28. • Taiyang (Small Intestine and Bladder)
• Most expansive, superficial posterior
cold and dark layer (Quenches Heat and
eliminates Stress).
• Vulnerable to cold, stagnations and
anything that catches from behind.

• Heat is discharged off the body (and
blood) - therefore forming the first line of
defense in an external pathogenic attack.
• The point pairs are often used to address
pain/stiffness/numbness issues running

30. • Yangming (Large Intestine
and Stomach)
• Light up the central physiological

• “interior of the exterior” (the front of the
body). Yangming is “full of Qi and blood” and is
the warm core within Yang and the relatively
solid place from which Yang begins to grow
outward to its eventual dispersal to the
external environment at Taiyang.
It regulates Dryness. If there is abundant Qi and
blood in a body (produced via Yangming) then
Dryness cannot take hold. As Yangming holds
and generates a lot of heat, there is always the
potential for it to slip into Dryness and Yin
Deficiency.

31. • Taiyin(Spleen and Lungs)
• Nourishing Blood and keeping the

Dampness and Nutrition. The
spleen works on the arterial
capillaries (carrying fresh blood,
oxygen, and nutrition) meet the

used/damaged blood, CO2, and
waste).
The lung works on this level
through the exchange of oxygen
and CO2 within the body. The
two work together for
nourishment and elimination.

32. • Shaoyin (Kidneys and Heart)
• Sustaining all the Blood properties for
smooth circulation and Calm Life.
• Ensures happiness within and outside.
• From K1 -> To H 9
• Drain heat to clear the heart while
dredging and opening the yin collateral (Luo)
vessels. The channel invigorates and moves
blood around and heat away.
Both the heart and kidneys are sources of
metabolic fire (heat/warmth) in the body.
The Heart is a source of fire through moving
and circulating blood throughout the body;
the Kidneys supply this through Mingmen
Fire.
Unlike Taiyin, the Shaoyin organs/channels
do not work together, but rather have a
relationship of dynamic tension.

33. • Jueyin (Liver and Pericardium)
• Most responsive space needed for Thought, Action and
Survival Powers.
• Decides Performance and Position in Life.
• From LIV 1 -> To P 9
• Fosters yin, nourishes blood, and regulates
distribution of blood to other channels. It “calms
spirit ”, because of the relationship of blood to
the spirit. It also regulates Wind
(neurotransmission), the suddenness of which
causes disturbances in the circulation of blood.

Liver stores blood for the whole body, while
Pericardium stores blood for the Heart and
Brain. Jueyin, is used for dredging the channels
to move and restore normal blood circulation,
and thereby address both spirit issues and Wind.

34. JING & LUO

35. Heaven moves down, Earth moves upwards, to create
Physiologies in Man.
Waves of Heaven and Particles of Earth created us. Heaven
is subtle and invisible and corresponds to images and
ideas, Earth is substance and form and corresponds to
physicality.
Heaven gives thoughts while Earth gives form; this is a
vertical axis of Heaven and Earth in humans - represented
by the heart and kidney. The kidney fills the Marrow in the
bones and the brain. Heart stores the Mind (Spirit) and
therefore processes the thoughts through the brain.
Zang organs receive terrestrial inputs of Dampness/ Heat/
Wind through the Yin meridians that crawl upward from
the feet to the finger tips of the upper extremities.
Fu organs receive celestial inputs to harmonize these three
properties through the Yang meridians that drop
downward in the reverse (through the Head).

36. The 6 – Vertical JING (Meridians)

38. Luo – are the Collaterals that are transverse branches bifurcating from the Jing
(Meridians). There are fifteen collaterals in all (each of the twelve regular channels has
a collateral, plus the Ren and Du channels, and the great collateral of the spleen).
The Limb collaterals of the yin channels run towards the yang channels while the
collaterals of the yang channels run to their related yin channels.
The Trunk collateral of the Ren channel spreads over the abdomen. The collateral of
the Du channel disperses throughout the head and branches off to join the Taiyang
channel of the foot.
The great collateral of the spleen is distributed over the chest and hypochondriac
regions.
The Luo strengthen the function of the Jing and closely connect the exterior-interior
related channels. They assist the transportation and distribution of qi and blood in
order to moisten and nourish the whole body.
While Qi of the JING descends abruptly or crawls upward swiftly, within the LUO it disperses
gently like a feather and diffuses into the micro capillaries and cells.
