PERSONAL COMPUTER
.COMPUTER: AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR STORING AND PROCESSING DATA,
TYPICALLY IN BINARY FORM, ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTION GIVEN TO IT IN A
VARIABLE PROGRAM.
RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY
• Random Access Memory-Is a form of
computer Data Storage that Stores Data and
machine Code currently Being used. A
Random access memory device Allows data
items to be read or writhen in almost the same
amount of time irrespective of the physical
location of data inside the Memory.
SYSTEM HARDWARE
CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT
• A central processing unit (CPU), also
called a central processor or main
processor, is the electronic circuitry
within a computer that carries out the
instructions of a computer program by
performing the basic arithmetic, logic,
controlling, and input/output (I/O)
operations specified by the instructions.
HARD DISK DRIVE
• A hard disk drive (HDD), hard disk,
hard drive, or fixed disk,[b] is an
electro-mechanical data storage device
that uses magnetic storage to store
and retrieve digital information using
one or more rigid rapidly rotating disks
(platters) coated with magnetic
material. The platters are paired with
magnetic heads, usually arranged on a
moving actuator arm, which read and
write data to the platter surfaces.
MOTHERBOARD
• A motherboard is the main printed
circuit board (PCB) in a computer. The
motherboard is a computer’s central
communications backbone connectivity
point, through which all components and
external peripherals connect. ... These
may include processor sockets, DIMM,
HTX, PCI, PCIe and M.2 ...
HEAT SINK
• heat sink (also commonly spelled
heatsink[1]) is a passive heat exchanger
that transfers the heat generated by an
electronic or a mechanical device to a
fluid medium, often air or a liquid
coolant, where it is dissipated away from
the device, thereby allowing regulation
of the device's temperature at optimal
levels.
POWER SUPPLY
• A power supply is an electrical device
that supplies electric power to an
electrical load. The primary function of
a power supply is to convert electric
current from a source to the correct
voltage, current, and frequency to
power the load. As a result, power
supplies are sometimes referred to as
electric power converters. Some power
supplies are separate standalone pieces
of equipment, while others are built
into the load appliances that they
power.
INPUT AND OUTPUT DEVICES
KEYBOARD
• Keyboard-Is the piece of computer
hardware used to input text, characters,
and other commands into a Computer or
Similar Device.
INPUT DEVICES
MOUSE
• mouse, often simply referred to as a
mouse, is a hand-held pointing device
that detects two-dimensional motion
relative to a surface. This motion is
typically translated into the motion of a
pointer on a display, which allows a
smooth control of the graphical user
interface.
HEADPHONES
• Headphones (or head-phones in the
early days of telephony and radio)
traditionally refer to a pair of small
loudspeaker drivers worn on or around
the head over a user's ears. They are
electroacoustic transducers, which
convert an electrical signal to a
corresponding sound. Headphones let
a single user listen to an audio source
privately, in contrast to a loudspeaker,
which emits sound into the open air
for anyone nearby to hear.
DIGITIZER
• Graphics tablet (also known as a digitizer,
drawing tablet, drawing pad, digital
drawing tablet, pen tablet, or digital art
board) is a computer input device that
enables a user to hand-draw images,
animations and graphics, with a special
pen-like stylus, similar to the way a person
draws images with a pencil and paper.
PRINTER
• Printer – is a device that accept text and
graphic output from a computer and
transfers the information to paper,
usually to standard size sheets of paper.
OUTPUT DEVICES
PROJECTOR
• A projector or image projector is an
optical device that projects an image
(or moving images) onto a surface,
commonly a projection screen. Most
projectors create an image by shining
a light through a small transparent
lens, but some newer types of
projectors can project the image
directly, by using lasers. A virtual
retinal display, or retinal projector, is a
projector that projects an image
directly on the retina instead of using
an external projection screen.
SPEAKER
• Speakers, are speakers sold for use with
computers, although usually capable of
other audio uses, e.g. for an MP3 player.
Most such speakers have an internal
amplifier and consequently require a
power source, which may be by a mains
power supply often via an AC adapter,
batteries, or a USB port.
