Indian Democracy
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States of America, aptly defined democracy as a
government of the people, by the people and for the people.
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States of America, aptly defined democracy as a
government of the people, by the people and for the people. This definition clearly underlines the
basic tenet that, in this form of government, people are supreme. The ultimate power is in their hands
and they exercise it in the form of electing their representatives at the time of elections. In modern
times this type of democracy, which is representative in nature, is most suitable. The other type, the
direct democracy in which the people themselves enact and implement laws and run ... Show more

are preserved and further strengthened.
They help in the formation of public opinion as well. Thus, political parties see that there is nothing
against the spirit of democracy, freedom, equality and social justice. In the absence of political parties,
we cannot think of smooth and effective functioning of a democracy. Different political parties may
have different ideologies but they all aim at the good of the people and the country. The party system
in India has been a great factor in giving meaning and life to democracy. With the passage of time, a
new and healthy relationship has developed between the ruling party and the opposition parties on the
one hand and between the public and the political parties on the other. It is because of the enlightened
Indian voters and political parties in opposition that the government and the party in power have been
more responsive and accountable to the people and their representatives. Obviously, democracy is not
a one sided game and it needs two or more players in the form of ruling party, parties in opposition
and the electorate.
Liberty, equality, justice and fraternity are the very cornerstones of democracy. They are not available
under dictatorship and utilitarian forms of government. Without freedom of speech, expression of
faith, profession, and association, etc. democracy is meaningless. Similarly, right to own property is
one of the fundamental rights under democracy. The Indian Constitution offers all the

Michael Jordan And Kobe Bryant On Equal Footing With The...
Michael vs Kobe
The great Michael Jordan once said To many players in today s NBA, Bryant stands on equal footing
with the player he patterned his game after. (http://www.foxsports.com/) I find it authentically
interesting that if you ask Kobe Bryant he will willing confess to attempting to replicate Michael
Jordan s exclusive playing style. When Kobe was questioned concerning the allegations in regards to
Kobe stealing MJ s style of play this was his rebuttal as a kid growing up in Italy, all I had was video,
so I studied everything, Bryant said. I studied every player. Then once I came back to the States, and I
realized I wasn t going to be 6 9, I started studying Michael exclusively. (http://www.cbssports.com/)
The father son sort of rivalry between Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant is sort of peculiar
circumstance. However, on a surface level it all makes sense. Kobe Bryant has always wanted to be
the greatest of all time so he studied the greatest in hopes of trumping Michaels extensive list of
achievements. Although their similarities are apparent there also some noteworthy contrasting
differences
The first round hall of famer Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York,
as one of James and Deloris Jordan s five children. However, Jordan s family relocated to Wilmington
North Carolina where he would spend the remainder of his adolescence. His father worked as a
General Electric plant supervisor, and his mother was employed at a bank. His

Prometheus Bound By Aeschylus
In Aeschylus Prometheus Bound, Zeus is portrayed as a brutal and vengeful tyrant. His tyranny is
mostly shown through the punishment of Prometheus. Zeus saw Prometheus giving humans fire as
betrayal and as revenge, punished Prometheus by pinning him to a rocky mountain in the Caucasus.
Instead of carrying out the punishment himself, Zeus had Might, Violence, and Hephaestus (who was
also Prometheus friend) carry it out instead. As stated in lines 13 18. Hephaestus was against
punishing Prometheus in such a violent, tortuous way, however, he still did it because he feared Zeus.
Prometheus was bound in an open area, where other gods could easily come to watch. Binding
Prometheus in such an area showed Zeus tyranny because like any other tyrant, Zeus was able to
instill fear into the other gods by showing what could happen if they betrayed him. As mentioned in
lines, 427 430, Zeus s harsh tyranny is also shown through the punishment of Atlas. Similar to
Prometheus, after betraying Zeus, Atlas was forced to carry the sky on his shoulders.

Arthur Miller s Essay Tragedy And The Common Man
In Arthur Miller s essay, Tragedy and the Common Man, Miller in fact is right about his thesis. He
believes that the common man can experience tragedy. The character who experiences the tragedy,
challenges authority; regardless if they are the common man, or a person with power. Secondly,
tragedy can be found anywhere. Even though men believe that in modern age heroes and tragedies do
not occur, there is always a possibility that the common man is able to face the worst of tragedies. One
of main events that occur in a tragic play is an event in which a tragic hero risks their life by
challenging a person in authority. It is unfair to assume that an unfortunate event in the life of a person
is insignificant due to the fact that they do not

The Hitchhiker Plot Analysis
The Hitchhiker plot In most ghost stories, there suspenseful, scary, and thrilling, and which are all
elements that most people find enjoyable. In Lucille Fletcher s the Hitchhiker, a man had a sudden
urge to go on a journey, but this wasn t your average journey. On the other hand, Ronald Adams
repeatedly sees this perplexing man on every road he went on. After continuously seeing this man it
drives him insane. She uses exposition, climax, and resolution as the plot elements, they play a big
role with each other to make this play effective. Fletchers uses exposition to create this suspenseful
play that everyone would like. To begin with Fletchers development of the suspense is the exposition.
The hitchhiker stated I left Brooklyn to drive to California (1001). This is the start of the exposition

We don t ordinarily relate innovativeness with brain infection, yet a recent study from best neurologsit

This survey by top neurologist in nyc unites instances of people with neurological conditions, who

and with exceptional aptitude. For another situation, a 68 year old man had started to paint at age 56

Home Insurance Essay
Make sure you pay attention to how you use your homeowner s insurance policy throughout the year;
you may be able to get a break on your taxes. Here are the top three ways that most people benefit tax
wise from having homeowner s insurance:
Home Office Deduction
If you work from home and have a dedicated space in your home that you use only for the purpose of
work, you may be able deduct part of your homeowner s insurance policy.
If you take a itemized deduction for your home office instead of a standard deduction, you can write
off a portion of your homeowner s insurance policy. All you have to do is figure out total square
footage that you use for your home business and divide that by the total square footage of your home.
That number is the percentage of your home that you use for business. You can then deduct as part of
your expenses that percentage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If your paid $1,000 a year in homeowner s insurance costs, you would be able to deduct $200 of those
costs as an expense for your home office.
Deductible Tax Deduction
Another way your homeowner s insurance policy could help you out with your taxes is if you had any
belongings that were stolen or damaged this year. If your insurance policy only covered a portion of
their reimbursement, as generally happens when you have an actual cash value replacement policy,
you can write off the deductible you had to pay as well as the remaining value of your belongings.
Casualty Loss Deduction
Finally, if your house or any of your belongings were damaged due to a natural disaster, accident or
even a robbery, you can file a casualty loss tax deduction. Once again, this deduction comes into play
when your insurance company does not fully reimburse you for these loses. You are able to deduct the
money that had to come out of your own pocket to make up for these

Personal Strengths And Weaknesses
My second strength is to seek first to understand, then be understood. There was a time in my life that
this section would have been a low scoring section for me. I was once a person that would never put
myself into the position of another to fully establish a connection of understanding from the other
persons point of view, I was too busy. Now I have individualized consideration and I think age and
career choices are the reasons why. In an article by B. Wilson, (2003 2005), he writes that Stephen
Covey, as others, believes that the only way to establish communication in some professional and
personal situations is by becoming, in small part, the person you are listening to . I make every attempt
to do that exact procedure when employees come to me with problems or concerns. I m no longer
impatiently waiting on them to finish their story but now I put myself in their shoes. It s important for
the staff to feel as though they can come to me with issues and this is where the idealized influence
and individual consideration come into play. Listening to the staff and genuinely caring about them
makes for a more pleasant work environment, happier employees, and appreciative people. My third
strength is Synergy. This actually caught me by surprise, a little. Synergy is achieved my maximizing
the driving forces, minimizing the restraining forces, and combining strengths of people through
positive teamwork, so as to achieve goals that no one else could have done alone,

Whittier City Council Meeting Report
The government meeting I attended was the Whittier City Council Meeting on April 26th. I found out
about the meeting on the Whittier city s website. The meetings are open to any citizen who wants to
participate and be informed about what is going on in the city. The Mayor of Whittier is Fernando
Dutra. The council members are Bob Henderson, Owner Newcomer, and Cathy Warner. The meeting
started off with a lot of public attendance, but a lot of people left after recess. There was not a lot of
public participation because the part of the agenda to discuss issues and decisions wasn t discussed
until after recess. This particular meeting wasn t really affected by public participation. This meeting
was not very healthy in the terms of democracy. The meeting started off with Public Comments which
allowed the public to address the City Council and others on any issues or comments they needed to
discuss. Each person got only three minutes to speak, that was their limit. Robert Dahl s criteria,
Effective Participation: all must vote and participate, was really inputted in this part of the meeting.

Robert Dahl s Traditional Democratic Theory really does explain what is needed to make a healthy
democracy. In this meeting, his theory was expressed by the lack of public participation which leads to
the public not being in control. Attendance from the public is very important or else it is just a meeting
between the council. I love my city, but I would not attend another meeting because the voice of the
public is hardly heard so it wouldn t make that much of a difference. It was also very long, off
schedule, and a little hard to understand everything the council was saying. That council meeting was
my first and last meeting I attend. I did learn though how important it is for the public to speak up and

Review Of Writing A Wall Street Op
To begin with, Flash Boys is terrible. It is not just a major whiff, but a travesty. And it really ticked me
off.
Lewis had a major incentive to over hype the story, as he all but admitted. I fully agree with Cliff
Asness of AQR Capital, who wrote in a Wall Street op ed: Making mountains out of molehills sells
more books than a study of molehills. That is more or less what happened here. Lewis wanted to sell a
lot of books. He wanted to capture lightning in a bottle (to use his own phrase). He captured
irresponsible hyperbole instead.
In Flash Boys, Lewis immense talent as a writer works against him. He is a master of storycraft of
telling a complex story through the lens of key players. But when the actual story is distorted ... Show

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, published in 1923, is the fictionalized version of Jesse Livermore
s true story. A key point in the story is when Livermore (aka Larry Livingston) goes from trading in
the bucket shops to actually trading real equities on the exchanges, by way of the ticker tape. In this
book, more than 90 years old now, Livermore talks about how his bucket shop trading style had to
adjust because instant fills were not available in the real world. He talked of a lag in the tape that
forced him to adjust his style. Sound familiar? Liquidity has always been an issue. The more size you
want to move, the more of an issue it becomes. There has always been a need for middlemen to
provide it, and friction / incentive issues in doing so, ever since the fabled meeting under the

In the late 1980s, the Justice department busted 46 traders and brokers in the Chicago trading pits. The
stealing had gotten so bad, the FBI came onto the trading floor. At the turn of the 21st century, the
stealing was still bad. I was an international commodity broker as my first job out of school circa

imploded in a fireball of corruption). I remember countless screaming conversations

A Sociological Perspective
Summary
Economy and State: A Sociological Perspective, written by Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers,
explains the economic foundation of the state by discussing the governance of property and money, in
correlation to labor and firms, ending in economic development and internationalization/globalization.
Bandelj and Sowers , target audiences for this book seemed to be intended for those individuals
wanting to learn the basics of economics from an economic sociology perspective allowing readers to
broaden their minds, while drawing comparisons from the political economy and economic sociology.
This book was written with clear language for the audience to understand and comprehend the large
amount of traditional economic theory information within its condensed size, as well as introducing a
sense of economic sociology in to the mix. Both Bandelj and Sowers separate their book into eight
chapters: ranging from property and money, labor and firms, development and the international global
economy, before its conclusion. Authors Nina Bandelj and Elizabeth Sowers, provide a wonderful
analysis between economy and sociology by breaking down the study of economics including the
production, distribution, consumption, and exchange of goods and services and its direct correlation to
social networks, cultural reality so to speak, and political and social forces. The authors address the
theoretical perspectives of economy state relations while also applying the sociological

Elements Of The CIA Triad
Confidentiality, integrity and availability also commonly known as the CIA triad, is a security guide to
keep information safe in organisations. The three elements of the triad are considered the most crucial
component of information security. Confidentiality is very similar to privacy of data; it is put in place
in order to prevent important and sensitive data from falling into the wrong hands, whilst at the same
time making sure it is available to the people that actually need it and are authorised to it. Data can
sometimes be categorised in accordance to the type and amount of damage that could be done if the
information was to fall in the wrong hands. Certain employees will be responsible for different data
this way only selected people are allowed to view and modify this information. This means that if
anything was to go wrong they would know who it is as it is only a select few people. If organisations
did not comply with this rule then this would enable anyone one to view and modify information they
should not have access to. This could cause a negative reputation for the organisation if anything was

affect the organisations reputation because if they are giving wrong information it will look bad on

Comparison of Mesopotamia and the Indus Civilization
Mesopotamia and Harappan societies have long been compared throughout the history of archaeology.
Mesopotamia, also known as, the land between the rivers, was named for the triangular area between
the Tigris and the Euphrates river, (Nov. 7 lecture). In recent use, it covers a broader area referring to
most of what is now Iraq. This adds ancient Assyria and Babylonia to the scope of Mesopotamia
(Schultz and Lavenda 1995:310). Parts of Mesopotamia were not inhabited at all until approximately
8000 BC when plants and animals were domesticated, bringing about an agricultural revolution. This
allowed nomads and cave dwellers to become farmers and herders.(Whitehouse 1977:129).)
The Indus civilization is often referred to as Harappan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Hawkes 1973:275). The level of grain present would have represented the level of public credit.
(Hawkes 1973:275). In Mesopotamia there were state and temple grain stores, but because of the size
and architectural importance of those at the Indus sights, they are believed to have a greater
importance. (Hawkes 1973:275).
GOVERNMENT
The state in Indus civilization was governed by a centralized government. (Hawkes 1973:263). The
regular planning of Indus towns and cities could only mean that each was built as a whole by an
authority with absolute control (Hawkes 1973:273). Because of the uniformity over such a large area,
it is almost guarunteed that the entire Indus area was a unified state. (Hawkes 1973:273). The two
main sights were Harappa and Mohenjo Daro, and they were the commercial and administrative
centers. It is unlikely that there were two equal rulers, however. (Hawkes 1973:2730). The citadels
suggest a combination of a combined military and religious power. There weren t temples that
dominated the area like at Mesopotamia, only a few shrines have been found in the Indus territory.
(Hawkes 1973:276). We don t know the nature of the authority there, whether it was ruling priests or
kings,(Whitehouse 1977:122) but we know the ruling elite had religious practices of ritual cleaning
through bathing. (Whitehouse 1977:278).
In Mesopotamia we have a clearer picture of the ruling powers which were

Justice In Ancient Civilizations
Since the beginning of time, society imposes us different rules of etiquettes that we need to follow.
Keep your mouth close while eating, be polite with older people, hold the door for ladies etc... These
are actual ones but its interesting to see the evolution of the etiquette through time. At a certain point
in the middle age, it was convenable to burp as loudly as you can after eating to show your host that
the food was good. In fact, the rules of etiquettes are strongly linked with social values like respect.
Other social values were really important in ancient civilizations. Despite the lack of organisation of
their societies, justice and religion were concerns for every leader of these civilizations. In this

As we seen in the first paragraph, many books of law have been created to regulate many activities or
forbid others. Ancient Egypt has their book of the dead, Ancient Mesopotamia their Hammurabi s

base . It s interesting how these texts are advanced for the time they were written. Has a leader, you
need a way to spread these ideas through all the civilization. They did it without printers or social
network, this is pretty impressive. Some surprising policies have been made following this justice
concept. For example, Eye for an eye law was made by Mesopotamians to penalized the criminal by
doing him the same thing he did or something equivalent. In our modern society, we would think this
is horrible and this practice would be forbidden but in these times, it s a way to increase justice and
make their world more equal. Moreover, using a strong military system, Greek civilizations like
Sparta have a justice system based on their military order. Some could say that this is not justice

My family and I bought food and made lunches to give out in local parks. A act that is very commonly

Christian. The people that one meets is quite interesting. I never can quite wrap my mind around the
fact that some people do not have food, the basics. My mind always wonders to try to find a
conclusion on how a person ended up in a position where they have no food. Standing face to face
with a stranger and giving them what they need is one of the most perplexing and gratifying sensation
one can experience. At the very core of giving food to the hungry is that you gave person hope that
day, a chance to continue that day, but yet you know nothing of that person. One does not know what
the persons name is, what they like to do, where their from, what their favorite color is, what they like
to eat. Those questions will always drag my mind into a complete motley of sentiments that I can not
explain because the person is so ambiguous to me. I learned from the experience that people who are
hungry or homeless are quite numerous and that one might never know their story but that very fact is
what makes such an act unique. Giving food to the hungry is linked to Catholic teaching because that

Addison and Burgess 2015, Efland 1990, Eisenhauer 2006, Macdonald 2004, McFee 1960, Jetton and

been a vehicle that assists us in making meanings possible.
The continued success of art education should be focused on studying art through individual
experiences, and development. Also art history and the study of visual culture are meaningless in the
lives of learners unless they are better integrated into the art education curriculum (Mcfee 1960:18).
Although arts education has made great historical strides Efland (1990:263) still questions the system
of art education curricula particularly the educator s way of facilitating skills

A Qualitative Study to Show How Other Affect Individual...
A qualitative study to show how other affect individual development, using thematic analysis.
ABSTRACT This study will examine the ways that adults construct their own attachment experiences
and relationships along and how others influence these attachments and their development. The
chosen method for data collection was interviews as they provide full and detailed data for thematic
analysis. Other researchers studying within the social constructionist perspective with a main focus on
attachment found that attachment relationships are a central part of our lives, which can stem from
childhood experiences through to later adult life. There is also some evidence to suggest environment
influences an individual. Thematic analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of interview allows room for discussion and the opportunity to speak freely in answer to the
questions giving the participant a more relaxed feeling of a conversation not an interview. The
interview was videotaped as well as transcribed (see appendix one for full transcript) this provides the
researcher with two forms of data each of which would not give the complete picture on their own.
The participant was a 50 year old single British woman which ha been provided by the Open

fully briefed before the interview and debriefed after the interview, the interviewer also informed the
participant that she had the right to withdraw from the research at any point and also asks for the

New Public Management ( Npm )
New Public Management (NPM) was developed in response to some criticisms of the public sector.
One of them is to make the public sector more financially accountable since they need to demonstrate
to the government who provides them funding, that the money is being put into good use. They also
need to ensure efficient resource allocation (Peyton) because resources are limited yet there is an
increase in expectations and demands. For example, number of public hospitals and medical expertise
may be insufficient to meet the public s demand. This is because government feel compelled to ensure
that everyone can access healthcare and is therefore, provided at a low cost. The problem is made
worse due to the growth of private hospitals, where quality of services is regarded as superior to
public hospitals. The public medical sector is thus under great pressure to improve service quality and
efficiency.
It is said that the new public management reforms have made public sector organisations more
calculable and accountable. First of all, it is important to define these terms. Calculable means the
ability to measure and assess the worth of something. In our context, it often means putting monetary
value on tangibles and intangibles. Accountable means being held responsible for actions taken and
the ability to answer to those who are involved in the process. Accountability can be towards donors
(upwards) or towards beneficiaries (downwards). In order to investigate this statement

Anime Vs Japanese Appime
Lately, in today society, anime are being dubbed faster than the past. Usually, it takes about a year for
an anime to be dubbed. Patience was killing me more, than waiting for the latest episode. This is why
I prefer Japanese version than the English dubbed version. I prefer subtitle anime because I only wait
once a week for a new episode, it contains the original context and it helps me learn more about the
language and the culture. Japan is an amazing culture that makes you want to visit at least once in
your lifetime. Not only is Japan the country of anime but it also has its own sense of fashion, art, food,
hot spring, tea ceremony, and much more that would peak anyone interested. I was into learning the
Japanese culture when I first started watching anime. Watching anime is one of my hobbies. It is an
animation produced in Japan. A few years ago, when a new anime is released, it takes time for the
dubbed version to be uploaded. Depending on how popular the anime is or how demanding the fans
are, the release dubbed version could take up to 3 months or more. It also depends on many episodes
there are, which could take months or years to complete it. For example, the dubbed version of Hunter
X Hunter (one of my favorite anime) had just begun last year and it is being aired on Toonami every
Saturday at 1 am. The show is currently in episode 72, while the Japanese version is completed with
148 episodes since 2014. Instead of waiting for the new dub episode, just watch the

The Killer Angels Book Review

The Killer Angels Book Review
June 21, 2012 The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara: The Random House Publishing Group, New
York, 1974.
The Killer Angels is a stunning recollection of the telltale battle of the Civil War: the Battle of
Gettysburg. Set from June 29 to July 3, 1863 and told from the vantage points of several soldiers and
commanding officers from both sides, including Lee, Longstreet, and Chamberlain, Michael Shaara
effectively paints a picture of the war that divided America, from the tactical planning to the emotional
hardships The book opened with a sodden Confederate spy as he blazed through the Union lines in the
dead of night on June 29, 1863 toward the headquarters of Confederate general Robert E. Lee with ...

During one such moment, Chamberlain is reminded of a Shakespearean speech: What a piece of work
man is...in action how like an angel! (page 126). Upon hearing this, Chamberlain s father commented,
Well, boy, if he s an angel, he s sure a murderin angel. (page 126). From this interaction, Chamberlain
came up with Man: the Killer Angels , a thought he often revisited over the course of the Battle of
Gettysburg, and from which the book acquires its title. Chamberlain acted with the intention of getting
something positive out of the war. He never treated the Confederates as though they were less than
him: Chamberlain put out a hand. Sir he said. The Alabama man nodded slightly. His voice was so low
Chamberlain could hardly hear it. Do you have some water? Certainly. Chamberlain offered his own
canteen. (page 243). It is even known that he had his troops salute the surrendering South at
Appomattox. Overall, I found Michael Shaara s The Killer Angels an interesting book; it shed a new
and different light on the Battle of Gettysburg by showing it from multiple points of view. I believe
that Shaara was successful in writing in the diction of his chosen narrators; he used slang and dropped
g s for the Confederate soldiers and used proper grammar and British terminology for the Englishman,
Freemantle. I was also impressed by his knowledge of military terms and the effectiveness of which
he used them. The terms were used enough that

The Medieval Religion Of Islam
During the 16th century, Christianity experienced a reformation in arguably one of the most defining
moments in its history, the church was splintered and it was seen that priests and pastures should have
more independent power, the reform was carried by spreading the holy bibles word and making people
read the words literally to see the religion more for what it is. This action helped to kick start the
modern era we now live in by abandoning the worst qualities of Christianity and also its traditions.
Many people believe this is the path the medieval religion of Islam should take; is this necessary and
why?
Firstly, let s look at the problems associated with Islam. It is a medieval religion founded in the 7th

Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom in other
words this verse calls for the mass extermination or genocide of non Muslims and non believers, how
can you then call Islam a religion of peace? There are hundreds of other verses and extracts of which I
could highlight however I think it will be more beneficial to point out the major misconceptions of
Islam and also the best way of going about a reformation.
Following on from my previous points, another catastrophic problem with Islam is the fact that it
attracts a very large number of extremists. Actually according to all of the major intelligence services
across the world, 15 25% of total Muslims are radical, that means there are 225000000 people
dedicated to destroying our very way of life, this is a significantly larger number than any other
religion. You may then say that is still not a large enough percentage to represent 1.5 billion Muslims,
however it really does not matter about the so called peaceful majority. If we look back at history, the
Nazi party was a minority however they managed to kill over 6 million Jews in a horrific genocide,
here the peaceful majority did not matter. The communist regime was coordinated by a minority;

increase the overall efficiency and to reduce costs all throughout the supply chain, thus improving
business competitiveness and profitability (OccupyTherroy, 2015). There are two types of vertical

Overview of the Immune System and Cells
The immune system has dual natures in series with non self/self recognition being the most important.
Other natures are adaptive/nature or acquired/innate, secondary/primary, passive/active, humoral/cell
mediated and some parts or antigen specific. Antigen specific means when it recognizes certain
antigens it will act upon them. Some pats are systemic which is the don t just stay at the infected area
but go through the body and they have memory, so when they come the same antigen again they
know, they will attack it even stronger. The non self/self recognition is every cell has marker based on
the major histocompatibility complex and cells without this marker or attacked as non self. This works
so well that proteins that are not digested treated the same as antigens.
There are certain diseases that break down the immune system and it attacks the self cells. These
diseases are called autoimmune and some of these are forms of diabetes and arthritis, systemic lupus
erythematosus and multiple sclerosis. When the immune system responds inappropriately to
innocuous substances such as allergies, this is called allergen.
The two fluid systems are the lymph and blood system are responsible for transporting the immune
systems agents through the body. The blood system contains five liters of blood which is about seven
percent of a person s body weight. Blood is made of fifty two to sixty two percent liquid plasma and

Essay about Black on Black Crime
Black on black violence is an enormous problem in the African American community. Living in a

black on black violence has continued to arise in many communities and continues to be a problem
around the world. Black on black violence is ignorant, and many black Americans should be coming
together instead of killing one another. African Americans people should be helping each other

African American people should look at these studies and want to make a difference, if not for them,
then for the future of the African American race that have to suffer the consequences for the actions of
others. The cause for all of this black on black violence is the gang violence that has been rapidly
increasing as the years have passed. All of these people that are a part of a gang, go around killing
people because of a street that they do not even own. So many African Americans become a part of a
gang because they probably do not have love and support at home. Since they do not get it there, they
run to the streets to be with people that they think care about them and will give them support. Many
young boys that are from gangs feel, since they grew up around gangs, then they might as well
become a part of one. The boys that are in these gangs think their purpose for being in a gang is to
protect the street they live on. But what they do not realize is that their lives are put in danger when
they try to protect something not even theirs.
Whether in the Black community, or any community, we know that there are some factors that
correlate with a lower rate of violence. Two of the leading ones are: economic stability and strong
social networks. Communities in which people have their basic needs met correlate with a lower
incidence of violence. Both of these will be difficult to achieve until racism is addressed (see reason

Yeast Communication Lab
Purpose In this experiment, we were trying to find out how yeast cells manage to communicate and
thus mate asexually in order to produce offspring. In order for a message to be communicated, a signal
must be sent and then received by another being; this lab will prove how yeast cells go through this
communication process in order to produce a required response for the production of yeast.
Background Information: Both unicellular and multicellular organisms use cell communication in
order to elicit a response which helps an organism coordinate and respond to their environment.
Cellular communication can occur through direct contact, local signaling, or long distance signaling.

This makes sense, as this is a very secure environment in which yeast can thrive. Although yeast can
reproduce when there is only one reproductive type present, best results are achieved when there is a
mix. It is always better to recombine DNA and increase genetic variability than to have many others
have the same DNA. It leads to a higher survival rate for the species, because one genetic defect
cannot wipe out the entire species. Based on our results we conclude that alpha type yeast has more of
the mating factor signal released by yeast cells to asexually reproduce because alpha type had a much
higher percentage of budding haploid cells. We also concluded that when alpha and a type cultures of
yeast are mixed they communicate by both chemical signals and direct contact to sexually reproduce

Issues In The Waiting Room
The Waiting Room is a documentary about the truth of public hospitals. This film follows the patients,

staff work as hard as they can to treat all the patients possible, we come to the realization that there is
a major shortage in the needed room space, and supplies to treat all of these patients in a timely
manner. Our healthcare system is very flawed in the way it treats the people in need, and there is no

Because there is such a high number of people without insurance they usually don t get the treatments
they need, and if they do receive treatment, it usually follows a very long wait, and they are not the
best treatment. But most of these people have no other choice.
We get to witness the real struggle of multiple different patients, all with different levels of severity
for their visit. The first patient that stood out was a father who lost his job the previous year and didn t
have any health insurance for him or his kids. He had to take his very ill daughter to the public ER ,
and because she was on the lower side of severity, they had to wait for hours just to get seen by a
doctor. This story stood out to me because of the time a ill child had to wait just to get any treatment at

Another story that stood out was the man who had to wait in a full waiting room with a bullet in his
leg. This man had a deadly object in his body and he still had to wait for hours just to be seen by a
doctor. He had to wait because the hospital had no room to put him in. Even if you re the first one to

severe your situation is, so they could have a patient waiting in the waiting room for many hours, just

Figurative Language In Richard Cory By Edward Arlington...
The narrative poem Richard Cory written in 1897 by Edward Arlington Robinson. Depicts the
fascinating life of a play boy protagonist who has a perfect lifestyle and has everything that one could
ever imagine, yet despite him being a out most perfect individual at the end of the story he commits
suicide. The poet was influenced with the interpretation towards how many individuals in this world
can assume that those who are greater always seem to have an outstanding life. As a young boy
Robinson wrote to his dear friend at the age of six, questioning why he was born introducing a great
element to his poems because at a very young age his life was tremendously bleak. Throughout the
story the poet utilizes various methods of figurative language such as irony, point of view, and
metaphors to introduce such elements of how life can be so great but despite it being great others can
assume that you re happy but no one really knows what you re enduring. In this paragraph the poet
demonstrates the emotions that the residents feel when they re around the protagonist. Robinson
implies third person point of view as we thought that he was everything. To make us wish that we
were in his place. allowing the readers to comprehend that the protagonist was more than just a typical
normal resident in their neighborhood. Also conveying that those who surrounded him were below
their noble class that to them he was seen as Clean favored, imperially slim. informing the readers that
he was seen as royalty. Despite the residents admiring his presence, he was always filled with a
fluorescent personality. The poet introduces this element he fluttered pulses when he says, Good
morning allowing the readers to understand that not just his physique was out standing but the way he
had proper manners to say Goodmorning to those that surrounded him. The poet allows the
comprehension that the protagonist has always been an outstanding individual.
Although the author describes the emotions that the residents have towards him they still envy him in
the way that they describe him more then what would be expected. Robinson utilizes metaphors richer
than a king to allow the readers to comprehend that the protagonist was very

Free Trade Agreements And The Trade Agreement
Free trade agreements are established around the world by countries to limit restrictions on trade and
investment in hope of benefiting both countries economies. A free trade agreement removes barriers to
trade eliminating most quotas and removing tariffs on goods and services that can be exported or
imported. Many free trade agreements also remove other barriers to trade, like property protection or
restrictions on foreign service provider s industry. China a growing superpower, has the largest
population in the world and has numerous free trade agreements with different countries. China has a
free trade agreement with Australia established in 2014 and with New Zealand established in 2008.
Free trade agreements help Chinese businesses by attracting investment from Australian markets. Free
trade agreements increase export markets for China and lower costs of imports into China.
a. Tariffs
A tariff is a tax on the import of goods and services brought into the country. free trade agreements are
created to lower or remove of tariffs on the trading of goods and services. The tax may vary from a
few percent of the value, to well over 100% of the value of the item depending on its demand and
rarity. This tax is carried down to consumers, resulting in higher prices for these imported goods.
Tariffs are place to protect domestic businesses that are seen as valuable to the economy. For example,

Impact Of The United Kingdom On Britain s Current Issues...
With the United Kingdom being the 3rd European country with the highest GDP it is rather difficult to
assume that issues such as negative economic growth, rising unemployment (Mooney and Scott, 2012)
and consequently poverty would have any magnitude in its territory. However poverty does appear to
be an issue in Scotland, even though it contributes as the 2nd largest percentage on UK s GVA (7.7%
ONS, 2012). With the acceptance of the referendum Scotland was aiming for independence and
therefore taking in its own hands decision making regarding sectors such as the economic one by
prioritizing and making the right decisions in order to tackle issues such as that of poverty. After
September 18th 2014 economic changes concerning currency, unemployment and natural resources
would have an impact on Scotland s current issues regarding poverty. An issue that has been in
Scotland s economic agenda afore the economic crisis of 2008/09 is poverty despite the fact that
Scotland s economy was growing steadily until 2007 (McKendrick, J., et al. 2011). By 2013 Scotland
had a greater relative poverty rate than the UK with 16% , which is an increase since 2007 when the

well as microeconomic spectrums. The four main macroeconomic objectives (high economic growth,

Ethics Of Marketing To Children
Ethics of Marketing to Children Advertisements are everywhere. They are a major part of modern day
society. Whether it be a television commercial, an internet banner, or a billboard, advertisements
influence people of all ages, but they affect a certain age group much more than others. Children
ranging from toddlers to teenagers are exposed to thousands upon thousands of advertisements each

Advertisements also affect a child s own identity because advertising manipulates [children] through
their insecurities, working to define normality for them (Source C). Children, especially pre teens and

identity crisis. Figuring out who one is, is a vital step towards adulthood and independence, and with
advertisements altering children s thoughts and ideas, their futures are not looking as bright. Without a

Thomas Gray s Eligy Indited in a Country Churchyard
Thomas Gray indited a poem that compares to other poems on prodigious levels of kindred attribute,
with some differences. The structure of Elegy Indited in a Country Churchyard is homogeneous to the
four line stanzas of other poetry encountered throughout this semester. Gray utilizes a homogeneous
theme of time in his poem, likewise in Shakespeare s sonnets and Donne s The Ecstasy . Gray s
purport of imagery differs drastically from other poets. To commence, structure is the first thing to
descry while comparing Gray s Elegy to other poems. Gray indites in heroic quatrains, four line

Shakespeare seems absorbed in physical resplendency when reading Sonnet Nineteen. His aperture
line, Devouring time... time is eating up all of earth s creatures. All of the resplendency is eaten up by
time. Gray utilizes the theme of time by imaging what the mundane man of this country churchyard
did during their life. Instead of being upset about time passing, glomming resplendency within the
world, and not capitalizing on the time given to us, Gray is appreciating the time the deceased has had.
For them no more the blazing hearth shall burn, / or diligent housewife ply her evening care: / no
children run to lisp their sire s return, / or climb his knees the envied kiss to apportion. Here, Gray is
reminiscing the times a certain man might return home and appreciating the affection of his family.
Other poets might visually perceive time as an exasperation; Gray optically discerns it as a treasure to
be cherished. When comparing Gray s Elegy to John Milton s Lyciads , we discover a drastic
difference. Both men indited in replication to a death of their friend. Gray s poem reflected mental
conceptions of the past lives of the mundane people found within the country churchyard. He is asking
us to accolade the lives of the people he has discovered in this graveyard. Gray develops relationships
between these dead and nature. In stanza seven, Oft did the harvest to their sickle yield, / Their furrow

Stargirl Character Analysis
There s a lot of people who are conforming and few people who are individual. Stargirl written by
Jerry Spinelli is the book that is about an individual girl and other conforming students. The main
character of this book is a girl who names Stargirl. She is a new student at the Mika high school and
she is known as a strange girl because she always wears weird outfits and she does not behave as other
students. Spinelli uses characterization and conflict of Stargirl to demonstrate that stay in an individual
is good for people who don t want to disturb by others and to force someone to conform would disturb
their life.
In Stargirl, Spinelli uses characterization of Stargirl to show people should stay individual if they want
to do whatever they want. In the beginning of this book, Spinelli describes Stargirl s appearance such
as clothes that she wears. Spinelli describes her clothes as: Several times in those early weeks of
September, she [showed] up in something outrageous. A 1920s flapper dress. An Indian buckskin. A
kimono (20). This description of her clothes shows that they are not appropriate for school. Spinelli
uses the word outrageous and the specific types of her clothes such as kimono to describe how her
clothes are weird. Here, Spinelli shows her individuality because no one would wear traditional
clothes for another country or dress to school unless there is some kind of event. On the other hand, in

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States of America, aptly defined democracy as a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Liberty, equality, justice and fraternity are the very cornerstones of democracy. They are not available under dictatorship and utilitarian forms of government. Without freedom of speech, expression of faith, profession, and association, etc. democracy is meaningless. Similarly, right to own property is one of the fundamental rights under democracy. • 6. Prometheus Bound By Aeschylus In Aeschylus Prometheus Bound, Zeus is portrayed as a brutal and vengeful tyrant. His tyranny is mostly shown through the punishment of Prometheus. Zeus saw Prometheus giving humans fire as betrayal and as revenge, punished Prometheus by pinning him to a rocky mountain in the Caucasus. Instead of carrying out the punishment himself, Zeus had Might, Violence, and Hephaestus (who was also Prometheus friend) carry it out instead. As stated in lines 13 18. Hephaestus was against punishing Prometheus in such a violent, tortuous way, however, he still did it because he feared Zeus. Prometheus was bound in an open area, where other gods could easily come to watch. Binding Prometheus in such an area showed Zeus tyranny because like any other tyrant, Zeus was able to instill fear into the other gods by showing what could happen if they betrayed him. As mentioned in lines, 427 430, Zeus s harsh tyranny is also shown through the punishment of Atlas. Similar to Prometheus, after betraying Zeus, Atlas was forced to carry the sky on his shoulders. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mesopotamia, also known as, the land between the rivers, was named for the triangular area between the Tigris and the Euphrates river, (Nov. 7 lecture). In recent use, it covers a broader area referring to most of what is now Iraq. This adds ancient Assyria and Babylonia to the scope of Mesopotamia (Schultz and Lavenda 1995:310). The regular planning of Indus towns and cities could only mean that each was built as a whole by an authority with absolute control (Hawkes 1973:273). One of them is to make the public sector more financially accountable since they need to demonstrate to the government who provides them funding, that the money is being put into good use. They also need to ensure efficient resource allocation (Peyton) because resources are limited yet there is an increase in expectations and demands. For example, number of public hospitals and medical expertise may be insufficient to meet the public s demand. This is because government feel compelled to ensure that everyone can access healthcare and is therefore, provided at a low cost. The problem is made worse due to the growth of private hospitals, where quality of services is regarded as superior to public hospitals. The public medical sector is thus under great pressure to improve service quality and efficiency. It is said that the new public management reforms have made public sector organisations more calculable and accountable. First of all, it is important to define these terms. Calculable means the ability to measure and assess the worth of something. In our context, it often means putting monetary value on tangibles and intangibles. From this interaction, Chamberlain came up with Man: the Killer Angels , a thought he often revisited over the course of the Battle of Gettysburg, and from which the book acquires its title. Chamberlain acted with the intention of getting something positive out of the war. He never treated the Confederates as though they were less than him: Chamberlain put out a hand. Sir he said. The Medieval Religion Of Islam During the 16th century, Christianity experienced a reformation in arguably one of the most defining moments in its history, the church was splintered and it was seen that priests and pastures should have more independent power, the reform was carried by spreading the holy bibles word and making people read the words literally to see the religion more for what it is. This action helped to kick start the modern era we now live in by abandoning the worst qualities of Christianity and also its traditions. Many people believe this is the path the medieval religion of Islam should take; is this necessary and why? Firstly, let s look at the problems associated with Islam. There are hundreds of other verses and extracts of which I could highlight however I think it will be more beneficial to point out the major misconceptions of Islam and also the best way of going about a reformation. Following on from my previous points, another catastrophic problem with Islam is the fact that it attracts a very large number of extremists. Actually according to all of the major intelligence services across the world, 15 25% of total Muslims are radical, that means there are 225000000 people dedicated to destroying our very way of life, this is a significantly larger number than any other religion. You may then say that is still not a large enough percentage to represent 1.5 billion Muslims, however it really does not matter about the so called peaceful majority. If we look back at history, the Nazi party was a minority however they managed to kill over 6 million Jews in a horrific genocide, here the peaceful majority did not matter. Other natures are adaptive/nature or acquired/innate, secondary/primary, passive/active, humoral/cell mediated and some parts or antigen specific. Antigen specific means when it recognizes certain antigens it will act upon them. Some pats are systemic which is the don t just stay at the infected area but go through the body and they have memory, so when they come the same antigen again they know, they will attack it even stronger. The non self/self recognition is every cell has marker based on the major histocompatibility complex and cells without this marker or attacked as non self. This works so well that proteins that are not digested treated the same as antigens. There are certain diseases that break down the immune system and it attacks the self cells. These diseases are called autoimmune and some of these are forms of diabetes and arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and multiple sclerosis. When the immune system responds inappropriately to innocuous substances such as allergies, this is called allergen. The two fluid systems are the lymph and blood system are responsible for transporting the immune systems agents through the body. African American people should look at these studies and want to make a difference, if not for them, then for the future of the African American race that have to suffer the consequences for the actions of others. The cause for all of this black on black violence is the gang violence that has been rapidly increasing as the years have passed. All of these people that are a part of a gang, go around killing people because of a street that they do not even own. So many African Americans become a part of a gang because they probably do not have love and support at home. Since they do not get it there, they run to the streets to be with people that they think care about them and will give them support. Many young boys that are from gangs feel, since they grew up around gangs, then they might as well become a part of one. The boys that are in these gangs think their purpose for being in a gang is to protect the street they live on. But what they do not realize is that their lives are put in danger when they try to protect something not even theirs. Whether in the Black community, or any community, we know that there are some factors that correlate with a lower rate of violence. Two of the leading ones are: economic stability and strong social networks. Communities in which people have their basic needs met correlate with a lower incidence of violence. In order for a message to be communicated, a signal must be sent and then received by another being; this lab will prove how yeast cells go through this communication process in order to produce a required response for the production of yeast. Background Information: Both unicellular and multicellular organisms use cell communication in order to elicit a response which helps an organism coordinate and respond to their environment. It leads to a higher survival rate for the species, because one genetic defect cannot wipe out the entire species. Based on our results we conclude that alpha type yeast has more of the mating factor signal released by yeast cells to asexually reproduce because alpha type had a much higher percentage of budding haploid cells. We also concluded that when alpha and a type cultures of yeast are mixed they communicate by both chemical signals and direct contact to sexually reproduce with each ... With the United Kingdom being the 3rd European country with the highest GDP it is rather difficult to assume that issues such as negative economic growth, rising unemployment (Mooney and Scott, 2012) and consequently poverty would have any magnitude in its territory. However poverty does appear to be an issue in Scotland, even though it contributes as the 2nd largest percentage on UK s GVA (7.7% ONS, 2012). After September 18th 2014 economic changes concerning currency, unemployment and natural resources would have an impact on Scotland s current issues regarding poverty. She is a new student at the Mika high school and she is known as a strange girl because she always wears weird outfits and she does not behave as other students. Spinelli uses characterization and conflict of Stargirl to demonstrate that stay in an individual is good for people who don t want to disturb by others and to force someone to conform would disturb their life. In Stargirl, Spinelli uses characterization of Stargirl to show people should stay individual if they want to do whatever they want.
