Isolation In Louis Perez s The History Of Japan
Japanese technology and culture is everywhere today; in my room alone I own a Nintendo 3ds, a
Nintendo GameCube, PS3, a Toshiba laptop and nine box sets of Japanese anime, with a further three
series downloaded on my iPod. That isn t even including the book and manga series I own (some in
the original Japanese, some translated into English.) Popular TV shows like Avatar: The Last
Airbender now mimic Japanese style of cartoons, while we have outright adopted other shows as our
own, such as Yu Gi Oh and Dragon Ball Z. In short, Japanese culture is everywhere, especially if you
know where to look for it. It s everywhere; foreign culture is all around us. It is almost insane to
believe that just a little less than two hundred years ago, the Japanese ... Show more content on

In fact, not only did they survive, but became a major power in the world, as proven by the Russo
Japanese war, in which the Japanese trounced the Russians; and even today, they remain an major
power, with a major hand in trade. Personally, I am amazed at how quickly Japan managed
modernization; what took Europeans hundreds of years to achieve, they managed to do so in decades.
Yes, the Europeans might have forced, the Japanese to modernize much sooner they otherwise might
have, but in truth, I am glad. People own a lot of technology from Japan, a country that wouldn t have
been able to compete with the West two hundred fifty years ago. Now, we regularly buy items from
them like smartphones, and gaming consoles, cars; some of the most cutting edge technology is from
Japan. It s easy to image that if Americans were to cut off ties to Japan today, that they might outstrip

An Individual Detailed Analysis on the Style, Editing...
An individual detailed analysis on the style, editing techniques Mise en scene and cinematography in
the film Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind . Michael Gondry s Eternal sunshine of the spotless
mind (2004) is not your typical Hollywood rom com. Its cinematic style is very original and by far out
of the ordinary for its genre. The use of techniques and the way the film is produced is the reason why
it is so memorable. The non linear narrative is based around a middle aged guy who falls in love with
a woman, who, after a while into their relationship decides to erase every single memory and feeling
towards him. The story is told in flashbacks that slowly reveal the time and space the couple spent
together and all the events that made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are plenty of examples of continuity editing in Eternal sunshine, both temporal and spatial are
used. Discontinuity is used throughout the memory erasing scenes with the deliberate use of ellipsis as
Joel relives his memories in flashbacks. Some of the shots from Joel s memories are put together in a
montage edit; this is another example of discontinuity editing. There are multiple uses of crosscutting
in the film, which is when there are a series of shots that keep cutting back and forth from one shot to
another shot, this occurs in a lot of the flashback scenes. Also there are several jump cuts, which
brakes the continuity edit as in order to achieve a smooth and non noticeable cut from one shot to
another the camera must move 30 degrees or more to attain the continuity in the movement of shots.
But a jump cut is deliberately shot without using the 30 degree rule. Therefore when you put the shots
together they make a jump affect and it brakes up the continuity of the edit. In this case, Gondry
intentionally directed the crosscutting and jump cuts in order to express Joel s reactions to the
procedure. At the beginning of the film the editing picks up a rhythm and runs smoothly, giving a
perfect example of continuity editing, but as the film goes on it begins to switch between continuity
and discontinuity as the edit balances

Sophie Germain s Life And Accomplishments
Sophie Germain Sophie was born in Paris on April 1, 1776, when the American Revolution began.
Later the French Revolution would force her childhood indoors from all of the dangers outside. She
was born to Ambroise Francois and Marie Germain. She was born into a middle class family that later
had money and her father became a director of a bank. As soon as she started to become recognized as
a female mathematician she passed away. She died on June 27, 1831 from breast cancer. While she
was sick she continued her studies. After her death, her work was recognized by many. Sophie s full
name is Marie Sophie Germain. She went by Sophie due to how many Marie s were around. She

She worked hard and never gave up on her theories. The only awards Sophie received were: the
contest she entered about Archimedes, an honorary degree six years after her death, to be able to be

at the Institut de France. Many of Sophie s achievements were recognized after she died. Sophie
Germain studied psychology and philosophy. Sophie s works were in a few areas: she studied the
number theory, Sophie prime numbers, and the theory of elasticity. She would study other areas to
gain more knowledge of these subjects. She did not have one study; she did multiple studies to prove
theories and work of others. Sophie Germain fell in love with math around the age of thirteen. She
began to study math but was interrupted many times. Her parents did not approve of her studies

Harriet Jacobs
Although all the slave narratives are similar in some respects; Harriet Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a
Slave Girl was comparatively different from Olaudah Equiano s and Venture Smith s slave narratives.
The major contrasts start in the beginning; Jacobs was born into slavery, whereas Equiano and Smith
were native Africans who were captured and brought to America. By being born into slavery I believe
that she had a different mentality of what being a slave was, unlike the other two authors who had to
learn the language and had to adapt to a completely different environment. Although all of them had
different life experiences, I believe that what makes Jacobs story stand out is that is was told from the
perspective of a woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her plight in acquiring freedom is parallel to that of Anne Frank; she hid in the crawl space for seven
years from 1835 to 1842; sewing reading the Bible, and keeping watch over her most prized
possessions, her children. I believe that living there was both a blessing and a curse; she was able to
see her children grow up but she could never talk to them or hold them. She was safe but in a way she
was in constant danger of being found. She was close to freedom but she had to stay in a cramped
space for seven years. What she had to endure made her seem more relatable to then the other slave
narratives that I read. She was determined to be free and for both her children to be free and this was
the only way she knew of how to accomplish her dream.
After Jacobs ran away from Mr. Flint, Dr. Flint never gave up looking for Harriet. This was another
difference in this narrative; the owner had somewhat of an obsession with his former slave. He did
everything in his power to find her, from putting out wanted ads offering money for her return, writing
and visiting New York where he thought she was hiding, and constantly questioning her family on her
whereabouts. It was as though he couldn t deal with the fact that he didn t have control over her
anymore. Maybe it was because she didn t give into his sexual advances or maybe it was just because
a slave had outsmarted him, but his determination to enslave Jacobs again was peculiar.
Another way Incidents in the Life of

The Act Of Texas And The Sunset Advisory Commission ( Sac )
In 2013, a proposal was written by a branch of the Texas state government called the Sunset Advisory
Commission (SAC). This proposal would, if made into law, deregulate 14,568 respiratory therapists
(RTs) currently employed in Texas (Gaebler 6). This would mean that RTs along with 18 other
programs would not have to hold a state license to practice their craft (Sunset 52). Deregulation may
sound like a good idea on paper, however in practice, it is anything but. The potential negative
outcomes in the form of patient harm and possible death would far outweigh any benefit. Deregulation
of respiratory therapists in Texas began in the government as a proposal, was fought against by those
who say the potential danger in the idea, then ended back in the government with a compromise that
was written into law. In May of 2014, the SAC released a report. This report states that the
commission felt that RTs along with several other professions should no longer be regulated by an
agency of the government called the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) (52). One of the
many responsibilities of the DSHS is providing state licensure to individuals of various job disciplines
which both can and do have an impact on public health (43). The SAC brings up a few key points in
the report:
First, the SAC argues that, the DSHS is under staffed and underfunded for the amount of tasks it must
manage (4). The Sunset Advisory Commission s goal in the 2014 report is to reduce operation costs

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Deviance
Deviance is generally a phenomenon of deviating from the existing social norms. It basically depends
on the society and the culture or group they belong to and not on the act that they perform. Therefore,
it is relative and not person or individual specific. According to sociologists, a specific act to which
people do not abide by and react in an opposite manner is referred to as a deviant act. Thus, it can be
said that all individuals who do not obey the rules and regulations are deviants. According to a
sociologist, Erving Goffman, a person s status is defined by one specific quality or attribute which
becomes his master status and all other characteristics of the person are ignored. This one quality that
becomes his master status is referred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to achieve certain goals, people sometimes tend to be deviants because access to easier means
is all it takes to decide for a person to become a deviant or not. According to Emile Durkheim,
deviance brings in social order and unity. Hence, deviance is functional. It helps decide and clear the
boundaries of a society and norms as to how people should think and act. One major advantage of
deviance is that it helps in bringing a chance in the society which can be a positive one. if majority of
the people follow the same deviant act, it becomes a permanent change with new behaviors and
conduct in a society. As explained by the Strain theory which was given by Robert Merton, there are
cases when the goal of the individuals is a moral and cultural goal but the means to achieve the
specific goal is immoral or is not legitimate. Basically there is a strain that people experience when
they wish to achieve a certain goal which can only be accomplished by unfair means. The team for
this kind of a strain used by Merton is anomie which was coined by Durkheim. To achieve a certain
cultural goal, there are five kinds of reactions. One is by directly following all the rules and
regulations and achieving the goals. The rest of them are the deviant means including innovative
ideas, ritualism which means sacrificing the goals in order to maintain the proper code of

Churchill Sir Winston Leonard Spencer
Churchill, Sir Winston Leonard Spencer (1874 1965), became one of the greatest statesmen in world

Lady Churchill (1854 1921), an American girl whose maiden name was Jennie Jerome. Lord
Randolph was the third son of the seventh Duke of Marlborough. The first Duke of Marlborough had

Her father, Leonard Jerome, made and lost several fortunes in business.
Young Winston, a chunky lad with a mop of red hair, had an unhappy boyhood. He talked with a
stutter and lisp, and did poorly in his schoolwork. His stubbornness and high spirits annoyed
everyone. In addition, his parents had little time for him.
Winston stood in fear and wonder of his father. Lord Randolph, a leader in the Conservative party,
showed little affection for Winston. Winston s mother charmed everyone with her beauty and wit. As
Lord Randolph s wife, she had many duties. Little time was left for Winston. Churchill later wrote of
his mother: She shone for me like the Evening Star. I loved her dearly but at a distance.
When Winston was 6 years old, his brother, John, was born. The difference in their ages prevented any
real companionship. At the age of 12, Winston entered

Analysis Of Somaliland Announced s Secession From Somalia...
Somaliland announced its secession from Somalia in 1991 and has operated as a more or less
independent country ever since. It has its own president, parliament and constitution. It even boasts a
central bank that prints its own currency, the Somaliland shilling. The peaceful existence of its three
million mostly Muslim, but secular, residents contrasts sharply with the disorder and instability of
Somalia. The world, however, has refused to recognize Somaliland. Reluctant to encourage other
separatist movements, the West remains committed to supporting the embattled Transitional Federal
Government in Somalia, which opposes its separation.
Now let me talk about the Economy in Somaliland even though Somaliland is not totally independent
country and still share a lot with Somalia when it comes to economy. In this paper I will concentrate
four aspects that s makes Somaliland economy weak or low.
Certification
Somaliland government does not have the capacity to participate in certification schemes or to provide
authenticity documentation that would enable businesses to sell goods globally. Firms instead have to
find unconventional, and often costly, workarounds. Although sesame seeds are grown in large
quantities in Somaliland in 2012 the country was the 12th largest producer in the world exporting
them is challenge.
This means that the government of Somaliland loses money, because if the

The Positives of Single Parenting What comes into your mind when you hear about single parenting?
Americans attitudes towards single [parenting] were so negative by negative I mean, nearly seven out
of ten said that single [parents] raising a child without the benefit of a partner was bad for society
(Huntington Post). Many assumptions are made towards single parents looking down on them not
knowing all that they go through. They just have that stereotypical mind that single parents are bad
parents. Thoughts like single parents may abandon their kids, and do not care about them. Single

Which normally causes the parents to split and have the child be under the guidance of one parent..
Although these parents become single parents, they still have the help from the other parent when they
are visiting their child.
Many single parents just never married. They wouldn t want to get involved into a long commitment
with their partner. Although some may know their child s father they are still considered single parents
for raising the child as a single parent. Even as young as 15 years old parents, can be found as single
parents. These parents were way too young and choose to not married the child s father, choose to
bring a child into the world where they would take care of them on their own.
Lastly and not an uncommon way of being a single parent is being a widow. Mothers could died while
giving birth, leaving the father to raise the child on their own. Fathers or mother could have a serious
illness that keeps them from being in a child s life as they grown up. As sad as it may be some child
grow up without a father or mother because they died before they could remember any memories of
them. The other parent is held responsible to take care and raise the child on their own the best they
can.
Single parenting is not an uncommon situation. There are many statistics taken to record the number
of single parenting. According to U.S. census Bureau there are 12 million single parent

Mercury s Orbit
In 265 b.c the first discovery of Mercury was made by Timocharis of Alexandria. Timocharis was a
Greek astronomer and philosopher. However little was known of him, like whether or not he had a
family or where he lived. Mercury was named after the gods messenger, Mercury was the son of
Jupiter and Maia. Jupiter was the god of light and sky, he was the protector of the state and its laws.
Maia was the goddess of spring, she healed the earth and helped it grow.
Mercury has nearly no atmosphere, Mercury does however have an exosphere. An exosphere is a thin
layer of atoms blasted off its surface by solar flares and striking micrometeoroids. Inside of this thin
exosphere there has been no wind erosions of the surface. Seeing as Mercury has ... Show more

One Mercury year is only about 88 days on Earth. A powerful feature of Mercury is its orbit it is one
of the fastest orbiting planets compared the rest in our solar system. Out of all the planets orbits,
Mercury s orbit is the least circular. Mercury s orbit is not circular because Mercury s the closet orbital
distance to the Sun rather than being larger when contrasted with that of the other planets it is wider.
Along with other planets, Mercury s surface experiences a wider range of extreme temperatures than
any other planet in the Solar System, that we know of. It is very simple to explain, Mercury s surface
is much hotter than any other planet, due to the direct heat for part of the day. Conveniently, the
temperatures of other planets remain relatively stable because their atmospheres being virtually the
same. Over time the orbit of Mercury shifts slightly around the Sun, this process is known as
precession. This was a constant problem for astronomers in the late nineteen hundreds and early
twenty hundreds. Many theories were presented to show the difference between the actual and
fictional ideas. One idea even suggested the idea of a unknown planet closer to the Sun than Mercury
had been. The truth was eventually proven when Einstein published his great theory, that there was
another planet before Mercury, but he had no real proof of its existence. As a result of this theory,
Mercury s orbit idea was finally described exactly how it was. Though it had been believed for a long
time that Mercury s spin orbit was not correct, it was discovered in the mid twenty hundreds that it is,
in fact, correct. This idea produced what would soon be a great discovery for a satellite that the planet
does indeed orbit. Mercury s orbit takes the small planet as close as 29 million miles and as far as 43
million miles from the sun. If one

Protectionism in global banana market Good or bad?
The present crisis being faced by the company seems to be a result of protectionism in the global
banana market. Ideally there should be no restriction for free flow of goods and services but this is not
true. There is hardly any field where restrictions are not present in trade as the nation/region imposing
those restrictions wants to protect local economies from tough international competition. Banana
industry is no exception to this general rule. The world is still in a transition phase as regards real
integration of the world trade into an ideal single market. Undoubtedly the protectionism has played a
spoil sport for big players in banana market but at the same time provided much needed support to
developing nations especially ACP region that formed former colonies of Britain and France. The
trade barriers proved successful for the less efficient producers as they got protection against bigger
players. Such a strategy can provide control to smaller entities in growing bigger and providing tough
competition in the market.
Despite the protectionist policies of European region as regards banana trade the US companies and
those from other parts of the world have made good money out of it. The trade has been quite
profitable through all these years and has rather stopped this industry from becoming a home ground
for one or two big players only. The fact that this business needs a

The Court System Of England And Wales
The court system in England and Wales means a thousand years of history and development
throughout different political and social climates. This essay will provide a brief history of this
evolution and evaluation of some advantages and disadvantages of a modern jury system.
According to The Open University (2014, section 10.1), under Anglo Saxon domination all disputes
were resolved in local courts called moots . These courts later developed and became Magistrates
Courts, still keeping their local function. Majority of all criminal cases are heard there, however the
courts can only decide on summary or triable either way offences, referring the most serious files to
the Crown Court.
Crown courts, which superseded the courts of assize and quarter sessions, were established under the
Courts Act 1971 to improve efficiency of the existing criminal justice system. The latter were local
courts of the Queen s Bench Division, which served a number of circuits by assembling juries and
hearing cases not serious enough to go before a High Court judge.
The Norman Conquest made significant changes to the English law by establishing the Curia Regis ,
the court which was ruled by the king and his appointed judges. Some key institutions of Parliament,
such as the common law courts including King s (Queen s) Bench, Common Pleas, Exchequer, and
the Court of Chancery evolved from the Curia Regis . The law became to be more centralised through

pants may not seem so likely today. These trends blow up and die out as quickly as they come, but to
become the kid who fit in you had to follow these trends. What causes these uproars in popularity are
propaganda or campaigns that outline the subject in a positive or negative manner.Lately all across
social media political propaganda has been branding Donald Trump an anti hero, and a degenerate, but
can this propaganda backfire in a way that is good for Donald Trump? Is this free publicity in favor of
him?

More than any other candidate, Trump has understood how deeply rooted these feelings have become
and he has successfully built an entire campaign around them. If Democrats think they will have an
easy time stopping him in the fall, they might want to take a closer look at the characters who have
been attracting the masses in recent years. I feel as though Zelizer s opinion upon the situation is
partially right, but I believe Trump has gained the population s vote, and has sustained loyal members
of his political party, by being a truthful candidate. Unlike other candidate s Trump speaks the cold
hard truth most of the time, whereas other people like Hillary Clinton fluff up the truth not exposing
how critical situations have become in the world. In this case trump is the anti hero and Hillary is the
hero, people don t want to live in a fictionalized world made up of lies promised by the candidate, they
want the real world and action done now, and they know Trump is going to be a dynamic character if

Contributions Of Early English Language
Contributions to Early English Orthography
What influenced English orthography to be what it is today? How did early English writers derive the
spellings of certain words? One possible answer to these questions is addressed by Jerzy Welna in his
article On Early Pseudo Learned Orthographic Forms: A Contribution to the History of English
Spelling and Pronunciation published in Studia Anglica Posnaniensia.
Welna formats his argument as a numbered list where he touches on one spelling pattern adapted into
English, provides proof of this change in text, and then moves on to the next orthographic adaptation.
While Welna does provide solid, detailed evidence from one of his prior papers to support his point,
he does not define the specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is clear that Welna is well versed on this topic not only because of his apparent knowledge, but
because he has also written another article on the subject in the past. While discussing the Middle
English period and when it showed orthographic change, Welna mentions that he s already addressed
one of the points in prior works of his. But he does not stop after mentioning his paper, he goes on to
summarize the conclusion of his last article to provide some context to the reader. Welna specifically
states that his first paper suggested that such influence of Latin had strong sociolinguistic basis since
the change in the sequence ( removed HTML ) affected the pronunciation of vowels... (27). Explicitly
summarizing his past works not only allows him to gain credibility, but it also provides major support
to his argument. It is shown that Welna has done extensive research on the subject at hand, therefore
his knowledge on it is extensive. His summarization of the priorly written paper also aids in
solidifying his claims because, when he mentions the article, he discusses the information it suggests
in detail, therefore only adding to the many other evidences brought together in this paper on a similar
topic.
While Welna does provide solid support for his arguments, he does not always state which specific
point he is trying to prove when presenting pieces of

In the year of 1863, two New York Democrats with the intention of obstructing Abraham Lincoln s bid
for re election coined the term miscegenation . They believed that miscegenation was crucial to a
progressive humanity. The Democrats posed as Republicans and anonymously wrote and published a
seventy two page propaganda pamphlet, advocating for inter racial marriages between the white men
and Negro . The article was entitled Miscegenation: The Theory of the Blending of the Races, Applied
to the American White Man and Negro. During this time, the American Civil War was in action and

In the sectioned of the pamphlet entitled Superiority of mixed races , Brazil was believed to be a
country where the people were miscegenated, to further support the idea of mixing in the United
States. However, the attitudes of race mixing in both countries were significantly different. Brazil has
always been a black and mixed blood populated society, whereas the United States had always been
white blood dominated compared to its black population. This paper will compare the differences of
race mixing in the United States and Brazil after the American Civil War.
First and foremost, it is important to differentiate the perception of black and white race mixing in
both the United States and Brazil. In the United States, the offspring produced between blacks and
whites are considered black. However, the status of a child produced by a white mother is typically
reflected by the status of the mother. Degler revealed that, From this perspective, the most feared
combination in unions between blacks and whites was the one in which the white women married a
black men . This is because during slavery, when a slave owner would impregnate his female slaves,
the children of the slave would also become a slave, but if the mother is white, it is very unlikely that
the child would become a slave. Consequently in Brazil, due to larger acceptance range of race
mixing, the descendants of an African and European relation

Choral Chorus Research Paper
A choral ensemble is an organized group of singers, varying in size, that perform together with an
orchestra or opera company. Choral ensembles have been around for thousands and thousands of
years. They have been around for so long that the ancient Greeks used a chorus in their live Greek
Dramas as a major part of their storytelling. Some may believe that a chorus just needs to have lovely
singers in their group and they are good, but that is not the case. In a choral ensemble, numerous
factors like teamwork, participation, attendance, and discipline can make or break a chorus and can
extremely impact their sound.
Discipline is something that is always needed to control large groups of people. In chorus, it is no

It seems like a waste of time if you learn all the songs and come to all the practices and concerts and
just mouth the words the whole time. It may seem like your voice does not matter in an enormous
choral ensemble, but if every single person in that ensemble were to have a mindset like that, no one
would be singing. Also, every voice does matter and can impact a group. If you re not confident in
your voice and that is why you re not participating, then you are robbing yourself out of good practice
time. The more you practice and sing, even if it is done poorly, the more you will improve. It is also
crucial to participate even when the ensemble is not singing. Answering a question that the teacher
asks shows that you are being attentive and are always listening to your teacher. When an instructor
asks a question that they want the choir to answer and no one answers it shows that no one is paying
attention and it is very disrespectful. Finally, and most importantly, working together as a team is
crucial for a choral ensemble to function properly. When a chorus is in harmony, they make the
best...harmonies. When there is tension and negativity surrounding an ensemble, it is heard through
their music and it does not sound good. Teamwork is the foundation of all choral ensembles. The
better the relationship of the group, the better and more

Plot Summary In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
In today s fast paced world, short stories have now become ubiquitous for readers who try to obtain an
expeditious and enthralling plot in a matter of minutes. Shirley Jackson, a prominent writer who
mastered the art of creating short stories, is best known for her short story The Lottery, in which she
uses subtle name symbolism to enhance characterization and to foreshadow the ironic and ultimately
odious conclusion. However, the Sparknotes analysis of The Lottery fails to account for Jackson s
name symbolism and only provides a rudimentary analysis of the characters in the short story.
Although the Sparknotes analysis on The Lottery adequately provides an analysis of the characters
regarding plot summary, it is unsuccessful in rendering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Graves. Mr. Graves, a postmaster, is cursorily examined by the Sparknotes Character analysis and
details about his name symbolism are wanting. For example, the Sparknotes passage merely states:
The postmaster. Mr. Graves helps Mr. Summers prepare the papers for the lottery and assists him
during the ritual (Sparknotes). Despite that Mr. Graves did aid Mr. Summers in the lottery process, the
Sparknotes analysis fails to consider that Mr. Graves name is a symbolism for the imminent death of
Tessie Hutchinson. Furthermore, because the lottery transpires through Mr. Graves, this indicates that
Mr. Grave influences immensely who the lottery selects and sends to his or her grave. For example,
Jackson writes: Mr. Graves had selected the five slips and put them in the box, and he dropped all the
papers but those onto the ground, where the breeze caught them and lifted them off (Jackson). This
indicates that Mr. Graves has a profound impact over whose grave will be selected, which deepens his
name symbolism. Hence, due to a paucity of analysis by Sparknotes character analysis of Mr. Graves,
the Sparknotes analysis is inadequate in providing a meticulous analysis of Mr.

The Genocide Is The Systematic Extermination Of An Entire...
A genocide is the systematic extermination of an entire social, racial, or political group or nation,
specifically those of a particular ethnicity. While the genocide in Cambodia is not as widely
recognized as that of Rwanda or the Holocaust, millions of Cambodian citizens were murdered
between the years of 1975 and 1979 under the control of the Khmer Rouge. The government
depopulated cities and forcibly relocated citizens to collective farms known as Killing Fields because
of the unspeakable amount of deaths of all ages that occurred there. Approximately 14,000 lives were
taken in these fields due to the stringent rules placed upon the citizens. The Khmer Rouge advocated
for social equality and transformed Cambodia into a pre industrialized nation centered around
agriculture. The loss of millions of lives led to significant demographic changes, ranging from an
increase in the amount of elderly, homeless citizens, and to a decrease in ethnic diversity across the
nation. The dictatorship simultaneously lessened the culture and identity of coming generations due to
the execution of artists and musicians who brought forth important aspects of tradition. The
destruction of infrastructure also contributed to the limitations of postwar Cambodia. In summary, The
Khmer Rouge carried out a genocide that strongly influenced the demographics, culture, and
infrastructure of Cambodian society.
Due to the murder of an entire generation and specific ethnic minorities, Cambodia

A Long Period Of Learning And Teaching Guitar Essay
Many people who pick up the guitar as a hobby, quickly become discouraged. If you are one of these
people, please don t feel bad at all. I personally took a few months before I began to even get the
majority of the simplest concepts. After a long period of learning and teaching guitar, I ve boiled down
several techniques to easily and quickly pick it up. Let s get started! First, make a log of everything
you do in practice. This one sounds kind of goofy, but, trust me, it s monumental in your progress.
Steve Vai noted in several interviews, that everything he practiced in guitar, he wrote down. Not only
did he write down what he practiced, but how he practiced it, when he practiced it, and why he
practiced it. Do this, and see what kinds of patterns you are developing. Second, if you ve got a weak
area in your practice, write it down, then practice it! Write down in your log, I m weak in
scales/chords/finger speed/etc, and will practice it for 30 45 minutes. Do this. I did it, and it helped me
more than doing anything else. Now, is just writing down what you re weak in and what you need to
do going to change it? No, not at all. You have to make the COMMITMENT to practice it, if you want
to get better at it. This sounds like common sense, but the majority of people do not make the
commitment to practice something they re not good at for an extended period of time, and opt instead
to use several excuses, such as: I m just not good at it. It s boring. I d

A Research Project On Project Management
Project Management project methodology is an entirely characterized blend of consistently related
practices, strategies and procedures that decide how best to arrange, create, control and convey an
undertaking all through the constant execution process until effective consummation and end. It is a
scientifically proven, methodical and restrained way to deal with project design, execution and
fulfillment. Agile methodology is for a task that needs great deftness in necessities. The key
components of Agile are its short termed conveyance cycles (sprints), Agile necessities, dynamic
group society, less prohibitive task control and concentrate on real time communication. Iterative
methodology is a method for separating the product improvement of a substantial application into
little chunks. In iterative improvement, feature code is composed, created and tested in many different
cycles. With every cycle, extra components can be planned, created and tested until there is a
completely practical programming application prepared to be sent to clients. Waterfall methodology is
the one that is the most utilized over all businesses, and it is exceptionally basic in programming
advancement and development. There are numerous variants of the waterfall technique, yet the
original one included these high level stages: Requirements specification, Design, Construction (AKA
or coding), Integration, Testing and debugging (AKA Validation), Installation, and Maintenance. Agile

The Hunger Games I chose to the modern mythology known as The Hunger Games a novel written by
Suzanne Collins and later adapted into a feature film. The novel was actually part of a trilogy The
Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. The story begins by introducing you to our main
character Katniss Everdeen who lives in a world run by the Capitol where President Snow resides and
has enforced a form of martial law on all 13 districts. Every year the Capitol hosts their annual Hunger
Games which is a form of entertainment for the Capitol. Out of every district two tributes, one boy
and one girl will be picked to participate in the Hunger Games which is a battle to the death.
Whichever tribute manages to survive till the end will be rewarded by getting to stay in the capitol and
their district will be given more food and supplies. The reason Katniss becomes a part of the games is
because her little sister prim is chosen during the reaping to be the tribute so Katniss hearing her
sisters name volunteers as tribute to save her sisters life but she tries to win the games for her district
and to provide for them. The only problem is she finds it hard to murder the other tributes because
they are all so young and she doesn t see why she must kill them for the Capitols entertainment.

Characterization Of Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Characterization is considered to be an element of literature. Analyzing characterization is the key to
finding a fictional story s theme, and it is made known through direct and indirect characterization.
Direct characterization tells the personality or traits of the character, while indirect presents the
character by their actions. Alice Walker s Everyday Use is a short story that reveals its theme through
characterization and used by exposing the characters values, heritage, and insecurities. The literary
sub¬genre of Everyday Use is realistic fiction. This story focuses its writing and plot around the
values of a rural family. Walker story is about two sisters and a mother who live in a rural section of
Georgia. The oldest daughter left and pursued a college career and after a while she decides visit her
mother. At the end of her visit she intends to leave with some of the family heirlooms two quilts. The
mother finds out her daughter only wants the quilts as a pretense of displaying heritage. Alice Walker
story exposes the theme of heritage. Throughout the story, Walker uses indirect characterization to
describe Dee, and direct characterization to describe Maggie and Mama, in order to reveal the
different ways that people embrace their heritage. The indirect characterization of Dee shows how she
embraces her heritage superficially. While Dee is shown to be spoiled and selfish, throughout the story
her indirect characterization is shown through her own

Discussion Of Inclusion Research
Results and Discussion
This research explored the perception of teachers in relation to the concept of inclusion. The finding
revealed a range of issues that illustrate how the concept of inclusion has been interpreted by teachers.
Determining the concept of inclusion and its benefits
In this study, inclusion was not solely about the inclusion of a single child or children with disabilities
or SEN. Rather it was built on the belief that all should benefit from access to the same educational
experience. An experience as this teacher says should enrich their lives,
Inclusion is giving everyone, regardless of ability/disability, gender, background, religion, culture,

One way of defining the differences between inclusion and integration is for inclusion to happen the
environment changes to fit the child s needs while integration is the child has to change to fit into the
environment. Unfortunately, this again does not translate well into practice. A teacher referred to an
autistic pupil who was reluctant to complete his work unless the subject was of interest to them. The
teacher said they had written this in the pupil s school report home. Furthermore, a teacher commented
on a pupil who always took his jumper off without permission (school policy is to ask teachers
permission to remove jumper) and no matter how often she told him or punished him he would state
that he was hot and he had to take his jumper off. Further questioning revealed the pupil was autistic.
The problem for teachers appears to be if one pupil is not conforming to the norms and rules the other
pupils will not conform and follow the rules. The teachers expressed the feeling of walking a tightrope
trying to balance between accommodating the needs of the SEN pupil with keeping law and order
with the rest of the class. One concern raised was that if the other pupils witnessed the SEN pupil not
conforming then this might single them out to the rest as being different and this might hinder the
social dynamic of the

  • 2. Isolation In Louis Perez s The History Of Japan Japanese technology and culture is everywhere today; in my room alone I own a Nintendo 3ds, a Nintendo GameCube, PS3, a Toshiba laptop and nine box sets of Japanese anime, with a further three series downloaded on my iPod. That isn t even including the book and manga series I own (some in the original Japanese, some translated into English.) Popular TV shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender now mimic Japanese style of cartoons, while we have outright adopted other shows as our own, such as Yu Gi Oh and Dragon Ball Z. In short, Japanese culture is everywhere, especially if you know where to look for it. It s everywhere; foreign culture is all around us. It is almost insane to believe that just a little less than two hundred years ago, the Japanese ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, not only did they survive, but became a major power in the world, as proven by the Russo Japanese war, in which the Japanese trounced the Russians; and even today, they remain an major power, with a major hand in trade. Personally, I am amazed at how quickly Japan managed modernization; what took Europeans hundreds of years to achieve, they managed to do so in decades. Yes, the Europeans might have forced, the Japanese to modernize much sooner they otherwise might have, but in truth, I am glad. People own a lot of technology from Japan, a country that wouldn t have been able to compete with the West two hundred fifty years ago. Now, we regularly buy items from them like smartphones, and gaming consoles, cars; some of the most cutting edge technology is from Japan. It s easy to image that if Americans were to cut off ties to Japan today, that they might outstrip us technologically in a few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. An Individual Detailed Analysis on the Style, Editing... An individual detailed analysis on the style, editing techniques Mise en scene and cinematography in the film Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind . Michael Gondry s Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind (2004) is not your typical Hollywood rom com. Its cinematic style is very original and by far out of the ordinary for its genre. The use of techniques and the way the film is produced is the reason why it is so memorable. The non linear narrative is based around a middle aged guy who falls in love with a woman, who, after a while into their relationship decides to erase every single memory and feeling towards him. The story is told in flashbacks that slowly reveal the time and space the couple spent together and all the events that made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are plenty of examples of continuity editing in Eternal sunshine, both temporal and spatial are used. Discontinuity is used throughout the memory erasing scenes with the deliberate use of ellipsis as Joel relives his memories in flashbacks. Some of the shots from Joel s memories are put together in a montage edit; this is another example of discontinuity editing. There are multiple uses of crosscutting in the film, which is when there are a series of shots that keep cutting back and forth from one shot to another shot, this occurs in a lot of the flashback scenes. Also there are several jump cuts, which brakes the continuity edit as in order to achieve a smooth and non noticeable cut from one shot to another the camera must move 30 degrees or more to attain the continuity in the movement of shots. But a jump cut is deliberately shot without using the 30 degree rule. Therefore when you put the shots together they make a jump affect and it brakes up the continuity of the edit. In this case, Gondry intentionally directed the crosscutting and jump cuts in order to express Joel s reactions to the procedure. At the beginning of the film the editing picks up a rhythm and runs smoothly, giving a perfect example of continuity editing, but as the film goes on it begins to switch between continuity and discontinuity as the edit balances ... • 4. Sophie Germain s Life And Accomplishments Sophie Germain Sophie was born in Paris on April 1, 1776, when the American Revolution began. Later the French Revolution would force her childhood indoors from all of the dangers outside. She was born to Ambroise Francois and Marie Germain. She was born into a middle class family that later had money and her father became a director of a bank. As soon as she started to become recognized as a female mathematician she passed away. She died on June 27, 1831 from breast cancer. While she was sick she continued her studies. After her death, her work was recognized by many. Sophie s full name is Marie Sophie Germain. She went by Sophie due to how many Marie s were around. She would write many of her works using an alias M. LeBlanc. She used this name to disguise her works so they could ... The only awards Sophie received were: the contest she entered about Archimedes, an honorary degree six years after her death, to be able to be the first women to attend Academie des Sciences meetings, and first woman invited to attend sessions at the Institut de France. Many of Sophie s achievements were recognized after she died. Sophie Germain studied psychology and philosophy. Sophie s works were in a few areas: she studied the number theory, Sophie prime numbers, and the theory of elasticity. She would study other areas to gain more knowledge of these subjects. She did not have one study; she did multiple studies to prove theories and work of others. Sophie Germain fell in love with math around the age of thirteen. • 5. Harriet Jacobs Although all the slave narratives are similar in some respects; Harriet Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl was comparatively different from Olaudah Equiano s and Venture Smith s slave narratives. The major contrasts start in the beginning; Jacobs was born into slavery, whereas Equiano and Smith were native Africans who were captured and brought to America. By being born into slavery I believe that she had a different mentality of what being a slave was, unlike the other two authors who had to learn the language and had to adapt to a completely different environment. Although all of them had different life experiences, I believe that what makes Jacobs story stand out is that is was told from the perspective of a woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her plight in acquiring freedom is parallel to that of Anne Frank; she hid in the crawl space for seven years from 1835 to 1842; sewing reading the Bible, and keeping watch over her most prized possessions, her children. I believe that living there was both a blessing and a curse; she was able to see her children grow up but she could never talk to them or hold them. She was safe but in a way she was in constant danger of being found. She was close to freedom but she had to stay in a cramped space for seven years. What she had to endure made her seem more relatable to then the other slave narratives that I read. She was determined to be free and for both her children to be free and this was the only way she knew of how to accomplish her dream. After Jacobs ran away from Mr. Flint, Dr. Flint never gave up looking for Harriet. This was another difference in this narrative; the owner had somewhat of an obsession with his former slave. He did everything in his power to find her, from putting out wanted ads offering money for her return, writing and visiting New York where he thought she was hiding, and constantly questioning her family on her whereabouts. It was as though he couldn t deal with the fact that he didn t have control over her anymore. Maybe it was because she didn t give into his sexual advances or maybe it was just because a slave had outsmarted him, but his determination to enslave Jacobs again was peculiar. Another way Incidents in the Life of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Act Of Texas And The Sunset Advisory Commission ( Sac ) In 2013, a proposal was written by a branch of the Texas state government called the Sunset Advisory Commission (SAC). This proposal would, if made into law, deregulate 14,568 respiratory therapists (RTs) currently employed in Texas (Gaebler 6). This would mean that RTs along with 18 other programs would not have to hold a state license to practice their craft (Sunset 52). Deregulation may sound like a good idea on paper, however in practice, it is anything but. The potential negative outcomes in the form of patient harm and possible death would far outweigh any benefit. Deregulation of respiratory therapists in Texas began in the government as a proposal, was fought against by those who say the potential danger in the idea, then ended back in the government with a compromise that was written into law. In May of 2014, the SAC released a report. This report states that the commission felt that RTs along with several other professions should no longer be regulated by an agency of the government called the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) (52). One of the many responsibilities of the DSHS is providing state licensure to individuals of various job disciplines which both can and do have an impact on public health (43). The SAC brings up a few key points in the report: First, the SAC argues that, the DSHS is under staffed and underfunded for the amount of tasks it must manage (4). • 7. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Deviance Deviance is generally a phenomenon of deviating from the existing social norms. It basically depends on the society and the culture or group they belong to and not on the act that they perform. Therefore, it is relative and not person or individual specific. According to sociologists, a specific act to which people do not abide by and react in an opposite manner is referred to as a deviant act. Thus, it can be said that all individuals who do not obey the rules and regulations are deviants. According to a sociologist, Erving Goffman, a person s status is defined by one specific quality or attribute which becomes his master status and all other characteristics of the person are ignored. This one quality that becomes his master status is referred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to achieve certain goals, people sometimes tend to be deviants because access to easier means is all it takes to decide for a person to become a deviant or not. According to Emile Durkheim, deviance brings in social order and unity. Hence, deviance is functional. It helps decide and clear the boundaries of a society and norms as to how people should think and act. One major advantage of deviance is that it helps in bringing a chance in the society which can be a positive one. if majority of the people follow the same deviant act, it becomes a permanent change with new behaviors and conduct in a society. As explained by the Strain theory which was given by Robert Merton, there are cases when the goal of the individuals is a moral and cultural goal but the means to achieve the specific goal is immoral or is not legitimate. Basically there is a strain that people experience when they wish to achieve a certain goal which can only be accomplished by unfair means. The team for this kind of a strain used by Merton is anomie which was coined by Durkheim. To achieve a certain cultural goal, there are five kinds of reactions. One is by directly following all the rules and regulations and achieving the goals. The rest of them are the deviant means including innovative ideas, ritualism which means sacrificing the goals in order to maintain the proper code of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Churchill reached the height of his fame as the heroic prime minister of the United Kingdom during World War II. He offered his people only blood, toil, tears, and sweat as they struggled to keep their freedom. Churchill also was a noted speaker, author, painter, soldier, and war reporter. Few men ever served their country so long or so well. Early life Boyhood and education. Winston Churchill was born on Nov. 30, 1874, in Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England. He was the elder of the two sons of Lord Randolph Churchill (1849 1895) and Lady Churchill (1854 1921), an American girl whose maiden name was Jennie Jerome. Lord Randolph was the third son of the seventh Duke of Marlborough. The first Duke of Marlborough had been one of England s greatest military commanders. Winston s mother was famous for her beauty. Her father, Leonard Jerome, made and lost several fortunes in business. Young Winston, a chunky lad with a mop of red hair, had an unhappy boyhood. He talked with a stutter and lisp, and did poorly in his schoolwork. His stubbornness and high spirits annoyed everyone. In addition, his parents had little time for him. Winston stood in fear and wonder of his father. Lord Randolph, a leader in the Conservative party, showed little affection for Winston. Winston s mother charmed everyone with her beauty and wit. As Lord Randolph s wife, she had many duties. Little time was left for Winston. Churchill later wrote of his mother: She shone for me like the Evening Star. I loved her dearly but at a distance. • 9. Analysis Of Somaliland Announced s Secession From Somalia... Somaliland announced its secession from Somalia in 1991 and has operated as a more or less independent country ever since. It has its own president, parliament and constitution. It even boasts a central bank that prints its own currency, the Somaliland shilling. The peaceful existence of its three million mostly Muslim, but secular, residents contrasts sharply with the disorder and instability of Somalia. The world, however, has refused to recognize Somaliland. Reluctant to encourage other separatist movements, the West remains committed to supporting the embattled Transitional Federal Government in Somalia, which opposes its separation. Now let me talk about the Economy in Somaliland even though Somaliland is not totally independent country and still share a lot with Somalia when it comes to economy. In this paper I will concentrate four aspects that s makes Somaliland economy weak or low. Certification Somaliland government does not have the capacity to participate in certification schemes or to provide authenticity documentation that would enable businesses to sell goods globally. Firms instead have to find unconventional, and often costly, workarounds. Although sesame seeds are grown in large quantities in Somaliland in 2012 the country was the 12th largest producer in the world exporting them is challenge. Americans attitudes towards single [parenting] were so negative by negative I mean, nearly seven out of ten said that single [parents] raising a child without the benefit of a partner was bad for society (Huntington Post). Many assumptions are made towards single parents looking down on them not knowing all that they go through. They just have that stereotypical mind that single parents are bad parents. Although these parents become single parents, they still have the help from the other parent when they are visiting their child. Many single parents just never married. Although some may know their child s father they are still considered single parents for raising the child as a single parent. Even as young as 15 years old parents, can be found as single parents. These parents were way too young and choose to not married the child s father, choose to bring a child into the world where they would take care of them on their own. Lastly and not an uncommon way of being a single parent is being a widow. Mothers could died while giving birth, leaving the father to raise the child on their own. Fathers or mother could have a serious illness that keeps them from being in a child s life as they grown up. As sad as it may be some child grow up without a father or mother because they died before they could remember any memories of them. Along with other planets, Mercury s surface experiences a wider range of extreme temperatures than any other planet in the Solar System, that we know of. It is very simple to explain, Mercury s surface is much hotter than any other planet, due to the direct heat for part of the day. Conveniently, the temperatures of other planets remain relatively stable because their atmospheres being virtually the same. Over time the orbit of Mercury shifts slightly around the Sun, this process is known as precession. This was a constant problem for astronomers in the late nineteen hundreds and early twenty hundreds. Many theories were presented to show the difference between the actual and fictional ideas. One idea even suggested the idea of a unknown planet closer to the Sun than Mercury had been. The truth was eventually proven when Einstein published his great theory, that there was another planet before Mercury, but he had no real proof of its existence. As a result of this theory, Mercury s orbit idea was finally described exactly how it was. Though it had been believed for a long time that Mercury s spin orbit was not correct, it was discovered in the mid twenty hundreds that it is, in fact, correct. This idea produced what would soon be a great discovery for a satellite that the planet does indeed orbit. Mercury s orbit takes the small planet as close as 29 million miles and as far as 43 million miles from the sun. If one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The present crisis being faced by the company seems to be a result of protectionism in the global banana market. Ideally there should be no restriction for free flow of goods and services but this is not true. There is hardly any field where restrictions are not present in trade as the nation/region imposing those restrictions wants to protect local economies from tough international competition. Banana industry is no exception to this general rule. The world is still in a transition phase as regards real integration of the world trade into an ideal single market. Undoubtedly the protectionism has played a spoil sport for big players in banana market but at the same time provided much needed support to developing nations especially ACP region that formed former colonies of Britain and France. The trade barriers proved successful for the less efficient producers as they got protection against bigger players. This essay will provide a brief history of this evolution and evaluation of some advantages and disadvantages of a modern jury system. According to The Open University (2014, section 10.1), under Anglo Saxon domination all disputes were resolved in local courts called moots . These courts later developed and became Magistrates Courts, still keeping their local function. Majority of all criminal cases are heard there, however the courts can only decide on summary or triable either way offences, referring the most serious files to the Crown Court. Crown courts, which superseded the courts of assize and quarter sessions, were established under the Courts Act 1971 to improve efficiency of the existing criminal justice system. The latter were local courts of the Queen s Bench Division, which served a number of circuits by assembling juries and hearing cases not serious enough to go before a High Court judge. The Norman Conquest made significant changes to the English law by establishing the Curia Regis , the court which was ruled by the king and his appointed judges. While the genocide in Cambodia is not as widely recognized as that of Rwanda or the Holocaust, millions of Cambodian citizens were murdered between the years of 1975 and 1979 under the control of the Khmer Rouge. The government depopulated cities and forcibly relocated citizens to collective farms known as Killing Fields because of the unspeakable amount of deaths of all ages that occurred there. Approximately 14,000 lives were taken in these fields due to the stringent rules placed upon the citizens. The Khmer Rouge advocated for social equality and transformed Cambodia into a pre industrialized nation centered around agriculture. The loss of millions of lives led to significant demographic changes, ranging from an increase in the amount of elderly, homeless citizens, and to a decrease in ethnic diversity across the nation. I personally took a few months before I began to even get the majority of the simplest concepts. After a long period of learning and teaching guitar, I ve boiled down several techniques to easily and quickly pick it up. Let s get started! First, make a log of everything you do in practice. This one sounds kind of goofy, but, trust me, it s monumental in your progress. Steve Vai noted in several interviews, that everything he practiced in guitar, he wrote down. Not only did he write down what he practiced, but how he practiced it, when he practiced it, and why he practiced it. Do this, and see what kinds of patterns you are developing. Second, if you ve got a weak area in your practice, write it down, then practice it! Write down in your log, I m weak in scales/chords/finger speed/etc, and will practice it for 30 45 minutes. Do this. I did it, and it helped me more than doing anything else. Now, is just writing down what you re weak in and what you need to do going to change it? No, not at all. You have to make the COMMITMENT to practice it, if you want to get better at it.
