Cause Effect Essay Examples
Crafting a cause and effect essay can be a challenging task that demands careful consideration
and analytical thinking. The intricacies lie not only in elucidating the causative factors and their
corresponding effects but also in presenting a coherent and compelling narrative that engages the
reader.
Firstly, the process of selecting suitable cause and effect examples requires a keen understanding
of the chosen topic. The challenge is to identify relevant and impactful instances that can
effectively illustrate the causal relationships. This demands thorough research and critical
thinking to discern the primary and secondary causes and their subsequent effects.
Once the examples are chosen, the articulation of the essay requires a structured approach. The
writer must establish a clear thesis statement that succinctly encapsulates the main idea, and then
seamlessly connect the selected cause and effect instances to build a cohesive narrative. The
logical flow of ideas is paramount, and transitions between different causes and effects should be
smooth to maintain the reader's comprehension.
Moreover, maintaining a balance between the depth of analysis and the clarity of expression
poses an additional challenge. The writer must delve into the intricacies of each example without
overwhelming the reader with excessive details. Concise yet comprehensive explanations are
necessary to strike this delicate balance.
Furthermore, crafting a strong conclusion is crucial in a cause and effect essay. It should not only
summarize the main points but also leave a lasting impression on the reader. The challenge lies in
synthesizing the information presented throughout the essay and reinforcing the significance of
the cause and effect relationships established.
In conclusion, writing a cause and effect essay demands a combination of research, analytical
thinking, and effective communication skills. The process involves careful selection of examples,
maintaining a coherent structure, and delivering a conclusion that leaves a lasting impact on the
reader. While the task may be daunting, it is ultimately rewarding in fostering a deeper
understanding of the interconnectedness of events and their consequences.

Commentary on Old Major s Speech Essay
Commentary on Old Major s Speech
Old Major s speech was directed to the animals. It was about over throwing the man
and the animals should take over. It was all a rebellion. In this short essay I will
describe the persuasive techniques used by Old Major to persuade his fellow
animals to follow his dreams. I will include quotes and other important features used
by Orwell. The main part of his speech is on his dream.
Old Major the Middle White Boar chooses the place and the time to make his
speech very carefully. From this we can infer that he has taken his time to analyse
successful techniques employed by other famous speakers from the past. In addition
Old Major has a title and that is he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Comrades are Old Major s main word in the speech to attract the audience to him.
Before he starts the speech on his dream he does an intro on his and says he will die
soon. He convinces the audience that they understand his concerns and that the
animals and him share interests in common and one of the interests Orwell states is
that our lives are miserable, laborious and short. The point of this line is that Old
Major is trying to tell the animals everyone dies and that it is nature. In addition he
establishes his expertise or personal experience to convince his fellow creatures
that the farm will be able to support a dozen horses, twenty cows, hundreds of sheep.
This is also an example of using the list of 3 on a rhetorical device.
Another well thought of persuasive technique is that Orwell makes Old Major use
repetition when he says the seven commandments No animal must ever live in a
house, No animal must ever sleep in a bed, No animal must ever wear clothes, No
animal must ever drink alcohol, No animal must ever smoke tobacco. Old major s
employs a lot of rhetorical questions that he answers afterward one of them was
about a fellow animal called Clover here is the rhetorical question where are

The Political and Social Effects of the Sandinista...
The people of Nicaragua were suffering oppression. This made us develop an
awareness which eventually led us to commit ourselves to the struggle against the
domination of the capitalists of our country in collusion with the United States
government. (Daniel Ortega 1974) As has been discussed throughout the semester
thus far many countries throughout Latin America have experienced a political
revolution in some way, shape, or form. In the early 1970 s Nicaraguajoined the long
list of Latin American countries to experience a revolution when the Frente
Sandinista de Liberacion Nacional (FSLN) lead by Daniel Ortegasuccessfully
overthrew the Somoza dynasty. Many people often times have a misconception of
what exactly a political revolution... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others argue that the changes seen within a society during the time of revolution are
short lived and often times forgotten within a matter of years. Despite these two
differing arguments over the exact meaning of the term revolution one thing remains
constant. At the heart of any definition of revolution the word change can be found.
For example, Samuel Huntington defines revolution as rapid, fundamental, and
violent domestic change in the dominant values, myths, political institutions, social
structure, leadership, government activity, and politics. (Booth 117) On the other
hand, Theda Skocpol defines revolution as rapid, basic transformations of a society s
state and class structure, accompanied by and in part accomplished through popular
revolts from below. (Booth 117) Finally, Eric Selbin argues that revolution and its
social transformation are more likely where popular rebellion has cultural roots and
precedents. (Booth 117) The Sandinista Revolution in the early 1970 s provides a
perfect example in regards to the transformation of society that each one of these
definitions promises. However, in order to determine which definition of the term
revolution most accurately describes the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua two key
questions must be analyzed. First, it must be determined how strong and persistent

Favism Research Paper
Favism is one of the most common inherited enzyme deficiency where, 400 million
people suffer from it. People who have favism and eat fava beans experience
anemia that can often lead to death. Favism directly affects the circulatory system
because many red blood cells are destroyed.Favism is the result of a lack of glucose 6
phosphate dehydrogenase, G6PD, which is supposed to get rid of free radicals in the
blood. Free radicals are molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron. These unpaired
electrons seek a pair with another electron from different molecules and can cause a
damaging chemical reaction, which can lead to the cell s death. Favism has multiple
symptoms, which include fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, headache, fever,...

It was treated through the avoidance of fava beans. If favism is such a difficult
disease to live with, why do many of Mediterranean descent still have it? Favism
actually has helped in the past, this disease saved many from Malaria. Malaria is
an infectious disease that kills more than the 1 million infected. Once infected,
terrible fevers and chills, vomiting, and anemia will follow. It is especially
dangerous for children and pregnant women. Malaria is caused when a parasitic
protozoa enters the bloodstream through an infected female mosquitoes bite.
Neanderthals used plants 60,000 years ago to begin to treat it, and Ancient Greeks
used opium milk. However Favism came around, even with the potential of anemia,
it protected against the threat of Malaria, which was very common in these regions
and more fatal. If Favism allows for the survival of humanity and protection against
even more dangerous diseases, then it will stay in the gene pool. Now a while back,
most survival took place outside in fields where beans, such as fava, were cultivated
for food. In addition the housing situation was not the most sanitary thus the surplus

Life That Inspired My Left Foot
Emmanuella Abankwah November 23,2016 The life that inspired my left foot
The book I was required to read for my English class was called My Left Foot by
Christy Brown. The setting takes place in Dublin, Ireland in 1932. Christy Brown
was born into a poor, working class Irish family in Dublin, Ireland 1932. A victim of
cerebral palsy, he could neither control his speech nor his movements, apart from
his left foot. For the first ten years of his life he was falsely believed to be
intellectually disabled. Christy Brown was born in Ireland in 1932, after a
difficult birth and with a serious disability that the doctors of the time were unable
to name. They urged his parents not to place their trust in him, as he was, they
believed, an imbecile After he was born, his parents then had five other children,
all healthy. Christy s mother, however, refused to systemize him, keeping him at
home and treating him with tender care. It would not be until years later that she
would learn that Christy s affliction was severe cerebral palsy. At the age of 5, he
wrote his first letter , A , on a chalkboard using his left foot. His left foot proved to
the family he was not an imbecile but a human being able to think and express his
thoughts. His mother was resolute to teaching her son the basics of

A revolution is a change or replacement of society or government. A revolution is
mainly heard of when a change in government occurred or in a war like the American
Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was a time of change through technology.
During the Second Industrial Revolution, new inventions were created to change the
way of life. The light bulb was created and the factory business was revived. The
telephone was created and news was spread faster than it ever had. Airplanes and
trains were created and the transportation business was renewed. Although
Christopher Shole s typewriter was not an original idea, his typewriter revolutionized
the place of women in the workplace.
Christopher Sholes was born on February 14, 1819 in Mooresburg, Pennsylvania.
As a child, his family moved to Danville where he grew up. In Danville, he became
an apprentice printer for the Danville newspaper. Once he moved to Wisconsin, he
joined the staff of the Wisconsin Territory s legislative newspaper and then he
became editor of the Wisconsin Inquirer in Madison. In 1841, he moved to Southport
to start the Southport Telegraph with Michael Frank. Then he moved to Milwaukee
and became editor of the Milwaukee Sentinel. In 1861, President Lincoln appointed
him customs collector for the port of Milwaukee. Since Sholes was always busy with
his newspaper positions, he had little time to invent. He became partners in a machine
shop with Samuel W. Soule, and they

about Bumi Manusia (This Earth of Mankind) novel and the theoritical framework.
2.1 Review on Literature 2.1.1 Definition Literature has been defined in many ways
by the experts from time to time. Klarer (2004: 1) stated that in most cases, literature
is referred to as the entirety of written expression, with the restriction that not every
written document can be categorized as literature in the more exact sense of the
word. The definitions, therefore, usually include additional adjectives such as
aesthetic or artistic to distinguish literary works from texts of everyday use such as
telephone books, newspapers, legal documents, and scholarly writings While
Eagleton (1996, p. 5) defined literature as an imaginative writing in the sense of
fiction writing which is not literally true. But even the briefest reflection on what
people commonly include under the heading of literature suggests that this will not
do. The criteria of what counted as literature, in other words, were frankly
ideological: writing which embodied thevalues and tastes of a particular social class
qualified as literature, whereas a street ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Roberts and Jacobs, prose are classified into two, fiction prose and
nonfiction prose. Fiction, originally meant anything made up or shaped, is prose
stories based on the author s creation and imagination which includes myths, parables,
novels, romances, and short stories. On the other hand, nonfiction is literary works
which describe or interpret facts, present judgments, and opinions. It consists of news
reports, essays, newspapers, encyclopedias, broadcast media, films, and many other
forms of communication (1995,
Classical Conditioning And Taste Aversion Therapy
In the early twentieth century, a Russian scientist named Pavlov developed the idea
of classical conditioning a kind of learning which one learns to connect a certain
stimuli with another. Aversion therapy formed on this concept of learning, one the
very first investigations by Charles Elton during the 1940s. This method of
psychotherapy has been attempted to discourage behaviors sought to be socially
unacceptable, such as alcoholism, homosexuality, and other addictions. A specific
type is taste aversion therapy, which is used for alcoholics. The researchers attempt to
get the patient to associate alcoholsubstances with nausea, which is actually caused
by a nausea inducing chemical combined with the beverage. Though the alcohol did
not induce the nausea, the patient will still associate the sickness with the alcoholic
beverage, consequently causing them to avoid any substance of alcohol. Multiple
studies have been demonstrated throughout the time since Elton first investigated it,
although there has not been hardcore evidence that taste aversion therapy is a more
effective way of treating alcoholics and other addictions.

Everyday Use Summary
Life has its Ups and Downs
To start, in Everyday Use characterization shows up in many different ways and
how each character is described. The three main characters that stood out the most
are Mama, Dee, and Maggie. Throughout the story Mama is the narrator and tells
the story about her life and her children. Mama describes herself as In real life I am a
large big boned woman with rough man working hands (744). Also, Mama says I
can kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a man (744). This shows that Mama isn t
petite woman and demonstrates her ability with strong work ethic such as a man
with his strength to get the job done. Furthermore, Mama talks about television show
and how sometimes I dream in which Dee and I are suddenly brought together on a
TV program of this sort (743). This represents her want for her ... Show more content

Mama said I never had an education myself (745) but Dee went off to college. This
demonstrates how times were different and now Wangero does not want to be held
back by old times. Also, because she is independent and intellectual and doesn t want
to be embarrassed by her family. To emphasize, Maggie character shows her being
described as lame animal perhaps a dog run over by some careless person rich
enough to own a car. (744) This shows how Maggie isn t educated with having any
potential. Also, Maggie is an introvert and does not like to talk except to Mama.
Wangero insults her sister by Maggie brain is like an elephant (747) which is
saying she stupid. Then Wangero brings up the quilts and talks with Mama and
Mama said I promised to give them to Maggie, for when she marries John Thomas.

backward enough to put them to everyday use (748). This represents again how
Maggie is viewed as not bright person to not be able to have the
What Is Blue In Tammet s Poem Searching For The Desert
Blues
The color blue has a broad spectrum of usages and implications that have evolved
throughout the years. With its origin from French word bleu, blue is recognized as a
Proto Romance word. Furthermore, blue became popular with its usage in English
only after the 1700s. According to The Oxford English Dictionary, edited by J.A.
Simpson and E.S.C. Weiner, blueis of the colour of the sky and the deep sea, and is
between green and violet in the lightspectrum (323). The incorporations of blue can
be seen in Elvis Presley s song , Blue Christmas, Daniel Tammet s autobiography,
Born on a Blue Day, and in the poem, Searching for the Desert Blues. Although blue
has an absolute definition, blue can have a number of purposes based on the context
of its usage, ranging from liveliness to depression, in which the underlying meaning
of blue can be found.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such case is in the poem Searching for the Desert Blues, in which blue is
mainly used to represent its literal definition. In Searching for the Desert Blues, the
writer expresses, You may search/ the ocean,/you might go cross the deep blue sea
(1) to exemplify determination in finding the desert blues. Blue, as portrayed in
this excerpt, is used to represent the appearance of the deep ocean. Moreover, the
literal definition of blue is also portrayed in Shakespeare s play, The Merry Wives of
Windsor. In the play, Hostess Quickly states Mistress Ford, good heart,/ is beaten
black and blue (1) to describe Ford s current condition. Blue, as used in this excerpt,
is utilized to represent how a person might appear to be after being in a quarrel, due
to the color of bruises and other
Geography In Canada
Geography influences an individual worlds view in many ways. It impacts the
location of where you choose to live and where you would like to have your family.
What you wear is influenced by the geography also, because if the climate is colder
you would have to wear more layers, unless you would live to freeze and die but if
you live in a warmer climatethey would have to wear less layers. Geographywould
also be influenced in what you value, for example if you live in Canada you would
value forests more because we have 9% of the forests on earth. The lifestyle of
someone who lives in japan would be very different from someone who lives in
Canada would. How physically active you are might also be determined by the
geography, for example if you
Hiv And How Is It Different From Hiv ( Human...
What exactly is AIDS and how is it different from HIV (Human Immunodeficiency
Virus)? AIDS is a severe form of HIV in which someone s immune system is
completely destroyed; HIV is a virus that affects the immune system. In other words,
you can have HIV without AIDS, but if you have AIDS, then you automatically have
HIV. The origin of HIV is disputed between scientists; some have theorized that it
was passed down from apes and somehow transferred between humans. HIV attacks
the bloodstream and eliminates the body s CD4 cells, which essential for
countering diseases and infections. Without these cells, the human body is
vulnerable to viruses and diseases. Once inside one s body, the HIV virus first
replicates and spreads itself using the CD4 cells; then the CD4 cells are destroyed.
Once the CD4 have been destroyed, a person s immune systemhas been greatly
weakened that even a simple cold or fever can nearly kill them. Due to this, the
human body cannot counter diseases and illnesses due to the destruction of the CD4
cells and the weakened state of the immune system.
HIV and AIDS is spread and contracted by humans in a variety of ways. HIV/AIDS
is spread when bodily fluids, such as saliva, breast milk, and blood, are exchanged
from human to human. These body fluids are exchanged through human contact,
blood transfers, or sharing medical equipment. Scientists have discovered that HIV
/AIDS is very common among lesbian and homosexual couples; although, it can be
frequent in
Film Whitewashing Essay

terminology; feminism, white supremacy, representation, intersectionality,
stereotypes, whitewashing, and many more. As a group project, my group and I
decided to focus on whitewashing in the movie industry. We researched the history,
impacts, and the importance of whitewashing in society. Our main goal was to learn
different ways to prevent it from happening, and also about the implemented action
plans that are being executed towards whitewashing.

Comparing Summerland And Once More To The Lake
The two essays I have chosen to compare are Peter Jon Lindberg s Summerland ,
and E.B. White s Once More to the Lake. In these two essays both authors talk about
their experiences that started when both men were young (child and teenager) and
evolved into a vacation spot that would become home for many summers. Each essay
describes both the similarities of their summer trips from past to present and the
differences of their trips as well.
In White s essay in the first paragraph he talks about the good ole days when he was
just a kid going to the lake with his dad. He talks about how this lake was one of a
kind and there were no other lakes like this one in the world. White expresses his
love and desire for this vacation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a young age he knew he loved this lake and knew that he wanted to return
every year. On the contrary when Lindberg was a teenager and first introduced to
Pine Point, he says he wouldn t have necessarily chosen it to be the place where he
vacationed. After he experienced it one summer, it was home. He says this
vacation spot lured him back every year just as it did for White. Lindberg still goes
to this spot every year with his wife, where as in White s essay he is just revisiting
the place he once called home for a month.
One of the themes of both of the essays is not the change of scenery or location, but
the content that lies within these locations. In Lindberg s essay he talks about his
annual vacation to Pine Point, Maine. This vacation spot of his has been in his life
for a number of years. In the years Lindberg has gone to Pine Point, he refers to the

Master Of Suspense Essay
Alfred Hitchcock the dubbed Master of Suspense created a theory which revolved
around the idea of shock vs. suspense; this theory was called bomb theory . Within
this theory, Hitchcock identifies how if you place a bomb underneath a table and tell
the audience of the bomb s presence the audience will be waiting in anticipation for
the moment the bomb goes off. The spectator is suspended in a state of anticipation
and fear; hence, suspense. Following this theory, Under the Shadow creates
Hitchcock s proverbial bomb under the table with a literal warhead crashing through
the roof of our protagonist s home very early into the film. From this point onwards,
our sense of control within the film is lost though the undetonated bomb leaves the
film without exploding, a metaphorical bomb remains which we know has go off at
some point. This metaphorical bomb being an era appropriate, authentic horror with a
supernatural being we do not truly understand.
Overall, Under the Shadow is a film which utilizes horror of both the personal and
the natural which causes it to have striking aesthetic resemblance to Jenifer Kent s
The Babadook and Roman Polanski s Repulsion. These three films deal with the fear
of insanity through the use of the other ; the monsters which plague their minds.
However, is there actually a monster or just madness?

Operating Systems And Software Systems
An operating system is a system software that manages and control all interaction
between a computer hardware and software. There are several types of operating
systems, for example, multi user, multitasking, single user and more. The first
ever created OS date back in the 50 s. As computer and technology progress over
time operating system kept evolving. Among the commonly used operating
systems of today is Linux, a Unix like type of OS. Linux creation begins in 1991 as
a software kernel and part of a small project developed by Linus Torvalds, a student
from a University in Finland. Under GNU (general public license), the software
was available as a free and open source and gave everyone the right to access,
change and modify its original design. Because of the way it is designed it can run
on multiple platforms such has Intel, Alpha and more. Like many open systems,
Compared to more expensive operating systems, Linux was an economical
alternative for cost conscious companies that needed to quickly create Web based
applications. When more developers are able to provide input about a system, it
becomes easier to fix flaws and bugs that hinder performance; roll out improvements;
increase the speed of system evolution; and combine an application s components in
new and exciting ways not intended by the original developer. (Ecommerce) Linux
has three major components the kernel, the system library and the system utility.
Some of the great features of Linux include
Getting Rid Of Willie Keepum
I do not believe either is necessary at this early stage as both parties should be given
a chance to change. However, if I had to absolutely decide, I would choose to get
rid of Willie Keepum (even after considering his name hoping the name was not a
hint). First, from a Human Resources and legal standpoint, it seems irresponsible to
fire an entire group of workers. This cleaning house move could become extremely
costly for Manny Flavors CC with regards to lawsuits and future personnel
recruitment and training. Second, I am quite certain the workers are not the
underlying problem. As it is hard to believe that every single one of the workers
inherently has a bad attitude and is unwilling to work. Of course, there are likely
some bad apples but all workers unlikely. The more believable situation is there is
something causing all or most of the employees to act this way poor leadershipfrom
the top. Even if Willie started with a fresh new group of workers, their attitudes and
motivationwould probably decline to the same extent as the current workforce leaving
Manny and the company in a similar situation.
2.Analyze Willie s management style and compare it to others that might be better.
The management or leadership style that Willie uses is autocratic. The autocratic
leader holds all power, authority, and control, essentially reserving the right to make
all decisions. For example, the way Willie micromanages and effectively ignores the

INTRODUCTION:
The Happy Prince is an amazing short story by Oscar Wilde who is famous for
Aesthetics movement. Aestheticism was a cultural phenomenon popular in the
middle of the 19th century. Its basic theory was art for art s sake . Aestheticism
placed art above life and held that life should imitate art, not art imitate life. The
story criticizes badly the people who have shallowness in their character. It also
brings out the life of low class public living in 19th century vs the middle Town
Councillors , The Mayor . The story seems to be directed for children but it has lot to
learn for adults too. It brings out quality of generosity. It shows that a spiritual,
internal beauty is more important than lavish decoration. Oscar Wilde has broad
ranges of knowledge, exaggerate rhetoric and the wonderful imagination in
unconventional ways. In the 19th century the United Kingdom is a conservation
society. Oscar Wilde s unconventional is confrontation with the entire community.
Wilde s inclination to homosexuality is also seen in the quote The Swallow kisses

Getting to Yes Analysis Essay
Whether or not we are aware of it, each of us is faced with an abundance of conflict
each and every day. From the division of chores within a household, to asking one s
boss for a raise, we ve all learned the basic skills of negotiation. A national bestseller,
Getting to Yes, introduces the method of principled negotiation, a form of alternative
dispute resolutions as opposed to the common method of positional bargaining.
Within the book, four basic elements of principled negotiation are stressed; separate
the people from the problem, focus on interests instead of positions, invest options
for mutual gain, and insist on using objective criteria. Following this section of the

Again, I found these guidelines to be oversimplified and completely void of the
fact that human s are inapt to simply putting their feelings aside. Also, following
the suggestions such as using symbolic gestures, an example being to В‘[deliver] a
small present for a grandchild seem to me as a pathetic way of sucking up, and
could even result in a power shift, as the other party could see the acts as a way of
asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are the cause,
the method of separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one.
Also, it makes way for a better relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both
parties feel respected by the other. The second part of the method focuses on
interests instead of positions. Interests refer to the result needed, while positions
refer to that wanted. Again, this is a very intellectual concept to ideal conflict and
negotiation. However, in a world where people always want more than enough, and
where positions can be advantageous, this concept is seems to be unnecessary and
even unfavourable. In the case of a В‘victim in conflict, one can usually bargain

The Value Of Public Education In Australia
The value of public education
Public education gives all students the opportunity to gain a quality education within
Australia. This education is of a high quality and free, thus creating fairness for all.
The value of unions to society
Job security, protection of rights, fairness and equality. Training, welfare support and
advice on work related issues. The assurance of superannuation payments, WH S
policy induction and control. Awareness of essential checks for employees

The support of our public education system and the federation allows for all
individuals to be their best. I want that for myself, my children and all future
teachers and students. Without the public education systems being free we would be
segregating the rich and the poor despite those from low income backgrounds
having the same fight and dreams of those in blue or white collar families, and yes, I
am speaking from experience, my parents and I were parents on Centrelink payments,
and without going to a public school, my brothers would not be the tradesmen they
are today or the celebrity chef. My son would not be off to the best university in
Australia, my daughter would not get to experience state choir, school spectacular
and the many other opportunities public schools provide for not just my children but
others, debating, young leaders, and the list goes on. And without the federation
supporting teachers they would not be able to provide these opportunities as the
union has fought for the recognition of extra curricular support for teachers that
attend excursions, and fairness in pay if they take on multiple roles within the school.
My passion is my commitment, I have wanted to be a teacher since I met my
kindergarten teacher, and I am will to go above and beyond to strive to do my very
best for my students and colleagues, if we don t all work together then we have no
The Tactics Of Combat Civil Wars And Instill Peace
The three main tactics used to combat civil wars and instill peace in an area are
peacekeeping, peace enforcement, and counterinsurgency. The first tactic I will
address is peacekeeping. Once the two parties of a conflict have agreed to a truce,
peacekeepers will come in to guarantee the implementation of the truce and try to
maintain peace. The duty of peacekeepers is not only [to] monitoring troops, but also
with human rights monitoring, protecting and delivering humanitarian aid,
demobilizing and retraining troops, reforming police forces, protecting civilians,
reforming legal systems, assisting in economic reconstruction, and sometimes
administering the entire state until a new government can take over. In other words,
after civil wars, peacekeepers are often charged not only with military monitoring
duties, but with reforming the essential institutions of the state (Peacekeeping, Peace
Enforcement, and UN Reform Lise MorjГ© Howard, P 1 2). There are three ways
that peacekeepers are able to use their power in order to succeed. These three ways
include coercion, inducement, and persuasion. Coercion involves a display of
power, like swagger, to wield off attacks. Troops use swagger in several scenarios.
One of the most common times the use of swagger will occur is during policing,
where troops will patrol the area. Since one of the main doctrines of peacekeeping
involves not using force, this type of coercion has been deemed useful. Even though

How Does The Big Deal With The Devil By Tom Walker
For a story by an author to be signified as a classic literature piece, it requires a
timeless feature which the main passage can echo throughout the ages.
Particularly, a relation to society s behavior and values. The characters, created by
Washington Irving, most especially Tom Walker, gives us an insight on how his
life centered predominantly on wealth up to the point where he is consumed by
temptation. Tom Walker s engagement in a deal with the Devil portrays how
money driven society has become more prominent through the times of the 1700s
and today s world. Furthermore, we begin to identify the characteristics of the
society in the 1700s, through Tom s character and his relationships by recognizing
how he converses with the Devil. Stumbling across the Devil by taking an
unfamiliar shortcut, Tom doesn t see the big deal approaching the devil and
appears to be unfazed. Your grounds, no more your ground than mine, they belong
to Deacon Peabody . In effect, Tom gives a snappy comeback at the devil since he
doesn t believe because he says the land belongs to him that it s his to keep. Due, to
living in a society where superstitions are believed to be true, Tom is familiar with
peculiar situations so much that it takes him a while to realize he stands in front of
the Devil, who appears to be nonchalant. Moreover, they then begin discussing Mr.
Peabody s wealth, hence he is well known throughout town with Tom questioning how
he obtained such wealth. For the
My Grandma
When I think of something or someone that I hold near and dear to my heart, I
think of the one person that I go to for everything. My grandma is that person; she
is my person. Her heart is why I adore her. My grandma would give anything to
anyone, she supports me in everything I do, her kindness radiates throughout her,
and she is the most dependable person I have in my life. I hold my grandma on a
pedestal because she has always held me on hers. To start with, I have witnessed
my grandma give almost everything she had to those who needed help countless
amounts of times, and I have only been with her for a small fraction of her life.
Seeing her put herself through physical and emotional pain to help someone who
needed it gave me a new perspective about who she was deep down inside and what
she meant to me. Noticing the effort she put in to making everyone else around her
happy shaped the way I saw her, and the rest of the worldfor that matter. Growing up,
I watched her carry out her ambitions to aide those in certain predicaments that she
thought she could resolve, and in return, I got to see and hear stories about lives
turning around for the better. My grandma touches the hearts of myself and others by
her overwhelming devotion of making sure the individuals she comes in contact with
are happy and comfortable. She is not afraid to be hands on about a situation that
involves getting a family member through a rough time. Moreover, for a petite lady
like herself, my
Suicide Squad Essay
Despite its highly anticipated and long awaited debut for fans, the DC Comics
motion picture Suicide Squad was annihilated by countless movie critics. One critic
went for the jugular and calls the film, ...a tired image, a stale and meaningless stab
at grandeur (Lawson, Suicide Squad Isn t Even the Good Kind of Bad ). Grandeur ?
What were these critics expecting to see? There was never any misrepresentation.
The movie was not made with any hopes to win an Oscar or a SAG nomination,
nevertheless, for what it is; the filmhit its mark (no Deadshot pun intended). At best,
it may receive accolades at the MTV Movie Awards and more than likely, the film s
stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Jared Leto
(Joker) will gain a golden popcorn statue due to their on screen chemistry alone.
The movie was not created for critics, it was made for fans of the comic book genre

Cultural Dimensions, Business Practices And Business...
Abstract
This paper serves a purpose of examining the Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions and
using such measurement to compare the cultural values of Canada and the United
States. It will look deeper into the cultural dimensions, business practices and
business etiquette. This paper will also provide information of both countries and
where they stand on the dimensions and the reason why. Hofstede decided that when
two people interact with each other within an organization, culture characterizes their
behavior and attitude towards others. Psychology Hofstede had published his cultural
dimension s model at the end of the 1970s. In more than fifty countries Hofstede
studied the people that worked for IBM. The dimensions collectively portray the
impact of the culture in the society on the values of the members of the society. The
description of the relationship between the values and the behavior based on the
factor of analysis.
INTRODUCTION According to one article Hofstede s Cultural Dimensions and
Tourist Behaviors: A Review and Conceptual Framework in Journal of Economics,
Finance Administrative Science, Geert Hofstede is the most well known name in the
field of cross cultural psychology and business (L. Manrai A. Manrai, 2011). By
looking at the dimensions of Canada and the United States, the dimension scores of
the two countries differed very much. Geert Hofstede s first four dimensions rose
from the studies of various employees in different countries. The
Pablo Neruda
When considering authors for a World Literature course, there are multiple things to
consider. You have to think about how their work represent their home country,
what topics they discuss through their work, the emotions they convey, etc. You
also have to look at the author s personal life. What influences the authors writing?
What are some factors through the author s life that makes them write about a
certain topic? One author that would really be important in a World Literature
course is the poet, Pablo Neruda. Pablo Neruda was a poet, but he was also a
politician. Pablo used his writing to express a lot of his feelings and emotions. Pablo
discussed both emotional and political topics in his poems. Pablo Neruda even won
the Nobel Prizefor his poetry. But what influenced Neruda and his writing? Factors
such as his home country, people he met, and his political career played major
roles in influencing Pablo Neruda to write so many of the wonderful poems we know
and love today. Pablo Neruda was born July 12, 1904, in the town of Parral in Chile.
He was born NeftalГ Ricardo Reyes Basoalto, but later he legally switched his birth
name to his pen name, Pablo Neruda. His father was JosГ© del Carmen Reyes
Morales, a railway employee and his mother was Rosa Basoalto, a school teacher.
Pablo s mother sadly passed away from tuberculosis two months after giving birth to
him. Soon after Pablo s mother passed away, Pablo and his father packed up and
moved to the city of Temuco. A few
The Organizational Of Symmetry Financial
This analysis is of the organizational of Symmetry Financial. This essay will discuss
the attitudes, leadership, managerial policies, and practices used by them. By using
this data, I will provide a list of recommendations on how to improve the company.
This analysis will describe the culture, nature of the company, motivational
techniques, mores of communication used, and the emotional intelligence. I will
provide information about the company to ensure the readers understand all of the
different categories used to analyze the company. I will provide information on how
individuals, and groups of people behave within the organization. I will be evaluating
their leadership techniques and how the owners assist in the day to day running of
the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy
employees. It is important for employees and managers have an established plan to
deal with critical matters. They must study the behavior of their employees to decide
how they will achieve their desired goals. Organizational behavior is the study of
human behavior in organizational settings, the interface between human behavior and
the organization, and the organization itself. We can divide organizational behavior
into 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the organization.
The second is the work group which is made by pacing workers into specific groups.
The last one is how the organization itself behaves.
Importance Of A Positive Classroom Environment
A positive classroom environment is a key factor in ensuring student success, we
all preform best in an atmosphere where we feel comfortable. A classroom
environment is more than the physical space, although that plays a critical part, it s
the way being in that space makes the student feel. Currently, I am the long term
substitute for a High School Math II class. While no one element that creates a
positive classroom environment, it is crucial to ascertain the needs of the students
and structure the classroom to meet those needs. The physical layout of the
classroom is standard, the seats are grouped in rows of five facing the main
whiteboard. A smaller secondary whiteboard is to the side, my desk is caddy
cornered in the rear of the room to allow semi private conversations and tutoring.
Math II is a demanding, fast paced class so all the desks face front and are moved
to accommodate group work. Seats are not assigned, and I encourage my students
to sit with their friends creating a built in resource. Seldom does a classroom
disruption occur, as students know that they will be allowed to speak to their
classmates after instruction. This class is filled with High School students who
value their independence, I treat them like young adults unless they prove that I
cannot. I have a few rules that are general in nature, be respectful, be responsible, do
your best. Everything seems to fall into those categories and a simple call down
usually corrects any behavioral issues.
Ancient Babylonian Mythology
Now a days people say our generation is sensitive, but oh boy they didn t know just
how sensitive nationalities so called higher powers were. The way ancient
nationalities projected their beliefs and punishment onto their gods is a very
interesting contemplation. Was ripping people you disagree with to shreds and
using their crotch to hold up the heavens really what people thought was an
appropriate penalty? Or was it just amusing? The act of retaliation is a common
event that occurs in multiple religions. In Babylonian myth there s Tiamat, who
stood against her children (also common, for example Greek mythology s titans
versus gods). Then there was Ra who was plotted against by Isis, who sent a secret
snake to poison him in order to gain
Brainwashing You By George Orwell Analysis
History is known to repeat itself, but do stories become real life? Our future
resembles the past of 1984 a novel by George Orwell. In this novel, Orwell depicts
a new reign of totalitarianism which is Big Brother, using propaganda. Dictatorship
is still vast as well as a present issue in several countries throughout the world,
including 21 in Africa, 18 in Asia, 7 in the Middle East, 1 in Europe and 2 in the
Americas. 1984 uses propaganda, brainwashing, and the erasing of the past to create
a new way of life that Big Brother imagines. Totalitarianism: a system, the system of
governmentthat is centralized and dictatorial that requires complete subservience to
the state. Propaganda slogans are used for fear BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING

A Field Trip At The San Diego Museum Of Man
I remember when I was in grade school we went on a field trip to the San Diego
Museum of Man. It was such an interesting field trip. I remember our tour guide
telling us about evolution and how there was a theory that us humans were once
primates. Then I remember meeting her. They brought us to a room where there
was a partial skeleton in a glass container. There was Lucy. I was told she was the
first of her species to be discovered. She must have made a very large print in the
theory of evolution. Ever since my trip to the museum and meeting Lucy, I have
been fascinated with the whole idea of evolution. According to a journal entry
written by W.J. Bock, he says evolution is the general notion that living organisms
descended down from a common ancestor (2007:89). Over the past few weeks I
have done extensive research and explored the theory of evolution. My findings have
suggested that because of scientific discoveries such as fossils, natural selection, and
taxonomy, evolution has made a significantly strong case.
Most of the research found to support the idea of evolution is in fossils. With the
discovery of these fossils, scientists are able to date them and categorize when each
lived relative to one another. For example, with the discovery of Ardi. As learned
from our textbook, Essentials of Physical Anthropology, Ardi was the first creature to
be significantly similar to both ape and human (2016:262). According to an academic
journal entry by Bernard Wood and Brian G.

Approaches to the Opportunity
The approach taken to both sell side and buy side engagement at FOCUS Investment
Banking is a well defined one. Whilst Project Falcon was concerned with the sale of
a CRO, this report will highlight the process behind both buy and sell side
engagements.
Sell Side Process
There are several motives for owners to sell profitable companies. These can include
emerging alternative interests, elderly age and health issues. Alternatively, the sale
may be a strategic one in which they intend to gain credibility in the eye of angels
and venture capitalists for further projects.
Sale Types

Furthermore, the target list may omit some potential acquirers who could have bid
aggressively (Sale Processes, 2017).
3. The Confidential Broad Auction
This confidential broad auction approach is the approach that is taken in all deals that
FOCUS Investment Banking represents. This is the most likely scenario for middle
market companies as they lend themselves well to broad and public selling
methods. Confidentiality is maintained by taking a blind outreach approach coupled
with confidentiality agreements (Three Types of Auctions for Sell Side Mergers
Acquisitions, n.d). This method will generally bring in a excess of bidders that will
be made up of financial and strategic buyers (Sale Processes, 2017). Therefore, this
process is most effective in a strong merger market such as the CRO market.
Nonetheless, a broad auction may deter potential bidders due to fears of overpaying
for a business (Sale Processes, 2017). Furthermore, a broad auction can often consume
a substantial amount of management s time and attention.
Sell Side process at FOCUS Investment Banking
FOCUS Investment Banking has a well defined and methodical execution process
for its sell side deals (Figure 1).

Animal Farm Symbolism Essay
Popular TV Series such as The Walking Dead , or games like The Last of Us tend
to delve into the total lack of social order at the destruction of civilisation as they
know it, awhile impending evil fictional forces rally against the heroes. Most of the
time, these evil plights are a separate from the humans themselves, by either altering
their mindset by force, or otherwise. Rarely is the plight caused by normal humans.
But when the rules and morals of civilisation as we know it, are stripped past its
foundations; how well do humans change their ruling and social structure to suit?

William Golding s stance in Lord of the Flies implies that humans will often
succumb to their dark and primal desires, and very rarely to their civilised ones
(seeing only Ralph and Piggy considered their civilised mannerisms) (Green, 2016).
Psychologists theorise about a Tripartite or three aspects of the mind. ID which is
a humans most primal desires; and the Super Ego which is the ethical values that
person believes to be right and wrong. These two facets combine to the third,
which is referred to as Ego (Conscious mind) (McLeod, 2016). Golding started to
believe that humans inherent desire is savagely based (Green, 2016). There was a
Beastie on the island with the boys, in which all boys became frightened of. The
Beastie was an imagining of the boys inspired by the body of a dead fighter pilot in
the trees suspended by his parachute. As the boys became less inclined to follow
rules and go hunting, they saw the Beastie more and more often. The Beastie
finally manifested into a physical being as the Lord of the Flies for the boy Simon,
through the form of a pig s head. This Beastie was the metaphor for the savagery in
the boy s minds their ID facet and only Ralph, Piggy and Simon could see past this
to their Super Ego (civilised) mindset. One can also apply this mindset directly to the

Federal Marketing Order On Tart Cherries
With recent controversy over the Federal Marketing Order on Tart Cherries, some
feel it should be changed or eliminated. The topic has gone viral from a Facebook
post generating an astonishing 40,000 shares. The farmer, who was outraged with
the order, made it seem as though he had to destroy the oversupply of cherries. Was
this even the case? Did he falsify his information? One thing that s an obvious fact is
that the importation of foreign cherries needs to be regulated, especially if domestic
cherries continue to be.
With the recent controversy over the Federal Marketing Order an article has been
written by Jennifer Kiel, an editor for www.FarmProgress.com it explains the
difficulties of farming. She has written numerous articles in relation to the Cherry
industry. Therefore, she has a keen sense for the topic. The publisher is News Watch;
the genre is an article within a magazine. The intended audience is farmers,
processors, and general public. The main point is the problem is what is wrong
with the cherry industry. She explains the difficulties of farmers and how many don
t want to go into farming in the future. The purpose is to inform. The main reasons
why she wants to inform the reader is so reader can understand the struggle of
modern day cherry farms. The evidence she used is a first account viewpoint of a
farmer and he explained how hard it has become. He talks about the restriction and
the pros/cons of it. She explains viewpoints of both sides of the
Friction Lab
Friction is the resistance to motion of one object moving relative to another and it is
created when two surfaces move or attempt to move across each other. Friction is a
non conservative force, which is defined as a force that does not store energy. The
fact that friction is a non conservative force means that the kinetic energy involved in
frictionis transferred into thermal energy (heat). One of the method is using a
spring balance which was used in the actual lab and is done by pulling a spring
balance connected to a block and slowly increase the forceuntil the block begins to
slide. The other method that was used in this lab used a tilted plane. In this method,
a block was placed on the plane and then the angle of the plane was... Show more

After the lab materials were gathered, the wooden block by itself and with the
various other weights was weighed and recorded. After recording the weight of the
objects we proceeded to use a protractor to measure the angle at which the block
moved on the plastic surface and that angle was recorded (Repeated 3 times). Next,
the 200 gram weight was placed on the wooden block and was slowly pulled using
the digital scale until it moved on the plastic surface and the force in which it
moved was recorded using the calculator (Repeated 3 times). After recording the
previous results, the 200 gram block was taken off and then the 500 gram weight
was placed on top of the block and the same method used previously was repeated.
In order to find the kinetic friction force, the block was once again placed on the
plastic surface with a 200 gram weight and was pulled across the surface at a
constant rate instead of until it moved and the data from the digital scale was
recorded (Repeated 3 times). Next, the 200 gram weight was removed and the 500
gram was weight was placed on top of the block and the same method used
previously was repeated. This entire procedure was then repeated for the remaining
surfaces for the block to slide across which were zinc, fine sandpaper, and
Losing Your Job Because You Are not an Asset Essay
No job is guaranteed as there are many factors that contribute to how long a person
will hold their current job position. These factors include, but are not limited to:
job performance, job attendance, sexual harassment in the workplace, job safety,
alcohol/drug abuse, and economy. Some of these factors could make working
conditions unfavorable while others could make the workplace unsafe. Employees
who do not follow the policies and procedures of their employers run the risk of
losing their job. The performance of a worker helps determine if he or she will be
an asset to the employer. If a worker performs the job task accurately while doing so
in a timely manner, and possibly showing the initiative to do more than what is

Employees need to practice safety at all times. Carelessness by the employee can
cause harm to others as well as their self. For instance, an employee is driving an
end loader and has stacked boxes on it without properly securing the load. The
employee is turning a corner where there are other employees standing, the boxes
fall off and hit the other employees causing possible injury to the other employees.
This type of irresponsibility can cause a lawsuit to the employer and in all
probability the employee his or her job. Alcohol/drug abuse is another problem in
today s work force. The use of alcohol/drugs can impair a worker s judgment and
safety habits. Most employers now have the right to test you for using alcohol
/drugs. Even use of alcohol/drugs the evening before work can result in positive
results on a test, depending on the amount used. For instance, a truck driver is out
heavily drinking until 1:00 a.m.. When he arrives to work at 5:00 a.m., the
employer conducts a random alcohol/drug test on him and he tests positive.
Depending on the employer s policy, this could be anything from counseling to
immediate termination of employment. Economy plays a role in every aspect of
employment. A bad economy can lead to lack of funding for projects and
employees. When an employer is taking in less income than they are paying to keep
employees changes have to be made. This could be anything from reduced benefits,
City Of God Reflection
Planning of any city is one of the most fundamental things to be considered before
the development of any city or regions. Through planning, economic and social
development in any city can prosper (Crane Weber, 2015). Through films, a
reflection of the structure and planning of the various regions in the setting of the
movie can easily be displayed. One of the outstanding planning and structure of a city
is displayed by the film city of God. The movie assists in exposing the social
networking within a planned community and the various ways in which restricting

consequences which might arise from the poor organization as well as poor planning
of any city. Some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cities in the world face similar challenges in terms of development, culture and
social structures found within them. The characters used in the film are true
representatives of the people living in cities because of the characters they display
such as burglary and theft. Incorporating the film in order to gain more insight on
planning of cities and various regions is important in explaining the development
which can arise from such areas. This shows that the movie is essential in planning as
well as coming up with solutions on issues related to the development

Cause Effect Essay Examples.pdf

  • 1. Cause Effect Essay Examples Crafting a cause and effect essay can be a challenging task that demands careful consideration and analytical thinking. The intricacies lie not only in elucidating the causative factors and their corresponding effects but also in presenting a coherent and compelling narrative that engages the reader. Firstly, the process of selecting suitable cause and effect examples requires a keen understanding of the chosen topic. The challenge is to identify relevant and impactful instances that can effectively illustrate the causal relationships. This demands thorough research and critical thinking to discern the primary and secondary causes and their subsequent effects. Once the examples are chosen, the articulation of the essay requires a structured approach. The writer must establish a clear thesis statement that succinctly encapsulates the main idea, and then seamlessly connect the selected cause and effect instances to build a cohesive narrative. The logical flow of ideas is paramount, and transitions between different causes and effects should be smooth to maintain the reader's comprehension. Moreover, maintaining a balance between the depth of analysis and the clarity of expression poses an additional challenge. The writer must delve into the intricacies of each example without overwhelming the reader with excessive details. Concise yet comprehensive explanations are necessary to strike this delicate balance. Furthermore, crafting a strong conclusion is crucial in a cause and effect essay. It should not only summarize the main points but also leave a lasting impression on the reader. The challenge lies in synthesizing the information presented throughout the essay and reinforcing the significance of the cause and effect relationships established. In conclusion, writing a cause and effect essay demands a combination of research, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills. The process involves careful selection of examples, maintaining a coherent structure, and delivering a conclusion that leaves a lasting impact on the reader. While the task may be daunting, it is ultimately rewarding in fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of events and their consequences. • 2. Commentary on Old Major s Speech Essay Commentary on Old Major s Speech Old Major s speech was directed to the animals. It was about over throwing the man and the animals should take over. It was all a rebellion. In this short essay I will describe the persuasive techniques used by Old Major to persuade his fellow animals to follow his dreams. I will include quotes and other important features used by Orwell. The main part of his speech is on his dream. Old Major the Middle White Boar chooses the place and the time to make his speech very carefully. From this we can infer that he has taken his time to analyse successful techniques employed by other famous speakers from the past. In addition Old Major has a title and that is he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Comrades are Old Major s main word in the speech to attract the audience to him. Before he starts the speech on his dream he does an intro on his and says he will die soon. He convinces the audience that they understand his concerns and that the animals and him share interests in common and one of the interests Orwell states is that our lives are miserable, laborious and short. The point of this line is that Old Major is trying to tell the animals everyone dies and that it is nature. In addition he establishes his expertise or personal experience to convince his fellow creatures that the farm will be able to support a dozen horses, twenty cows, hundreds of sheep. This is also an example of using the list of 3 on a rhetorical device. Another well thought of persuasive technique is that Orwell makes Old Major use repetition when he says the seven commandments No animal must ever live in a house, No animal must ever sleep in a bed, No animal must ever wear clothes, No animal must ever drink alcohol, No animal must ever smoke tobacco. Old major s employs a lot of rhetorical questions that he answers afterward one of them was about a fellow animal called Clover here is the rhetorical question where are

  • 4. The Political and Social Effects of the Sandinista... The people of Nicaragua were suffering oppression. This made us develop an awareness which eventually led us to commit ourselves to the struggle against the domination of the capitalists of our country in collusion with the United States government. (Daniel Ortega 1974) As has been discussed throughout the semester thus far many countries throughout Latin America have experienced a political revolution in some way, shape, or form. In the early 1970 s Nicaraguajoined the long list of Latin American countries to experience a revolution when the Frente Sandinista de Liberacion Nacional (FSLN) lead by Daniel Ortegasuccessfully overthrew the Somoza dynasty. Many people often times have a misconception of what exactly a political revolution... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others argue that the changes seen within a society during the time of revolution are short lived and often times forgotten within a matter of years. Despite these two differing arguments over the exact meaning of the term revolution one thing remains constant. At the heart of any definition of revolution the word change can be found. For example, Samuel Huntington defines revolution as rapid, fundamental, and violent domestic change in the dominant values, myths, political institutions, social structure, leadership, government activity, and politics. (Booth 117) On the other hand, Theda Skocpol defines revolution as rapid, basic transformations of a society s state and class structure, accompanied by and in part accomplished through popular revolts from below. (Booth 117) Finally, Eric Selbin argues that revolution and its social transformation are more likely where popular rebellion has cultural roots and precedents. (Booth 117) The Sandinista Revolution in the early 1970 s provides a perfect example in regards to the transformation of society that each one of these definitions promises. However, in order to determine which definition of the term revolution most accurately describes the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua two key questions must be analyzed. First, it must be determined how strong and persistent are the
  • 5. Favism Research Paper Favism is one of the most common inherited enzyme deficiency where, 400 million people suffer from it. People who have favism and eat fava beans experience anemia that can often lead to death. Favism directly affects the circulatory system because many red blood cells are destroyed.Favism is the result of a lack of glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase, G6PD, which is supposed to get rid of free radicals in the blood. Free radicals are molecules or atoms with an unpaired electron. These unpaired electrons seek a pair with another electron from different molecules and can cause a damaging chemical reaction, which can lead to the cell s death. Favism has multiple symptoms, which include fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, headache, fever,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was treated through the avoidance of fava beans. If favism is such a difficult disease to live with, why do many of Mediterranean descent still have it? Favism actually has helped in the past, this disease saved many from Malaria. Malaria is an infectious disease that kills more than the 1 million infected. Once infected, terrible fevers and chills, vomiting, and anemia will follow. It is especially dangerous for children and pregnant women. Malaria is caused when a parasitic protozoa enters the bloodstream through an infected female mosquitoes bite. Neanderthals used plants 60,000 years ago to begin to treat it, and Ancient Greeks used opium milk. However Favism came around, even with the potential of anemia, it protected against the threat of Malaria, which was very common in these regions and more fatal. If Favism allows for the survival of humanity and protection against even more dangerous diseases, then it will stay in the gene pool. Now a while back, most survival took place outside in fields where beans, such as fava, were cultivated for food. In addition the housing situation was not the most sanitary thus the surplus of mosquitoes whom all have the potential of carrying malaria. Malaria killed many yet people with favism managed to survive. This disease saved humanity thus it will stay in our gene
  • 6. Life That Inspired My Left Foot Emmanuella Abankwah November 23,2016 The life that inspired my left foot The book I was required to read for my English class was called My Left Foot by Christy Brown. The setting takes place in Dublin, Ireland in 1932. Christy Brown was born into a poor, working class Irish family in Dublin, Ireland 1932. A victim of cerebral palsy, he could neither control his speech nor his movements, apart from his left foot. For the first ten years of his life he was falsely believed to be intellectually disabled. Christy Brown was born in Ireland in 1932, after a difficult birth and with a serious disability that the doctors of the time were unable to name. They urged his parents not to place their trust in him, as he was, they believed, an imbecile After he was born, his parents then had five other children, all healthy. Christy s mother, however, refused to systemize him, keeping him at home and treating him with tender care. It would not be until years later that she would learn that Christy s affliction was severe cerebral palsy. At the age of 5, he wrote his first letter , A , on a chalkboard using his left foot. His left foot proved to the family he was not an imbecile but a human being able to think and express his thoughts. His mother was resolute to teaching her son the basics of
  • 7. Christopher Sholes and the Typewriter Christopher Sholes and the Typewriter A revolution is a change or replacement of society or government. A revolution is mainly heard of when a change in government occurred or in a war like the American Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was a time of change through technology. During the Second Industrial Revolution, new inventions were created to change the way of life. The light bulb was created and the factory business was revived. The telephone was created and news was spread faster than it ever had. Airplanes and trains were created and the transportation business was renewed. Although Christopher Shole s typewriter was not an original idea, his typewriter revolutionized the place of women in the workplace. Christopher Sholes was born on February 14, 1819 in Mooresburg, Pennsylvania. As a child, his family moved to Danville where he grew up. In Danville, he became an apprentice printer for the Danville newspaper. Once he moved to Wisconsin, he joined the staff of the Wisconsin Territory s legislative newspaper and then he became editor of the Wisconsin Inquirer in Madison. In 1841, he moved to Southport to start the Southport Telegraph with Michael Frank. Then he moved to Milwaukee and became editor of the Milwaukee Sentinel. In 1861, President Lincoln appointed him customs collector for the port of Milwaukee. Since Sholes was always busy with his newspaper positions, he had little time to invent. He became partners in a machine shop with Samuel W. Soule, and they

Moreover, it explains briefly about Bumi Manusia (This Earth of Mankind) novel and the theoritical framework. 2.1 Review on Literature 2.1.1 Definition Literature has been defined in many ways by the experts from time to time. Klarer (2004: 1) stated that in most cases, literature is referred to as the entirety of written expression, with the restriction that not every written document can be categorized as literature in the more exact sense of the word. The definitions, therefore, usually include additional adjectives such as aesthetic or artistic to distinguish literary works from texts of everyday use such as telephone books, newspapers, legal documents, and scholarly writings While Eagleton (1996, p. 5) defined literature as an imaginative writing in the sense of fiction writing which is not literally true. But even the briefest reflection on what people commonly include under the heading of literature suggests that this will not do. The criteria of what counted as literature, in other words, were frankly ideological: writing which embodied thevalues and tastes of a particular social class qualified as literature, whereas a street ... Classical Conditioning And Taste Aversion Therapy In the early twentieth century, a Russian scientist named Pavlov developed the idea of classical conditioning a kind of learning which one learns to connect a certain stimuli with another. Aversion therapy formed on this concept of learning, one the very first investigations by Charles Elton during the 1940s. This method of psychotherapy has been attempted to discourage behaviors sought to be socially unacceptable, such as alcoholism, homosexuality, and other addictions. A specific type is taste aversion therapy, which is used for alcoholics. The researchers attempt to get the patient to associate alcoholsubstances with nausea, which is actually caused by a nausea inducing chemical combined with the beverage. Though the alcohol did not induce the nausea, the patient will still associate the sickness with the alcoholic beverage, consequently causing them to avoid any substance of alcohol. Multiple studies have been demonstrated throughout the time since Elton first investigated it, although there has not been hardcore evidence that taste aversion therapy is a more effective way of treating alcoholics and other addictions. The three main characters that stood out the most are Mama, Dee, and Maggie. Throughout the story Mama is the narrator and tells the story about her life and her children. With its origin from French word bleu, blue is recognized as a Proto Romance word. Furthermore, blue became popular with its usage in English only after the 1700s. According to The Oxford English Dictionary, edited by J.A. Simpson and E.S.C. Weiner, blueis of the colour of the sky and the deep sea, and is between green and violet in the lightspectrum (323). AIDS is a severe form of HIV in which someone s immune system is completely destroyed; HIV is a virus that affects the immune system. In other words, you can have HIV without AIDS, but if you have AIDS, then you automatically have HIV. The origin of HIV is disputed between scientists; some have theorized that it was passed down from apes and somehow transferred between humans. HIV attacks the bloodstream and eliminates the body s CD4 cells, which essential for countering diseases and infections. Without these cells, the human body is vulnerable to viruses and diseases. Once inside one s body, the HIV virus first replicates and spreads itself using the CD4 cells; then the CD4 cells are destroyed. Once the CD4 have been destroyed, a person s immune systemhas been greatly weakened that even a simple cold or fever can nearly kill them. Due to this, the human body cannot counter diseases and illnesses due to the destruction of the CD4 cells and the weakened state of the immune system. HIV and AIDS is spread and contracted by humans in a variety of ways. HIV/AIDS is spread when bodily fluids, such as saliva, breast milk, and blood, are exchanged from human to human. • 16. Master Of Suspense Essay Alfred Hitchcock the dubbed Master of Suspense created a theory which revolved around the idea of shock vs. suspense; this theory was called bomb theory . Within this theory, Hitchcock identifies how if you place a bomb underneath a table and tell the audience of the bomb s presence the audience will be waiting in anticipation for the moment the bomb goes off. The spectator is suspended in a state of anticipation and fear; hence, suspense. Following this theory, Under the Shadow creates Hitchcock s proverbial bomb under the table with a literal warhead crashing through the roof of our protagonist s home very early into the film. From this point onwards, our sense of control within the film is lost though the undetonated bomb leaves the film without exploding, a metaphorical bomb remains which we know has go off at some point. Because of the way it is designed it can run on multiple platforms such has Intel, Alpha and more. Like many open systems, Compared to more expensive operating systems, Linux was an economical alternative for cost conscious companies that needed to quickly create Web based applications. When more developers are able to provide input about a system, it becomes easier to fix flaws and bugs that hinder performance; roll out improvements; increase the speed of system evolution; and combine an application s components in new and exciting ways not intended by the original developer. However, if I had to absolutely decide, I would choose to get rid of Willie Keepum (even after considering his name hoping the name was not a hint). First, from a Human Resources and legal standpoint, it seems irresponsible to fire an entire group of workers. This cleaning house move could become extremely costly for Manny Flavors CC with regards to lawsuits and future personnel recruitment and training. Second, I am quite certain the workers are not the underlying problem. As it is hard to believe that every single one of the workers inherently has a bad attitude and is unwilling to work. Also, following the suggestions such as using symbolic gestures, an example being to В‘[deliver] a small present for a grandchild seem to me as a pathetic way of sucking up, and could even result in a power shift, as the other party could see the acts as a way of asking for pity. Either way, aside from such conflicts where feelings are the cause, the method of separating the people from the problem is a very intelligent one. Also, it makes way for a better relationship at the end of the negotiations, as both parties feel respected by the other. The second part of the method focuses on interests instead of positions. • 24. The Tactics Of Combat Civil Wars And Instill Peace The three main tactics used to combat civil wars and instill peace in an area are peacekeeping, peace enforcement, and counterinsurgency. The first tactic I will address is peacekeeping. Once the two parties of a conflict have agreed to a truce, peacekeepers will come in to guarantee the implementation of the truce and try to maintain peace. The duty of peacekeepers is not only [to] monitoring troops, but also with human rights monitoring, protecting and delivering humanitarian aid, demobilizing and retraining troops, reforming police forces, protecting civilians, reforming legal systems, assisting in economic reconstruction, and sometimes administering the entire state until a new government can take over. In other words, after civil wars, peacekeepers are often charged not only with military monitoring duties, but with reforming the essential institutions of the state (Peacekeeping, Peace Enforcement, and UN Reform Lise MorjГ© Howard, P 1 2). There are three ways that peacekeepers are able to use their power in order to succeed. These three ways include coercion, inducement, and persuasion. Coercion involves a display of power, like swagger, to wield off attacks. Troops use swagger in several scenarios. One of the most common times the use of swagger will occur is during policing, where troops will patrol the area. Since one of the main doctrines of peacekeeping involves not using force, this type of coercion has been deemed useful. Even though the majority of the time

A classroom environment is more than the physical space, although that plays a critical part, it s the way being in that space makes the student feel. Currently, I am the long term substitute for a High School Math II class. While no one element that creates a positive classroom environment, it is crucial to ascertain the needs of the students and structure the classroom to meet those needs. The physical layout of the classroom is standard, the seats are grouped in rows of five facing the main whiteboard. A smaller secondary whiteboard is to the side, my desk is caddy cornered in the rear of the room to allow semi private conversations and tutoring. Math II is a demanding, fast paced class so all the desks face front and are moved to accommodate group work. Seats are not assigned, and I encourage my students to sit with their friends creating a built in resource. Seldom does a classroom disruption occur, as students know that they will be allowed to speak to their classmates after instruction. This class is filled with High School students who value their independence, I treat them like young adults unless they prove that I cannot. I have a few rules that are general in nature, be respectful, be responsible, do your best. I remember our tour guide telling us about evolution and how there was a theory that us humans were once primates. Then I remember meeting her. They brought us to a room where there was a partial skeleton in a glass container. There was Lucy. I was told she was the first of her species to be discovered. She must have made a very large print in the theory of evolution. Ever since my trip to the museum and meeting Lucy, I have been fascinated with the whole idea of evolution. According to a journal entry written by W.J. Bock, he says evolution is the general notion that living organisms descended down from a common ancestor (2007:89). Over the past few weeks I have done extensive research and explored the theory of evolution. My findings have suggested that because of scientific discoveries such as fossils, natural selection, and taxonomy, evolution has made a significantly strong case. Most of the research found to support the idea of evolution is in fossils. With the discovery of these fossils, scientists are able to date them and categorize when each lived relative to one another. For example, with the discovery of Ardi. Approaches to the Opportunity The approach taken to both sell side and buy side engagement at FOCUS Investment Banking is a well defined one. Whilst Project Falcon was concerned with the sale of a CRO, this report will highlight the process behind both buy and sell side engagements. Sell Side Process There are several motives for owners to sell profitable companies. These can include emerging alternative interests, elderly age and health issues. Alternatively, the sale may be a strategic one in which they intend to gain credibility in the eye of angels and venture capitalists for further projects. Furthermore, the target list may omit some potential acquirers who could have bid aggressively (Sale Processes, 2017). 3. The Confidential Broad Auction This confidential broad auction approach is the approach that is taken in all deals that FOCUS Investment Banking represents. This is the most likely scenario for middle market companies as they lend themselves well to broad and public selling methods. Confidentiality is maintained by taking a blind outreach approach coupled with confidentiality agreements (Three Types of Auctions for Sell Side Mergers Acquisitions, n.d). This method will generally bring in a excess of bidders that will be made up of financial and strategic buyers (Sale Processes, 2017). Therefore, this process is most effective in a strong merger market such as the CRO market. Nonetheless, a broad auction may deter potential bidders due to fears of overpaying for a business (Sale Processes, 2017). Furthermore, a broad auction can often consume a substantial amount of management s time and attention. Sell Side process at FOCUS Investment Banking FOCUS Investment Banking has a well defined and methodical execution process for its sell side deals (Figure 1). Figure 1: The sell side process

Most of the time, these evil plights are a separate from the humans themselves, by either altering their mindset by force, or otherwise. Rarely is the plight caused by normal humans. William Golding s stance in Lord of the Flies implies that humans will often succumb to their dark and primal desires, and very rarely to their civilised ones (seeing only Ralph and Piggy considered their civilised mannerisms) (Green, 2016). Psychologists theorise about a Tripartite or three aspects of the mind. ID which is a humans most primal desires; and the Super Ego which is the ethical values that person believes to be right and wrong. These two facets combine to the third, which is referred to as Ego (Conscious mind) (McLeod, 2016). Golding started to believe that humans inherent desire is savagely based (Green, 2016). There was a Beastie on the island with the boys, in which all boys became frightened of. The Beastie was an imagining of the boys inspired by the body of a dead fighter pilot in the trees suspended by his parachute. As the boys became less inclined to follow rules and go hunting, they saw the Beastie more and more often. The Beastie finally manifested into a physical being as the Lord of the Flies for the boy Simon, through the form of a pig s head. This Beastie was the metaphor for the savagery in the boy s minds their ID facet and only Ralph, Piggy and Simon could see past this to their Super Ego (civilised) mindset. One can also apply this mindset directly to the characters

  • 39. Friction Lab Friction is the resistance to motion of one object moving relative to another and it is created when two surfaces move or attempt to move across each other. Friction is a non conservative force, which is defined as a force that does not store energy. The fact that friction is a non conservative force means that the kinetic energy involved in frictionis transferred into thermal energy (heat). One of the method is using a spring balance which was used in the actual lab and is done by pulling a spring balance connected to a block and slowly increase the forceuntil the block begins to slide. The other method that was used in this lab used a tilted plane. In this method, a block was placed on the plane and then the angle of the plane was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the lab materials were gathered, the wooden block by itself and with the various other weights was weighed and recorded. After recording the weight of the objects we proceeded to use a protractor to measure the angle at which the block moved on the plastic surface and that angle was recorded (Repeated 3 times). Next, the 200 gram weight was placed on the wooden block and was slowly pulled using the digital scale until it moved on the plastic surface and the force in which it moved was recorded using the calculator (Repeated 3 times). After recording the previous results, the 200 gram block was taken off and then the 500 gram weight was placed on top of the block and the same method used previously was repeated. In order to find the kinetic friction force, the block was once again placed on the plastic surface with a 200 gram weight and was pulled across the surface at a constant rate instead of until it moved and the data from the digital scale was recorded (Repeated 3 times). Next, the 200 gram weight was removed and the 500 gram was weight was placed on top of the block and the same method used previously was repeated. This entire procedure was then repeated for the remaining surfaces for the block to slide across which were zinc, fine sandpaper, and
  • 40. Losing Your Job Because You Are not an Asset Essay No job is guaranteed as there are many factors that contribute to how long a person will hold their current job position. Some of these factors could make working conditions unfavorable while others could make the workplace unsafe. Employees need to practice safety at all times. Carelessness by the employee can cause harm to others as well as their self. For instance, an employee is driving an end loader and has stacked boxes on it without properly securing the load. The employee is turning a corner where there are other employees standing, the boxes fall off and hit the other employees causing possible injury to the other employees. This type of irresponsibility can cause a lawsuit to the employer and in all probability the employee his or her job. Alcohol/drug abuse is another problem in today s work force. The use of alcohol/drugs can impair a worker s judgment and safety habits. Most employers now have the right to test you for using alcohol /drugs. Even use of alcohol/drugs the evening before work can result in positive results on a test, depending on the amount used. For instance, a truck driver is out heavily drinking until 1:00 a.m.. When he arrives to work at 5:00 a.m., the employer conducts a random alcohol/drug test on him and he tests positive. Depending on the employer s policy, this could be anything from counseling to immediate termination of employment. Economy plays a role in every aspect of employment. A bad economy can lead to lack of funding for projects and employees. When an employer is taking in less income than they are paying to keep employees changes have to be made.
