Learn how acupuncture can help diagnose, treat, and prevent certain conditions and diseases, including chronic pain, asthma, allergies, insomnia, hot flashes and stress. Our acupuncturist will demonstrate acupuncture and describe how the ancient techniques can be used with traditional medicine to help you maintain wellness.
Acupressure is an ancient healing art of traditional Chinese medicine that uses finger pressure on key points (called acupoints) on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. It’s considered a form of massage therapy or bodywork. In acupressure, local symptoms are considered an expression of the condition of the body as a whole (mind, body, and spirit). Acupressure sessions focus not only on relieving discomfort, but also on reducing tensions and toxicities in the body before they develop into an illness
Do you wonder what's the fuss about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)? Do you want to know how to get healthier, treat pain, improve your energy, prevent disease, and manage illness?
What is Acupuncture? How Does Acupuncture Work? Acupuncture is a holistic therapy that restores health and vitality through the body's own healing mechanisms.

TCM qigong and self-healing in cancer recovery qigong4us
Most current cancer treatments focus on the cancer itself, but little on the internal environment that cultivated cancer growth in the first place, such as the stress and anxiety, cancer-phobia, emotional disturbance, relationship issues, life-style, nutrition, and purpose in life, etc. which may lead to cancer growth or recurrence. The self-healing retreat in University of Maryland is going to introduce the latest breakthrough in cancer therapy – YOU (the patient’s self-care and self-empowerment)!

New Directions in Targeted Therapeutic Approaches for Older Adults With Mantl...i3 Health
i3 Health is pleased to make the speaker slides from this activity available for use as a non-accredited self-study or teaching resource.
This slide deck presented by Dr. Kami Maddocks, Professor-Clinical in the Division of Hematology and
Associate Division Director for Ambulatory Operations
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, will provide insight into new directions in targeted therapeutic approaches for older adults with mantle cell lymphoma.
STATEMENT OF NEED
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare, aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) accounting for 5% to 7% of all lymphomas. Its prognosis ranges from indolent disease that does not require treatment for years to very aggressive disease, which is associated with poor survival (Silkenstedt et al, 2021). Typically, MCL is diagnosed at advanced stage and in older patients who cannot tolerate intensive therapy (NCCN, 2022). Although recent advances have slightly increased remission rates, recurrence and relapse remain very common, leading to a median overall survival between 3 and 6 years (LLS, 2021). Though there are several effective options, progress is still needed towards establishing an accepted frontline approach for MCL (Castellino et al, 2022). Treatment selection and management of MCL are complicated by the heterogeneity of prognosis, advanced age and comorbidities of patients, and lack of an established standard approach for treatment, making it vital that clinicians be familiar with the latest research and advances in this area. In this activity chaired by Michael Wang, MD, Professor in the Department of Lymphoma & Myeloma at MD Anderson Cancer Center, expert faculty will discuss prognostic factors informing treatment, the promising results of recent trials in new therapeutic approaches, and the implications of treatment resistance in therapeutic selection for MCL.
Target Audience
Hematology/oncology fellows, attending faculty, and other health care professionals involved in the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Learning Objectives
1.) Identify clinical and biological prognostic factors that can guide treatment decision making for older adults with MCL
2.) Evaluate emerging data on targeted therapeutic approaches for treatment-naive and relapsed/refractory MCL and their applicability to older adults
3.) Assess mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies for MCL and their implications for treatment selection
New Drug Discovery and Development .....NEHA GUPTA

7. Recognizing The DiseaseRecognizing The Disease
The practitioner has the important task of analyzing the disease so that a
right treatment could be applied. The methods of approaching any
imbalance are by Observing, Listening, Asking and Feeling.
Observing the Spirit, Body, Demeanor, Head and Face, Skin, and Tongue.
Listening to the Voice, Breath and cough.
Asking is the conversation between the practitioner and the patient. Its aim
is to find out how the problem arose, the living conditions of the patient, the
environment, including the emotional environment and family environment.
The goal of this investigation is, ultimately, to find the cause of disease,
in order for the patient and practitioner to work together to try and eliminate
it or minimize it.
Feeling is mainly the palpitation of the pulse, however palpitation of various
points are also considered. Feeling the pulse is an extremely complex
subject. It can give the practitioner a great deal of valuable information about
the internal condition of the patient.
The general consensus is that there are twenty-eight different kinds of
pulse. Each of which can give the practitioner a great insight to the solution
of the disease.

10. How does acupuncture workHow does acupuncture work??
There are probably several mechanisms of action of
acupuncture. Three basic concepts are commonly
used today to explain acupuncture's benefits:
Acupuncture alters body chemicals, including
stimulating natural painkillers.
Acupuncture sensations affect nerves and cause
beneficial reflex responses, and possibly repatterning
of the nervous system.
Acupuncture affects the body's natural
electromagnetic fields.

Music is often used as a technique to aid visualization or

37. VisualizationVisualization
The use of imagery, or visualization, aims to focus the
mind to enhance body functions and processes.
It can sometimes ease nausea, pain, and anxiety. You
can do it on your own or with the help of a trained
therapist.
Visualization may involve:
mentally picturing a state of being healthy;
imagining yourself at a beautiful, restful place, like a
beach or waterfall; or
seeing yourself doing something active and enjoyable,
such as swimming or running
38. OsteopathyOsteopathy
Osteopathy is a way of detecting and treating damaged parts of the body such as muscles, ligaments,
nerves and joints
proper manual manipulation releases the body’s own healing powers which then are able to restore the
joints or tissue being treated to normal functioning.
skilled osteopath uses therapeutic touch alone to locate the malfunctioning body part, then gently
manipulates that body part using the right amount of pressure in the right place at the right time in the right
way.
Osteopathy specialises in the manipulation of the fascia thatpermeates, divides and subdivides all parts of
the body surrounding muscles, arteries, veins and lymphatics, and supports a network of nerves around
those body tissues
Cranial osteopathy is based on the subtle involuntary mechanisms or rhythms which can be felt with a very
finely developed sense of touch and, generally, through the use of an elaborate adjustable "lift" massage
table which allows the practitioner to position the hands, arms and shoulders of the practitioner with a
sufficiently relaxed angle (attitude) that the rhythms can be felt.
From the experienced cranial osteopath, pulses in hydrostatic pressure can be initiated by pulsing the
pressure of the practitioner's palms and fingers on the head and neck of the patient. The practitioner's own
neurotransmitters are said by many practitioners to be somehow "activated" as the practitioner's fingers and
palms find and settle in on locations on the patient's head which have an electrostatic presence. Treatments
are generally weekly and continue until cranial osteopathy has re-established the rhythmic movement of the
plates which together form the skull.
Visceral osteopathy the mobility and motility of the organs and structures within the pelvis including the
reproductive organs
Factors such as surgery, hormonal disorders, and fibroids can all influence the mobility of the tissues,
particularly in the uterus The resulting congestion and mechanical problems can in turn, lead to infertility
The idea is that both somato-visceral and viscero-somatic connections exist between internal organs, and
manipulation of the somatic system can affect the visceral system (and vice-versa).
It rely on the interconnection synchronicity between the motion of all the organs and structures of the body,
and that at optimal health this harmonious relationship remains stable despite the body's endless varieties of
motion.
39. ChiropracticChiropractic
The term "chiropractic" combines the Greek words cheir (hand)
and praxis (action) to describe a treatment done by hand.
The brain "talks" to the body via the nerve supply, much as we
communicate over a telephone line.
It emphasizes manual therapy including spinal adjustment and
other joint and soft-tissue manipulation
While some procedures associated with chiropractic care can be
traced back to ancient times, the modern profession of chiropractic
was founded by Daniel David Palmer in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa.
Palmer
vertebral subluxations caused pinched nerves in the intervertebral
spaces in favor of subluxations causing altered nerve vibration,
either too tense or too slack, affecting the tone (health) of the end
organ
It involves using the hands or a device to apply a controlled,
sudden force to a joint, moving it beyond its passive range of
motion. The goal is to increase the range and quality of motion in
the area being treated and to aid in restoring health. Other hands-
on therapies such as mobilization (movement of a joint within its
usual range of motion) also may be used.
Therapy aims to normalize this relationship between structure and
function and assist the body as it heals
Although chiropractic care is not a treatment for infertility, it is
postulated that improvement of spinal neural integrity through
specific chiropractic adjustments may have contributed to
improved homeostasis and physiological adaptation thus allowing
the body to express a greater level of health as an outcome
