Competency Development
• Competence development is the practice of developing one or several
competencies in a specific way and in a particular direction..
'Development' refers to: Improving existing competencies.
• Ways of accomplishing this include targeted exercise, gaining additional
knowledge and changing your attitude.

Need and Importance of Competency
Development
• A competency framework defines the knowledge, skills, and attributes
needed for people within an organization.
• Each individual role will have its own set of competencies needed to
perform the job effectively.
• To develop this framework, you need to have an in-depth
understanding of the roles within your business.
• Essentially, competency management helps you develop the skills,
knowledge, and behaviors your employees need, so you can realize the
full potential of your workforce.

Competency Model
• Core/Generic-
• That allow to complete a task in a given context, when
mobilized in an integrated manner.
• Job Specific,
• Job competency is a skill or quality that an employee needs to have
in order to succeed in their role. Managers use them to give feedback,
have development conversations, and delegate tasks — and interviewers
use them to assess job-fit.

• Managerial/Leadership,
• A leadership competency model is a framework used by HR
professionals or senior executives to determine and evaluate leaders'
competencies for outstanding performance. It helps assess leadership
potential, identify training needs, and implement relevant development
programs.
