2. Colour Scheme: Red, white, orange and black. Orange is used to
showcase key quotations such as ''it's our turn whilst red is used
to show key people like ''ozzy osborne and janelle monae'' The
colours used are stereotypically male which is Q's readership.
Masthead: Is very plain and simple with a red background and
single font. This represents how Q wants to remain simple and
sophisticated in the modern age. The slogan ''the worlds
greatest music magazine stands out against the red background
as it is in black.
Coverlines: Overlays the main image as it is directly linked to it,
it also gives a name to the artists picture on the cover. Other
coverlines use colours to highlight key information such as name
of artist. They are situated away from the cvi, to prevent it
looking too cluttered and messy.
Central Image:
Provides a contrast as when artist is looking at the camera but
the other one isn't, which grabs the reader's eye. The orange
amps in the background continue the colour scheme/house
style of the cover. They are placed in the middle which shows
and slightly obscure the masthead which shows that they are
important.
Buzzwords: ''It's our
turn!'' a quotation from
an interview, grabs the
reader's interest as they
would like to read more.
Ozzy osborne and Janelle
Monae are high profile
artists who would bring
more readers interested
in their music.
Lure: ''17 page special, readers want to know what the special
is about.
3. The contents page is showed simply in the heading with the
word ''contents'' written next to a Q logo. This quickly and
clearly shows the reader what page they are on as well as
promoting the magazine.
Sub-headings are used to describe an artist o r topic are written
in a bold and black font. This is done to draw attention to them,
so the reader looks at them first before the sub-pictures. The
sub- pictures are placed next to their relevant sub-headings,
which allows the reader to find out more information about an
article easier. Page numbers are in various colours which lifts
up the dark tone created by the dark font of the sub-headings
The layout is very clear and simplistic and has been split into
various sections that allow the reader to view information
more easily. The second contents page also has a box for Q
review which is a staple of q magazines.

Metaphor'' Thrilled to death'' Imagery is used to describe the
excitement of the interviewee also immerses the reader into the
story. Can be seen as a metaphor or anecdote which also makes
the reader feel more connected.

for the reader to digest and understand, it also makes the article
more coherent. As well as allowing the reader to have a broader
understanding of what's going on
Quote: '' that song cost me a lot of mainstream audience''.
Embedded quotes are much eaiser to read than breaking up a
whole sentence.
