 Recent surveys shown that
children are not fully
protected in family, school and
even community also, and they
face violence, abuses and
exploitations.
 Concerned at this, the Kerala Government has
launched widespread campaign aimed at arresting
the rising prevalence of substance abuse and other
inappropriate social behaviour among students.
And it named as Clean Kerala Safe Kerala.

3.  Clean Campus Safe Campus project was
inaugurated by Hon. Chief Minister, Kerala in
the presence of Hon. Home Minister and Hon.
Education Minister at St. Mary's HSS Pattom,
Thiruvananthapuram on 30.5.2014.

9. Mission/ Objectives
 Effective implementation of the provisions of The Cigarettes
and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003, or COTPA, The Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Protection of Children
from Sexual Offences Act etc.
 Prevent and control socially deviant behaviour including
criminal offences and substance abuse including tobacco,
alcohol and other harmful substances among children and
students.

10.  Facilitate the collaboration of various government
departments like Police, Health, Social Welfare and Education,
various nongovernmental organisations and academic
institutions in the above activities.
 Protect children from physical and sexual abuse – effectively
check and restrict availability of pornographic material to
children and students.
 Ensure traffic safety in the school area and surroundings.

11. Project Implementation
 In the first phase, all aided and unaided schools across Kerala including
CBSE &ICSE schools up to the standards of 12 will be covered.
 This project will subsequently be extended to all the colleges and
Universities in the state in a phased manner.
 There are roughly 14,000 schools in Kerala that cater to around 55
lakh students.

School based initiative by Kerala Police
