difficulty lies in the vastness and complexity of the subject matter. Biology encompasses a wide
range of topics, from molecular biology to ecology, and delving into any specific area requires a
solid understanding of the underlying principles and concepts.
One of the challenges is the need for in-depth research to ensure accurate and up-to-date
information. Biology is a dynamic field, with new discoveries and advancements constantly
reshaping our understanding. Staying current with the latest research findings and incorporating
them into the essay can be time-consuming but is essential for producing a high-quality piece of
work.

especially when tackling intricate topics.
In conclusion, writing a biology essay is no easy feat. It necessitates a comprehensive
understanding of the subject, thorough research, effective communication skills, and a keen sense
of organization. However, with dedication and the right approach, overcoming these challenges

2. Antonio Vivaldi Priesthood
Antonio Vivaldi was born March 4 of 1678 in Venice, Italy or Republic of Venice.
When Vivaldi was born his parent thought he was a miracle from God because on
the day that Vivaldi was born an earthquake hit the town of Venice killing millions
and not killing the Vivaldi family. Because of this, his parents had committed
Vivaldi to the priesthood since he was young. His father sees that Vivaldi is a child
prodigy and quits his job to teach his son how to play the violin. Vivaldi was very
limited to what kind of instruments he was able to play, due to his sickness which
now many think is asthma , which is why he was excellent in playing string
instruments. While being trained musical, Vivaldi was also being prepared for the
life of priesthood.
3. The Ethical Use Of Animals In Captivity
Imagine being taken away from your family and being thrown into a small glass
cage to be overlooked by untrusted beings for the rest of your life. How would you
feel? Angry? Scared? Annoyed? All of the animals in zoos feel like this. This shows
that animals are not meant to be in zoos. They are not treated well and are only used
for show and to make money. First of all, most animals in captivity, such as zoos, are
treated unfairly. As www.peta.org says, Animals are often prevented from doing most
of the things that are natural and important to them, like running, roaming, flying,
climbing, foraging, choosing a partner, and being with others of their own kind. Zoos
teach people that it is acceptable to interfere with animals and keep them... Show

The zoos and other places that keep animals captive only use them for their benefit.
As www.peta.org argues, The Wall Street Journal reported in 2003 that nearly half of
the country s zoos are facing cutbacks this year ... [a]ttendance, meanwhile, is down
about 3% nationwide. 3 Precious funds that should be used to provide more humane
conditions for animals are often squandered on cosmetic improvements such as
landscaping, refreshment stands, and gift shops in order to draw visitors. This
proves that most of these animals are only used to show them off to others, in order
to sell various items. A zooresearcher from the New York Times researched the
behaviors of animals as well as what the visitors did to the animals at the Bronx Zoo.
Www.nytimes.com says her conclusion was Zoos are a great place to observe the
exotic behaviors of human beings in the wild. This shows that the people are using
the animals as a source of entertainment, not education. When she said, human beings
in the wild it means that the humans are overtaking the animals, controlling them,
mistreating them, and using them as just another source of entertainment like a TV.
The mistreatment of animals is also another concern for zoos, for they are only used
to make money. Http://wildlife rescue.org claims that There is minimal state and
federal protection for animals used in entertainment. Many of the animals used for
human amusement are not even covered by the federal Animal WelfareAct. This
shows that these animals are not even protected, free to be used by the zoo, for
money, entertainment, and any other mistreatment to them. Overall, these animals
are mistreated for the entertainment of others, and to make more

Abstract Various issues and in organizations, but discrimination and racism are the
ones that still continue to be prevalent (Badawi M., 2012). However, this paper
focuses on the discrimination issues, especially those of the female gender. The
problem is that female managers and supervisors are perceived more negatively than
their male counterparts due to gender stereotyping. Facts obtained regarding this
issue have been derived from the findings of research studies conducted in the past,
as well as from results obtained from preliminary interviews

Abstract
This paper will explore the role of labor unions within the Unites States. The
effectiveness of Unions and how they are important for the stability of the American
economy. Unions provide many benefits to employees due to the working
relationship with management and politicians in the U.S Congress. Some of the
benefits that provided by unions are, paid vacations, pensions, an 8 hour work day
with breaks and social security benefits. Unions are continually fighting with
politicians and the State Government for better benefits. Will discuss the role of
HRM s employee relations within the organizations and what role the government
should play.
Increased Role of U.S. Labor Unions In the United States unions have impacted the
workforce by creating better benefits for all works. Unions work to improve the
working conditions in the workplace by working with the organization to make sure
they are following the labor laws of the State and Federal Government. Labor unions
date back to the eighteenth century and the industrial revolution in Europe. (Union
Plus, n.d.) Unions exploded in the United States around the nineteenth century with
the founding of the National Labor Union (NLU) in 1866. (Union Plus, n.d.)
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2015 the overall union

orchestrated by Secretary of State William Seward, and was originally called Seward

William Seward was a Union College graduate who went on to law school and
eventually became New York State Governor, a United StatesSenator and finally the
United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln. Seward survived an attempt

total population of salmon has declined, this is not the case in the state of Alaska.
Alaska has a fishery management system which is considered to be one of the best
in the management of wild fish stock. Salmon is a popular seafood item because it
is rich in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin D. In addition to the exporting of seafood,
Alaska transports natural gas and oil. Alaska also produces precious metals, zinc,
timber and wood products. What little agriculture and farming is done in Alaska,

are located in the state. Tourism is also big in Alaska, with the increase in local

Had I had the strength to do something, I would have tremored every part of my
body as I witnessed the atrocity committed by the midnight dumpers . As burns and
the Ward Transformer Company laid waste to me and my body, I saw how the
people that reside on me were harmed by the contamination of PCBs (polychlorinated
biphenyls). Though Burns and his business men were arrested soon after, they still
had managed to get the last laugh. Since the late 1970s I became a toxic landfill full
of contaminated byproducts where legislation and government failed to manage my
wellbeing as well as protect the health of nearby residents. State officials were slow to
react and I had to succumb to this contamination until finally, someone spoke up for

3. How does the Best Buy situation in China differ from its situation in Canada?
The buying situation differs in Canada from china, by several reasons. Best Buy
Company had an entry strategy for each country, but the environment in china didn t
was as they were expecting. The Chinese were not familiar to the concept of credit, as
in United States and Canada, this fact made the paying system more complex than
what they were expecting.
Also the consumer behavior in china was very different than in Canada. In china the
saving rates per family were much higher than in Canada and Usa. Families were
accustomed to save a considerable amount of money for other future issues rather
than in electronic products as in Canada and Usa, which are higher consumer
societies.
The situation for new entrants was very complex in china; acquisition of cities took
much longer than in developed countries. Starting a new business in china was not a
rapid process. Making relationships between channels was a slow process, because
manufacturers, distributors, and other actors preferred to negotiate with people who
they knew before, in china personal relationships are quite important in businesses.
Some factors that influenced this process were

I have a dream. I have a dream about getting a doctorate degree in music. Well, to

making sure that the print on the spine of the paper is lined up correctly. This
insures that the page numbers will go in the correct order. A pocket usually holds
about six or seven bundles to make it full. The number of pages in the book being
made determines the number of pockets

reality of a teenage girl s life throughout her high schoolyears and the problems her

There is even one encounter where she goes on a camping trip in Colorado and she
sleeps with a guy in their zipped together sleeping bags (Minot 102). The fact that
the young people of this time were allowed to just roam around unsupervised, just
further aided their sexual desires. In the beginning of the story, the narrator s
accounts were completely casual and it was obvious that she thought nothing of it.
The first few stories were just a few brief sentences that basically described who
and where. Leo, her first, was described in one sentence. In the spring before the
Hellmans filled their pool, we d go down there in the deep end, with baby oil, and
like that (Minot 98). The first few stories had an almost monotonous tone about them
and there was definitely no kind of emotion or feelings between the two of them. In
Janet Ellerby s essay, she compared the stories of the narrator s encounter to a
grocery list (Ellerby). At that age, sex was just something that all of her friends
were doing and so she felt like she had to do it too. She did not realize that there
were emotional ties to it. At that point sex was just sex and there was nothing else to
it. As the story went on though, there was a sense of emotion and feeling in her
accounts and they became a little more detailed. After the first few brief descriptions,

14. Positive Effects Of Fracking
Fracking is a shorter form of Hydraulic Fracturing which is the extraction process
of both natural gas and oil. The process involves drilling deep into the Earth s
surface. Fractures are then created by pumping large quantities of fluids at high
pressure down a welfare and into the target rock formation (EPA, 2016). After
making these openings for the gas or oil to come up (known as flowback ) the
materials can be stored. The reason the fracking process occurs is because more
usual methods of extraction may not be able to fully reach the deposits of shale
gas and oil (2015). Although the process of Fracking seems reasonable because it
is something we use in our daily lives for cooking food, heating homes, and
amongst other things, the question remains whether it is an actual positive or
negative to not only us (not even a question) but to the environment? When
looking at the pro side one main reason would be the additional access to gas and oil
fracking would give us since many scientists believe we only had a few years left to
use fossil fuels before they ran out (2015). The second positive effect for us would be
the lowering of taxes. With more accessibility to gas and oil it wouldn t be such a
demand allowing gas for cooking to lower as well as petroleumfor cars. Lastly, it can

What was the cause of Mrs. Mallard s death? The story revolves around a woman

found out it was false, her sister, Josephine, and her friend, Richards, try to break
the news of her husband s death to Mrs. Mallard as gently as possible since it was
described in the first sentence that Mrs. Mallad was afflicted with hearttrouble . There
are two possible meaning to this expression. Firstly, it could be taken literally, and
she probably has heart diseasewhich she has to be medicated for and she has to adapt
her lifestyle around. But as we read more of the story, we find out that this
expression is in fact a metaphor for Mrs. Mallard s suffering and the burden she
has to carry in her heart every day because of her husband and because of being in
an environment where she doesn t have any self expression or any opportunity to
fulfill what her heart greatly desires. When her husband died , she cried, but then
she came to the realization that perhaps his death could be a positive thing for her

16. Maimonides Intro To Mishnah Sanhedrin
Reason and Tradition Essay In both premodern and modern times, priests and
religious figures have felt threatened by the growing field of science. What they
failed to realize is that science and religion don t answer the same questions. Society
needs reason, a logical and practical understanding of the world, to answer the
question hows of life. Yet, it also needs tradition, faithin religionor other core belief
system, to answer the whys. As shown in Maimonides Intro to Mishnah Sanhedrin
Chapter 10, Sacks, the Great Partnership, and the debate between Rabbi David
Wolpe and Christopher Hitchens, reason provides explanations for the processes that
allow the world to work the way it does, while tradition provides meaning in life and
an understanding of purpose. According to Maimonides in the Intro to Mishnah
Sanhedrin Chapter 10, there are three groups of people. The first two groups he
describes make the mistake of interpreting tradition too literally. He said, their
teachings when taken literally, seem so fantastic and irrational. Religion is not

Owing to events like the 9/11 attacks against the World Trade Center in New York
City in the United States and the Arab Spring in North African and the Middle
Eastern countries, there is a growing interest in the West from people who want to
know what is happening with the Arab world. Margaret Nydell in the book,
Understanding Arabs , provides information to instruct those who want to increase
their understanding about the Arab people in general. Nydell describes Arab beliefs,
values, and concepts related to friendship, family, social structure, and to many other
areas. The text examines the Arab countries based in three regions: North Africa, the
Middle East, and the Arabian Peninsula. It gives an updated representation of the
Arab world and serves as introductory reading to promote understanding of the
cultures represented among Arabs. Many people associate the Arab world only with
Islam, the dominant religion in the Middle East, North Africa, and beyond.
Nevertheless, Kenneth Cragg in his book, The Arab Christian , reminds his readers
that Christianity has its roots in the region, many centuries before Islam began to

Why Did Texas Almost Fail as a Spanish Colony?
Why do the ventures of man fail? The ventures of men fail primarily due to a lack
of planning. In the case of Spanish colonies in Texas this holds true. The Spanish
first set eyes on the Texas coast in 1519 and in 1821 they lowered their flag for the
final time in Texas. The Spanish had about 300 years to try and colonize Texas and
the attempt to colonize and settle Texas was not very successful. The initial boats
that came to Texas were shipwrecked and only four people survived of the
approximately 270 men that made the trip. One of these four survivors was Cabeza

Third, the Spanish failed to plan for the hostility of the Comanche and Apache
Indians living in the area. Thus, the difficult geography, the weak missions, and
hostile Indians were the main causes of the near failure of the Spanish colonies in
Texas.
The geography, primarily the distances between settled areas in Texas was a real
problem for the colonization of Texas by the Spaniards. The Spanish were well
established in Mexico City in the south and in New Mexico to the north. However,
the distance from Mexico City and the missions in San Antonio was about 700
miles (Doc A). Also, the distance from San Antonio to Santa Fe, New Mexico was
about the same distance of 700 miles (Doc A). These were the two closest
developed areas to the new colonies. In those days, travel was primarily by mule
train and it would take around two months to travel these distances (Doc A). These
vast distances made it difficult for trade and made it expensive to transport needed
supplies to the newly settled areas. The expense of transportation between
settlements lead to very slow economic development and without a chance to make
a living people were just not willing to move to the new settlements. In addition to
the distances, the land in the area was characterized by very rough terrain and with
very little water (Doc A). Since travel was by animals pulling wagons the availability
of fresh water was important in order to water the mules and

long awaited justice, but to others it only represents radical animosity. Feminism in
its strictest definition according to Merriam Webster Dictionary means the belief that
men and women should have equal rights and opportunities; organized activity in
support of women s rights and interests or The doctrine advocating social, political,
and all other rights of women equal to those of men. A lot feminist movements in
today s society campaign for women s rights, including the right to earn fair wages
or equal pay, to have maternity leave, and also work to protect women from rape,
sexual harassment, and domestic violence. Some feminist groups have radicalized...

Unlike most modern feminists, Paul upholds certain distinctions in marital and
church roles, as seen in his many letters to churches like 1 Corinthians and 1
Timothy. But in the book of Romans, it can be seen that Paul had an inclusive
attitude towards women Christians in the church. Firstly, Paul declares in Romans
that men and women are fundamentally equal in the eyes of God. They are equally
sinners saved by grace (Romans 3:23 24). Neither is uniquely responsible for the
other s sins, and both receive the same standing before God, including the promise
of eternal life, through faith in Christ (DeLashmutt). Paul s letter to the Romans
reflects the socio political dynamics of the city during the first century in his careful
wording of passages in the book. This Christian community began through the
presence of Jewish Christians and the gentiles who associated with them. Paul s
frequent use of words such as all and every illuminates his initiative to include both
Jews and Gentiles in the Christian movement, which is clearly demonstrated
throughout Romans (1:16; 3:9, 19, 23 24; 4:11, 16; 5:12, 18). Through specific
references and personal acclamation, Paul recognizes the influence of women within
the churches and the early Christian movement as a whole, and seems to place them
within the universal categories of all and every in those verses (Casey 28). Paul also
uses the allegory of two women, Sarah and

The narrator only cared about a brother who fit his standards not the one he already

someone or their organization and want to do something against it in order to see
that this behavior, or the wrong actions taken, are corrected for them it is a matter of
ethical responsibility, and they need to do it to feel comfortable in their skin. An
advantage of this behavior is that the Whistleblowers feel a deep satisfaction making
a substantial contribution toward the welfare of society. Of course, personal
gratification isn t the only benefit of becoming a whistleblower. For example, in qui

colleagues which weren t really part of the fraud, just to get a good amount of
money for him out of it. So he chose his own interests above the interests of the
organization. The Federal Government as a representative of the United States had to
act on behalf of all people who had an interest in this case, such as doctors or
competitors in the same industry. Federal Government acted under the assumptions
of the utilitarian approach. The utilitarian approach to ethical decision making says
that the ethical choice is one that produces the greatest good for the greatest number
(R.L. Daft D. Marcic, 2013).
Assessment of the actions taken by Douglas Durand and the Federal Government
According to Alex Storey (2009), in the old days, you were expected to be loyal or
be fired. Durand refused to be loyal to his company and chose to follow the ethical
individualism approach. The individualism approach suggests that actions are ethical
when the individual s best long term interests, because with everyone pursuing self
interested, the greater good is ultimately served (R.L. Daft D. Marcic, 2013).
Because most people try to get the best for their own interest, there might be a great
understanding for the behavior of Douglas Durand
23. An Analysis Of All Over But The Shoutin
In the essay, All Over But the Shoutin , Rick Bragg, the author, depicts the painful
strain inflicted upon family s relationship caused by the reckless action of a father
to forgo the future of his wife and kids in pursuit of his own selfish ambitions. The
author s use of rhetorical moves such as tone, stance, and imagery effectively
portrayed to his audience that, regardless of how debauch a deed may be, there is
always room in one s heart for forgiveness you just have to be receptive to its
backlash. The author s melancholic, yet, optimistic tone arouses mix feelings from
his readers. Bragg clouts his readers perception of his father with harrowing,
however, coveted recollections of the past. In the author s comparative recount of
the Father s demeanor, he paints an unsettling, yet a hopeful life of his father: I
thought he would greet me with that strong voice that sounded so fine when he
laughed and so evil when, slurred by a quart of corn likker, he whirled through the
house and cried and shrieked, tormented by things we could not see or even imagine.
I thought he would be the man and monster of my childhood (Bragg 1). Bragg s
dejected tone when addressing his father s latest demeanor is satirical as the Father s
past behavior is anything but celebratory. The author s conscious decision to compare
his memories of the Father to that of a man and a monster depicts the two emotions
Bragg intended to invoke from his readers through the use of tone: contentment
24. Pros And Cons Of Offshore Drilling
In today s world, oil plays a very important role in our everyday lives. It is used
daily for various things which includes: transportation, electricity, heat etc. Most of
the oils we use either came from underground drilling or came from other
countries. But because of the decrease of supply in oil, people started to look for
alternative ways to find oil. Offshore drilling became the new way of oil drilling. It
is an oil extraction technique that extracts oil from the sea bed. There are both pros
and cons to offshore drilling. In my opinion, the cons outweighs the pros. One of
the most obvious pro of offshore drilling is that it greatly increases the amount of
oil we use for fuel and energy, which in terms helps out our economy. It also allows
us to not rely on other countries to supply the oil. This can help us reduce the oil
price because if the oil is produced in our own country, other countries don t have a
say on the oil price. Another pro of offshore drilling is that it creates more job
opportunities for people. Many skilled people are needed to operate the equipment,
which opens up doors for new workers.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many risks involved in this job which includes fires and drowning. Since
the rigs are in the middle of the water, it is difficult to escape in case of an
emergency. Offshore drilling also leads to a lot of environmental problems. One of
the problem is carbon emissions. High amounts of carbon emission is put into the
atmosphere causes by the drill that is used to drill the seabed. This contributes to the
global warming problem. Another major problem is oil spill. Oil spills causes a lot
of damage to the marine life. It also contaminates the water. All the fishes in the ocean
can be contaminated and it can go up the food chain affecting all other organisms

the video episodes of Hot Coffee the justice system is used effectively to promote

Explain the ethical considerations surrounding such lawsuits in the health care arena.
Ethical considerations surrounding law suits include sub standard care and

law suits in the health care arena. Defensive medicine approaches allow physicians to
practice medicine while reducing the risk of liability and is not recommended as this
method heightens ethical and legal concerns. Alternatively, principles of preventive

CHRISTOPHER NOLAN
Christopher Nolan is considered an English American film director, screenwriter, and
producer and Auteur. Nolan is a man of talent who is known as one of the smartest,
most creative, and successful directors in the film industry today. He is widely
recognized after his first successful feature movie Following(1998),a noir thriller
film.Which was recognized at a number of international film festival.Common themes
and actors can be seen throughout Christopher Nolan s films,he is also famous at
narrating the movie in a non linear way.In the next paragraph im going to discuss
why would i consider him as one of the best modern times auteur.
One of the qualification of being an auteur according to French New Wave film
director and film critic Francois Truffaut is that a good director exerts such a
distinctive style or promotes such a consistent theme that his or her influence is
unmistakable in the body of his or her work. This statement,it s like it s describing
Christopher Nolan and his works, especially in the writing of his films and how he
creates a relatable world within his films and matches it with a completely
unrealistic plot. For example in his film, Inception he creates a real world in which
the audience can completely relate to, setting the bulk of the film in Paris. However
the plot of the film ensures that the Parisian location is set in a dream conscious state
so it is not entirely relatable to
28. Example Of Pathos In Outliers
There is something profoundly wrong with the way we make sense of success
(Gladwell 18). In Outliers Malcolm Gladwell is trying to convince his audience
that they misunderstand how people become successful. Many believe one only
needs hard work and determination in order to achieve success. However,
Gladwell complicates this idea by explaining that hard work and determination is
not how people become successful and instead, it is all about the opportunities one
is given that decides if he or she is successful or not. Gladwell uses the rhetorical
appeals of pathos and ethos in order to persuade his audience to accept his idea of
the process of becoming successful. Pathos appeals to the reader s emotions by
using emotional stories and imagery. Pathos strategies are often used to grab and
hold the reader s attention. Emotional or personal stories give the reader an
opportunity to emotionally relate to the story, and allows them to be emotionally
connected. An emotionally connected reader is more interested in the story that a
reader who is not emotionally connected. Meanwhile, ethos allow the reader to view
the author as a trustworthy source and builds the author s credibility. An author can
do this in a number of different ways, such as using other credible sources to their
advantage or by building common ground with the reader. It is especially important
for Gladwell s audience to trust him, as he is trying to convince them that what they
believe about success is wrong.

The Punic Wars were waged between Rome and Carthage, a city state founded on the
Gulf of Tunis by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BCE (United Nations

Rome, with a strong presence in the Western Mediterranean. The Second Punic War

young adults have the natural inclination to think that they know everything and
that they are pure and adults have a bunch problems because they haven t lived
much life yet. A perfect example of this is a book that I read by Earl Nightingale

31. Americans DID Land on the Moon
In the later days of May in 1961, President John F. Kennedy announced before a
special joint session of Congress, his ambitious goal of sending a human to the
moon before the end of the decade. However, this enormous goal, that would appear
to be a catalyst for domestic pride, has as many ties to the Cold War, as it does to the
moonitself. Regardless of this, when Apollo 11landed on the moon in July of 1969,
the entire country rejoiced. While some doubted the motives of Kennedy s goal, a
bigger conspiracy may have lay just beneath the surface; a conspiracy that could have
shaken the entire country and enraged the world. Many well known scientists and
government officials claim that the United States of America never actually landed a
man on the moon, and that the government faked the entire event for both political
and financial gain. Although much compelling evidence and contradictions have
been brought to light by the conspiracists, NASAhas successfully responded to all of
these in a robust and educated manor, that fully enforces the fact that the United
States of America did in fact land a man on the moon. The United States has never
been a country that shies away from a political advantage, and that is exactly one of
the many alleged motives for them to fake a moon landing. In the height of the Cold
War tensions could not have been higher between the two inter nation superpowers:
the USA, and the USSR. As seen in the so called Miracle on Ice and the World Chess
32. Perception Is Not Reality
Perception is not reality for many reasons. We are living in a virtual reality age of
time in our lives so if we know something you will believe what you know. I think
because of all the technology that we can use like video editing you can make
some that are fake and make it look like it is real. This trick us into believing things
that are not real. If you think that seeing is believing some things can distort how
we look at things from our view. In one of the images in the story on page 79 of,

33. The Revealed Preference Theory Approach To Consumer
Behavior
3. Revealed Preference Theory 3.1 IntroductionMr. Paul Samuelson introduced the
Revealed Preference Theory to explain the consumer behavior. It is a method of
analyzing choices of consumers, mostly used for comparing the influence of policies
on consumer behavior. The preferences of consumers can be revealed by their
purchasing habits. Revealed preference theory emerged because existing theories of
consumer demand were based on a diminishing marginal rate of substitution (MRS).
This diminishing MRS relied on the assumption that consumers always decide to
maximize their utility. While utility maximization was not a controversial
assumption, the underlying utility functions could not be measured with great
certainty. Revealed preference theory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the level of observation. If the income effect is not positive, then the price elasticity

To begin with, why did Gordon shoot an arrow to kill Joseph Strorm? I think there
are many reasons as to why Gordon killed Joseph. Gordon is vengeful because he
was the first born son of their parents, making him the heir to Waknuk. Due to his
deviational changes once he got older, he was sent away into the Fringes.
Consequently, Gordon was forgotten about which left Joseph to be the next heir
to Waknuk. In that case, Gordon is jealous of Joseph and possibly even angry at
the fact that Joseph never tried to find him, or reconcile with him. As a result,
when Gordon spotted Joseph on the battlefield he took no time in shooting an
arrow at his chest, ultimately killing him. On the other hand, do you think Michael

Examples of coercive power would be dismissal, docking of pay, reprimands, and
unpleasant work assignments. Sometimes these types of punishments are stated in
organizations main beliefs.
Captain Miller used this type of power whenever one of his troop members
behaved improperly. For example, in the movie when he heard one of his men say
something he didn t approve of, he reprimanded him. This also was vested in his
title. Legitimate power is the third type of power. This is also known as authority.
This is when a subordinate believes the leader s power over him or her is
legitimate. Captain Miller definitely had this power because of his title. This type of
power relates to reward and coercive power. Since he is a Captain his gives him the
legitimacy to reward and punish his subordinates. At one point in the movie, Captain
Miller instructed his army to plan an attack on the enemy. This is a command that puts
all of their lives at risk. Because that command came from a Captain and not just
another soldier, those who followed his orders most likely did so because of his
title. Expert power is the belief that some other individual has expertise in a given
area and he or she should defer to the experts judgement. This experience is what
made the other soldiers look up to Captain Miller. This expert power is perceived
experience. Although the leader may or may not have actual

The power and danger of electricity is described early in the novel when Victor
recalls his first encounter with electricity:
When I was fifteen years old...we witnessed a most violent and terrible
thunderstorm...and the thunder burst at once with frightful loudness...as I stood at
the door, on a sudden I beheld a stream of fire issue from an old and beautiful
oak...and so soon as a dazzling light vanished, the oak had disappeared, and nothing
remained but a blasted stump (Shelley, 1996:23).
This passage shows Shelley s continuing comparison between nature and science; how
electricity can destroy something beautiful. She used this knowledge both to analyse
and to criticise the more dangerous implications of the scientific method and its
practical results (Mellor, 1988:89).
Although Shelley studied the sciences in which she has written, she remains very
distant from it refusing to totally involve the reader in the creation process. Her
vision of the isolated scientist discovering the secret of life is no mere fantasy but a
plausible prediction of what science might accomplish (Mellor, 1988:107). What
Anne Mellor suggests here is quite interesting; the isolated scientist is what Victor
becomes. Shelley portrays the scientist as someone who displaces

3.4.2. Protomol generation
The protomol is a representation of the enzyme s binding cavity in which putative
ligands are aligned. The complexed ligand from the crystal structure was used to
construct the protomol, which was then stored as MOL2 file. Ligands were docked
directly from molecular database or mol2 files.
3.5. Ligands Sources
Compounds used in and docking screening were downloaded as mol2 files from the
web based databases zinc docking org. (www. zinc.docking.org) The ligand
geometries were optimized with the Powel method using the Tripos force field and

40. Anzia Yezierska’s Novel, Bread Givers Essay
Anzia Yezierska s 1925 novel Bread Givers ends with Sara Smolinsky s realization
that her father s tyrannical behavior is the product of generations of tradition from
which he is unable to escape. Despite her desire to embrace the New World she has
just won her place in, she attempts to reconcile with her father and her Jewish
heritage. The novel is about the tension inherent in trying to fit Old and New worlds
together: Reb tries to make his Old Worldfit into the new, while Sara tries to make
her New Worldfit into the Old. Sara does not want to end up bitter and miserable like
her sisters, but she does not want to throw her familyaway all together. Her struggle
is one of trying to convince her patriarchal family to accept her as an... Show more

Reb holds the sanctity of his religion so deeply that he will not even consider
getting a job as a Rabbi because he believes it would turn him into a false prophet
selling his religion to Americanized Jews (111). Even after he is tricked into buying
the grocery store, he insists that everything that happens is from God, for our good
(125). Reb loves America for being the land of opportunity, where can start with
nothing and end up becoming a millionaire like Rockefeller; but he despises it for
granting too much to women: Woe to America where women are let free like men
(205). Sara has wanted to get away from her family her entire life: I was always
saying to myself, if I ever had a quarter or a half dollar in my hand, I d run away
from home and never look on our dirty house again (22). But the instant she does
have this money, her only desire is to go home and show everyone what she is
capable of achieving. This is the essence of Sara s struggle: her aspiration to
become a teacher stems from her desire to prove to her family, specifically Reb,
that she, as a woman, has worth in and of herself (155). She signs up for classes
wanting a quick education in exactly the same manner Reb buys the grocery store
(162). She is filled with an intense desire to succeed as quickly as possible, as though
were she not to become a teacher as quickly as possible, it would not happen at all.
She does not even wait to fix up

43. Munchausen Syndrome Analysis
Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, ... is caused by a caregiver who uses various
techniques to induce symptoms in a child giving the child drugs, tampering with
medications, contaminating a feeding tube, or even smothering the child, for
example (Comer, 2014, p. 238). I assume that this diagnosis is psychologically
brought about. Something inside the brain of the person who is diagnosed with this
syndrome seeks a special kind of attention. I would almost view it as an addiction. In
ways they are craving this attention from medical professionals and peers. Also, the
Nemours Foundation claims that those diagnosed with Munchausen Syndrome by
Proxy are not only seeking attention, Some experts believe that it isn t just the
attention that s gained... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I now understand how crucial this diagnosis is. It is disturbing to know
that this is taking place more often today. From my perspective, I can t grasp how a
parent or guardian could treat their child like they are ill or enforce ill upon them.
However, I do believe it should be considered a psychological disorder. There are
many other mental illnesses that pose harm to people, yet they are viewed as
something that needs to be treated. Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy should be
treated the same as any other mental
