Crime Overview
On July 28, 1999, twelve year old Lionel Alexander Tate was in his Florida home with six year old
Tiffany Eunick, who was under the care of his mother, Kathleen Grossette–Tate. Grossette– Tate
was in her room taking a nap when Lionel beat young Tiffany to death. In the short time span of five
minutes, Tiffany's body showed proof of blunt force trauma, bruises, broken bones brain contusions,
and a lacerated liver (Blanco, 2004). According to the autopsy report, her injuries were similar to
those as if she had been thrown off of a three story building (Blanco 1). Prosecutors viewed this case

5. The Effect of Single Parent Families to Children
CHAPTER 1
THE PROBLEM
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY A family is often pictured by many with two parents. But for
some their family composes of only one. Doug Hewitt (2010), an eHow Contributor said that
Single–parents families are defined as households in which there is at least one child under the age
of 18 and there is only one parent in the household because of divorce, death or because the parent
never married. Moreover, Cox (1984) emphasized that the largest percentage of single–parent
families result from divorce followed by death of a parent. According to Medina (2005) there are
different types of a single–parent family. First is the widow or widower and children which is caused
by a death of spouse where the surviving spouse did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Divorced families present a greater risk for children with depression or other serious psychiatric
disorders to develop. Spencer (1982) said in his book entitled Foundations of Modern Technology
that children are more likely to die of coronary heart disease in later years if they had lost one or
both parents before entering college. According to Traci S Campbell (2010) education of children
can also be affected she said that children that are raised in a single parent household have lower
grades than those who are raised in a home with both parents. This can be in a home where the child
has always been raised by one parent or in homes where a divorce or separation has recently taken
place. Studies also show children raised in a single parent household are less likely to go to college
or take steps to continue their education. There are also a higher percentage of drop outs that were
raised in a single family home. Time spent with a single parent during the formative preschool years
seems to have particularly bad effects on a boy's education, according to Sheila Fitzgerald Krein and
Andrea H. Beller of the school of human resources and family studies at the University of Illinois at
Urbana.
The report in Demography, the journal of the Population Association of America, said that many
studies have focused on the psychological consequences for children in one–parent

9. Fruition : A Long Journey Accomplished
Bringing this dissertation to fruition was a long journey accomplished only because of the
contributed efforts of many. I thank my committee–Vance Holliday, Jay Quade, Vic Baker, Barbara
Mills, and Jeff Dean–for all their help, guidance, and encouragement. I feel lucky to have worked
under the supervision of such an eminent group of researchers. I especially appreciate my advisor
Vance Holliday, who was supportive of my decision to pursue an independent and initially unfunded
project. This research was funded by a handful of sources, including the National Science
Foundation (NSF Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant #1041950; IGERT Fellowship in
Archaeological Science [University of Arizona]); the Geological Society of America ... Show more

Similarly, Steve Hall was a steady source of help and encouragement, especially in regard to
interpreting Holocene deposits in New Mexico. Karen Adams and Susie Smith were wonderful
resources on the botanical side of things. Conception of this research resulted from the convergence
of a handful of important influences over the years. Alfred Bodtke encouraged my childhood
rockhounding, even inviting me into his home to teach me lapidary work. My undergraduate mentor,
D.L. True, inspired a fascination with Southwest prehistory, and Debbie Elliott–Fisk introduced me
to Quaternary geology. During my master's thesis work, Vance Haynes instilled the importance of
meticulous chronometric control and fieldwork, and Bill Bull's enthusiasm about climatic
geomorphology was contagious. Finally, Carla Van West, Ed Huber, and Jeff Homburg introduced
me to the Carrizo Wash area as part of a contract archaeology project. Obtaining permits for
conducting fieldwork required navigating governmental bureaucracy, and Brenda Wilkinson (BLM),
Dave Simons (BLM), and David Eck (NM State Land Office) provided invaluable help getting
through the required process and paperwork. Spending extended periods of time in the field was
unequivocably the most enjoyable part of my dissertation work. Our chow mix Zoi was an

19. Informative Essay On Brittany Murphy
Sandi Son
Coach Fox
English III – 7
1 March 2015
Brittany Murphy
Who wouldn't want to watch a great movie with an attractive actress that could give an amazing
performance? Brittany Murphy was talented and loved by many for her great acting and personality
that had an impact on others. She deserves to be placed on a commemorative stamp due to the fact
that she was a well known actress who starred in many popular movies to the american people
today.
Brittany Murphy, a talented soul, deserves to be placed on a commemorative stamp because as a
depressed, insecure and codependent person who ignored her talent for some time eventually
managed to succeed in what she did, that shows how strong she was (Bennan). Murphy had a rough
time in school growing up, kids always made fun of her due to the fact that she was a small person
and the kind of clothes she would wear. Although she was going through some things like being
insecure and depressed, at the age of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was also a singer who sang in "Happy Feet", which was a 2006 hit movie. (Contemporary
Theatre, Film and Television. Vol. 105.).
In December 2009 Brittany, who died from pneumonia and multiple drug intoxication, was rushed
to the Cedars–Sinai Medical Center but did not make it (Newsmaker Detroit). The memorable
actress left the last of her talent with the final movie she starred in which was "Abandoned", which
released in 2010 before her heart failure that took her in 2009, at a young age of 32. (Brennan).
Brittany Murphy deserves to be placed on commemorative stamp due to the fact that she was a well
known actress who starred in many popular movies to the american people today and touched the
many souls of her family and fans who still wishes to see more than what she had accomplished
during her time here. Works Cited

23. The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies Essay
The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies
In society we have a lot of women actresses. Some tend to play the motherly type, some play the
manipulator type and some even play the victims of abusive relationships. No matter what women
seem to be coming up in the industry of movies in more ways than before. The three movies I have
chosen to analyze in my critique are Heartbreakers, Baby Boy and Stepmom. These three movies all
have women in them that either play a major role or the main role. All their roles are very different
in character and none of the women in these three movies play a similar role.
In the movie Heartbreakers the two main women are Jennifer Love Hewitt (the daughter) and
Sigourney Weaver (the mother). These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second movie in which a woman plays a major role in is Baby Boy. This movie, I believe did
not do too much damage to the box offices when it first came out, but it sure portrayed women in a
very negative way. The main character is actually a man by the name of Tyrese Gibson. He plays a
boy who is struggling to grow up and become not only an independent adult, but also a responsible
father (to more than one child). The main female role in the movie is Tyrese's baby's mother. She is
in love with him and would do anything to keep him happy. She let's him use her car and she let's
him stay at her place at any time with her and their son. He cheats on her a lot and at one point even
hits her. This was a major part in the movie. He had promised her he would never lay his hands on
her and he did. She stopped talking to him for quite some time, and that whole time you could sense
they were both miserable without eachother. Some men tend to hurt women for the simple facts that
they just don't know how to control their anger or because they were never taught good
communication skills. They end up telling one another that they can't live without each other and
they get back together. She ends up getting pregnant by him again and they get married and live
happily ever after. Moral of the story: Teens trying to balance their love life and

GOAL! THE DREAM BEGINS

Like every kid, Santiago Munez has a big dream. But unlike every kid, he's given the rare
opportunity to make that dream come true–if he's willing to put his fears aside, travel thousands of
miles from home, and hold his own with some of the best in the world. The intense pressure and
personal sacrifice prove costly for Santiago on his quest–but will they be enough to keep this gifted,

31. Role Models As A Role Model
"A role model is an imperfect person, not a perfect person, because that's who we are as real people"
(Jennifer Love Hewitt) Everyone one needs somebody to look up to. During the video of the
greatest love of all Whitney Huston shows a couple of things. She wants tries to prove a point
during the video. The point she is trying to prove is that everyone needs a role model or even
someone to look up to.
When you're a little kid most of the time your first role models are a doctor, firefighter, or a teacher.
Most kids look up to them because they save lives. When kids think of doctors, they think of
someone helping their ailments. They look at firefighters as a positive role model because they save
people out of fires. They see them as role models because they are helping someone while putting
their life at risk. Kids most of the time think that teachers are role models because they see them in
the class room helping them. The teacher's best intentions are for the kids to get better and grow.
That's why some kids look up to teachers. These are some of the common role models for kids.
There are so many different role models. Its honestly up to the person to look up to them. Every man
for himself. Everyone has their own opinion. Your role model is the person in your opinion you look
up to. No one else can tell you who and what you can look up to.

The infamous Dr Pepper soft drink company originated in Dublin but operations are happening in
Waco. The Waco Dr Pepper Museum features vintage bottles, old delivery trucks, and artifacts of
original dr peppers soft drinks still in great shape. Visitors can read books and literature to learn
about the history of the company. Also, the Tex–Mex style of food and traditional hamburgers
originated in Texas while the delicious Snickers candy bars are manufactured at the M&M/Mars
plant in Woodway, a suburb southwest of Waco. This facility processes some of the most favorite
candies in the world such as Skittles, Twix, Starburst, and Milky Way. Texas is mostly known for its

Another unique fact about Texas is that both John Wayne and Chuck Norris are official sworn–in
Texas Rangers. Actor John Wayne played one in the 1961 western "The Comancheros" film, and
Chuck Norris starred in "Walker, Texas Ranger" but he was officially sworn in on December 2, 2010
in Garland. Another person who's an important figure to Texas history is General Ignacio Zaragoza
who inspired the Cinco De Mayo celebration. This is where Mexico defeated the French in a battle
over territory. Surprisingly, there are lots of people without high school diplomas in the state
contributing to high poverty rates in certain areas, but there are many minimum wage jobs available
which is why many people travel from other places to Texas for the abundant work opportunities.

39. Persuasive Essay On Make A Wish
NORTH POLE –– On November 3rd, Macy's officially rung in the holiday season with its 10th
annual Believe campaign, benefiting Make–A–Wish. This marks a decade's worth of work inspired
by the tangible impact of generosity and love. Believers are invited to any local Macy's store where
they can write letters to Santa this holiday season. For each letter collected in–store and online from
Nov. 3 through Dec. 24, Macy's will donate $1, up to $1 million, to Make–A–Wish to help grant the
wishes of children with critical illnesses. All are welcome to write letters, there is no age limit! If
you wish to take part in this year's anniversary campaign, visit your local Macy's store where you
can drop off your letters to Santa into the red letterboxes. In addition, you can submit a letter online
at macys.com/believe. The Macy's Believe campaign was launched in 2008, and since then Macy's
has donated more than $15 million to Make–A–Wish through this annual campaign. Macy's has
contributed to granting thousands of wishes over the past 10 years. The impact of wish fulfillments
is undeniable and widespread – not only do they increase hope and happiness for wish kids, but their
families, volunteers, supporters, medical professionals and entire communities are transformed by
the experience. "We couldn't imagine the overwhelming response the Believe campaign would

"Dean. DEAN!" My voice croaks as tears beg to be released. The anguish lingering inside forces me
up from my kneeled position and propels me forward towards the bedside where he, and the woman
he 's with, remain blissfully asleep and unaware of mine or Amy 's presence. "DEAN! How could
you!?" I rip the duvet off from them, revealing their naked bodies. Their entangled limbs make it all
too real, which in turn creates a deep sickness to set in. "What the fuck? Who are you?" The woman
stirs, but I pay no attention. "Who the fuck are you more to the point!" Amy yells from behind and
storms over to the woman. Despite the ensued arguing between them both, I fail to take any notice,
instead my thoughts wander to all the things Dean and I had planned. Our future. Everything. With
my weakened muscles and throbbing heart, I stare hopelessly at his bare skin wondering why? Why
would he do this to me? He promised me he would repay the faith I invested in him, and this is what
I get? Mexico, the business ideas, the money, everything... it 's all gone. I 'm left more lost and alone
now than ever before, and there 's nothing I can do to about it. How could he willingly allow this to
happen? Dazed from the barrage of intense emotions, Dean 's eyelid twitches causing my sadness to
be replaced with anger. Before I get the chance to say or do anything, he awakens fully with bulging
eyes. "What the hell is going on here? Why am I naked?!" He speedily sits up and grabs his boxers

60. Any, Does John Mackey's Theory Y Play At Whole Foods?
Eric Smith
Christine Hill
Organizational behavior
January 24, 2013
Case Analysis: John Mackey, Whole Foods Market
1. What role, if any, does McGregor's Theory Y play at Whole Foods? Explain. According to
Kreitner and Kinicki (2013) McGregor contrasted two views on human nature by insisting that
Theory Y assumes that people are more positive at work, and believed managers could accomplish
more by viewing employees as such (p.9). The other outdated theory, is Theory X, which is a more
negative and pessimistic assumption about workers. Given the statements from John Mackey, it is
his vision to create a positive working environment and Theory Y plays somewhat of a role at
Whole Foods. Although Whole Foods wants to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There could be different situations that call for a different approach or management technique.
Through conscious leadership, as Mackey suggests, managers at Whole Foods become aware of
their knowledge and skills, and are able to be flexible in approaching various problems at the
organization. Given the 21st century table in our text we can clearly see the differences of today's
managers in comparison with yesterday's management styles. The 21st century manager is a more
positive approach to dealing effectively with employees. In the past when the capitalist society and
its capitalist factories and organizations were flourishing, the employees were pushed to their limits.
Unions were subsequently formed to deter any potential wrongdoings and unfair labor practices.
Today there are some unions, but are they necessary? Whole Foods Markets attempts to discourage
employees from forming unions. Susan Mohammad notes that Mackey once compared unions to
herpes, saying "once you have them, you can never get rid of them,"(Canadian Business 2009 p. 63).
Mackey believes this because at Whole Foods they have implemented programs and pay scales that
are already ideal for its employees. Whole Foods also has very strategic plans to promote its organic
food lines. The 21st century manager is still about the profits. And some might say that even though
Mackey and Whole Foods are good at managing people they are

64. Stereotypes And Stereotypes Of African Americans
Humans have a natural instinct to try to understand unfamiliar demographics based on information
displayed to them via media outlets and other people; this instinct is called stereotyping. Stereotypes
are "cognitive structures that contain the perceiver 's knowledge, beliefs, and expectations about
human groups" (Green). Stereotypes have been proven to affect young adolescents. Media depicts
African Americans in stereotypical ways that negatively affect self–esteem, therefore all media
outlets should display African Americans in a more realistic and rational way.
The type of prejudice that affects African Americans the most is based on racial grounds. Racial
stereotypes are "constructed beliefs that all members of the same race share that are usually
negative." (Green). Harmful and often untrue stereotypes of African Americans mostly come from
historical figures who aimed to group African Americans and justify moral wrongdoings of the past.
These depictions shaped the way African Americans were, and still are, viewed by other races.
Archetypes such as the Sambo, Jim Crow, Savage, Mammy, Aunt Jemimah, Sapphire, and the
Jezebel, though not as powerful today, are often altered to be used to categorize the African
American people of today 's society. Despite these racial stereotypes of the past being not as
influential as they once were, they are still prevalent today by being adapted to fit in with the
mainstream views of black people of today.

73. Personal Narrative: Survivor Of Sexual Assault
There are many things I wouldn't put past my estranged mother: she's trolled me in the comment
section of my online articles, publicly disowned me and my sister on Facebook more than once, and
put me in very serious legal trouble. But I never thought I would see her openly defending a man
who bragged about "grabbing pussy", nor did I think I'd see her outright mock victims of alleged
sexual assault, especially because she is a survivor of sexual abuse and assault. Her trauma was
something I knew about from a young age; one of the earliest books she bought me was about a
young girl who was molested. She told me time and again about how so many people didn't believe
her, how she had no one to turn to when she needed it the most. Never trust ... Show more content

She spoke openly about sex with my sister, and told me that it was because my sister was honest
with her. If I made a comment about the difference in treatment, my mother would say I was making
it up – that if I had just been honest, she would've been more accepting of my sexuality. Growing up,
my privacy was non–existent, with my parents rifling through my stuff for proof that I was hiding a
scandalous lifestyle. I was constantly accused of hiding things, because I didn't speak openly about
my private life. I wasn't open because I wasn't given a safe space to do so. As I developed my own

sexism. Because she was prone to rage outbursts and volatile tempers, I learned to escape through
another medium, like books or music, so a lot of what she said didn't stick. While I was aware that
her behavior was toxic, I didn't realize how dangerous it truly was until this

HR should be defined not by what it does, but by what it delivers.
DAVID ULRICH
Human Resource (HR) management
The design of formal systems in an organization to ensure the effective and efficient use of human
talent to accomplish the organizational goals.
As human resources have become viewed as more critical to organizational success, many
organizations have realized that it is the people in an organization that can provide a competitive
advantage.2 Throughout the book it will be emphasized that the people as human resources
contribute to and affect the competitive success of the organization. Human Resource (HR)
management deals with the design of formal systems in an organization to ensure the effective and
efficient use of human talent to accomplish organizational goals. In an organization, the
management of human resources means that they must be recruited, compensated, trained, and
developed.
