Christopher Columbus Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of Christopher Columbus presents a unique set of challenges.
Firstly, the vast amount of historical information surrounding Columbus requires meticulous
research to ensure accuracy and depth in the content. Navigating through the plethora of primary
and secondary sources, one must sift through varying perspectives and interpretations,
considering the biases inherent in historical accounts.
The complexity of the subject matter adds an additional layer of difficulty. Christopher
Columbus, a pivotal figure in history, is surrounded by controversies and conflicting narratives.
Analyzing his voyages, impact on indigenous populations, and the consequences of his actions
demands a nuanced approach. Striking a balance between acknowledging Columbus's historical
significance and addressing the ethical questions surrounding his expeditions requires a delicate
touch.
Moreover, constructing a cohesive narrative that not only recounts the events but also critically
evaluates Columbus's legacy can be challenging. Balancing objectivity while presenting a
compelling argument or thesis adds an extra layer of complexity. It's crucial to avoid
oversimplification and instead delve into the complexities of Columbus's character, motivations,
and the broader historical context.
The essay must also consider the broader implications of Columbus's expeditions, such as the
Columbian Exchange, cultural clashes, and the lasting impact on indigenous communities.
Effectively weaving together these diverse elements while maintaining a clear and engaging
writing style requires a skillful hand.
In conclusion, writing an essay on Christopher Columbus demands a comprehensive
understanding of historical nuances, a critical perspective, and the ability to present a well-
structured narrative. It is a task that necessitates careful research, thoughtful analysis, and an
adept handling of complex subject matter. For those seeking assistance with such essays or
similar academic endeavors, various resources, including professional writing services like

Rene Descartes Argument For The Existence Of God
By basing his conclusions on knowledge that has been reasoned to be true through a
method reminiscent of a geometrical proof, Descartes effectively prevents himself
from attributing truth to something that is false. However, the structure of such an
argument is built on the assumption that Descartes s starting point is something
undeniably true and, assuming as such, the next truthwill organically stem from it.
Descartes uses this type of reasoning in his proof of God s existence and his
reasoning that the soul is inherently separate from the body, both found in
Meditations on First Philosophy. Rene Descartes s argument is multi layered, formed
in such a way that each subsequent layer depends on that one preceding it, but by
being structured... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes not only uses the methods of mathematical proofs but also uses
mathematical concepts themselves, like geometric shapes, to serve as an example of
something both clear and distinct. However, when translating the method some
adjustments must be made to ensure the structure of his argument. Descartes, in
explaining the qualities of a triangle, notes, I did not see anything in all [these
qualities] to assure me that there was any triangle in the world (Discourse, 20).
However, there is a fundamental difference between God and triangles. Descartes
highlights the differences with the idea of infinite perfection (Discourse, 24).
Descartes s argument for the existence of God is more deeply throughout in
Meditations on First Philosophy. He follows the same method, through starting what
is easily known and using that as the foundation for his argument. Descartes starts
with himself declaring himself [a] thing that thinks and reinforces that this idea is
obvious and could not be explained more clearly, similar to the concepts of math he
touches on earlier in his work (Meditations,
The Philadelphia General Hospital In The 18th Century
The earliest hospitals in America established in the 18th century were very scarce
and the first claimed to be on Manhattan Island that was established for soldiers in
1663 in Philadelphia an almshouse was established in 1732 and it later became the
Philadelphia General Hospital, they also can take credit for the first quarantine
centers for immigrants and lastly they had one of the first private hospitals
commissioned by a Dr. Thomas Bond that 3 physicians manned. Many hospitals all
over including America had deplorable conditions, this was brought to attention by
DR. John Jones who firs criticized hospitals abroad particularly the Hotel Dieu of
Paris that was said to have a 100% infection rate. Another Hospitalwas built in 1769

Longboards And Skateboards
For the longest time people believed that skateboards and longboards are the same
thing. They all thought that they all can do tricks and flips. But to the contrary
despite the fact that longboards and skateboards share four wheels and a deck, they
are both very different because they both have their intended uses. Skateboards and
Longboards share a similar structure. They both share four wheels that contain
bearings that allows the wheels to continuously spin for a while. They both share
trucks that contain bushings that act as a cushion that allows the board to turn
smoothly. They both share a deck that is usually made from plywood. Other boards
would be made out of bamboo. Longboards are more meant for transportation.
Longboards are primarily
Differences, Or The Rudiments Of Non Identity
differences, or the rudiments of non identity (Strawson 36). Identity is not a special
type of relationship of the substantial essence, and knowledge is, in the Locke s point
of view, knowledge about the type of relationship and the essence, since we are
talking about identity, forms, mechanisms of its maintenance. However, the
specificity of the identitycategories as forms of knowledge is not absolute; it has
almost all the features which are inherent to other forms of knowledge such as
concepts, the fact of a scientific theory, a scientific picture of the objective world,
etc. Locke believes that when therefore we demand whether anything be the
SAME or no, it refers always to something that existed such a time in such a place,
which it was certain, at that instant, was the same with itself, and no other (Locke
2). As it is seen, the identity in the philosophy for a long time was not problematize
as a separate issue, and appeared as a fundamental characteristic of being. Or rather,
identity appeared as a prerequisite for understanding the holistic unity of the world,
as well as a guide in the quest for knowledge of the Absolute Idea, God, universal
structures, and their identity. Locke strongly believed that identity is to be connected
with consciousnessof a person, or a man. Thus, it is important to analyze the
following passage from the Locke s book,
For it is by the consciousness it has of its present thoughts and actions, that it is

American Diabetes Association Strengths And Weaknesses
We live in an era of rapid technological change, and this environment, undoubtfully
changes the human health. Diabetes is one of the most widespread diseases,
unfortunately. Therefore, there is a pressing need to inform people about healthy
ways of living and a caring approach to their health. The American Diabetes
Association(ADA) is one of the organizations that try, to prevent diabetes and raise
awareness on the disease in the US and around the world. Unfortunately, it has a set
of weaknesses, which influence not only the work of the organization, but the
general public s opinion of it as well.
One weakness is their reliance on sponsorships. Firstly, the ADA is a public non
profitable organization, which depends on sponsorships (Fraser, ... Show more content

Understanding that diabetes has reached epidemic proportions globally, the ADA
has set up a yearly wake up call event that hopes to reach as many individuals in the
workplace, homes, clinics, and everywhere in America and have them take the
Association s 60 second survey called the Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test ( American
Diabetes Association Alert Day, 2017). This event is held every year on the last
Tuesday of March, and is called the American Diabetes Association Alert Day and all
companies and organizations that want to make a difference in this diabetes
epidemic can definitely make a difference by sharing via social media, email, digital
banners, posters, risk test handouts, and educational resources provided on the ADA s
website. This event focuses on awareness, as prediabetes is a condition that can be
reversed with weight loss, active lifestyle, healthy food choices, healthier lifestyle

The Wall Street Is An Useful Tool For The American
Economy
Pros of Wall Street
Wall Street is an extremely useful tool for the American economy. It helps those who
are in the lower part of the social ladder by giving them a chance to climb the ladder
of economic opportunity. Wall Street also helps boost other industries within
America, thereby making it vital for the American economy. As Wall Streetis one of
the most important financial institutions in the world and provides more positive
aspects for the economy than negative ones. Wall Street is extremely important for
the American economy. Jeff Madrick, the editor of Challenge: The Magazine of
Economic Affairs, in his piece Does America need Wall Street , cites historian
Alfred Chandler, who argued that the majority of the money put into America during
industrialization came from corporate profits (Madrick). Those profits were able to
make technological advances for all Americans. Daniel Indiviglio, former associate
editor of the Atlantic, states that Wall Street is also important to the economy
because it helps banks create capital (Indiviglio). That bank capital helps create jobs
in the economy by causing more money to be available to be put into the economy.
Wall Street plays an important part in the economy, and without it, America would
face financial hardships. Wall Street also helps the American economy by providing
the opportunity to be able to move up the financial ladder. Adam Davidson, a

From a business perspective, an MPA is similar to an MBA. However, unlike the
MBA, the MPA offers a wide range of program specialization in public sector fields.
For example, this includes transportation, health care, criminal justice and urban
planning and management. Master of Arts in Public Policy A Master of Arts in
Public Policy (MPP) is one of the best degrees to help students understand public
policies and the American political system. An MPP will help the student gain in
depth insight into both the State and Federal systems of government. Part of this
involves learning how the U.S. political process and framework has developed and
changed over the years. More importantly, students will learn about current events
and hot topics that they will deal with in their future career. An MPP curriculum will

Rhetorical Analysis Avatar
Rhetorical Analysis Avatar (Cultural Assimilation)
In James Cameron s critically acclaimed Avatar, there are many issues/disputes that
are represented, but there is only one that especially stands out; cultural assimilation.
Cameron s purpose for this is to better represent and portray the possibility of
assimilation to today s modern audience. He adopts a visually stimulating tone to
better impact and leave his viewers with a lasting impression of his portrayal, that
will better convey the feelings of transgression in the supremacist audience he is
trying to reach. This is known by the type of subject he is tackling and by showing a
similar situation, unrelated to the textbook cover of Native assimilation, but leaves
the same impact. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the way it is visually astounding is only a bonus, it is perfectly executed and
displayed. I feel as if this is a masterpiece because of the way it tackles
discrimination, not only from the white side view but from the how the Native
populace feels toward the invaders. It exposes the tender side of two worlds
colliding, such as trying to make peace and attempting to learn both sides of culture.
The contrast between the two worlds is shown by Jake Sully constantly moving
between both worlds, the audience is eventually more exposed to the Na vi side just
as Jake Sully is. He says It feels like out there is the real world, and in here is the

A crack of the bat and the ball goes flying high into left field. I don t get it. What is
the point of baseball anyway all you do is hit a ball and run. It s not like there is any
point. We just go to a game waist valuable time in our life and pay them to do
nothing. That s when I learned I was wrong. It was a rainy day when I wake up to the
voice of my dad yelling, Get out of bed I have some important news to tell you. I yell
back in frustration It is 7:00 AM. He doesn t care so he comes up stairs like always
when I don t want to get out of bed and turns on the scolding lights. So I have to get
up if I want to turn them off. So I get out of bed anyway, and put on some clothing

Then when I was watching baseball I saw a commercial for an online gambling thing
for baseball it was called Baseball Pros. I went online and looked up Baseball Pros it
said I had to be 18 and older so I made a fake account with my debt card I got for my
15 birthday for emergency s. So I did that and it said if I lost my first game I would
get my money back. But I wasn t planning on loosing. But there was one problem the
minimum amount of money I could do is $100. So I had used my Emergency money
on my debt card, and placed my bet 2 days later I had doubled my $100 to $200. So I
kept betting more money until I had $1000 saved up. One day I was in my room and
my dad walked in without warning wondering what I was doing. He asked What are
you doing he asked calmly. I replied to him and said, Homework! He said nothing
and left. One day I was at a game for the Royals, if they won I would get $500. As
always I was right and I had won. But I made a bad mistake and went online with a

Matriarchal Themes In A Pair Of Tickets By Amy Tan
A Pair of Tickets was written by Amy Tan and can be interpreted as an extension of
film, The Joy Luck Club. The themes of misplaced identities, strength, and
hopefulness are similar in details, furthermore, both are set in America and China.
While the film offers a closer look into the backstory of the main characters A Pair of
Tickets expound on the storyline. Together the stories permit the protagonist to be
defined as the good sister as she is continually confronted with external and internal
conflicts (190). Generational matriarchal characteristics are prevalent in the film, in
addition to defining personalities of the elderly women of the Joy Luck club. With a
melancholic tone, both settings seem to reflect a greyness and gloom moreover...

she still loses herself. Rose mentions, I just want you to be happy as her husband

notion. Sharing the same sensation in emotional loss of identity allows the
protagonist an opening; permitting a strong want to connect her with their traditional
culture. It also authorized Jing Mei to fill the void of her blurred identity, as she grips
on to the good intentions of her mom. The audience recognizes the women, and their
endurance after experiencing several severe and traumatic events that happened in
their lives, and in their country of China, more importantly, the gaining of specific
characteristics in lieu of those events. Those horrible events allowed the members of
the Joy Luck Club to recognize that they had given up themselves. Although they
were financially equipped and at a some point submissive to their Chinese traditional

American Ginseng Benefits
I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia and went ginseng hunting a few
times as teenager. It was a rare tree then and you would spend hours walking around
the woods just to find a few trees. As the demand grew more and more people are
hunting for it and some of them do so with very little care for the future of the plant.
We used to look for the stem scars on the top of the rhizome, the wrinkles on the top
of the root as you called it, by digging around the trunk a little to see if the treewas
mature enough to harvest. Many people now dig them up and then check to see if
they are mature enough which kills the young plant. The high demand and price has
led to it being even more rare and considered a threatened species.... Show more

The Autumn Crocus is also sold as an ornamental plant. Colchicine is found
throughout the plant but is in higher concentrations in the seeds and corns (Akram
2012). Colchicine is extracted from the entire plant to be turned into medicine
(Akram 2012). The plant itself can be used as an herbal remedy but it is not
recommended due to the colchicine being highly toxic and has been known to cause
death (Akram 2012). Colchicine is used to typically used to treat gout and rheumatic

has also been researched as a drug to help fight cancer due to colchicine being able

used for treatment of gout and rheumatic complaints, there has been renewed interest
in this medicine by many natural product researchers (Heran 2011). Further research
of colchicine derived from the Autumn Crocus as a cancer fighting drug should be

Heinz Spicy Ketchup
Heinz, the most recognizable condiment brand in the world is back at it again, and
this time they are spicing it up. This famous company wishes to tempt all consumers
into wanting a ketchup that not only moistures what ever food it is placed on, but
also spices it up and adds extra flavors to all foods. In order to sell the product, they
adopt a humorous tone to make the consumer remember the product, crave the
product, and the consumer will then logically make the choice of Heinz to satisfy
their spicy tomato ketchup needs. Heinz supports that their spicy ketchup should be
bought by first reminding the public of the company s credibility, then humoring
them, and finally using simple logic to prove that their ketchup is spicy. The famous
company does need to try to hard to establish their credibility. They simply need to
remind us how long they have been offering savory tomato sauce, and the consumer
knows, IT HAS TO BE HEINZ. According to a survey conducted in 2014, the most
used ketchup brand in the United States by approximately 28.51%. (Statista) The

We Are Not All Created Equal By Stephen Marche
America is the land of opportunity and equality. Many people grow up believing
this to be absolutely true, but Stephen Marche feels otherwise. He wrote We Are Not
All Created Equal, arguing his point that opportunities in this country are strictly
determined by the fate of ones class in society. Marche starts off making a strong
case by mentioning the United States third place ranking for the least amount of
social mobility. In further attempts to prove his point he outlines how class
determines the fate of Americans place in society by comparing it s rigid divisions to
those of the aristocracy in Britain. There is a repeating idea throughout the paper that
many people in the upper classes love to assume that the poor should fault themselves
for their predicament due to their lack of hard work. Marche knocks that assumption
out the park with statistical evidenceto back up his claims. Although he made a very
convincing argument with facts, he had a host of overgeneralized statements
throughout the paper, which ultimately weakened his argument of class being the
only determining factor of success in America.
Throughout the article Marche uses strong pieces of evidence to strengthen his
arguments. He mentions that, every institution, every national symbol runs on the
idea that anybody can make it; the only limits are your own limits. This is great
evidence that supports the fact that America is selling false hope and is encouraging
a sense of wide spread positive

However, an interview with employees of the company suggests that they had lost
the meaning of working amidst the repetitive work flow in the assembly lines. This,
among other conditions led to a series of employee suicides that took place in the
vicinity of Foxconn, creating much controversy on management practices and work
flow processes.
Neo Taylorism
Scientific management practices can still be observed in companies everywhere,
from performance standards, to job descriptions and key performance indicators.
Neo Taylorism, as it is more commonly known today has evolved into a more
flexible framework with a balance of standardization and welfare for the employee.
Scientific management practices have been creeping into service sectors in the
form of automated replies and standard operation procedures. In McDonalds, job
fragmentation, specialization can be observed in the workplace and aims to
standardize and routinize products and work processes.
Conclusion
Taylorism is nothing more than a skeleton for a more sophisticated and an ever
growing framework of management. Although it led to the growing of the middle
class workers and has indirectly led to a comfortable life for most people, it is also
the foundation of capitalism and mass consumption, a problem that is ever growing.

The Role Of Intercultural Communication In The
Workplace
In the workplace, various individuals with diverse upbringings and thought processes
to come together to reach a common work related goal. As the workplace becomes
more globalized, individuals from various cultures are working together; however,
individuals working in a globalized environment need interculturally communicative
adaptations for working between cultures. In this paper, I will discuss the role of
intercultural communication competence (ICC) in the workplace and how study
abroad can implement the skills to perform in an intercultural environment. Then, I
will tie this information into my intended future communication studies and career
options. To begin, intercultural communication and intercultural competenceoverlap
in their definition. Intercultural communication is communicating between cultures
and intercultural competence is the effective ability to interact with members of
another culture. This creates the definition, ICC denotes an individual s capacity to
accommodate the demands of the new environment and foster cooperative
relationships with culturally different others; hence, adaptability is the essential
element of ICC (Dai, X. Chen, G., 2015, p. 100). To summarize, ICC is all about
speaking across cultures and developing a cultural awareness.
In the workplace, teamwork allows workers to come together to reach a common
goal. In that case, it is important for team members to have a fair understanding of the
goal. In addition, teamwork requires
Conformity And Normative Social Psychology
Social Psychology has always been a key element in our understanding of human
behaviour. Conformity plays a big part in the history of social psychology;
conformity (also known as Majority Influence) is a type of social influence that
involves a person changing their thoughts and beliefs in order to fit into a group. An
example of this is during WW2, in which Hitler used his dominating opinions and
authority to influence the Nazis and obscure their views, which lead them to conform
to the horrendous orders that were given during the war. Therefore social psychology
can help us understand how a certain phrase, appearance, status, or opinion can
influence different behaviours in different cultures. However, certain cultures are
more susceptible to conform. This links to the idea of Gerard s (1955) development
of social theory, normative social influence, this consists of the desire to fit in and
obtain social approval, which results in avoiding punishment, exclusion and ridicule.
Two important studies that have been conducted by Asch and Milgram are great
examples of how conformity and normative social influence can affect people s
behaviours.
Asch (1956) conducted a line judgment task in response to Sherif s (1937) Auto
kinetic effect . The aim of his experiment was to show that people conform to group
norms when put in an ambiguous situation. From this study Sherif concluded that
when in an ambiguous situation people look to others for help and guidance, this is

The Benefits Of Extracurricular Activities In School
One of the parents greatest achievements and immediate responsibility is to sent their
children toschool but sending them to school doesn t only mean to make them
accademically active but also tomake them socially active by joining and participating
on ectra curricular activities. Participating onextra curricular activities contributes a
lot and helps the child molds their social being. From preparatory to elementary to
high schooland even to college, school doesn t only for academicenhancements and
purposes, it always includes extra curricular activities.Students who participate in
extracurricular activities generally benefit from the many opportunitiesafforded them.
Benefits of participating in extracurricular activities included having better
grades, having higher standardized test scores and higher educational attainment,
attending school moreregularly, and having higher a higher selfconcept. Participants
in out of school activities oftenlearned skills such as teamwork and leadership while
decreasing the likelihood of alcohol use andillicit drug use and related problem
behaviors. Those who participate in out of school activitiesoften have higher grade
point averages, a decrease in absenteeism, and an increased connectednessto the
school.Music, parental involvement, sports all of these have an influence on how
children performacademically. The way children choose to spend their free time can
affect their school performance;it is not simply traditional in class instruction that

the future based on participation in activities outside the schoolday.Research indicates
The Importance Of JesusMoral Authority In The Church
Whilst I think that Jesus divine authority has a significance importance for Christians,
I think that Jesus moral authority is more important because of its larger relevance to
society. Some of Jesus moral teachings are still relevant in non religious communities
are therefore this is more important than divine authority because it has had a more
significant effect on the world that his divine authority which is mostly limited to
those of the Christian faith.
Even though many people argue about the existence of Jesus as a religious figure,
most people will acknowledge that there was a historical Jesus who was a teacher of
wisdom. Wittgenstein saw Jesus as an authoritative figure not because of his divinity
but because of his attitude towards life and humanity. Wittgenstein praised Jesus for
living an honest life and argued that it was this that was more important because this
approach changed the way that people lived then and has continued to change the
way people live now. Tolstoy agrees with Wittgenstein suggesting that it was Jesus
Five moral commandments that made Jesus life notable, and not his divinity. I agree
with this idea that Jesus was a teacher of wisdom, and has a great impact on changing
the way in which people thought. This is something that continues to this day and
therefore I think that this has greater importance than his divine authority.
Alternatively, some argue that it is Jesus high Christology and the relationship that
Jesus has with God,
Niels Bohr Research Paper
He did it. He did what no one else could deduce. He inscribed his prominent atomic
model. Can you guess who he is? Well, if you do, you most likely saw it in a
science book, at a section about atoms. What most people don t know is that he did
a lot more. As you read, you ll learn more about the clever, Niels Bohr.
In Copenhagen, Denmark, October 7th, 1885, the father of quantum mechanics was
born. His parents named him Niels. He was the second child of three children, in a
prosperous, upper class family. His father was Christian Bohr a brilliant
physiology professor and his mother was Ellen Adler, daughter of a wealthy
politician. When Bohr was six years old, he was baptized as a Lutheran to please
one of his grandmothers. Bohr s parents were deeply passionate about education and
were taught at home. Niels commenced formal school at the Grammelhom Grammar
School at the age of 7. While Niels loved talking, he was weak in his native language,
Danish.

Two years later, until his death, he was elected the president of the Royal Danish
Sciences. Very soon in 1939, Bohr and John Archibald Wheeler cooperated to
produce The Liquid model . A year later, Niels fled from Denmark to America,
because of the World War 2 and worked on the Manhattan project. Niels Bohr died
in his home in Copenhagen because of a stroke on November 18, 1962. His ashes
were buried in Copenhagen s assistance cemetery near his parents.
Niels Bohr led an interesting life, and left a noble legacy behind. Although his
atomic model isn t the most accurate, it is still very globally used, Bohr also has the
honor, of having an element, Bohrium, after him. If he was alive today, he would
likely want to know how he influenced the physics community. In conclusion, Bohr
is a gifted, multi awarded person, who changed everything we knew. Like Bohr

Persuasive Effect Of Advertising In Advertising
Advertisements play a highly important role in the United States consumerist
society, as Americans are exposed to ads in nearly every form of media. Each of
these ads target a different audience and have varying levels of persuasive effect.
Take for example an Audi commercial that was released in 2017, where clowns
drove around recklessly and created a dangerous environment for other drivers. In
this commercial, different safety features of the Audi cars caused the vehicles to
avoid crashes in spite of the dangerous driving around them. The content of this
advertisement helps to determine the target audience: wealthy American drivers. The
use of clowns within the commercial provided evidence that the ad primarily targeted
American consumers, as clowns were depicted as both a symbol of humor and fearor
danger. This media portrayal of clowns as a scary and dangerous symbol, along with
the common childhood fear of clowns, is mostly unique to American culture. As a
result, those from different countries or different cultural backgrounds would have
less understanding of this advertisement. The high price for purchasing a new Audi
vehicle also gave evidence that the advertisement was targeting wealthy consumers.
The persuasive effect that the advertisement has on this target audience is determined
by a number of message strategies used throughout the commercial. These strategies
included fear appeal, appeals to positive emotion, and storytelling, with each of these
strategies
Enzyme Lab
In this particular lab, my team and I were determining and demonstrating how the
change in pH level and temperature affects enzyme activity. Enzymes are proteins in
living things that speeds up chemical reactions. We used a specific enzyme, catalase
which breaks down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. The oxygen released
from the chemical reactions creates gas bubbles, also known as foam. By measuring
the foam, we are able to determine how active the enzymeis. If there is a big amount
of foam produced in the test tubes, there is a lot of enzyme activity. If there is little to
no foam produced in the test tubes, there is little to no enzyme activity. The amount
of foam was measured by height. With this information, we did multiple tests... Show

Analysing the data, I decided to get the average height of the foam so I can juxtapose
the data. The catalase with hydrogen peroxide and sodium hydroxide produced an
average of 0.6 cm of foam. The catalase with sodium hydroxide produced an
average of 0.4 of foam. The catalase with hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid
produced an average of 0.33 cm of foam. The catalase with hydrochloric acid
produced an average of 0.3 cm of foam. The catalase with hydrogen peroxide and
vinegar produced an average of 0.26 cm of foam. The catalase with vinegar
produced an average of 0.03. Looking at the averages, the catalase that included
sodium hydroxide produced the most foam. Sodium hydroxide is the only base out
of the 3 solutions while the others were all acids. This means there s the most
enzyme when the pH is lower. Also, hydrogen peroxide is proven to make the
catalase enzyme more active. When we first began the experiment, we only put
hydrogen peroxide into the catalase and it produced the most foam. Additionally, if
we compare the data set with the hydrogen peroxide and the data set without the
hydrogen peroxide, the data set with the hydrogen peroxide had a significant greater
amount of foam than the other data set. For example, the catalase with hydrogen
peroxide and sodium hydroxide produced an
China s Economic Impact On China Essay
Executive Summary Over the years, China has been developed rapidly not only in
terms of their economic growth but also industrial development, which bring
opportunities for investors to invest in China. There are some main areas of PEST
related to automobile industry in China that investors might want to consider before
they intend to invest in the industry. Recently in China, there is an ongoing promote
rule of law. A legal system has been developed to restrict of official authority and
revolutionary excesses after the Cultural Revolt. On the other hand, China has
transformed its economic into the market orientated that positively impact on not
only in China but on the whole world as well. Since there is a high growth of
economy ongoing in China, it is a huge opportunity for investors to develop their
business in China especially the automobile industry. Alongside the large population
in China, it helps to create an opportunity for General Motor to magnify its business
and it also help to increase job opportunities in China. In addition, it cannot be denied
that China is one of the greatest opportunities in technology field because there are a
number of high technology development has been established for researching and
developing in China for technological innovation purposes over the past years. All
these rapid development in China causing a serious impact on their environment that

An experiment to investigate the effect of changing the concentration of hydrochloric
acid on the rate of reaction with sodium thiosulpahte.
Aim
I am trying to find out how the concentration of hydrochloric acid affects the reaction
time with sodium thiosulpahte.
If a clear solution of sodium thiosulphate is mixed with hydrochloric acid then a
reaction will occur where a creamy yellow precipitate of sulphur is produced.

They all increase the number of collisions.
Fair testing
* To make this a fair test I will only change one variable.
* Each experiment will be done three times so an average can be found.
* The same equipment will be used in each experiment.
Method
В· Measure out 50ml of thiosulphate and add it to the conical flask.
В· Draw a cross on a piece of paper and place the conical flask on it.
В· Measure out 10ml of acid and add it to the conical flask and start timing.
В· Look into the top of the conical flask and when the cross can no longer be seen
stop the stop watch.
В· Do the experiment again but measure out 8ml of hydrochloric acid. Then add
2ml of distilled water. The ratio for each experiment will therefore be 10:0, 8:2, 6:4,
4:6 and of acid to water
Conclusion
I conclude that whilst carrying out this investigation I found out that the more acid
was in the solution the cross on the paper disappeared quicker. This shows that the
more concentrated the acid is then the quicker the reaction time. My research about
the collision theory was correct and the more concentrated the solution is then the
number of collisions will be increased. If the numbers of collisions are increased then
the reaction time will also be increased.
My prediction that the less concentrated the acid is then the longer it will take for the
sodium thiosulphate to react with the acid is correct because experiment number 5

Genie Case
In this film, we view the case of a child named Genie who was isolated as a child.
Genie was discovered on November 4th, 1970 at 13 years of age where she was
discovered to have been strapped to a potty chair and isolated from the world for
most of her life. Throughout the film we see the many researchers found an interest
in Genie and began to investigate if she would be able to acquire languagealthough
she had passed the critical period of language development. Although, these
researchers believed that they were helping Genie and she displayed significant
progress it was clear that Genie was not able to speak proper English. She was able
to enhance her vocabulary but she failed to formulate proper and or grammatical
sentences. Genie went... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every new place that Genie discovered was a new world for her, this raised her
curiosity and allowed her to want to engage and interact with her new
environment. As we know, as infants we are born with almost all the neurons that
we will have. In Genie s case, being strapped to a potter chair for most of her life
caused her to lose many of those synaptic connections that she was not able to use.
This process is referred to as pruning, which simply stated means use it or lose it,
when theses connections are not being used they disappear and deteriorate. The
ability of the infant s brain to change in form and function is referred to as
plasticity, this is important because although Genie was not taught as a child her
brain was still able to adapt and engage to her new environment. Through this we
encounter how Genie s brain was able to change throughout her new life and how
the brain has this amazing ability that allows reorganization and the ability to form
new connections. For Genie, these connections were able to form because she now
had the chance to explore her environment, which is something she was unable to
do her entire childhood. In the beginning of the film when Genie was discovered
they examined her brain waves and found that Genie was expressed abnormal wave
patterns. This is referred to as sleep spindles, which is an indication of retardation;
this raised the question of whether or not Genie was impaired at birth or due to
isolation. However, after working with her they found that she was in deed capable
of forming new synaptic connections that allowed her to learn new words and
supported the concept of brain
Fukushima Energy Crisis
On March 11, 2011 Japan was rattled by a powerful earthquake and tsunami. When
the tsunami hit, thousands of lives were changed forever. The tsunami claimed lives,
destroyed homes, businesses, and roads and left an excessive amount of debris. The
impact of the tsunami also caused a major power outage which in turn caused a
nuclear meltdown/explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear PowerPlant. With the
devastation of that day and the days that followed, there will be long term effects on
the environment and the quality of life of the Japanese people. When nuclear power
is used, there is a possibility of a nuclear meltdown and/or explosion, thus Japan
should not be using nuclear power as a source of energy.

As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. With literally no marketing
budget, startups are forced to seek the optimal and probably most basic way of
seeking customers: Focus on who they are and where they are. You can t spend
millions of dollars to build your brand name and mindshare before influencing the
consumers to purchase your product. So, what do you do? You tweak your product
until it meets their needs and you hit the viral button to make growth sky rocket
exponentially. It is a matter of survival for startups. You have no luxury of time nor
money as it is a matter of life and death for your business. The whole company is
focused on the same goal: Get the product right for the customers to justify the
existence of the startup.
We now have a term for this: Growth Hacking. This term was coined by Sean Ellis in
2010 where he blog about a growth hacker as a person whose true north is growth.
Everything they do is scrutinized by its potential impact on scalable growth . This
term was introduced by Andrew Chen to
Autonomic Nervous System
The two divisions of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), sympathetic (SNS) and
parasympathetic (PNS), function in a complementary and integrated manner to
maintain homeostasis. The output of the autonomic nervous system is quick in
comparison to the endocrine system functions. In most cases, these systems have
opposite effects, where one initiates a physiological response and the other inhibits.
The nerves of this system regulate vital internal functions which are generally
performed without conscious control (Khan Academy, 2014).
The output of the ANS effects smooth, cardiac muscle and glandular tissue (Betts et
al, 2013)
The sympathetic division is associated with the fight or flight response, dominating in

The synapse at the axon terminal of the postganglionic neuron and the target effector
cell (in the form of muscle or gland) uses epinephrine/norepinephrine (adrenaline
/noradrenaline) (AK Lectures, 2014)
The parasympathetic division however, is concerned with rest and digest responses
and when active, reverses the effects of the SNS. The PNS system increases blood
flow to digestive organs and excretory system and decreases the blood flow to
skeletal tissue (an opposite effect to the SNS) (AK Lectures, 2014) Salivary secretion
is increased and gastric motility is stimulated to facilitate digestion (McCorry, 2007).
The PNS either originates at the start of the spinal cord or at the end (Khan Academy,
2014). The preganglionic neuron is of long structure and uses acetylcholine to
transmit signals to the shorter postganglionic neuron. The postganglionic neuron
continues to use acetylcholine to transmit to the target effector cell (AK Lectures,
2014)

Jonas s Dystopia In The Giver
Jonas lives in a community that is an obvious example of a dystopia. His community
is extremely far from perfect. Unfortunately this is what causes community leaders to
attempt to resolve these issues in problematic ways. This can unfold into complete
control, cruel punishments, and lack of freedom and knowledge. The leaders of
jonas s community have been striving for perfection, the main way this was achieved
was with sameness. As stated in The Giver, sameness eliminates one hundred percent
of all natural born issues. For example, there aren t any hills in order to speed up
transportation, and spouses are decided for you to ensure the perfect match. Every
thing is the same. Everything remains completely predictable. Unfortunately
sameness also leads to extreme lack of knowledge. Sameness eliminates all memory

On top of all of this the main punishment for citizens that are out of line is death!
They call this punishment release. Should a person really have to face death do to
a mistake that was far from intentional? The community elders want to create a
perfect society however killing people who aren t perfect isn t the answer. Not only
that but children can be released if they don t weigh enough, or are a twin to another
child. Everybody is born with their own qualities. These kinds of things can t be
changed over time, it s simply who you are. This alone instantly makes Jonas s
community a dystopia. It s truly hard to imagine why the elders think this could
possibly be the right thing to do. In conclusion I believe that the giver community
is a true dystopia. The elders are so lost in trying to perfect the community however
don t realize that their method is slowly tearing everything apart. Citizens can t
even make their own decisions any more. Everybody is simply being told how to live
their lives and if they don t obey they are being killed. The sad part is that these
people don t even realize

Post-Secondary Education
An Investment in knowledge pays the best interest this was a quote by one of our
great founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin. I firmly believe that we need to make
post secondary education not just more affordable but, free. This has been thrown
around as a joke in the past year with it being a cornerstone of presidential candidate
Bernie Sanders s platform and yes it sounds crazy, I know, but it is completely
feasible. Anyone who thinks otherwise is completely uneducated and proves my
point. This is exactly what I m going to show you today.

Total Cost of Ownership and IT Recruitment in Healthcare
Part 1: TCO Elements Review the administrative and clinical Total Cost of
Ownership (TCO) elements that are measured for your organization. Identify two to
three administrative and two to three clinical elements that are particular to your
organization. Provide a brief description of why these elements have been identified
as critical to TCO. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is framework for understand the
hidden costs and benefits of technology that may not necessary be apparent in the
initial expense procuring certain technical solutions (Hockel Hamilton, 2011). An
example may be upgrade costs associated with acquiring a new computer. The initial
pricing for the computer may be apparent, but the future costs that will be incurred to
improve the unit or make more robust and proficient must also be considered.
Administrative elements within our organization include training, support and
maintenance. Training is critical in consideration of TCO because if not accounted
for correctly and provided, end users are more likely to resist changes to new
systems, platforms and, slowing adoption of a new solution and adversely impacting
productivity (Hockel Hamilton, 2011). General support is a critical part of TCO
because unexpected needs may arise that can jeopardize performance of solutions.
For instance, system downtime can negatively impact the bottom line of the business.

Cause And Effect Of Smoking
When most people think about the negative effects caused by smoking, they usually
associate it with breathing problems and lung cancer. It has been proven that
smoking is also a major cause of heart disease for men and women. The Surgeon
General s Warning states Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema,
and may complicate pregnancy. It has also been labeled as the leading preventable
cause of disease and death in the United States. With around 20 percent of deaths
related to heartdisease being caused from smoking, it is important to look at how
smoking causes heart disease, what types of heart disease arise from smoking and
the possibility of reversing the damage after smoking cessation. The term heart
disease is often also referred to as cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is
the narrowing or blockage of blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain
or stroke. There is a drug in cigarettes known as nicotine which causes increased
blood pressure and heart rate. This is turn, results in your heart requiring more
oxygen to keep pumping. Some of the most common types of heart disease associated
with smoking are coronary arterydisease, peripheral artery disease, and strokes are
also a major risk factor. It is possible to prevent or treat these forms of heart disease
with the decision to practice a healthy lifestyle. Coronary artery diseaseis one of the
most common heart diseases associated with smoking. With coronary artery disease,
Free Primary Education in Kenya
Introduction
Since independence in, Kenya has had its share of the struggle to make it possible for
its population attains education for all. This was out of the realization that education
of the population would help fight ills that faced the society, among them included;
poverty, ignorance, and disease. In fact, the government treated education as a basic
right for every Kenyan child. Education has ever since been regarded as a
fundamental factor for human capital development. In response to this urge,
government developed policy documents that sort to expand access to education for
its citizens. It is internationally recognized that everyone has a right to education, as
agreed upon at various international conferences. Kenya tried to ... Show more

Any additional charges were to be approved by the government through the ministry
of education.
The complexity of the problem is heightened by the use of the word free . Free as a
term in English means to be able to act at will, not hampered; not under compulsion
or restraint to do something. It also means costing nothing. The term has other
numerous meanings that differ under given circumstances or contexts. We may
therefore even wonder whether education can be free or not. Is it possible to resist
education incase one is not interested in taking it freely? If free is taken to mean
what is supposed to mean in this context, how free is free? This term, therefore, may
be ambiguous and is subject to misrepresentations and hence prone to
misinterpretations. This is most likely to occur if little effort is made to clarify the
meaning of the usage. Clarity is one of the most important elements of any policy so
as to avoid multiple interpretations.
Community participation
The third concern here is the need to understand how the stakeholders in the
education understood the policy. The policy was formulated without consulting
those who are closely concerned with practice of education and those are teachers
and parents. This resulted in the lack of clear guidelines for the implementation of
free education as a government policy. The teachers were not adequately prepared to
manage the influx of pupils of all ages. Little effort was made to in service teachers

Ukiyo-E Japanese Culture
Ukiyo e and its Effects on Japanese and Western Culture
Art is a very important aspect to Japanese culture. It is a visual expression of
Japanese culture and history. Japanese art covers many subjects such as landscapes,
historical and fictional stories, people, and architecture. Throughout Japanese history,
one of the most popular genres of Japanese art were the Ukiyo e, wood block prints.
Many artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and Tsukioka Yoshitoshi became famous
creating Ukiyo e artwork. The Ukiyo e genre was not only important for reflecting
Japanese culture, but was central to shaping Western perception of Japanese art and
culture. When Ukiyo e artwork found its way into Western hands in the late 19th

Because of the Ukiyo e the people began to fall in love with the Japanese culture.
The Westerners were astounded by quality of work and all of the hard work that
goes into each of the prints. The Ukiyo e artist were not just creating the pictures
but also carving wood in great detail in order to create one coherent print. The
Ukiyo e prints brought the westerners into the everyday world of the Japanese
people. They were able to see the world from the eyes of the everyday people in
japan. Ukiyo e reflected the plays and stories in Japan as well as the landscapes
and nature of Japan. They were impressed by the beauty of Japan itself and through
Ukiyo e they were able to see it for their selves. The flat style of the woodblock
prints was unique compared to the style of the Western paintings. Without linear and
rising perspective the Ukiyo e prints highlighted certain aspects of Japanese life. For
example in Hokusai s Great Wave the waves off Kanagawa complete dwarf Mount
Fuji. This shows that the Japanese people saw the waves as a great trial when fishing
in the morning. It showed the true struggle that they had to go through each day. The
Westerner s sympathized with images such as this and their perception changed from
seeing Japanese art and culture as inferior to seeing it as beautiful and unique.

The Helicopter Flight Controls Of Fly By Wire System
ABSTRACT
Helicopter is known for being extremely challenging to fly. The helicopter flight
controls enables the pilot to attain a controlled flight. The flight controls differ
drastically when compared to the fixed wing aircraft. The advancement in flight
controls namely fly by wire system has resulted in reducing the complexity of the
system. The state of the art fly by wire system has resulted in increasing the
performance and at the same time reduces the workload of a pilot. The four main
controls include collective pitch control, cyclic pitch control, throttle control and anti
torque pedals. The employment of fly by wire has thus paved way for reduction in
weight whilst providing more space for comfort and effortless handling. The
commercial helicopter are beginning to utilize the fly by wire technology after being
tried and tested by fixed wing aircraft and military helicopter. The goal of this
technical essay is to provide an overview of the evolution helicopter flight controls
from the earlier complex analog phase to the present simplified digital phase.
Introduction
In the early 1920s, designing the rotors to attain an efficient flight was the utmost
priority. The next decade was followed by, perfection of control systems and its
mechanism for a real world flight capability. The flight control system is an element
of the aircraft control loop which is essential for the pilot. When evaluating the
aspects of an ideal helicopter the first facet to be considered is
Substance Dualism Analysis
Most famously advocated by RenГ© Descartes, substance dualism is an intuitive
doctrine holding that minds, which are essentially thinking and consist of mental
substance, and bodies, which necessarily have extension and are made of material
substance, are ontologically separate entities. As the mental and material have
entirely different natures, a mindcannot be equivalent to a body and human beings,
therefore, must be mixtures of the two substances. Despite lacking properties in
common, minds and bodies are connected through the capacity of each to causally
affect the other (Kim 34). However, regardless of how commonsensical and attractive
this view may initially appear, Descartes and subsequent dualists have all contended
with a multitude of complications surrounding mental causation.... Show more content

If conceiving of the mind as a substance independent of the physical substance of the
body results in the mind being causally secluded, then the mind has no important
explanatory role and there is no compelling reason to be a substance dualist (50). In
this paper I will first describe a few strengths of dualism and explicate the pairing
problem that is raised against it. Aferward, I will evaluate the impact of Kim s
objection and argue, ultimately, that mental substance cannot feasibly be connected
to material substance in the way necessary for causal interaction without appeal to
location within
Cloning Persuasive Essay
Cloning is a growing industry of interest to some people. As technology advances,
it becomes more viable for many things such as the food industry. The cloning

Cloning, in general, has 3 different types which can be used in a wide variety of

Differences Between The Gospel And Gospel Of John
The writer is almost always accompanied by an audience. This is because the writer
generally utilizes writing as an avenue to expression. An avenue to communicate a
message that was once bottled up in his or her mind. Whether we vocalize it or not,
we seem to write with the purpose and hope of having what we have written be read.
And we must, nonetheless, have an awareness for the particular audience we are
writing to. There are indeed differences in how one would construct a formal essay in
comparison to how one would construct an informal letter to a friend. The content
will vary. The intent and objective will be different depending on who it is written to.
Therefore, in an effort to highlight the differences between the Gospelof Matthew and
the Gospel of John, it is fitting for us to closely examine the disparity between their
audiences and between their instruction and message. In particular, we will explore
the distinction and implications of specific events in both gospels. and in the end, we
hope to expose the variation of these two books and uncover what their differences
tell us and why their differences matter.
If we were to grab a piece of paper, construct a T chart, skim through the Gospel of
Matthew and the Gospel of John, and subsequently jot down the headers for each
chapter in chronological order, we would quickly find dissimilarities between our
two lists. But it is superfluous to even move beyond the first chapter of each book in
pursuit of discovering a

Railway Labor Act Essay
Railway Labor Act and Impact on Modern Day Airlines For decades, the railroad
industry was in a period of great economic political, and industrial changes in the
United States. The industrial boom was taking its toll on the United States, and the
widespread violent work stoppages were detrimental to the railroad industry due to
tensions escalating between unions and workers. President Calvin Coolidge was
strongly vocal about the issue and urged railroads and unions to recommend
legislation to improve relations and ultimately reduce the threat of any railroad
shutdowns. As a response, railroads and unions immediately drafted legislation,
which in hopes would improve labor and union relations. On May 20, 1029,
President Coolidge signed and designated the new law as the Railway Labor Actof
1926. Coined one of the most significant and longest lasting pieces of legislation, the
Railway Labor Act provides a mechanism through which labor disputes between
railroads and currently airlines, could be handled in a peaceful, non disruptive
manner. The Railway Labor Act of 1926 is unique unlike other legislations because it
ensures no interruption to commerce, provides an unhindered right of employees to
join a labor union, guarantees independence of an organization to enact the RLA,
assists in work rules and working conditions, and assists in a prompt and orderly
settlement of disputes. The Railway Labor Act is certainly different due to the
relationship of labor and management in the
Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans Research Paper
Men who are affected by unusual spots, penis pain, thickening of the penis skin, and
phimosis the inability to retract the foreskin may be affected by a condition known as
balanitis xerotica obliterans. While this condition is not generally serious, it can get
worse without treatment and may lead to more serious complications. Not all doctors
are familiar with this condition, so men who experience the related symptoms should
be familiar with the disorder so that they can help their doctors understand what to
look for.
Following is a brief overview of balanitis xerotica obliterans, as well as the available
treatments and some tips to proper penis care.
What is balanitis xerotica obliterans?
Commonly abbreviated as BXO, this condition is considered as the male
manifestation of lichen sclerosis, a benign condition that affects the skin. While the
symptoms are not confined to the penis, they can be most worrying in this area, as ...

However, there appears to be a hereditary component, and men who suffer from BXO
are also likely to experience other autoimmune type conditions. While BXO may
appear unattractive and cause issues with sex, the condition is not contagious and
cannot be passed to a partner, either through sexual contact or otherwise.
Common Symptoms of BXO
The most common symptoms of BXO include white patches on the glans penis, as
well as under the foreskin; a thickened ring of tissue may also form around the tip
of the glans, and penis pain may also occur. Adhesions of the foreskin to the glans
may also occur and lead to phimosis, a condition in which it is difficult or impossible
to retract the foreskin over the crown of the penis. Erectile issues may also
accompany these symptoms.
In more advanced stages, the white or grayish patches may reach the shaft, and even
the scrotum. Scrubbing or otherwise attempting to move the lesions is not effective
and may cause further damage to the skin.
Health Insurance Plan For Medicaid Care
Introduction Medicaid focused managed care has become progressively imperative to
state Medicaid organizations. With healthcare reform and the enactment of the
Patient Protection Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, Medicaid will possibly be
the main insurer for increasing coverage to millions of low income, uninsured
Americans. Medicaid, a government funded health insuranceplan overseen by the
state, has supplied coverage for people with disabilities, children, pregnant women,
seniors, and the indigent. Managed careplans have aimed to contract with healthcare
providers and provide coverage at reduced costs (Smith Coustasse, 2014). The
ACA has helped people become eligible for Medicaid who otherwise would not be
able to afford health insurance. There will be more equality between genders,
before ACA, the majority of beneficiaries were female. Even though ACA has
helped more people become eligible for Medicaid, there are also challenges that have
risen due to this as well. The focus of this paper is on the challenges regarding
Medicaid managed care and how they can be resolved. The first area discussed will
be the history behind Medicaid. Then move on to the challenges of the Medicaid
Managed Care Program and how they can be resolved as well as the possible
solutions.
Background of Medicaid Managed Care Medicaid was signed into law by President
Lyndon B. Johnson on July 30, 1965 (History, 2015). Medicaid covers people who
are low income, pregnant, disabled, and
Lamb To The Slaughter Suspense
How do writers create suspense in The Signalman and Lamb to the Slaughter ?
Gothic literature and its both sub genres, contemporary and traditional are looking for
strange, eccentric, the supernatural, the magical and the sublime. Sometimes subtly
intermingled with the realistic representation and stimulation of fear and horror
within the context of a general focus on the emotional rather than the rational it
frequently has an exotic setting and locations which creates more suspense for the
reader and in large his imagery. We can see these functions more in the traditional
literature such as Charles Dickens The Signalman the writer used the darkness in the
tunnel and the ghost that appears every night to create suspense and gives the ... Show

He used the word frozen to show how hard and heavy was the leg of lamb which
gives a scary feeling as each person has a different view for imagining the leg of
lamb. The purpose of imagery is to help the reader to understand the writer s
message that is strong and visual as later the reader will relate the image he made
with how hard did Mary slaughter her husband. This makes the reader think of
how much pain caused as we can see later when the doctor came to see how her
husband was killed they suspected that it s something like a heavy metal as they
found a small patch of congealed blood on Patrick s head. The word sledgehammer
shows in detail how hard Mary hit her husband which catches the reader s breath
and gives him an eerie and scary feeling as the reader didn t expect that all of this
could happen after the writer showed how much did Mary love her
Possible Impacts Of Climate Change On Sea Turtle
Nearly all species of sea turtle are classified as endangered and are increasingly
threatened by climate change. All sea turtle species have temperature dependent sex
determination. Female offspring of sea turtle species are produced at higher
temperatures. A warming climate may drastically alter the sex ratios of sea turtles
species and reduce fertility rates and genetic variation. High enough temperatures
can also create single sex generations. A 2009 study (Hawkes et. al) on climate
change and marine that reviewed data to assess probable impacts of climate change
on sea turtles, found that one of the data gaps in past research was data on
unbalanced primary sex ratios. (x) Another 2009 study (Poloczanska, Limpus Hays)

Basic Math Facts On Math
Michalczuk‟s (2007) understood basic math facts to be an important skill for
students to succeed in math. Michalczuk (2007) generalized students who could
answer single digit, 0 9, multiplication problems (2 times 3, or 5 times 7, etc.)
Within three seconds will do well at math and those that answer in less than one
second will do excellent at math (p. 1). Perso (2007) has defined the looking back
to basics as a need to teach and focus on the basic arithmetic skills needed as a skill
for higher level mathematics learning.
In addition, Hersh (2009) stated that skills in general are more important than ever
because they allow students to further their learning as well as make judgments about
the meaning, adequacy, and accuracy of the overall content. Clavel (2003) stated if
students wanted to engage and be successful in higher order mathematical thinking
skills, mastery of the multiplication table was critical. Henry and Brown (2008)
reported students who learn to use derived fact strategies in concert with
memorization are more likely to develop mathematical proficiency than those
students who have memorized the facts without supplementary strategies (p. 172).
Wallace and Gurganus (2005) identified students who mastered the multiplication
facts, not only acquired a more positive attitude to mathematics learning, but they also
developed an overall positive mathematics experience. Basic math fact fluency
provided the necessary foundation to succeed in higher level
DBQ Women s Rights, The Market Revolution, and The
Great...
Between 1815 and 1860, mass revolutions in industry and religion spread throughout
America, changing it politically, economically, and socially. These revolutions
affected all of the country in various aspects, especially in opening new opportunities
for women at this time. The Market Revolution and Second Great Awakening affected
the evolution of women s role in the family, workplace, and society by expanding
their roles and introducing them to reform and the strength of womanhood. During
this time of the Market Revolution and the Second Great Awakening, women began
appearing as an important mВВember of family life. Women became the leading
family member because of her significance in keeping the family together and raising

These women worked on the Southern plantations all day without relief. They not
only worked in the fields, but also in the house with their masters. Though people
thought slavery was a sin, as Mrs. A did, women could not challenge slavery
politically because there was a great lack of decorum in women getting involved with
politics, thus African American women continued to work for free (Doc. C). Even
though this was a setback, women in the workforce pushed forward and strived to
become equal. As women continued to chase their equality in the workforce, they
petitioned the Massachusetts legislature to try and equal themselves with men (Doc.
I). Although women started off slow, working for low wages, they continued to
challenge for their equality in the workforce. The Second Great Awakening and the
Antebellum Market helped women to become the leaders of their family, movements
in social reform, and their independence from industrial workplaces. This helped
America have an important role in the future American society, and the global
economy and eventually politics. Although women were still a minority in the 19th
century, the Second Great Awakening and Market Revolution transformed the roles
of the family, workplace, and society and made great stepping stones to women s

Hurricane Katrina Sociology
When Hurricane Katrina slammed onto the gulf shores of Louisiana in 2005, few
people understood what impact the storm would have on the city of New Orleans.
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Katrina caused
an estimated $108 billion dollars of damage, displaced 250,000 residents and killed
over 1800 lives, most being African American and the poor ( Downey, 2011). To
present a sociological view of how Hurricane Katrinaaffected the people of New
Orleans, one must first understand how the people of New Orleans lived before
Katrina caused its mass destruction. The focus of this paper will be to uncover how
race and class affected the people of New Orleans pre Katrina and how post Katrina
has altered their cultural... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first lesson was that all federal agency personnel must understand the roles and
responsibilities they have when a natural disaster strikes (Menzel, 2006). In addition
and most importantly, they must all be aware of the situation on the ground and work
together to share a common operating strategy when an incident occurs (Menzel,
2006). These lessons led to the formation of the National Operations Center to deal
with a natural disaster or catastrophic crisis.
Hurricane Katrina revealed the difference in preparedness programs that citizens
had based on the jurisdictions the lived in. The White House Report
Recommendations concluded how inadequate these programs were and
recommended to combine the various disparate citizen preparedness programs into
a single national campaign to promote and strengthen citizen and community
preparedness (Menzel, 2006). Ten years later, FEMA continues to support families
and communities of all racial backgrounds and social classes (FEMA, 2015).
Because of Hurricane Katrina, FEMA established an Incident Management
Response Team who are now able to be deployed within 2 hours of a disaster and
arrive within 12 hours to help support local residences (FEMA, 2015). FEMA have
significantly improved their ability to help assist all communities in responding to
and recovering from
Elementary Years Research Paper
My elementary years can be described in one word, melodramatic. I went to a small
private school names Victory in the Perryton Texas. My class had a around 15 kids
in it and it only got smaller with each year. In preschool and kindergarten, my mom
decided to homeschool me. In other words i didn t really learn anything, i just had
more time to be a kid. I loved and when it came time to starting first grade i was
actually very excited to be in school. Unfortunately i was quite a bit behind. I didn t
know how to read, spell anything, and i was so much slower than the rest of my
class when it came to completing my assignments. The whole i was one of the last
kids in the class to complete all of the assignments. Then one day my principal, who
was good friends... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rest of the year we had a sub and i was very sad. The next school year i looked
for her but she didn t come back. The rest of my elementary years are just a blurred
mix of boring classes and my endless daydreaming. I remember my third grade
teacher was crazy. One day a boy farted in one of my classes and after making him
shamefully spray the room with febreze, she made him stand in the hallway the
rest of the day. That s also the year i learned how to spell Mississippi. At the of my
fourth grade year my mom moved to Amarillo Texas into this small camper. My
dad worked out of town so my little brother sister and i all moved down to amarillo
with her. She worked all day and we just stayed in the camper and home schooled
ourselves, which consisted of daily fights with my brother over lego indiana jones
and my sister... well doing whatever she did by herself. After a while my mom
starting to bring us up to her new business with her and we just played in the back
all day. Halfway through the year she took us to another private school and told us to
get dressed for school and bring our

  • 1. Christopher Columbus Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of Christopher Columbus presents a unique set of challenges. Firstly, the vast amount of historical information surrounding Columbus requires meticulous research to ensure accuracy and depth in the content. Navigating through the plethora of primary and secondary sources, one must sift through varying perspectives and interpretations, considering the biases inherent in historical accounts. The complexity of the subject matter adds an additional layer of difficulty. Christopher Columbus, a pivotal figure in history, is surrounded by controversies and conflicting narratives. Analyzing his voyages, impact on indigenous populations, and the consequences of his actions demands a nuanced approach. Striking a balance between acknowledging Columbus's historical significance and addressing the ethical questions surrounding his expeditions requires a delicate touch. Moreover, constructing a cohesive narrative that not only recounts the events but also critically evaluates Columbus's legacy can be challenging. Balancing objectivity while presenting a compelling argument or thesis adds an extra layer of complexity. It's crucial to avoid oversimplification and instead delve into the complexities of Columbus's character, motivations, and the broader historical context. • 2. Rene Descartes Argument For The Existence Of God By basing his conclusions on knowledge that has been reasoned to be true through a method reminiscent of a geometrical proof, Descartes effectively prevents himself from attributing truth to something that is false. However, the structure of such an argument is built on the assumption that Descartes s starting point is something undeniably true and, assuming as such, the next truthwill organically stem from it. Descartes uses this type of reasoning in his proof of God s existence and his reasoning that the soul is inherently separate from the body, both found in Meditations on First Philosophy. Rene Descartes s argument is multi layered, formed in such a way that each subsequent layer depends on that one preceding it, but by being structured... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descartes not only uses the methods of mathematical proofs but also uses mathematical concepts themselves, like geometric shapes, to serve as an example of something both clear and distinct. However, when translating the method some adjustments must be made to ensure the structure of his argument. Descartes, in explaining the qualities of a triangle, notes, I did not see anything in all [these qualities] to assure me that there was any triangle in the world (Discourse, 20). However, there is a fundamental difference between God and triangles. Descartes highlights the differences with the idea of infinite perfection (Discourse, 24). Descartes s argument for the existence of God is more deeply throughout in Meditations on First Philosophy. He follows the same method, through starting what is easily known and using that as the foundation for his argument. Descartes starts with himself declaring himself [a] thing that thinks and reinforces that this idea is obvious and could not be explained more clearly, similar to the concepts of math he touches on earlier in his work (Meditations,

But to the contrary despite the fact that longboards and skateboards share four wheels and a deck, they are both very different because they both have their intended uses. Skateboards and Longboards share a similar structure. They both share four wheels that contain bearings that allows the wheels to continuously spin for a while. They both share trucks that contain bushings that act as a cushion that allows the board to turn smoothly. They both share a deck that is usually made from plywood. Other boards would be made out of bamboo. Longboards are more meant for transportation. Longboards are primarily
  • 5. Differences, Or The Rudiments Of Non Identity differences, or the rudiments of non identity (Strawson 36). Identity is not a special type of relationship of the substantial essence, and knowledge is, in the Locke s point of view, knowledge about the type of relationship and the essence, since we are talking about identity, forms, mechanisms of its maintenance. However, the specificity of the identitycategories as forms of knowledge is not absolute; it has almost all the features which are inherent to other forms of knowledge such as concepts, the fact of a scientific theory, a scientific picture of the objective world, etc. Locke believes that when therefore we demand whether anything be the SAME or no, it refers always to something that existed such a time in such a place, which it was certain, at that instant, was the same with itself, and no other (Locke 2). As it is seen, the identity in the philosophy for a long time was not problematize as a separate issue, and appeared as a fundamental characteristic of being. Or rather, identity appeared as a prerequisite for understanding the holistic unity of the world, as well as a guide in the quest for knowledge of the Absolute Idea, God, universal structures, and their identity. Locke strongly believed that identity is to be connected with consciousnessof a person, or a man. Thus, it is important to analyze the following passage from the Locke s book, For it is by the consciousness it has of its present thoughts and actions, that it is SELF TO ITSELF now, and so

It helps those who are in the lower part of the social ladder by giving them a chance to climb the ladder of economic opportunity. Wall Street also helps boost other industries within America, thereby making it vital for the American economy. As Wall Streetis one of the most important financial institutions in the world and provides more positive aspects for the economy than negative ones. Wall Street is extremely important for the American economy. Jeff Madrick, the editor of Challenge: The Magazine of Economic Affairs, in his piece Does America need Wall Street , cites historian Alfred Chandler, who argued that the majority of the money put into America during industrialization came from corporate profits (Madrick). Those profits were able to make technological advances for all Americans. Daniel Indiviglio, former associate editor of the Atlantic, states that Wall Street is also important to the economy because it helps banks create capital (Indiviglio). That bank capital helps create jobs in the economy by causing more money to be available to be put into the economy. Wall Street plays an important part in the economy, and without it, America would face financial hardships. Wall Street also helps the American economy by providing the opportunity to be able to move up the financial ladder. Rhetorical Analysis Avatar Rhetorical Analysis Avatar (Cultural Assimilation) In James Cameron s critically acclaimed Avatar, there are many issues/disputes that are represented, but there is only one that especially stands out; cultural assimilation. Cameron s purpose for this is to better represent and portray the possibility of assimilation to today s modern audience. He adopts a visually stimulating tone to better impact and leave his viewers with a lasting impression of his portrayal, that will better convey the feelings of transgression in the supremacist audience he is trying to reach. It was a rare tree then and you would spend hours walking around the woods just to find a few trees. We used to look for the stem scars on the top of the rhizome, the wrinkles on the top of the root as you called it, by digging around the trunk a little to see if the treewas mature enough to harvest. • 14. We Are Not All Created Equal By Stephen Marche America is the land of opportunity and equality. Many people grow up believing this to be absolutely true, but Stephen Marche feels otherwise. He wrote We Are Not All Created Equal, arguing his point that opportunities in this country are strictly determined by the fate of ones class in society. Marche starts off making a strong case by mentioning the United States third place ranking for the least amount of social mobility. In further attempts to prove his point he outlines how class determines the fate of Americans place in society by comparing it s rigid divisions to those of the aristocracy in Britain. There is a repeating idea throughout the paper that many people in the upper classes love to assume that the poor should fault themselves for their predicament due to their lack of hard work. Marche knocks that assumption out the park with statistical evidenceto back up his claims. Although he made a very convincing argument with facts, he had a host of overgeneralized statements throughout the paper, which ultimately weakened his argument of class being the only determining factor of success in America. Throughout the article Marche uses strong pieces of evidence to strengthen his arguments. He mentions that, every institution, every national symbol runs on the idea that anybody can make it; the only limits are your own limits. This is great evidence that supports the fact that America is selling false hope and is encouraging a sense of wide spread positive

Neo Taylorism Scientific management practices can still be observed in companies everywhere, from performance standards, to job descriptions and key performance indicators. Neo Taylorism, as it is more commonly known today has evolved into a more flexible framework with a balance of standardization and welfare for the employee. As the workplace becomes more globalized, individuals from various cultures are working together; however, individuals working in a globalized environment need interculturally communicative adaptations for working between cultures. In this paper, I will discuss the role of intercultural communication competence (ICC) in the workplace and how study abroad can implement the skills to perform in an intercultural environment. Then, I will tie this information into my intended future communication studies and career options. To begin, intercultural communication and intercultural competenceoverlap in their definition. Intercultural communication is communicating between cultures and intercultural competence is the effective ability to interact with members of another culture. This creates the definition, ICC denotes an individual s capacity to accommodate the demands of the new environment and foster cooperative relationships with culturally different others; hence, adaptability is the essential element of ICC (Dai, X. Chen, G., 2015, p. 100). To summarize, ICC is all about speaking across cultures and developing a cultural awareness. • 17. Conformity And Normative Social Psychology Social Psychology has always been a key element in our understanding of human behaviour. Conformity plays a big part in the history of social psychology; conformity (also known as Majority Influence) is a type of social influence that involves a person changing their thoughts and beliefs in order to fit into a group. An example of this is during WW2, in which Hitler used his dominating opinions and authority to influence the Nazis and obscure their views, which lead them to conform to the horrendous orders that were given during the war. Therefore social psychology can help us understand how a certain phrase, appearance, status, or opinion can influence different behaviours in different cultures. However, certain cultures are more susceptible to conform. This links to the idea of Gerard s (1955) development of social theory, normative social influence, this consists of the desire to fit in and obtain social approval, which results in avoiding punishment, exclusion and ridicule. Two important studies that have been conducted by Asch and Milgram are great examples of how conformity and normative social influence can affect people s behaviours. Asch (1956) conducted a line judgment task in response to Sherif s (1937) Auto kinetic effect . The aim of his experiment was to show that people conform to group norms when put in an ambiguous situation. From this study Sherif concluded that when in an ambiguous situation people look to others for help and guidance, this is

The Importance Of JesusMoral Authority In The Church Whilst I think that Jesus divine authority has a significance importance for Christians, I think that Jesus moral authority is more important because of its larger relevance to society. Some of Jesus moral teachings are still relevant in non religious communities are therefore this is more important than divine authority because it has had a more significant effect on the world that his divine authority which is mostly limited to those of the Christian faith. Even though many people argue about the existence of Jesus as a religious figure, most people will acknowledge that there was a historical Jesus who was a teacher of wisdom. Wittgenstein saw Jesus as an authoritative figure not because of his divinity but because of his attitude towards life and humanity. Wittgenstein praised Jesus for living an honest life and argued that it was this that was more important because this approach changed the way that people lived then and has continued to change the way people live now. Tolstoy agrees with Wittgenstein suggesting that it was Jesus Five moral commandments that made Jesus life notable, and not his divinity. I agree with this idea that Jesus was a teacher of wisdom, and has a great impact on changing the way in which people thought. This is something that continues to this day and therefore I think that this has greater importance than his divine authority. Alternatively, some argue that it is Jesus high Christology and the relationship that Jesus has with God,

Well, if you do, you most likely saw it in a science book, at a section about atoms. What most people don t know is that he did a lot more. As you read, you ll learn more about the clever, Niels Bohr. In Copenhagen, Denmark, October 7th, 1885, the father of quantum mechanics was born. His parents named him Niels. He was the second child of three children, in a prosperous, upper class family. His father was Christian Bohr a brilliant physiology professor and his mother was Ellen Adler, daughter of a wealthy politician. When Bohr was six years old, he was baptized as a Lutheran to please one of his grandmothers. Bohr s parents were deeply passionate about education and were taught at home. Niels commenced formal school at the Grammelhom Grammar School at the age of 7. While Niels loved talking, he was weak in his native language, Danish. Bohr ... • 22. Persuasive Effect Of Advertising In Advertising Advertisements play a highly important role in the United States consumerist society, as Americans are exposed to ads in nearly every form of media. Each of these ads target a different audience and have varying levels of persuasive effect. Take for example an Audi commercial that was released in 2017, where clowns drove around recklessly and created a dangerous environment for other drivers. In this commercial, different safety features of the Audi cars caused the vehicles to avoid crashes in spite of the dangerous driving around them. The content of this advertisement helps to determine the target audience: wealthy American drivers. The use of clowns within the commercial provided evidence that the ad primarily targeted American consumers, as clowns were depicted as both a symbol of humor and fearor danger. This media portrayal of clowns as a scary and dangerous symbol, along with the common childhood fear of clowns, is mostly unique to American culture. As a result, those from different countries or different cultural backgrounds would have less understanding of this advertisement. The high price for purchasing a new Audi vehicle also gave evidence that the advertisement was targeting wealthy consumers. The persuasive effect that the advertisement has on this target audience is determined by a number of message strategies used throughout the commercial. These strategies included fear appeal, appeals to positive emotion, and storytelling, with each of these strategies
  • 23. Enzyme Lab In this particular lab, my team and I were determining and demonstrating how the change in pH level and temperature affects enzyme activity. Enzymes are proteins in living things that speeds up chemical reactions. We used a specific enzyme, catalase which breaks down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. The oxygen released from the chemical reactions creates gas bubbles, also known as foam. By measuring the foam, we are able to determine how active the enzymeis. If there is a big amount of foam produced in the test tubes, there is a lot of enzyme activity. If there is little to no foam produced in the test tubes, there is little to no enzyme activity. The amount of foam was measured by height. With this information, we did multiple tests... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Analysing the data, I decided to get the average height of the foam so I can juxtapose the data. The catalase with hydrogen peroxide and sodium hydroxide produced an average of 0.6 cm of foam. The catalase with sodium hydroxide produced an average of 0.4 of foam. The catalase with hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid produced an average of 0.33 cm of foam. The catalase with hydrochloric acid produced an average of 0.3 cm of foam. The catalase with hydrogen peroxide and vinegar produced an average of 0.26 cm of foam. The catalase with vinegar produced an average of 0.03. Looking at the averages, the catalase that included sodium hydroxide produced the most foam. Sodium hydroxide is the only base out of the 3 solutions while the others were all acids. This means there s the most enzyme when the pH is lower. Also, hydrogen peroxide is proven to make the catalase enzyme more active. When we first began the experiment, we only put hydrogen peroxide into the catalase and it produced the most foam. Additionally, if we compare the data set with the hydrogen peroxide and the data set without the hydrogen peroxide, the data set with the hydrogen peroxide had a significant greater amount of foam than the other data set. For example, the catalase with hydrogen peroxide and sodium hydroxide produced an

Every new place that Genie discovered was a new world for her, this raised her curiosity and allowed her to want to engage and interact with her new environment. As we know, as infants we are born with almost all the neurons that we will have. In Genie s case, being strapped to a potter chair for most of her life caused her to lose many of those synaptic connections that she was not able to use. This process is referred to as pruning, which simply stated means use it or lose it, when theses connections are not being used they disappear and deteriorate. The ability of the infant s brain to change in form and function is referred to as plasticity, this is important because although Genie was not taught as a child her brain was still able to adapt and engage to her new environment. Through this we encounter how Genie s brain was able to change throughout her new life and how the brain has this amazing ability that allows reorganization and the ability to form new connections. For Genie, these connections were able to form because she now had the chance to explore her environment, which is something she was unable to do her entire childhood. In the beginning of the film when Genie was discovered they examined her brain waves and found that Genie was expressed abnormal wave patterns. This is referred to as sleep spindles, which is an indication of retardation; this raised the question of whether or not Genie was impaired at birth or due to isolation. However, after working with her they found that she was in deed capable of forming new synaptic connections that allowed her to learn new words and supported the concept of brain

The helicopter flight controls enables the pilot to attain a controlled flight. The flight controls differ drastically when compared to the fixed wing aircraft. The advancement in flight controls namely fly by wire system has resulted in reducing the complexity of the system. The state of the art fly by wire system has resulted in increasing the performance and at the same time reduces the workload of a pilot. The four main controls include collective pitch control, cyclic pitch control, throttle control and anti torque pedals. The employment of fly by wire has thus paved way for reduction in weight whilst providing more space for comfort and effortless handling. The commercial helicopter are beginning to utilize the fly by wire technology after being tried and tested by fixed wing aircraft and military helicopter. The goal of this technical essay is to provide an overview of the evolution helicopter flight controls from the earlier complex analog phase to the present simplified digital phase. Introduction In the early 1920s, designing the rotors to attain an efficient flight was the utmost priority. The next decade was followed by, perfection of control systems and its mechanism for a real world flight capability. The flight control system is an element of the aircraft control loop which is essential for the pilot. When evaluating the aspects of an ideal helicopter the first facet to be considered is
  • 42. Substance Dualism Analysis Most famously advocated by RenГ© Descartes, substance dualism is an intuitive doctrine holding that minds, which are essentially thinking and consist of mental substance, and bodies, which necessarily have extension and are made of material substance, are ontologically separate entities. As the mental and material have entirely different natures, a mindcannot be equivalent to a body and human beings, therefore, must be mixtures of the two substances. Despite lacking properties in common, minds and bodies are connected through the capacity of each to causally affect the other (Kim 34). However, regardless of how commonsensical and attractive this view may initially appear, Descartes and subsequent dualists have all contended with a multitude of complications surrounding mental causation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If conceiving of the mind as a substance independent of the physical substance of the body results in the mind being causally secluded, then the mind has no important explanatory role and there is no compelling reason to be a substance dualist (50). In this paper I will first describe a few strengths of dualism and explicate the pairing problem that is raised against it. Aferward, I will evaluate the impact of Kim s objection and argue, ultimately, that mental substance cannot feasibly be connected to material substance in the way necessary for causal interaction without appeal to location within

  • 44. Differences Between The Gospel And Gospel Of John The writer is almost always accompanied by an audience. This is because the writer generally utilizes writing as an avenue to expression. An avenue to communicate a message that was once bottled up in his or her mind. Whether we vocalize it or not, we seem to write with the purpose and hope of having what we have written be read. And we must, nonetheless, have an awareness for the particular audience we are writing to. There are indeed differences in how one would construct a formal essay in comparison to how one would construct an informal letter to a friend. The content will vary. The intent and objective will be different depending on who it is written to. Therefore, in an effort to highlight the differences between the Gospelof Matthew and the Gospel of John, it is fitting for us to closely examine the disparity between their audiences and between their instruction and message. In particular, we will explore the distinction and implications of specific events in both gospels. and in the end, we hope to expose the variation of these two books and uncover what their differences tell us and why their differences matter. If we were to grab a piece of paper, construct a T chart, skim through the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of John, and subsequently jot down the headers for each chapter in chronological order, we would quickly find dissimilarities between our two lists. But it is superfluous to even move beyond the first chapter of each book in pursuit of discovering a

Railway Labor Act Essay Railway Labor Act and Impact on Modern Day Airlines For decades, the railroad industry was in a period of great economic political, and industrial changes in the United States. The industrial boom was taking its toll on the United States, and the widespread violent work stoppages were detrimental to the railroad industry due to tensions escalating between unions and workers. President Calvin Coolidge was strongly vocal about the issue and urged railroads and unions to recommend legislation to improve relations and ultimately reduce the threat of any railroad shutdowns. As a response, railroads and unions immediately drafted legislation, which in hopes would improve labor and union relations. On May 20, 1029, President Coolidge signed and designated the new law as the Railway Labor Actof 1926. Coined one of the most significant and longest lasting pieces of legislation, the Railway Labor Act provides a mechanism through which labor disputes between railroads and currently airlines, could be handled in a peaceful, non disruptive manner. The Railway Labor Act of 1926 is unique unlike other legislations because it ensures no interruption to commerce, provides an unhindered right of employees to join a labor union, guarantees independence of an organization to enact the RLA, assists in work rules and working conditions, and assists in a prompt and orderly settlement of disputes. The Railway Labor Act is certainly different due to the relationship of labor and management in the

While BXO may appear unattractive and cause issues with sex, the condition is not contagious and cannot be passed to a partner, either through sexual contact or otherwise. Common Symptoms of BXO The most common symptoms of BXO include white patches on the glans penis, as well as under the foreskin; a thickened ring of tissue may also form around the tip of the glans, and penis pain may also occur. Adhesions of the foreskin to the glans may also occur and lead to phimosis, a condition in which it is difficult or impossible to retract the foreskin over the crown of the penis. Erectile issues may also accompany these symptoms. In more advanced stages, the white or grayish patches may reach the shaft, and even the scrotum. Scrubbing or otherwise attempting to move the lesions is not effective and may cause further damage to the skin.
  • 48. Health Insurance Plan For Medicaid Care Introduction Medicaid focused managed care has become progressively imperative to state Medicaid organizations. With healthcare reform and the enactment of the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, Medicaid will possibly be the main insurer for increasing coverage to millions of low income, uninsured Americans. Medicaid, a government funded health insuranceplan overseen by the state, has supplied coverage for people with disabilities, children, pregnant women, seniors, and the indigent. Managed careplans have aimed to contract with healthcare providers and provide coverage at reduced costs (Smith Coustasse, 2014). The ACA has helped people become eligible for Medicaid who otherwise would not be able to afford health insurance. There will be more equality between genders, before ACA, the majority of beneficiaries were female. Even though ACA has helped more people become eligible for Medicaid, there are also challenges that have risen due to this as well. The focus of this paper is on the challenges regarding Medicaid managed care and how they can be resolved. The first area discussed will be the history behind Medicaid. Then move on to the challenges of the Medicaid Managed Care Program and how they can be resolved as well as the possible solutions. Background of Medicaid Managed Care Medicaid was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 30, 1965 (History, 2015). Medicaid covers people who are low income, pregnant, disabled, and

Gothic literature and its both sub genres, contemporary and traditional are looking for strange, eccentric, the supernatural, the magical and the sublime. Sometimes subtly intermingled with the realistic representation and stimulation of fear and horror within the context of a general focus on the emotional rather than the rational it frequently has an exotic setting and locations which creates more suspense for the reader and in large his imagery. We can see these functions more in the traditional literature such as Charles Dickens The Signalman the writer used the darkness in the tunnel and the ghost that appears every night to create suspense and gives the ... This makes the reader think of how much pain caused as we can see later when the doctor came to see how her husband was killed they suspected that it s something like a heavy metal as they found a small patch of congealed blood on Patrick s head. The word sledgehammer shows in detail how hard Mary hit her husband which catches the reader s breath and gives him an eerie and scary feeling as the reader didn t expect that all of this could happen after the writer showed how much did Mary love her

All sea turtle species have temperature dependent sex determination. Female offspring of sea turtle species are produced at higher temperatures. A 2009 study (Hawkes et. al) on climate change and marine that reviewed data to assess probable impacts of climate change on sea turtles, found that one of the data gaps in past research was data on unbalanced primary sex ratios. Michalczuk (2007) generalized students who could answer single digit, 0 9, multiplication problems (2 times 3, or 5 times 7, etc.) Within three seconds will do well at math and those that answer in less than one second will do excellent at math (p. 1). Perso (2007) has defined the looking back to basics as a need to teach and focus on the basic arithmetic skills needed as a skill for higher level mathematics learning. In addition, Hersh (2009) stated that skills in general are more important than ever because they allow students to further their learning as well as make judgments about the meaning, adequacy, and accuracy of the overall content. Clavel (2003) stated if students wanted to engage and be successful in higher order mathematical thinking skills, mastery of the multiplication table was critical. Henry and Brown (2008) reported students who learn to use derived fact strategies in concert with memorization are more likely to develop mathematical proficiency than those students who have memorized the facts without supplementary strategies (p. 172). Wallace and Gurganus (2005) identified students who mastered the multiplication facts, not only acquired a more positive attitude to mathematics learning, but they also developed an overall positive mathematics experience. Basic math fact fluency provided the necessary foundation to succeed in higher level

These women worked on the Southern plantations all day without relief. They not only worked in the fields, but also in the house with their masters. Though people thought slavery was a sin, as Mrs. A did, women could not challenge slavery politically because there was a great lack of decorum in women getting involved with politics, thus African American women continued to work for free (Doc. C). Even though this was a setback, women in the workforce pushed forward and strived to become equal. As women continued to chase their equality in the workforce, they petitioned the Massachusetts legislature to try and equal themselves with men (Doc. I). Although women started off slow, working for low wages, they continued to challenge for their equality in the workforce. The Second Great Awakening and the Antebellum Market helped women to become the leaders of their family, movements in social reform, and their independence from industrial workplaces. This helped America have an important role in the future American society, and the global economy and eventually politics. Although women were still a minority in the 19th century, the Second Great Awakening and Market Revolution transformed the roles of the family, workplace, and society and made great stepping stones to women s equal

In addition and most importantly, they must all be aware of the situation on the ground and work together to share a common operating strategy when an incident occurs (Menzel, 2006). These lessons led to the formation of the National Operations Center to deal with a natural disaster or catastrophic crisis. Hurricane Katrina revealed the difference in preparedness programs that citizens had based on the jurisdictions the lived in. The White House Report Recommendations concluded how inadequate these programs were and recommended to combine the various disparate citizen preparedness programs into a single national campaign to promote and strengthen citizen and community preparedness (Menzel, 2006).
