Brahmagupta was a 7th century Indian mathematician and astronomer who made important contributions to mathematics. Some of his key achievements include developing the concepts of zero, negative numbers and the use of algebraic formulae to solve indeterminate equations. He authored two important texts - Brahmasphutasiddhanta and Khandakhadyaka - that had significant influence on mathematics in India and the Islamic world.
