Montgomery College
Project Description
• A.A. degree in General Studies with focus on two transfer
paths: Psychology and English
• 30 courses proposed for development
• About 9,000 students in degree each semester, but
courses potentially impact about 25,000
• Targeted populations include low-income, first-generation
and minority students
Project Motivation
• Desire to access, affordability, and success of students at
MC
• Decrease time to degree completion by modeling clear
transfer paths in terms of course selection and
sequencing
• Focus on various learning styles while decreasing student
costs
• Increasing student engagement
Project Challenges
• Finding quality open content
• Licensing that is complicated, unclear or inaccurate
• Sustainability
• Faculty collaboration
• Creating optimal schedules for target populations
Project Implementation
• Monthly cross-functional team meetings
‒ Focus on academic concerns, student concerns,
research efforts and infrastructure needs
‒ ELITE professional development offerings and faculty
champion support

Project Description • A.A. degree in General Studies with focus on two transfer paths: Psychology and English • 30 courses proposed for development • About 9,000 students in degree each semester, but courses potentially impact about 25,000 • Targeted populations include low-income, first-generation and minority students
  • 11. Project Motivation • Desire to access, affordability, and success of students at MC • Decrease time to degree completion by modeling clear transfer paths in terms of course selection and sequencing • Focus on various learning styles while decreasing student costs • Increasing student engagement
  • 12. Project Challenges • Finding quality open content • Licensing that is complicated, unclear or inaccurate • Sustainability • Faculty collaboration • Creating optimal schedules for target populations
  • 13. Project Implementation • Monthly cross-functional team meetings ‒ Focus on academic concerns, student concerns, research efforts and infrastructure needs ‒ ELITE professional development offerings and faculty champion support ‒ Meeting and updates to various constituencies: Administrators, Chairs, Student Council, Faculty Council
