OUTPUT ?
Now that you now
what Input and
Input devices are,
can you name a few
Output devices ?
3
OUTPUT
 Basic Concepts
 Output refers to the feedback when communicating with a
computer.
 Features
Output device is a piece of hardware that a person use to get the results of
the input instruction
 Uses
The use of an output device is get the processed results that is put into the
computer.
4
OUTPUT
What is an audio output
device?
It’s a device that produce sound
like music or voice
5
Audio output
Headsets and speakers
Headset is a speaker that is small enough to fit into your ear, so
that only you can listen to the music
Speakers can be plugged into your computer and you can listen to
audio played by cds or games
6
OUTPUT
Fax Machine
Fax machine or facsimile is used to send information through a
telephone line from one fax machine to another
Fax Modem
Fax modem is a device connected to a computer, the output can be
sent through a telephone line to a fax machine and this device can
connect to the internet
7
OUTPUT
Multifunction devices
This device consist of more than one function for example a
Multifunction Printer, that can print, scan, copy and fax.
8
OUTPUT
Data projector
Connects to your computer and shows
everything that is on the computer screen on a
flat surface on the wall or screen. The Projector
works with a light bulb and lenses as well as
colour filters.
9
OUTPUT
DLP (Digital light processing)
Projector
This type of projector use tiny mirrors to reflect
light, this projector has a better quality output
than the data projector

Storage ?
12
Storage media and devices
 Basic Concepts
 Storage refers to permanetly saving/storing data and information
 Features
Storage device is a piece of hardware that a person use to store/save the
results of the input instruction.
 Uses
The use of an storage device like a harddrive is to get the processed results
that was saved.
13
Storage media and devices
CDs, DVDs
These are the most common way of storage,
CDs and DVDs are inexpensive and good quality
movies and music can be stored.
Blu-Ray
These disks have a massive storage capacity and
can store up to 50 GB od data.
14
Blu-Ray
15
Storage device
Memory cards
This device is found in a device such as
cameras, smart phones and video
cameras, this device can store data
from as big as 8Mb up to 8 Gb.
Just connect the camera or device
directly to the computer and copy the
data from the card to computer.

Processing ??
18
Processing
 System unit
This is a case with components such as the
 Motherboard
 CPU
 RAM and ROM
19
Processing
Motherboard
The motherboard is the main
circuit board, it contains slots
and connectors, the
motherboard connects to all
the devices so that the devices
can communicate with each
other
20
Processing
CPU (Central Processing Unit)
This is the brain of the computer, where all the PROCESSING of data
tekane place. All calculations is done by the CPU.
21
Processing
Measuring speed of a CPU in
GHz
The speed of the CPU is measured in gigahertz, this is the number
of instructions that happens in one second.
22
Processing
Memory (RAM)
 RAM (Random Access Memory) This is a volatile storage place
what means if the power goes of the contents in the RAM will be
gone. The RAM the main memory called Primary memory. Before
any program can run it must be loaded in the RAM.
23
Processing
Memory (ROM)
 ROM (READ ONLY MEMORY) This is a non-volatile storage device.
This chip stores instructions and data permanetly, this chip holds
the intructions needed to start the computer when you switch it
on.
