Essay On Cells
Writing an essay on the topic of cells can be quite challenging, primarily due to the vastness and
complexity of the subject matter. Cells are the fundamental units of life, and delving into their
structure, function, diversity, and significance requires a deep understanding of biology and
related disciplines.
One of the challenges is striking the right balance between providing basic information for
readers unfamiliar with the topic and delving into more advanced concepts to keep the essay
informative and engaging for those with a background in biology. It's essential to present
accurate information while avoiding oversimplification or overwhelming the reader with
technical jargon.
Furthermore, the topic of cells encompasses various subtopics, such as cell biology, cell structure,
cellular processes, cell division, and cell specialization, among others. Choosing which aspects to
focus on and how to organize the essay coherently can be daunting.
Additionally, staying updated with the latest research findings and advancements in the field is
crucial for writing a comprehensive and insightful essay. Incorporating relevant studies,
experiments, and scientific discoveries adds depth and credibility to the discussion but requires
thorough research and critical analysis.
Moreover, crafting a compelling thesis statement and structuring the essay effectively to present
arguments, evidence, and analysis in a logical flow is another aspect that requires careful
attention.
In summary, writing an essay on the topic of cells demands a solid understanding of biology,
effective research skills, critical thinking abilities, and proficiency in conveying complex
scientific concepts in a clear and coherent manner.

Joseph McCarthy Essay
Joseph McCarthy Throughout the early 1950 s, the nation was deeply engrossed
in fears of a Communist takeover. At a time when America s fears were at their
very height, Joseph McCarthy, a Republican Senator from Wisconsin pushed
America s fears to an extreme. As a ploy to get himself re elected, and to make
America hate Communism as much as he did, the Senator devised a devious
scheme. McCarthy, while giving a speech, held up a piece of paper and exclaimed, I
have here a list of 57 known Communists who are currently employed by the U.S.
State Department (Fried, 89). A few days later, McCarthy raised the number of
people on the list from 57 to 205. The reaction to McCarthy s announcement was
absolute panic. Until that time, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone knew about it, but no one ever talked about it. The first knowledge many
American s had of Communism came from Winston Churchill s Iron Curtain
Speech (Matusow, 45). Churchill basically said in his speech that the Soviet
Union was pushing forward a global Communist takeover. And Churchill also said
that he believed, We should not let such a force loose on the planet (Matusow, 46).
That was the first time many American eyes were opened to Communism, and
McCarthy made sure it was not the last. The entire chaos that Senator McCarthy
caused had become collectively known as The Red Scare (Feuerlicht, 34).
McCarthy used this entire Red Scare idea to boost his hopes for re election. But an
elected official is supposed to be a representative of the people. All McCarthy did
was abuse his power and pull the wool over the people s eyes. McCarthy did not
work for the benefit of the people. He only worked for the benefit of himself. Next,
the people whose lives McCarthy destroyed must be looked at. In the immediate
aftermath of McCarthy s speech came many accusations. America wanted the
people that McCarthy said were on his list. But when asked for the list, McCarthy
said he lost it, and he could not remember which individuals were on the list. But he
said he did see some key Hollywood figures on it. That was when the focus shifted to
all of Hollywood. If anyone thought that an actor or actress seemed suspicious, they
would simply start gossip about

Robinson Crusoe Essay
Robinson Crusoe As A Picaresque Novel Introduction Robinson Crusoe is a novel
by Daniel Defoe, first published on 25 April 1719 and is one of the most famous
and beloved book of all time. The first edition credited the work s protagonist
Robinson Crusoe as its author and many readers believed that he was a real person

Call to Ministry
What is a call to the ministry ? by Ken Temple Regional Representative Southeast

ministry ? Is it more subjective or objective? It is just for preachers and pastors
and missionaries, or is it also for the Christian businessman and plumber, the
housewife and mother? Is it only one s vocation, or does it also refer to salvation
and relationship with Christ ? Os Guinness, in his book, The Call, writes: Calling is
the truth that God calls us to Himself so decisively that everything we are,
everything we do, and everything we have is invested with a special devotion,
dynamism, and direction lived out as a response to His summons and service .[1]

God wants more Christians to stay in the business world, the arts, entertainment,
politics, journalism, etc. and bring their Christian convictions and world view to
bear on how they conduct their business, write songs or films, or paint pictures.
One of the reasons for the recent decline of Christian impact on our culture is
because too many Christians have left the fields of science, math, film, art,
journalism, and especially politics, and hence there was a vacuum left that the
humanist, skeptic, atheist, and agnostic filled. So, now when in recent years
Christians have tried to boldly make an impact on culture in these various fields,
especially politics, we are finding the whole world view of our culture has changed
and the world view of absolutes, right and wrong, the Ten Commandments, prayer,
belief in God, convictions about abortion and homosexuality as sin are scoffed at,
laughed at, labeled as intolerant, and even pushed out by media blitz or ignoring
the facts or not giving Christians opportunity to voice their opinion. When
considering a call to ministry, let me encourage you to not dichotomize too sharply
between the secular and sacred. God wants to use all kinds of vocations to both
disciple the nations ( Matt. 28:19 ) and be salt and light in the culture ( Matthew
5:13 16) and have dominion and manage the earth (Genesis 1:26 28) Inner Calling

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Analysis
The Epic of Gilgamesh Summary and analysis Introduction The Epic of Gilgamesh
is an excerpt of the original text of the Epic listed in the Sources of the Western
Tradition , 5th edition, by Perry, Peden and Von Laue (2003). The Epic of
Gilgamesh is the story of King Gilgamesh who is the powerful king of Uruk, the
incidents in his life, the associations he makes, the encounters he has, and the
transition that occurs in his life in relation to his gaining knowledge of the mortality
of human life. The story further outlines the transformation that Gilgamesh gets with
respect to his outlook after the traumatic death of his friend Enkidu, which makes
him to embark on a quest for eternity. Gilgamesh subjects the people in his kingdom
to hard rule. The Gods create Enkidu to counter him. Friendship develops between
Enkidu and Gilgamesh and together they launch adventures for conquests together.
In the process, they kill the terrible monster, Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. For
this, they incur the wrath of Gods, who decide to put an end to the life of Enkidu.
Enkidu gets a dream about his impending death and dies after suffering for a few
days with sickness. The death of Enkidu shatters Gilgamesh who wants to
immortalize himself by escaping death. He goes in search of Utnapishtim, who is
blessed with immortality by the Gods. Utnapishtim tells him that death is inevitable
for a human and immortality is impossible to achieve. The Epic of
Thomas Jefferson Dbq
Thomas Jefferson composed Notes on the State of Virginia in 1781 during the time
of political uncertainty that the United States faced after it declared independence
and each state operated its own unique government under the Articles of
Confederation. The notes were composed as the answers to a series of questions
posed by a foreigner of distinction who was residing in Virginia. As Jefferson has a
clear bias towards Virginia, it can be concluded that he took offense to the questions
posed which likely undermined the value of the state and possibly the country.
Jefferson s status as a notable, wealthy, white man makes his opinions in regard to
freedom, slavery, race, and resources the accepted answers to whatever questions had
been presented. Jefferson defined freedom as being based on natural rights and the
principles of republicanism. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The natural rights that he defined as life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of
happiness set the precedent for the freedom and respect that we enjoy today.
Although his participation in the atrocity of slavery is without a doubt a stain on his
reputation, it was not an uncommon practice at the time. While that does not make
his actions acceptable, to discredit him as a founding father for it would discredit so
many others, including George Washington. Similarly, his blatant racism is by no
means excusable, but his ignorance was shared by the great majority of people white
Americans in the eighteenth century, including many other founding fathers and
future presidents. His defense of the country against the criticism of a foreigner is a
display of his true love for the state of Virginia as well as the United States. As the
primary author of the Declaration of Independence, a defender of the Constitution,
and the third President of the United States, Jefferson is one of the most notable and

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark
Sometimes, man is too eager to repair natural imperfections that may exist using
science, rather than seeing these imperfections as beautiful natural occurrences,
which will eventually lead to the destruction of nature. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The
Birthmark, it appears that Aylmer the main character wants to show the world that
perfection is not beauty, and he demonstrates this with his wife Georgiana and that
science should not alter the way that nature set man on this world to be. Hawthorne
was a major asset to the transcendental movement, and this short story is a perfect
example why. Nathaniel Hawthorneattempts to show the world the comparison
between perfection and beauty mainly by: a psychoanalytic version of the plot and
Sigmund Freuds three fundamentals.
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark, the main character, Aylmer, wants to have
a perfect wife. His wife, Georgiana, is a very beautiful woman with just one flaw, the
birthmark on her face. As a scientist, Aylmer tries to create a solution that will get rid
of Georgiana s birthmark, thus making her perfect. According to Hawthorne,
however, this is not possible.
During the transcendental phase of American life, which involved literature from
Hawthorne, transcendental writers would support Nature and its importance. In The
Birthmark, Nathaniel Hawthorne tries to show the people that nature does not make
anything flawless, and that this is the beauty of it. Nature, in one shape or another,

Likewise, for centuries, people and corporations have invested in enterprises in
other countries. In fact, many of the features of the current wave of globalization
are similar to those prevailing before the outbreak of the First World War in 1914.
But policy and technological developments of the past few decades have spurred
increases in cross border trade, investment, and migration so large that many
observers believe the world has entered a qualitatively new phase in its economic

from $468 billion to $827 billion. Distinguishing this current wave of globalization
from earlier ones, author Thomas Friedman has said that today globalization is

Zoo Descriptive Essay
I take a whiff of the musty air, my little fingers tightening around my mother s hand
as she gives me a gentle squeeze for protection. Her stern but loving hazel eyes
follow me as I bob along the stone sidewalk, my jet black mary jane s clopping like
a horse against the cemented stone tiles indicating a pathway for the visitors of the
zoo. I felt jitters run down my spine from excitement. My motherand I immediately
made our way to the crowded batexhibit, younger children screeching from fear or
delight. As the door juters open, the faint smell of bat guanofills the air as a plague. I
look up at my mom with my beautiful brown eyes as she holds a smile, attempting
not to grimace from the putrid smell. I however, rush inside and straight to the
figurine machine, begging my mom for the lion figure. Of course my mother caves
in, placing a silver quarter that would blind me if the light hit it. My petite hand
proceeded to harshly shove the quarter within the machine. We wait maybe two or
three minutes before the brilliantly colored wax figurine outputted itself. It was
scalding hot to my hands before I began to play with it. Well, that was until I quickly
gave it to my mom, shoving it inside of her purse that was colored with floral print,
the fringe hanging like still windchimes.
My mother and I then head towards the wombat area. The waves of heat hit my
face as I gently shake my head as my hair starts to stick to my neck. I believe my
mom has it much worse in the heat, as
Supernatural In Macbeth Analysis
How does Shakespeare represent the supernatural in Macbeth?
In Macbeth, the supernatural is a key feature of the play. In this essay, I will explore
the ways in which the supernatural are represented by Shakespeare. The presence of
the supernatural from the outset of Macbeth is apparent, the witches talk about
Macbeth before he has made his first appearance on stage. This already gives the
supernatural a presence in the play and seems as if the supernatural will play a
significant role in Macbeth s life.
While some supernatural presences are questionable to the audience such as the
ghost of Banquo and the hallucinations of Lady Macbeth during her demise, the
witch s appearance has an objective existence as they are seen not only by Macbeth
but also by Banquo. Other supernatural encounters that Macbeth witnesses are
questionable to whether they are real, such as the ghost of Banquo and the
appearance of the dagger, therefore posing the question, are they real? Critics and
modern audiences alike believe that Macbeth may have been suffering with PTSD
due to his time as a solider. In order to survive, Macbeth became savage. This nature
is highlighted when Macbeth unseam d [a man] from the nave to th chops . There is
a difference between having the means to kill a man but also enjoying the thrill of the
hunt. Highlighting that Macbeth may have a form of blood lust. The manner that
Macbeth kills, is conveyed with sheer brutality. PTSD until quite recently was not

The Theme Of Characterism In The Bet By Anton Chekhov
The old banker was walking up and down his study and remembering how, fifteen
years before, he had given a party one autumn evening (Chekhov 210) is the opening
for the short story, The Bet by Anton Chekhov. This short story is a suspenseful
writing about a banker and a lawyer, who makes a bet with each other. The lawyer
bets the banker that he can stay in confinement for fifteen years for two million
dollars. At the end of the short story, irony comes into play when the lawyer decides
to leave confinement five minutes before his time is up and the banker wins the bet.
One theme that is carried out through the story is that if you stay in prison for a
lifelong sentence, it will kill you slowly.
One strategy used by Chekhov to illustrate the theme is the use of a protagonist and
antagonist. The protagonist in this short story is the banker. A protagonist is a
character who initiates the events in the story and the banker is the character that
proposes the bet with the lawyer. The antagonist can also be the banker. The banker
can also be considered the antagonist because he is the character who is willing to
kill a person. In the short story the banker gives readers evidence that he is going to
murder the lawyer when he says, I have only to take this half dead man, throw him on
the bed, stifle him a little with the pillow, and the most conscientious expert would
find no sign of a violent death (Chekhov 215). The fact that Chekhov uses this
strategy allows the story to be suspenseful and more interesting. The story becomes
more interesting and suspenseful because there is a battle against the protagonist and
the antagonist.
Another strategy used in this short story to employ the theme is the point of view.
Point of view allows the readers to analyze what perspective the story is being told
from. In the short story, The Bet the point of view is third person limited. The third
person limited point of view only allows the reader to know the thoughts and feelings
of one character throughout the story. In the short story, Chekhov has the author
declare, Then he remembered what followed that evening (Chekhov 212). By having
the author declare this it allows readers to know what the banker was thinking
Hero In Beowulf
Aristotle had once said that Men are marked from the moment of birth to rule or be
ruled . (Littrell, Aristotle , 2016). Each trait that one must have to be a Hero is in the
following: The hero must be of noble birth, the heroes story must arouse fear and
empathy to keep the reader interested and entertained by what could happen happen
next, the heromust be intelligent so that he may learn from his mistakes, and lastly
the hero must be faced with a very serious decision that he must make. All of these
traits are what all four of these characters in these books, stories and plays have in
order to be a hero.

In the Iliad Achilles had been often aware of his mistakes but still continued with
his plans. For instance, after Achilles fights Hector and defeats him Achilles ties
Hector s body to the back of his chariot to humiliate Hector before tossing Hector s
body onto a garbage heap. Later after Hector s brother Paris finds out about Hector
s death, he goes after Achilles and shoots him in the heel and kills him. Hector on
the other hand proved to be very respectful to whomever he had been fighting and
admits his mistakes. For example, Hector makes two fateful decisions. In the first
decision, Hector disregards Poulydamas s advice and keeps the Trojans encamped on
the plain of Troy. This allowed Achilles counterattack on the Trojans. Secondly,
Confident that he can withstand Achilles on his own, Hector waits outside the walls
of Troy. When Hector s courage fails him he starts running away from Achilles.
Hector later on accepted his fate and fought Achilles but lost. Beowulf had been
another character that learns from his mistakes even with his intelligence. After
Beowulf kills the monster Grendel he believes he has the strength to defeat the

Medical Information Technology ( Meditech ) Essay
Medical Information Technology (MediTech) is a privately held company, which
holds approximately 19% of the hospital electronic health record (EHR) market
share in the United States (Rouse, M). In 2015, the company s combination of
products and service revenues were $475.5 million, and in that year MediTech

MediTech products have been widespread among midsize hospitals and other

navigating the company through challenging times. In 2009, when Obama
administration launched the electronic health records incentive programs, this
provided incentive payments to hospitals and physician offices that executed
electronic health records and demonstrated significant use. In 2012, MediTech saw
its revenues increase to its maximum level of $597.8 million. However, revenue has
decreased from 2013 through 2015 as of this writing. According to company records,
the declines were primarily due to lower product bookings (Rouse, M). The

How Did Jack And Mary Do That Justifies A Finding That...
Chapter 8 Q A
3. For a crime to be committed, the prosecutor must be able to prove a criminal
intent and an overt act to carry out that intent. Jack and Mary agreed to rob a series
of banks. Prior to beginning their bank robbery spree, they were arrested and charged
with criminal conspiracy. What act did Jack and Mary do that justifies a finding that
they committed the crime? Explain.
As a general rule, crime involves combination of act and criminal intent. A crime is
committed when it is acted upon with a criminal intent. An act of crime without a
criminal intent is not a crime. Once an idea of a crime has been communicated and

the jury informed the judge that it was hopelessly deadlocked and could not reach a

contending that a second trial constituted double jeopardy. Is he correct? Explain.
In this case, the second trial would not be considered double jeopardy. Double
jeopardy means that a person cannot be tried twice for the same crime. He was
never acquitted of the crime. Since the jury could not reach a verdict, it was a
mistrial case. Once a verdict was reached and carried out, Devine could not be
trailed again for same crime. In the case that the defendant appeals and obtains
reversal of a conviction, they may be tried again. The reversal means that the
defendant was not in jeopardy. The reversal is basically a willingness of the
defendant to be tried for crime. In another case, If the crime is committed against
two or more people or in multiple states or if the crime is in violation of both state
and federal laws the defendants protection against double jeopardy does not prevent

A Dog Is A Man s Best Friend
If I can t act, I would go to college and maybe be a veterinarian. There was a young
girl, animals were always a fascination to her. At a very young age, she knew that
she wanted to be a doctor but she was not very sure until the age of 12 that she
suddenly knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Trips to the zoo were more
fascinating to her than the average child. Growing up in her teenage years, she
discovered that as humans, they share the Earth with many different species, our
looks differ, our languages differ, some of the ways they choose to live and survive
are very different and that humans seem to be better than the animals. The quote A
dog is a man s best friend is an example of how amazing the way two different
species can communicate and develop a bond between one another.Sometimes the
bond between humans and animals aren t always bad but they are not always sweet
either. Humans and animals might clash from time to time and problems arise, such
as interrupting habitats, killing one another, etc. can cause different outlooks on
coexisting with one another, due to the fact that the animals are at a disadvantage of
speaking our language, the only species that can decide and make decisions in this
situation are humans and that means we need to make logical decisions and bring
better outcomes for these animals. Everyone occupies a purpose or duty on this
Earth and a few of us feel that helping others is something that we would like to do.

William Shakespeare s most loved comedies. The play was written in 1598 and was

Final Term Paper
Negligence
Rule of Law In the court of law, negligence can be described as an unintentional
tort. Negligence is a duty to the plaintiff (party which sues) that the defendant (party
being sued) owes, based on a breach of promise to exercise care and safety. The
plaintiff must prove that the defendant s actions fell short of a reasonable standard.
To prove a negligence case, there are several foundational requirements that must be
present in order to carry out a trial. The first being, one must establish a duty of
care, or relationship between the plaintiff and defendant. The simplest form is one s
obligation to the world, in which you must act in such a way to not put another
person in unreasonable risk of harm. In the cases being presented, Fudge v. The City
of Kansas City, and Purton v. Marriott International, this duty of care is established
as Delmar Henley and James Fudge were citizens of the same town but did not know
each other prior to the accident, nor did Dr. Jared Purton nor Michael Landri (of
Marriott) have a prior connection. The second step is to determine the duty owed to
the defendant. In our cases, monetary compensation were at stake. Proximate
causality, or primary cause of the sustained injury represents the third foundation, and
an act from which an injury results and ultimately answers the question as to whether
or not the defendant s action is closely enough related to the plaintiff s
Mafia Essay
The Mafia way of life may seem like a romantic updated version of the western
movie played out on the streets of the big cities where the good guys and the wise
guys who share the same instincts and values do battle before an enthralled public
but it is actually very different. The Mafia is really just a group of uneducated thugs
making moneyby victimizing the public. Initially, the Mafiawas setup as a prominent
supplier of bootlegged liquor, but it has spread into many different areas of crime.
During this research paper I will discuss three aspects of the Mafia which are crime,
structure and decline in leadership.
The Mob siphons off public funds, rigs contracts, corrupts unions which many hard

The codes can be shown by how one can be as frail as old Carlo Gambino the last
real Godfather, Boss of Bosses before he died in 1976, but if by a simple yes or no,
a nod or shake of the head, or a waggle of a finger one has the power of death over
anyone in his organizatoin. The Mafia is made up of thieves, and murderers who
are all greedy for money. On the flip side, the Mafia is based on respect. Each
member must respect and follow all orders give by a higher ranking member.
Although the make up of the Mob is based on respect, members usually kill their
way to the top. A Mafia family is headed by a boss who is in charge of everything,
he is the one who controls all of the power because in the Mafia the rule of law is
the rule of the despot. Each family has an underboss who mediates disputes and
advises the boss, as well as a number of captains. Under each captain are soldiers, the
lowest official Mafia member. The Italian Mafia is not the only organized crime
group around, there are many other ethnic groups the Mafia has to coexist with. Not
only is the mob facing new competition from Chinese gangs and Russian immigrants,
but it must also contend with the hungrier drug syndicates from Latin America and
the Caribbean, whose staggering wealth and firepower make the mob look quaint.

Postmodernist View Aesthetic Beauty
Beauty transcends the eye of the beholder because whatever is, objectively true and
noble and right (Groothuis 256) embodies beauty according to God s standard.
Although postmodernist view aesthetic beauty through the lens of subjectivity God
expects Christians to discern beauty through objectivity. In other words, we attribute
beauty (moral and aesthetic) to expressions and characters that reflect God s glory
according to his values identified in scripture. Postmodernist views argue, the
meaning of an artwork need not be fixed or even discernible (246) so the nature of
expressions is aimless. While Christian, objective standards for aesthetics, ...esteem
art as a medium for truth and beauty... . In fact, C.S Lewis, Christian author and

Benefits Of Physical Exercise For Health
Declining physical activity is surprising because in the West, it is often believed
that many people do exercise. It is true that sports circles and newspaper articles
devoted to the benefits of physical exercise for health are more numerous than ever
but, overall, the information related to the usefulness of physical activity seem not
lead to behaviour change (O Brien et al 2015). Sedentary lifestyles have serious
consequences for public health. In particular, in recent years, obesity is increasing
dramatically throughout the European Region. Obesity, which is not simply a
matter of appearance, causes serious diseases and significantly increases the risk of
diabetes and cardiovascular diseases (O Brien et al 2015). Surveys in various
countries of the European Region show low levels of physical activity in many
populations. Physical activity seems to be disappearing. We travel by car more
than ever, take care jobs increasingly sedentary and spend our leisure by spending
less and less energy. Due to technical progress, even the simplest tasks are
mechanized and there is no need to strain to survive (O Brien et al 2015). The
fitness and sports is a global social phenomenon, recognized by all. It is clearly
growing from a few years worldwide, especially in Europe, America and Asia,
comprising all sport activities carried out in gyms. From one point of view it is
comparable to the process of hatching and development of modern sport in the 2nd
half of the twentieth century.
2x 3 Categories Of Stress
Students were asked about how anxious they were and then were randomly
assigned to drink a coffee provided. They were then given a survey before their
exam. The 2x3 between subjects experiment is caffeine use (caffeinated,
decaffeinated) and anxiety levels (low, medium, high) on a student s stress levels
before an exam. The survey had some demographic questions and had five questions
for each category of stress that they rated on a 10 point Likert scale. The categories
of stress are physical, emotional and psychological stress.
So you would first input the data into excel with the IV1 is having two levels, so
you would have a number like 1 for caffeinated and 2 for the decaffeinated product

Bedanyich Smetana Research Paper
BedЕ™ich Smetana was born in Litomysl on 2 March, 1824. Franz Liszt first
spotted his musical talent and gave him financial support. At the age of 42 he made
his first success as a composer with his operas. In 1874 he suffered from a purulent
genital ulcer and later on from a long lasting throat inflammation and eczema over
his whole body. First he had hearing problems and vertigo, and soon became deaf on
the right ear and partly on the left. He was an introvert, depressed and gloomy, having
hearing hallucinations (paramusias) that he used while composing. He became
confused in the last year of his life; he had attacks of frustration, outbursts of fury and
anger. Finally he became completely confused, had hallucinations, and sometimes

Therefore, he made 8 musical dramas, of which The Bartered Bride was the most
famous. On an entire, his musical shows were stupendously devoted, in view of his
country s history, legends and culture that left a legacy of which his kin would be
pleased. Consequently, they were exceptionally normal for euphoric, hopeful Czech
music, with inescapable show. His symphonic ballads additionally revealed a huge
obligation to Liszt s instrumental music. Like musical shows, the music was by and

a mammoth perfect work of art which portrayed the excellent scene of his nation and
the national legends. In spite of the fact that Smetana is an exceptionally regarded as
a Czech writer, the vast majority of his pieces, particularly his piano works and
musical shows, are still once in awhile performed today. Smetana s musical
inventiveness was incomparably amazing. Although he usually relied on Czech

The Quest For Non Romantic Adoration
Devdas rise above limits to grasp their affection in a profound way. They repudiate
their material belonging and embellishments in the quest for non romantic adoration.
This is all that much like some female holy people in Hinduism, who said that
common relational unions speak to both the bait and the servitude of the world,
while their association with God (once in a while discussed as a profound marriage)
speaks to a renunciation of the world and customary parts (Kinsley, 1981). Paro‟s
move from youth to adulthood is spoken to through the picture of a lotus
blossoming. In Hindu otherworldly examination the lotus has a unique spot. It is
viewed as unadulterated and lovely, as well as an image of goodwill, peace,
flourishing and bliss (Bhalla, 2009). In its maturing stage, the lotus symbolizes her
inactive adoration that has not achieved full acknowledgment. With the blossoming
of a lotus, which is viewed as blessed in Hindu conviction, Paro‟s profound
adoration achieves a completely created stage. Amid their initially meeting as grown
ups, Paro lights a „diya‟ or a light, something that Hindus do while performing
petitions to God. In Hindu family units a customary oil light is lit day by day before
the sacrificial stone of the Lord (Chary, 2009). Promptly after that, Devdas is
appeared from his feet upwards, hoisting his status from minor mortal to profound
significant other. Vasudevan (2010) applies the idea of darshan to this scene, where

For any relationship to succeed both parties need patience, tolerance, and
understanding. This becomes especially important when individuals come from
dissimilar cultural backgrounds. If the individuals take the time to learn about the
other s culture many stereotypes and misconceptions will be eliminated. If they slow
down and listen to one another they will likely find that despite their differences they
share many basic needs; this can serve as the common ground or a starting point
needed for understanding one another. However, if both parties remain staunchly

Geert Hofstede, a cultural anthropologist examined cultures and ordered them
according by dominant patterns of value orientations regarding power, self, gender,
predictability, and time (Lustig Koester, 2010). Analyzing the power distance
patterns of Miss Daisy and Hoke s respective cultures it becomes evident there were
major differences overcome in order for these two to form a relationship. All
cultures have preconceived beliefs regarding class inequalities. Miss Daisy held it to
be true that each individual has a rightful place in society and that authority figures
should not be confronted or questioned. During the time period this film portrays the
European American culture can be ascribed as a culture with a large power distance.
African American culture during the civil rights movement was seeking to minimize
power distances, and believed that class and social inequalities should be minimized.
Throughout most of the film Miss Daisy exemplifies large power distances
demonstrating her beliefs regarding her status, and her beliefs that her authority
should not be challenged. Despite her insistence that she was not prejudice, she
repeatedly demonstrated her beliefs that she was superior to and separate from
African Americans by her continually referencing them as they, and referring to
African Americans as little children who need to be instructed on what to do. Miss
Daisy also demonstrated her power distance
Female Sex Offenders
Most people tend to overlook women sex offenders compared to men who are sex
offenders. Women are just as likely to be a sex offender just as men are. Typically,
women sex offenders tend to prey on their students if they happen to be a school
teacher. This gives them the access to hundreds of under aged children every school
year that they can prey on sometimes, be in an intimate relationship with them. When
someone hears something regarding a sex offender, we typically automatically
assume it is a male who committed the act and the crime. Males tend not to report
their victimization, which may affect statistics. Some men even feel societal pressure
to be proud of early sexual activity, regardless of whether it was unwanted, according

About ninety five percent of people who are unwilling being forced into sex are
usually young women. Many people tend to stereotype women being caring,
harmless, and trusting compared to men. While the rates of sexual acts being forced
by women are lower compared to men, they do still commit the illegal activity upon
others. Many female sex offenders tend to be younger aged compared to male sex
offenders. The average age of female sex offenders is about thirty six years old and
tend to be friends, family, or acquaintances of the victim. Female sex offenders tend
to persuade their victims easier than male sex offenders since females are usually
motherly and nurturing, making them seem more trustworthy. It tends to be more
difficult to distinguish a female sex offender compared to female sex offenders.
Female sex offenders are usually under reported, unrecognizable and considered more
ethically acceptable than male abuse, according to an article on
Marfan s Syndrome Essay
Marfan s syndrome is a rare hereditary disorder of the body s connective tissue. The
phenotypic traits include being tall, abnormally long stretched limbs and in the
most severe cases the aorta can be prone to rupture and retinal detachment can
occur [1]. Seventy five percent of cases for this multisystem disorder are genetic
and inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion (a child can inherit it from just one
parent): 25% are sporadic where neither parent has the syndrome [2]. Its prevalence
is 1/5000 and of these affected individuals each has a 50% chance of passing on the
mutated gene to their offspring [3]. Marfan s syndrome is caused by mutations in
the fibrillin 1 gene (FBN1) located on chromosome 15q21.1 [4]. Fibrillin is a large

Two thirds (approximately 66%) of Marfan s syndrome sufferers experience
problems in the cardiovascular system and have mitral valve prolapse; where blood
may flow back from the ventricles into the atrium in a process called mitral valve
regurgitation. This may require valve repair or valve replacement. If cardiac
arrhythmias occurs where the heartbeat becomes irregular there is the risk of sudden
death [2]. Thoracic aortic aneurysm is also prevalent in Marfan s syndrome sufferers.
This is a condition caused by the widening of the aorta due to weakness in the walls
of the vessel. Aneurysm can lead to rupture itself or to aortic dissection where the
aorta wall tears thus allowing blood to flow between the layers of the blood vessel
walls. It can result in rupture or in a decrease in blood flow to the organs. This
situation is very dangerous and is most likely to require heart surgery or aortic
replacement
Wes Anderson Influence
Lukas Hamlescher Dr. Neuendorf COM 320 Preliminary Draft Wes Anderson is a
staple in the independent film community. He writes, directs, and produces most
of his films. He takes time to develop stories unique to him and from each other.
Nonetheless, all of Anderson?s films have an undeniable familiarity between them
as he imprints his style on everything he creates. However, if he did not have
inspiration or influences for his films, his creativity and artistic flair may not have
a proper way to be displayed. His films could lack an essential essence whether in
diversity of plot or themes, etc. Perhaps without influences, Anderson would not be
a filmmaker at all. Fortunate for all fans of Anderson, he is inspired and does make

pre planning and a dedicated thought process. Ray admits to similar pre planning

Managing Mentoring
With the development of the more organic and less formal organisational structures
the role of mentors has shifted with these changes. Unlike previously where mentors
where seen as formal trainers who taught newcomers the processes and got them
acquainted with the cultures and the systems within the organisation. Which required
good interpersonal skills and a good knowledge of the activity or tasks the mentee
would have to undertake, and be able to effectively relay or demonstrate the tasks or
activities to the mentee. As opposed to more recently where a mentor would have to

Accompanied with the current shift towards more organic organisation structures and
more emphasis on the learning organisation, mentoring provides a more all round
experience to the mentees by getting them confident with their role with the
organisation. It also improves communication throughout the organisation by
allowing mentees to give feedback and learn in a not so formal fashion which helps
people feel more relaxed and develops the formal and informal culture of the
organisation.
From the organisations standpoint mentoring is a cost effective way of training and
developing new staff, and it helps retain existing staff by giving them more
responsibility. It is argued that with the underlying causes behind facilitated
mentoring lying in cost effectiveness, does this underlying tenet prevent a real
chemistry existing between the mentor and the mentee.
This is not necessarily the case in all organisations, the Metropolitan police force (a
non profit organisation) have recognised the need for mentoring and have
incorporated it both internally and externally to assist them in their day to day work.
The Metropolitan Police have started a mentoring scheme for young ethnic officers
by pairing them with a mentor from the same background, to help them get prepared
for the job and also to act as counselors and to deal with any reservations they may
have about joining the force. This type of mentoring scheme is based more around

John Wesley Movement Of Grace
The principle element of John Wesley s theology is the supernatural working of
God s grace. As developed by Collins, for Wesley the Christian life was a journey
made only possible by the working of God s grace (Collins, 2007). Through the
entire work of God and man, God s nature of grace is evident. Wesley describes the
movement of God s grace in and through man in what he describes as the Via
Salutis or the Way of Salvation. Furthermore, the Via Salutis address several facets
of grace that Wesley identifies, including; prevenient grace, convincing grace, saving
grace, assurance, sanctifying grace and glorifying grace (Collins, 2007). The
movement of grace is defined as prevenient grace, or preemptive grace. Prevenient

Wesley s intent is clear. There is a maturing and yielding process that every
follower of Christ must submit to in order to discover the depth and riches of God s
love. As Mulholland describes (Mulholland Barton, 2017), there is a great union to
be had between God and man. Within that union is the transforming power to
discover oneness with God. A union that creates oneness that relinquishes self
control and yields to the eternal transforming power of God s grace. Further this
process of yielding, uniting, maturing, and pursuing is the central theme of Wesley s
desire for every man, woman, and child to experience the depth of God s holy
The Dna And Its Structure
Genes hold biological information that must be copied accurately for transmission to
the next generation. Before the DNA double helix was discovered two biological
question were unanswered: how can information for specifying an organism be
carried in chemical form? and how is it accurately copied? It was not until the 20th
century when the DNAmolecule was discovered and suggested answers to both these
questions. (Alberts B, Johnson A, Lewis J, et al, 2002) With the help of many
scientists we now know exactly what the DNA molecule is, its structure, and its
function. The knowledge gained throughout the years on DNA has allowed many

This is the molecule that contains the biological instructions that make each
species unique. (Deoxyribonucleic Acid DNA, 2012) Deoxyribonucleic acid
(DNA) is the primary chemical component of chromosomes and is the material of
which genes are made of. It is also referred to as the molecule of heredity. This is
because parents transmit copied portions of their own DNA to their offspring
during reproduction (The DNA Molecule, n.d.). Before completely understanding
DNA it is important to look at the development of the study of DNA throughout the
years and finally look at the structure as well as what this knowledge now allows us
to do. The information of DNA is not something that scientists and others have
always been aware of. The knowledge in which we hold today is somethings that is
a product of multiple studies from multiple people who discovered different
aspects of the molecule. Such explanations of explorations of DNA are possible
because of the many scientists who paved the way. This began almost a century
before the Nobel Prize, in 1868, was awarded to James Watson, Franklin Crick, and
Maurice Wilkins. It was a young Swiss physician Friedrich Miescher who located
something no one had ever seen before from the nuclei of cells. He named this new
found compound nuclei . Today we refer to this as nucleic acid, the NA in DNA.

Sistine Chapel Challenges
The Sistine chapel was built between the years of 1475 and 1483 in Vatican City
and is named after the pope who had the chapel built, Sixtus IV. One of the most
impressive things about the Sistine chapel and one of the most famous works of art
in history is Michelangelo s painting on the ceiling of the chapel. The project was
completed using fresco. In 1508 Michelangelowas requested by PopeJulius II to
repaint the chapel. The Chapel at the time was painted with a blue sky and gold
stars. Pope Julius II original request was to have the chapel painted with the twelve
Christian Apostles and when the project was completed Michelangelo had created
more than 3,000 figures. The ceiling was created depicting nine stories from the
bible s book of genesis, including the The Creation of Adam , the most famous panel

The first challenge and maybe the easiest for Michelangelo to overcome was the
fact that he had no experience painting with fresco and he considered himself a
sculptor. The next challenge was the sheer size of the painting at a whopping 14
meters by 40.5 meters. That is more than 132 square meters larger than a basketball
court. Completing this large of painting was a monumental task enough even without
all the other challenges faced by Michelangelo. Michelangelo accepted this
commission regardless and would continue to face many more challenges over the
next four years. One of the most obvious challenges that stood in the way of
completing this challenging work of art was the fact that it was the ceiling that
needed to be painted. A local townsman offered to manufacture scaffolding for
Michelangelo that would hang from the ceiling, but Michelangelo refused because he
did not want to leave holes in the ceiling from where the scaffolding would have
hung. Michelangelo then created his own scaffolding that could be held in place by
brackets in the

Social Inequality Essay
According to www.investopedia.com The overall effect of economic growth on
social inequality is, like the effect of a marching column: the column advances and
the last rank eventually passes the point which was reached by the vanguard some
time before . This suggests that the richest individuals in society have stayed rich,
or even become richer, but for those who are classified as poor, the majority of
them have stayed the same. The poor continue to make up a large percentage of
the European population. This is largely due to low incomes and employment.
According to www.theindependent.co.uk UK inequality has increased by 42% since
1977 . This is a clear indicator that the gap between the richest and poorest
individuals in society is at its highest level in decades. Social consequences are the
impact of an event or action on a social environment. For example, education. Some
say that belonging to a wealthy family aids in how children do at school. While
education and working hard are seen as important for doing well and getting ahead,
knowing the right people and belonging to a wealthy family can also be critical.
www.teachfirst.org.uk suggests that The link between low income and low academic
attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation . Within any
society, those with higher incomes tend to do better on a variety of outcomes.

that demolished it. Most people simply know this society only for the incident that
buried it for centuries. They do not fully understand the importance of the culture
underneath the ashes. The catastrophic events that took their toll on the ancient city
of Pompeii, though tragic and unforgiving, serve as fundamental historical insight
into the Pompeian culture and the calamity that demolished this central portion of the
Roman Empire.
Mt. Vesuvius, a dormant stratovolcano, had not erupted for over 71, 500 years. The
city of Pompeii was isolated from all that was outside of its borders. The only other
natural disaster recorded in the area was on February 5, 62 AD, when a major
earthquake occurred in the epicenter of Pompeii (Modigliani). This severely damaged
the town, causing buildings, temples, and houses to collapse. The society was

that the 79 AD eruption is acknowledged so highly is the fact that it created a natural

Physiological Differences
Physiological Differences Although chronotype has shown to impact psychological
variables, such as RPE, during exercise at extreme ends of the day, little research has
shown that chronotype has a relationship with physiological variables during
physical activity. Other research studies have shown significant differences in
physiological measurements during exercise at opposite ends of the day. Hill (2013)
researched men participating in exhaustive severe intensity cycle ergometer tests in
the morning and evening to observe the physiological differences. Significant
changes were found in multiple variables between morning and evening exercise.
Evening testing saw a 20% increase in time to exhaustion as well as a 4% increase in

Bessot et al. (2011) aimed to distinguish the effect of time of day on peak power
during an exercise test and maximal aerobic power when the subject exercised at
their maximal oxygen uptake. Researchers instructed fifteen male competitive
endurance cyclists to perform a maximal incremental exercise test at 6:00 and 18:00.
The work rate was increased by 30 W per minute until the respiratory exchange ratio
reached 1.00 and then in steps of 15 W per minute until exhaustion occurred. Results
of this study concluded that there were no significant differences in maximal oxygen
uptake and maximal heart rate or biomechanical variables, such as maximal aerobic

The Treatment Of Blood Transfusion
Blood transfusion has been performed for centuries after the three blood types were
discovered. However, only in 1907 the first fairly safe blood transfusion happened
after the fourth type of blood was discovered by Dr. Reuben Ottenberg of Mount
Sinai Hospital in New York. Researcher in Brussels and Bueno Aires found that
Sodium Citrate prevents bloodclotting (Levy, 2015), which made possible to store
blood for future transfusions. In 1941 the American Red Cross established the blood
donor service for the US Military.
The AIDS epidemic in late 80 s was a huge disaster for blood transfusion where
patients contracted AIDS. Furthermore, surveillance programs were developed to
monitor infections transmitted by blood, primarily Hepatitis and HIV. Regardless of
advances technology recently, blood transfusions are not risk free and are expensive
one unit can cost $522 1183. Then, they must not be ordered routinely. Transfusions
are under approved practices, such as, red blood cell transfusions are ordered to
treat anemia, red blood cells and cryoprecipitate transfusions are commonly given to
trauma patients or critically ill. Today, the most number of transfusion infections is
caused by hepatitis B causing liver infections. The risk of Hepatitis B and C as well
as HIV requires rigorous screening especially in underdeveloped counties, for
instance Nigeria.
In the US, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) controls the conduct of
transfusion services. Additionally, the
Gender Roles And Sex Segregation In The United States
Gender roles play a huge part in society. Gender plays a role in shaping an
individuals identify and beliefs. It also helps identify what is masculine and what is
feminine. Certain tasks, duties, and jobs are classified by gender. However, gender
appropriate behavior should not be enforced in our society for numerous reasons and
can be seen on an individual level and be demonstrated by social learning theory and
sexsegregation. Within and across different cultures, we can find great consistency in
standards of anticipated genderroles. In the United States, like many other countries,
males are expected to be independent, assertive, and competitive. Females are
expected to be more passive, sensitive, and supportive. For example, when a
woman gives birth, she is the one that is expected to stay home and take care of
her children while the father goes to work and is the breadwinner for the family.
In society, it is more acceptable and common to see the women stay home and take
care of the house and children while the husband goes to work instead of the other
way around. Stay at home dads are not as common as stay at home moms.
However, it is up to the individuals on what they decide as a couple. Because of
this, gender appropriate behaviors can be seen because of sex segregation and
starting at young ages. Sex Segregation, according to Erving Goffman (1977) is far
from total, and is a more complex and dynamic process than the portrayal of separate
worlds. He
Type 2 Diabetes Virus
Diabetes mellitus is a medical condition that either develops because of a virus or
develops over time as a result to poor diet and exercise. If left uncontrolled it may
lead to serious complications such as stroke, vision loss, amputation, or even death.
Type II Diabetes is a preventable disease that usually occurs when a patient has
been a pre diabetic for some time. Most people with Type 2 are overweight or obese
which can lead to insulinresistance. In the United States, 25.6 million or 11.3% of
adults aged 20 years and older had diabetes in 2010. Non Hispanic Blacks had the
highest prevalence at 12.6% compared with non Hispanic Whites at 7.1% (Gaskin, D.
J. et all, 2014). With the rising cost of healthcare there are millions of Americans...

Essay on The Catiline Conspiracy
Sallust, Cicero and the Catiline Conspiracy
Both the histories of Sallust and the orations of Cicero can be considered literary
works, to a degree. The War With Catiline, by Sallust and The First Speech Against
Lucius Sergius Catilina, by Cicero, both contain excellent examples of writings from
the age of the great Roman Empire. Although both are fantastic pieces depicting a
time of tragedy, the Catiline Conspiracy against Rome, and they both think Catiline as
evil, the two are also different.
Sallust was an obscure historical writer from the first century BCE. In The War With
Catiline, he tells of the conspiracy of Catiline and his plan to bring about civil war in
Rome and over power the Senate. Sallust depicts this ... Show more content on

These men were those who wanted to gain riches by pillaging, and to free
themselves of debt through anarchic chaos. Catiline s biggest mistake might have
been that he was all too blatant and outright about his plan. He seemed to have been
careless in who overheard his discussions and whom he told. This ultimately led his
plans to be discovered. He fled from Rome where he fought in battle until his death.
Sallust recounts the history of the Catiline Conspiracy with much detail concerning
who was involved and the specific actions taken by both the conspirators and the
Senate. Sallust tells it almost as an exciting story where the good is fighting the evil.
Cicero was a member of the Senate during the time of Catiline s Conspiracy. His
life was many times in danger due to Catiline s hatred of him. His piece shows a
first hand point of view of the whole situation. Cicero, in The First Speech Against
Lucius Sergius Catilina, delivers a speech proposing what actions should be made
to stop Catiline. It is very obvious that Cicero expresses a hatred for Catiline, but
surprisingly he does not propose a death sentence for Catiline in fear for his own
reputation in the Senate. Though I m sure it would ve been retaliation he would
have loved to offer as a personal revenge. Cicero then goes on to accuse Catiline of
numerous wrongs he has committed to both the citizens and laws of Rome. All the

The Northeast Blackout (of 1960 s)
In the history of the world, there have come many such kinds of incidents that have
changed the whole map of the history. In about every nation, there have occurred a
lot of surprising events which distinguish that nation from the other one. So history
of the world is so much rich when we take a close look at it.
Like the other countries, the history of United States is filled up with many
unrealistic events that when occurred, had surprised the whole world. United States
is a very large nation that contains many other sub nations. In these all sub nations,
there is a very organized system for every aspect of life of people.

The Dispute Between Mexico Ad United States Regarding...
Summary
The case talks about dispute between Mexico ad United States regarding
international trucking implemented by NAFTA. In year 1994, trade agreement was
passed by NAFTA allowing trucks from Mexico to cross borders and deliver goods
to their ultimate destination in USA to increase efficiency. Previously the trucks
were not allowed to pass US border, the goods were unloaded and then loaded to
American trucks, the process took lot of time and money.
Two thirds of the trade within NAFTA uses roadways, many people were in favor of
the agreement as there will be more competition from Mexican trucking firms, which
will lower transportation cost.

This time Mexico government did not spare United States and under the NAFTA
agreement, imposed tariffs on some $2.4 billion of goods shipped from USA to
Mexico. After witnessing several consequences, US promised to come up with new
program that will address the problems, however nothing was in action till 2010.
Problems
USA faced many problems under NAFTA agreement. These were due to Teamsters,
Congress and lastly the effects US had to face because of increased tariff rates by
Mexico. Each problem is summarized in detail
Teamsters According to Teamsters Mexican trucks were old, dirty and were more
dangerous than American drivers. The drivers had poor safety records and did not
follow the safety and environmental standards. In America there are limited hours for
driver which is ignored in Mexico. Because of the pressure from Teamsters, US had
to pull its hand from NAFTA agreement.
Congress Congress was involved in thwarting the NAFTA agreement that was
administered under President Bush. It was even involved in killing pilot program
along with Teamsters in year 2007.
Tariffs After abandonment of NAFTA in 2009, Mexico imposed tariffs on some $2.4
billion of goods shipped from USA to Mexico. This act

First, this school offers a very diverse range of courses that are not offered at the

Wine Management and Wine Business, as well as many other very fascinating
courses.
Second, we chose this school is because the majority of students who will take part

Gender Differences In Football And Other Sports
Football and other sports should be abled to be played by girls too. Girls in
highschool who want to play football should be aloud. It could be a boy and girl
sport. It is unreasonable to say girls can t play football with boys.
My point is that females can be just as strong, if not stronger than males. The
females should play knowing that they might get hurt, but boys do the same thing.
Girls are always considered lower class than boys. If and when girls begin to play
with boys on sports team girls would have helmets and padding as protective gear.
Girls have their rights and can choose if they want to play football of other sports
with boys or not. Boys should not complain about this fact. Difference in gender is
not a reason for girls
A World Riddled By Social Expectations And Beauty Ideals
Introduction: Biology and culture are intertwined forces that affect all populations
from a global perspective. This fact brings up an interesting question regarding the
origins of pathology. While there are a miscellany of somatic illnesses explained by
biological means, mental illnesses seem to have more of an environmental aspect to
their origins, but there is controversy surrounding this detail. Even when knowing the
biological etiology of mental disorders, the cultureand environment is still important
in regards to the presentation as well as the commonality of these illnesses. In a
world riddled by social expectations and beauty ideals, anorexia nervosa(AN) is a
prime example of how culture must be examined in conjunction with... Show more

Such effects can be exacerbated by neuroendocrine regulation issues in the
neurotransmitters leptin, ghrelin, and orexin that play a role in metabolism, satiety,
and hunger levels respectively. The neurochemical framework with this disorder
can often lead to an addictive, chemical gratification that food cannot provide.
(Keating, 2012). While anorexic behaviors can be duly explained by the biological
aspects of the disorder, it is imperative to understand the origins of these
biochemical inconsistencies and how culture can be so finely braided into the
biochemistry. Cultural Stance: To explore cultural implications in understanding
anorexia nervosa, one should evaluate several different cultures and make
conclusions based on how certain lifestyles influence the pathology. Body image
and beauty ideals are a large focus in societies that have large media followings. In
this exploration of societies, American, Chinese, and Arabian cultures will be
assessed for their culture and influence in the presentation of AN. America: Anorexia
is often identified as a disorder that affects solely Western countries such as the
United States, based on the lack of perceived prevalence in Eastern countries. As
such, America was the country to define what anorexia entails based on observations
and experiences with the disorder from an American psychologist s perspective. This
could lead to less objective
The Rwandan Genocide
Rwanda is a country made up of a population with three ethnic communities, the two
main communities, the Hutu and Tutsi and an additional community of Twa (or
pygmies) who all spoke the same language, Kinyarwanda or Rwandan (Clapham,
1998). There is a stereotype of appearance attributed to these two main communities,
with Tutsi being seen as tall and having an aquiline shaped nose, and the Hutu as
being short and flat nosed (Clapham, 1998). In the pre colonial state of Rwanda, it
was the Tutsis that occupied positions of power even though they were a minority
community compared with the majority of the Hutu community, this remained the
same until Habyarimana (a Hutu) became President (Clapham, 1998). The Germans,
Europeans and Belgian s colonised and during their time in Rwanda, made it known
that they favoured the Tutsis over the Hutus, the Europeans going as far to regard the
Hutu and Twa as inferior to the Tutsis (Clapham, 1998). The Belgians eventually
changed their views, and favoured the Hutu, foreseeing that the majority Hutu would
eventually become dominant (Magnarella, 2005). Supporting the coloniser s views,
Rwandan folktales describe the Tutsi as being intelligent and courageous, the Hutu
as being obedient however not very clever, and the twa as loyal to the Tutsis, yet
lazy and lacking in restraint (Clapham, 1998). The Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF)
was established by Tutsis who were exiled from Rwanda, they retained a strong sense
of identity and formed the

  • 2. Joseph McCarthy Essay Joseph McCarthy Throughout the early 1950 s, the nation was deeply engrossed in fears of a Communist takeover. At a time when America s fears were at their very height, Joseph McCarthy, a Republican Senator from Wisconsin pushed America s fears to an extreme. As a ploy to get himself re elected, and to make America hate Communism as much as he did, the Senator devised a devious scheme. McCarthy, while giving a speech, held up a piece of paper and exclaimed, I have here a list of 57 known Communists who are currently employed by the U.S. State Department (Fried, 89). A few days later, McCarthy raised the number of people on the list from 57 to 205. The reaction to McCarthy s announcement was absolute panic. Until that time, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone knew about it, but no one ever talked about it. The first knowledge many American s had of Communism came from Winston Churchill s Iron Curtain Speech (Matusow, 45). Churchill basically said in his speech that the Soviet Union was pushing forward a global Communist takeover. And Churchill also said that he believed, We should not let such a force loose on the planet (Matusow, 46). That was the first time many American eyes were opened to Communism, and McCarthy made sure it was not the last. The entire chaos that Senator McCarthy caused had become collectively known as The Red Scare (Feuerlicht, 34). McCarthy used this entire Red Scare idea to boost his hopes for re election. But an elected official is supposed to be a representative of the people. All McCarthy did was abuse his power and pull the wool over the people s eyes. McCarthy did not work for the benefit of the people. He only worked for the benefit of himself. Next, the people whose lives McCarthy destroyed must be looked at. In the immediate aftermath of McCarthy s speech came many accusations. America wanted the people that McCarthy said were on his list. But when asked for the list, McCarthy said he lost it, and he could not remember which individuals were on the list. But he said he did see some key Hollywood figures on it. That was when the focus shifted to all of Hollywood. If anyone thought that an actor or actress seemed suspicious, they would simply start gossip about

  • 5. Call to Ministry What is a call to the ministry ? by Ken Temple Regional Representative Southeast USA Frontiers (770) 277 6399 ( office ) kentemple@juno.com What is a call to ministry ? Is it more subjective or objective? It is just for preachers and pastors and missionaries, or is it also for the Christian businessman and plumber, the housewife and mother? Is it only one s vocation, or does it also refer to salvation and relationship with Christ ? Os Guinness, in his book, The Call, writes: Calling is the truth that God calls us to Himself so decisively that everything we are, everything we do, and everything we have is invested with a special devotion, dynamism, and direction lived out as a response to His summons and service .[1] Calling... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... God wants more Christians to stay in the business world, the arts, entertainment, politics, journalism, etc. and bring their Christian convictions and world view to bear on how they conduct their business, write songs or films, or paint pictures. One of the reasons for the recent decline of Christian impact on our culture is because too many Christians have left the fields of science, math, film, art, journalism, and especially politics, and hence there was a vacuum left that the humanist, skeptic, atheist, and agnostic filled. So, now when in recent years Christians have tried to boldly make an impact on culture in these various fields, especially politics, we are finding the whole world view of our culture has changed and the world view of absolutes, right and wrong, the Ten Commandments, prayer, belief in God, convictions about abortion and homosexuality as sin are scoffed at, laughed at, labeled as intolerant, and even pushed out by media blitz or ignoring the facts or not giving Christians opportunity to voice their opinion. When considering a call to ministry, let me encourage you to not dichotomize too sharply between the secular and sacred. God wants to use all kinds of vocations to both disciple the nations ( Matt. 28:19 ) and be salt and light in the culture ( Matthew 5:13 16) and have dominion and manage the earth (Genesis 1:26 28) Inner Calling and External Confirmation: Subjective and Objective Criterion Is a call to

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Analysis The Epic of Gilgamesh Summary and analysis Introduction The Epic of Gilgamesh is an excerpt of the original text of the Epic listed in the Sources of the Western Tradition , 5th edition, by Perry, Peden and Von Laue (2003). The Epic of Gilgamesh is the story of King Gilgamesh who is the powerful king of Uruk, the incidents in his life, the associations he makes, the encounters he has, and the transition that occurs in his life in relation to his gaining knowledge of the mortality of human life. The story further outlines the transformation that Gilgamesh gets with respect to his outlook after the traumatic death of his friend Enkidu, which makes him to embark on a quest for eternity. Gilgamesh subjects the people in his kingdom to hard rule. The Gods create Enkidu to counter him. Friendship develops between Enkidu and Gilgamesh and together they launch adventures for conquests together. In the process, they kill the terrible monster, Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. For this, they incur the wrath of Gods, who decide to put an end to the life of Enkidu. Enkidu gets a dream about his impending death and dies after suffering for a few days with sickness. The death of Enkidu shatters Gilgamesh who wants to immortalize himself by escaping death. He goes in search of Utnapishtim, who is blessed with immortality by the Gods. Utnapishtim tells him that death is inevitable for a human and immortality is impossible to achieve. The Epic of
  • 7. Thomas Jefferson Dbq Thomas Jefferson composed Notes on the State of Virginia in 1781 during the time of political uncertainty that the United States faced after it declared independence and each state operated its own unique government under the Articles of Confederation. The notes were composed as the answers to a series of questions posed by a foreigner of distinction who was residing in Virginia. As Jefferson has a clear bias towards Virginia, it can be concluded that he took offense to the questions posed which likely undermined the value of the state and possibly the country. Jefferson s status as a notable, wealthy, white man makes his opinions in regard to freedom, slavery, race, and resources the accepted answers to whatever questions had been presented. Jefferson defined freedom as being based on natural rights and the principles of republicanism. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The natural rights that he defined as life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness set the precedent for the freedom and respect that we enjoy today. Although his participation in the atrocity of slavery is without a doubt a stain on his reputation, it was not an uncommon practice at the time. While that does not make his actions acceptable, to discredit him as a founding father for it would discredit so many others, including George Washington. Similarly, his blatant racism is by no means excusable, but his ignorance was shared by the great majority of people white Americans in the eighteenth century, including many other founding fathers and future presidents. His defense of the country against the criticism of a foreigner is a display of his true love for the state of Virginia as well as the United States. As the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, a defender of the Constitution, and the third President of the United States, Jefferson is one of the most notable and successful founding
  • 8. Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark Sometimes, man is too eager to repair natural imperfections that may exist using science, rather than seeing these imperfections as beautiful natural occurrences, which will eventually lead to the destruction of nature. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark, it appears that Aylmer the main character wants to show the world that perfection is not beauty, and he demonstrates this with his wife Georgiana and that science should not alter the way that nature set man on this world to be. Hawthorne was a major asset to the transcendental movement, and this short story is a perfect example why. Nathaniel Hawthorneattempts to show the world the comparison between perfection and beauty mainly by: a psychoanalytic version of the plot and Sigmund Freuds three fundamentals. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark, the main character, Aylmer, wants to have a perfect wife. His wife, Georgiana, is a very beautiful woman with just one flaw, the birthmark on her face. As a scientist, Aylmer tries to create a solution that will get rid of Georgiana s birthmark, thus making her perfect. According to Hawthorne, however, this is not possible. During the transcendental phase of American life, which involved literature from Hawthorne, transcendental writers would support Nature and its importance. In The Birthmark, Nathaniel Hawthorne tries to show the people that nature does not make anything flawless, and that this is the beauty of it. Nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffably

Jimmy Carter In the US, most progressives start to see the differences between internationalism and economic globalization. David Korten It has been said that arguing against globalization is like arguing against the laws of gravity. Kofi Annan People have accused me of being in favor of globalization. This is equivalent to accusing me of being in favor of the sun rising in the morning. In fact, many of the features of the current wave of globalization are similar to those prevailing before the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. But policy and technological developments of the past few decades have spurred increases in cross border trade, investment, and migration so large that many observers believe the world has entered a qualitatively new phase in its economic development. Since 1950, for example, the volume of world trade has increased by 20 times, and from just 1997 to 1999 flows of foreign investment nearly doubled, from $468 billion to $827 billion. Distinguishing this current wave of globalization from earlier ones, author Thomas Friedman has said that today globalization is farther, faster, cheaper, and deeper. • 10. Zoo Descriptive Essay I take a whiff of the musty air, my little fingers tightening around my mother s hand as she gives me a gentle squeeze for protection. Her stern but loving hazel eyes follow me as I bob along the stone sidewalk, my jet black mary jane s clopping like a horse against the cemented stone tiles indicating a pathway for the visitors of the zoo. I felt jitters run down my spine from excitement. My motherand I immediately made our way to the crowded batexhibit, younger children screeching from fear or delight. As the door juters open, the faint smell of bat guanofills the air as a plague. I look up at my mom with my beautiful brown eyes as she holds a smile, attempting not to grimace from the putrid smell. I however, rush inside and straight to the figurine machine, begging my mom for the lion figure. Of course my mother caves in, placing a silver quarter that would blind me if the light hit it. My petite hand proceeded to harshly shove the quarter within the machine. We wait maybe two or three minutes before the brilliantly colored wax figurine outputted itself. It was scalding hot to my hands before I began to play with it. Well, that was until I quickly gave it to my mom, shoving it inside of her purse that was colored with floral print, the fringe hanging like still windchimes. My mother and I then head towards the wombat area. The waves of heat hit my face as I gently shake my head as my hair starts to stick to my neck. I believe my mom has it much worse in the heat, as
  • 11. Supernatural In Macbeth Analysis How does Shakespeare represent the supernatural in Macbeth? In Macbeth, the supernatural is a key feature of the play. In this essay, I will explore the ways in which the supernatural are represented by Shakespeare. The presence of the supernatural from the outset of Macbeth is apparent, the witches talk about Macbeth before he has made his first appearance on stage. This already gives the supernatural a presence in the play and seems as if the supernatural will play a significant role in Macbeth s life. While some supernatural presences are questionable to the audience such as the ghost of Banquo and the hallucinations of Lady Macbeth during her demise, the witch s appearance has an objective existence as they are seen not only by Macbeth but also by Banquo. Other supernatural encounters that Macbeth witnesses are questionable to whether they are real, such as the ghost of Banquo and the appearance of the dagger, therefore posing the question, are they real? Critics and modern audiences alike believe that Macbeth may have been suffering with PTSD due to his time as a solider. In order to survive, Macbeth became savage. This nature is highlighted when Macbeth unseam d [a man] from the nave to th chops . There is a difference between having the means to kill a man but also enjoying the thrill of the hunt. Highlighting that Macbeth may have a form of blood lust. The manner that Macbeth kills, is conveyed with sheer brutality. PTSD until quite recently was not recognised
  • 12. The Theme Of Characterism In The Bet By Anton Chekhov The old banker was walking up and down his study and remembering how, fifteen years before, he had given a party one autumn evening (Chekhov 210) is the opening for the short story, The Bet by Anton Chekhov. This short story is a suspenseful writing about a banker and a lawyer, who makes a bet with each other. The lawyer bets the banker that he can stay in confinement for fifteen years for two million dollars. At the end of the short story, irony comes into play when the lawyer decides to leave confinement five minutes before his time is up and the banker wins the bet. One theme that is carried out through the story is that if you stay in prison for a lifelong sentence, it will kill you slowly. One strategy used by Chekhov to illustrate the theme is the use of a protagonist and antagonist. The protagonist in this short story is the banker. A protagonist is a character who initiates the events in the story and the banker is the character that proposes the bet with the lawyer. The antagonist can also be the banker. The banker can also be considered the antagonist because he is the character who is willing to kill a person. In the short story the banker gives readers evidence that he is going to murder the lawyer when he says, I have only to take this half dead man, throw him on the bed, stifle him a little with the pillow, and the most conscientious expert would find no sign of a violent death (Chekhov 215). The fact that Chekhov uses this strategy allows the story to be suspenseful and more interesting. The story becomes more interesting and suspenseful because there is a battle against the protagonist and the antagonist. Another strategy used in this short story to employ the theme is the point of view. Point of view allows the readers to analyze what perspective the story is being told from. In the short story, The Bet the point of view is third person limited. The third person limited point of view only allows the reader to know the thoughts and feelings of one character throughout the story. In the short story, Chekhov has the author declare, Then he remembered what followed that evening (Chekhov 212). By having the author declare this it allows readers to know what the banker was thinking

For instance, after Achilles fights Hector and defeats him Achilles ties Hector s body to the back of his chariot to humiliate Hector before tossing Hector s body onto a garbage heap. Later after Hector s brother Paris finds out about Hector s death, he goes after Achilles and shoots him in the heel and kills him. Hector on the other hand proved to be very respectful to whomever he had been fighting and admits his mistakes. For example, Hector makes two fateful decisions. In the first decision, Hector disregards Poulydamas s advice and keeps the Trojans encamped on the plain of Troy. This allowed Achilles counterattack on the Trojans. Secondly, Confident that he can withstand Achilles on his own, Hector waits outside the walls of Troy. When Hector s courage fails him he starts running away from Achilles. In this case, the second trial would not be considered double jeopardy. Double jeopardy means that a person cannot be tried twice for the same crime. He was never acquitted of the crime. Since the jury could not reach a verdict, it was a mistrial case. Once a verdict was reached and carried out, Devine could not be trailed again for same crime. In the case that the defendant appeals and obtains reversal of a conviction, they may be tried again. The reversal means that the defendant was not in jeopardy. The reversal is basically a willingness of the defendant to be tried for crime. • 21. Negligence Law And Negligence Case Eric Kurss Hospitality Law December 5, 2014 Final Term Paper Negligence Rule of Law In the court of law, negligence can be described as an unintentional tort. Negligence is a duty to the plaintiff (party which sues) that the defendant (party being sued) owes, based on a breach of promise to exercise care and safety. The plaintiff must prove that the defendant s actions fell short of a reasonable standard. To prove a negligence case, there are several foundational requirements that must be present in order to carry out a trial. The first being, one must establish a duty of care, or relationship between the plaintiff and defendant. The simplest form is one s obligation to the world, in which you must act in such a way to not put another person in unreasonable risk of harm. In the cases being presented, Fudge v. The City of Kansas City, and Purton v. Marriott International, this duty of care is established as Delmar Henley and James Fudge were citizens of the same town but did not know each other prior to the accident, nor did Dr. Jared Purton nor Michael Landri (of Marriott) have a prior connection. The second step is to determine the duty owed to the defendant. In our cases, monetary compensation were at stake. Proximate causality, or primary cause of the sustained injury represents the third foundation, and an act from which an injury results and ultimately answers the question as to whether or not the defendant s action is closely enough related to the plaintiff s

A union that creates oneness that relinquishes self control and yields to the eternal transforming power of God s grace. Further this process of yielding, uniting, maturing, and pursuing is the central theme of Wesley s desire for every man, woman, and child to experience the depth of God s holy

Before the DNA double helix was discovered two biological question were unanswered: how can information for specifying an organism be carried in chemical form? and how is it accurately copied? It was not until the 20th century when the DNAmolecule was discovered and suggested answers to both these questions. (Alberts B, Johnson A, Lewis J, et al, 2002) With the help of many scientists we now know exactly what the DNA molecule is, its structure, and its function. The knowledge gained throughout the years on DNA has allowed many things such as that of genetic genealogy. Knowing the structure of the DNA is what has helped/continues... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the molecule that contains the biological instructions that make each species unique. (Deoxyribonucleic Acid DNA, 2012) Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is the primary chemical component of chromosomes and is the material of which genes are made of. It is also referred to as the molecule of heredity. This is because parents transmit copied portions of their own DNA to their offspring during reproduction (The DNA Molecule, n.d.). Before completely understanding DNA it is important to look at the development of the study of DNA throughout the years and finally look at the structure as well as what this knowledge now allows us to do. The information of DNA is not something that scientists and others have always been aware of. The knowledge in which we hold today is somethings that is a product of multiple studies from multiple people who discovered different aspects of the molecule. Such explanations of explorations of DNA are possible because of the many scientists who paved the way. This began almost a century before the Nobel Prize, in 1868, was awarded to James Watson, Franklin Crick, and Maurice Wilkins. It was a young Swiss physician Friedrich Miescher who located something no one had ever seen before from the nuclei of cells. He named this new found compound nuclei . Today we refer to this as nucleic acid, the NA in DNA. Gregor Mendel, a Czech monk just two

One of the most impressive things about the Sistine chapel and one of the most famous works of art in history is Michelangelo s painting on the ceiling of the chapel. The project was completed using fresco. In 1508 Michelangelowas requested by PopeJulius II to repaint the chapel. The Chapel at the time was painted with a blue sky and gold stars. Pope Julius II original request was to have the chapel painted with the twelve Christian Apostles and when the project was completed Michelangelo had created more than 3,000 figures. The first challenge and maybe the easiest for Michelangelo to overcome was the fact that he had no experience painting with fresco and he considered himself a sculptor. The next challenge was the sheer size of the painting at a whopping 14 meters by 40.5 meters. That is more than 132 square meters larger than a basketball court. Completing this large of painting was a monumental task enough even without all the other challenges faced by Michelangelo. Michelangelo accepted this commission regardless and would continue to face many more challenges over the next four years. One of the most obvious challenges that stood in the way of completing this challenging work of art was the fact that it was the ceiling that needed to be painted. A local townsman offered to manufacture scaffolding for Michelangelo that would hang from the ceiling, but Michelangelo refused because he did not want to leave holes in the ceiling from where the scaffolding would have hung. Michelangelo then created his own scaffolding that could be held in place by brackets in the

Social Inequality Essay According to www.investopedia.com The overall effect of economic growth on social inequality is, like the effect of a marching column: the column advances and the last rank eventually passes the point which was reached by the vanguard some time before . This suggests that the richest individuals in society have stayed rich, or even become richer, but for those who are classified as poor, the majority of them have stayed the same. The poor continue to make up a large percentage of the European population. This is largely due to low incomes and employment. According to www.theindependent.co.uk UK inequality has increased by 42% since 1977 . This is a clear indicator that the gap between the richest and poorest individuals in society is at its highest level in decades. Social consequences are the impact of an event or action on a social environment. For example, education. Some say that belonging to a wealthy family aids in how children do at school. While education and working hard are seen as important for doing well and getting ahead, knowing the right people and belonging to a wealthy family can also be critical. www.teachfirst.org.uk suggests that The link between low income and low academic attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation . • 44. Gender Roles And Sex Segregation In The United States Gender roles play a huge part in society. Gender plays a role in shaping an individuals identify and beliefs. It also helps identify what is masculine and what is feminine. Certain tasks, duties, and jobs are classified by gender. However, gender appropriate behavior should not be enforced in our society for numerous reasons and can be seen on an individual level and be demonstrated by social learning theory and sexsegregation. Within and across different cultures, we can find great consistency in standards of anticipated genderroles. In the United States, like many other countries, males are expected to be independent, assertive, and competitive. Females are expected to be more passive, sensitive, and supportive. For example, when a woman gives birth, she is the one that is expected to stay home and take care of her children while the father goes to work and is the breadwinner for the family. In society, it is more acceptable and common to see the women stay home and take care of the house and children while the husband goes to work instead of the other way around. Stay at home dads are not as common as stay at home moms. However, it is up to the individuals on what they decide as a couple. Because of this, gender appropriate behaviors can be seen because of sex segregation and starting at young ages. Sex Segregation, according to Erving Goffman (1977) is far from total, and is a more complex and dynamic process than the portrayal of separate worlds. He
