Jim Crow Laws Vs Apartheid
As a result of the government mandated segregation, resistance in both the United States and
South Africa escalated. In other words, the history of the African civil rights movement taught:
Nationalism has been tested in the people s struggles . . . and found to be the only antidote
against foreign rule and modern imperialism (Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By
comparing and contrasting the Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able convey that nationalism
ultimately lead to activism and reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their
government worsened. To illustrate: [The Emancipation Proclamation] ended [slavery] . . . , but
blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian
businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). For instance, Congress passed the discriminatory Jim Crow
Laws in order to establish a hierarchy based on the plantation mentality (Bausum 2012, 14). For
South Africans, the National Party (the Nats) in 1948, made apartheid the official law. Both forms
of segregation continued the cycle of poverty for coloured people and ensured [that Caucasians
had better quality education], hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For example,
African American garbage men s insufficient salary was based on their garbage routes rather than
an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). Similarly, black South African staff received inadequate pay
and the law outlawed strikes and the formation of unions.

The For The International Baccalaureate Diploma
As we are approaching the road to the International Baccalaureate Diploma, there is a
preponderant need to become prepared for what will be coming our way. In order to familiarize
ourselves with what is coming our way, we were assigned a source evaluation paper. In this
paper, our goal was to firstly select a topic we are essentially interested in and then determine
scholarly sources that would greatly aid us in formulating a potential research exposition. Our job
was to find two sources that are written by scholars within our topics; their scholarliness is
fundamentally judged by whether they have pursued a doctorate degree in their field of study or
not and the date of publication. The more recent the work is, the reliability rate is... Show more

He received his PhD at Dropsie College of Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia, writing
his dissertation on Isaac Abrabanel, a Jewish scholar and statesman who opposed the banishment of
Jews from Spain. In his book, called The Founding Fathers of Zionism, Netanyahu explores the
many points of view of Zionism and the impact it has created on the persons involved along with
the spread of Zionism across the Jewish community. The core reason of approaching this topic,
Zionism was because of the personal connection I have towards it. Zionism was portrayed in one
way all my life and it was an unclear topic that I became to grow to want to learn more about. I
really wanted to look more into it in the summer of 2014, when Palestinians were being massacred
and killed in various violent ways in Palestine by Zionists. The news always briefly went over the
thousands of people that were getting killed without actually explaining the cause and effect and
overlooking each life that was taken away. This gave me the urge to dig deeper into the concept of
Zionism and the roots of where it came from, and how it had formed and spread to have influenced
the people. Netanyahu was able to demonstrate in depth all aspects of Zionism and demonstrate his
influence.
This collegiate novel written by Netanyahu broadened my views on Zionism and on the various
aspects that others habitually criticize about the topic. After getting hold of this book, I

Molecular Dynamics Based Investigation to Study the Effect of Pair of Stone Thrower Wales
Defects on the Mechanical Response and Failure Morphology of Graphene

ABSTRACT
Structural defects are inevitable in graphene due to its production techniques as well as chemical
and heat treatment processes. These defects in graphene are introduced either during the
production process or deliberately by us to tailor its properties. In this article, the effect of
nearest neighbour distance and angular orientation between Stone Thrower Wales defects (STW
2) on the mechanical properties and failure morphology of graphene was investigated in the
frame of molecular dynamics. Mechanical properties and failure morphology of graphene was
predicted to be the function of angular orientation between STW 2 defects, when the nearest
neighbour distance was in the range of 10 Г…. Graphene sheet containing pair of STW 2 defects
had shown an overall increase of 8% and 11% in fracture strength and strain respectively as
compared to graphene with single STW 2 defect. This study also characterised the failure
morphology of graphene sheet with single and pair of STW 2 defects in the armchair direction.
Keywords: Graphene, Stone Thrower Wales defect, nearest neighbour distance, angular orientation,

What is design? A design is a plan or a sketch produced to show the function or the workings of a
specific space which are made before constructing or applying the product. (Farlex)
What are the elements and principles of design?
The elements of design
1.Line: A line is a recognizable path created by a point moving in space. Lines are one dimensional
that differ and contrasts in length, width and dimension. Lines every so often describe and outline
the edges of a method or a form. A line can be diagonal, horizontal or vertical. (Paul)

Balance Balance is the visual and graphical equality between all the elements of design. It provides
and offers stability, steadiness and structure to a design. (LOVETT)
Proximity Proximity generates and creates the relationship between elements. It provides a
principal point. Proximity means that the elements of design should be visually connected and
linked in some way. (Paul)
Alignment Alignment allows the creation of organization and order. Aligning elements allows them
to create a visual connection with each other.
REPETITION Repetition strengthens a design by tying together individual elements. It helps to
create association and consistency. Repetition can create rhythm (a feeling of organized movement).

An Analysis Of Christine Lebay s Christine
Christine is a novel about a 17 year old named, Arnold Arnie Cunningham, who bought a red and
white 1958 Plymouth Fury from a retired war veteran named, Roland D. LeBay, for $250. The
1958 Plymouth Fury, Christine, is possessed by supernatural forces that would kill anything that
comes between her and Arnie Cunningham. Arnie becomes so obsessed with the car that he
quits high school before he even finishes. He ends up forgetting about his friend Dennis Guilder,
his family, and his girlfriend because he has his mind only set on the car itself. Bullies at the high
school tried to destroy Arnie s car, but before they could get away with it, they were all killed by
the car, and even the garage owner was killed by getting crushed between the seat and the steering
wheel. Dennis had to stop Christine from killing Arnie s girlfriend by smashing, ramming, stabbing

Shaesta Waiz Essay
The article I found this week was interesting. I never knew this until I was looking for an article.
There is a woman named, Shaesta Waiz, she is the first female certified pilot from Afghanistan.
According to one article in Flying Mag, she will be traveling through 20 countries to encourage
girls to achieve their dreams through education. She is part of an organization called Dreams Soar
her organization was founded to inspire women and girls to reach for the stars, according to Waiz.
In the article, Waiz talks about encouraging children to achieve their dreams through the STEM
program, which is in schools not only in the United States but also in countries like; Australia,
France, and China. (Encyclopedia Britannica). Waiz tells her story how she was born in a refugee
camp in 1987 in Afghanistan, and she and her familyfled to the United States to escape the Soviet
Afghan war. In this article Waiz also states that she is the first member of her family to not only
achieve a Bachelor s degree but a Master s degree as well. Both degrees she received from
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach, Fla. While attending college at
ERAU this is where her love for flying came about, she even starts a women s mentor program to
help women get into the aviation program. By doing this 13 to 22 percent more women enrolled in

times, due to staffing and patient acuity the nurse patient ratio cannot be helped. Nurse to patient
ratio is a problem in the workplace especially in the critical care setting that requires managers and
leaders to intervene. To eliminate this problem as stated by McKenna et al. (2011) nursemanagers
are working together with other staff members in forming a committee called the Nursing
Productivity Committee (NPC), which helps to implement safe staffing strategies to ensure best
possible patient outcome and improve nurse satisfaction. The NPC, as stated by McKenna et al.,

The Disillusionment Of The American Dream
Yin Yin Li LA11/Lovre January 7,2016 The Disillusionment of the American Dream The
Roaring Twenties is when the Americans, especially wealthy people, are being so wasteful on
spending money and are addicted to alcohol and drugs. During that time, many people have
hopes for the American Dream. The American Dream is a belief that a better life could be
achieved through hard work. Different people have different understandings of American
Dream and different ways to pursue their dream. Some key ideas of the American Dream are
equality, rights, opportunities and the pursuit of happiness. In the book The Great Gatsby, F.
Scott Fitzgerald reveals the American Dream is an unattainable illusion and the materialism led
to the corruption of the American Dream in the Roaring Twenties. Gatsby, Daisy and Myrtle all

dream to become rich and then win Daisy back, who is in love with Gatsby five years ago but
now is married to a rich man named Tom. When Nick, the narrator, comes back from Daisy s
house, his cousin, he sees Gatsby stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way,...I
glanced seaward and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far way, that
might have been the end of a dock (Fitzgerald 21). The significant green light symbolizes Gatsby s

Comparing Frankenstein And The Fairie Queene
Studying literature is in great part about analyzing the work. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley gives the
power of literacy to the monster in her novel Frankenstein to humanize him as well as to equip him
with a moral compass which would have been difficult for him to pick up on otherwise. The
treasure of literature for Frankensteins monster includes John Milton s Paradise Lostto bring into
question the role of the creator and creation as seen in God and man and Frankenstein and his
seemingly horrific figure, while the use of Edmund Spenser s The Fairie Queene could have been
used to underline the difference between right and wrong.
As a creation made of the parts of man in his image, Frankenstein s monster is an imperfect Adam.
Shelley does not dwell on the fall of man, so much as she uses it to question the monster s ... Show

In Book 3 of the epic, Milton highlights that God created Adam as, sufficient to have stood, but
free to fall (Norton 1989). God places the blame on Adam for the punishment of man. The monster
reading this literally, without analysis and who was also made in his creator s image then has no
choice but to assume that he is also being punished.
Shelley s humanization of the monster lies in his imperfection and makes the reader question just
why he has been cast aside by humanity. If the reader accepts the fall of man as punishment, for
Adam and Eve s mistake they can see that the monster s creation itself is not for him to be
punished, but for Frankenstein. The monster s understanding of his place because of his outward
appearance is apparent after he begins to compare himself to Adam who was created from the
hands of God as a perfect

Anzac Day In Australia
The torment: remembering what you left behind and even worse; the prospect that you may never
return. Watching the eyes of your comrade s glaze over, while your mind explodes with horror.
Nobody can possibly question the fear, the blood, the heartache, and the terrors that haunted those
men for the rest of their lives. Sometimes, we just see all soldiers as one body, one personality; we
forget that each soldier, though fighting for the same cause, had his own moral and mental battles
to attend to. Maybe this is because it s simply too painful for us to comprehend, or maybe it is due
to the generic persona given to the soldiers by the Anzac legend. The Gallipoli campaign, though a
terrible tragedy, provided the then newly federated Australia with an... Show more content on

Some began to argue that the celebrations glorified war and allowed it to be justified. This was
rivalled by the opinion that the Gallipoli tragedies were a defining moment in Australian history,
and that Anzac day had the ability to unify the nation. Those who question the relevance of the
Anzac legend today do so in danger of being labelled as unpatriotic and disrespectful, when in
reality, the legend leaves a lot of deserving people unrepresented. Many
Australians can trace their ancestry back to a person involved in WW1, which means that families
tend to have a more emotional attachment to the topic, and they find comfort and pride in the
Anzac legend.
Although the legend doesn t really capture the diversity amongst the people who stepped up to
answer the call, nor their varying experiences, it gives depth to our nations history, and shows the
raw emotion and the kindred spirit of all the soldiers. There are so many untold stories; so many
hidden identities, and although we can never completely rectify that, it is crucial that we seek out

Diction In Those Winter Sundays, By Robert Hayden
Its dreadful what little things lead people to misunderstand each other. Those Winter Sundays is
a poem written by Robert Hayden in 1962.In the poem, the speaker is remembering his past
experiences with this father. It describes the usual ways sundays were for the speaker. In the
poem, it shows the broken relationship between the speaker and the father, through the diction
and the way the poem is written. The way Robert Hayden wrote this poem, perfectly describes a
broken family without saying it directly, but through the way the poem is formatted. In the poem
Those Winter Sundays ,Robert Hayden exposese the ignorance that results in a broken
relationship between the father and child, through grim diction, apologetic tone, conflicting
imagery. The use of grim diction throughout the poem reveals the negative relationship between
the father and child just by the words the author choose. In the poem when the father is getting
ready, Hayden describes the environment in the house as Blueblack Cold (Hayden 2). In this
part of the poem the father is getting up to warm the house, because of the time period this poem
takes place in.If the author was only describing the temperature of the room he problem would
said it straight forwards, since this is not the case it is obvious that Hayden is not describing the
temperature of the house . By using Blueblack to describe the cold, it gives a powerful adjective
describing the cold. When we think of the world blueblack we tend to think of the skin color of
a person who has been in the snow for a long time ,so blueblack describe an extreme cold. Cold
has a negative connotation in many poems, in this case the cold is the relationship between father
and child.By using Blueblack cold as the adjective for cold is makes the reader assume that their
relationship between father and child is extremely bad.The speaker describes the place that he is
raised in as that house (9).If this was a short story and not a poem that phrasewould have been
glanced over without a second thought, but since this is a poem that is not the case. The way the
speaker describes the place he lived in by the wordchoose alone, reveals a lot about the father and
child relationship. By using the word that ,

Warrior Women Oppression
Warrior Women: Oppression and Strength of Female Protagonists in Mrs. Dalloway, The Woman
Warrior, and The Handmaid s Tale In most history books, women get far fewer pages than men.
This is sometimes attributed to a lack of material left behind by women through time, but this and
their relative lack of coverage are both testaments to the limits placed on women in the male
dominated societies of the times discussed. An article on feminist literary criticism quotes Virginia
Woolf saying, womanpervaded poetry from cover to cover but was in fact the slave of any boy
whose parents forced a ring on her finger (Lanser 5). In more recent history, strong female voices

The novels Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, the Woman Warriorby Maxine Hong Kingston, and

of oppression by the customs of patriarchal societies, cultural gender stereotypes, and psychological

of a man or limiting their options in society by confining them to the roles thought acceptable for

The Invasion Of Privacy And Concern For Safety
Introduction: The invasion of privacy and concern for safety has been an increasing worry among
people who live in the United States and across the world. The main issue is how does the
government s actions change how people view their own security and even national security.
Broader theories of this research question would be how the government s interaction with
technology and securityinfluence how people think about their own personal privacyand safety as
well as our national security. Some central questions that are critical to how to analyze this
growing problem are the following: What does the NSA really collect and how does that differ
from what people believe that they collect? What is the significance of the FBI asking Apple to
create a backdoor into their phones? How does the decision that Apple made alter how people
view their privacy? What would happen if Apple hadn t made the decision to not create this
backdoor for the FBI? How would that decision have affected our national security? These
questions are only a few that relate to this issue and there are many other cases, approaches, and
areas of the topic concerning personal privacy in relation to national security and how it is
viewed. The importance of national security and people s feeling of safety and privacy can
influence our national security. The FBI s approach to asking Apple to create the backdoor to hack
into a specific iPhone for a case, although the backdoor would work on any iPhone, opens

succinct analysis. The author provides the reader with an easy to follow set of writing principles.
What is perceive to be the most significant take away ideas are the use active verbs at the
appropriate time, the application of concrete language instead of vague abstractions, and avoiding
long strings of prepositional phrases. Additionally, I value the concepts of employing adjectives

also be fat when the writer uses overabundance of prepositions, unnecessary adjectives, and poor
choice of adverbs. I also like the manner in which Swords points out that some writers ignore all
these rules at times and write masterpieces. Sword moves on to present Shakespeare and Jane

The Struggle Between Love And Hate In Shakespeare s Romeo...
In Shakespeare s cautionary tale Romeo and Juliet, there is constantly a struggle between love and
hate, causing tension throughout the play. But even the most powerful love simply can not
conquer this burning, consuming rage we see surrounding the love. In the end, hate is always the
victor of the struggle in fair Verona .
Firstly, we see how love has conquered hate through Romeo and Juliet s relationship. As Juliet
says, it s her only love sprung from (her) only hate . This oxymoron conveys how her love has
seemingly come from the hate surrounding it, it has survived despite there being overwhelming
hate. We see that this love is also giving them strength. In the balcony scene , Romeo says that her

forbidden relationship. All of the characters are incredibly confused as we see Mercutio believing
this is a vile, dishonourable submission . This attempt to keep peace failed dismally, as
Mercutio chooses to fight. Romeo quickly shifts from love to hate, when Mercutio is brutally
slain, we see him choosing to have fire eyed fury be (his) conduct . His metaphor emphasise how
burning, unstoppable and enraged he is at Tybalt. His view of love has shifted, ridding his love of
Juliet temporarily to choose hate. He blames love instead of praising it, saying it hast made (him)

timid and powerless, and so the hate surrounding the small love pushed Romeo to choose hate

Perception philosophical problems with Perception
First of all, let us know that what this perception is? In general, perception is the process by
which we acquire the information about the world around us and inside us, using our senses. For
example If I feel that a red car is going by the road and a women is sitting on it, drinking coffee,
then first of all I should have sense that what is car, roads, red, coffee etc. These all perceptions
require possession of concepts, but there exists another class of perception that does not require any
possession to perceive them. Let take example of a busy bus stand, ... Show more content on

Two things always try to defend all the theory of relating perception and reality are illusion and
hallucination. Many scenarios we have seen where these two things are really making ourselves to
scratch our heads. Let s look something on illusion. Illusion is nothing but distortion of our senses.
It is shared sometimes that illusion distort reality, but that is not the case, it is just a thought of
some peoples. As we discussed above also that reality is nothing but, a commonly experienced
perception. Some illusions are due to the general assumptions made by our brain during perception.
These generalizations are made on a theory of human perception, which is called gestalt theory. But
the major question comes to my mind is that why do I see illusion or how any visual illusion is able

The Cell Of Adult Stem Cells
A small subpopulation of the proliferating compartment, consisting of relatively undifferentiated
proliferative cells that maintain their population size when they divide, while at the same time
producing progeny that enter a dividing transit population within which further rounds of cell
division occur, together with differentiation events, resulting in the production of the various
differentiated function cells required of the tissue.13
This means that adult stem cells exist in small groups and are mostly undifferentiated, meaning the
cells have the capability to change into one or more cell types over time. While adult stem cells
can be pushed to differentiate into different cell types, they cannot become every cell type in the
body. This results in the adult stem celloffspring only being able to develop into only cell types
related to the tissue of origin. For example, neuronal stem cells may develop into nerve cells of
the brain or spinal cord, but not into cells of other organs, such as the liver. Adult stem cells are
also capable of homing to specific environments in the body and regenerating functional tissue after
injury.14 These additional functions of adult stem cells make them ideal candidates for therapeutic
stem cell medicine because they are able to be used in specific patients to help rebuild damaged
tissue, providing the patient with a better quality of life.
Stem cells can become many different types of cells, they provide researchers the ability to look

Coming Of Age In Mississippi Analysis Essay
Brandi Walker Hist.1302 Professor Solomon April 19, 2015 Coming of Age in Mississippi by

There is the prejudice of facing whites against blacks, and also the prejudice of lighter skinned

by the content of their character . Anne experiences each kind of prejudice, which causes her
great pain. In fact, being the victim of prejudice tends to disgust Anne herself against whites and

Tugaloo College, the place where she joins the civil rights movement, because she fears that it has

the Reverend Edward King, who is, worse yet, a southern white. Finally, after meeting lighter

Homer Hickam s Rocket Boys
Homer H. Hickam Jr. s memoir, Rocket Boys, pursues the idea that hard work and determination
leads to success. The main character, Sonny, transforms into a successful person despite all the
obstacles in his life. His perseverance ultimately leads him to successfully achieving his goal.
The enthralling journey begins with the first passage of the book, which states the difficulty that
Sonny dealt with in his childhood before he could go out and follow his heart to achieve what
he wanted most. Until I began to build and launch rockets, I didn t know my hometown was at
war with itself over its children and that my parents were locked in a kind of bloodless combat over

represented the miners and was successful in signing a temporary agreement.
5.The coal miners were paid 25 cents for, every ton of coal that they dug, hand loaded on coal
cars and pushed to the main shaft. An experienced miner who worked hard during his 10 hour
shift, was given an opportunity to earn $1.60. The collection of rocks, clay and small sized coal
reduced a miner s pay. Miners were also forced to do extra work such as laying tracks, pumping
water, timbering and clearing roof falls that were not part of the pay.
6.The living conditions of the miners were worse in comparison to their work environments.
Among many, there were only two mines that had shower facilities for its workers. The miners and
their families referred the mine houses, as hovels in comparison to the village of Bienfait as they
were forced to live in them so as to maintain the status of a permanent employee that guaranteed

What Was The Cause Of The First World War Essay
The flapping of wings of a butterfly can cause tornadoes. Well, this certainly proved true in the
early part of the 20th century. A single event was to have catastrophic consequences a single
bullet fired in the balmy summer of 1914 led to the deaths of millions and devastation of a scale
never before seen. The assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife was critical
in setting off the chain of events that led to the First World War. Not only was it a bad day for
the Archduke and his family, but also a bad day for Europe. The First World War began just a
shade more than a hundred years ago. This war remains one of the most defining conflicts of
modern time and changed not only Europe, but the entire world in many ways. Franz Ferdinand
(18 December 1863 28 June 1914) was an Archduke of Austria Este, Austria Hungry and Royal

were also responsible for the war. These include include political, territorial and economic conflicts,
militarism, imperialism, the growth of nationalism, a complex web of alliances and the power
vacuum created by the decline of the Ottoman Empire. Throughout the 19th and early 20th century
the Ottoman Empire had lost land in the Balkans to the peoples living there. The great powers,
especially Russia and Austria were interested in extending their influence in the region, leading to
poor relations between them. At the same time, Slav nationalism was growing, especially in Serbia.
Russia encouraged Slav nationalism while Austria worried that this nationalism could undermine
her empire. Russia supported Serbia which was very bitter at the annexation of Bosnia by Austria

my circuit, or at the school tennis courts where I will need my own balls; I will use my own
tennis racket. The main risk of injury is from overusing my right arm and shoulder, which could
cause overuse injuries such as tennis elbow . To prevent these as best as possible I will be

Ukiyo-E Influence
For over 250 years, Japan was under strict military dictatorship. However, between the 1670s
through 1865 was the Tokugawa period or also known as the Edo period, where Japan found
internal peace and economic growth (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). Not only has
Japan found stability in the Edo period, creativity flourished from the lower class of artisans and
merchants through ukiyo e printmaking. The term, ukiyo e, is a combination of uki (floating), yo

displaying actresses, and prostitutes that were accessible to mass audience in form of

Demographic Transition From Rural to Urban Areas
From 2000 until 2030 the urbanized areas will be nearly tripled1 because of the demographic
transition from rural to urban. The use of dark building materials, such as asphalt and concrete,
leads to a lower albedo in urbanized areas than in natural environment2, fostering local and global
warming. In turn, the increase in urban albedo might support climatestabilization efforts3. Here, we
investigate the potential effect of the increase in albedo in a representative set of European cities
relying on instantaneous radiative forcing (IRF), urban cooling and the consequent effect on
mortality, ozone formation and energy use. Apart from any geographical distinction, cities show
that the increases in albedo in compact cities have a cooling... Show more content on

Furthermore, we use the effect of the local variation in temperature on the heating and cooling
degree days (HDD) (CDD) as a proxy for the effect on energy use and on the related greenhouse
gas emissions. Although these indicators are not representative of all t, they cover the most
important ones. We calculate the potential effect of the local unitary increase in albedo on IRF
responsiveness (R) for a sample of 145 cities and urbanized areas in three geographical areas:
southern; central; and northern Europe (see Methods). Low cloudiness and high solar radiation
make R in southern European cities two times higher than in other regions (see SI Table 1). The
mean R in northern European cities is slightly higher than in central European cities with values of
46 and 45 Wm 2 respectively (Fig. 1) since cloudiness is lower in northern Europe. This result
shows that climatological features would potentially make southern cities more effective that
central and northern European ones in counteracting climate change.
Apart from any geographical and climatological distinction, the peculiar size and the morphological
characterization of each city may play a role in affecting IRF. We calculate the potential increase in

Carl Gustav Jung and the Buddhist Mandala Essay
Carl Gustav Jung and the Buddhist Mandala
A one time disciple of Sigmund Freud s, Carl Gustav Jung (1875 1961) is credited with
contributing significantly to the burgeoning field of psychotherapy by formulating some of the first
ideas regarding dream analysis, psychological complexes and archetypes (paradigmatic images or
instinctive impulses to action). As part of his search for universal keys to the human psyche, Jung
also studied and wrote numerous commentaries throughout his career on Eastern religious texts and
practices. His reading of Buddhism however, is fundamentally faulted as evidenced by his
misunderstanding and misrepresentation of mandala symbolism.
Originally, Buddhist mandalas1 aide mГ©moires that helped ... Show more content on

He writes [the mandala is the] living conception of the self. The self, I thought, was like the monad
that I am, and which is my world. The mandala represents this monad, and corresponds to the
microcosmic nature of the psyche. (196).
Buddhist mandala meditations thus functioned to deconstruct self centeredness, but Jungian
mandalas served to affirm, sustain and maintain the health and integrity of the monad of the self.
And while Buddhist mandala visualizations culminated in the existential act of dissolving elaborate
self constructions into emptiness, Jung s mandala therapy ultimately culminated in individuation or
the personal and conscious realization of the universal Self that lies at the unconscious center of our
being. 5
In light of his universal psychologizing of the mandala motif, one must ask just how or why Jung
hermeneutically superimposed his psychological balancing act of conscious and unconscious
elements over the mandala motif, when

The Prince vs. Henry V A comparison of attributes After reading Machiavelli s The Prince and

idea of what a perfect king should be. The patterns between the ideal ruler of Shakespeare and
the ideal ruler of Machiavelli can be seen in numerous instances throughout this story. For the
duration of this essay, I will compare the similarities in both pieces to give the reader a better

While speaking to the governor, Henry literally scares the people of Harfleur into submission
and gains entry to the city without further fighting. This shows a definite similarity in what
Machiavelli and Shakespeare view in their leader. As a king, Henry becomes known for being a
man of resilience, strategy, and combat. These traits, according to Machiavelli, are necessary to
become the ideal king. As stated by Machiavelli, ...a prince ought to have no other aim or
thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline; for this is
the sole art that belongs to him who rules. (Machiavelli) This can be seen when the Dauphin
presents Henry with a gift of tennis balls and an insulting speech practically telling him to stay
out of grown men s affairs. This gives Henry the leverage he needs to start a war with France
without looking like the instigator. He can now put the blame of war on the Dauphin and the many
lives of whom will be killed. Henry uses this to move toward his strength and show his full
potential. Another example can be seen when Henry has to hang Bardolph for plundering during
the invasion of France. Years earlier, while drinking in the tavern, Bardolph had asked Prince Henry
this question, Do not thou, when thou art king, hang a thief? Prince Henry replied, No, thou

The Asthma severity is determined by lung function values and asthma symptoms. However there
are essential issues involved in asthma severity that include symptoms and objective measures of
lung function on the same scale. For example, frequent symptoms have the exact significance as

as studies have shown that there is poor relationship between asthmasymptoms and objective

The Restoration of Strong Government Under Henry VII Essay
The Restoration of Strong Government Under Henry VII
Henry VII s relations with the nobility are controversial, but views of his success are subjective.
When discussing degrees of success, there must be criteria on which to judge the subject. In this
case restoration of strong government can be measured by a close study of what Henry VII set out
to achieve and whether he fulfilled his aims. He appreciated the nobility s importance in local
governance and did not want to crush them, but merely control and limit their power, preventing
rebellion and civil war. This essay examines the level of success Henry had in implementing his
methods.
I agree to an extent that the nobility was the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did this by rewarding 37 proven loyal nobles with the Order of Garter. This was the highest
award of chivalry, but was without the financial obligations of titles. Thus, Henry successfully
managed the number of nobles creating a select, loyal, controllable group.
Henry had close interest in the marriages of the nobility because under the feudal system, his
permission was required for marriage. In the Middle Ages, it was common for powerful nobles to
marry heiresses creating vast estates over which they had almost complete power. To stop this
happening, Henry ensured that leading magnates and their sons did not marry heiresses, thus
preventing the creation of super nobles . This prevented families such as the Stafford s and the
Percy s from becoming too powerful. He also gave the inheritance of many unmarried women to
the Crown. In this way Henry was really successful in limiting the power of nobility.
Henry, whilst respecting the local authority of the nobles, minimised their power in his central
council. As Carpenter says, the only men who Henry really did trust were certain officials...mostly
of gentry region. Not all Henry s advisors were gentry, but many were. Sir Richard Empson and
Edmund Dudly were mere lawyers and yet, tow of the most powerful people in the country in their
roles as heads

The Contribution Of David Hunter Hubel
Introduction In 1981, D.H Hubel and T.N Wiesel were awarded half of the Nobel prize in
Physiology or Medicine, along with R.W. Sperry who received the other half. The two had been
conducting experiments and publishing their findings together for over twenty years, before they
were awarded the Nobel prize for their discoveries concerning information processing in the visual
system. They produced many reports including single and complex cells, and ocular dominance.
Their work provided better understanding of the visual system and therefore led the way for others
to develop knowledge and treatment of eye conditions. Their discovery also helped other scientists
to conduct and publish work of their own.
Background
David Hunter Hubel was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their experiments took place on anaesthetized cats with microelectrodes inserted into their primary
visual cortex, their eyes were also held open allowing the experiment to be conducted. Small spots
of light were shone onto the restricted retinal regions which often would cause brisk responses and
could be divided into excitatory and inhibitory regions (shown in fig.1). Excitatory areas if
illuminated produced an increased frequency of firing compared to inhibitory regions, although
both did produce responses. Stationary spots showed that the excitatory and inhibitory regions were
aligned side by side within the central responsive area, flanked by antagonistic areas. Light stimulus
covering the whole receptive field was practically ineffective in most units due to mutual
antagonism between excitatory and inhibitory regions, shown in figure 1 (f).
A vertical slit of light was projected, which only covered the excitatory areas and avoided all
inhibitory areas, however when turned horizontally, it touched inhibitory areas and responses were
dramatically reduced or lost completely. This was due to the stimulation of excitatory areas being
smaller than the antagonistic areas that were stimulated and thus responses shielded. The excitatory
and inhibitory areas had similar shape and positioning and responded in the same way to directional
movement (Hubel and Wiesel, 1959).

Charlie Vs. Gordon Effect In Flowers For Algernon
Flowers For Algernon
In the story Flowers for Algernon, Charlie, our main character, is presented a choice to triple his
IQ for a short time and possibly forever, or to stay the way he is. It wouldn t be a good story if he
turned down the offer so of course he chose to have the operation. Later on in the story he slowly
becomes smarter, and then back to his normal self. I believe that Charlie should have had the
operation because he helped make a scientific breakthrough, It was a good experience for him,
and it made people respect him more. If we look at how he made a scientific breakthrough just
think about it. Charlie was the first human to have a successful brain operation that made him
learn quicker and overall smarter than he was. Through the course of the book, toward the middle
Charlie is at his mental peak, he begins to write a paper titled the Algernon Gordon effect. As the
readers of the book we don t know what is exactly written in that paper so we will have ... Show

In the book, the story is composed of Progress Reports , as a way of keeping track of Charlie s
thoughts and how he progresses after the operation, he probably has some of his progress reports
in the paper. He also has some of how the operation works as Charlie states I have included in my
report all my formulae, as well as mathematical analysis in the appendix. (Daniel Keyes, Page 218)
That means in his report he has a formula of some type that connects with the operation in some
sort of way. If we take a look at the other side of the coin we find that, later on in the book, Charlie
loses his intelligence and goes back to normal which some would say is why he shouldn t have the
operation but think about it, the first model of something new, let s say the

He is using the character of Jamal to do so. Through the character of Jamal, Daniels is showing
how hard it can be for an African American man to be gay. They get disowned by ones that
should love, cherish, and protect them and they do not get treated with respect in the society.
Daniels also uses the relationship between Jamal and Luscious to channel Beliefs and Values of
homophobia in the African American community. In the article, Five Key Questions of Media
Literacy, it states that media of all kinds carry messages about whom and what is important
those are the belief and values that the media is sending . Lucious believes that Empire s fans
will not approve of Jamal s sexuality and encourages him to keep his sexual orientation hidden to
prevent harming the reputation of Empire. During the fourth episode, Lucious threatens to stop
supporting Jamal all together if he decides to reveal his sexuality. Jamal then moves out of the
apartment that his father is paying for because he realizes that by continuing to allow his father to
pay for his living expenses is giving his father the right to make demands about what he think is
best for Jamal. This then starts a war between the two. Jamal becomes more focused on himself
and his freedom and Lucious does whatever he can to keep Jamal from the media, even prevented
him from releasing

Peng et al. (2008) articulates a framework in which firm resources and capabilities are viewed as
one of three antecedents of a firm s international business strategy (the other two being industry
based competition and institutional conditions and transitions). Thus, the current literature sheds
light only on how the capabilities of MNEs enable them to formulate appropriate strategic choices
that match their resources with opportunities in their external, that is, their global, environment.
However, mechanisms that ensure successful implementation of the chosen strategies remain
unclear. While we assume that MNEs should be able to establish appropriate structures to match
their strategies, research has shown that there is a lot of incongruence between MNE strategy and
structure (Duysters and Hagedoorn 2001). Effective Global Strategy Implementation 181 Based on
this backdrop and drawing from the strategic fit literature, the purpose of this paper is to offer a
contingency framework of global strategy implementation effectiveness on firm performance. The
research question we seek to answer is what the structural and process requirements are for MNEs
to successfully implement global strategy through increased efficiency and effectiveness of
integration and coordination across world markets. Our central premise is that MNEs capabilities in

Romeo s Honesty
Well in my honest to god opinion I believe that Romeo did not in fact happen to be in love with
Juliet not only do I believe this I can also prove this. Which is what I shall do for you on this
essay. I honestly hope you don t get lost or confused and I hope I can make you see how I see
this. First, In the beginning of the story Romeo not only happens to be in lovewith someone else.
That person ends up not loving him back and hurting him. Now what this has to do with this is
that when you get your heart broken by someone that you gave everything to and end up finding
out that they do not feel the same at all you get hurt. There is no way to prevent that unless of
course that you are not actually in love with that person. Also when your hearty gets broken you
ended up becoming what I like to call love blind. It is where u do not care for only love anymore
you want to be in control. You want to make sure that other person loves you no matter what the
cost. And this times you want looks, action, and respect. You want to be the center of their attention
and what this ends up coming to in the end is that you think you are trying to avoid being hurts
again.
Next, Romeo went to a party and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

want the child just to get on her daddy s side so he will give her the attention that she wants even
if it did happen to take Romeo s and her child s life? I only believe in what the facts show. Now, I
would like you to stop and think would you marry someone or say you are in love with someone
before even getting to know that person? I know I would

Alexander Mcqueen Research Paper
Alexander McQueen is still known for his unique designs even after he s death. He was born in
London, England on March 17th 1969.
His fashion career started at the ripe age of 16, when he started working on Savile Row Street in
London s Mayfair district. There, he was employed with the tailor shop Anderson and Shephard,
and then Gieves and Hawkes. After a while, he began working with costume designers Angels and
Bermans, where his work would be trademarked later in his life.
At a very young age, Alexander was offered three apprenticeships that all consisted in construction
of clothing. While he was doing this work, he learned and mastered 6 methods of pattern cutting
that were used in the 16th century. Designer Koji Tatsuno employed him and a year later he was
employed as Romeo Gigli s design assistant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He opened stores in major cities such as New York and Milan. Leaving Givenchy seemed to give
him the opportunity to produce more appealing shows. An example of this is the hologram of
model Kate Moss that was present in his 2006 Fall/Winter line.
Two tragedies struck McQueen, one in 2007, when close friends Isabella Blow committed suicide.
Her death was the most valuable thing I learnt in fashion and it was for this reason that he
dedicated his 2008 Spring/Summer line. The second one occurred a couple of years later, when
McQueen s mother died. A few days later, after her shocking death McQueen himself was found
dead in his apartment, the cause of death being suicide.
Sarah Burton, co designer in McQueen s company, became the new creative director after
McQueen s death. McQueen s benefaction to fashion was celebrated in 2011 at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, where some of his creations were shown in remembrance of

A Report On The Resin Based Adhesives
Summary The Aracuo mill in Sault Ste Marie manufactures a range of medium density fibreboard
(MDF) composite panels as well as a wide selection of thermally fused laminates (Arauco, 2016).
The resin based adhesives used in the manufacturing process of these materials create a source for
airborne formaldehyde in the workplace. This presents a substantial health concern for workers in
the Sault Ste. Marie Facility. Subsequently, routine air sampling is conducted to ensure safe
working conditions. At present the Arauco Sault Ste. Marie facility maintains an air sampling
program using the NIOSH 2016, Issue 2 method. While the current program is cost effective it has
numerous limitations, such as limited sampling locations and infrequent collection of data. It is
recommended that the Arauco Sault Ste. Marie facility consider implementing a more
comprehensive air sampling program. While this would likely increase program costs, changes to
the air sampling approach would remove sampler error, greatly increase the quantity of data
collected, and extend sampling locations throughout the facility. Implementation of some or all of
these recommendations would greatly increase the comprehensiveness of the air sampling program.
1.0 Introduction Arauco manufactures a range of sustainable wood products including the industry
s most comprehensive selection of composite panels, premium plywood, millwork, lumber, and

Arkansas Rhetorical Analysis
The Confederacy gained support after shots rang at Ft. Sumter on xxx 1861. Before that event,
Arkansas preferred to remain neutral and hoped for a peaceful outcome to the divided country.
President Lincoln s decision to issue a call for troops signified an attempt to use violence to
preserve the union, and triggered a vote that would change Arkansas forever. The elected leaders of
Arkansas by a margin of 69 to 1 passed a disunion ordinance and chose to stand with the
Confederate States to oppose Northern aggression, unfortunately there loyalty went
underappreciated as Arkansas geographical and political significance went overlooked by
confederate leaders and their war strategy. This strategic error resulted in limited government

Hindman assumed command of the Trans Mississippi District, an area that stretched Missouri to
Louisiana. Charged with the organization of troops to defend the states of Texas, Missouri,
Arkansas, Louisiana, and the Indian Territory, he had the appropriate authority but very few
resources. With limited forces, he imposed martial law throughout Arkansas in order to seize
munitions, gather supplies, and enforce the Conscription Act. He initiated the rationing of
goods and ordered the forming of independent Guerilla bands. Groups known as the Bands of
Tens formed from his issuance of General Orders Number 17, which called for all citizens to
assemble in groups of ten and elect a captain. The group s sole mission was to annoy and harass
the union army whenever and wherever possible, just as Hindman envisioned the Spanish doing
to Napoleon s Army. The strategic objective of this action was to slow down the Union armies
long enough to rebuild a conventional force. His efforts were relatively successful as he was
able to amass 18000 regular forces and over 5000 irregular troops. Even with limited resources, a
leader with vision and an understanding of military theory can develop a strategy, which if given
some assistance can prove to be extremely effective. His newly formed army showed promise
against Curtis s Army of the Southwest in June

  • 2. Jim Crow Laws Vs Apartheid As a result of the government mandated segregation, resistance in both the United States and South Africa escalated. In other words, the history of the African civil rights movement taught: Nationalism has been tested in the people s struggles . . . and found to be the only antidote against foreign rule and modern imperialism (Mandela, Long Walk to Freedom 2008, 156). By comparing and contrasting the Jim Crow Laws and apartheid, we are able convey that nationalism ultimately lead to activism and reform. In both countries, the schism between Africans and their government worsened. To illustrate: [The Emancipation Proclamation] ended [slavery] . . . , but blacks . . . had more in common with African American slaves . . . than with the [Caucasian businessmen] (Bausum 2012, 19). For instance, Congress passed the discriminatory Jim Crow Laws in order to establish a hierarchy based on the plantation mentality (Bausum 2012, 14). For South Africans, the National Party (the Nats) in 1948, made apartheid the official law. Both forms of segregation continued the cycle of poverty for coloured people and ensured [that Caucasians had better quality education], hospitals, and other public services (Rose 2011, 12). For example, African American garbage men s insufficient salary was based on their garbage routes rather than an hourly wage (Bausum 2012, 14). Similarly, black South African staff received inadequate pay and the law outlawed strikes and the formation of unions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The For The International Baccalaureate Diploma As we are approaching the road to the International Baccalaureate Diploma, there is a preponderant need to become prepared for what will be coming our way. In order to familiarize ourselves with what is coming our way, we were assigned a source evaluation paper. In this paper, our goal was to firstly select a topic we are essentially interested in and then determine scholarly sources that would greatly aid us in formulating a potential research exposition. Our job was to find two sources that are written by scholars within our topics; their scholarliness is fundamentally judged by whether they have pursued a doctorate degree in their field of study or not and the date of publication. The more recent the work is, the reliability rate is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He received his PhD at Dropsie College of Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia, writing his dissertation on Isaac Abrabanel, a Jewish scholar and statesman who opposed the banishment of Jews from Spain. In his book, called The Founding Fathers of Zionism, Netanyahu explores the many points of view of Zionism and the impact it has created on the persons involved along with the spread of Zionism across the Jewish community. The core reason of approaching this topic, Zionism was because of the personal connection I have towards it. Zionism was portrayed in one way all my life and it was an unclear topic that I became to grow to want to learn more about. I really wanted to look more into it in the summer of 2014, when Palestinians were being massacred and killed in various violent ways in Palestine by Zionists. The news always briefly went over the thousands of people that were getting killed without actually explaining the cause and effect and overlooking each life that was taken away. This gave me the urge to dig deeper into the concept of Zionism and the roots of where it came from, and how it had formed and spread to have influenced the people. Netanyahu was able to demonstrate in depth all aspects of Zionism and demonstrate his influence. This collegiate novel written by Netanyahu broadened my views on Zionism and on the various aspects that others habitually criticize about the topic. After getting hold of this book, I ... Molecular Dynamics Based Investigation to Study the Effect of Pair of Stone Thrower Wales Defects on the Mechanical Response and Failure Morphology of Graphene G. Rajasekaran, Rajesh Kumar and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India ABSTRACT Structural defects are inevitable in graphene due to its production techniques as well as chemical and heat treatment processes. These defects in graphene are introduced either during the production process or deliberately by us to tailor its properties. In this article, the effect of nearest neighbour distance and angular orientation between Stone Thrower Wales defects (STW 2) on the mechanical properties and failure morphology of graphene was investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics. Mechanical properties and failure morphology of graphene was predicted to be the function of angular orientation between STW 2 defects, when the nearest neighbour distance was in the range of 10 Г…. Graphene sheet containing pair of STW 2 defects had shown an overall increase of 8% and 11% in fracture strength and strain respectively as compared to graphene with single STW 2 defect. This study also characterised the failure morphology of graphene sheet with single and pair of STW 2 defects in the armchair direction. • 10. Comparing Frankenstein And The Fairie Queene Studying literature is in great part about analyzing the work. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley gives the power of literacy to the monster in her novel Frankenstein to humanize him as well as to equip him with a moral compass which would have been difficult for him to pick up on otherwise. The treasure of literature for Frankensteins monster includes John Milton s Paradise Lostto bring into question the role of the creator and creation as seen in God and man and Frankenstein and his seemingly horrific figure, while the use of Edmund Spenser s The Fairie Queene could have been used to underline the difference between right and wrong. Shelley s humanization of the monster lies in his imperfection and makes the reader question just why he has been cast aside by humanity. If the reader accepts the fall of man as punishment, for Adam and Eve s mistake they can see that the monster s creation itself is not for him to be punished, but for Frankenstein. Watching the eyes of your comrade s glaze over, while your mind explodes with horror. Nobody can possibly question the fear, the blood, the heartache, and the terrors that haunted those men for the rest of their lives. Sometimes, we just see all soldiers as one body, one personality; we forget that each soldier, though fighting for the same cause, had his own moral and mental battles to attend to. Some began to argue that the celebrations glorified war and allowed it to be justified. This was rivalled by the opinion that the Gallipoli tragedies were a defining moment in Australian history, and that Anzac day had the ability to unify the nation. Many Australians can trace their ancestry back to a person involved in WW1, which means that families tend to have a more emotional attachment to the topic, and they find comfort and pride in the Anzac legend. Although the legend doesn t really capture the diversity amongst the people who stepped up to answer the call, nor their varying experiences, it gives depth to our nations history, and shows the raw emotion and the kindred spirit of all the soldiers. The way Robert Hayden wrote this poem, perfectly describes a broken family without saying it directly, but through the way the poem is formatted. In the poem Those Winter Sundays ,Robert Hayden exposese the ignorance that results in a broken relationship between the father and child, through grim diction, apologetic tone, conflicting imagery. The use of grim diction throughout the poem reveals the negative relationship between the father and child just by the words the author choose. In the poem when the father is getting ready, Hayden describes the environment in the house as Blueblack Cold (Hayden 2). In this part of the poem the father is getting up to warm the house, because of the time period this poem takes place in.If the author was only describing the temperature of the room he problem would said it straight forwards, since this is not the case it is obvious that Hayden is not describing the temperature of the house . By using Blueblack to describe the cold, it gives a powerful adjective describing the cold. When we think of the world blueblack we tend to think of the skin color of a person who has been in the snow for a long time ,so blueblack describe an extreme cold. Cold has a negative connotation in many poems, in this case the cold is the relationship between father and child.By using Blueblack cold as the adjective for cold is makes the reader assume that their relationship between father and child is extremely bad.The speaker describes the place that he is raised in as that house (9).If this was a short story and not a poem that phrasewould have been glanced over without a second thought, but since this is a poem that is not the case. The way the speaker describes the place he lived in by the wordchoose alone, reveals a lot about the father and child relationship. By using the word that , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The article also stated as follows: But the 80s were a period when, as was the case nationwide, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer; an increase in the number of low paying jobs for Minnesota was coupled with a decrease in some high paying jobs. The pay in many occupations, most of them low paying service jobs, actually lost ground to inflation during the decade. The same thing happened to people receiving welfare benefits (Klauda 2). Warrior Women Oppression Warrior Women: Oppression and Strength of Female Protagonists in Mrs. Dalloway, The Woman Warrior, and The Handmaid s Tale In most history books, women get far fewer pages than men. This is sometimes attributed to a lack of material left behind by women through time, but this and their relative lack of coverage are both testaments to the limits placed on women in the male dominated societies of the times discussed. An article on feminist literary criticism quotes Virginia Woolf saying, womanpervaded poetry from cover to cover but was in fact the slave of any boy whose parents forced a ring on her finger (Lanser 5). The Invasion Of Privacy And Concern For Safety Introduction: The invasion of privacy and concern for safety has been an increasing worry among people who live in the United States and across the world. The main issue is how does the government s actions change how people view their own security and even national security. Broader theories of this research question would be how the government s interaction with technology and securityinfluence how people think about their own personal privacyand safety as well as our national security. Some central questions that are critical to how to analyze this growing problem are the following: What does the NSA really collect and how does that differ from what people believe that they collect? What is the significance of the FBI asking Apple to create a backdoor into their phones? How does the decision that Apple made alter how people view their privacy? What would happen if Apple hadn t made the decision to not create this backdoor for the FBI? How would that decision have affected our national security? These questions are only a few that relate to this issue and there are many other cases, approaches, and areas of the topic concerning personal privacy in relation to national security and how it is viewed. In Shakespeare s cautionary tale Romeo and Juliet, there is constantly a struggle between love and hate, causing tension throughout the play. But even the most powerful love simply can not conquer this burning, consuming rage we see surrounding the love. In the end, hate is always the victor of the struggle in fair Verona . Firstly, we see how love has conquered hate through Romeo and Juliet s relationship. As Juliet says, it s her only love sprung from (her) only hate . He responds in affectionate tones calling Tybalt brother and insisting that he loves (him) more than (he) can devise . This is also use of dramatic irony, as only the audience and Romeo know of this forbidden relationship. All of the characters are incredibly confused as we see Mercutio believing this is a vile, dishonourable submission . This attempt to keep peace failed dismally, as Mercutio chooses to fight. Romeo quickly shifts from love to hate, when Mercutio is brutally slain, we see him choosing to have fire eyed fury be (his) conduct . His metaphor emphasise how burning, unstoppable and enraged he is at Tybalt. His view of love has shifted, ridding his love of Juliet temporarily to choose hate. The Cell Of Adult Stem Cells A small subpopulation of the proliferating compartment, consisting of relatively undifferentiated proliferative cells that maintain their population size when they divide, while at the same time producing progeny that enter a dividing transit population within which further rounds of cell division occur, together with differentiation events, resulting in the production of the various differentiated function cells required of the tissue.13 This means that adult stem cells exist in small groups and are mostly undifferentiated, meaning the cells have the capability to change into one or more cell types over time. While adult stem cells can be pushed to differentiate into different cell types, they cannot become every cell type in the body. This results in the adult stem celloffspring only being able to develop into only cell types related to the tissue of origin. For example, neuronal stem cells may develop into nerve cells of the brain or spinal cord, but not into cells of other organs, such as the liver. Adult stem cells are also capable of homing to specific environments in the body and regenerating functional tissue after injury.14 These additional functions of adult stem cells make them ideal candidates for therapeutic stem cell medicine because they are able to be used in specific patients to help rebuild damaged tissue, providing the patient with a better quality of life. And while Buddhist mandala visualizations culminated in the existential act of dissolving elaborate self constructions into emptiness, Jung s mandala therapy ultimately culminated in individuation or the personal and conscious realization of the universal Self that lies at the unconscious center of our being. 5 In light of his universal psychologizing of the mandala motif, one must ask just how or why Jung hermeneutically superimposed his psychological balancing act of conscious and unconscious elements over the mandala motif, when ... For the duration of this essay, I will compare the similarities in both pieces to give the reader a better understanding of how Shakespeare devised his view of what a perfect king should be. One can see an example while looking back on Henry s youthful experiences. Before taking oath as king, Henry was involved with some scrupulous characters. He would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While speaking to the governor, Henry literally scares the people of Harfleur into submission and gains entry to the city without further fighting. This shows a definite similarity in what Machiavelli and Shakespeare view in their leader. As a king, Henry becomes known for being a man of resilience, strategy, and combat. These traits, according to Machiavelli, are necessary to become the ideal king. As stated by Machiavelli, ...a prince ought to have no other aim or thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline; for this is the sole art that belongs to him who rules. (Machiavelli) This can be seen when the Dauphin presents Henry with a gift of tennis balls and an insulting speech practically telling him to stay out of grown men s affairs. This gives Henry the leverage he needs to start a war with France without looking like the instigator. He can now put the blame of war on the Dauphin and the many lives of whom will be killed. Henry uses this to move toward his strength and show his full potential. Another example can be seen when Henry has to hang Bardolph for plundering during the invasion of France. Years earlier, while drinking in the tavern, Bardolph had asked Prince Henry this question, Do not thou, when thou art king, hang a thief? Prince Henry replied, No, thou ... The Restoration of Strong Government Under Henry VII Essay The Restoration of Strong Government Under Henry VII Henry VII s relations with the nobility are controversial, but views of his success are subjective. When discussing degrees of success, there must be criteria on which to judge the subject. Henry had close interest in the marriages of the nobility because under the feudal system, his permission was required for marriage. In the Middle Ages, it was common for powerful nobles to marry heiresses creating vast estates over which they had almost complete power. To stop this happening, Henry ensured that leading magnates and their sons did not marry heiresses, thus preventing the creation of super nobles . This prevented families such as the Stafford s and the Percy s from becoming too powerful. He also gave the inheritance of many unmarried women to the Crown. Small spots of light were shone onto the restricted retinal regions which often would cause brisk responses and could be divided into excitatory and inhibitory regions (shown in fig.1). Excitatory areas if illuminated produced an increased frequency of firing compared to inhibitory regions, although both did produce responses. Stationary spots showed that the excitatory and inhibitory regions were aligned side by side within the central responsive area, flanked by antagonistic areas. Light stimulus covering the whole receptive field was practically ineffective in most units due to mutual antagonism between excitatory and inhibitory regions, shown in figure 1 (f). A vertical slit of light was projected, which only covered the excitatory areas and avoided all inhibitory areas, however when turned horizontally, it touched inhibitory areas and responses were dramatically reduced or lost completely. This was due to the stimulation of excitatory areas being smaller than the antagonistic areas that were stimulated and thus responses shielded. The excitatory and inhibitory areas had similar shape and positioning and responded in the same way to directional movement (Hubel and Wiesel, 1959). Simple and Complex Cells ... A Report On The Resin Based Adhesives Summary The Aracuo mill in Sault Ste Marie manufactures a range of medium density fibreboard (MDF) composite panels as well as a wide selection of thermally fused laminates (Arauco, 2016). The resin based adhesives used in the manufacturing process of these materials create a source for airborne formaldehyde in the workplace. At present the Arauco Sault Ste. Marie facility maintains an air sampling program using the NIOSH 2016, Issue 2 method.
