CIMMYT works in Ethiopia to develop and deliver improved, climate-resilient maize and wheat varieties. It aims to sustainably increase productivity of these crops while enhancing adoption of technologies. Current projects address issues like drought tolerance, nutrition, and sustainable intensification. CIMMYT partners with various Ethiopian organizations, including the Agricultural Transformation Agency and Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research. Progress includes 70% of Ethiopian wheat and 52% of maize varieties containing CIMMYT germplasm, strengthened seed systems, and established climate databases.
