Disruptive Media Learning
“As participants, creators and stakeholders it is important that we capitalise on, rather than fear, the shift in power enabled by this technologically driven change”
NEWFOTOSCAPES - GRAIN and Library of Birmingham
How appropriate are walled and closed institutions for the digitally mediated world?
Arguably that the biggest disruption facing educators is not caused by the global economic crisis itself, or even the failure of vision of any particular government, but the one housed by the behemoth server farms and the global content producers of the Internet. We are in the midst of an educational system in which knowledge is being liberated from scarcity; previously the scholar’s role was to offer authoritative elucidation on the (rare and inaccessible) book to the privileged few. Today in the new ecology of ‘knowledge’ abundance, we have the potential to educate the masses – our problem is keeping up with and deciding what content to educate them about.
The Disruptive Media Learning Lab is designed as a cross-University experimental unit that will provide support for new and on-going pedagogic development in new and disruptive technological spaces. The Lab draws upon areas from which the University has established a track record of innovation, e.g, the Serious Games Institure, which has pioneered the use of games logics and Apps in educational content delivery and the Media Department’s teaching and learning ‘experiments’ with Open Media Classes (e.g Phonar, Picbod, Creative Activism and Digital Formations) and research/publication experiments, the Disruptive Media group; as well as the LIRG research, evaluation, experimentation and publication on the impact of virtual worlds on pedagogy and chatbots in higher education.

2. Spend 10 minutes sitting alone in silence every day
Sitting alone in silence will help refresh your mind. This is the time when you can think about what you have done and determine whether you did them right or wrong.
3. Keep in mind the empathy, enthusiasm, and energy conception.
Do not let negative emotions appear and exist in your mind. Whenever you have a negative thought, you should talk to yourself that you are doing the wrong thing, and should get rid of that thought as soon as possible. Moreover, you should also play at least one kind of sport regularly to have a good health.
4. Play at least one kind of sport regularly

5. Sleep 8 hours a day
Sleeping enough helps you strong and relaxed. When you have good physical and mental health, you will be able to enjoy life to the fullest.
6. Take time to read books
This will help enrich your knowledge and know more about life. The more you know, the easier you can avoid negative thoughts, and the more peaceful your mind will be.
7. Spend about 30 minutes on meditating, doing yoga, or praying
Meditating, yoga, and praying are efficient ways to enjoy life to the fullest before you die. These activities will encourage you to think positively. The more positively you think, the more peaceful your mind is.
8. Talk with over-70-year-old people and under-6-year old children
The elder ones can show you some valuable living experiences. They can teach you to be more careful when you do anything. They can tell you how to prevent failure, conflict, and betrayal. The little children can help you realize how beautiful the life is. No worry, no stress, and sadness can be found in these children’s eyes.
9. Don’t compare your life to others’
The comparison will only make you dissatisfied with what you have. You will never feel comfortable if you keep comparing you with other people. Each person has his/her own strong point, you cannot have the strong points of all the people you know.
10. Forgive the people who offend you
It is not good to hate others for too long because the longer you hate them, the more you have to think about them, and the more stressed you will get. A wise person is the one who can release every negative thought out of mind.

Observation Paper
Observation Paper for Equity Management
Taihessa Lee
Organizational Leadership
Professor Stephen D. Griffin
June 30, 2013
The purpose of this paper is to describe the observable aspects of my current organization’s culture. I will address my perceptions using the following three viewpoints: vision, mission and core values. I am currently employed at Equity Management Corporation, which is a leading third party management company throughout the property management industry. It is a highly competitive organization that works on creating opportunity for their employees and managing with integrity. On the grounds that I work for Equity Management I know first-hand the extent they will go to meet their expectation out of every department and one thing they will always strive to be number one in the housing market. The greater part of these things are expressed inside Equity Management’s vision and mission statement. Their vision and mission are similar as it precisely what the company does and how it plans to develop.
The Mission: Managing with integrity. The Vision: Creating opportunity. The Core Values: will focus on the heart of our company. There are many other parts of Equity. Leasing Agents are the face of Equity. Property Managers are the arms of Equity. Regional Directors represent the head of Equity. But it takes one fundamental body part to keep all this going- the heart. Ultimately, the heart has to beat to make the parts all function together. The heart is where love, care and concern reside evidenced by our commitment to the job, one another and the people we serve. As Equity pays attention to the condition of our personal and corporate heart they can experience a deeper commitment to our everyday activities. The owner’s vision is to improve the heart of Equity in a deeper way. The owner realizes that our hearts inspire us to be our best, and create loyalty in ourselves. Becoming #1 in the industry means being financially strong and growing. But being #1 is also found in a company filled with loyal employees with high integrity, stellar performance while showing you care. I have witnessed this in my current employment with Equity.
Working at the corporate office was hard for me at times because of how clan culture the company is however it likewise has numerous motivating forces as well. I started my employment with Equity Management three years prior. This employment has been assisting me to develop passionately and also professionally. They are showing me to strive to be passionately and the best constantly. The major lesson I am learning while at Equity Management is their Core Values which is the heart of an employee to keep it functioning properly.
A great deal can be learned about an organization by analyzing and exploring the various aspects of organizational observation. My observation of Equity’s leadership and organizational culture would be healthy organization culture. .
