Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Classic fm mag task 3
1. The masthead on this article is in a serif font so therefore shows a sophisticated element meaning they are going for more of an higher brow audience. A basic looking masthead with sophistication would not appeal to the reader of this type of magazine. The fact that the f in the font is in a larger font and colour how's a break up of sophistication showing that they are not a all about sophistication all the way through The is a small image next to the cover lines. By having this it shows who the cover line is referring too. By having the extra addition of an image it makes the white background look less bland and also provides the reader with an image to add to what the article will be about. Having more information appeals to the reader. The two sell lines are used to anchor the two main images, by having this it allows the magazine to appeal to more readers as there are more people that are coming onto the classical music genre. By making the sell lines in red background and underneath the masthead shows an area of importance. It will appeal to the reader by attracting them with a large bright colour The main cover line is in a different colour of writing. Along with the supporting main cover line. By doing this they are showing a sense of importance towards the two new choir groups. Also the bright large font will show the reader the importance and will attract them when they see the magazine. These bright colours have an almost innocent and upper class feel. This would appeal to a higher brow audience aged between n20 -50 The barcode is located in the bottom left as it is in most cases, By doing this it allows the main bulk of the article to be noticed but the bar code is in a good place to be seen The header is used almost as a sell line. They are making it so that the magazine appeals to more people by boosting it’s image. By having this at the top of the magazine will make it more visible to the reader when the magazines are stacked. It will be one of the first things the reader sees. There are two parts to the main image, it is showing that they are both important in the magazine. It is unusual in the magazine so therefore is attracting the reader. By having two images shows two importance to the readers. They want to make it clear of the importance to the reader.
2. The date is used on the By-Line . It is simple but traditional in magazines. By sticking to the general feature of most magazines it allows the reader to have a sense of familiarity. The fact that the date is so small allows the reader to see that it is not as significant as the bright colours below showing the article All of the main stories are represented by pictures on the right. It is represented with a white page number over the top. It is unusual to represent the story by an image . However there are small amounts of writing to show what it is of they image allows for a different approach Each story is headed with a red font and the page number is with a red font . By doing this it is showing a consistency with the limited colour pallet . By having the consistency of the magazine it allows the reader to be drawn in more. The fact however they are limited but bright colours makes each story stand out more The heading is small in the article It is clear for the reader to see but is unusually small. It is a different style but keeps the traditional style of the contents. BY continuing to have the log as well as being the same as the masthead the name of the magazine is shown all over therefore it makes the reader struggle to forget the name and for first time readers could turn into regular readers. An offer is used as a footer in the contents. It is unusual to carry the offer on onto the contents however it shows the importance of the offer. Also the fact that it is on a red banner breaks up the white background making the importance stand out towards the reader. The fact that they are offering free CD’s in an older feature., CD’s are heading out of fashion. Therefore again this would appeal to an older audience but of an upper class. The layout is used in a neat way. All images are located on the left and what is in the magazine is shown on the right. The layout is extremely basic however it is used in an effective way as the stereotype of classical music is a high brow audience. Therefore a tidy layout connotes the right image. The fonts are of a limited colour pallet therefore it shows a basic font style. The general contents page is very simplistic. By having the simple qualities on the contents is a good feature in itself as it allows the reader to notice the images and/or the page numbers with the articles. Meaning that they are likely to want to see the page and read the article
3. The by line gives credit to who was involved in the article. By doing this they are allowing the writer credit. However the fact it is in such a small font shows there is a lack of importance so the article should not be taken up by this. The Heading of the article is short and only has two words. By having a short heading it allows the reader to have the mystery of wanting to know what the article is about and read on. The font is in a serif font and is large compared to the font size of the text. Therefore they are sticking to the general theme of the magazine. The stand first contains a persons name in a bold font of serif. This shows who the article is likely to be about providing the reader with a suitable amount of information before they read the article. The rest of the stand first is in a smaller serif font again sticking to the theme of the magazine. Each page is used in the article with many images . They are all connected in a way that portrays what the article is about. By having many images they can relate to different segments of the article. This would give the reader a better sense of what is going on. The images are in black and white therefore the effect adds to what the article is about an older composer. The older looking images would add to atmosphere wanting to be shown in the article The page numbers are located on the bottom left or right of each page. They are based next to the logo of the magazine. By doing this they are keeping to the theme of the magazine and even the general theme of every magazine. A feeling of familiarity with the individuality of the magazine is good for the reader. Captions are used to develop the images. By doing this they are giving the reader more to look into. If the reader is completely sure of what is going on in the images it would make for an easier read. By having captions in a black background and a white font it is clear that the reader can see what is going on and can clearly read the caption. The article itself opens with a drops cap . This is used to draw in the reader. The rest of the article is split into well organised columns. By having an organised text layout this allows the reader to read clearly what is being said. The text is wrapped around the advertisement for what the article is about. By doing this it shows underneath the advert is just as important as the text, A grab quote is used in a different colour of brown at the top of the right page in a larger serif font. By doing this they are showing importance to this and they are breaking the general colour pallet also. Therefore this is a vital quote to the reader.
4. The magazine focuses on consistent features throughout. The main repetition throughout is of the font serif. By doing this they are clearly stating that they are aiming for a mature high brow audience that is stereotypical of the classical genre. They will not have as higher readership of other magazines but they are stating that they want to stick to the readership they have but also gain more in the younger generation. This is shown in the larger dominant font size that appeals in the headings and main cover lines through out. It is clear that large fonts and bright colours draw younger people in so by doing this they can appeal to younger people as well as the older generation. Throughout this magazine they do not focus on one single striking image. They use many images to advertise for many areas. By doing this they are showing the reader everything as well as telling them. Y doing this they are making for an easier read for the reader. Some higher brow people do stereotypically prefer to read but the younger generation would actually prefer to see what is going on in picture form as well as read. Therefore by having many pictures they are showing that the images are just as important as the text and are aiming to draw as many people in as they can. The font is also well documented as being consistent., They use the colours red and black all the way through as well as mixing it up with other colours. By having a consistent colours as well as the addition of some other colours also they are attracting many people with the consistency but with also the addition of the extra colour to draw the readers attention. Overall it is clear that they want to appeal to a higher brow in the genre of the magazine, however they are aiming for an increased readership through age. They have qualities that would appeal to many ages throughout. The age that they could appeal to could be between 14-50.. It is very broad making readership more likely to increase
