This study examines the impact of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) on rural unemployment in Chanditala-I CD block, Hugli district, West Bengal. It highlights the legal right to 100 days of wage employment, the mixed results in implementation, and significant causes of unemployment in the region, including skills mismatch and low wage rates. The research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze employment generation patterns and the socioeconomic effects of unemployment in the area.
