Second Marking Pattern Analysis
I hope you are doing well. In school, I have improved greatly, and the second marking period has gone
better than the first. Soon, I will transfer into the third marking period, and I hope I am prepared for it.
Although the first marking period has not gone to plan, I made up for it in the second marking period,
and am looking forward to improving more in the third marking period. In English, I have been
experiencing more homework than usual, and we are taking extremely important notes that will help
me prepare from high school all the way through college. We have been taking spelling tests weekly,
and it has improved my spelling dramatically, but I still need to try my best. Also, the vocab from the
stories we read in the literature book has expanded my vocabulary greatly, and I will most likely
continue to expand my vocabulary. So far, I am satisfied with my English grade, and home to keep it
at the same grade throughout the year. In algebra, we will be taking the mid term exams soon, and will
have been preparing for weeks prior. I have been successful in algebra by maintaining my grade at an
A. Currently, we are learning about the equation y=mx+b, and a am sure I have ... Show more content

Currently, it is my worst major class, grade wise. Even though it has been easy for me the past couple
years, it became more difficult this year. On the bright side, it has stayed at a B, and has been
consistent for the entire second marking period. In science, we are learning about speed, acceleration,
and velocity, and it has been the easiest chapter in the book, in my opinion. Also, we are learning
about how someone on a plane can not see motion in a person on the plane with them, but a person in
the airport can. Mrs. Camilleri said that it is all about the angle that you are looking at the object from.
I am not satisfied with my science grade this year, but I still have half of the school year to bring the

Gender Inequality Since The Beginning Of Time Mankind Has...

Gender Inequality In America Since the beginning of time mankind has been divided and categorized
based on gender. Starting from birth males and females are assigned roles based are expected to act
and adhere to stereotypes given to that sex. Only in recent times have either gender stepped outside of
the gender boundaries. However, despite the new sense of individuality society tries to restrict them to
gender archetypes. Males are expected to be masculine and females are expected to me feminine and
if either tries to be the other they are told its wrong. There is so much inequality in society today, even
beyond the binary gender . Transgender persons also experience inequality in equal parts as
cisgendered people. In most cases though when the topic of equality is brought up the conversation
transitions to feminism, almost ignoring transgender. Inequality equally affects everyone not just
females. Despite the inequalities genders face, improvement can be seen. Although there are
arguments that say there are areas in American society where there has been very little advancement,
there are some areas where there has been major increase in gender equality especially for women
rights, women in government, women in the medical field, and transgender equality. While gender
equality as a whole is improving greatly in America there are arguments that there has been little to no
improvement. The reasons

Summary Of Rock And Roll Unplugged
Rock and Roll Unplugged
In the article Rock and Roll Unplugged , the author talks about the significance and influence that
African music and culture has on American and European culture. It opens with the origin of rock and
roll coming from the African blues and explains how rock and roll is very popular in mainstream
America. But many people are unaware that rock and roll and many other popular genres of music
such as soul, funk, punk, disco, rap and hip hop are all an extension of African culture. The
modification of Christian music that is present in African American churches is a result of the African
slaves incorporating African culture, dance, and music into the traditional Christian music. It was
documented that Africans had

Twelfth Night Triangles
Love triangles. They re complicated and quite messy, as shown in William Shakespeare s Twelfth
Night. In Twelfth Night, twins Viola and Sebastian of Messaline are separated by a shipwreck, and
both land in Illyria, but still separated, believing the other is dead. Meanwhile, Duke Orsino is
attempting to win over his crush, Lady Olivia, but she ll have none of him since her brother died and
she vows to mourn him for seven years, whilst avoiding everyone except her servants during such
time. Viola disguises herself as a man, under the pseudonym Cesario, and joins Duke Orsino s court.
Orsino sends Cesario to woo Olivia for him, but upon meeting each other, Olivia falls in love with

As an example, she says, [aside] O, what a deal of scorn looks beautiful/ In the contempt and anger of

is, and wanting him to be what she wants him to be, (although it isn t specified exactly what that is)
she still finds him beautiful in his contempt and anger. This quote shows her intense love for him
because she sees him in a positive light no matter what he s doing or feeling. She loves him
unconditionally, and intends to tell him so in the rest of the soliloquy. In addition, Olivia also says, I
love thee so, that, maugre all thy pride,/ Nor wit nor reason can my passion hide (III.i.159 160). Here,
she says that despite how clever she is, her love for Cesario can no longer be hidden. It shows her
affection for him because, through the melancholy of losing her brother, she broke her promise of
avoiding people in order to mourn him because of her intense love for Cesario. In spite of all Cesario s
pride, no sort of reason or caution could hide her love. It, again, shows her attitude of adoration
because nothing that anybody could do or say could hide her fondness of

The Importance Of A Common National Language
Common national language has consistently been a fundamental driving force to uphold national
bonding all over the globe. This can be recognized by historical examples ranging from those found in
Western countries to Asian countries, such as how French was adopted as a means to reunify France as
a whole country after the French Revolution and how Korea has made use of a common Korean
language to unite the Three Kingdoms and to secure statehood. In this context, common national
language refers to a language, both written and spoken that has connections, de facto or de jure with
users and the territory they occupy and exists originally but is then forged to be the first language to
shape a politically desired national identity. To strengthen the national solidarity, it has sometimes
been proposed that a typical national language is indispensable for accelerating the formation of an
appropriate national identity. This essay will argue that common national language is the key to
sustain nationhood because users can gain a greater sense of belongings and togetherness towards the
nation. This will be asserted by demonstrating how a particular concept can be stressed with a
language while speaking and by showing how a common national language could reduce the
communication gap between nationals with different mother tongues.
A key argument for adopting a universal national language is that speakers of a language can incline to
certain types of information while speaking (Mooney

The Pull Factors Of Human Trafficking In The United States
The United States as well has provided monetary aid to foreign nations to further tackle the push
factors of human trafficking. It has provided to aid other countries to raise awareness of the dangers of
human trafficking, and provide them with professional training and education in order to identify and
help victims of human trafficking.
In India, there are roughly 200,000 children reportedly trafficked each year and forced into domestic
servitude. Even though the Government is relatively involved in the monitoring of offenders and the
investigating of human trafficking cases, the laws are not fully enforced. One of the reasons is because
it is difficult for universal laws to work and be enforced in countries as large and regionally diverse as
India.
In South Africa, notorious as the main country used as a source, transit, and destination for trafficked

victims that have been rescued and liberated. These victims are in dire need of counseling, medical,
psychological and housing assistance. If these victims were helpless before they were trafficked and
exploited, their vulnerability after is most likely greater. Rehabilitation is not only crucial in order for

Fate In The Alchemist
The theme of the book the Alchemist, written by Paulo Coelho, is roughly this. It is about uncovering
one s destiny. The Alchemist follows the risky venture of a young herder named Santiago as he goes in
search of his fortune. Once he discovers it, it appears his entire journey has been to bring him to it.
The novel s central philosophy is that Santiago s desire to realize his destiny has a measurable effect
on the physical and abstract domains around him. Santiago s dangerous undertaking is launched when
he dreams of a boy telling him to go to the Great Pyramid in Egypt, igniting his lifelong love of travel.

Santiago s first dream, viewing the gem at the abandoned church that sends Santiago back to Spain

way in which people come to know their destiny. Another major point in the Alchemist is love. When

The Ten Steps Of Narcotics Anonymous
rehabcenter.net What are the Twelve Steps of Narcotics Anonymous?
If you are suffering from a drug addiction, you ve likely heard of groups like Narcotics Anonymous
and their dedication to the 12 step process. However, few people really understand what these 12 steps
entail and how they can be used to overcome addiction. Understanding them can help you decide
whether this process is right for you.
What Is Narcotics Anonymous?
Narcotics Anonymous or NA is something of a sister program to Alcoholics Anonymous. It was
founded in 1953 to help people recover from narcotic addiction. However, it has since expanded its
parameters and allows in people with any kind of addiction problems, including heroin, cocaine,
prescription drugs, and even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This isn t true: they are designed to be effective when utilized in any order, meaning you may be able
to make the 10th step before the 2nd. However, most people find that following the steps in order
helps give their life a focus and order that addiction had eliminated. These steps include:
1. We admitted that we were powerless over our addiction; that our lives had become unmanageable;
In this step, you face the reality of your addiction and come to terms with the fact that your life is out
of control. You are preparing yourself to receive the help you need.
2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity; in many ways,
this is one of the most important steps: you are surrendering your fate to a Higher Power in order to
help restore your life to stability. For many people, giving up this control will be a major challenge.
3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him;
giving yourself over to the God of your choice and asking Him for help is a beautiful moment in the
12 step program and one that will give you the strength to succeed.
4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves; total personal honesty is a must in
this step. You need to grasp the ways that your addiction has changed your behavior and caused you to
behave in ways that may shame you. However, you also need to identify your positive traits and work
towards strengthening

Jack struggles with keeping a steady head. Jack copes with this trauma by seeking revenge to the
culprit Mr. Harvey. Jack takes time to move past this in his life but soon learns to hold his family

Philip Zimbardo s The Lucifer Effect On Understanding...
Philip Zimbardo is one of the greatest American psychologist s of our time. Zimbardo is an extremely
intelligent psychologist with many accomplishments. He has spent most of his life committed to
researching how and why people s behavior change in situations, unexpectedly. For example, a good
person committing a bad crime. Zimbardo s research has brought a lot of knowledge to the study of
psychology. His work has helped me to better understand the reasoning behind people s behaviors and
actions. One of his best accomplishments and famously known for is the Stanford Prison Experiment.
Philip Zimbardo is also an amazing author of many books, including the book, The Lucifer Effect:
Understanding How Good People Turn Evil.
The Lucifer Effect makes an effort to perceive the significance of how good people turn bad. The
book views the lives of people who are put into difficult situations. It seeks to identify the
fundamental problem the person has. The fundamental problem that seems to raise question is the
distinctiveness of character transformations when put into certain situations. There are examples about
character transformation all throughout the book. In the first chapter, The Rape of Rwanda shows a
perfect example. It s shocking to read how the influence of one person changed the two villages. The
beliefs of that one person altered the minds of thousands. Men and women s thoughts were changed
into thinking it was ok to kill. It s disturbing to know how

Ethical Dilemma Working in obstetrics and gynecology, the patient population is all female. We see
many Muslim patients from Arab countries. In any obstetric or gynecology scenario Muslim women
must have a female provider (Mclean et al., 2012). We had a patient scheduled with one of the male
physicians for the first obstetric appointment, where a physical exam would be completed. When the

Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life Of Logistics Essay
In many aspects globalization is usually described as a process where due to an increase in trade,
technology and cultural exchange the world is getting more interconnected making distances less and
less which is giving rise to a capitalist economy. According to (Wallerstein 2004), world economy has
always been capitalist . It s like everyone is specialized to perform a certain task and that s how the
idea of division of labour is built within us which ties us to the system of capitalism. Competition and
the will to earn more is ingrained which creates state subsidies and makes strong states to use their
power to prevent weaker states from succeeding.
However, Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life of Logistics published in 2014 by the University of
Minnesota Press justifies globalization in a very complex way which opens the eyes of readers to the
violent aspects relating to it. In the title words such as trade and logistics may deceive some users with
the content contained in the book to business decisions and the revolution in military affairs.
Nonetheless, this is not the case as this book aims to describe the art and the science of logistics.
Cowen suggests that logistics is part of the reason of the changing world in political agendas, security
levels, rise of global production, labour practices and warfare. Cowen uses critical theory to elaborate
the revolution in logistics by going through the civilization of logistics and going in depth of the
economic and and

The Keirsey Temperament Sorter II
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter II is an instrument to determine an individual s personality traits.
Each of us has different personalities. Those personalities that we acquired through our parents,
guardians or that we learned ourselves. To understand another individual, we have to understand
ourselves first. The Keirsey Temperament Sorter II provides a better understanding for each
temperament or characteristic of a person and how an individual interacts with other personality types.
Having this tool can help an individual to make a better choice in life, especially in a workplace where
there are so many types of diverse groups.
Personality Type Each of us has different personalities. Beginning as an infant, all of us have no idea
who or what kind an individual we are. All of us see the world through the eyes of our very own
parents, guardians or other adults who tried to show and teach us what the world is all about. Those
individuals show us their ideas of what truly are right and wrong, or what is the good and bad.
However, as we grow, our peers have much influence over how we define ourselves. There could be
times; an individual would desire to fit in and belong to be like others. Likewise, in the society we
belong to, each of us has tried to learn and take in all of our experiences, and relationships with other
people. For this reason, Keirsey Temperament Sorter II (KTS II) is the best tool to use to describe an
individual s personality.

The girl who called out to him moments ago had brown skin with dark red eyes and light, mint green

Examples Of Racism In African American Literature
Much of African American literature deals with racism as a literary record of African American
experience. Racialism , a word we do not often hear in everyday speech, refers to the belief in racial
superiority, inferiority, and purity based on the conviction that moral and intellectual characteristics,
just like physical characteristics, are biological properties that differentiate the races. Racism refers to
the unequal power relations that grow from the socio political domination of one race by another and
that result in systematic discriminatory practices (for example, segregation, domination, and
persecution). Therefore, although anyone can be a racialist, in order to be a racist in order to be in a
position to segregate, dominate, or persecute one has to be in a position of power as a member of the
politically dominant group, which in America usually means that one has to be White . In other words,
the systematic practice of racism (for example, denying qualified persons of color employment,
housing, education, or anything else to which they are entitled) can occur on a regular basis only when
those who do it can expect to get away with it. And those who do it can expect to get away with it
when the group to which they belong controls most of the positions of power in the political, judicial,
and law enforcement systems.
To put the matter another way, the systematic practice of racial discrimination can occur only when
racism has become institutionalized.

Family Structures And Family Structure Essay
1. In her book The Unfinished Revolution, Kathleen Gerson argues that today, family pathways are
more important than family structure. In this context, family structure refers to the organization of a
family, and the way that it has been changing as a result of the gender revolution. For example, some
nontraditional family structures that are explored in the book include double parent families with both
parents earning, single parent families (mostly single mothers), and families with same sex parents.
Gerson argues that while family structures are not negligible, it is family pathways that are more
important for the children of the gender revolution. That is to say, the children value the dynamics of
their family more than the structure. They are more concerned about how well their parents are able to
provide them with the necessary emotional and financial support than they are about how well their
families follow a norm. For them, it is more about feeling like they re part of a family rather than just
physically being in one. Gerson emphasizes this when she explains that the people she interviewed
focused on the long term consequences of parental choices, not on the specific form or type of home
these choices produced at any one moment in time. One important implication of this argument is the
way in which the children of the gender revolution imagine their own romantic relationships
unfolding. Even there, they prioritize a feeling rather than a format. For example, one

Reflection Paper On Healing And Deliverance
Healing and Deliverance
I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first step
towards healing and deliverance. M y personal views and description of healing and deliverance stem
from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a process that does not
happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible sore that requires
attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take years for a cure. Healing requires constant
attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I remember falling off of a set
of stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely swollen to the point where I could not
walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and back into my room. I thought it was a minor sprain,
but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at times was extreme and required close attention. In
order to begin the healing process, I had to face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing
to begin to settle in. I had to use different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping
my ankle to reduce the swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply too much pressure to my
ankle which required me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was
healed and I was able to walk again without bearing any pain.
I shared the example of my ankle to connect this analogy with how we experience and deal with pain
and go through the process of deliverance. I believe our greatest pain comes when something is taken
from us like the death of a close loved one or tragedy that leaves a scar or memory that we will never
forget.
Pain hurts and generates different types of emotions and behaviors that can destroy our character and
peace of mind if we are not careful. Have you ever had a painful experience that left you numb,
perplexed and or even in a daze? The type of pain I described can take years to heal. I remember
watching the movie Diary of a Woman. The story centered on a cruel male lawyer and loyal wife who
had marital problems. The marriage experienced great sufferings and left great physical, mental and
emotional pain for both the wife and

Zeitoun Thesis
As of now, most people, including yourself, are probably aware about the mishap with Dave Eggers
and his award winning novel Zeitoun. Soon after the release of his narrative, the hidden violence of
the Zeitoun couple was disclosed to the public. Evidently proven, there has morosely been a history of
domestic violence and rage with Abdulrahman Zeitoun beating his wife with extreme measures.
Controversy was clearly evident upon whether or not Zeitoun should be allocated to upcoming juniors
in the summer after the released report. I firmly stand by prohibiting the reading of Zeitoun for
forthcoming 11th graders of Mills High School. The series of unfortunate events has completely
ruined the positive outlook on the novel and is slowly, but surely, destroying the reputation of
Muslims and their faith.

We are currently living in a world where Islamic terrorism is unfortunately showering the globe.
Muslims are constantly being bombarded with the accusations of being terrorists and overall violent
beings, which is rarely the case. Being a Muslim myself, I try to break and prevent this stereotype with
any chance I have because it is truly heartbreaking to see a religion become hated in the public eye.
Abdulrahman Zeitoun is sadly a rare example of this stereotype. In an article written by Victoria
Patterson in the LA Review of Books, Patterson contentedly recounts Zeitoun s character in Egger s
novel as a loving family man peaceful, calm, and devoted to his wife . Pride ran through my body

7 Prayers Of Jesus Research Paper
What do you learn by reading several of the twenty seven prayers of Jesus?
There is a lot to be learned when reading Jesus prayers. It s also worthy to note as a reader I don t just
look at the verse that was the prayer, bur also look before and after. I find reading the context the
prayer was developed around is very important. I will start off my reviewing several prayers I have
chosen from the list and give you what I learned and in the end summarize my thoughts.
Starting with Hebrews 2:12, Jesus prays to the Lord and states that he will proclaim his name to the
community. He states, in the midst of congregation I will praise you . That line really stands out to me
and makes me think, why does Jesus the Son of God pray to himself? ... Show more content on

There are many different genres in the Bible. More so there are tons of prayer going in the Bible that
fit into different genres. Looking at different literary literary devices that encompasses genre we can
begin to see how prayer really is a genre and what distinguishes it as such.
Jesus tells us how to pray. [Matthew 6:9 13] This is an example of technique which fits into what
makes prayer a genre. Jesus was showing how prayer should be done specifically. There is also
different historical time frames in regards to prayer. Looking at how Abraham prayed in Genesis 18 to
how Jonah prayed in Jonah 2 you can see a major difference in the times.
Looking at Jonah 2, you can see that Jonah s prayer to God is a Psalm. Jonah uses metaphors
throughout this prayer. Going back to Abraham s prayer he is speaking with no metaphors or
figurative language to God. This is very important because the differences is what makes prayer have
different genres.
Different tones in prayer are heard as well, from when Jesus was begging God to not to kill him on the
cross [Matthew 26:39] to Jesus in a much joyful tone as he rejoices. [Luke 10:21] Not only tone sets a
genre but so does the content of the prayer which changes from character to character in the Bible.
These are just a few examples of what distinguishes prayer as a

Stock Market and Stock Option Plan
Should the company implement the proposed employee stock option plan? In a typical stock option
plan, the employee is offered a specific number of shares which he/she can exercise (buy) at some
specified time in the future. The price at which the employee can buy the stock is equal to the market
price at the time the stock option was granted (grant price). The employee s gain is equal to the market
value of the stock at the time it is exercised, less the grant price. If the market price of the stock
remains the same or decreases relative to the grant price, then the stock option is worthless. Stock
options are typically offered to managers, most technical individual contributors and about half of the
other professionals. Smaller ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

view, receiving stock options is a huge benefit as the employee can reap financial success from the
firm. But is it really so? The executives may suffer from the more volatility then the market as they are
too under diversified with their stake too over concentrated in a firm. Employees should not put their
eggs instruments and salary into one basket. Thus, this will lead to the undervaluing of options by the
employees. This shows that options are wasted on employees. Market Paranoia Stock options
compensation may also lead to the market being deeply suspicious of the corporation. When top
executives are paid in stock options compensation, they get huge compensation packages which are
hidden away from public scrutiny. Furthermore, stock options also dilute shareholders. Management
may also manipulate the market before the stock options grant date to get a better deal for themselves
which would lead to excess volatility. Thus, having stock options compensation may lead to distrust

A Look at Humor, Laughter, Tickling, and the Brain Essay
A Look at Humor, Laughter, Tickling, and the Brain
Everybody smiles and laughs at some time or another. The first laughter appears at about 3.5 to 4
months of age (8)., way before we are able to speak. The average adult laughs 17 times a day (4).
Even monkeys and apes have some facial expressions that are similar to human smiles. But really,
why do we laugh? Why are we not able to tickle ourselves? What part of the brain is responsible for
laughter and humor? Why do we say some people have no sense of humor? We never go to the doctor
because we feel good or because we think something is funny. Therefore, it is not a clinical problem;
that is why there has not been much research done on the topic of laughter and the brain. ... Show

Laughter also increases blood pressure and heart rate, changes breathing, reduces levels of certain
neurochemicals (catecholamines, hormones) and provides a boost to the immune system (3). Can
laughter improve health? It may be a good way for people to relax because muscle tension is reduced
after laughing. Human tests have found some evidence that humorous videos and tapes can reduce
feelings of pain, prevent negative stress reactions and boost the brain s biological battle against
infection (1). More studies are needed in this field to uncover whether humor or some other
component such as distraction, is the predominant factor in these results.
Researchers believe we process humor and laughter through a complex pathway of brain activity that
encompasses three main brain components. In one new study, researchers used imaging equipment to
photograph the brain activity of healthy volunteers while they underwent a sidesplitting assignment of
reading written jokes, viewing cartoons from The New Yorker magazine as well as The Far Side and
listening to digital recordings of laughter. Preliminary results indicate that the humor processing
pathway includes parts of the frontal lobe brain area, important for cognitive processing; the
supplementary motor area, important for movement; and the nucleus accumbens, associated with
pleasure (1). Investigations support the notion that parts of the frontal lobe are involved in humor.

My Mother Pieced Quilts
Culture influences people s perspectives of the world and others through their childhood and how,
when, and where they were raised. In the essay, An Indian Father s Plea, Robert Lake writes about
how his Indian child s traditional way of learning is different from those in western education systems
and that he s not a slow learner but learns in a unique way from his peers. In the personal essay, Two
Ways to Belong in America, Bharati Mukherjee describes her differing views of living in America
with her sister, despite both being raised in India. In the poem, My Mother Pieced Quilts, by Teresa
Palomo Acosta, Teresa how this quilt that her mother made for her incorporates all these pieces of her
past that are stitched together. In the short story, Everyday Use, a mother describes the effects of living
in a low income community and a certain style of parenting that shaped the way her two daughters
view their past and their heritage and how both views are completely different. In all these pieces of
writing, they all illustrate the effects of beliefs, heritage, and symbolism within a culture and how it
molds the way people interpret others and the world.
An example of beliefs is in An Indian Father s Plea, Robert Lake narrates the struggles of his child

The third strategy, focus is when a firm chooses a narrow segment within its industry and tailors its
offerings (strategy) to that segment (Porter, 1980). Focus strategies involve achieving cost leadership
or differentiation within niche markets in ways that are not available to more broadly focused players.
Finally, Porter labels firms that follow each generic strategy, but do not achieve any of them as stuck
in the middle . Porter asserted that the three strategies were distinct mutually exclusive alternatives.
He argued that firms may be able to successfully pursue more than one of these strategies
simultaneously, but this is rarely possible. (Porter, 1980: 35). A firm which failed to follow one of the
strategies was stuck in the middle, which guaranteed the firm low profitability. This objective of this
paper is to thoroughly explain the three generic competitive strategies as presented by porter. The

Xenophon s main reason for disliking Menon was his deceitfulness and dishonest nature: The shortest
road to the achievement of his desires lay he thought through false swearing, lying, and cheating
(Xenophon, 2.6). Xenophon also valued the honesty of Cyrus. He would tell no lies to anyone
(Xenophon, 1.9). Themistocles was also deceitful and willing to do whatever was necessary to
survive, as illustrated by his clever trick in Salamis: so he cast around for a counter stroke and hit
upon his celebrated trick Siccinus (Plutarch ,3.12). Even when Themistocles did not lie outright, he
valued his manipulative powers: Themistocles told them that he had brought two gods, persuasion and
compulsion (Plutarch, 3.21). He used his cunning to get his way, threatening to lie to get the sailors in
trouble if they crossed him: but partly by entreaties and partly by the threat that he would denounce
them to the Athenians and make it appear that they had known all along who he was, but had taken
him on board in the first instance for a bribe, he forced them to stand out to sea and reach the coast of

when honesty was not productive enough, in contrast to the truth telling Cyrus, whom Xenophon

Though Offred s mind has been affected by the indoctrination, she still expresses her individualism
throughout the novel. This is seen through small acts of rebellion like when she takes the butter to use
as moisturizer and by manipulating language to retain what is left of her sense of humour. It s an
event, a small defiance of rule, so small as to be undetectable, but such moments are the rewards [she]
hold[s] out for [her]self, like the candy [she] hoarded, as a child, at the back of a drawer. Offred relies
on these rewards because they symbolize an opportunity for individuality, whether it is sneaking a
look at one of the guardians or touching herself during the night, she attempts to clutch at what
arguably makes her human. Contrastingly, when given a substantial choice by the doctor, she remains
indecisive and almost apathetic which leads to the diminishment of the readers sympathy. This would
suggest that it isn t the society that is responsible for the dehumanisation of the individual, it is the
individual themselves.
The most substantial difference, however is the way in which both writers convey the importance of
retaining individualism in society. Zamyatin uses the characters D 503 and I 330 in contrast to each
other to display different schools of thought in the situation surrendering ones individualism for a

To maximise foreign exchange earnings efficiency, countries where imports are attained from should
be targeted for tourism promotion, so as to allow influx of there currency. E.g. if most of the

can be done by targeting Swiss tourists.
Rise in Gross National Product
Tourism is an economic activity that provides to the GNP and per capita income of a country. In
countries with rich tourist history it could provide up to 25% of the local economy.
In 1994 Korea[3] for instance set up a successful 5 year plan that help them achieve a U.S $ 500

The Role Of Culture And Its Influence On Culture
Topic 3 Role of Culture
Culture can be defined as customs, attitudes and beliefs that is shared throughout a group of members
that is part of society. These attitudes, customs and beliefs are passed down from generation to
generation (Ali Abadi 2015). However, as time progress some cultures may change slightly, but still
keep the most distinctive aspects that are unique to a particular culture.
Culture is important because, it defines our values and beliefs, and that is, essentially, what guides the
decisions we make (Kumar 2012). Culture plays a big role in how we behave in specific situations and
how we perceive the world around us. Culture determines how its members interact with each other.
According to Griffin and Pustay (2007) the global environment is impacted by the elements of culture.
These elements includes social structure, religion, communication methods, language, norms and
attitudes. Cultures can also be collectivist, which is when the needs and goals of the culture as a whole
is placed above the needs and goals of an individual, or individualist, which is when individual needs
take priority over collective needs of a group (Cherry 2015).
For this reason it can be said that one s culture influences one s drive to work, what one would expect
the work place to be like and how the workplace operates on a daily basis as well how to treat co
workers or what treatment to expect from co workers (Ali Abadi 2015). For example, there are some
cultural differences

Investigating The Heat Of Reaction Of A Combustion Reaction
Purpose
Utilize Hess s Law to determine the heat of reaction of a combustion reaction.
Procedures
Part A Reaction of Magnesium with Hydrochloric Acid:
Materials were gathered and the mass of a calorimeter was measured, then HCl was poured into the
calorimeter and the mass was measured again. A 7 cm magnesium ribbon strip was cut into two parts,
approximately 4 cm and 3 cm, respectively. The temperature of the HCl was recorded, then the 3 cm
magnesium strip was added to the solution and the temperature was measured again. Another trial was
conducted with the 4 cm strip after the disposal of the first mixture.
Part B Reaction of Magnesium Oxide with Hydrochloric Acid:
Materials were gathered and the mass of a calorimeter was measured, then HCl was poured into the
calorimeter and the mass was measured again. The temperature of the hydrochloric acid was recorded,
then .20 grams of magnesium oxide was added to the HCl solution and the temperature was measured
for the highest achieved value. Another trial was conducted after the disposal of materials.

Physical And Cognitive Development Of Ella Fitzgerald s Life
Her struggles in adolescence continued, but there was not a lot of consequence on her physical and
cognitive development during her young adulthood years. Like most individuals during this time, her
health status could be considered as good, possibly even excellent. This is a normal trend for young
adults. In addition, she started to be surrounded by social support, which is very good for cognitive
development. She struggled some with reflective thinking, but as an overall, having social support
kept her on her feet when life continued to try to knock her down.
While her career was beginning to take off, Ella Fitzgerald was married twice. The first one lasted less
than a year as she got a divorce after learning about her husband s criminal record and then the second
one was a little bit different. With her second marriage, she loved her husband and wanted to build a
life with him, ultimately adopting a son with her husband. Despite her desires, however, her busy
career as a jazz singer got in the way and they were divorced six years later. These life events go with
Erikson s theory of intimacy versus isolation. She never quite figured out the concept of intimacy in a
long term relationship, at least not enough to be successful in this theory. With this being said, it did
not affect her further social and psychological development during midlife in the ways that one would
think. In midlife, Ella Fitzgerald really figured herself out. She reached Erikson s theory of

Activation of Protein Kinases by Means of Stochastic...
Short overview The current technology is based on protein kinase activation by means of stochastic
resonance mediated through pulsed electrical fields of very low signal strength. The mode of action
reveals how even small pulsed electrical fields can have a major influence on cellular function and
physiological consequences. It is well known that biological sensory systems transform analog
quantities such us pressure, temperature, electric fields (E fields) etc. into trains of information. All the
features of systems exhibiting stochastic resonance were found to be present in cell signaling systems
which are intrinsically noisy, nonlinear threshold systems. We observed the effects of pulsed electrical
fields of intensity near that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We visualize the mechanism as that of a working Brownian ratchet where transitions into a different
activated state can be favored. We observed that changing frequencies of E fields causes enhanced
activation from 2 to 100 Hz and that higher frequencies cause reduced activation. Thus the system
fulfills the requirements of a stochastic resonance system with a ∩ shaped curve. Introduction:
Stochastic resonance (SR) occurs in a system with a threshold or barrier such as in a protein when a
correct input of information transfer (changes in specific electrical fields effecting charged particles
and signal to noise ratio) is maximized in the presence of a specific non zero level of stochastic input
noise (such as randomly fluctuating electrical fields) thereby lowering the response threshold. The
system will then resonate at a particular noise level. Thus, stochastic resonance is a term which
describes that one time scale is established by the period of the external stimulus and the other by the

positions in protein subunits. In such systems the essence of the signal enhancing effect of SR can be
understood in following way: In the absence of stimuli there are few and random

Examples Of Blank Verse In Macbeth
Macbeth: Verse/Prose CR During Macbeth they use blank verse throughout most the poem to show
rythm and poetry. Blank verse is a type of poetry that does not rhyme. In the tragedy of Macbeth he
switches his writing style to Prose which is written or spoken language in its ordinary form, without
metrical structure. He would do this to make the writing sound formal or like whoever the character is,
is speaking. He does this to take the sing songy voice from the writing. An example from the text
would be from the letter Macbeth wrote to his wife at the beginning of the story. He switched to prose,
to make it sound like a letter. With him doing this, this allows the reader to tell that it is a letter and
read it in a tone that is like conversation.

  • 2. Second Marking Pattern Analysis I hope you are doing well. In school, I have improved greatly, and the second marking period has gone better than the first. Soon, I will transfer into the third marking period, and I hope I am prepared for it. Although the first marking period has not gone to plan, I made up for it in the second marking period, and am looking forward to improving more in the third marking period. In English, I have been experiencing more homework than usual, and we are taking extremely important notes that will help me prepare from high school all the way through college. We have been taking spelling tests weekly, and it has improved my spelling dramatically, but I still need to try my best. Also, the vocab from the stories we read in the literature book has expanded my vocabulary greatly, and I will most likely continue to expand my vocabulary. So far, I am satisfied with my English grade, and home to keep it at the same grade throughout the year. • 3. Gender Inequality Since The Beginning Of Time Mankind Has... Marichelle Arnold Professor Lee March Political Science 1100 6 March 2015 Gender Inequality In America Since the beginning of time mankind has been divided and categorized based on gender. Starting from birth males and females are assigned roles based are expected to act and adhere to stereotypes given to that sex. Only in recent times have either gender stepped outside of the gender boundaries. However, despite the new sense of individuality society tries to restrict them to gender archetypes. Males are expected to be masculine and females are expected to me feminine and if either tries to be the other they are told its wrong. There is so much inequality in society today, even beyond the binary gender . Transgender persons also experience inequality in equal parts as cisgendered people. In most cases though when the topic of equality is brought up the conversation transitions to feminism, almost ignoring transgender. Inequality equally affects everyone not just females. Despite the inequalities genders face, improvement can be seen. Although there are arguments that say there are areas in American society where there has been very little advancement, there are some areas where there has been major increase in gender equality especially for women rights, women in government, women in the medical field, and transgender equality. While gender equality as a whole is improving greatly in America there are arguments that there has been little to no improvement. The reasons ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote shows her intense love for him because she sees him in a positive light no matter what he s doing or feeling. She loves him unconditionally, and intends to tell him so in the rest of the soliloquy. In addition, Olivia also says, I love thee so, that, maugre all thy pride,/ Nor wit nor reason can my passion hide (III.i.159 160). Here, she says that despite how clever she is, her love for Cesario can no longer be hidden. It shows her affection for him because, through the melancholy of losing her brother, she broke her promise of avoiding people in order to mourn him because of her intense love for Cesario. • 6. The Importance Of A Common National Language Common national language has consistently been a fundamental driving force to uphold national bonding all over the globe. This can be recognized by historical examples ranging from those found in Western countries to Asian countries, such as how French was adopted as a means to reunify France as a whole country after the French Revolution and how Korea has made use of a common Korean language to unite the Three Kingdoms and to secure statehood. In this context, common national language refers to a language, both written and spoken that has connections, de facto or de jure with users and the territory they occupy and exists originally but is then forged to be the first language to shape a politically desired national identity. To strengthen the national solidarity, it has sometimes been proposed that a typical national language is indispensable for accelerating the formation of an appropriate national identity. This essay will argue that common national language is the key to sustain nationhood because users can gain a greater sense of belongings and togetherness towards the nation. This will be asserted by demonstrating how a particular concept can be stressed with a language while speaking and by showing how a common national language could reduce the communication gap between nationals with different mother tongues. A key argument for adopting a universal national language is that speakers of a language can incline to certain types of information while speaking (Mooney ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We admitted that we were powerless over our addiction; that our lives had become unmanageable; In this step, you face the reality of your addiction and come to terms with the fact that your life is out of control. You are preparing yourself to receive the help you need. 2. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity; in many ways, this is one of the most important steps: you are surrendering your fate to a Higher Power in order to help restore your life to stability. For many people, giving up this control will be a major challenge. 3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him; giving yourself over to the God of your choice and asking Him for help is a beautiful moment in the 12 step program and one that will give you the strength to succeed. 4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves; total personal honesty is a must in this step. In some cultural groups, religion dictates the care that is given and by whom (Pacquiao, 2016). The purpose of this paper is to discuss an ethical dilemma that I have encountered in my nursing practice and how the dilemma was perceived. Culturally congruent care will also be defined. Describe an Ethical Dilemma Working in obstetrics and gynecology, the patient population is all female. We see many Muslim patients from Arab countries. In any obstetric or gynecology scenario Muslim women must have a female provider (Mclean et al., 2012). We had a patient scheduled with one of the male physicians for the first obstetric appointment, where a physical exam would be completed. When the patient arrived, her spouse informed the staff that she cannot be seen by a male provider. The male physician was not familiar with this preference. Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life Of Logistics Essay In many aspects globalization is usually described as a process where due to an increase in trade, technology and cultural exchange the world is getting more interconnected making distances less and less which is giving rise to a capitalist economy. According to (Wallerstein 2004), world economy has always been capitalist . It s like everyone is specialized to perform a certain task and that s how the idea of division of labour is built within us which ties us to the system of capitalism. Competition and the will to earn more is ingrained which creates state subsidies and makes strong states to use their power to prevent weaker states from succeeding. However, Deborah Cowen s The Deadly Life of Logistics published in 2014 by the University of Minnesota Press justifies globalization in a very complex way which opens the eyes of readers to the violent aspects relating to it. In the title words such as trade and logistics may deceive some users with the content contained in the book to business decisions and the revolution in military affairs. Nonetheless, this is not the case as this book aims to describe the art and the science of logistics. Cowen suggests that logistics is part of the reason of the changing world in political agendas, security levels, rise of global production, labour practices and warfare. Those personalities that we acquired through our parents, guardians or that we learned ourselves. To understand another individual, we have to understand ourselves first. The Keirsey Temperament Sorter II provides a better understanding for each temperament or characteristic of a person and how an individual interacts with other personality types. Having this tool can help an individual to make a better choice in life, especially in a workplace where there are so many types of diverse groups. Personality Type Each of us has different personalities. Beginning as an infant, all of us have no idea who or what kind an individual we are. All of us see the world through the eyes of our very own parents, guardians or other adults who tried to show and teach us what the world is all about. Those individuals show us their ideas of what truly are right and wrong, or what is the good and bad. However, as we grow, our peers have much influence over how we define ourselves. There could be times; an individual would desire to fit in and belong to be like others. Likewise, in the society we belong to, each of us has tried to learn and take in all of our experiences, and relationships with other people. For this reason, Keirsey Temperament Sorter II (KTS II) is the best tool to use to describe an individual s personality. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Examples Of Racism In African American Literature Much of African American literature deals with racism as a literary record of African American experience. Racialism , a word we do not often hear in everyday speech, refers to the belief in racial superiority, inferiority, and purity based on the conviction that moral and intellectual characteristics, just like physical characteristics, are biological properties that differentiate the races. Racism refers to the unequal power relations that grow from the socio political domination of one race by another and that result in systematic discriminatory practices (for example, segregation, domination, and persecution). Therefore, although anyone can be a racialist, in order to be a racist in order to be in a position to segregate, dominate, or persecute one has to be in a position of power as a member of the politically dominant group, which in America usually means that one has to be White . In other words, the systematic practice of racism (for example, denying qualified persons of color employment, housing, education, or anything else to which they are entitled) can occur on a regular basis only when those who do it can expect to get away with it. And those who do it can expect to get away with it when the group to which they belong controls most of the positions of power in the political, judicial, and law enforcement systems. To put the matter another way, the systematic practice of racial discrimination can occur only when racism has become institutionalized. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Family Structures And Family Structure Essay 1. In her book The Unfinished Revolution, Kathleen Gerson argues that today, family pathways are more important than family structure. In this context, family structure refers to the organization of a family, and the way that it has been changing as a result of the gender revolution. For example, some nontraditional family structures that are explored in the book include double parent families with both parents earning, single parent families (mostly single mothers), and families with same sex parents. Gerson argues that while family structures are not negligible, it is family pathways that are more important for the children of the gender revolution. That is to say, the children value the dynamics of their family more than the structure. They are more concerned about how well their parents are able to provide them with the necessary emotional and financial support than they are about how well their families follow a norm. For them, it is more about feeling like they re part of a family rather than just physically being in one. Gerson emphasizes this when she explains that the people she interviewed focused on the long term consequences of parental choices, not on the specific form or type of home these choices produced at any one moment in time. One important implication of this argument is the way in which the children of the gender revolution imagine their own romantic relationships unfolding. Even there, they prioritize a feeling rather than a format. For example, one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. Reflection Paper On Healing And Deliverance Healing and Deliverance I began by saying Healing and Deliverance, often avoided, but necessary. Introspection is the first step towards healing and deliverance. M y personal views and description of healing and deliverance stem from my own experiences and the experiences I have witnessed. Healing is a process that does not happen overnight. It is when something has left a painful memory or visible sore that requires attention. Time tends to heal pain, but pain can take years for a cure. Healing requires constant attention to the areas where the brokenness, pain and hurting remains. I remember falling off of a set of stairs and twisting my ankle. My ankle became extremely swollen to the point where I could not walk. I had to literally crawl to the restroom and back into my room. I thought it was a minor sprain, but it turned out to be a major fracture. The pain at times was extreme and required close attention. In order to begin the healing process, I had to face the pain and provide constant care in order for healing to begin to settle in. I had to use different techniques that include soaking, medicating and wrapping my ankle to reduce the swelling. I had to be extremely careful not to apply too much pressure to my ankle which required me to keep my ankle elevated and apply ice. After a period of time my ankle was healed and I was able to walk again without bearing any pain. I shared the example of my ankle to connect this analogy with how we experience and deal with pain and go through the process of deliverance. I believe our greatest pain comes when something is taken from us like the death of a close loved one or tragedy that leaves a scar or memory that we will never forget. Pain hurts and generates different types of emotions and behaviors that can destroy our character and peace of mind if we are not careful. Have you ever had a painful experience that left you numb, perplexed and or even in a daze? The type of pain I described can take years to heal. I remember watching the movie Diary of a Woman. What part of the brain is responsible for laughter and humor? Why do we say some people have no sense of humor? We never go to the doctor because we feel good or because we think something is funny. Therefore, it is not a clinical problem; that is why there has not been much research done on the topic of laughter and the brain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Laughter also increases blood pressure and heart rate, changes breathing, reduces levels of certain neurochemicals (catecholamines, hormones) and provides a boost to the immune system (3). Can laughter improve health? It may be a good way for people to relax because muscle tension is reduced after laughing. Human tests have found some evidence that humorous videos and tapes can reduce feelings of pain, prevent negative stress reactions and boost the brain s biological battle against infection (1). More studies are needed in this field to uncover whether humor or some other component such as distraction, is the predominant factor in these results. Researchers believe we process humor and laughter through a complex pathway of brain activity that encompasses three main brain components. In one new study, researchers used imaging equipment to photograph the brain activity of healthy volunteers while they underwent a sidesplitting assignment of reading written jokes, viewing cartoons from The New Yorker magazine as well as The Far Side and listening to digital recordings of laughter. Preliminary results indicate that the humor processing pathway includes parts of the frontal lobe brain area, important for cognitive processing; the supplementary motor area, important for movement; and the nucleus accumbens, associated with pleasure (1). Investigations support the notion that parts of the frontal lobe are involved in humor. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the essay, An Indian Father s Plea, Robert Lake writes about how his Indian child s traditional way of learning is different from those in western education systems and that he s not a slow learner but learns in a unique way from his peers. In the personal essay, Two Ways to Belong in America, Bharati Mukherjee describes her differing views of living in America with her sister, despite both being raised in India. In the poem, My Mother Pieced Quilts, by Teresa Palomo Acosta, Teresa how this quilt that her mother made for her incorporates all these pieces of her past that are stitched together. In the short story, Everyday Use, a mother describes the effects of living in a low income community and a certain style of parenting that shaped the way her two daughters view their past and their heritage and how both views are completely different. In all these pieces of writing, they all illustrate the effects of beliefs, heritage, and symbolism within a culture and how it molds the way people interpret others and the world. The third strategy, focus is when a firm chooses a narrow segment within its industry and tailors its offerings (strategy) to that segment (Porter, 1980). Focus strategies involve achieving cost leadership or differentiation within niche markets in ways that are not available to more broadly focused players. Finally, Porter labels firms that follow each generic strategy, but do not achieve any of them as stuck in the middle . Porter asserted that the three strategies were distinct mutually exclusive alternatives. He argued that firms may be able to successfully pursue more than one of these strategies simultaneously, but this is rarely possible. (Porter, 1980: 35). A firm which failed to follow one of the strategies was stuck in the middle, which guaranteed the firm low profitability. This objective of this paper is to thoroughly explain the three generic competitive strategies as presented by porter. The paper further analyses the competitive strategy of apple Inc and the application of porter s generic competitive strategy before drawing vital conclusions on the subject. 2.0 Porter s three Generic Competitive Strategies Generic strategies were used initially in the early 1980s, and seem to be even more popular today. Xenophon s main reason for disliking Menon was his deceitfulness and dishonest nature: The shortest road to the achievement of his desires lay he thought through false swearing, lying, and cheating (Xenophon, 2.6). Xenophon also valued the honesty of Cyrus. He would tell no lies to anyone (Xenophon, 1.9). Themistocles was also deceitful and willing to do whatever was necessary to survive, as illustrated by his clever trick in Salamis: so he cast around for a counter stroke and hit upon his celebrated trick Siccinus (Plutarch ,3.12). Even when Themistocles did not lie outright, he valued his manipulative powers: Themistocles told them that he had brought two gods, persuasion and compulsion (Plutarch, 3.21). He used his cunning to get his way, threatening to lie to get the sailors in trouble if they crossed him: but partly by entreaties and partly by the threat that he would denounce them to the Athenians and make it appear that they had known all along who he was, but had taken him on board in the first instance for a bribe, he forced them to stand out to sea and reach the coast of Asia (Plutarch, 3.25). Though Offred s mind has been affected by the indoctrination, she still expresses her individualism throughout the novel. This is seen through small acts of rebellion like when she takes the butter to use as moisturizer and by manipulating language to retain what is left of her sense of humour. It s an event, a small defiance of rule, so small as to be undetectable, but such moments are the rewards [she] hold[s] out for [her]self, like the candy [she] hoarded, as a child, at the back of a drawer. Offred relies on these rewards because they symbolize an opportunity for individuality, whether it is sneaking a look at one of the guardians or touching herself during the night, she attempts to clutch at what arguably makes her human. Contrastingly, when given a substantial choice by the doctor, she remains indecisive and almost apathetic which leads to the diminishment of the readers sympathy. This would suggest that it isn t the society that is responsible for the dehumanisation of the individual, it is the individual themselves. The most substantial difference, however is the way in which both writers convey the importance of retaining individualism in society. • 40. The Role Of Culture And Its Influence On Culture Topic 3 Role of Culture Culture can be defined as customs, attitudes and beliefs that is shared throughout a group of members that is part of society. These attitudes, customs and beliefs are passed down from generation to generation (Ali Abadi 2015). However, as time progress some cultures may change slightly, but still keep the most distinctive aspects that are unique to a particular culture. Culture is important because, it defines our values and beliefs, and that is, essentially, what guides the decisions we make (Kumar 2012). Culture plays a big role in how we behave in specific situations and how we perceive the world around us. Culture determines how its members interact with each other. According to Griffin and Pustay (2007) the global environment is impacted by the elements of culture. These elements includes social structure, religion, communication methods, language, norms and attitudes. Cultures can also be collectivist, which is when the needs and goals of the culture as a whole is placed above the needs and goals of an individual, or individualist, which is when individual needs take priority over collective needs of a group (Cherry 2015). For this reason it can be said that one s culture influences one s drive to work, what one would expect the work place to be like and how the workplace operates on a daily basis as well how to treat co workers or what treatment to expect from co workers (Ali Abadi 2015). For example, there are some cultural differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Physical And Cognitive Development Of Ella Fitzgerald s Life Her struggles in adolescence continued, but there was not a lot of consequence on her physical and cognitive development during her young adulthood years. Like most individuals during this time, her health status could be considered as good, possibly even excellent. This is a normal trend for young adults. In addition, she started to be surrounded by social support, which is very good for cognitive development. She struggled some with reflective thinking, but as an overall, having social support kept her on her feet when life continued to try to knock her down. While her career was beginning to take off, Ella Fitzgerald was married twice. The first one lasted less than a year as she got a divorce after learning about her husband s criminal record and then the second one was a little bit different. With her second marriage, she loved her husband and wanted to build a life with him, ultimately adopting a son with her husband. Despite her desires, however, her busy career as a jazz singer got in the way and they were divorced six years later. These life events go with Erikson s theory of intimacy versus isolation. She never quite figured out the concept of intimacy in a long term relationship, at least not enough to be successful in this theory. With this being said, it did not affect her further social and psychological development during midlife in the ways that one would think. In midlife, Ella Fitzgerald really figured herself out. • 43. Activation of Protein Kinases by Means of Stochastic... Short overview The current technology is based on protein kinase activation by means of stochastic resonance mediated through pulsed electrical fields of very low signal strength. The mode of action reveals how even small pulsed electrical fields can have a major influence on cellular function and physiological consequences. It is well known that biological sensory systems transform analog quantities such us pressure, temperature, electric fields (E fields) etc. into trains of information. All the features of systems exhibiting stochastic resonance were found to be present in cell signaling systems which are intrinsically noisy, nonlinear threshold systems. We observed the effects of pulsed electrical fields of intensity near that of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We visualize the mechanism as that of a working Brownian ratchet where transitions into a different activated state can be favored. We observed that changing frequencies of E fields causes enhanced activation from 2 to 100 Hz and that higher frequencies cause reduced activation. Thus the system fulfills the requirements of a stochastic resonance system with a ∩ shaped curve. Introduction: Stochastic resonance (SR) occurs in a system with a threshold or barrier such as in a protein when a correct input of information transfer (changes in specific electrical fields effecting charged particles and signal to noise ratio) is maximized in the presence of a specific non zero level of stochastic input noise (such as randomly fluctuating electrical fields) thereby lowering the response threshold. The system will then resonate at a particular noise level. Thus, stochastic resonance is a term which describes that one time scale is established by the period of the external stimulus and the other by the position to position switching rate induced by the stochastic process or noise. By this effect a synchronization of a nonlinear system to a weak periodic signal can be enhanced by the presence of random fluctuations. A weak periodic signal is one which cannot by itself produce switchin g between positions in protein subunits. In such systems the essence of the signal enhancing effect of SR can be understood in following way: In the absence of stimuli there are few and random ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blank verse is a type of poetry that does not rhyme. In the tragedy of Macbeth he switches his writing style to Prose which is written or spoken language in its ordinary form, without metrical structure. He would do this to make the writing sound formal or like whoever the character is, is speaking. He does this to take the sing songy voice from the writing. An example from the text would be from the letter Macbeth wrote to his wife at the beginning of the story. He switched to prose, to make it sound like a letter.
