2. Sell Line
My sell line ‘Light of Ramsgate’ appears on my front cover and website to create
consistency between products, I chose to use a more personal sell line ‘your magazine,
your Ramsgate’ for my billboard as I wanted the audience to feel more connected with the
product that is being advertised, this begins to create a brand image and house style
whilst providing an small insight into what the magazine is about.
3. Advertisement
On multiple pages on my website, I have included many images of my magazine, this instantly
advertises the magazine, showing the reader how to purchase it.
The billboard and front cover of my magazine has links to my website, this further reinforces
how all products link together and also directly advertises my magazine, allowing the audience
to instantly decide whether they would or would not like to purchase the product. I also offered
the chance to subscribe to the magazine making it easier to purchase for the reader.
I further advertised my magazine and the website on my billboard. By advertising the fact that is
also available online allows the audience to connect with the magazine in different ways as a
print copy.
4. Masthead
The masthead of my magazine is consistent throughout my front
cover, contents page, editorial page, website and billboard. This is so
my audience is able to establish a clear perspective of the name of my
magazine, resulting in my product having an established brand image.
In each media text I made sure the colour of it was contrasting to the
background to insure the audience could read it properly, and it would
stand out which was my main objective.
5. Website
My website address appears on my front cover, contents, editorial
page and billboard. This allows my audience to establish a link
between all platforms as all are recognized to ‘Ramsgate Life’.
6. Extra...
Font
The main font which I have used throughout this process is a serif style font called ‘Didot’.
This allows my audience to identify my products more and see them as more professional
because it is the hegemonic norm to do so which I have discovered in the existing media
that I have researches.
Colour
I kept the house theme throughout my hole magazine and ancillary tasks of black and
white. I also added hints of grey to fit in the colour scheme and although subtle I addd
more warmer colours to represent the spring issue. This created more links between my
media productions
Although I have had some speculation with my contents page not fitting the them of my
front cover and editorial page, I believe that from the main product and ancillaries my
house style is generally consistent, opting for a subtle use of colour, structure and
organised text used throughout.
7. In conclusion...
Overall, the website is very much inline with the magazine, particularly
due to the change in society following digital versions of the production,
including both a physical copy and the website version.
However, the billboard which I have created is used as an advertisement
to promote the magazine, and is used just as an access route onto the
magazine, whether it be a print copy or digital copy as both are
represented on the advert.
By combining all of my media productions it helps the audience to
connect with the magazine in between issues as we live in a very digital
world. Each of my productions help to promote and advertise each other
which helps build a larger reader base therefore help create a larger
revenue and income.
