Illegal Arms Shooting Research Paper
BREAKING NEWS: Seventy Two Killed Resisting Gun Confiscation In Maryland. National
Guard units seeking to confiscate a cache of recently banned assault weapons were ambushed by
elements of a Para military extremist faction. Military and law enforcement sources estimate that
72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw.
Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction,
which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right wing tax protest movement. Gage
blamed the extremists for recent incidents of vandalism directed against internal revenue offices.
The governor, who described the group s organizers as criminals, issued an executive order... Show

Gage issued a ban on military style assault weapons and ammunition earlier in the week. This
decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which
the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms. One government official, speaking
on condition of anonymity, pointed out that none of these people would have been killed had the
extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily. Government troops initially
succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops
attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily armed
extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government s plans. During a tense standoff in the
Lexington town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government
operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. The impasse was
broken by a single shot, which was reportedly fired by one of the right wing extremists. Eight
civilians were killed in the ensuing

Transitioning Into High School
The effect of choosing which high school a student will be attending will last longer than the four
years. The decision follows the student into college, continuing their habits set in high school. The
more basic question is whether they will attend a same sex or co ed school. The different types of
high schools do not only effect the 9 12th grade experience but effects the behavior of students
transitioning into collegeclassrooms. This is a common debate in my house: whether it is helpful
to attend same sex high schools or not. My sister attended a same sex school and her college
professor noticed before she could tell him. Because of her active participation and constant hand
raising, her teacher asked if she attended a single sex... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It took me a few years of high school to be comfortable raising my hand in class. I was too scared
to ask something dumb, or answer a question wrong that I found myself and other girls asking
each other questions before asking the teacher, said Jessica Recker, senior at Perrysburg high
school. Many co ed schools find it necessary to have a talk to males about how to treat female
classmates and how to behave themselves while also teachings girls how to properly treat their
make classmates. Single sex schools communicate more on how to handle the drama that may
occur when putting same sex students together. Transitioning from high school to college is a
complex process for students from all schools. It s complexity is rooted not only in choosing the
gender of the school but rather the size, environment, distance and other factors that go into
determining where these new adults will go for their next four years. Although the college
atmosphere is a new feel for all incoming freshmen, the habits and behavior students learn from
high school tend to stick with them when they enter classes at universities. The effect of going to a
same sex high school can show differently in all students at the start of college. The same goes for
co ed graduating

The Millon Clinical Multiaxial IIi
The Millon Clinical Multiaxial III (MCMI III) is a frequently used self report personality
inventory (Magalhaes, Magalhaes, Noblitt, and Lewis, 2012). Millon theorized that certain
personality prototypes are directly related to certain disorders. This test takes approximately 25
minutes to complete (Choca, Widiger, 2001). This version does include an optional Correctional
Report to be used with the inmate population. The MCMI III is used to evaluate individuals for
interpersonal, emotional, or behavioral difficulties (Millon et al., 1994). The Millon Clinical
Multiaxial IV (MCMI IV) was recently released, however due to lack of published studies it will
not be utilized in this review (Millon et al. The MCMI III is a widely utilized... Show more content

The 175 items are self report true false items. The MCMI III measures 14 personality disorders
and 10 clinical syndromes (Strack, Millon, 2007). It utilizes an ordinal scale to measure how
well the examinee fit the constructs being measured. Each construct is split into two groups of
items. One type of item (prototype) represents features that are unique to a disorder, and the other
type of item (peripheral) represents features that may be similar to different construct item
(Strack, Millon, 2007). This accounts for why there is so much crossover between constructs.
The prototypal items are weighted two and the peripheral items are only weighted one. The item
weighting system of the MCMI III was changed to a two point system in comparison to the three
point systems used in previous versions (Craig Bivens, 1998). The 24 scales are broken down into
four sections designed to distinguish between the personality characteristics (Axis II) and the
disorder displayed (Axis I) (Millon et al., 1994). The moderate personality disorder scales consist
of Schizoid, Avoidant, Depressive, Dependent, Histrionic, Narcissistic, Antisocial, Aggressive,
Compulsive, Passive Aggressive, and Self defeating disorders (Millon et al., 1997). Schizotypal,
Borderline, and Paranoid Disorder make up the severe personality pathology scales (Millon et al.,
1997). The moderate clinical syndrome scale is composed of Anxiety, Somatoform, Bipolar: Manic,

Second World War Alliances
Though the Second World War consisted of many participating countries all linked via a variety of
alliances, pacts and treaties. Theses alliances are not the type of you would think of in the common
sense. Though these alliances were presumably and originally initiated with goal of both parties
mutually benefitting from winning or preventing a war, this would slowly change has the war
progress. Countries that had made alliances with each other would lead to not complete mutual
support but using the each other for their own agendas. This would be true for both the Allied
Powers and the Axis Powers. Though there are many facets that led to the beginning of the Second
World War, one can argue that a major factor would include relations between Nazi Germany

The relationship between Nazi Germany and Italy was also like this. Italy, under the ambition of
Benito Mussolini, initiated a campaign on June 10th 1940 in North Africa in hopes of building an
empire reminisce of the Roman Empire back in the first century. Italy begins its campaign in North
Africa with an attempt to take Egypt from the British Empire. After a few encounters with Britain
in Libya and becoming low on resources, Mussolini appeals to Hitler for a bailout. In response
Germany commences Operation Sonnenblume or Operation Sunflower, sending the Deustsche
Afrikakorps (DAK) commanded by Lt. Gen. Erwin Rommel to aid the Italians as a blocking force
against the British. Though the inclusion of Rommel and the DAK lead the Italians from defensive
to offensive, the outcome unfortunately leads to Italy s unsuccessful attempt at North Africa
subjugating Italy under Nazi Germany and its agenda. It can be said that the nature of the German
Italian alliance in North African campaign was one of only self interest and opportunity not of

Difficulties And Challenges Of Learning
One of the greatest skills that we have developed as a people is our capacity and ability for
language. Creating a way for us to communicate spread ideas and further enriches our lives,
language both verbally and written, has been a great benefit to our lives. Unfortunately not
everyone is as quick to understand language in its forms, for example when a person may have
difficulties in reading. Obviously this would create a great hindrance to a person s life, and there
have been a few identified factors that have correlated with difficulties in learning to read. One of
the main connections that has been found is that a person who has difficulty in processing sounds
of words, that they may also have lessened readingabilities. In discussing... Show more content on

For one, even though there has been shown to be a link between auditory and verbal abilities
and reading, they are only parts of what make up the entire whole process of reading (Bishop
and Snowling 2004, Cain et al. 2004). Secondly is because there are a few important distinctions
to make between the two group sets. First would be the types of skills that fall in each group.
Examples of skills that fall within the phonological side are letter sound knowledge and
phoneme awareness (Hulme et al. 2012). In discussing phonemes, they can be defined as a unit
of sound to distinguish units of meaning or put more simply, the different noises that when put
together create words (Fox and Routh 1980). Non phonological skills on the other hand would
relate to semantics along with dealing with the definitions and comprehension of words (Bowyer
Crane et al. 2008). The second is the problems associated within each skill set. When dealing with
problems associated with reading, on the phonological side concerns with word decoding may
arise if these skills slack (Bowyer Crane et al. 2008). With non phonological skills issues, problems
with reading comprehension can occur (Bowyer Crane et al. 2008). In discussing problems that
arise within the phonological group set, along with more in depth skill insights, a number of
researchers have found vital breakthroughs. In dealing with the learning of reading, phonological

2 4 Cents Foolish Analysis
How many times have you had to look for pennies to pay for an item at the store? Perhaps to
throw away into a wishing well or a fountain? Finding pennies everywhere, burdening the average
person with such small valued coins is just troublesome since it takes so many to create a great
amount of currency. In turn, pennies should not be used and produced in the United States any
longer, they re simply not convenient to use in our everyday lives.
A key point of why the US should not continue to create these coins is because of the money
needed to make them and who pays. As written by the author of Penny Wise, or 2.4 Cents
Foolish? , In the United States, the mint says, each zinc and copper coin costs 2.41 cents to
produce and distribute ... From the standpoint of economics, that s just a total waste of money, Mr.
Velde says. It takes more than double the absolute amount of a penny just to manufacture it and
distribute it than for the actual worth of it. This is a colossal waste of money each year to simply
create these coins. According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

price of pizza might go down to 95 cents rather than $1 to avoid crossing that higher price
threshold. Over all and over time, there should be no net price effect, he says. Businesses would

What Is The Code Of Hammurabi Dbq
The Killer Hammurabi Imagine hitting your parents and having your hands cut off because you

Hammurabi s Code was unjust because if you are stupid and you make a mistake you will most

this is unjust for the reason of you making a mistake and dying for it and if you get a disease it is

Smoking Has Changed Through The Years
Smoking has greatly changed through the years. However, if one thinks about, it does smoking
control society in a particular way, or does society control the view on smoking. Through time, one
can discover that there are many examples that may explain this question.
People in the 1960 s thought smoking was considered cool at the time and it was the thing to do.
Many people saw smoking as a symbol of statuses, such as being a hard worker or even an office
worker. It showed that one had class because you were a refined person with a good paying job
(White, Cameron,Oliffe, Bottorff). In many cases, smoking was considered beautiful for a women
to smoke, in addition to her daily beauty routine. It was also associated with a strong, hardworking,
and handsome man who all the woman would try to get a date with.
Many people were misled by the cigarette companies who claimed that their cigarettes were easy
on the throat. The cigarette companies labeled the cigarette cartons with a picture of a man in a
white lab coat that represented a doctor. They also printed on the cartons that they asked your
doctor if it was ok to smoke, but in reality, they did not (Gardner, Martha, Brandt). This marketing
scheme worked very well to mislead people in believing that cigarettes were healthy for you.
Since people see Doctors as intelligent people and are professionals in their respective field and
studied medicine for years, people believe them undoubtedly.
The media was very successful in

Figurative Language In Brown Eyed Girl By Van Morrison
The song Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison is about a man who is in love with a brown eyed girl.
The song is full of figurative language and various tones.
To begin with, Brown Eyed Girl uses figurative language. For instance, symbolism is used at the
beginning of the song. The line Days when the rains came is a symbol for the dark days in a
relationship. Next, symbolism is used in the second stanza. The day Tuesday is symbolic because
Tuesday goes by so slow but he asks where it went as if it flew by. Then, a metaphor is used in
the third stanza. The metaphor playing a new game is talking about the fun and new things in their
life. In addition, a hyperbole is presented in the middle of the song. The hyperbole hide behind a

song expresses loneliness. In the second to last stanza the lyricist writes so hard to find my way

Senior Prom Memories
I have a lot of good memories of my senior prom. The Hilton s California ballroom, the dancing,
and socializing with friends were some of the memories. But most of all, the food was the best
memory of all. The food served at Castlemont High s senior prom was colorful and delicious. One
could not help but to see, smell, and eventually consume the food. The meal consisted of hors d
oeurves, the main course, beverages, and dessert. All of these delicacies combined made the prom a
satisfying experience.
I remember vividly the set of hors d oeurves. The hors d oeurves were arranged in a big heart to
set the mood of mystery and romance. The bright crimson bell pepper stood mighty in the face of
its relative, the humble, dull, green pepper. The darkened pieces of beef had visible hints of all
purpose seasoning and slivers of onions. The dull pink jumbo shrimp looked like crescent moons,
outrageously swollen, and just about ready to bust out of their transparent, segmented shells.
The smell of hors d oeurves served to whet the appetite of all in attendance. The hickory smell of
beef stood out to draw everyone near. The shrimp had a salty smell with a hint of ocean water. The
bell peppers, both green and red, had a tart smell, compared to their fleshy counterparts. My taste
buds watered, but nothing could compare to the next course I was about to see.
After devouring the hors d oeurves, the main course was set before us. The arrangements of

It has come to my attention, that employees are concerned over some issues with the health

have come up with an excellent employee benefit plan that would educate the employees on their

Time Off and FMLA Rights
We understand that things happen in a person life that must have actions taken as soon as
possible. There are a few options the employee has as far as time off or leave. All time off or leaves
are unpaid but the employee can choose the time off needed.
1.The fist leave/time off the company offers is a 10 day personal leave. This is for employees
that have worked out their 60 day probation period. You can request this leave only if your
probation period is over. This is an unpaid leave and employees must return to work after the 10
days or they are considered as job abandonment at which time termination will follow. 2.The
second leave/time off granted to the employee is a 30 day personal leave. This is for employees
that have worked out their 60 day probation period. You can request this leave only if your
probation period is over. This is an unpaid leave and employees must return to work after the 30

Ambiguity In Great Expectations
Ambiguity draws across anyone; when they are seeking a coherent meaning in their life. The
fabric that weaves together existence can be baffling when one seeks to analyze it. The search for
self, as well as knowing and trusting one s self is echoed through out literature in humanity; it could
be haunting and cause great trepidation, to hold on to a vision that could alter their judgement, as
well can cause a fierce storm in the supreme realm that is objective truth. Great Expectations, by

The second chapter, The Nanny Dilemma, gives us an understanding that Dominique just like
many New York nannies leave their hometowns, families and everything behind to work. I can
agree with what Cheever mentioned Here the children are the boss, the children run the home .
It s the truth, because in United States were have lots of working parents who have to leave
their children at day cares or after school programs. An approximate earning for a full time nanny
is less than 600 dollars a week. Personally, being a nannie is a huge responsibility and sometimes

The Goblin Market By Christina Rossetti
A woman in the Victorian era was good for few things marriage being of the upmost importance.
When married, a woman needed to pure of sexual experiences and desires, for only men had
sexual needs to be fulfilled. If a woman were ruined, or not a virgin, she was unmarriageable. Few
outlets were available unmarried women to survive, and many of them turned to prostitution. We
shall see the image of a ruined womanpresented by Christina Rossettiin The Goblin Market, and
find the conflicting images of a prostitute in D. G. Rossetti s Jenny and Thomas Hardy s The
Ruined Maid. Christina Rossetti s The Goblin Market is a poem that explores through heavy
metaphors a woman s place and action in society, whether she is fallen or not. The Goblin
Market focuses on two sisters, Laura and Lizzie, and their experience with the goblins that
attempt to sell the girls their fruit. Laura, rather curious than afraid of them, gives into their
pitch and devours the goblins fruit an act that over a short time ages her and sends her rapidly
towards death. In an act of self sacrifice, Lizzie confronts the goblins for fruit for Laura, but they
beat and ravage her with their claws and fruit. She returns, giving Laura a second chance at life
by eating and drinking the juice and left over pulp from her beating. In a tale like The Goblin
Market, it is easy to stop at the surface for a moral story a young woman risks her life to save her

Motivation is a conscious decision to perform one or more activities with greater effort than other
competing activities. (Wendy Bloisi, 2007) The Erasmus Sport Center uses the Herzberg s dual
factor theory to motivate the employees.
Herzberg s dual factor theory is a need based model, that insight into motivation from 2 different
points of views. 1)Job satisfaction and job dissatisfaction derive from different sources.
2)Simply removing the sources of dissatisfaction will not cause a person to be motivated to produce
better results.
These factors can be divided into hygiene factors, which involve working conditions and can trigger
dissatisfaction if inadequate. And motivation factors, which originated from the nature of the job
itself and can create job satisfaction (Wendy Bloisi, 2007).
The hygiene factors of the Erasmus Sport Center are:
Job security

Requirements And Issue Management Systems
1.Requirements and Issue Management Systems
Requirements and issue management systems allow managers or leaders to classify and affiliate
characteristics with them, and to establish and evaluate dependencies and other common ties.
Requirements set the stage for a project and issue management is an important process of
identifying and resolving issues (Cook, 2015). Shaw Industries used an agile methodology called
Scrum to improve relationships between IT and business partners to ensure project success (O
Brien Marakas, 2011). IT used this tool to work collectively as a group and determine which
project will give Shaw Industries the best value. They divided the project into segments: 30 days to
complete a series of tasks. Once the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IT must have something to show during its effort, and if they deliver, this will promote a positive
relationship.
A healthy organization is one that involves people who are loyal to one another, never judges,
expresses genuine appreciation across their organizational structure, assists others with critical tasks
and never places blame on someone (Williams, 2013). When businesses make and keep promises,
they see strong trust and respect across the organization. If they often make commitments but fail to
keep them, people will see frustration and self starving behavior (Williams, 2013). Shaw Industries
focused on consistency to build a trusting relationship with their client. They delivered priorities by
an explicit deadline and in turn, trust was earned. A customer s ability to trust is dependent upon
showing the customer that your behavior is consistent and persistent over time. When a customer
can predict your behavior, that customer is more likely to trust you (James, 2012).
While the agile system was the popular choice for Shaw Industries, this certainly does not mean it is
the best choice for every organization. There are hundreds of Requirements and Issue Management
software available. SpiraTest, RequirementsHub, DevSpec, Gatherspace and Bugzilla are just a few
that are popular today (Top Requirements Management Software Products, 2015). Each has their
own set of tools and configurations to assist project managers. An effective issue management

Introduction To Invertebrate Palaeontology
In his book, Understanding fossils: an introduction to invertebrate palaeontology, Peter Doyle writes
this about the ongoing, and continuing formation of layers of the Earth:
The bodies of countless millions of organisms, microscopic and macroscopic, form whole rocks;
the invaders of the land, plants and animals, have helped shape the landscape by both accelerating
and reducing erosion.
Doyle gives an introduction to the beginnings of two scientific areas of study by explaining the
work of a Danish doctor. He explains that palaeontology has its roots in two subjects, geology and
biology. A Danish physician Niels Stensen, also known as Steno, who lived from 1638 1638, is
arguably credited with originating geology and paleontology. Discovering that sharks teeth found in
Tuscany rocks were identical to modern shark s teeth, Stensen ... Show more content on

The remains of plants and animals, are part of the strata, or layers of the earth. Several articles
discuss Phytoliths and their impact on the strata that have formed over time. A University of
Washington publication defines Phytoliths: Phytoliths are microscopic silica bodies that precipitate
in and around cells in many plants. When plant tissues decompose, the silica is deposited in the
soil, forming a record of past vegetation. They provide evidence of the plants found in the historic
layers of earth.
Work done previously by many scientists provides new information, generates new questions and
lays a foundation for continuing studies. Everything leaves a trail, or a history of itself, building
upon the history of the previous inhabitants on this planet. This makes me consider the impact I
have on the earth, my carbon footprint. I realize that I can have an impact on the history of our
planet by the choices I make. I hope my impact is positive, because I would like for the Earth to

Totalitarianism In Nazi Germany
The discrimination of athletes leads me to the Totalitarian regime of Adolf Hitler in Nazi
Germany who severely discriminated non Aryan athletes. Hitler s Nazi philosophy believed that
Aryans who were Indo Europeans with blonde hair, tall bodies, blue eyes, and sharp facial

until [he] had planted a seed of Nordic blood wherever the population stand in need of

society capable of defending a nation against outsiders. This led to the use of sport organizations

The Two-Track Mind
Thinking critically, possessing a biopsychosocial approach and a two track mind, as well as
exploring human strengths continuously emerge in psychology as the four main ideas. Critical
thinking refers to inspecting any ideas given and not automatically believing those concepts. The
biopsychosocial approach discusses human conduct and the perspectives of its examination. Those
perspectives include biologically, psychologically, and socially. Every human shares a similar
biology, but differences arise psychologically and socially. The latter two views differ due to one s
experiences, social interactions, and the culture with which one identifies with. The two track mind
refers to the way the mind stores and sorts information. The human mind does this two ways,
knowingly and unknowingly, hence the term two track mind . Finally, exploring strengths... Show

Additionally, the relationship between the number of miles driven and the condition of the vehicle
s tires represents a negative correlation because as the number of miles driven increases, the state of

Correlation does not provide proof that one variable causes another because it merely predicts
the likelihood of the relationship. Although two ideas can relate to each other, other factors can
also produce those two original elements. For example, low self esteem could lead to depression,
just as depression could lead to low self esteem. Additionally, life experiences and hereditary

Discretion-Related Validity
Essentially, there are a variation of methods to record the job relatedness and precision of a test as
a decision making device, however, a working comprehension of validation should focus on some
general types of validation. According to Heneman, Judge, and Kammeyer ВMueller (2012, p. 335)
Validity is defined as the degree to which a test measures what it is supposed to measure. All the
more, the differences among face validity, construct validity and criterion related validity are as
follows:
Face Validity:
Face validity pertains to whether the test looks valid to the examinees who take it (Niche

Criterion Related Validity is the extent to which a test or questionnaire predicts some future or
desired outcome, for example work behaviour or on the job performance. This validity has
obvious importance in personnel selection, recruitment and development. Whenever possible, the
statistical evaluation of the relationship between selection measures and valued business
outcomes is desirable. This type of validation is known as criterion related validation and it can
provide concrete evidence of the accuracy of a test for predicting job performance. Criterion
validation involves a statistical study that provides hard evidence of the relationship between
scores on pre employment assessments and valued business outcomes related to job performance.
The statistical evidence resulting from this process provides a clear understanding of the ROI
provided by the testing process and thus helps document the value provided. Criterion related
validation also provides support for the legal defensibility of an assessment because it clarifies the
assessment s accuracy as a decision making tool. While criterion related validation may seem
mysterious, it has much in common with two more well known concepts that are used to help find
value within business processes: six sigma and business intelligence. Both of these methods require
that data be examined in order to help clarify relations between various process components. The
resulting information can be used to help streamline business processes and uncover meaningful
relationships between various streams of data. The creation of a feedback loop using criterion
validation is really no different (Handler, 2009).Criterion related validity is the ability of a test to

Tragic Drama According to AC Bradley s Theory of...
Part one: Tragic drama according to A.C. Bradley s theory of Shakespeare
The substance of Shakespeare s tragedy solely points out to the power of death. In this five act
play, the death of important characters suffices for the cruel reality of life. However, a completely
realm is required in order to observe Shakespeare s version of tragedy. Shakespeare has used
tragedy to explain on the major paradoxes of life. It can be called a Paradox of disappointment.
Defeat, unfulfilled desired, failed hopes and then finally death are some of the faces of tragedies
faced by Human. These are realities of life and cannot be avoided. Although they form the
foundation of our lives but are still considered as intruders to our ideal version of life. This is the
reason why when we are confronted by tragic literature in this particular paradox, we become
fascinated.
Bradley emphasizes on viewing the literary techniques used not as the basic constituents but as the
expression of tragedy. Some of the major characters in Shakespeare s renowned tragedies are
Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, and Macbeth. Most of these characters are individual sufferers as in
reality; a single man faces the paradoxes of life. In every work of Shakespeare, irrespective of the
individually unique traits, we find a shattered hope or a failed ambition as a reason for frustration.
Hence, it is the disappointment paradox which serves as the substance of any tragedy as per
Shakespeare. Furthermore, it is the death itself

Disadvantages Of Infinitive Clauses
Section Three
3.1 Non finite clauses
(Quirk, Greenbaum, Geoffrey, Svartik, 1985), say that non finite clauses are regularly dependent.
They are more compact and less explicit than finite clauses. They are not marked for tense and
modality, and they frequently lack an explicit subject and subordinator. (17): I don t know what to
write about.
3.1.1 Types of non finite clauses
1 Bare infinitive
Bare infinitive is the base form of the verb without to, this form of nonfinite clause has no tense.
The bare infinitive in general is very limited because it mostly occurs after verbs of causation,
perception and modal auxiliary. (18): I saw Jim leave. (See is a verb of perception) (19): I can tell
the truth. (Telling the truth is what occurs after modal auxiliary.
Bare infinitive in this case, functions as the complement of a verb, that is , it adds more
information to make the main verb understandable. (Biber, Johansson, Leech, Conrad, Finegan,
1999).
2 Infinitive clauses
Uninflected infinitive forms which comprise simply the base or stem of the verb with no added
inflection (such forms are frequently used after the so called infinitive particle to) Infinitive clauses
can have a range of syntactic roles a subject (20): The best thing would be for you to tell
everybody. b without subject (21): The best thing would be to tell everybody. c Direct object (22):
He upset you very much, and I hate to see that. (Quirk, Greenbaum, Geoffrey, Svartik, 1985)

Promiscuity In Sula
Steve Maraboli wrote, Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control
of what you do have power over, instead of craving control over what you don t. While
perceptions towards female sexuality have become more and more liberal over time, they still
tend towards an expediently bigoted dynamic in which women are only encouraged to be sexual
to an extent. The idea of women being self confident, even single minded, in cultivating rousing
sex lives is still often looked upon as immoral and impure. In Toni Morrisson s novel Sula, not
only is female sexuality lopsidedly categorized, it is seen as worthy for castigation. Missing
from the main conceptualization is the blunt acknowledgement that female promiscuity can be
empowering. A woman can derive power from her sexuality. By realizing what she s been gifted
with, she can gain her freedom. Sexual empowerment for her involves recognition of her sexual
being, embracing that power, and exhibiting it confidently without fear of disrepute. By
embracing the body she is born into, understanding the power it wields, and displaying total
command in making choices regarding her body, she holds the power to not be castigated for
craving and loving sex. Neither is she belittled with abusive words for not keeping her body as a
holy shrine, allowing only one man entry. A sexually assured woman, conscious of her own
desires, and confident in her allure can claim sex solely on her own terms.

Hakkas were much fewer than Minnan people. There were two reasons: the first is that during the

Hair Styles and Make-up of the Renaissance
Hair styles and make up have been a significant part of the culture for centuries. It has been
changing with every era, decade or style of art. The difference can be as small as a change of a
shape of the eyeliner or it can be a complete change of people s looks. What was considered
beautiful in Renaissance was absolutely outdated 100 years after this era. In this essay I will be
talking about the hair and make up in Renaissance. It all started in Italy, home of the greatest artists
of the time. The first section of my essay will be about Italy and the way people were changing
their natural appearances using various products. In the second section I will move to the north of
Europe to explore a bit more about this topic and see how much the fashion that was set in Italy has
changed. In the third section I will look at what was going on in the Great Britain and compare the
Elizabethan hair and make up to the continental style.
Italy has always been a cultural capital, at least in the eyes of people who have taught me history
and art. Majestic buildings, amazing paintings, impressive statues that is just a fraction of what
was created in Italy. Renaissance is a unique era, after the Gothic art strictly controlled by the
Christian Church; people are turning their eyes away from the God and the God alone to
themselves as well. Leonardo Da Vinci is studying anatomy and people are trying to look their best.

Zachary Taylor Compromise Of 1850
Zachary Taylor, elected in 1849, only served sixteen months in office as president of the United
States. Zachary Taylor was a commemorated war general for his roles within the War of 1812,
the Black Hawk War, Seminole Wars, and the Mexican War. Yet, it was only after the Mexican
War did he get public recognition and received a nomination by the Whig Party for president.
Taylor never officially finished his education and never seemed to particularly care for politics.
Besides his own election, he had never voted and he did not even vote for himself. Taylor was a
peculiar candidate, he had no political experience whatsoever and to be potentially be a
president shocked many. Fortunately for him, former president Martin Van Buren caused a split
of votes between himself and Lewis Cass. He also happened to be slave owner, which appealed

The True Meaning Of Love In Love With My Best Friend
Whenever I was a junior in high school, I fell completely in love with my best friend. I know

I did not realize all the lessons I learned and growing I did. I not only learned the true meaning of

different people cope, what I have learned, and how this shaped me into who I am. The craziest
thing about love is that it is abstract. You may love an object or person, but you can not grab

not matter to me anymore. After every thing went down, I felt broken. I felt like nothing in my
life was going to be okay again. Isn t it unimaginable how something you can not even see makes
you feel this way? I shut out every thing around me and pushed people away. All because one
person decided to give up when I did not want to. Even after the horrible exchanges of words
were tossed back and forth, I still did not want to give up. I was hoping his love would be strong

Acid Base Disturbance Report
Acid Base Disturbances is any condition which results in changes of the extracellular fluid pH from
the normal range of pH 7.35 7.45. ... Because the blood pH and the ECF pH are almost always
equivalent, disturbances of acid base homeostasis are diagnosed by measuring blood pH. When the
pH is below 7.35, the condition is called acidosis; when the pH is above 7.45, it is called alkalosis
Вќ. (VanPutte, 2013). Acidosis or Alkalosis states are categorized as being either metabolic or
respiratory so the imbalance or condition maybe respiratory acidosis, or respiratory alkalosis,
metabolic acidosis and or metabolic alkalosis. Because the body is always striving for or
attempting to maintain normalcy (homeostasis), regardless of the etiological source all initial acid
base disturbances will result in an imbalance of the normal pH ratio. To combat the effects of

Taking a Look at Capital Structure
LITERATURE REVIEW
Literature Review:
Rao (2001) made an attempt to explain the variation of capital structure across industries in India
during pre and post liberalization regime and also examine if there is any significant change in
average industry level capital structure during post liberalization regime. The study is based on
industry wise data of 85 industries in manufacturing sector the results shows that there has been
significant decrease in leverage during post liberalization regime and there has been change in set
of explanatory variables for capital structure. The most significant explanatory variables for capital
structure during pre liberalization regime were the measure of profitability, risk and asset type.
During post liberalization regime measure of profitability, growth and asset type were the most
significant variables.
Bhaduri (2002) studied the capital structure choice in developing countries through a case study
of Indian corporate sector, for the period 1989 90 to 1994 95, based on a sample of 363 firms
across nine industries. The author has reported optimal capital structure choice is influenced by
factors such as growth, cash flow size and product industry and characteristics.
Gupta (2004) conducted a study of a sample of 210 companies reporting the seventeen industrial
sector in India for 1992 2000 period by using ANOVA and multiple linear regressionmodel. The
study found significant variation in debt equity ratio in industrial sector. The cement

Start The Fire
Throughout history music has been used as a method of communication and protest. This trend
spiked particularly during the Vietnam War in the 1960s and is shown throughout the decades with
different groups or genres to continue in increasing popularity throughout the decades (Candaele).
One particular song that portrays this is We Didn t Start the Fire, written and sung by Billy Joel.
We Didn t Start the Fire exemplifies a popular song taking a stance against contemporary social
issues in 1960s 1980s America, particularly involvement in the Cold War. In order to understand
why We Didn t Start the Fire addressed the issues of the Cold War and other controversies
surrounding that time, one needs to know of the historical background of... Show more content on

The lyrical message of the song is very in your face. There s no question as to what the singer is
referencing, nor his stance on the issue. The song structure (reiterating the chorus after listing
certain people, events, etc.) helps reiterate his message by singing the chorus stating his opinion
after bringing up controversial issues in an ABAB form. Additionally, Joel uses metaphors such
as fire burning to represent contention among mankind to illustrate his message. The rhythmic
feel also contributes to the pleasing sound of the recording, thus showing, along with the
previously mentioned musical aspects, the detail put into creating We Didn t Start the Fire in
an endeavor to help the listener be receptive to the message. The level of success of these
methods are shown in receptivity of the song following its release. This song was very well
received by some and horribly received by others. Some people claimed that it was one of the
worst songs written. Yet, some people really liked it. For example, some school teachers thought
that it was an amazing song for teaching students about different things happening during that
time period since it covers so many events (Fetters). I personally think that it makes a very
persuasive case in combating arguments that his generation was lazy or had it easy because Joel
cites numerous cases that people would be hard pressed to argue were inconsequential. However,
Joel doesn t expressly state what people of his generation were doing to combat evil in the world,
which was also part of his argument. Instead, people have to do research for themselves and come
up with their own conclusion, thus weakening his

Earnings And Profit Essay
Earnings and profit are related, but not exactly the same. They are different in the terms of how
they are calculated. Earnings and profit calculations are often used to determine the financial health
of a business. They are typically used in reporting business income to tax authorities as well. New
business owners usually make mistakes, they want to see the large number of sales on financial
statements, if the number of sales is high they think they operate good, but they should actually
look at how much they are profiting.
Earnings are the single most studied number in a company s financial statement because they show
a company s profitability. Earnings are the income a business earns, which can be calculated after
subtracting the costs of making, purchasing, or providing the items or services it ... Show more

Any profit that is gained goes to the business s owners, who may or may not decide to spend it on
the business. A company may have an impressive amount of earnings but have very little profit. It
is calculated: Profit = Total Revenue Total Expenses
Profit before tax (PBT) is a profitability measure that looks at a company s profits before the
company has to pay corporate income tax. This measure deducts all expenses from revenue
including interest expenses and operating expenses, but it leaves out the payment of tax. Profit
before tax provides investment analysts with useful information for evaluating a company s
operating performance without tax implications. PBT exists because tax expense is constantly
changing and taking it out helps to give an investor a good idea of changes in a company s profits
or earnings from year to year.
For example, the income statement of company XYZ looks like:

Vector Aeromotive Corporation Summary
Mayela Everts Accounting 6302 Vector Aeromotive Corporation Vector sold exotic sports cars
and was the only US based manufacturer. Their major competition, Ferrari and Lamborghini,
took up 75% of the market share. Gerry s idea was to make a car based off of aerospace technology.
They created the V8 twin turbo which was highly advanced and priced. After selling a total of
13 cars, 45 people were employed. Vector built two other models to increase sell volume and
decrease losses. Vector s Board of Directors composed of 3 individuals, Berry with a background
in real estate; John, a financial consultant, and Vector s CFO; and Gerry, the president of Vector.
Berry and John grew to disagree with Gerry more often; therefore, Gerry... Show more content on

Djody sent $220,000 to Vector according to this agreement. Then Gerry revoked the deal by
claiming he was under the impression that his option would only be used as collateral for the
loan and not transferred. Djodi conducted business based on trust and Gerry broke this trust for
Vector. He would no longer invest in the company, but keep Dorpi on the board to protect his
previous investments. In 1992 the company s taxes were not paid in time which caused some
debate about disclosures in the 10 K. Also, after hosting a babysitter it was imminent that Gerry
was furnishing his own home with company expenses. They decided to call a meeting where
Gerry was going to be formally asked to resign on March 22, 1993. If he declined he would be
fired by the board. When the day of the meeting arrived Gerry Wiegert locked himself inside
Vector headquarters. The Board of Directors consisted primarily of Gerry Wiegert, John Pope,
and Barry Rosengrant. Gerry was the President, so it was typical for him to be a part of the
board. John Pope was a financial consultant; therefore, he was adequate to be the financially
literate person on the board. Barry was in real estate, but he was a consultant of Vector Car
which gave him some knowledge of the company. Dan Harnett and George Fencl were also a
part of the board for some point of time; they also had adequate knowledge to be capable additions
to the board with their knowledge of law and

Immigration Issues in the News
H. R. 2604 (2012): Help Separated Families Act of 2013 is a Federal bill introduced by
Representative Lucille Roybal Allard, a Democrat in California s 40th District. After the
introduction of this Federal bill it was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means: 113th
Congress, 2013 2015. The bill, (H. R. 2604) was introduced to the Senate floor as of Jun 28, 2013
(GovTrack.us, 2013). This bill would ensure that immigrationstatus alone does not disqualify a
relative from being a placement for a child whose parent (s) has been deported.
Understanding the Problem Immigration issues have been in the news; and have been debated by
politicians. Political parties over the years have been vocal in voicing their concerns about
American immigration (Russit, 2013). The problem is if you are an undocumented immigrant and
you are stopped by an arresting agency you will be detained and deported according to the current
immigration policy (Russit, 2013). Russit (2013) explains the judicial branch of our Supreme Court
has ruled over this issue for over four decades. They have determined the federal government has
the exclusive power of regulating immigration. These powers are based on the Commerce Clause,
Naturalization Clause, Migration and Importation Clause and the War Power Clause of Article I of
the US Constitution. The courts have ruled that any state or local law that attempts to regulate
immigration is in violation of the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution and is

Who Is Roland Barthes Opium Fragrance
A 1992 commercial for Yves Saint Laurent s Opium fragrance, directed by David Lynch, takes
the pleasurable sensual experience of perfume to faraway places via mythologized drug analogy
and orientalist fantasy. The commercial follows a female model s ritualistic use of Opium
perfume. She walks upstairs in an elegant modern home, passes a grand piano, sits on a divan,
and undoes the top of a bottle of Opium. Her eyes close, her deep breaths rise over the
soundtrack, and it is clear that the fragrance has intoxicated her as if it were literally the substance
of its namesake. By the logic of Roland Barthes semiotic theories and his book Mythologies, this
perfumead s signifiers of drug use and the East create an environment of sensual exoticism that
glazes over the more complex realities of such signified... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This commercial relies on a strategy of myth making that Barthes calls exoticism, in which the
established order constructs the other as an object or spectacle (Barthes 266). The mythology of
Orientalism, an exoticism with a specific East Asian focus, reduces Chinese history and culture
into aesthetic qualities that can be used to incite feelings of exotic escape in Western consumers.
Barthes theories of mythology are explained through semiotics, which understands signifiers as
images that stand in for other concepts, and the signified as what is replaced by signifier images.
The myths created out of relationships between signifier may seem so natural and depoliticized to
their readers that they go unnoticed. A number of signifiers in the commercial stand in for a
general signified essence of the East . At the beginning and end of the commercial, a folding fan
rolls across the screen. At the end, white orchids float into the left half of the image, as Opium s
red and gold bottle dissolves into the right. The fan, the white orchids, and the design of the Opium
bottle are all signifiers of warm, sensual, feminine qualities with a specific Eastern bent. At

Military and law enforcement sources estimate that 72 were killed and more than 200 injured before government forces were compelled to withdraw. Speaking after the clash, Massachusetts Governor Thomas Gage declared that the extremist faction, which was made up of local citizens, has links to the radical right wing tax protest movement. This decision followed a meeting in early this month between government and military leaders at which the governor authorized the forcible confiscation of illegal arms. One government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, pointed out that none of these people would have been killed had the extremists obeyed the law and turned over their weapons voluntarily. Government troops initially succeeded in confiscating a large supply of outlawed weapons and ammunition. However, troops attempting to seize arms and ammunition in Lexington met with resistance from heavily armed extremists who had been tipped off regarding the government s plans. During a tense standoff in the Lexington town park, National Guard Colonel Francis Smith, commander of the government operation, ordered the armed group to surrender and return to their homes. It utilizes an ordinal scale to measure how well the examinee fit the constructs being measured. Each construct is split into two groups of items. One type of item (prototype) represents features that are unique to a disorder, and the other type of item (peripheral) represents features that may be similar to different construct item (Strack, Millon, 2007). This accounts for why there is so much crossover between constructs. The prototypal items are weighted two and the peripheral items are only weighted one. The item weighting system of the MCMI III was changed to a two point system in comparison to the three point systems used in previous versions (Craig Bivens, 1998). The 24 scales are broken down into four sections designed to distinguish between the personality characteristics (Axis II) and the disorder displayed (Axis I) (Millon et al., 1994). Examples of skills that fall within the phonological side are letter sound knowledge and phoneme awareness (Hulme et al. 2012). In discussing phonemes, they can be defined as a unit of sound to distinguish units of meaning or put more simply, the different noises that when put together create words (Fox and Routh 1980). This validity has obvious importance in personnel selection, recruitment and development. Whenever possible, the statistical evaluation of the relationship between selection measures and valued business outcomes is desirable. This type of validation is known as criterion related validation and it can provide concrete evidence of the accuracy of a test for predicting job performance. Criterion validation involves a statistical study that provides hard evidence of the relationship between scores on pre employment assessments and valued business outcomes related to job performance. The statistical evidence resulting from this process provides a clear understanding of the ROI provided by the testing process and thus helps document the value provided. Criterion related validation also provides support for the legal defensibility of an assessment because it clarifies the assessment s accuracy as a decision making tool. While criterion related validation may seem mysterious, it has much in common with two more well known concepts that are used to help find value within business processes: six sigma and business intelligence. Both of these methods require that data be examined in order to help clarify relations between various process components. Bradley s theory of Shakespeare The substance of Shakespeare s tragedy solely points out to the power of death. In this five act play, the death of important characters suffices for the cruel reality of life. However, a completely realm is required in order to observe Shakespeare s version of tragedy. Shakespeare has used tragedy to explain on the major paradoxes of life. It can be called a Paradox of disappointment. Defeat, unfulfilled desired, failed hopes and then finally death are some of the faces of tragedies faced by Human. These are realities of life and cannot be avoided. Although they form the foundation of our lives but are still considered as intruders to our ideal version of life. This is the reason why when we are confronted by tragic literature in this particular paradox, we become fascinated. Bradley emphasizes on viewing the literary techniques used not as the basic constituents but as the expression of tragedy. Some of the major characters in Shakespeare s renowned tragedies are Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, and Macbeth. Most of these characters are individual sufferers as in reality; a single man faces the paradoxes of life. They are more compact and less explicit than finite clauses. They are not marked for tense and modality, and they frequently lack an explicit subject and subordinator. (17): I don t know what to write about. 3.1.1 Types of non finite clauses 1 Bare infinitive Bare infinitive is the base form of the verb without to, this form of nonfinite clause has no tense. The bare infinitive in general is very limited because it mostly occurs after verbs of causation, perception and modal auxiliary. (18): I saw Jim leave. (See is a verb of perception) (19): I can tell the truth. (Telling the truth is what occurs after modal auxiliary. Bare infinitive in this case, functions as the complement of a verb, that is , it adds more information to make the main verb understandable. Promiscuity In Sula Steve Maraboli wrote, Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over, instead of craving control over what you don t. While perceptions towards female sexuality have become more and more liberal over time, they still tend towards an expediently bigoted dynamic in which women are only encouraged to be sexual to an extent. The idea of women being self confident, even single minded, in cultivating rousing sex lives is still often looked upon as immoral and impure. In Toni Morrisson s novel Sula, not only is female sexuality lopsidedly categorized, it is seen as worthy for castigation. Missing from the main conceptualization is the blunt acknowledgement that female promiscuity can be empowering. A woman can derive power from her sexuality. By realizing what she s been gifted with, she can gain her freedom. Sexual empowerment for her involves recognition of her sexual being, embracing that power, and exhibiting it confidently without fear of disrepute. By embracing the body she is born into, understanding the power it wields, and displaying total command in making choices regarding her body, she holds the power to not be castigated for craving and loving sex. Neither is she belittled with abusive words for not keeping her body as a holy shrine, allowing only one man entry. • 46. Start The Fire Throughout history music has been used as a method of communication and protest. This trend spiked particularly during the Vietnam War in the 1960s and is shown throughout the decades with different groups or genres to continue in increasing popularity throughout the decades (Candaele). One particular song that portrays this is We Didn t Start the Fire, written and sung by Billy Joel. We Didn t Start the Fire exemplifies a popular song taking a stance against contemporary social issues in 1960s 1980s America, particularly involvement in the Cold War. In order to understand why We Didn t Start the Fire addressed the issues of the Cold War and other controversies surrounding that time, one needs to know of the historical background of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The lyrical message of the song is very in your face. There s no question as to what the singer is referencing, nor his stance on the issue. The song structure (reiterating the chorus after listing certain people, events, etc.) helps reiterate his message by singing the chorus stating his opinion after bringing up controversial issues in an ABAB form. Additionally, Joel uses metaphors such as fire burning to represent contention among mankind to illustrate his message. The rhythmic feel also contributes to the pleasing sound of the recording, thus showing, along with the previously mentioned musical aspects, the detail put into creating We Didn t Start the Fire in an endeavor to help the listener be receptive to the message. The level of success of these methods are shown in receptivity of the song following its release. This song was very well received by some and horribly received by others. Some people claimed that it was one of the worst songs written. Yet, some people really liked it. For example, some school teachers thought that it was an amazing song for teaching students about different things happening during that time period since it covers so many events (Fetters). I personally think that it makes a very persuasive case in combating arguments that his generation was lazy or had it easy because Joel cites numerous cases that people would be hard pressed to argue were inconsequential. However, Joel doesn t expressly state what people of his generation were doing to combat evil in the world, which was also part of his argument. Instead, people have to do research for themselves and come up with their own conclusion, thus weakening his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New business owners usually make mistakes, they want to see the large number of sales on financial statements, if the number of sales is high they think they operate good, but they should actually look at how much they are profiting. Any profit that is gained goes to the business s owners, who may or may not decide to spend it on the business. A company may have an impressive amount of earnings but have very little profit. It is calculated: Profit = Total Revenue Total Expenses Profit before tax (PBT) is a profitability measure that looks at a company s profits before the company has to pay corporate income tax. This measure deducts all expenses from revenue including interest expenses and operating expenses, but it leaves out the payment of tax. Profit before tax provides investment analysts with useful information for evaluating a company s operating performance without tax implications. PBT exists because tax expense is constantly changing and taking it out helps to give an investor a good idea of changes in a company s profits or earnings from year to year. Then Gerry revoked the deal by claiming he was under the impression that his option would only be used as collateral for the loan and not transferred. Djodi conducted business based on trust and Gerry broke this trust for Vector. He would no longer invest in the company, but keep Dorpi on the board to protect his previous investments. In 1992 the company s taxes were not paid in time which caused some debate about disclosures in the 10 K. Also, after hosting a babysitter it was imminent that Gerry was furnishing his own home with company expenses. They decided to call a meeting where Gerry was going to be formally asked to resign on March 22, 1993. If he declined he would be fired by the board. When the day of the meeting arrived Gerry Wiegert locked himself inside Vector headquarters. The Board of Directors consisted primarily of Gerry Wiegert, John Pope, and Barry Rosengrant. R. 2604 (2012): Help Separated Families Act of 2013 is a Federal bill introduced by Representative Lucille Roybal Allard, a Democrat in California s 40th District. After the introduction of this Federal bill it was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means: 113th Congress, 2013 2015. The bill, (H. R. 2604) was introduced to the Senate floor as of Jun 28, 2013 (GovTrack.us, 2013). This bill would ensure that immigrationstatus alone does not disqualify a relative from being a placement for a child whose parent (s) has been deported. Understanding the Problem Immigration issues have been in the news; and have been debated by politicians. Political parties over the years have been vocal in voicing their concerns about American immigration (Russit, 2013). The problem is if you are an undocumented immigrant and you are stopped by an arresting agency you will be detained and deported according to the current immigration policy (Russit, 2013). Russit (2013) explains the judicial branch of our Supreme Court has ruled over this issue for over four decades. They have determined the federal government has the exclusive power of regulating immigration. These powers are based on the Commerce Clause, Naturalization Clause, Migration and Importation Clause and the War Power Clause of Article I of the US Constitution. The courts have ruled that any state or local law that attempts to regulate immigration is in violation of the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Who Is Roland Barthes Opium Fragrance A 1992 commercial for Yves Saint Laurent s Opium fragrance, directed by David Lynch, takes the pleasurable sensual experience of perfume to faraway places via mythologized drug analogy and orientalist fantasy. The commercial follows a female model s ritualistic use of Opium perfume. She walks upstairs in an elegant modern home, passes a grand piano, sits on a divan, and undoes the top of a bottle of Opium. Her eyes close, her deep breaths rise over the soundtrack, and it is clear that the fragrance has intoxicated her as if it were literally the substance of its namesake. By the logic of Roland Barthes semiotic theories and his book Mythologies, this perfumead s signifiers of drug use and the East create an environment of sensual exoticism that glazes over the more complex realities of such signified... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This commercial relies on a strategy of myth making that Barthes calls exoticism, in which the established order constructs the other as an object or spectacle (Barthes 266). The mythology of Orientalism, an exoticism with a specific East Asian focus, reduces Chinese history and culture into aesthetic qualities that can be used to incite feelings of exotic escape in Western consumers. Barthes theories of mythology are explained through semiotics, which understands signifiers as images that stand in for other concepts, and the signified as what is replaced by signifier images. The myths created out of relationships between signifier may seem so natural and depoliticized to their readers that they go unnoticed. A number of signifiers in the commercial stand in for a general signified essence of the East . At the beginning and end of the commercial, a folding fan rolls across the screen. At the end, white orchids float into the left half of the image, as Opium s red and gold bottle dissolves into the right. The fan, the white orchids, and the design of the Opium bottle are all signifiers of warm, sensual, feminine qualities with a specific Eastern bent. At ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
