The Necessity Of Radical Reconstruction After The Civil War
The necessity of Radical Reconstruction After the Civil War had ended a period of reconstruction was
in mind, but failed to succeed. President Andrew Johnson s principle was that the South never had a
right to succeed. He also believed that blacks should not have any role in the reconstruction. Johnson
appointed provisional governors and ordered them to call state conventions to establish new, all white
government. Radical Republicans believed that people of all skin color had the right to be equal. In
their opinion, blacks should have the same political opportunities as well as rights as whites. They
wanted to see the powers of national government expanded since they believed the war was fought for
equal rights. A Civil Rights Bill was passed on in 1966 which stated That all persons born in the
United States and not subject to any foreign power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the hardships, the war for African American freedom was not over. It was a necessary time
period in order for us to understand what country we want to live in, what changes had to be made.
The most significant events of the 1920s The 1920s, also known best as the roaring twenties were a
major breakthrough in the countries. Jazz, movies, radio, dancing, consumer culture based on credit,
increased personal freedom, and for some, increased wealth, but not for all. The 1920s were marked
by a bit of a government corruption, mostly an outcome of the administration of Warren G. Harding.
He himself was not corrupt, but chose incorrect companions like Harry Dougherty, who accepted to
not prosecute criminals, and Albert Fall, who took half a million dollars from private business in
exchange for leases to government oil reserves at Teapot Dome, later becoming the first cabinet
member to ever get convicted of a

The Culture Of The Peoples From The Highlands Of Guatemala
Internally displaced peoples from the highlands of Guatemala, as in much of Latin America, often
seek refuge in the outskirts of their nations capitals. In Guatemala City and in other populous
Guatemalan cities throughout the country, families have made their lives anew after years of violence
and tragedy. The history of mass migration towards city centers and their outskirts can be traced to the
overthrow of the democratically elected president Jacobo Arbenz, in the year 1954, which was the
catalyst for a 36 year long civil war in the Central American nation. Many of the countries indigenous
Mayan population faced and still face high levels of discrimination, genocidal violence, inadequate
housing, coupled with high infant mortality rates, and low levels of literacy and education attainment,
their plight is one that is well documented. The indigenous populations have remained in a more or
less stagnate position, until recent upturns in the 21st century. In addition, in the year 1992, Rigoberta
Menchu, an indigenous Mayan woman was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her activism and
account of the extent of the Guatemalan genocide. The Guatemalan republic one with high levels of
biodiversity, and extremely abundant in natural resources such a woods, jades, and minerals, I argue,
has lead it s poor and its disenfranchised on a road towards high ecological and environmental
disaster, through misuse of their military, inadequate policy, and planning when it comes to the
dangers

Once Upon A Time In The West Essay
The opening sequence of Spaghetti Western film, Once Upon a Time in the West (Sergio Leone,
1968), showcases how director, Sergio Leone, utilises the formal properties of the medium of cinema
to produce meaning for the audience and foreshadow later events and themes which arise throughout
the development of the plot. The film opens with a single scene of a mysterious, harmonica playing
gunman (Charles Bronson), embroiled in a showdown with three men that have been drafted to kill
him (Jack Elam, Woody Strode, Al Mulock). The sequence culminates with the gunman binding up his
wounded arm and collecting his belongings, abandoning the other three men dead by a railway line.
This essay will endeavour to explore how each creative and technical element of the production
creates a sense of ambiguity and tension to the scene, grasping the audience s engagement with the
film. To do this, the mise en scène, cinematography, editing, sound and performance of the text will
each be subject to detailed analysis.
Without a doubt, the most effective and compelling element of the opening scene is ... Show more

The length of each shot is long, moments of subtle action drawn out into longer cuts to heighten the
sense of dread. For example, in the moments of the aftermath of the shooting, the character of the
Harmonica is shown to bandage up his arm and put his hat on. Instead of adopting a range of angles
and cuts to portray this sequence, Leone favours a single mid shot that lasts twenty seven seconds.
This protracted sequence builds the sense of enigma surrounding the Harmonica who is this man and
what will he do next? The length of the shot also hints at the characterisation of the gunman to the
audience; the leisurely pace at which he performs his duties depicting him as someone who is not
afraid of danger or violence, traits which are seen again and again throughout the progression of the

Handmaid s Tale Offred Quotes
Is a mother a mother after she lost her child? Offred, a handmaid who is different from the other
maids. Offred is in depression, but not showing any signs of it due to the oppression. In the novel The
Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, Offred is a handmaid has not seen her daughter and Luke.
Offred demonstrates that love can lead to depression with flashbacks and point of view of not seeing
her husband Luke and her daughter whom she both utterly loved. Thoughts and memories are the only
reasons Offred reminds herself of her daughter. Offred has a daughter, since she states, She fades I can
t keep her with me (Atwood 64). Offred s flashback remembers she once had a daughter but was not
able to be part of her life. The thought of not being able to be part of her daughter s life leaves her in
melancholy. Later she thinks her daughter as a ghost who died and could not keep. Offred tells herself
[she is] the ghost of a dead girl (Atwood 64). Offred s flashback is that her daughter died, after the
birth of Gilead. With these emotional distresses, Offred is in despair and in denial of the existence of
her daughter. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Persuasive Speech
During the episode Hush from Joss Whedon s the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Buffy the main
character s hometown Sunnydale is invaded by demons who call themselves The Gentlemen. The
Gentlemen come into a town during the late hours of the night and while everyone is asleep they steal
the voices of the towns people, and begin to harvest their hearts. This relates to how most politicians
come and take over a town and many times the citizens of said town have no say in anything.Similar
to The Gentlemen, politicians seem to emerge out of thin air and take control of everything, by doing
things their own way and ignoring what their suppose to do as politicians. The Gentlemen as political
leaders have to steal the voices of the townspeople in order have complete control. Similarly to the
tactics of politicians, The Gentlemen suddenly came into town and since they are superior, they
decided to do what they want. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After Buffy screams, her voice alone kills the Gentlemen. The heads of the Gentlemen start to
explode. By using her voice she defeats them, this is a prime example of what someone can do if they
stand for whatever it is they believe in. Similar to this episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, people can
stand up for what they believe in and use their voices just like how Buffy used her scream to defeat the
gentlemen. For example, people complain about how things are not right but instead of complaining
they could just use their voices to speak up then things would be different instead of complaining
continuously. Then people who are more so suited for political positions would end up elected. And
just like how Buffy used her scream in order to defeat the Gentlemen, the people would use their
voices to rise up and create a better political system with good hearted people. This just comes to
show what standing up for what is right can

Kidney Injury And Hormonal Failure
The kidneys play host to a variety of different important functions in our bodies. The kidney s primary
function is the removal of toxins, which is excreted in the form of urine. The second extremely
important role of the kidneys is maintaining the body s acid base balance. This is balance is
maintained by the excretion of fixed acids and the reabsorption of bicarbonate. The hormonal
functions of the kidneys include the regulation of blood pressure and the manufacturing of red blood
cells.
As critical care nurses, why should we be concerned about acute kidney injury (AKI)? How about a

There are a variety of options for anticoagulation in CRRT patients. Heparin is the least expensive and
drug with the shortest half life, which is why it is the preferred method of anticoagulation. Heparin
does require frequent PTT monitoring and dose adjustments. The disadvantages to heparin use are
increased bleeding risk and thrombocytopenia. For those patients who develop heparin induced
thrombocytopenia (HIT), the use of a direct thrombin inhibitor is recommended. Argatroban and
Lepirudin are the two direct thrombin inhibitors of choice. Deciding between the two is based on
patient history, current medical condition and method of CRRT used. Argatroban is eliminated by the
liver, whereas Lepirudin is eliminated by the kidneys and may not be used in patients with AKI. For
those patients with an allergy to Heparin, the use of citrate is an option. Citrate binds to calcium in the
patients blood within the CRRT circuit and will help prolong circuit life. Citrate requires monitoring
of labs, specifically ionized calcium, sodium and acid base status. Citrate is contraindicated in patients
with hepatic failure or with lactic acidosis. When the use of anticoagulates are contraindicated, sodium
chloride is used. Small boluses, approximately 100 200 milliliters, are used to flush the CRRT circuit.
These fluid boluses are used to reduce the stagnation of blood in the

The Beauty Of The Beholder
An all too familiar phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder has been blanketed in the minds of
society throughout history. However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine
the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which
brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident
when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip
clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable.
Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would
reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable
beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective
form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are
based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are
objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone
present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity
requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell

Media Bias In Mass Media
In United State mass media has always been known for being biased. And that s dating back in the
early 1700s. For instance, in 1798, 4 laws of Alien and Sedition Acts was passed by the Congress of
U.S in which they state that The Sedition Act made it a crime for American citizens to print, utter, or
publish... any false, scandalous, and malicious writing . Thus, these laws straightly go against the
political parties and the journalists and newspapers. Consequently, by the beginning of 1801, this act
was abolished. Until the 19th century, it s clearly that the rise of bias in mass media has never gotten
any diminished. These mainstream such as CNN, BBC, NBC News, MSNBC, Daily Show, or New
York Times versus Fox News, Wall Street Journal, Drudge Report or Rush Limbaugh Show still
battling for their political supports, Democratic liberals versus Republican conservatives. Their biases
are most likely to be seen in the editorial section of the newspapers. However, it s seemed to be true
that the vast majorities of mass media nowadays tend to be biased, more towards progressive liberal
values. The Gallup reveals that the polls of American s Trust in the Mass Media has been decrease by
a lot since 1997. 53% in comparison to 40% in 2013. The people confidence in television and news
also dropped majorly, 46%, almost 50% in 1994 in comparison of 18% in 2014. In addition, a fewer
number of Republicans believe in media to report as such fully, accurately and fairly . Also, we

The Impact Of Privacy In Nigeria
Before the British colonial invasion, Nigeria lived as autonomous commities, kingdoms and
caliphates, where political, social and economic administrations were carried out independently. At the
invasion, Nigeria became a British protectorate, part of the British Empire in 1901. However, for
administrative purposes the protectorate was divided into the Southern and Northern Protectorates. In
1914 both protectorates were merged into a single colony known as Nigeria by the effort of Sir
Fredrick Lugard. This amalgamation was with the intent to unite the people and culture of the
Northern and Southern protectorates into a sovereign nation called Nigeria. However, the success of
this 1914 amalgamation has been called to question given the ever widening gap in ... Show more

The possibility of surveillance, whether direct or through access to records of speech, research and

Protecting user privacy and confidentiality has long been an integral part of the mission of libraries.
The ALA has affirmed a right to privacy since 1939. Rights to privacy and confidentiality also are
implicit in the guarantee of free access to library resources for all users. Libraries advocate the rights
of people to unfettered access to information (Okeke, Ibegbulam, Orakpor and Asom, 2013). Libraries
are the focal point for people s inquiry into the physical and social phenomena of their environment as
it serves as a social instrument, a learning centre and an open university for all classes of people.

The atmosphere of Mars is mostly carbon dioxide and the surface of the planet is too cold to support

1% of the Earth s atmosphere at sea level. After Earth, Mars is the planet with the most livable climate

Superiority Theory In Reflections Upon Laughter
Superiority theory was therefore confirmed by the superior members of society refraining from
laughing. In Reflections Upon Laughter, Hutcheson argued against Hobbes s claim that the essential
feature of laughter is expressing feelings of superiority is. If Hobbes were right, claims Hutcheson,
there can be no laughter where we do not compare ourselves with others or with some former state of
ourselves and whenever we feel sudden glory, we laugh. But neither of these is true. We sometimes
laugh at an odd metaphor or simile, for example, without comparing ourselves to anyone. Not only are
feelings of superiority not necessary for amusement, Hutcheson argued, but they are not sufficient,
either. We have feelings of superiority toward people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the superiority theory which aims at social reform through the emotional side of humour,
incongruity theory aims at social reform through the cognitive side. The cognitive juxtaposition of
contrary interests and attitudes is the key to comedy in Bernard Shaw. The slum dwellers and
landlords in Widower s House, romantic and realistic attitudes to war in Arms and the Man, external
polish and internal instincts in Pygmalion provide comic juxtaposition and create humour with satire.
This approach was taken by James Beattie, Immanuel Kant, Soren Kierkegaard, Arthur Schopenhauer,
and many later philosophers and psychologists. It is now the dominant theory of humor in philosophy
and psychology. As Robert Latta and others have pointed out, the words incongruous and incongruity
are used sloppily in many versions of the theory. The dictionary says that incongruous things are
characterized by a lack of harmony, consistency, or compatibility with one another. Congruere in Latin
means to come together, to agree. In geometry, congruent triangles have the same shape and size; one
fits exactly over the other (104). Paul McGhee s uses the term incongruity interchangeably with
absurdity, ridiculousness, and the ludicrous. McGhee offers a second definition of incongruity:
something unexpected, out of context, inappropriate, unreasonable, illogical, exaggerated, and so
forth. (10). The core concept in incongruity theories is based on the fact that human experience works
with learned patterns. Most of the time, most experiences of most people follow such mental patterns.
The future turns out like the past. But sometimes we perceive or imagine a thing whose parts or
features violate our mental

The idea that the healthcare reimbursements should be linked to the quality outcomes and

services and outcomes or reduce their payments if certain quality standards are unmet. This paper talks
about the different reforms under PPACA, aimed at introducing payment variations based on quality

Introduction
United States has no dearth of highly qualified, well trained doctors and still the US healthcare quality
fails to meet the established industry benchmarks. Institute of Medicine s (IOM s) 2001 Report,
Crossing the Quality Chasm , clearly states that the American healthcare delivery system is in need of
a pivotal change. (Committee on Quality of Healthcare in America (Institute of Medicine), 2001). The
exasperation level is continuously rising amongst both, the patients and the providers, and yet the
problem of delivering and receiving high quality care remains unaffected. In order to address this
problem of healthcare quality improvement and affordability, the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (PPACA or Obamacare) was signed in the year 2010. The main aim behind PPACA is to
improve healthcare quality and accessibility, at the same time keeping it cost efficient. To facilitate its
goal PPACA is trying to achieve the cost effectiveness through reducing the Medicare price growth
and regulating the quantity of care by encouraging evidence based practices. This new legislation
supports the healthcare system in which the goals of both provider and the patients are better aligned
with value as opposed to the quantity of services. Overall the reform under PPACA seeks to establish a
direct link between the payments made to the healthcare

Milton Friedman, An American Economist
When most of us think of the words opportunity cost, price, production, and service, we think of
something related to obtaining or giving something. According to Merriam Webster, opportunity cost
is defined as, the added cost of using resources (as for production or speculative investment) that is the
difference between the actual value resulting from such use and that of an alternative (as another use
of the same resources or an investment of equal risk but greater return). Price, is defined as the amount
of money that you pay for something or that something costs. Production, is defined as the process of
making or growing something for sale or use, and lastly, service, is defined as, the occupation or
function of serving. Milton Friedman, an American economist, would say, nothing in live is free, that
is, if you want something, you have to give something. These four words can all be tied together and
used to give and receive. We can either use it to our benefit or simply perform it. We could get the
most out of life using these four words, opportunity cost, price, production, and service, by primary
accepting that everything in life is obtained at a cost, acknowledging that they can be used as forward
looking concepts, and agreeing to do everything yourself instead of hiring someone to do it in your
place. Multiple people simply cannot accept the fact that everything obtained in life comes at a cost.

Women And Women Of The Chesapeake Area During The...
As Martha Ballard writes in her diary, A womans work is never Done as the Song says and Happy is
shee [sp] whose strength holds out to the end of the rais [race]. Women, like Ballard, contributed
useful and skilled labor, though it was often derided, mocked, or overlooked. However, the work of
women varied greatly, due to location, social class, race, time period, and more. This essay will focus
on two very different groups of women, early female settlers of the Chesapeake area during the
seventeenth century and the Native American women of the Iroquois Confederacy, spread across
northeastern New York and Ontario during the same time period. Through the analysis, the necessity
of the study of women s work will become evident; it aids historians in understanding women s past:
including gender perceptions, the myriad of experiences faced by different women, and the changes
over that occurred over time.
Though traditional history books paint the workers in the United States as all male, the women were
very much a part of the labor force. However, the way in which labor affected gender roles very much
differed. In some examples, work broke down gender roles. In the rice fields, both male and female
African slaves were forced to work side by side. This is interesting because in rice producing countries
of Africa, women were the sole producers of rice. On the other hand, the British had seen agriculture
as a man s work, and women typically only worked in the fields during

Theory Of Perfectionism
According to Dunn, Whelton, and Sharpe (2006), due to working as academics involves having to
constantly receive criticism from colleagues and students as well as bearing the expectations to deliver
work in the highest standards, university academics are therefore seen as the most appropriate group
to represent the professional group for the study of perfectionism. The career as a university professor
is indeed very challenging, whereby everyday work entails critical scrutiny from peers. In addition to
that, the environment that these professors have to face each day are somewhat trying and
unaccommodating (Gmelch, Wilke, Lovrich, 1986) which can further aggravate dysfunctional
personality tendencies. All these criteria may one way or the other give ... Show more content on

According to a study conducted by Dr. Sherry and colleagues, it was found that the existence of a high
level of perfectionism among professors led to a lesser likelihood of them producing publications,
gaining valuable citations and also publishing their work in high impact journals or in other words
lower research productivity. This could impact their career in the long run due to the more they had
perfectionistic tendencies within them, the less productive they were in research. Whereas there is
general agreement in the literature on the definition of perfectionism, Dr. Sherry is of the opinion that
perfectionists are individuals who either strive to execute a task perfectly or not executing it at all.
They can never settle for less in anything that they do and may continuously reflect on their abilities
which can lead to an exaggerated self checking of not committing any mistakes whatsoever

Carpet Baggers Research Paper
According to Texas myth carpetbaggers were taking over positons in office, and dominating
politically. These carpetbaggers migrated from the north, and they supported the Republican party.
Democrats were upset with carpetbaggers coming to Texas, and described them exploitive and
corrupt. These individuals were known as carpetbaggers because they brought everything they had in
a soft suitcase made of carpet. These carpetbaggers were seen as something negative that only brought
bad energy to Texas, and did nothing to benefit us. Democrats also described them as someone who
could not be trusted. This myth is important to Texas history because it lets us know how
carpetbaggers contributed to Texas. The textbook Beyond Myths and Legends: A Narrative History of
Texas states that this myth is not entirely true in fact carpetbaggers did contribute to Texas Positively.

Tulips have been placed with a class of plants that shape foods grown from the ground called
angiosperms, which initially dates approximately 100 million years back. Most plants recreated the
way our forefathers would have done it, through spores that made hereditarily indistinguishable clones
of their folks. Yet, angiosperms hit upon another method for spreading their qualities that gave them a
transformative favorable position. They delivered female cells that remained on the plant and male

Prostitution Laws On Judeo Christian Morality
Western countries like the United States base many of their prostitution laws on Judeo Christian
morality, which discourages the act of selling sex due to the belief that sex is sacred in creating life,
however many theorists disagree due to its singular concern. With Fondation Scelles reporting that
80% of prostitutes in the world are women aged between 13 and 25, and the political inclusion of the
right to an individual s personal liberty, the debate of prostitution serves to be a pluralized issue in
consideration of feminist and libertarian perspectives. Discussions of the pluralism in the prostitution
debate is evident in Canada, with the Supreme Court ruling that it is no longer illegal to sell sex,
however it is a crime to buy sex, in an effort to protect the women who are being exploited into sex
trafficking. Despite the government s contributions to remove the stigma of sex workers, rather than
more criminal roles like pimps, the morally problematic exploitation of women in sex trafficking
continues to exist. Therefore, the government has an ethical responsibility to legalize and control the
sex trade based on its application to consequentialist concerns with health and safety, libertarian views
on personal autonomy and female entitlement and empowerment, and its comparison to the legal
pornography industry. The morality of prostitution has been debated due to its existence in nearly all
cultures in history, therefore the major positions need to be discussed.

In modern literary interpretation, the correspondence of the authors intention with the meaning of the
work, is considered paramount to discerning the true literary meaning of a work . E.D. Hirsch a
renowned literary critic argues that to correctly interpret a text, the interpret must consider the author
and the text s inner and out horizon . To discover the inner horizon, the interpreter must look at the
culture and background of the work and author so they can understand the logic, belief systems, and
historical context that bound the work. The addition of the outer horizon allows the reader to consider
the author s intention in writing the piece. Hirsh establishes that a literary interpretation can be
considered the most probable, if the reader considers the plausibility of the interpretation based on the
context established from the text s horizon, coherence .
Schroeder extensively describes the horizon of the text as well as the horizon of the author and his
intention and evaluates her own claim with data and support.
First, she describes the inner horizon of the text with a description of Nahua culture and background.
She states the codex adheres to annals genre , a traditional form of Nahua record keeping that is based

The Effect Of A Media Stimulus On The Perceptions Of...
Introduction Students of the class Introduction to Research Methods conducted two studies to collect
data on the perception of scientists. The purpose of the two studies conducted was to examine the
stereotypes of scientists of undergraduate Speech and Hearing Science majors, and whether the use of
media has an influence on these stereotypes. Study one was a descriptive study that consisted of
administering a Draw A Scientist test. This was done in order to understand the perceptions of
scientists in a sample of Speech and Hearing Science majors at a large research university in the
Midwest, and be able to compare the results to other literature. Study 2 was an experimental study,
conducted to analysis the effect of a media stimulus on the perceptions of scientist. The goal of
conducting two studies was to have the ability to compare the results of the descriptive study with the
experimental study in order to determine the effects of the media and analyze certain stereotypic
characteristics of a scientist. The Draw A Scientist Test was first administered by David W. Chambers
in 1983. He created the DAST in order to analyze the stereotypes involved in people s perceptions of
scientists. Seven specific attributes of a scientist were included on the coding sheet of the DAST.

The Rise and Fall of Alexandria Essay
A Literature Review of The Rise and Fall of Alexandria
Book Review of The Rise and Fall of Alexandria How the modern world was actually established is
often overlooked and attributed to the powers and domination of Athens and Rome. What authors
Justin Pollard and Howard Reid urge readers to understand, however, is the significance that the city
of Alexandria had on Western Civilization. Both authors have worked in British and American
television, and are accomplished in the film/documentary industry. Reid has also previously written
five other books. In their narrative book, The Rise and Fall of Alexandria, they seek to emphasize just

7). He wanted Egypt as part of his growing empire. Not long after in 323 BC, however, Alexander
died and left this newly established city to his half brother and baby son. Alexander s childhood friend,
Ptolemy, soon came to rule over the city and Alexandria began rising. Ptolemy had plans for the city
and began building innovative roads and two sea harbors. With these new developments, authors note,
the fundamental plan of the greatest city in the ancient world was complete. Houses, slaves, cattle, and
taxpayers were being taken from surrounding villages and given to the capital city of Alexandria.
When Ptolemy s son and successor (Ptolemy II) began his rule on the city, he, too, threw himself into
developing Alexandria and created a currency that could be used to sell and trade. Structures were
built, such as temples and the lighthouse, and Alexandria was becoming known as the light of the
world (p. 92).
Along with the furthering of physical growth to the city of Alexandria, there was also growth
politically and religiously. Ptolemy wished to fuse ancient thinking with the modern thinking of the
Greeks, so he devised a plan and created a cult through a fusion of two gods: the god of the dead and
the living bull. And this Greco Egyptian cult was created and called Serapis. Through this newly
founded religion and the constant furthering of the city s buildings and technology, Alexandria began
to rise.

The sauce will need to be prepared while the baklava is baking, so it will be ready when you take the
dish out of the oven. In a medium saucepan bring one cup of water and one cup of white sugar to a
boil while stirring occasionally. Once the sugar has completely dissolved pour in half a cup of honey
and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Gently stir the mixture while it simmers for 20 minutes. Immediately
after removing the golden baklava from the oven drizzle one tablespoon of sauce on each piece, cover
all the dry spots with the remaining sauce. Allow the dessert to cool completely before transferring the
flaky triangles into individual cupcake liners. Put a few pieces into Ziploc bags and freeze for a tasty
treat another day or arrange them on a serving platter to share with friends. Be sure to leave them
uncovered or they may become soggy overnight. You are now equipped with the knowledge to prepare
a dish that will have people singing praise to your baking skills. As you can see this recipe is
surprisingly easy to make with an amazing end product. Every time you make this dessert it will

Analysis Of Lysistrata
In Aristophanes play Lysistrata, the plot is during the middle of the Peloponnesian war. The title
character Lysistrata, is a Athenian woman who has convened a meeting with the women whose
husbands are off fighting in the war. Lysistrata arranges the meeting in order to propose a solution to
ending the war which includes the women withholding sex from their husbands. Initially, the women
don t like the idea of her plan but soon come to agree with her after realizing that it may be the only
way to get the men to stop fighting. All of the women then take an oath and swear off sex until a peace
treaty is signed. Lysistrata also plans to attack and seize the nearby acropolis, which contains the
Athenian treasury, in order to cut off funding to the war. When the chorus of women go to the
acropolis, they are met by a chorus of men who have intentions of smoking the women out of it but
the women meet them with buckets of water. After multiple altercations with different people in the
men s chorus, one of the women s husbands shows up wanting to have sex with his wife and she plays
along with him, giving him the impression that they re going to have sex but then soon runs back to
the acropolis with the other women. Upon their return, men from both the nearby cities as well as
Sparta realize that they have something in common: their wives are all withholding sex from them and
the conspiracy is international. Upon the realization of this, the men decide to declare peace with one
another and the story concludes with large celebrations. A large portion of Aristophanes play relies
heavily on the use of women and sex in comedic ways. Aristophanes uses women to satirically
undermine the athenian government through the use of sexual comedy. Aristophanes portrays women
as irrational and lustful creatures. A large portion of the story relies heavily on this idea as for it drives
the idea as for it sets the tone for the mindset of the women. The play begins with a misinterpretation
between two characters, Calonice and Lysistrata. Lysistrata arranges the meeting of women and
Calonice is the first of the women to show up. Calonice is curious as to why Lysistrata calls the
meeting so she then asks, CALONICE. Well, Lysistrata

Tess of the D Urbervilles Compared to Jane Eyre
The characters, Tess and Jane are both the main characters of the novels ‘Tess of the D urbervilles

Whereas, ‘Jane Eyre is an autobiographical book about Jane.
The two novels are based in the past when women were not considered as equal to men. The
characters Jane and Tess are both women and so they are subject to discrimination and they both have
a lot in common, for example both Tess and Jane are considerate and caring.

Rochester is unrequited and when Tess feels that she ll never see Angel again after they separate. Their
pessimism is most probably because of their past misfortunes.
The fact that they learn from experience is shown when Jane mentions that it isn t wise to stand up to
her aunt and cousins and when Tess becomes very cautious after the incident with Alec.
Their inferiority complex is proven when Jane says that Miss Ingram is better than her and that Mr.
Rochester will choose her and when Tess thinks that Angel is too good to like her. This is because of
self doubt.
Their bottling up of feelings is shown when Jane hides her feelings of love from Mr. Rochester and
when Tess respects Angel s views and stays away from him.
They are both very determined to do what they resolve to do. This is proven in Jane s case when she
stays away from Mr. Rochester even though it tears her apart. And in Tess case, she is determined to
stay away from Alec D urberville. But both their determinations get exhausted after continuous attacks
made by the world and circumstances. This is proven by Jane s return to Mr. Rochester and Tess
marriage with Alec. But this doesn t mean that they lack will power, they have tremendous will power
but their emotions, which are intensified by time, and constant reminders of reality overpower and
overwhelm them.

Samoan Tatau s and My Culture
In our world today, Tattoo is a form of art displayed on the skin. In many countries, tattoos symbolize
different meanings, but in America, tattoo has lost its true meaning and is being performed on a daily
basis. In our society today, tattoos are becoming more of a trend. For instance, people are getting
flowers such as a rose being a popular one, tattooed on them. Currently nowadays, people are getting
anything tattooed that interests them and it is losing its significance. Back in Samoa, a small little
cultural country, traditional Samoan Tattoos are something that are considered sacred and have true
meaning behind it. The artwork and designs go beyond being skin deep. In every Samoan tattoo, there
are history and deep meanings behind each and every one. It takes a lot of hard work to earn in order
in having the honors to receive the Samoan tattoo. Not only is the Samoan Tattoo a form of beautiful
art, but it also resembles respect, loyalty, honor, community, and the growth of accomplishment in a
person. It is not like in America where getting a tattoo done is easy and your own decision, the
Samoan culture takes a lot of pride and courage into doing so.
The word Tattoo is believed to have originally come from the Samoan word Tatau . The Samoan word
for tattoo came from the Polynesian language, and the word tatau originates from the tapping sounds
of the tool made during tattooing (U.S National Park). The origins of the Samoan tatau have been

Technological Method
The Technological Forecasting method is used to analyze the market for the life span of an existing
technology to determine if its close to end of like and to see if a new product or technology is ready to
enter an existing market. It is also used to identify competing new technology and to forecast sales.
Before a new innovative product enters into the market Technology Forecasting is one of several
methods used to determine if customers will buy it. The Technology method should always be used in
conjunction with other tools to identify prospective customers, prototypes, focus groups, interviews,
market testing, internet polls and other tools to get a better understanding of the market. The major
techniques for technological forecasting is numeric data and judgmental. Numeric data based
forecasting extrapolates history by generating statistical fits to historical data. Judgmental forecasting
can also be based on past projection but like the Delphi method it relies on the subjective judgment of
experts. Keep in mind that technological forecasting is most appropriately applied to capabilities, not
to the specific characteristics of specific devices. Other Numeric data techniques are Trend
Extrapolation, Qualitative Approaches, Growth Curves, Envelop Curves and Substitution models.

Nabokov: Providing a Flood and Lifeboat
In Nabokov s 1948 Good Readers and Good Writers, the reader has the opportunity to view the
possibilities of a beautiful collision of a major reader and a major writer. This piece discusses reading
and writing: skills that have become standardized and slightly devalued as education has advanced.
Literacy has become so expected that little thought is put into what defines a good reader or writer;
Nabokov tackles this idea head on. Nabokov s intention of this piece is to passionately display a
relationship that is formed between a good reader and a good writer, and the essential need for an open
mind. He stresses the vitality of understanding instead of immediately identifying when reading; ...

Instead Nabokov states: study that new world as closely as possible, approaching it as something
brand new, having no obvious connection with the worlds we already know (1). When approached in
such a manner a major reader can see the new world in its entirety and once it has been explored and
understood then there is room to compare its connections to other worlds and knowledge.
Nabokov uses bold and unafraid language to emphasize his thoughts and chooses to speak only to
those who choose to listen. The lesson he teaches requires the audience to look past personal
comparison and preference. The audience must gain understand and appreciate first; then let Nabokov
s ideas apply to the world of reading and writing they themselves know it. Nabokov displays this
message by refusing to dull any of his thoughts: for example phrases like, Can anybody be so naive as
to think he or she can learn anything about the past from those... historical novels? (1). He still has a
definite message but in a lot of sentences and phrases they have a condescending punch to them.
Nabokov uses superlatives such as: the best temperament for a reader to have... (3). As well as
opinionated statements such as: nothing is more boring or more unfair... (1). Statements like these can
prevent his audience to open their minds because his language is emotionally provoking. Nabokov
purposely tests his audience by using powerful provoking language

Reasons For Britain To Leave The EU
Reason for Britain to leave the EU POLITICAL and FINANACIAL
The UK have been a part of the EU since 1973. Since the accession of the country in 1973, Europe has
completely changed its nature. For years, Euro sceptics have been campaigning for a referendum on
the membership on the UK in the EU.
The British has officially voted to move away from the EU. The market is in crisis after the revelation
that the united kingdom is a broken nation.
On June 23, 2016, in a referendum organized by former Prime Minister David Cameron, 51.9% of the
British chose to leave the EU (Wheeler, 5 September 2017) .Following the triggering of Article 50 of

However, the Brexit will not materialize immediately since Article 50 of the Treaty of the Union
provides for a two year period (renewable) between the withdrawal request and its effectiveness. Thus,
for at least 2 years, the United Kingdom will continue to be a member of the EU (and contribute €
4,930 million to its annual budget!). In this period, the modalities of the exit of the British Kingdom
will have to be negotiated between European leaders. Then the trade agreements will be renegotiated,
which could take up to 10 years warned the British government. Thus, the economic consequences of
a Brexit on the British economy will depend on the outcome of these negotiations. Some studies,
however, have sought to measure the long term consequences for the British economy. Overall, they
conclude that there are rather negative impacts on trade, GDP growth or per capita income
(économiques, Créé le 30 juin 2016).
The end of the financial passport
For the financial players, the Brexit is a real challenge. Indeed, the City, the world s largest stock

Air Pressure Of A Soccer Ball
The original question was, What is the effect of air pressure of a soccer ball on its bounce, ramp travel,
and catapult travel? The hypothesis stated that if a soccer ball is inflated to 5 different air pressures
(namely 6.9 kPa, 31 kPa, 55.2 kPa, 79.3 kPa, and 103.4 kPa), then the soccer ball that is inflated to
103.4 kPa (15 PSI) will perform the best in all three tests: namely the bounce, ramp, and catapult
travel tests. According to Soccer Ball World, higher air pressure correlates to further travel. This is due
to that fact that higher pressure improves the rebound of the soccer ball off of a player s foot, and less
energy is lost to deformation on a stiffer ball. However, after experimentation, the ball that was
inflated to 55.2 kPa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the bounce test, the ball may have been released from different points. Although it was
supposed to be released from its bottom, human error may have compromised the precision of this
measurement. To improve the design of the bounce test, the ball s bottom point should be marked, and
the ball should always be released from there. During the ramp test, the ball may also have been
released from different points. Although the ball was supposed to be placed on the ramp so that it
would be released from the front, human error may also have compromised the precision of this
measurement. In addition, human error may have caused unintentional and unnecessary force applied
to the ball. To solve these design issues, a door should be made that holds the ball at a certain position
for a fixed amount of time before the experimenter released the ball. During the catapult test, the ball
may have been held back for an excessive amount of time. To resolve this experimental design issue, a
fixed time to hold the ball back should be

President Andrew Johnson s principle was that the South never had a right to succeed. He also believed that blacks should not have any role in the reconstruction. Johnson appointed provisional governors and ordered them to call state conventions to establish new, all white government. Radical Republicans believed that people of all skin color had the right to be equal. In their opinion, blacks should have the same political opportunities as well as rights as whites. They wanted to see the powers of national government expanded since they believed the war was fought for equal rights. Jazz, movies, radio, dancing, consumer culture based on credit, increased personal freedom, and for some, increased wealth, but not for all. The 1920s were marked by a bit of a government corruption, mostly an outcome of the administration of Warren G. Harding. The Culture Of The Peoples From The Highlands Of Guatemala Internally displaced peoples from the highlands of Guatemala, as in much of Latin America, often seek refuge in the outskirts of their nations capitals. In Guatemala City and in other populous Guatemalan cities throughout the country, families have made their lives anew after years of violence and tragedy. The history of mass migration towards city centers and their outskirts can be traced to the overthrow of the democratically elected president Jacobo Arbenz, in the year 1954, which was the catalyst for a 36 year long civil war in the Central American nation. Many of the countries indigenous Mayan population faced and still face high levels of discrimination, genocidal violence, inadequate housing, coupled with high infant mortality rates, and low levels of literacy and education attainment, their plight is one that is well documented. The indigenous populations have remained in a more or less stagnate position, until recent upturns in the 21st century. In addition, in the year 1992, Rigoberta Menchu, an indigenous Mayan woman was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her activism and account of the extent of the Guatemalan genocide. The Guatemalan republic one with high levels of biodiversity, and extremely abundant in natural resources such a woods, jades, and minerals, I argue, has lead it s poor and its disenfranchised on a road towards high ecological and environmental disaster, through misuse of their military, inadequate policy, and planning when it comes to the dangers ... • 4. Once Upon A Time In The West Essay The opening sequence of Spaghetti Western film, Once Upon a Time in the West (Sergio Leone, 1968), showcases how director, Sergio Leone, utilises the formal properties of the medium of cinema to produce meaning for the audience and foreshadow later events and themes which arise throughout the development of the plot. The film opens with a single scene of a mysterious, harmonica playing gunman (Charles Bronson), embroiled in a showdown with three men that have been drafted to kill him (Jack Elam, Woody Strode, Al Mulock). The sequence culminates with the gunman binding up his wounded arm and collecting his belongings, abandoning the other three men dead by a railway line. This essay will endeavour to explore how each creative and technical element of the production creates a sense of ambiguity and tension to the scene, grasping the audience s engagement with the film. To do this, the mise en scène, cinematography, editing, sound and performance of the text will each be subject to detailed analysis. Without a doubt, the most effective and compelling element of the opening scene is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The length of each shot is long, moments of subtle action drawn out into longer cuts to heighten the sense of dread. For example, in the moments of the aftermath of the shooting, the character of the Harmonica is shown to bandage up his arm and put his hat on. Instead of adopting a range of angles and cuts to portray this sequence, Leone favours a single mid shot that lasts twenty seven seconds. This protracted sequence builds the sense of enigma surrounding the Harmonica who is this man and what will he do next? The length of the shot also hints at the characterisation of the gunman to the audience; the leisurely pace at which he performs his duties depicting him as someone who is not afraid of danger or violence, traits which are seen again and again throughout the progression of the ... This relates to how most politicians come and take over a town and many times the citizens of said town have no say in anything.Similar to The Gentlemen, politicians seem to emerge out of thin air and take control of everything, by doing things their own way and ignoring what their suppose to do as politicians. The hormonal functions of the kidneys include the regulation of blood pressure and the manufacturing of red blood cells. There are a variety of options for anticoagulation in CRRT patients. Heparin is the least expensive and drug with the shortest half life, which is why it is the preferred method of anticoagulation. Heparin does require frequent PTT monitoring and dose adjustments. The disadvantages to heparin use are increased bleeding risk and thrombocytopenia. For those patients who develop heparin induced thrombocytopenia (HIT), the use of a direct thrombin inhibitor is recommended. Argatroban and Lepirudin are the two direct thrombin inhibitors of choice. Deciding between the two is based on patient history, current medical condition and method of CRRT used. Argatroban is eliminated by the liver, whereas Lepirudin is eliminated by the kidneys and may not be used in patients with AKI. For those patients with an allergy to Heparin, the use of citrate is an option. Citrate binds to calcium in the patients blood within the CRRT circuit and will help prolong circuit life. Citrate requires monitoring of labs, specifically ionized calcium, sodium and acid base status. Citrate is contraindicated in patients with hepatic failure or with lactic acidosis. • 8. The Beauty Of The Beholder An all too familiar phrase Beauty is in the eye of the beholder has been blanketed in the minds of society throughout history. However, how much truth lies in that phrase or belief? If one is to examine the nature of this concept, beauty first and foremost needs a specific definition. Beauty is that which brings enjoyment to the person who observes or contemplates. The answer may seem self evident when examining different cultures around the world. Ethiopian women for example, wear a lower lip clay plate to represent social class and beauty within the tribe; the bigger, the more admirable. Astonishingly enough, any woman in the United States seen wearing a lower lip clay plate would reach an extremely high level of deviance. However, there are none to argue against the unexplainable beauty of the Swiss Alps. In re evaluation the over used cliché, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder raises room for debate, discussion, and consideration. In order to comprehend beauty in an objective form versus a subjective form, the difference between the two need clarification. Objective truths are based on facts pertaining to the physical and material world. Primary qualities for example, are objective. The size, shape, and motion of a substance remain true whether or not there is someone present to perceive these things. On the other hand, secondary qualities are subjective. Subjectivity requires a perceiver to perceive the affects of a given substance. Sound, taste, color and smell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Reflections Upon Laughter, Hutcheson argued against Hobbes s claim that the essential feature of laughter is expressing feelings of superiority is. If Hobbes were right, claims Hutcheson, there can be no laughter where we do not compare ourselves with others or with some former state of ourselves and whenever we feel sudden glory, we laugh. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike the superiority theory which aims at social reform through the emotional side of humour, incongruity theory aims at social reform through the cognitive side. The cognitive juxtaposition of contrary interests and attitudes is the key to comedy in Bernard Shaw. The slum dwellers and landlords in Widower s House, romantic and realistic attitudes to war in Arms and the Man, external polish and internal instincts in Pygmalion provide comic juxtaposition and create humour with satire. This approach was taken by James Beattie, Immanuel Kant, Soren Kierkegaard, Arthur Schopenhauer, and many later philosophers and psychologists. It is now the dominant theory of humor in philosophy and psychology. As Robert Latta and others have pointed out, the words incongruous and incongruity are used sloppily in many versions of the theory. The dictionary says that incongruous things are characterized by a lack of harmony, consistency, or compatibility with one another. Congruere in Latin means to come together, to agree. In geometry, congruent triangles have the same shape and size; one fits exactly over the other (104). Paul McGhee s uses the term incongruity interchangeably with absurdity, ridiculousness, and the ludicrous. McGhee offers a second definition of incongruity: something unexpected, out of context, inappropriate, unreasonable, illogical, exaggerated, and so forth. (10). The core concept in incongruity theories is based on the fact that human experience works with learned patterns. Most of the time, most experiences of most people follow such mental patterns. This paper talks about the different reforms under PPACA, aimed at introducing payment variations based on quality of care such as, Hospital Value Based Purchasing (VBP) program, improvements to different quality reporting programs, payment adjustments for hospital acquired conditions (HAC), reduction of hospital readmission rates (HRRP), testing for ... Introduction United States has no dearth of highly qualified, well trained doctors and still the US healthcare quality fails to meet the established industry benchmarks. Institute of Medicine s (IOM s) 2001 Report, Crossing the Quality Chasm , clearly states that the American healthcare delivery system is in need of a pivotal change. (Committee on Quality of Healthcare in America (Institute of Medicine), 2001). The exasperation level is continuously rising amongst both, the patients and the providers, and yet the problem of delivering and receiving high quality care remains unaffected. In order to address this problem of healthcare quality improvement and affordability, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or Obamacare) was signed in the year 2010. The main aim behind PPACA is to improve healthcare quality and accessibility, at the same time keeping it cost efficient. To facilitate its goal PPACA is trying to achieve the cost effectiveness through reducing the Medicare price growth and regulating the quantity of care by encouraging evidence based practices. This new legislation supports the healthcare system in which the goals of both provider and the patients are better aligned with value as opposed to the quantity of services. Overall the reform under PPACA seeks to establish a direct link between the payments made to the healthcare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Milton Friedman, An American Economist When most of us think of the words opportunity cost, price, production, and service, we think of something related to obtaining or giving something. According to Merriam Webster, opportunity cost is defined as, the added cost of using resources (as for production or speculative investment) that is the difference between the actual value resulting from such use and that of an alternative (as another use of the same resources or an investment of equal risk but greater return). Price, is defined as the amount of money that you pay for something or that something costs. Production, is defined as the process of making or growing something for sale or use, and lastly, service, is defined as, the occupation or function of serving. Milton Friedman, an American economist, would say, nothing in live is free, that is, if you want something, you have to give something. These four words can all be tied together and used to give and receive. We can either use it to our benefit or simply perform it. We could get the most out of life using these four words, opportunity cost, price, production, and service, by primary accepting that everything in life is obtained at a cost, acknowledging that they can be used as forward looking concepts, and agreeing to do everything yourself instead of hiring someone to do it in your place. Multiple people simply cannot accept the fact that everything obtained in life comes at a cost. Whether it be monetary or emotional even, you will have to give up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Martha Ballard writes in her diary, A womans work is never Done as the Song says and Happy is shee [sp] whose strength holds out to the end of the rais [race]. Women, like Ballard, contributed useful and skilled labor, though it was often derided, mocked, or overlooked. However, the work of women varied greatly, due to location, social class, race, time period, and more. This essay will focus on two very different groups of women, early female settlers of the Chesapeake area during the seventeenth century and the Native American women of the Iroquois Confederacy, spread across northeastern New York and Ontario during the same time period. Through the analysis, the necessity of the study of women s work will become evident; it aids historians in understanding women s past: including gender perceptions, the myriad of experiences faced by different women, and the changes over that occurred over time. Though traditional history books paint the workers in the United States as all male, the women were very much a part of the labor force. However, the way in which labor affected gender roles very much differed. In some examples, work broke down gender roles. In the rice fields, both male and female African slaves were forced to work side by side. This is interesting because in rice producing countries of Africa, women were the sole producers of rice. On the other hand, the British had seen agriculture as a man s work, and women typically only worked in the fields during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theory Of Perfectionism According to Dunn, Whelton, and Sharpe (2006), due to working as academics involves having to constantly receive criticism from colleagues and students as well as bearing the expectations to deliver work in the highest standards, university academics are therefore seen as the most appropriate group to represent the professional group for the study of perfectionism. The career as a university professor is indeed very challenging, whereby everyday work entails critical scrutiny from peers. In addition to that, the environment that these professors have to face each day are somewhat trying and unaccommodating (Gmelch, Wilke, Lovrich, 1986) which can further aggravate dysfunctional personality tendencies. This could impact their career in the long run due to the more they had perfectionistic tendencies within them, the less productive they were in research. Whereas there is general agreement in the literature on the definition of perfectionism, Dr. Sherry is of the opinion that perfectionists are individuals who either strive to execute a task perfectly or not executing it at all. • 21. Prostitution Laws On Judeo Christian Morality Western countries like the United States base many of their prostitution laws on Judeo Christian morality, which discourages the act of selling sex due to the belief that sex is sacred in creating life, however many theorists disagree due to its singular concern. With Fondation Scelles reporting that 80% of prostitutes in the world are women aged between 13 and 25, and the political inclusion of the right to an individual s personal liberty, the debate of prostitution serves to be a pluralized issue in consideration of feminist and libertarian perspectives. Discussions of the pluralism in the prostitution debate is evident in Canada, with the Supreme Court ruling that it is no longer illegal to sell sex, however it is a crime to buy sex, in an effort to protect the women who are being exploited into sex trafficking. Despite the government s contributions to remove the stigma of sex workers, rather than more criminal roles like pimps, the morally problematic exploitation of women in sex trafficking continues to exist. Therefore, the government has an ethical responsibility to legalize and control the sex trade based on its application to consequentialist concerns with health and safety, libertarian views on personal autonomy and female entitlement and empowerment, and its comparison to the legal pornography industry. The morality of prostitution has been debated due to its existence in nearly all cultures in history, therefore the major positions need to be discussed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To discover the inner horizon, the interpreter must look at the culture and background of the work and author so they can understand the logic, belief systems, and historical context that bound the work. The addition of the outer horizon allows the reader to consider the author s intention in writing the piece. Not long after in 323 BC, however, Alexander died and left this newly established city to his half brother and baby son. Alexander s childhood friend, Ptolemy, soon came to rule over the city and Alexandria began rising. Ptolemy had plans for the city and began building innovative roads and two sea harbors. With these new developments, authors note, the fundamental plan of the greatest city in the ancient world was complete. Houses, slaves, cattle, and taxpayers were being taken from surrounding villages and given to the capital city of Alexandria. When Ptolemy s son and successor (Ptolemy II) began his rule on the city, he, too, threw himself into developing Alexandria and created a currency that could be used to sell and trade. Structures were built, such as temples and the lighthouse, and Alexandria was becoming known as the light of the world (p. 92). Along with the furthering of physical growth to the city of Alexandria, there was also growth politically and religiously. Ptolemy wished to fuse ancient thinking with the modern thinking of the Greeks, so he devised a plan and created a cult through a fusion of two gods: the god of the dead and the living bull. The title character Lysistrata, is a Athenian woman who has convened a meeting with the women whose husbands are off fighting in the war. Lysistrata arranges the meeting in order to propose a solution to ending the war which includes the women withholding sex from their husbands. Initially, the women don t like the idea of her plan but soon come to agree with her after realizing that it may be the only way to get the men to stop fighting. All of the women then take an oath and swear off sex until a peace treaty is signed. Lysistrata also plans to attack and seize the nearby acropolis, which contains the Athenian treasury, in order to cut off funding to the war. When the chorus of women go to the acropolis, they are met by a chorus of men who have intentions of smoking the women out of it but the women meet them with buckets of water. After multiple altercations with different people in the men s chorus, one of the women s husbands shows up wanting to have sex with his wife and she plays along with him, giving him the impression that they re going to have sex but then soon runs back to the acropolis with the other women. Upon their return, men from both the nearby cities as well as Sparta realize that they have something in common: their wives are all withholding sex from them and the conspiracy is international. Upon the realization of this, the men decide to declare peace with one another and the story concludes with large celebrations. It is also used to identify competing new technology and to forecast sales. Before a new innovative product enters into the market Technology Forecasting is one of several methods used to determine if customers will buy it. The Technology method should always be used in conjunction with other tools to identify prospective customers, prototypes, focus groups, interviews, market testing, internet polls and other tools to get a better understanding of the market. The major techniques for technological forecasting is numeric data and judgmental. Numeric data based forecasting extrapolates history by generating statistical fits to historical data. Judgmental forecasting can also be based on past projection but like the Delphi method it relies on the subjective judgment of experts. Keep in mind that technological forecasting is most appropriately applied to capabilities, not

Good Readers Good Writers Nabokov: Providing a Flood and Lifeboat In Nabokov s 1948 Good Readers and Good Writers, the reader has the opportunity to view the possibilities of a beautiful collision of a major reader and a major writer. This piece discusses reading and writing: skills that have become standardized and slightly devalued as education has advanced. Literacy has become so expected that little thought is put into what defines a good reader or writer; Nabokov tackles this idea head on. Nabokov s intention of this piece is to passionately display a relationship that is formed between a good reader and a good writer, and the essential need for an open mind. He stresses the vitality of understanding instead of immediately identifying when reading; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead Nabokov states: study that new world as closely as possible, approaching it as something brand new, having no obvious connection with the worlds we already know (1). When approached in such a manner a major reader can see the new world in its entirety and once it has been explored and understood then there is room to compare its connections to other worlds and knowledge. Nabokov uses bold and unafraid language to emphasize his thoughts and chooses to speak only to those who choose to listen. The lesson he teaches requires the audience to look past personal comparison and preference. The audience must gain understand and appreciate first; then let Nabokov s ideas apply to the world of reading and writing they themselves know it. Nabokov displays this message by refusing to dull any of his thoughts: for example phrases like, Can anybody be so naive as to think he or she can learn anything about the past from those... historical novels? (1). He still has a definite message but in a lot of sentences and phrases they have a condescending punch to them. Nabokov uses superlatives such as: the best temperament for a reader to have... (3). As well as opinionated statements such as: nothing is more boring or more unfair... (1). Statements like these can prevent his audience to open their minds because his language is emotionally provoking. Nabokov purposely tests his audience by using powerful provoking language ... • 38. Reasons For Britain To Leave The EU Reason for Britain to leave the EU POLITICAL and FINANACIAL The UK have been a part of the EU since 1973. Since the accession of the country in 1973, Europe has completely changed its nature. For years, Euro sceptics have been campaigning for a referendum on the membership on the UK in the EU. The British has officially voted to move away from the EU. The market is in crisis after the revelation that the united kingdom is a broken nation. On June 23, 2016, in a referendum organized by former Prime Minister David Cameron, 51.9% of the British chose to leave the EU (Wheeler, 5 September 2017) .Following the triggering of Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union on 29 March 2017, the United Kingdom and the other 27 Member States of the ... However, the Brexit will not materialize immediately since Article 50 of the Treaty of the Union provides for a two year period (renewable) between the withdrawal request and its effectiveness. Thus, for at least 2 years, the United Kingdom will continue to be a member of the EU (and contribute € 4,930 million to its annual budget!). In this period, the modalities of the exit of the British Kingdom will have to be negotiated between European leaders. Then the trade agreements will be renegotiated, which could take up to 10 years warned the British government. Thus, the economic consequences of a Brexit on the British economy will depend on the outcome of these negotiations. Some studies, however, have sought to measure the long term consequences for the British economy. Overall, they conclude that there are rather negative impacts on trade, GDP growth or per capita income (économiques, Créé le 30 juin 2016). The end of the financial passport For the financial players, the Brexit is a real challenge. Indeed, the City, the world s largest stock exchange, interacts mainly with the European Union, which accounts for 41% of exports of financial services, compared with 26% for the United States, 2% for China and Hong Kong. This represented £ 19.4 billion in 2013; an amount which, according to Capital Economics, could be divided by two sequel to the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Air Pressure Of A Soccer Ball The original question was, What is the effect of air pressure of a soccer ball on its bounce, ramp travel, and catapult travel? The hypothesis stated that if a soccer ball is inflated to 5 different air pressures (namely 6.9 kPa, 31 kPa, 55.2 kPa, 79.3 kPa, and 103.4 kPa), then the soccer ball that is inflated to 103.4 kPa (15 PSI) will perform the best in all three tests: namely the bounce, ramp, and catapult travel tests. According to Soccer Ball World, higher air pressure correlates to further travel. This is due to that fact that higher pressure improves the rebound of the soccer ball off of a player s foot, and less energy is lost to deformation on a stiffer ball. However, after experimentation, the ball that was inflated to 55.2 kPa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the bounce test, the ball may have been released from different points. Although it was supposed to be released from its bottom, human error may have compromised the precision of this measurement. To improve the design of the bounce test, the ball s bottom point should be marked, and the ball should always be released from there. During the ramp test, the ball may also have been released from different points. Although the ball was supposed to be placed on the ramp so that it would be released from the front, human error may also have compromised the precision of this measurement. In addition, human error may have caused unintentional and unnecessary force applied to the ball. To solve these design issues, a door should be made that holds the ball at a certain position for a fixed amount of time before the experimenter released the ball. During the catapult test, the ball may have been held back for an excessive amount of time. To resolve this experimental design issue, a fixed time to hold the ball back should be ...
