2. Process
I had a better idea of what I wanted from this
page than some of the others, as I had already
looked into what images I could possibly feature
on the page, most notably the centrally featured
statue in Hanover. After deciding on a darkened
gold for my background colour, I experimented
with colour correction for a while but was
unable to get a similar shade. Eventually, I
removed the saturation of the image and
decreased the opacity, which created an effect
even better than I had desired. With the
drawing and the actor, I just used colour
correction, as reducing the opacity would cause
the background image to be visible through
them. It took me some time to work up to
correctly-coloured images I was happy with.
3. Process
I wanted a slightly darker and more mysterious theme for this page, and so tried to create a
mist effect I was happy with. After trying to colour correct dark clouds for a while, I returned
to the opacity editing and created a blank grey layer before reducing it, which finished up
with the effect I was happy with. I got my main image before removing the background and
hieroglyphs using a mixture of quick selection and careful use of the eraser tool, before
changing the colouration to make it more overall gold and less vibrant to go with the theme.
4. Process
I also had a fairly solid idea of what I
wanted for this page too, summarised
to an Eagle Standard, the Colosseum, a
picture of the empire and some more
ruins. The Colosseum image took the
most time to individually edit, as I had
to carefully erase any showing sky from
each window. After meddling with the
opacity, position and size of both, I
eventually made it look like the eagle
was perched on the colosseum, which
looked about as well as I could have
wanted. I got images of the empire and
other roman ruins from the internet,
and arranged them at the side similarly
to the layout of the other pages to
keep the overall style consistent.
5. Process
I wanted the background to be a recognizable symbol but had already used the eagle standard, so
decided on a shield. I reduced the vibrance before heavily increasing the red shades and reducing the
opacity. Finding an image of a centurion online, cutting out the background and editing the colour
helped me create. Better looking image that I thought fitted with the colour scheme better. I got a
drawing of an eagle standard, and decided to arrange the images on the bottom of the page to better
suit the fact the image of the Centurion did not have a lower half, which I could conceal through the
bottom of the screen.
6. Process
For this page I went with a colour
scheme that represented the flag
of Ancient Macedonia, which after
lowering the opacity became the
background image was well. I
found the common image from the
Roman Mosaic in Pompeii and
faded it so it wouldn’t be overly
vibrant compared to the rest of the
page. I took images of his empire
and his Phalanx formation and
arranged them on the other side of
the screen and made sure to wrap
the article text so it never came to
close to the images or labels for
them.
7. Process
For this page I took a flat gold layer and found a metal texture, minimalizing the opacity. My
original plan was to have just one shield for the background, but the circular design made it
not take up much of the page, so I produced the idea of several rows of shields, and after
implementing it without it looking too overbearing, I was very happy with the design. I
increased saturation and reds for the mage of the spartan hoplite, before arranging and
labelling the images of the ruins and the 300 soldiers to leave a sizable, neat area for the
article.
