This document defines fitness and health, and discusses the dimensions of fitness. Fitness is defined as the ability to carry out daily activities without fatigue or to meet environmental demands. Health is defined as a state of physical, mental, and social well-being free from disease. A person's overall fitness has two categories - health-related components based on physiology, and skill-related components based on neuromuscular interaction. The health-related components include cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular endurance, strength, flexibility, and body composition. The skill-related components include speed, power, agility, balance, coordination, and reaction time.
