This document provides an introduction to business environment. It defines business environment as the set of conditions, both internal and external, that affect the functioning of a business. The internal environment includes factors like man, material, money, machinery and management that are within a business's control. The external environment includes governmental, legal, geographical, political, socio-cultural, demographic factors outside a business's control. The external environment is further divided into micro/operating environment consisting of suppliers, customers, competitors and public, and macro/general environment consisting of economic, political, social, technological, natural and international conditions creating opportunities and threats.
