: 1.To keep them aligned to their purpose and goals 2.To develop good working relationships between all members, giving them experience of working with different team members 3.To nurture shared problem solving and generating new ideas 4.To introduce processes so that they work effectively together e.g. daily huddles, flash problem solving meetings, regular state of play meetings, communication systems etc. 5.To establish clear short term goals and methods for celebrating achievement and milestones The Objectives at the Third Stage When the team has worked through the Storming stage, they will have become closer, and will have a deep sense of working together to achieve their shared purpose. • 4. Women Of The Buddhist Societies In Buddhist societies, women were seen as inferior to men. They were marginalized in early Buddhist societies and had many limitations placed on their spiritual enlightenment. They were not permitted to become bodhisattvas and forced to instead become nuns. They were also looked down upon because of their strong attachments to worldly things. Although they were marginalized, women still felt a strong spiritual bond to the religion that it was worth the discrimination to obtain the spiritual gain from the Buddhist society. Seeing these problems of how women were viewed and treated we might question in what ways were they marginalized socially in early Buddhist societies? In terms of marginalization, we might look at many different forms, but for the purpose of this paper we are going to focus on social marginalization. This typically means that women were mistreated and looked down upon because of their gender. In what follows we will briefly look at a few scholarly articles in support of the claim that women were marginalized socially in early Buddhist societies. We are going to look at not only the practices of Buddhist societies but also the beliefs and how the beliefs related to the practices. We are going to focus on the views in Buddhismfrom around six BCE throughout the first century. In Charles Keyes article Mother or Mistress but Never a Monk, Keys summarizes how women were viewed as less than men because of their attachments left to the world, so ... • 5. Corporate Capacity And Authority Corporate capacity and authority were essential legal concepts which contained rules for when and how a company ought to be legally recognised as having validly acted and entered into a binding contract with third parties. Broadly speaking, the rules which applied to corporate capacity were the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice. In regard to the concept of corporate authority, both the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice also applied however their application was curtailed by the Turquand rule. The Turquand rule therefore only applied when the authority of directors was in question. A definitional overview of the concepts of corporate capacity and authority will be provided below, along with brief description of the doctrine of constructive notice and the Turquand rule. The thesis deals with the above concepts and discusses how the Companies Act 71 of 2008 (the Act) modified the law, particularly, by extending the legal capacity of a company and extinguishing or modifying the above rules which had previously restricted a company s ability... For a company to transact with third parties and to enter into valid business dealings there must be a valid contract concluded in order to create legally binding obligations enforceable between the company and the third party. For a contract to be valid the company must have the requisite legal capacity to enter into the contract and the directors or officers representing the company must have the authority to act on its behalf. Within company law, capacity and authority are interrelated principles however it is important to note that each is an entirely different and separate legal concept from the other. • 6. Persuasive Essay On Perfect College Someone once said, Never base your life decision on advice from people who don t have to deal with the results. Choosing which college you should attend is a stressful, arduous, exciting, and terrifying process filled with endless conundrums and choices. However, the end result, the college that provides oneself with the best education, career opportunities, and general satisfaction, is well worth the mental and physical toll that the search takes on an individual. So, how do you circumvent the twists and turns of fate and determine your dream school? The answer is rather simple: do it yourself. In the end, you are the one going to college, not your parent, teacher, grandparent, brother, sister, the guy behind the computer making the college rankings, or anyone else. Though your decision may be influenced by a variety of sources, it is your responsibility to walk your own fulfilling and enriching path. Consequently, the best way to determine your perfect college match is to drown out the rankings and do your own research, research that considers every factor that is important to you. In 1983, U.S. News World Report recognized that prospective college students yearned for some type of sign that would point them to their dream school, and U.S. News World Report granted those students their wish with the first installment of the U.S. News World Report College Ranking. The United States, which was known for a nation of separation and church and state was swept with religious revivals during 1790 to 1830s known as the Second Great Awakening. • 8. Technology Reflection I would like to start with thanking you, this course detailed the importance of technology and how it influences my everyday life. Technology has always been involved in my upbringing. I noticed as I grew technology advanced. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to technology at an early age. As I grew technology got more intricate and I lost interest in advances. My vision of technology differs from the moment I walked out of our first class. I find it truly important to know the history or better yet, evolution of technology, because it is so essential for the now and the future. The assigned readings helped me better understand the different perspectives of technology. At first I did not pay too much mind to social media. I recall a moment during a week without social media, where I realized that social media is an addiction. Those cleverly computed applications called my name on my screen, bouncing to be opened and I never stopped to think of the real purpose of them. I knew that social media was entertaining and that it is useful to gather information on fictional characters with picture perfect lives. I also knew that it was beneficial but I noticed that I used it for all the wrong reasons. after the week long teaser, I realized that social media serves no real purpose other than as a pass time. Like in Putnam s Bowling Alone , technology serves as a distraction and I truly did not come to that realization up until the assignment. I overly quote Putnam s text to many ... • 9. Comparing A Dollhouse And Long DayпїЅs House And A Doll s Night Whether it s wife vs husband, parent vs child, or brother vs brother, people s wills inevitably oppose each other. Besides their play format, A Doll s House and Long Day s Journey Into Night share the similar conflict of man versus man, mostly within a family. The Helmers marriage is traditional for the late 19th century; Torvald works at a bank and manages the family s finances while Nora cares for the house affairs and plays with her young children. In O Neill s novel, the Tyrones cheerfully eat breakfast together but as the day progresses, the unified family crumbles at the hands of substance abuse and difficult memories. By interacting with other characters, Nora and the Tyrones are forced to accept the truth about their place in the houses hierarchies. Chirpy Nora Helmer of A Doll s House begins the story coaxing her husband Torvald to gift her money for Christmas, hinting to the audience that she has a questionable fascination with money (Ibsen 3). Similarly, she raises suspicion about the sincerity of their happy marriagewhen she lies about snacking on macaroons, something so insignificant that it would be pointless to lie unless she did not trust him (Ibsen 4). Later in Act I, an old friend Mrs. Christine Linde visits, shares her troubles, and calls Nora naive because she has a seemingly perfect life with her husband, children, and tasteful home, to which Nora counters with the secret responsibility she has had to bear (Ibsen 10). Years ago Nora forged her dying father s signature to illicitly borrow funds for her husband to recover from illness in warm Italy. To repay the burdensome debt to Krogstad who harasses and blackmails her, Nora privately accumulates money through manual work and her allowances from Torvald, who would find it painful and humiliating...with his manly independence, to know that he owed [Nora] anything (Ibsen 12). At the threat of snitching, Krogstad blackmails Nora to keep his job safe from her husband, the bank manager. Once Nora actively wants her husband to recognize her crime, Krogstad is no longer the antagonist Torvald is. Thus, Christine and Krogstad agree to marry each other as equals with complementary needs without a husband, mother, or children to take care of, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Le Sacre Du Printemps ( The Rite Of Spring ) Le Sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring) Igor Stravinsky was born June 17, 1882 in Oranienbaum, Russia. While studying law, Nicolai Rimsky Korsakov, a Russian composer and the most influential member of the composer group known as The Five. Korsakov allegedly told him he should study music. He continued to study under Korsakov his death in 1908. Stravinsky never had another teacher but caught the likes of many Russian composers like Sergei Diaghilev, impresario of the famed Ballets Russes, who allowed him to compose a ballet. Among his other compositions nothing compared to his next one under Diaghilev. The result was the voluptuous and impressionistic, The Firebirdin 1910, and later in 1911, Petrushka. His next ballet would ignite the most famous riot in the history of music. With its savage rhythms, absence of melody, and barbaric energy, The Rite of Springmarks the true beginnings of Twentieth Century music, and even today never fails to thrill or amaze listeners (Sherrane). While he was composing The Firebird, Stravinsky had a sudden visual idea, a scene of pagan ritual in which a chosen sacrificial virgin danced herself to death. Naturally such an image invites the creation of a ballet to bring the dance to life. However, before put the vision to reality he had another vision about a sassy yet sad little puppet from Russian street fairs; Petrushka. Eventually, the ancient images of Russia would come back to him and would enjoy the popularity of people all the way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The concept of morality deals with the different decisions we make every single day of our lives, and the kind impact they may have on someone. With regard to this concept, Concussion and Margin Call are two movies that exemplify characters that undergo extreme pressure to make moral decisions and judgements. In the movie Concussion, Dr. Bennet Omalu faces lots of criticism for his studies and findings. The fact that a name beyond her individual self marks her legacy seems fitting for the anchoress whose devotion to God and to Holy Church marked her entire life. Even when her beliefs struck discord with the doctrines of the church; Julian professed that contradictions were nothing of substance but simply a symptom of the lack of humankind s comprehension. Her nurturing theologyprofessed a Godof profound love in a time of great heartache. To treat illness without understanding the viscera and bowels is no different from a blind man walking in the dark Wang Qing ren (1768 1831), Physician, Qing Dynasty Wang Qing ren (1763 1831) was a famous physician of traditional Chinese medicine during the Qing Dynasty. He wrote the Yi Lin Gai Cuo (Correcting the Errors in the Forest of

Ming and Qing Dynasties New Developments in Medical Theory Between the Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368 1840) China underwent a series of significant
transitions, most notably from feudal society (Ming dynasty) to a form of commodity based economy (latter part of the Qing dynasty) as the result of widespread restructuring of the central and local governments. You do so by creating hubs (articles), which are just pages full of written content, photos, videos, polls, quizzes and last but certainly not least advertising. When you sign up and become a Hubber, as the members of HubPages are affectionately called, you are allowed to start publishing hubs. The way you earn residual online income is by sharing a portion of the ad revenue generated by these hubs. I don t know about you, but I would prefer a share of every ad click rather than be subjected to this convoluted 60/40 system. It seems like Hubbers would need to monitor their affiliate accounts very closely and perform due diligence. Perhaps it was hearing the sob story about my friend making zero money on her hubs, of which there are only four. Maybe it was reading somewhere that HubPages recently got a Google smackdown and then noticing that the site registered a lower PR (Google PageRank) than before. • 17. Unit 11 Assignment 2 Cardiovascular And Transport Systems Unit 11 Assignment 2: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems M2. Explain the need for a transport system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms: Unicellular organism Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a single celled organism (one cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving different substances in and out of other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in comparison to its volume; this is because each organism is built for a specific function. However, they transport materials such as oxygen and urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is consists of more than one cell, it has a small surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its structure is specialised to do more than one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs, and transporting systems. Its transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from one place to another. Why do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is because the single celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they have a large surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they are known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane. This also means that they are able to diffuse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first module focuses on external pressures on public administration. I learned about external forces on public administrators in Introduction to Public Administration, and Managing Change in the 21st Century. Though Introduction to Public Administrationonly gave a vague overview of external pressures, Managing Change gave greater detail on how there are forces outside of government, including citizens, interest groups and private sector companies who all will influence the decision making process. These same courses also focused on the internal pressures within organizations and government that will also impact the decision making processes of public administrators. Budgeting is also a topic that I have experience with. Budgeting in the public sector is entirely different than budgeting in the private sector. Lastly, my previous public administration courses emphasized the importance of performance expectation and improvement. Efficiency and effectiveness is a goal that public administrators everywhere should work towards. Of my previous public administration courses, there are two courses that made a significant impact on me. • 36. Diabetes Mellitus ( Dm ) Diabetes mellitus (DM) exists in 29.1 million people, or 9.3% of the United States population, and of these 29.1 million people, 65% will die from a form of heart disease. DM adds incremental risk to the development or subsequent exacerbation of heart failure; this holds true even after adjustment of common risk factors such as ischemic heart disease and hypertension. Furthermore, the prevalence of heart failure in patients with DM is between 10% and 22%; this is four times higher than the general population. Controlling blood glucose has been widely accepted as a method to reduce risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular events and new onset heart failure; although this observational relationship exists, no evidence from randomized controlled trials illustrates that improved glycemic control modifies risk. Many of the antihyperlipidemic agents, namely thiazolidinediones, dual peroxisome proliferator activated receptor agonists, sulfonylureas, and insulin may cause adverse events such as increased plasma volume, exacerbation of heart failure, dysregulation of myocardial metabolism, and worsening of left ventricular function; therefore, a clinical concern exists with prescribing agents that may lead to morbidity and mortality. The United States Food and Drug Administration has set standards on new diabetic drugs safety in regards to major adverse cardiovascular events, but heart failure events are not included in this safety requirement. I loved how much teamwork was involved in the NICU, they were always helping and reaching out to see if anyone needed anything. The highlight of my day was being able to assist in a peripherally inserted central catheter, also known as a PICC line. It took almost two hours to complete the entire procedure. After the baby was given fentanyl to help calm and partially sedate her, I began to clean her right leg from heel to high thigh with iodine. The PICC line nurse wanted to go in through the great saphenous vein, and used her fancy light to find the best vein the baby had, which would be the most direct route to the heart. She inserted the needle into the skin just as a normal IV would be started, then introduced the catheter which she cut to nineteen centimeters. She proceeded to insert the catheter without resistance. After that was complete, x ray had to come and check the placement. The x ray showed that the catheter was in the abdomen rather than the heart. The nurse pulled back the catheter and started over, we waited for another x ray, and it showed that it was in the heart, just a little high. I believe that communities should go extreme lengths and expenses to preserve their art because art is part of our cultural and if past generations did not preserve their art then future generations would not be able to learn about their cultural, background and heritage. Also, in earlier times art was a way of communication. For instance, cave men and women would draw cave drawings and if scientist did not preserve these drawings then we would not know what life was like back then. The arts are a powerful vehicle for communication, a way to express visions that are beyond the capacity of words and a medium for cultural enlightenment and insight. Our specific solar system contains the inner planets, the outer planets, and other celestial bodies like moons, comets, and asteroids. All of these things revolve around the sun in repeating cycles and add to the to beauty of the place in which we live, Earth which is the only life sustaining inner planet. The Inner Planets are the planets that are closest to the sun. These planets include Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, which are made of solid, dense rock. Even though these planets are composed of similar materials, they all have unique characteristics that set them apart from other planets. Mercury is the first planet in the solar system. It was named after the Roman messenger god because it has the fastest orbit around the sun. Mercury is also the smallest planet in our solar system with a diameter of only 3,031 miles. Because Mercury is so small, its gravitational pull is very weak. Mercury s atmosphere is so small that it can be compared to artificial vacuums of earth. Because the atmosphere is so thin, its temperature differs greatly between day and night. The average temperature on Mars during the day is 800В°F and at night it is 350В°F. The ionic frieze measures some 160 meters, or 524 feet, and is visible along the upper walls of the cella in addition to across the two porches. Cyriac was one of the first individuals to have sketched the figures on the frieze. The subject of the ionic frieze according to Cyriac was the victories of the Athenians . The Doric frieze of the Parthenonin the past presented 92 polychromatic carvings. The building upon which the frieze was built in the ionic style was Doric. While the frieze in in superior condition than other elements of the Parthenon, such as the metopes, pediments, and akroteria, much of it has nonetheless been lost, leaving open room for interpretation. The lack of consensus over the meaning of the contents of the Parthenon is due in part to the height of the frieze. • 52. The Importance Of School Segregation The United States is a nation that is becoming increasingly diverse. But for a country with changing demographics, this diversity is not reflected within the classroom . Although school segregation in the United States was legally abolished in 1954 as a result of the Supreme Court case Brown vs. Board of Education, public schools today are becoming re segregated. It is well known that the phrase separate but equal was used to justify schoolsegregation. However, separate schools in the mid twentieth century were not equal, and neither are segregated schools today. This re segregation of public schools can be attributed to the fact that since the early 1990s schools were no longer required to uphold court orders that ruled for de segregation since they were deemed temporary . Furthermore, the re segregation of public schools is also a result of a school system that is based on the location of one s house. Subsequently, if there is segregation within the housing sector, then segregation will trickle over into the school system as well. While students of all races reap the benefits of being in a classroom that is both racially and economically diverse, it is students of color who are often most effected by the issue of segregated schools. It has been found that attending a segregated school has a negative effect on educational outcomes, specifically for students of color. A report from the Government Accountability Office that looked at the 2000 2001 and 2013 2014 school years found that schools with more poor black and Latinx students offered fewer math, science and college prep classes as well as more suspensions, expulsions and students who were held back in the ninth grade . Being a student at a lower income school also manifests itself in larger class sizes, guidance counselors not being as accessible and the likeliness of instruction taking place in a dilapidated building . School re segregation is an issue that deserves recognition. Allowing schools to become re segregated perpetuates the systemic issues that already plague the United States in many other institutions.
