Australian Impressionism In Australia
Despite a brief lifespan between 1885 1903, the Heidelberg School or, more formally, the Australian
impressionism movement (Splatt and McLellan 1986, 1), significantly aided in defining the role of
landscape in Australian art (McCaughey 1979, 7). The Heidelberg School s establishment of a
unique national identity, use of techniques such as plein airism and Impressionism, accurate
portrayal of the Australian Landscape, and incorporation of the rural mythology, ...shaped the
Australian vision... and tied landscape to the white Australian identity (McCaughey 1979, 6 9 :
Astbury 1985, 1). Arthur Streeton s Golden Summer, Eaglemont (1889) and Blossoms, Box Hill
(1890) as well as Frederick McCubbin s On the wallaby track (1896) and Bush Study (1902)...

During the early settlement of Australia, art was primarily used for documentary purposes by
ammeters and pioneers (Splatt and McLellan 1986, 1). The arrival of trained European artists
yielded a wave of Colonial oil paintings (Manton 1979, 58), however, these artists were ...trained to
regard the landscapes of Europe as the norm. and therefore their work could not accurately portray
the Australian identity and atmosphere (Splatt and McLellan 1986, 1 2). These Colonial artists
...retained the smooth, anonymous surface established by academic procedures and practice.
(Manton 1979, 58). As such, their European eye and techniques distorted the Australian landscape
into picturesque, park like green hills and bubbling streams bathed in a gentle light. (Australian
Government, 2009), often grounded ....in the middle distance... (McCaughey 1979, 7). In a stark
contrast, the landscapes produced by Heidelberg School artists were lauded for their portrayal of
the Australian landscape ...experience(,) realized fully in paint. (McCaughey 1979, 7). Frederick
McCubbin s Bush Study (1902) exemplifies the difference between the work of Colonial artists and
those of the Heidelberg School with its use of Impressionist techniques becoming ...an essential and
explicit part of the painting. (Manton 1979, 58). Within this work, the bush is treated as a familiar
abundance and brought ...forward, virtually right up on to the picture plane. (ibid). The ...iridescent
palette and roughened paint texture... of the work immerses the viewer allowing them to gather a
sense of the heat dulled, melancholic Australian bush landscape (ibid, 54 58). McCubbin s work, as
with other Heidelberg School paintings, depict ...a world which is natural , self contained, self
sufficient and paradigmatically Australian. (Hills 1991,

Handedness Of An Individual Can Be Determined
Handedness
Handedness of an individual can be determined by knowing which hand(right or/and left hand ) is
used high frequently for performing the tasks. Most of the people around the world are right
handed. There are four type of handedness. They are
Right handedness Major usage of right hand for most activities
Left handedness Major usage of left hand
Cross dominance Usage of separate hands for separate tasks
Ambidexterity Using both hands equally
Origin:
Different statistics study shows that certain percentage of population belong to particular category
is likely to be left or right handed. The motor homunculus as shown in the picture represent the
division of motor cortex that contribute to different structures of the body. Hand movement
involve fine control over the motor area. The differentiation occur in the region of brain more
particularly in the motor cortex in the cerebrum. For right handedness people the left hemisphere
of the brain dominates and vice versa.. Researchers from University of Oxford and its collaborated
universities found the link between the handedness and gene that is involved in this process which
is mainly PCSK6 gene[1]. A study conducted with approximately 54,000 individuals revealed that
24% handedness is contributed by genetic factor. [2] These gene can be influenced by cultural and
social pressure that can result in right handedness child born to left handed parents. Broca s area

Racial Representation In The Oscar Awards
Trying to fix a diversity problem doesn t have an instant solution. The Academy is facing this and
dealing with the racial representation in the Oscar Awards as it has become a huge problem in
Hollywood. Ira Deutchman, a member of the Academy, has stated Like many Academy members, I
was embarrassed and disappointed when this year s Oscar nominees were announced, but I wasn t

Hollywood, both on the screen and in executive suites. On the other hand, when fingers were

Moses And David Research Paper
David from 1 Samuel and Moses from the Exodus, are some of the most important characters of the
Old Testament. Moses and David, have many similarities and differences throughout their lives.
They are both referred to as men or servants of God. However, they represent vastly different
functions within the Bible. While both Davidand Mosesserve God, they do so in extremely
contrasting ways.
The lives of Moses and David contain many similarities in their youth. Both Moses and David
were the youngest child of their families. Also, both prophets came from troubled family
situations. Moses and David both grew up in wealthy households that took them in. First, David
was raised in the palace of Saul. The prophet Samuel explains, And David came to ... Show more

First, they both antagonize their rulers. Likewise, this causes them to lose the favor of their
adoptive households. Interestingly, Moses and David, both distinguish themselves and lose
royal favor, by killing someone. First, David loses favor and becomes a significant figure by
killing Goliath. As a result, Saul begins to fear David. Similarly, Moses kills an Egyptian slave
driver, which angers the Pharaoh. Both of these deaths, symbolize the beginning of the divine
missions of David and Moses. As a result, they both begin confronting the authority in the region.
David begins directly fighting against Saul. Moses begins confronting the Pharaoh with plagues.
However, at this time the first major difference between Moses and David becomes apparent.
David spoke through God indirectly through the prophet Samuel. But Moses, was a prophet, so
spoke to God directly. However, this point of their lives poses additional similarities. During this
time of their lives, both Moses and David worked as shepherds. Likewise, their opponents
constantly began to yield, but changed their minds. The Pharaoh at many points stated that he
would free the Jews. For example, the Pharaoh said, I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer,
(Exodus 9:28). However, the Pharaoh constantly changed his mind because, The Lord hardened the
heart of Pharaoh, (Exodus 9:12). Similarly, at many times Saul considered making peace with
David. However, he must change his mind, until he is eventually defeated and David becomes

Importance Of Being Earnest
The Importance of Being Ernest is a comedic play written by Oscar Wilde. It was set and written
during the Victorian Era, and is a parody of the Victorian culture. In the play, there are many
different contrasting characters, including the main character Jack, and Algernon, who we find is
his brother later in the play. Algernon is a very unserious person, who is also quite irresponsible,
and just wants things in life to be fun. We see this a few times throughout the play. For example,
when there has been a big argument between Jack and Algernon and their fiancГ©s, he eats
muffins, and says, when asked about it Well, I can t eat muffins in an agitated manner. The butter
would get on my cuffs. One should always eat muffins calmly. This shows... Show more content on

One similarity is that they re both quite deceptive in order to achieve what they want. The reason
we know this is because they both Bunbury . One point where we see Algernon reveal that he
thinks Bunburying , or using a fake identity or person, is an okay and a normal things to do is
where he says I naturally want to talk to you about Bunburying. I want to tell you all of the rules.
From this, we know that he thinks it s a fine thing to do, and we know that he himself is also quite
deceitful in that way. Also, it shows us that he s happy to find out that Jack does the same as him,
and him not finding it strange means that he thinks it s quite a common thing to be done. Both
characters are untruthful about their true identities at different points in the play, with them both

The Pros And Cons Of Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy
Radiation therapy is when radiation is directed at rapidly growing cancer cells, damaging DNA
and chromosomes to kill cells (Rhine 17). It can be done with external beam radiation therapy, or
by radioembolization. External beam radiation therapy is used to shrink liver tumors, but is used
less frequently than tumor ablation and embolization. The treatment for radiation therapy lasts for
only a few minutes, however, they are given for several weeks. Stereotactic body radiation
therapy, or SBRT, uses a very focus beam of high dosage radiation over one or a couple of days,
allowing for the radiation treatment to last a shorter amount of time instead of several weeks. The
concentration of the radiation can not be too high, because liver cells that are not cancerous are
highly susceptible to damage, and the radiation can not just target cancer cells. Radioembolization,
on the other hand, is when radioactive beads are put into the hepatic artery near tumors, and emit
radiation; this method is more common than SBRT. Radiation therapy s side effects include nausea,
fatigue, and skin changes ( Liver Cancer Survival Rates [...]ВЁ).
Targeted therapy
Targeted therapy is very similar to chemotherapy in that anticancer drugs enter the bloodstream and
destroy cancer cells. Usually, targeted therapy drugs are less severe than chemotherapeutic drugs.
Chemotherapy has not shown to be effective in cases of HCC, so drugs used for targeted therapy
have become a focal point of

Essay on Financial Crisis of 2008 Analysis
In 2008, the US experienced the traumatic chaos of a financial downturn, whose effects rippled
throughout Europe and Asia. Many economists consider it the worst crisis since the Great
Depression, and its alarming results are still seen today, a long six years later. Truly, the recession
s daunting size and formidable wake have left no one untouched and can only beg the question:
could it have been prevented? The causes are manifold, but can be found substantially rooted in
illogical investments and greedy schemes. Before any of the risky moneymaking endeavors,
investors traditionally would have gone to the US Federal Reserve to buy treasury bills, a safe and

The banks then created a new idea linking investors to homeowners through mortgages. Ordinarily,
a mortgage broker would connect a house buying family to a mortgage lender, who would then
supply them with a mortgage. In this system, everyone is happy the mortgage broker earns a
handsome commission, the mortgage lender earns a new mortgage, and the family is now a
homeowner in a market of increasing housing prices.
In the new system, an investment banker buys the mortgage from the lender, borrowing millions of
dollars to buy thousands of mortgages, and every month he gets payments from homeowners for
each of the mortgages. The banker then consolidates all the mortgages and splits the final product
into three sections: safe, okay, and risky mortgages, which make up a collateralized debt obligation
(CDO). As homeowners pay their mortgages, money flows into each of the sections, with the safe
filling first and the risky filling last, contributing to their respective names. Credit agencies stamp
the top two safer mortgages with a triple A or triple B rating, which are then be sold to investors
who want a safe mortgage, while the risky slice is sold to hedge funds who want a risky
investment. The bankers make millions, pay back their loans, and investors also make a worthwhile
investment. So pleased are the investors, however, that they want more. Unfortunately, back at the
beginning of the cycle, the mortgage broker can no longer find qualified mortgagers

Metamorphosis Analysis
Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis is about the dehumanization of a man named Gregor, when he
wastes his life monotonously repeating the same task every day to support his uncaring family. The
lack of purpose in his life is an example of absurdist fiction, a genre of fictional narrative that uses
satire and irrationality to explore the human experience of meaninglessness. Furthermore, The
Metamorphosisuses aspects of magical realism, such as transformation of common, distortion of
time and loss of identity, featured in other magical realism works such as Axolotl and The

His dad was an abusive father and businessman, Kafka s siblings represented Gregor s sister and
his mother was the only who cared and supported him. Satire and the irrationality of life are key
aspects of The Metamorphosis and are what makes it absurdist fiction.
Kafka utilizes distortion of time, an element of magical realism in The Metamorphosis to show
how Gregor is losing touch with humanity, similar to how Julio Cortazar uses it in Axolotl .
Distortion of time shows the reader that the way Gregor lives in his world is different from the
way we live ours, Magical realism...tells its stories from the perspective of people who live in our
world and experience a different reality from the one we call objective (Rogers 1). Time is absent
in The Metamorphosis , Often he just lay there the long nights without sleeping at all, scrabbling
for hours on the leather. (112) this is significant because it shows how Gregor after turning into an
insect, experiences reality differently. Before turning into an insect, Gregor s only purpose in life
was to support his family and did not need to keep track on time. After his transformation, because
he could not support his family anymore, he lost his purpose in life; without being able to use his
time to support his family, he could only sit around and rot. Kafka adjusts the flow of time to show
the reader the perspective of a man with no purpose. Axolotl is similar in this fashion, being in the

With the steady decrease in the click through rates over the last few years, many businesses have
started to totally realize the lack of effectiveness of banner advertising for increasing sales.
Increased visibility might still a benefit of the various banner ads, but small to medium sized
business that are looking for the best results will be less attracted to invest in such channels that don

Native ads are constantly increasing in popularity. The ability of these ads to be integrated into
another website or platform takes away the normal perceptions of advertisement. People s attitudes
towards advertising and their belief in advertising are also dwindling. The use of native

The dramatic escalation of violence committed by and against people is shocking (Eron et al.,

crimes like rape and assault had been decreased up to 4.2 percent each and crime rates of robbery

but still the violenceamong the youth has increased sharply.

Such cues can have very strong affects, increasing aggression among people who are in a neutral
mood as well as among those who have been angered by provocation.
Is Violence Learned?
Violent behavior is strongly affected by learning. Rewards obtained by aggression today increase
its use tomorrow. Such rewards come in two flavors:
Positive Reinforcement: when desired outcome are obtained
Negative Reinforcement: when undesirable outcomes are prevented or stopped
Based on this approach Albert Bandura presented psychological social learning theory. It
emphasizes that we learn from the example of others as well as from direct experience with
rewards and punishments. Models influence the prosocial, helpful behavior. They also affect
antisocial, aggressive behavior. Research has amply demonstrated that a wide range of aggressive
models can elicit a wide range of aggressive imitation.
The impact of adult R rated, sexually violent material on sexually related attitudes and beliefs was
investigated in a field study that arranged for 115 college students to attend movies at campus
theatres (Malamuth and Check, 1981). Half of these students saw the commercially successful
movies Swept away and The Gateway, both of which depict women who become sexually aroused
by a sexual assault and romantically attracted to their assailant. The other half watched feature

There is a sound inserted when the viewer is exposed to Lola Lola as a woman opens up the

the curtain at the cabaret performances, when Lola Lola steps on stage. The poster on the
storefront window is also displayed from the inside out. Those who view the poster can only
visually see it. They cannot touch it nor grab the poster. They can only simply admire it from the
outside. This is representative of Lola Lola and her performances, where the spectators are only

Essay about The 1994 Baseball Strike
The 1994 Baseball Strike On August 12, 1994 professional baseball players went on strike for the
eighth time in the sports history. Since 1972, negotiations between the union and owners over
contract terms has led to major economic problems and the absence of a World Series in 1994. All
issues were open for debate due to the expiration of the last contract. Until 1968, no collective
bargaining agreement had ever been reached between the owners and the players (Dolan 11).
Collective bargaining is the process by which union representatives for employees in a bargaining
unit negotiate employment conditions for the entire bargaining unit (Atlantic Unbound). Instead,
the players were at the mercy of each owner who possessed the... Show more content on

Two major issues led directly to the interruption and eventually the cancellation of the entire
season. After a 28 0 vote among the owners, they agreed to share revenue on the condition they
could get the players to accept a salary cap. The issue of revenue sharing was directly linked to
the salary cap. By taking this action, the owners signaled they had come to realize the problem
of disparity between big market teams (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago) and small market
teams (Seattle, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee). The problem, however, was that because the owners
linked their revenue sharing with a salary cap, the players felt they were being asked to solve the
owners financial disparity problem. There is a noticeable difference in team payrolls, as
displayed in 1993, when the the payroll of the Toronto Blue Jays was $48.4 million, compared
with San Diego Padres payroll of only $10.6 million (Layden 17). Therefore, the idea of revenue
sharing, wherein big market teams would transfer monies to the small market teams, was a good
one, but it caused disputes among the owners as to how the formula would be worked out. Not all
of the small market teams were in bad shape financially. In fact, some that had built or were
building new stadiums such as Baltimore, Cleveland, and Texas were doing quite well. It was not
until June 14, 1994, that the owners finally presented their collective bargaining proposal, 18

The Importance of Documenting Patient Status and Care
Documentation of patient status and care is important for a variety of reasons. First, it allows
health care professionals to plan and evaluate treatment. Health care records are also used as a
communication tool by multidisciplinary teams. Documentation is also used as evidence in legal
matters, and for reimbursements. Health care agenizes also use electronic health recorddata to study
and improve future care. Because there are so many things that health records are used for there are
important things you should be sure to include. When documenting the most crucial parts is
documenting interventions and the patients reactions to chosen interventions. If there are any
significant events or changes in the patient or the plan it must be documented. Always be sure to
documentif and when informed consent for procedures and actions is needed. If the patient refuses
treatment or leaves against medical advice be sure to document. Medications are always
documented along with any occurrences such as medication errors or falls. Most importantly
always include the date and time on all of the notes. With all this information that should be
included in documentation it is helpful to sort it into subjective and objective data. Objective data
is going to be something that is gathered through physical assessment or from lab and diagnostic
tests. Most objective data can be measured such as vital signs. Subjective data is information given
to the nurse by the patient or a family

Homosexual Lifestyle Is Extremely Harmful
Homosexual lifestyle is extremely harmful
A question many people have is, what harm is it to allow same sex couples the same benefits
married heterosexual couples have? Or what harm is there in allowing gays to fill authoritative
positions in society who act as role models for our children?
The answer is that it is extremely harmful to our children and society as a whole. If our children
have role models who are gay, they will think being gay is something that is acceptable by society.
It has become a trend to call it an alternative lifestyle or one s sexual orientation. Others refer to it
as a gay lifestyle, according to an article by Farjm Majd, The Homosexual Relationship.

I guess, but it s what we have to work with, and I think the best direction is forward: tolerance,
acceptance, diversity of opinion and of belief, and the courage to accord justice to all people,

Policy versus practice:
Understanding the relationship between human resource management and organizational outcomes
is one of the long standing goals of macro human resources management research. Kaifeng Jiang et

With rapid change in the economic environment managers and scholars have been motivated to
seek competitive advantages through new sources. The role of a skilled, motivated and flexible
workforce has become more prominent than traditional attributes such as technology, economies of
scale or natural resources. This is illustrated in the growth of Human Resource Management (HRM)

Conversely Jessica Miller from the SHRM Blog suggests that the effectiveness of parental strategic
management is curtailed by its design limitations. The alignment of the policy or practice defines
how a convention fits within a workplace structure, therefore ineffective strategy is usually
preceded by poor structural fit rather than poor implementation. Miller infers that both good and
bad parenting will have reciprocal impacts on a workforce . Academic studies support these
findings, Huselid (1997) performed a cluster analysis of four firms with different HR strategies. The
weak clusters were characterised by poorly planned human capital goals that were irrelevant to the
workplace. The high performance clusters reflected smart design supported with effective
communication and above average levels of management support. The correlation of alignment and
effectiveness of HR strategy is consistent with the prior work of Gehart Milkovich (1992) that poor
design is the underlying trait for 75% of failed SHRM policies. Human capital measurement is an
elusive concept (Becker, 2002) and therefore empirical analysis has inherent inaccuracies. However
both the anecdotal and empirical findings both suggest parental strategic management has an
immediate impact on the workforce. They also cohesively support the concept that design, rather

Why Is Tailgating Bad
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, rear end collisions/tailgating

while driving and needs to be eliminated. Tailgating although is not the only thing I don t like

The first thing that is bad about this is that the insecurity of the driver who is being tailgated.
Driving while being tailgated might result in a driver swerving or doing something that could
result in something they don t want to do. The thought of being tailgated may result in some
things, one thing could be speeding because their mind might tell them that they are going under
the speed limit or not fast enough. Next, the increase of an accident goes up a major percentage
if someone is tailgating. There was a stat done by the Driving Association in California and they
tested the result in tailgating when it occurs and doesn t occur. The stat showed that if someone
would start to tailgate the chance of an accident would go up a whole 65% which is a major
increase. Lastly, the tailgator has a split second to respond if the driver in front of them has to
rapidly stop because of some reason. On a busy road, there are many things that could cause a
sudden stop like a ball rolling into a road or a child running into the road to get that ball, and the
time for the tailgator to respond is almost impossible to prevent a crash. Not even a sudden stop
can cause a crash but just a normal stop when the tailgator doesn t have full attention on driving.
Yes, it is evident that tailgating is bad, and we need to do everything we can to completely eliminate

Gregory And Papacy Essay
When one thinks about the Pope today, there is an image of an elderly man in robes who kisses
babies, makes broad statements about the policies or beliefs of the church, and travels around the
world meeting with the leaders of the world and the church. If one confers with Merriam Webster,
the word popeis defined as the head of the Roman Catholic Church, a definition that falls in line
with the thoughts of many, perhaps even most, people today. For those who are familiar with the
history of western civilization, the papacy is a newer development. The papacy and the Christian
church are tightly aligned with the Roman Empire, but the Empire underwent a variety of changes
and no longer exists, and yet, the Roman Catholic Church and its head are still intact. If the papacy

It was Pope Gregory I, who never sought the papacy, that brought reform and scholarship to the
position. , Gregory held the papacy from 590 until 604. Born into an aristocratic family, Gregory
was well educated. He gave up the life of relative prominence and pursued monasticism. During

Pelagius later required the help of Gregory and his monks, during a time of rampant flooding and

While unwanted, Gregory continued the city reformation projects that he began under Pelagius

Poetry By Freidoon Tavallali
Soon a generation of young poets began various experiments, which led to the creation of
modern poetry. Some regarded themselves as the followers of Nima Youshij, but many, though
inspired by his innovations tried to find an independent path. Fereidoon Tavallali, for instance,
remained very restrained in his innovations, limiting them to a small variation of form. He
usually divided his poems into verses of four hemistiches, with the second and fourth hemistich
of each verse having the same rhymes. In his poetical outlook, Tavallali was deeply influenced
by the lyric poets of the past. In fact most of his poems are either expansions of the themes in
single couplets of classical ghazals, or a whole ghazal with a new rhyming pattern. Some of his
greatest poems are those written in a descriptive, in some cases a narrative form, recounting his
own moods and feelings, or of his beloved s behavior.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the word structure of his poems, he is greatly influenced by Nezami Ganjavi, using many new
compound words, nominal and adjectival phrases for expressing the same things usually expressed
in ordinary grammatical sentences. This makes his poems sound pompous, confusing the lucidity
of his thoughts. Perhaps Tavallali did not have much to offer in terms of modernism in the true
poetical values. Almost nothing new can be found in his poems that suggests a discovery, a
revelation in poetical vision. His cries of the joy and sorrow of love, his sentimental illustrations of
nature, and his pretentious pessimism, stripped of linguistic ornaments, would be reduced to the

Smoking During Pregnancy can at least be Linked to...
Many would argue that childbirth is a beautiful and miraculous event, however the process of the
pregnancy is a very fragile time in the mother s life. During this time most everyone would agree
that the mother should attempt to do everything that is possible to take care of her body. There
are some habits, however, that an extremely difficult to break, even during a pregnancy. The
practice of smoking tobacco is one of those habits. Many doctors would argue that smoking is

How to Change an Automotive Air-Conditioning Evaporator
How to Change an automotive air conditioning evaporator.
There are four parts to replacing the evaporator. The first part is to prepare the air conditioning
system for removal of the evaporator, the second part is the removal of the evaporator, the third
part is the reinstallation of the evaporator, and the fourth part is the proper testing to verify that the
repair was successful.
First we ll cover the preparation of the a/c system for the removal of the evaporator. The first step
is to identify the type of refrigerant in the system using a refrigerant Id machine. The second step
is to recover the refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine, be sure to use the correct

What Was The Civil Rights Movement In The 1960 s
The 1960 s in the United States of America
The 1960s was a tumultuous time in politics, music, and pop culture. Sometimes it was called the
decade of discontent because there were riots and the Vietnam War was going on during this period.
The 60s were also an important time for the civil rights movement. Nicknamed the Rights
Revolution , many acts were passed in congress because of marches, riots, sit ins, and more. When
young Americans began to disagree with the older generation, their dissatisfaction came out through
the music they made. They also changed their culture by having longer hair, dressing differently,
and trying to stand out and speak their beliefs.

So many different iconic songs and artists came from this era, including Bob Dylan, Aretha
Franklin, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and so many more (Pitchfork). Some
popular music genres included British invasion, rock, motown, and R B. Although rock entered
the music industry in the 50s, it thrived in the 60s. There also started to be many different
subgenres of rock including surf rock (The Beach Boys), hard rock (The Rolling Stones), folk
rock/protest music (Simon and Garfunkel), and many others. Because of all of these popular
artists and groups, music festivals boomed. People went to all different kinds of festivals to see

live in. Gun Control has obviously gone out of control in the recent years. Look around, they are
everywhere. Reducing the rate of Crime in the United States would make the country a better place

We may not see this group but the mafia was big back in the day. The mafia was the leading
group in criminal activity in the 1960 s(Darity). The mafia was a group that would make tons
and tons of money off of drugs, robberies and murders. They would sometimes pay off cops to
look the other way and if they didn t get what they wanted they would use their firearms. With
stronger and more enforced laws, many lives could have been saved. The mafia isn t the only
group with guns being used. Gangs are also using guns on an everyday basis. The gangs on the
streets are just like the mafia. They sell drugs, rob people/stores and murder. Not all gangs are on
the streets, some are underground. The point is without guns on the streets, neighborhoods and
cities will be a safer place to live. A big controversy in congress is passing a law to Tax
ammunition/bullets to a gun. This will not just help the country from crime, it will help the
economy. Today almost 65% of people own a gun and 50% have live ammunition to that gun
(Domenech). Taxing every bullet to every gun in the entire country will generate millions of
dollars. Another idea is to have gun collection days and ammunition collection days. Obviously the
more guns you bring in, the more money the government will give to you. If none of these ideas
work, congress can at least limit the ammunition to a gun in a house. The thought of having a gun

Devil In The White City Analysis
(P) The debates are prevalent of the evil that largely takes responsible for the events occuring in
the novel Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. (CE) Erik Larson writes the novel in very
simplistic terms (DE) She walked upstairs. The day was hot. Flies rested on the wind sill. Outside
yet another train rumbled through the intersection (Larson 37). (FA) The more simplistic the
writing, despite the connotative meaning, allows for the further exploration of a deeper theme.
Without the distraction of unnecessary verbiage, the author is able to convict the theme in a shorter
and more precise way. Beyond the general use of simplistic writing technique, Larson defers back to
the simple sentence format when generating a sense of hastiness

UNICEF Challenges
Introduction
Alfred Nobel once said, If you could only understand that we can help a human being without any
ulterior motive. Mr Nobels words echos a sentiment of the the Declaration of the Rights of the
Child or by another name, the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of children. It was adopted by the
United Nations in 1959. This worthy goal to protect children must be carried by people that can
fulfill that purpose and reach into the world, where many need help. UNICEF is that program.
(UNCF) UNICEF or United Nations Internationals Children Emergency Fund has a duty to help
make the world a better place. It is vital to understand what UNICEF is, its origins, the type of
problems they face and how they help. It is also essential to look at challenges they have and how
they can improve as an organization.
History of UNICEF UNICEF had its origins in 1946. It was 3 men who played an essential role,
Former President Herbert Hoover, Maurice Pate, an American business man, later the first executive
director of UNICEF. Ludwik Rajchman, an advocate for global health.
By 1947, Pate set up an office in D.C. He assembled a team and built networks in Europe and
recruited staff from the League of Nations. It took only 8 months to get approval for UNICEF to
support programs for Albania,Austria, China, Finland and a few others . (Jolly, 12)
Its first program focused on establishing feeding programs and provided 4.5 million children a
daily meal in 30,000 locations in 12 countries. It

America s Superpower
When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the United States became the world s sole
superpower (Weiner). It is vital for The United states to act its part as the world superpower and
continue to help govern and protect developing and recovering countries. As the world s only
superpower we are given the opportunity to either stand by and watch as millions of people die
from acts of terror and corruption, or use our immense political, economical, and military power

Inaction is more dangerous and can cause a potentially riskier and costlier than smart, limited
intervention. Syria may seem far away, but every passing day, every calamitous, explosive, hate
infused day, makes it more America s and the world s problem (Ghitis). Everyday more and
more people are being displaced out of their homes and land because of war and terrorist acts
posed by ISIS and the corrupt governments like Syria. These injustices imposed by these groups
spread and will eventually effect of the world in action is not taken now. As seen by (Ghitis)
again when he shows Millions of Syrians have fled their homes, straining resources and
occasionally raining fire into Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and even Israel. These millions of
displaced refugees hurt surrounding countries and have forced them to even put up border lines
and gates preventing these refugees from flooding their countries. This inflicts great stress and
problems to these countries. Countries like Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq, because they are
now having to increase security spending and take care of millions of homeless people who are
starving and dying of injuries or disease that they just do not have the supplies to help. At this
point, this is where the US needs to be brought in, if not sooner. The US has the capabilities to
prevent all of these problems, but

Attending An Informational Protest Here At Siena College
For this event paper, I decided to attend an informational protest here at Siena College. To bring
awareness to domestic violence in our society, Siena College hosted the One Billion Rising
Revolution in the Sarazen Student Union on February 12th, 2016. One Billion Rising is one of the
biggest revolutions intended to end violenceagainst women in the world. Many people around the
world come together to express their opinions, dance, and rise up against domestic violence. At this
event many different dance teams at Siena College were asked to send ten of their dancers to this
event to perform. Out of twenty girls on the team, I volunteered to learn a short dance and
perform it for a good cause. The One Billion Rising Revolution connects to the theme Diversity,
and the article Why Does Diversity Matter at College Anyway? by Jeremy S. Hyman and Lynn F.
Jacobs because they prove that diversity is important when bringing awareness to a certain cause,
because it helps promote worldliness to understand the multiple perspectives and experiences of
different kinds of people
I chose to go to this event because I was interested in learning about domestic violence. This is a
topic I ve learned a little about in high school, but I ve never had the opportunity to learn about it
first hand from an professional speaker. At this event, Siena invited a speaker to come and talk
about the issue of domestic violence against women around the world. After her thirty minute
presentation,

Most of the people around the world are right handed. There are four type of handedness. In the play, there are many different contrasting characters, including the main character Jack, and Algernon, who we find is his brother later in the play. Algernon is a very unserious person, who is also quite irresponsible, and just wants things in life to be fun. We see this a few times throughout the play. The Pros AndCons Of Radiation Therapy Radiation therapy Radiation therapy is when radiation is directed at rapidly growing cancer cells, damaging DNA and chromosomes to kill cells (Rhine 17). It can be done with external beam radiation therapy, or by radioembolization. External beam radiation therapy is used to shrink liver tumors, but is used less frequently than tumor ablation and embolization. The treatment for radiation therapy lasts for only a few minutes, however, they are given for several weeks. Stereotactic body radiation therapy, or SBRT, uses a very focus beam of high dosage radiation over one or a couple of days, allowing for the radiation treatment to last a shorter amount of time instead of several weeks. The concentration of the radiation can not be too high, because liver cells that are not cancerous are highly susceptible to damage, and the radiation can not just target cancer cells. Radioembolization, on the other hand, is when radioactive beads are put into the hepatic artery near tumors, and emit radiation; this method is more common than SBRT. Radiation therapy s side effects include nausea, fatigue, and skin changes ( Liver Cancer Survival Rates [...]ВЁ). Targeted therapy Targeted therapy is very similar to chemotherapy in that anticancer drugs enter the bloodstream and destroy cancer cells. Usually, targeted therapy drugs are less severe than chemotherapeutic drugs. Essay on FinancialCrisis of 2008 Analysis In 2008, the US experienced the traumatic chaos of a financial downturn, whose effects rippled throughout Europe and Asia. Many economists consider it the worst crisis since the Great Depression, and its alarming results are still seen today, a long six years later. Truly, the recession s daunting size and formidable wake have left no one untouched and can only beg the question: could it have been prevented? The causes are manifold, but can be found substantially rooted in illogical investments and greedy schemes. In the new system, an investment banker buys the mortgage from the lender, borrowing millions of dollars to buy thousands of mortgages, and every month he gets payments from homeowners for each of the mortgages. The banker then consolidates all the mortgages and splits the final product into three sections: safe, okay, and risky mortgages, which make up a collateralized debt obligation (CDO). As homeowners pay their mortgages, money flows into each of the sections, with the safe filling first and the risky filling last, contributing to their respective names. Credit agencies stamp the top two safer mortgages with a triple A or triple B rating, which are then be sold to investors who want a safe mortgage, while the risky slice is sold to hedge funds who want a risky investment. Furthermore, The Metamorphosisuses aspects of magical realism, such as transformation of common, distortion of time and loss of identity, featured in other magical realism works such as Axolotl and The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World . Kafka utilizes distortion of time, an element of magical realism in The Metamorphosis to show how Gregor is losing touch with humanity, similar to how Julio Cortazar uses it in Axolotl . Distortion of time shows the reader that the way Gregor lives in his world is different from the way we live ours, Magical realism...tells its stories from the perspective of people who live in our world and experience a different reality from the one we call objective (Rogers 1). Time is absent in The Metamorphosis , Often he just lay there the long nights without sleeping at all, scrabbling for hours on the leather. After his transformation, because he could not support his family anymore, he lost his purpose in life; without being able to use his time to support his family, he could only sit around and rot. Google s DisplayAdvertising Division Executive Summary This report provides a Strategic Brief focusing on Yahoo! s display advertising division. The report also shows positive sign for future growth of Yahoo, though it has given rise to a lot of internal rivalry between the industry s big players to mention few are such as Google, Microsoft and Facebook, as all of them offer products perceived by the consumers as homogeneous. Price competition has augmented, and has effectively lowered the Yahoo s margins. Furthermore, the threat of low cost alternatives such as classified advertisement sites and social media sites have increased, even though few of them have the range of products as Yahoo!, they however retain a high number of users, social media in particular. With the steady decrease in the click through rates over the last few years, many businesses have started to totally realize the lack of effectiveness of banner advertising for increasing sales. Increased visibility might still a benefit of the various banner ads, but small to medium sized business that are looking for the best results will be less attracted to invest in such channels that don t offer a calculable return on investment. (Stevens, 2014) Native ads are constantly increasing in popularity. The ability of these ads to be integrated into another website or platform takes away the normal perceptions of advertisement. People s attitudes towards advertising and their belief in advertising are also dwindling. The use of native advertising is helpful in reducing this attitude of people towards advertising. Examples of native advertising are sponsored ads on Facebook, sponsored ads on blogs, integrated ads, twitter, etc. (Stevens, 2014) 3) Mobile Optimization Mobile advertising is increasingly becoming the next big thing in internet advertising. This is due to the increasing number of people spending more and more time on the internet by the use of their phones. Hence the necessity to optimize for phones is inevitable. Essay on Escalationof Violence The dramatic escalation of violence committed by and against people is shocking (Eron et al., 1994). Although according to Federal Bureau of Investigation, the murder rate in the year 2009 dropped almost 7.2 percent in comparison of the murder rate of 2008. Similarly crime rate of crimes like rape and assault had been decreased up to 4.2 percent each and crime rates of robbery and burglary fell by 1.7 percent and 4.2 percent respectively (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2009) but still the violenceamong the youth has increased sharply. There is no simple explanation for the presence of aggression, nor is there any obvious, easy way to reduce it. The fundamental basis of violence is absolutely clear: the human capacity for aggression. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such cues can have very strong affects, increasing aggression among people who are in a neutral mood as well as among those who have been angered by provocation. Is Violence Learned? Violent behavior is strongly affected by learning. Rewards obtained by aggression today increase its use tomorrow. Such rewards come in two flavors: Positive Reinforcement: when desired outcome are obtained Negative Reinforcement: when undesirable outcomes are prevented or stopped Based on this approach Albert Bandura presented psychological social learning theory. It emphasizes that we learn from the example of others as well as from direct experience with rewards and punishments. Models influence the prosocial, helpful behavior. They also affect antisocial, aggressive behavior. Research has amply demonstrated that a wide range of aggressive models can elicit a wide range of aggressive imitation. The impact of adult R rated, sexually violent material on sexually related attitudes and beliefs was investigated in a field study that arranged for 115 college students to attend movies at campus theatres (Malamuth and Check, 1981). Neil Degrasse Tysons Life Neil deGrasse Tyson A young boy wanders through the Hayden Planetarium, gazing at every planet model and space device he can spot. Little did the nine year old know his future had been decided right then and there. He had no idea he would grow into one of the biggest contemporary scientists of our day. This young boy was Neil deGrasse Tyson. He later said, about this event, So strong was that imprint that I m certain that I had no choice in the matter, that in fact, the universe called me. In 1958 Manhattan gave birth to this remarkable man. He was raised in a middle class family and attended The Bronx High School of Science, where he was editor in chief of the Physical Science Journal and captain of the wrestling team. He also attended astronomy classes at the Planetarium, where he was taught by Dr. Mark Chartrand III, who he credited to have an enthusiastic teaching style mixed with humor that inspired him to look at the universe in a new light. Another idol of his he met at the age of seventeen Carl Sagan. The two spent one day together, and Tyson was deeply moved. He later wrote, I already knew I wanted to become a scientist. But that afternoon, I learned from Carl the kind of person I wanted to become. Since a very young age, I ve wanted to be a scientist, but not just a scientist. I want to be an astrophysicist just like Tyson. In many ways I aspire to be like him. Carl Sagan was his inspiration, and he is mine. Straight out of high school, Tyson went to ... Lola Lola Meaning Froma respected professor to a cabaret clown, this film follows a cabaret dancer, Lola Lola, who has total control over her spectators. The film does an excellent job of showing us what to expect from the plot early on at the beginning of the film. Through the opening scene one can fully interpret the filmas a whole through the various clues left for the viewer. The very first scene focuses on the tops of buildings and houses where some of theses structures are distorted in the expressionist way. The building in the very back appears to be a church or synagogue or some sort. They can only simply admire it from the outside. This is representative of Lola Lola and her performances, where the spectators are only there to see. There is no physical interaction with any of the girls in the cabaret performances, which is represented through how the poster is displayed only for the eye. The poster is also an unrealistic image of Lola Lola, showing how she artificially is. The poster of Lola Lola is looking up at her like if she was a goddess. Her long legs make up more than half of the poster showing that she is up on some pedestal from everyone else. There are some clouds behind her to show that being with her or around her is like being up in heaven. There are also what appear to be two little cupids tugging at her from opposite ends. They are representative of the amounts of men that want her and try to do the most for her. They are also shown as childlike to depict the behaviors the men have when they are with her. As if they were to lose themselves, to her just like Dr. Rath did. He completely forgot who he was and how he comported himself in society. He lived for her and even became part of her show to be with her. The film shows how people laughed at him for completely losing it over a woman, something that for time has been inferior to men. Even in present day, women are still given the short end of everything and seen as inferior. The fact that the professor lost it all over a women represent those men who ... Essay about The1994 Baseball Strike The 1994 Baseball Strike On August 12, 1994 professional baseball players went on strike for the eighth time in the sports history. Since 1972, negotiations between the union and owners over contract terms has led to major economic problems and the absence of a World Series in 1994. All issues were open for debate due to the expiration of the last contract. Until 1968, no collective bargaining agreement had ever been reached between the owners and the players (Dolan 11). Collective bargaining is the process by which union representatives for employees in a bargaining unit negotiate employment conditions for the entire bargaining unit (Atlantic Unbound). Two major issues led directly to the interruption and eventually the cancellation of the entire season. After a 28 0 vote among the owners, they agreed to share revenue on the condition they could get the players to accept a salary cap. The issue of revenue sharing was directly linked to the salary cap. By taking this action, the owners signaled they had come to realize the problem of disparity between big market teams (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago) and small market teams (Seattle, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee). The problem, however, was that because the owners linked their revenue sharing with a salary cap, the players felt they were being asked to solve the owners financial disparity problem. There is a noticeable difference in team payrolls, as displayed in 1993, when the the payroll of the Toronto Blue Jays was $48.4 million, compared with San Diego Padres payroll of only $10.6 million (Layden 17). Therefore, the idea of revenue sharing, wherein big market teams would transfer monies to the small market teams, was a good one, but it caused disputes among the owners as to how the formula would be worked out. Not all of the small market teams were in bad shape financially. In fact, some that had built or were building new stadiums such as Baltimore, Cleveland, and Texas were doing quite well. The Importance ofDocumenting Patient Status and Care Documentation of patient status and care is important for a variety of reasons. First, it allows health care professionals to plan and evaluate treatment. Health care records are also used as a communication tool by multidisciplinary teams. Documentation is also used as evidence in legal matters, and for reimbursements. Health care agenizes also use electronic health recorddata to study and improve future care. Because there are so many things that health records are used for there are important things you should be sure to include. When documenting the most crucial parts is documenting interventions and the patients reactions to chosen interventions. If there are any significant events or changes in the patient or the plan it must be documented. Always be sure to documentif and when informed consent for procedures and actions is needed. If the patient refuses treatment or leaves against medical advice be sure to document. Medications are always documented along with any occurrences such as medication errors or falls. Most importantly always include the date and time on all of the notes. With all this information that should be included in documentation it is helpful to sort it into subjective and objective data. Objective data is going to be something that is gathered through physical assessment or from lab and diagnostic tests. Most objective data can be measured such as vital signs. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conversely Jessica Miller from the SHRM Blog suggests that the effectiveness of parental strategic management is curtailed by its design limitations. The alignment of the policy or practice defines how a convention fits within a workplace structure, therefore ineffective strategy is usually preceded by poor structural fit rather than poor implementation. Miller infers that both good and bad parenting will have reciprocal impacts on a workforce . Academic studies support these findings, Huselid (1997) performed a cluster analysis of four firms with different HR strategies. The weak clusters were characterised by poorly planned human capital goals that were irrelevant to the workplace. The high performance clusters reflected smart design supported with effective communication and above average levels of management support. The correlation of alignment and effectiveness of HR strategy is consistent with the prior work of Gehart Milkovich (1992) that poor design is the underlying trait for 75% of failed SHRM policies. Human capital measurement is an elusive concept (Becker, 2002) and therefore empirical analysis has inherent inaccuracies. However both the anecdotal and empirical findings both suggest parental strategic management has an immediate impact on the workforce. Poetry By FreidoonTavallali Soon a generation of young poets began various experiments, which led to the creation of modern poetry. Some regarded themselves as the followers of Nima Youshij, but many, though inspired by his innovations tried to find an independent path. Fereidoon Tavallali, for instance, remained very restrained in his innovations, limiting them to a small variation of form. He usually divided his poems into verses of four hemistiches, with the second and fourth hemistich of each verse having the same rhymes. In his poetical outlook, Tavallali was deeply influenced by the lyric poets of the past. In fact most of his poems are either expansions of the themes in single couplets of classical ghazals, or a whole ghazal with a new rhyming pattern. Some of his greatest poems are those written in a descriptive, in some cases a narrative form, recounting his own moods and feelings, or of his beloved s behavior.... Smoking During Pregnancycan at least be Linked to... Many would argue that childbirth is a beautiful and miraculous event, however the process of the pregnancy is a very fragile time in the mother s life. During this time most everyone would agree that the mother should attempt to do everything that is possible to take care of her body. There are some habits, however, that an extremely difficult to break, even during a pregnancy. The practice of smoking tobacco is one of those habits. Most likely in situations you will not be able to fully convince people to change their opinions, but by standing up for the minority you are able to make the feel like they are not ... How to Changean Automotive Air-Conditioning Evaporator How to Change an automotive air conditioning evaporator. There are four parts to replacing the evaporator. The first part is to prepare the air conditioning system for removal of the evaporator, the second part is the removal of the evaporator, the third part is the reinstallation of the evaporator, and the fourth part is the proper testing to verify that the repair was successful. First we ll cover the preparation of the a/c system for the removal of the evaporator. The first step is to identify the type of refrigerant in the system using a refrigerant Id machine. The second step is to recover the refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine, be sure to use the correct machine and fittings for the type of refrigerant in the system, usually R 12 or R 134a. The third step would only apply if the heater hose(s) have to be removed to gain access and that is to drain the coolant from the radiator into a clean container. The fourth, and final, step is to remove any covers, braces, brackets, wiring harnesses, or heat shields that would restrict access to the evaporator. Now we ll cover the removal of the evaporator. The first step is to remove the liquid line from the metering device, either thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) or fixed orifice tube (FOT). If there is an O ring, be sure to remove and discard it. The second step is to remove the suction line from the evaporator (on systems with a TXV) or accumulator (on systems with an FOT). Again if there is an O ring, be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Was TheCivil Rights Movement In The 1960 s The 1960 s in the United States of America The 1960s was a tumultuous time in politics, music, and pop culture. Sometimes it was called the decade of discontent because there were riots and the Vietnam War was going on during this period. The 60s were also an important time for the civil rights movement. Nicknamed the Rights Revolution , many acts were passed in congress because of marches, riots, sit ins, and more. When young Americans began to disagree with the older generation, their dissatisfaction came out through the music they made. They also changed their culture by having longer hair, dressing differently, and trying to stand out and speak their beliefs. The 60s started out with John F. Kennedy becoming president, the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So many different iconic songs and artists came from this era, including Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and so many more (Pitchfork). Some popular music genres included British invasion, rock, motown, and R B. Although rock entered the music industry in the 50s, it thrived in the 60s. There also started to be many different subgenres of rock including surf rock (The Beach Boys), hard rock (The Rolling Stones), folk rock/protest music (Simon and Garfunkel), and many others. Because of all of these popular artists and groups, music festivals boomed. People went to all different kinds of festivals to see their favorite artists (Pearson). The biggest song from the decade was a rock indebted dance track called The Twist by Chubby Checker according to Billboard (The Top 20 Billboard Hot 100 Hits of the 1960s). Young adult s music was so different from their parents . Rock was loud and disruptive, just like the young people of that generation that were fighting for civil rights. Their music became their voice for a cultural revolution. During this time, the Beatles music started gaining fame in Britain and then moving to the United States where they changed modern history and music. The Beatles showed the U.S. how style could have the impact of a cultural revelation. They embodied how America was changing drastically. Even Bob Dylan understood their greatness as he once said to his biographer Anthony Scaduto, They were doing things nobody else was doing, But I just kept it to myself that I really dug them. Everybody else thought they were just for the teenyboppers, that they were gonna pass right away. But it was obvious to me that they had staying power. I knew they were pointing the direction that music had to go. . . . It seemed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gun Control inthe United States Gun Control in the United States has gone out of control. The United States should enforce laws to not allow any guns in a house hold in order to reduce violence and crime in the country. Reducing the rate of crime in the United States, controlling big weapons, taxing ammunition, and gun collection can help make this happen. Gun Control can make this country a safer environment to live in. Gun Control has obviously gone out of control in the recent years. Look around, they are everywhere. Reducing the rate of Crime in the United States would make the country a better place to live. In the past and in the present, Mass Shootings have impacted America. Virginia Tech shooting killed 33 teachers and students (Bowman). In 1999, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We may not see this group but the mafia was big back in the day. The mafia was the leading group in criminal activity in the 1960 s(Darity). The mafia was a group that would make tons and tons of money off of drugs, robberies and murders. They would sometimes pay off cops to look the other way and if they didn t get what they wanted they would use their firearms. With stronger and more enforced laws, many lives could have been saved. The mafia isn t the only group with guns being used. Gangs are also using guns on an everyday basis. The gangs on the streets are just like the mafia. They sell drugs, rob people/stores and murder. Not all gangs are on the streets, some are underground. The point is without guns on the streets, neighborhoods and cities will be a safer place to live. A big controversy in congress is passing a law to Tax ammunition/bullets to a gun. This will not just help the country from crime, it will help the economy. Today almost 65% of people own a gun and 50% have live ammunition to that gun (Domenech). Taxing every bullet to every gun in the entire country will generate millions of dollars. Another idea is to have gun collection days and ammunition collection days. Obviously the more guns you bring in, the more money the government will give to you. If none of these ideas work, congress can at least limit the ammunition to a gun in a house. The thought of having a gun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Devil In TheWhite City Analysis (P) The debates are prevalent of the evil that largely takes responsible for the events occuring in the novel Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. (CE) Erik Larson writes the novel in very simplistic terms (DE) She walked upstairs. The day was hot. Flies rested on the wind sill. Outside yet another train rumbled through the intersection (Larson 37). (FA) The more simplistic the writing, despite the connotative meaning, allows for the further exploration of a deeper theme. Without the distraction of unnecessary verbiage, the author is able to convict the theme in a shorter and more precise way. Beyond the general use of simplistic writing technique, Larson defers back to the simple sentence format when generating a sense of hastiness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

UNICEF Challenges Introduction Alfred Nobelonce said, If you could only understand that we can help a human being without any ulterior motive. Mr Nobels words echos a sentiment of the the Declaration of the Rights of the Child or by another name, the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of children. It was adopted by the United Nations in 1959. This worthy goal to protect children must be carried by people that can fulfill that purpose and reach into the world, where many need help. UNICEF is that program. (UNCF) UNICEF or United Nations Internationals Children Emergency Fund has a duty to help make the world a better place. It is vital to understand what UNICEF is, its origins, the type of problems they face and how they help. It is also essential to look at challenges they have and how they can improve as an organization. History of UNICEF UNICEF had its origins in 1946. It was 3 men who played an essential role, Former President Herbert Hoover, Maurice Pate, an American business man, later the first executive director of UNICEF. Ludwik Rajchman, an advocate for global health. By 1947, Pate set up an office in D.C. He assembled a team and built networks in Europe and recruited staff from the League of Nations. It took only 8 months to get approval for UNICEF to support programs for Albania,Austria, China, Finland and a few others . (Jolly, 12) Its first program focused on establishing feeding programs and provided 4.5 million children a daily meal in 30,000 locations in 12 countries. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America s Superpower Whenthe Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the United States became the world s sole superpower (Weiner). It is vital for The United states to act its part as the world superpower and continue to help govern and protect developing and recovering countries. As the world s only superpower we are given the opportunity to either stand by and watch as millions of people die from acts of terror and corruption, or use our immense political, economical, and military power to help save, and better the world and the lives of potentially billions of people. It is important America acts as a whole now more than ever, these following years of action or inaction of the US in the middle eastcan and will affect not only the US but countries around the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inaction is more dangerous and can cause a potentially riskier and costlier than smart, limited intervention. Syria may seem far away, but every passing day, every calamitous, explosive, hate infused day, makes it more America s and the world s problem (Ghitis). Everyday more and more people are being displaced out of their homes and land because of war and terrorist acts posed by ISIS and the corrupt governments like Syria. These injustices imposed by these groups spread and will eventually effect of the world in action is not taken now. As seen by (Ghitis) again when he shows Millions of Syrians have fled their homes, straining resources and occasionally raining fire into Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and even Israel. These millions of displaced refugees hurt surrounding countries and have forced them to even put up border lines and gates preventing these refugees from flooding their countries. This inflicts great stress and problems to these countries. Countries like Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq, because they are now having to increase security spending and take care of millions of homeless people who are starving and dying of injuries or disease that they just do not have the supplies to help. At this point, this is where the US needs to be brought in, if not sooner. The US has the capabilities to prevent all of these problems, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Attending An InformationalProtest Here At Siena College For this event paper, I decided to attend an informational protest here at Siena College. To bring awareness to domestic violence in our society, Siena College hosted the One Billion Rising Revolution in the Sarazen Student Union on February 12th, 2016. One Billion Rising is one of the biggest revolutions intended to end violenceagainst women in the world. Many people around the world come together to express their opinions, dance, and rise up against domestic violence. At this event many different dance teams at Siena College were asked to send ten of their dancers to this event to perform. Out of twenty girls on the team, I volunteered to learn a short dance and perform it for a good cause. The One Billion Rising Revolution connects to the theme Diversity, and the article Why Does Diversity Matter at College Anyway? by Jeremy S. Hyman and Lynn F. Jacobs because they prove that diversity is important when bringing awareness to a certain cause, because it helps promote worldliness to understand the multiple perspectives and experiences of different kinds of people I chose to go to this event because I was interested in learning about domestic violence. This is a topic I ve learned a little about in high school, but I ve never had the opportunity to learn about it first hand from an professional speaker. At this event, Siena invited a speaker to come and talk about the issue of domestic violence against women around the world. After her thirty minute presentation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
