Strobel s Eight Objections To Belief In God
What Strobel does in this book is to give eight objections to belief in God that those of us who work
with people in doubt (agnostic or atheist) hear, and he then responds to them. The objections are:
Since evil and suffering exist, a loving God cannot
Since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true
Evolution explains life so God isn t needed
God isn t worthy of worship since He kills innocent children
It is offensive to claim Jesus is the only way to God
A loving God would never torture people in Hell
Church history is littered with oppression and violence
I still have doubts so I can t be a Christian
This book puts both of that into a mixture of questions around faith and Christianity, yet at the same
time, providing a number of explanations and reasons why those questions are so important in the
context of faith. There are a number of interviews conducted in ... Show more content on

As with any book, and especially to the atheist, you have to understand this book is about a Case FOR
Christ, it helps to steer you toward a Faith in Him that can change your life. I think the book is great
for anyone seeking more answers about God, wanting to see arguments for or against their current
views and to add a deeper perspective on what Faith really requires, regardless of your current
believes, Christian or not. It s easy to read and doesn t require you to know a lot of historical
background or content from the Bible but of course that helps as many references are used as evidence
but not the whole context of them outlined. So, if Faith is either something you are lacking, want to
strengthen or simply curious to explore what Faith is all

How Is Atticus A Good Role Model
Atticus is a colleague of mine at the school where I work. I know that he would be a spectacular
teacher at your school due to his fatherly image, his respect for his peers and the respect that he
receives from others. His commitment to equality between blacks and whites make him a valuable
contribution to the school community. These character traits create an excellent teacher in the
classroom. Knowing Atticus for a long time has benefitted me with knowing his true personality and
the events, which Harper Lee wrote about in To Kill A Mockingbird, that affected him (gerund).
Atticus is an admirable teacher and role model to his students because of his outlook on equality.

People say someone s children are a reflection of their parents. Atticus taught and raised both of his
kids with Calpurnia (Atticus loyal housekeeper), which shows that he would be an open minded and a
laudable educator. I remember the night when Atticus believed that his son, Jem, had killed Bob
Ewell. He believed that his son had killed Mr. Ewell and needed to be punished just like everyone
else, Thank you from the bottom of my heart, but I don t want my boy starting out with something like
this over his head... I don t want him growing up with a whisper about him, I don t want anybody
saying, Jem Finch... his daddy paid a mint to get him out of that (366). This characteristic of honesty
and fatherly image proves to be a qualification for a teacher who would impact and challenge students
in school. When he was thinking about what he was going to do with Jem s situation, he knew that he
should not let the fact that it was his son get in the way of the fact that he should be just like everyone
else. Atticus a good role model for younger children, but is also a good role model to kids, his peers,
and adults in the environment. To see the way that Atticus cares for his family, peers, and friends
shows his fatherly image, his commitment to equality for whites and blacks, and the respect he
receives from his peers, kids, and the town

Penny Lab Essay
In this lab we will be heating up substances and use them to galvanize pennies. When you heat up the
zinc, and then coat the penny in it, it then galvanizes the penny. Meaning, it helps protect the penny
from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the penny. This
helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On part B of this
experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what reaction you get.
The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinc covered pennies is that the pennies will
change color.
In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are
loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing (Francis, E .
. .). Metallic bonds are when the electrons are shared and are able to move and how C models show
that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps produce its
characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). In a redox reaction, oxidation
and reduction happens. Also you can t have reduction happening without oxidation also happening
along with it. Redox reactions oxidation is the loss of electrons and reduction is the gain of electrons

Iron not only needs water, but also oxygen in order to form rust. (Rusting . . .). Galvanizing involves
coating corrosive metals with a non corrosive metal, which not only protects from corrosion of soft
metals but also adds strength of the original, uncoated metal. Hot dipping is one way of galvanizing,
which is when you dip a metal into hot melted zinc (What . . .). When the metal is dipped into the
melted zinc, it creates a protective shell around the metal and keeps it from rusting away from oxygen

The Prince And Discourse On Livy
In his famous works, The Prince and Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli meticulously discusses the
importance of religion in the formation and maintaining a political order. Machiavelli regards religion
as a political tool used by political elites for political purposes. He argues that the appearance of
religion is good while the practice of it is harmful. One of the memorable passage from the Prince that
supports Machiavelli s claim is when he advices the prince to not to be good, and the prince should
cultivate the appearance of the religion if he wants to maintain his state. The prince, he writes, should
appear all mercy, all faith, all honesty, all human, all religion he adds and nothing is more necessary to
have than this last quality (The Prince, 70). Here, Machiavelli argues, in order for the prince to
maintain his state, it is necessary for the prince to go to the source of morality and by this he means
religion. Thus, Machiavelli view on religion is nothing but a necessary tool for maintaining a political
authority.
Furthermore, Machiavelli stresses the importance of the religion as a political mean to control and
govern the masses. In the Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli uses the example of how Numa the founder
of Roman religion, manipulates the Roman people by using religion to maintain order and peace.
Machiavelli praises the wisdom of Numa for inventing a religion to control a very ferocious Romans.
In praising Numa, Machiavelli writes: As he found a very

40 Kos Case Study
Shane Mosley (48 9 1, 40 KOs) seems to be experiencing a kind of nostalgic episode in his life as the
former three division world champion recently declared that he wants to fight arguably the most
popular but olden boxers of the moment: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48 0, 26 KOs), Manny Pacquiao (57
6 2, 38 KOs), Miguel Cotto (40 4, 33 KOs), or Juan Manuel Marquez (56 7 1, 40 KOs), as reported by
Boxing News 24.
Merely hearing the names of these five great boxers felt like looking in a boxing museum, and Mosley
appears to be wanting to re live his glory days after the 43 year old s sixth round knockout win over
fellow aged fighter Ricardo Mayorga just last weekend.

Still, the California native would not concede that his best days are behind him.
I wanted to get in there and prove myself. I want to get a couple of fights and then I want to try for the
world title again, Mosley said, via Bleacher Report. I want to fight Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
I m on that level. I m still on that level.
The former welterweight and light middleweight lineal champion seemed to have copied the Pac Man
s injury excuse as he also claimed that he was injured when he fought Mayweather and Pacquiao in
2010 and 2011 respectively. Mosley lost to both men via 12 round unanimous decisions.
Mosley is one of a handful of veteran boxers today who are attempting at a career comeback at a very
advanced age.
At age 46, former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. had just won his eighth straight match
with a knockout win over unheralded Eric Watkins early this month. He is scheduled to fight again on

Andrew Marvell, “to His Coy Mistress”
Andrew Marvell, To His Coy Mistress In To His Coy Mistress the speaker carefully constructs a subtle
and logical argument as to why his addressee should sexually unite with him. The speaker attempts
this proposition through finesse in manipulating reason, form and imagery. The reasoning employed
would be familiar to a reader educated in Renaissance England, as it is reminiscent of classical
philosophical logic, entailing a statement, a counter statement and a resolution. In line with this
method Marvell s speaker codes his argument in classical imagery. To understand this argument I will
be approaching the poem in three clearly defined sections, which are denoted in the poem with
indented lines. The first of these section ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next section runs from lines 21 to 32, here the speaker moves away from the hypothetical to
reality but retains the melodramatic language used in the previous section to sustain the tenacity of his
points. Time here is portrayed as chasing the speaker as opposed to being something the speaker is in
control of as in the end of the last section. This is done using the image of a winged chariot (l.22), this
has classical associations with Greek mythology which relates to his form of argument. The meter of
the poem is restrictively regular, this structure emphasises the idea that time is constantly progressing;
reflecting the speaker s argument. Space is no longer inhabited by images of movement and life like
the rivers previously mentioned but instead: before us lie / Deserts of vast eternity (ll. 23 4). The
desert has strong connotations with deathliness, an issue that the speaker gruesomely develops upon
and progresses within this section. The speaker implies on lines 26 7 that the only exploration of the
mistress s body that will be undertaken will be by the worms that are decomposing her body if she
remains in her coy state. This thought that her sexuality should not be wasted is elaborated upon with
a crude pun on line 29: And your quaint honor turn to dust which, as the Norton Anthology of Poetry
explains in the footnote, is a play on the Middle English noun queynte which means female genitals.

Abrahamic faiths and concluded that Zoroastrianism can be regarded as the foundation upon which
Judaism, Christianity and Islam build their systems of faith. Today, the majority of Zoroastrian
followers can be found in the Indian city of Mumbai but a significant community of Parsees also live
across the United Kingdom. In Iran itself it was reported by Agence France Presse that in the 2011

PROJECT If you are going to build a brewing operation from scratch, what you are considering is a
capital project that can be broken down into nine basic functions. Each function must be managed
properly, from conceptualization to start up. Whatever the type, form, style of brewing operation that
you are contemplating, whether it be called a boutique brewery, craft brewery, cottage brewery,
brewpub, microbrewery, etc., there are many questions, not just a few, that you will need to obtain the
answers for as they apply to your situation. You may already know the answers to some of the
questions but others you will have to research. To assist you in organizing the answers that you have
obtained to date and to identify some important questions which you may not have considered, the
following is a list of nine function steps that you must systematically and professionally proceed to do.
Important questions that you need to ask yourself and find the answers for are listed in point form for
your reference as a checklist of topics, problems, etc. to be covered under each function. The only
difference between the answers for the brewpub as compared to the mini brewery will be the depth
and detail of the answers, but the questions are common to all new brewery ventures. The answers

Analysis Of The Battle Of Bunker Hill
A general for the American colonials, Nathanael Greene said it best when he stated, he wished he
could sell them another hill at the same price. The battle of Bunker Hill was a significant event for the
American colonists cause. It was fought in less than 3 hours on June 17th, 1775, but became a game
changer in the struggle for independence. The British s plan to fortify and occupy the Boston area and
harbor was met with a determined colonist army headed by Colonel Prescott. Although the colonists
were way outnumbered, their cause for freedom produced much more vigorous attempt to hold their
ground. The death toll was staggering for the British army and they were found perplexed at the
reduction of their force. The American ragtags were ferocious in their attempt to win this battle. Had it
not been that their ammo was depleted, the battle might have had a different ending. The British took
advantage of the lack of ammo and was able to drive the colonists back. Contrary to popular opinion,
the Battle of Bunker Hill was a victory for the American colonists. ... Show more content on

A. Introduction: Languages make meaningful words by combining sound segments depending on
rules. Children try to acquire these sounds through listening. By the time goes on, they have a
linguistics competence that helps them produce meaningful sounds. Students who learn a second
language or a foreign language face issues due to the different phonetic system of their first language
and the second language. If they have a sound in the target language is not exist in their mother

The Phonetic Inventory of Saudi Arabic Many research papers have talked about measuring stop
consonants voicing. There are many researchers put their attention on figuring out the difficulties of
pronouncing voicing and voiceless consonants by L2 learners such as (Binturki, 2008; Flege and Port,
1981; Al Saidat, 2010). The difference between voicing and voiceless consonants is the voicing that
occurs during the stop closure interval. The consonant is voiced when there is voicing, while if there is
no voicing, the consonant is voiceless. However, Lisker and Abramason (1964) do not see that
consonant stops (p, b, t, d, k, g) could be distinguished depending on a distinction feature like the
vocal cords voicing. For that reason, they proposed a distinction feature between voiced and voiceless
consonants which is Voice Onset Time (VOT). They defined VOT as the time interval between the
burst that marks release of the stop closure and the onset of quasi periodicity that reflects laryngeal
vibration (1964, 422). Since English voiceless bilabial stop /p/ is not found in Saudi Arabic, Saudi
speakers of English as a second language have two possible ways to pronounce it. First, they could not
care about the distinction feature, then they could

Anti Social Personality Disorder ( Ocd )
Abuse and neglect during childhood have a strong predisposition to having anti social personality
disorder
In 2013, an estimate of 679, 000 children were abused or neglected (National Children s Alliance,
2013). Abuse and/or neglect history in young adults can have strong impact physically and
emotionally. Previous researchers have found that abuse and/or neglect in young adults can be one

one of the personality disorders that s linked to abuse and/or neglect. APD is characterised by a

irresponsibility, lack of remorse and criminality (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
APD is a well known disorder that researchers have been trying to determine the cause of it. Bierer et

strong predictor to paranoid as well anti social personality disorder. The participants that helped find
these results were either referred from the outpatient psychiatric clinics or referred themselves by

Bystander Effect Theory Essay
The Bystander Effect Theory
Have you seen a group of children bullying or pushing around another child? Did you stand by and
watch the situation and not intervene? If so, even with such a minor situation, you fell into the
bystander effect theory. The bystander effect happens every day in our lives and dates all the way back
to the Holocaust and even further back in history.
The bystander effect theory is a psychological phenomenon were people do not help others in
emergency situations when there are others present, the bigger the crowd the less likely chance of
someone stepping in to help. In 1964, there was a woman who was brutally murdered and there were
approximately 30 witnesses who did not intervene to save her. This case was ... Show more content on

People are just trying to live life and survive and if the situation is too out of control where we are
talking about guns being involved, then that s where people would draw a line and not do anything to
help. People start to fear that their own life becomes in danger if they try to intervene in something of
that magnitude. I can completely understand why people would be more hesitant when it comes to
helping others when they fear their own life can be taken from them. This type of fear is one of the
main reason the Holocaust happened and people did very little to help the Jews.
During the Holocaust there were mass killings involving huge crowds and a very massive witness
group. The Germans were brain washed to think the Jews were horrible people and they blamed them
for taking away their dignity as a country. There are reports of dozen of witness that stood by and did
nothing to help. A photographer took pictures of a man, a Luthuanian, beating 30 40 men to death with
a crow bar then watched as they sang their national anthem on top of the dead bodies. With a crowd so
enormous and so many people with hate in their hearts it would be so hard for someone to intervene in
that type of situation. Another example from the reading is a medical man was about to offer a
bandage to a Jewish lady but one of the guards approached them and threatened the medical s man
life. The guard instilled fear in this man and he went back and told

Kidney Stones Effect
Kidney stones are little, hard mineral stores that frame inside your kidneys. The stones are made of
mineral and corrosive salts.
Kidney stones have numerous causes and can influence any piece of your urinary tract from your
kidneys to your bladder.
A kidney stone may not bring about manifestations until it moves around inside your kidney or goes
into your ureter. But,some side effects are Severe torment in the side and back, beneath the ribs,
torment that spreads to the lower stomach area and crotch, torment that comes in waves and changes
in power, torment on pee, pink, red or cocoa pee, overcast or putrid pee, queasiness and regurgitating,

Kidney stones regularly have no clear, single cause, albeit a few components may build your danger.

The Most Traditional Side of Firearm Usage in America
For generations and generations guns have been the icon of america. Guns can protect you from
criminals and dangerous situations. They surround us everyday, whether it be law enforcement
personnel, in movies, or advertisements. Guns can not only be used to protect the individual but also
the population from a tyrannical government, which is exactly why the founding fathers were so intent
on making guns the forefront of what america is all about. The down side to having guns so relevant
in society is the fact that often it can fall into the wrong hands.
The vast majority of american households have at least one fire arm in the house. This is mostly
because there is more of a comfort that people feel when they believe they could fend of a possible
intruder or attacker. Those that do not have firearms trust that the police will take care of whatever
situation might present itself. The average response time for the police is on average roughly 10 15
minutes. The average response time for a .357 magnum is 1300 feet per second. So using a .357 to
shoot a target standing 1ft away is 900 times faster than waiting 15 minutes for a police officer. Many
people have perished waiting for police while their home has been burglarized. With some sort of
firearm in the house that burglar could have easily been eliminated. if those individuals would have
had a firearm in their possession chances are they would still be living. Criminals do not follow laws,
guns legal or not, guns will

To Drill or Not to Drill Essay
As a resident of Pennsylvania I take the position that at the present time, along with other residents,
environmental groups, local governments, and even businesses that we are against drilling for natural
gas here in our state at this time! Developing our energy resources can not come at the expense of our
environmental resources our water, our land, and our ecosystems. Over the past few years natural gas
drilling in Pennsylvania has become a popular topic of controversy. The reason this topic is so
controversial to a Pennsylvania resident is because of the impact it has on our environment. Natural

The clean drinking water supplied to millions of people and wildlife species are at serious risk. The
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection recently fined a drilling company after
methane gas leaked from a drilling operation and seeped into nearby residential wells ( Marcellus
Shale ). This is not a common occurrence; the problem of methane gas migrating into ground water is
a very serious problem. You can not drink water, shower or wash clothes with water that has been
contaminated with methane. There is documented proof, including video that actually shows water
from a kitchen faucet being ignited into flames with a lighter, the water containing enough methane
gas to become flammable. Property owners that sold land rights to gas companies are now second
guessing their decisions and suffering the dilemma of tainted ground water and well water. Therefore,
developing the Marcellus Shale formation requires very large amounts of fresh water and fluid
disposal. Recent inspections by the state have uncovered violations that threaten Pennsylvania water
resources and its environment. Violations include poorly constructed and dangerous water retention
ponds, inadequate erosion and sediment controls, improper waste and fluid disposal and also improper
and unregistered withdrawals of water from streams. Meanwhile, oil and gas wells expel

different scenario in which any group of people in the United States wanted to block development on a
certain site. Perhaps it s the Mormons who hear a skyscraper will be going up in the place where
Joseph Smith saw the golden tablets (Riley). How long can a person survive without water? What
would you do if your only source of water was threatened? So what if these questions are raised by a
Native person? It isn t a matter of being Native to understand it, just being human. You might also say,
why don t they just buy the land so it wouldn t allow the pipeline to trespass through? They can t buy
homes because they can t have mortgages. They can t receive loans to start small businesses because
they don t really own their land. They can t buy and sell land among themselves without the

Cancer Cell Essay
Breaking away: cancer cell dissemination and survival in the periphery
Once the primary tumor gains the capacity to evade host immune system and cancer cells enter the
circulation, metastatic dissemination takes place. Before metastatic dissemination, the prematastatic
niches are primed. Cell types which earlier were recruited to destroy cancer now facilitate in tumor
progression(Fig. 2). TME supports cancer cells in leaving the primary tumor site seeding in secondary
organs.
In the primary tumor one of the initial steps was EMT, during which tumor cells lose epithelial
markers and gain mesenchymal traits that confer stem like properties and a migratory phenotype. But
in secondary site, cancer cells show phenotypic switching, i.e., ... Show more content on

Hypoxia takes place in the tumor core due to deficiency of oxygen. Hypoxia mediates immune cell
recruitment (eg.; Lymphocytes in colorectal cancer) and concentrates them at the tumor periphery to
support cancer invasion at the leading edge. Hypoxia in the tumor core leads to aggressive selection
pressure for resilient stem like tumor cells due to which these cells migrate to the periphery of the
tumor.
2.3INTRAVASATION
According to Paget s hypothesis of seed and soil , cancer cells (seed) gradually acquire mutations in
oncogenes or tumour suppressor genes that confer the ability to intravasate, survive in the
haematogenous or lymphatic circulation, and prosper in a distant site (soil). This soil would have
characteristics that allow the metastatic cell to adhere and proliferate. In humans, certain tumours
metastasize to specific organ sites. For example, breast cancers metastasize to lung, liver, bone and
brain; melanoma to liver, brain and skin. By contrast, some tumors like glioma do not metastasize,
instead migrate along white matter tracks, others such as ovarian tumours are restricted to the
peritoneal cavity. Some others such as head and neck cancers only spread to regional lymph nodes.
The molecular bases of these differences are poorly if at all understood, but probably have a
microenvironmental component. Recent studies mention about the power of transcriptome profiling to
identify cohorts of genes of which

Leaders And Followers Analysis
The movie clip portrays the conventional way of how the general public views leaders and followers.
As the book talks about that being called a team member or group member is better than being called a
suborinate or follower, the ants in the line were clearerly followers. Not that followers cannot think for
themself, because nearly everyone has someone else they follow, the ant could not think for himself in
going around the leaf. I think that this is the problem with most followers, they do not want to think
for themselfs and want someone like Mr. Soil, a leader, to guide them. I dont think this is wrong for
people to want others to guide them because many people enjoy being a team member rather than
being in charge. The book goes into detail

A League Of Their Own Narrative Analysis
This section employs narrative analysis to the story A League of Their Own in order to highlight the
moral of the film that women have a choice over their future and do not have to be stay at home
mothers. Once again, a story needs a plot with a beginning, middle, and end (Sellnow, 2014, p. 60).
Dottie and Kit s story begins in the small farm town where they work at the dairy and play ball for
fun. During a game, a recruiter takes notice of Dottie, then from there, Dottie and Kit s baseball career
takes off. Their upward progression proves that anything is possible. Tensions run high between sisters
Dottie and Kit. Kit hates how good Dottie is at baseball and does not believe that Dottie wants to even
be on the team. All the while, Dottie does not understand Kit s frustration. Dottie tells Mr. Lowenstein
she is leaving if she is not put on another team. Instead, Kit gets put on another team.
The climax of the story is reached, Dottie and Kit have a critical conversation where they share their
true feelings with one another. It is at this moment that Dottie realizes she really does not know why
she is still in the league. In relevance to the moral, Kit is expressive about her love for baseball, while
Dottie seems to detach herself. She knows that when her husband comes back from the Army, she
must go back to him because, sticking to the bandwagon, Dottie believes she should remain a
housewife. Meanwhile, Kit does trust this outlook on life and she accepts the view that she can choose
a different course for her life. During this confrontation, the audience is able to see the split of ideals
of what one s life should reflect. They can see that Dottie is stuck in the mindset of staying home and
raising children, while Kit is up to date with modern society by understanding that there is so much
more to her life than what society says she should be.
In examination of the text, one of the first steps is to describe the setting (Sellnow, 2014, p. 55). The
story takes place in a small farm town in Oregon where no one really makes anything of themselves.
Dottie and Kit leave this setting to demonstrate that taking chances and following one s dreams can
make their life great. Dottie and Kit go against the norm of

Run Lola Run by Tom Tykwer
Run Lola Run by Tom Tykwer is a stunning film incorporating an array of distinctively visual
features. Distinctively visual texts are designed to manipulate the way we explore the images we see
and affects the way we make interpretations of the experiences we encounter in the world. The
distinctively visuals represented Tykwer s film, is significantly strong as unique images dominate the
screen to create a thrilling and suspenseful film. The story is told through images, symbols and motifs
as there is a noticeably limited amount of dialogue. I always start with an image as quoted by Tykwer
emphasising his unique ways of depicting his ideas. The most significant visual conveyed throughout
Run Lola Run is that of time. There are several references to the limited amount of time Lola has to
save Manni from Ronnie and his gang. The film is played out in real time as each run takes 20 minutes
to complete, adding an atmosphere of realism and tension toward the viewer. Tykwer incorporates a
variety of symbolic representations of time through the constant use of clocks. In the opening
sequence, the viewer observes a large and dominating pendulum of the gargoyal clock swinging
loudly from side to side. As Lola runs out of the apartment, we observe a clock in Lola s bedroom.
Aslo, while Manni is waiting for Lola outside the phone booth, we constantly view him looking up at
the clock outside reminding him of how much time he has left. This constant recurring image of

The Removal Of American Indian Tribes
Long ago on the great plains, the buffalo roamed and the Native Americans lived amongst each other.
They were able to move freely across the lands until the white men came and concentrated them into
certain areas. Today there are more than five hundred different tribes with different beliefs and history.
Native Americans still face problems about the horrific history they went through and today s
discrimination. The removal of American Indian tribes is one of the most tragic events in American
history. There are many treaties that have been signed by American representatives and people of
Indian tribes that guaranteed peace and the values of the Indian territories. The treaties were to assure
that fur trade would continue without interruption. The American people wanting Indian land has led
to violent conflict between the two. Succeeding treaties usually forced the tribes to give up their land
to the United States government. There were laws made for Native American Displacement that didn t
benefit the Native Americans, these laws still have long lasting effects on them today, and there was a
huge number of Native Americans killed for many reasons. Cultural differences between the English
and Native Americans took a toll of the Native American population. Throughout the Northeast,
making scalps out of the redskins was very common during the war times. Colonists were paid for

The Most Active Area Of Our Plate Tectonics Essay
While tracking all of Earths major earthquakes and volcanos there became trends that developed.
These trends allowed me to actually learn from our own Earth. The most active area of our plate
tectonics was subduction zones. This type of plate boundary was the reason for the majority of the
earthquakes documented over the semester. Most of these earthquakes were shallow, but at times had
very deep focal points. Because of the old, cold plate being sub ducted I saw significantly more deep
focus earthquakes in this tectonic setting. Subduction zones were also responsible for the deepest
earthquakes that were experienced throughout the semester. While capturing the title of the most
active, deepest earthquakes, it also produced the largest earthquakes of the semester. Subduction zones
accounted for nearly all of the earthquakes that registered a magnitude above 5.7. Because of these
earthquakes being the largest, they also created the most damage. These plates were able to cause the
most damage because of how much elastic energy they could store in their old, cold, and brittle plates.
There were several earthquakes throughout the semester that took the lives of the people living in the
area while causing destruction on their community infrastructure. Subduction zones also turned out to
be the setting for most of the active volcanos that I charted throughout the semester. The most
common type of volcano over the semester was a stratovolcano. Most of these were found along the

racism, of sexism and of inconceivable levels of domestic violence as well as incomprehensible
crimes like murder. The tragedy of missing Aboriginal women runs deep into the history of Aboriginal
dispossession and discrimination; it s not just about missing Aboriginal women; its health issues,
housing issues, economic security, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health, racism, and all of those
social factors that create a situation of Aboriginal women becoming victims. Canada contributes to the
issue of missing women by failing to address human rights issues for women. Canada has failed to
provide adequate assistance to women and girls living in poverty. There is a huge link between
poverty, lack of adequate housing, and violence especially for abuses suffered by

Non Collusive Oligopoly When there are no agreements between the companies in the oligopoly
market, then it is called Non collusive Oligopoly. Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI) Herfindahl
Hirschman Index is a degree of concentration of few large firms dominating an industry. It is
calculated as the sum of squares of market shares of the firm within the industry. Here the market
shares are expressed in percentage or in fractions. Its range lies between 0 to 1.0, in other words it
moves from huge number of small firms in an industry to a single monopolistic producer. As HHI
increases it shows a decline in competition and increase in market power. In case percentage is used
for calculation the index range changes from 0 to 10000 points. Eg. Index of .4 = 4000 points.

of oligopolistic market. All these industries have few firms for each product. In this report we would
be analysing the market share of cigarette industry and cold drink industry in India and calculate their

As We Saw Previously, We Can Divide The Touristic Industry
As we saw previously, we can divide the touristic industry into two major categories, the modern day
massive tourism and ecotourism. Both forms have a distinctive history, definition, economic benefits
and environmental impact. Although both are growing at lightning speed, especially as our societies
become wealthier and eager to explore the world around them, the biggest dilemma lies on which,
ecotourism or tourism, is a better alternative to pursue to balance economic development and
environmental protection. To find the answer, we need to analyze and compare the main premises
about the two topics.
In regards to history, the idea of being a tourist has been around for centuries. As we saw previously,
humans have dreamed of traveling and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In David Fennell s argument, we can t properly define tourism because we might leave a key element
economic activity out, especially if we understand that just in the category of attractions we have
museums, festivals, sports, cinemas, theme parks and others. The array of options in the industry of
tourism has made it one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the world. However, its massive
scope might not make tourism the best environmental alternative.
In the case of ecotourism s definition and scope, it is easier to understand its objective. In Martha
Honey s book, she introduced us to the seven characteristics of real ecotourism, which clearly limit the
definition to activities to natural destinations with an environmental educational purpose and with the
objective of benefiting financially local people and conservation areas. Based on that definition,
ecotourism is a better environmental alternative than regular tourism. However, its limited scope and
smaller scale programs place ecotourism at a disadvantage regarding financial development.
In terms of economic benefits, the tourism industry has been growing at an unprecedented speed. It
ranks number third in exports category with 7% of the yearly totals. As an industry, it represented 1.5
trillion dollars in 2015, with $1260 billion earned by the receipts in the same year. Tourism provided
with 109 million jobs worldwide in 2016. As it

Personal Eassy On Cross Country
One activity that has helped me grow a tremendous amount over the past four years has been my
involvement with cross country and track. Running and competing on a team has helped me grow in
confidence and as a leader. It has taught me the value hard work and discipline. It has taught me how
to embrace challenges, and, above all, it has taught me how to learn and grow from past failures.
Cross country is a sport that is won or lost inside your head. Obviously it takes physical fitness, but
even more than that it takes mental strength. I love running, and, for the most part, I have found
success and satisfaction in my high school career; however, I have also had my share of
disappointments and regrets. Weather it was just a bad race or a heartbreaking

Devices Should Be Taught In Schools Essay
Would the teachers of SJNCS rather have their students learn in a creative and fun way or have them
falling asleep in class? The best way and most effective way is having us the students bring our own
devices to school. We can learn and still have fun using our phones, tablets, laptops, and even kindles.
The students of St. John Neumann Catholic School should be able to bring their own devices to
school.
First of all, students can read on their devices. Using ebooks we get so much more options to choose
from ranges of academic and popular books. Having so many options we can read for A.R easily.
Every 4 weeks the students have to get 10 or more points, and sometimes it s hard finding the right
book in the school library. Also most times we can t even go to the library because it s either not open,
we have class, or we have too much to do in study to be able to go. In other words, our devices let us
have more varied book options and an easier access to books. Another way we can use our devices to
read is using our devices to read book assignments that the teachers assign. Recently, we have been
given short stories to read in our textbook, but most times these short stories are actually long. ...

We could actually save some of the school s money that is used on the ipads. By bringing our own
devices, the school can maybe cut back on some of its older technology, such as some of the older
ipads and computers. Most kids in this generation have ipods, ipads and phones, but some do not. The
ones who don t would still be able to use computers and ipads that are provided with the school.
However, with the students bringing their devices the school can have the opportunity to be a high
tech school. With all the changes, our school can make changes in letting the students have more
responsibility with bringing their device and improving our school one step at a

The Demise Of Macbeth In Shakespeare s Play
In Shakespeare s play, Macbeth, there are a series of incidents that lead to the demise of the main
character, Macbeth, starting with the murder of King Duncan due to Macbeth s determination to
obtain the throne. During Acts three and four of the play, Macbeth has already committed multiple
murders and unspeakable acts in order to remain Thane of Cawdor. Having Banquo, his friend and war
partner murdered is a critical moment in the story as it conveys Macbeth s choices, made by his own
free will, as well as marking his point of no return. Initially Macbeth is a war hero, saving Scotland
from the King of Norway. Macbeth is a warrior, not a killer nor does he want to rule however he is
informed by three witches called the weird sisters that he shall become Thane of Cawdor although he
is not the heir to the throne. After telling his wife, Lady Macbeth, this prophecy the two debates as to
whether the prophecy could even become true considering the current king, Duncan, is a satisfactory
leader and his son is appointed as heir. Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to kill Duncan and then give
a suggestion to the other lords to place him as Duncan s successor. Macbeth, who knows the prophecy
will happen either way agrees to his wife s plan however he does not know that this decision will be ...

Ir The Iranian Nuclear Program
The Iranian nuclear program began in the 1950 s under the Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. The Shah
applied for help to establish the program through the Atoms for Peace program. The program was
started by the United States and helped provide a nuclear research reactor and power plants for Iran.
At this time the United States and the rest of the world believed that Iran was interested in nuclear
power as a means to provide a power source to help modernize Iran. Seventeen years later Iran is one
of 51 nations to sign the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. In 1979 the Iranian government is
overthrown and Shah Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini comes to power and ends the nuclear power

continued to provide technology to Iran for the purposes of a peaceful nuclear energy program. In
2003 the European Union imposed economic sanctions on Iran due to the discovery of enriched
Uranium being found by the United Nation atomic agency. The ban lasts as long as Iran continues to
produce enriched Uranium. In November of 2004 a deal is struck between the EU and Iran to continue
to help Iran develop peaceful nuclear power as long as Iran stops production of enriched Uranium.
Between 2004 and the end of 2006 Iran completed construction of a heavy water reactor thereby
causing the United Nations to ban the import and export of materials and technology used in uranium
enrichment, reprocessing and ballistic missiles (Gootman, 2006, December 23). In 2011 the United
Nations provided credible proof that Iran was working on a nuclear device, this evidence resulted in
the strictest sanctions to date. The sanctions prevented Iran from conducting international

Similarities Between Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus
When Mary first wrote Frankenstein, she was debating over the name, she was thinking of either
Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus. The Modern Prometheus was actually a pretty legitimate
option for this novel. The there are many similarities between Prometheus and the story of
Frankenstein, such as what Prometheus does to the gods and how he steals fire and meat, and how
Frankenstein manages to synthesize life and gift it to his creation.
Prometheus is the Greek titan, who is the God of forethought and crafty counsel. He was given the
task of making man from clay. He performed this task, and in doing so also tried to better the lives of
his creation, so he stole meat from the gods feast, and gave it to the humans. When Zeus discovered
that Prometheus had stolen meat, he punished him by withholding fire from him, but he in turn, stole
fire from the heavens in a fennel stalk and gave it to man as well. As a punishment for this, Zeus
ordered the creation of the first woman, Pandora, to bring misfortune into the house of man, and for
Prometheus to be tied up to a steak, where an eagle would feed on his ever regenerating liver. ... Show

through some sort of black magic. Victor Frankenstein can be compared to a very distant, and unaware

  • 2. Strobel s Eight Objections To Belief In God What Strobel does in this book is to give eight objections to belief in God that those of us who work with people in doubt (agnostic or atheist) hear, and he then responds to them. The objections are: Since evil and suffering exist, a loving God cannot Since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true Evolution explains life so God isn t needed God isn t worthy of worship since He kills innocent children It is offensive to claim Jesus is the only way to God A loving God would never torture people in Hell Church history is littered with oppression and violence I still have doubts so I can t be a Christian This book puts both of that into a mixture of questions around faith and Christianity, yet at the same time, providing a number of explanations and reasons why those questions are so important in the context of faith. There are a number of interviews conducted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As with any book, and especially to the atheist, you have to understand this book is about a Case FOR Christ, it helps to steer you toward a Faith in Him that can change your life. I think the book is great for anyone seeking more answers about God, wanting to see arguments for or against their current views and to add a deeper perspective on what Faith really requires, regardless of your current believes, Christian or not. It s easy to read and doesn t require you to know a lot of historical background or content from the Bible but of course that helps as many references are used as evidence but not the whole context of them outlined. • 3. How Is Atticus A Good Role Model Atticus is a colleague of mine at the school where I work. I know that he would be a spectacular teacher at your school due to his fatherly image, his respect for his peers and the respect that he receives from others. His commitment to equality between blacks and whites make him a valuable contribution to the school community. These character traits create an excellent teacher in the classroom. Knowing Atticus for a long time has benefitted me with knowing his true personality and the events, which Harper Lee wrote about in To Kill A Mockingbird, that affected him (gerund). Atticus is an admirable teacher and role model to his students because of his outlook on equality. Having witnessed the Tom Robinson trial, I witnessed his effort to ... Atticus taught and raised both of his kids with Calpurnia (Atticus loyal housekeeper), which shows that he would be an open minded and a laudable educator. I remember the night when Atticus believed that his son, Jem, had killed Bob Ewell. He believed that his son had killed Mr. Ewell and needed to be punished just like everyone else, Thank you from the bottom of my heart, but I don t want my boy starting out with something like this over his head... I don t want him growing up with a whisper about him, I don t want anybody saying, Jem Finch... his daddy paid a mint to get him out of that (366). This characteristic of honesty and fatherly image proves to be a qualification for a teacher who would impact and challenge students in school. When he was thinking about what he was going to do with Jem s situation, he knew that he should not let the fact that it was his son get in the way of the fact that he should be just like everyone else. Atticus a good role model for younger children, but is also a good role model to kids, his peers, and adults in the environment. To see the way that Atticus cares for his family, peers, and friends shows his fatherly image, his commitment to equality for whites and blacks, and the respect he receives from his peers, kids, and the town ... • 4. Penny Lab Essay In this lab we will be heating up substances and use them to galvanize pennies. When you heat up the zinc, and then coat the penny in it, it then galvanizes the penny. Meaning, it helps protect the penny from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the penny. This helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On part B of this experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what reaction you get. The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinc covered pennies is that the pennies will change color. In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing (Francis, E . . .). Metallic bonds are when the electrons are shared and are able to move and how C models show that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps produce its characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). • 5. The Prince And Discourse On Livy In his famous works, The Prince and Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli meticulously discusses the importance of religion in the formation and maintaining a political order. Machiavelli regards religion as a political tool used by political elites for political purposes. He argues that the appearance of religion is good while the practice of it is harmful. One of the memorable passage from the Prince that supports Machiavelli s claim is when he advices the prince to not to be good, and the prince should cultivate the appearance of the religion if he wants to maintain his state. The prince, he writes, should appear all mercy, all faith, all honesty, all human, all religion he adds and nothing is more necessary to have than this last quality (The Prince, 70). Here, Machiavelli argues, in order for the prince to maintain his state, it is necessary for the prince to go to the source of morality and by this he means religion. Thus, Machiavelli view on religion is nothing but a necessary tool for maintaining a political authority. Furthermore, Machiavelli stresses the importance of the religion as a political mean to control and govern the masses. In the Discourse on Livy, Machiavelli uses the example of how Numa the founder of Roman religion, manipulates the Roman people by using religion to maintain order and peace. Machiavelli praises the wisdom of Numa for inventing a religion to control a very ferocious Romans. In praising Numa, Machiavelli writes: As he found a very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Merely hearing the names of these five great boxers felt like looking in a boxing museum, and Mosley appears to be wanting to re live his glory days after the 43 year old s sixth round knockout win over fellow aged fighter Ricardo Mayorga just last weekend. Mosley lost to both men via 12 round unanimous decisions. Mosley is one of a handful of veteran boxers today who are attempting at a career comeback at a very advanced age. • 8. Andrew Marvell, “to His Coy Mistress” Andrew Marvell, To His Coy Mistress In To His Coy Mistress the speaker carefully constructs a subtle and logical argument as to why his addressee should sexually unite with him. The speaker attempts this proposition through finesse in manipulating reason, form and imagery. The reasoning employed would be familiar to a reader educated in Renaissance England, as it is reminiscent of classical philosophical logic, entailing a statement, a counter statement and a resolution. In line with this method Marvell s speaker codes his argument in classical imagery. To understand this argument I will be approaching the poem in three clearly defined sections, which are denoted in the poem with indented lines. The first of these section ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next section runs from lines 21 to 32, here the speaker moves away from the hypothetical to reality but retains the melodramatic language used in the previous section to sustain the tenacity of his points. Time here is portrayed as chasing the speaker as opposed to being something the speaker is in control of as in the end of the last section. This is done using the image of a winged chariot (l.22), this has classical associations with Greek mythology which relates to his form of argument. The meter of the poem is restrictively regular, this structure emphasises the idea that time is constantly progressing; reflecting the speaker s argument. Space is no longer inhabited by images of movement and life like the rivers previously mentioned but instead: before us lie / Deserts of vast eternity (ll. 23 4). The desert has strong connotations with deathliness, an issue that the speaker gruesomely develops upon and progresses within this section. The speaker implies on lines 26 7 that the only exploration of the mistress s body that will be undertaken will be by the worms that are decomposing her body if she remains in her coy state. This thought that her sexuality should not be wasted is elaborated upon with a crude pun on line 29: And your quaint honor turn to dust which, as the Norton Anthology of Poetry explains in the footnote, is a play on the Middle English noun queynte which means female genitals. The battle of Bunker Hill was a significant event for the American colonists cause. It was fought in less than 3 hours on June 17th, 1775, but became a game changer in the struggle for independence. The British s plan to fortify and occupy the Boston area and harbor was met with a determined colonist army headed by Colonel Prescott. Although the colonists were way outnumbered, their cause for freedom produced much more vigorous attempt to hold their ground. The death toll was staggering for the British army and they were found perplexed at the reduction of their force. The American ragtags were ferocious in their attempt to win this battle. The Phonetic Inventory of Saudi Arabic Many research papers have talked about measuring stop consonants voicing. There are many researchers put their attention on figuring out the difficulties of pronouncing voicing and voiceless consonants by L2 learners such as (Binturki, 2008; Flege and Port, 1981; Al Saidat, 2010). The difference between voicing and voiceless consonants is the voicing that occurs during the stop closure interval. The consonant is voiced when there is voicing, while if there is no voicing, the consonant is voiceless. However, Lisker and Abramason (1964) do not see that consonant stops (p, b, t, d, k, g) could be distinguished depending on a distinction feature like the vocal cords voicing. For that reason, they proposed a distinction feature between voiced and voiceless consonants which is Voice Onset Time (VOT). They defined VOT as the time interval between the burst that marks release of the stop closure and the onset of quasi periodicity that reflects laryngeal vibration (1964, 422). Since English voiceless bilabial stop /p/ is not found in Saudi Arabic, Saudi speakers of English as a second language have two possible ways to pronounce it. People start to fear that their own life becomes in danger if they try to intervene in something of that magnitude. I can completely understand why people would be more hesitant when it comes to helping others when they fear their own life can be taken from them. This type of fear is one of the main reason the Holocaust happened and people did very little to help the Jews. During the Holocaust there were mass killings involving huge crowds and a very massive witness group. The Germans were brain washed to think the Jews were horrible people and they blamed them for taking away their dignity as a country. There are reports of dozen of witness that stood by and did nothing to help. The down side to having guns so relevant in society is the fact that often it can fall into the wrong hands. The vast majority of american households have at least one fire arm in the house. Hypoxia mediates immune cell recruitment (eg.; Lymphocytes in colorectal cancer) and concentrates them at the tumor periphery to support cancer invasion at the leading edge. Hypoxia in the tumor core leads to aggressive selection pressure for resilient stem like tumor cells due to which these cells migrate to the periphery of the tumor. 2.3INTRAVASATION According to Paget s hypothesis of seed and soil , cancer cells (seed) gradually acquire mutations in oncogenes or tumour suppressor genes that confer the ability to intravasate, survive in the haematogenous or lymphatic circulation, and prosper in a distant site (soil). This soil would have characteristics that allow the metastatic cell to adhere and proliferate. In humans, certain tumours metastasize to specific organ sites. For example, breast cancers metastasize to lung, liver, bone and brain; melanoma to liver, brain and skin. By contrast, some tumors like glioma do not metastasize, instead migrate along white matter tracks, others such as ovarian tumours are restricted to the peritoneal cavity. A League Of Their Own Narrative Analysis This section employs narrative analysis to the story A League of Their Own in order to highlight the moral of the film that women have a choice over their future and do not have to be stay at home mothers. Once again, a story needs a plot with a beginning, middle, and end (Sellnow, 2014, p. 60). Dottie and Kit s story begins in the small farm town where they work at the dairy and play ball for fun. During a game, a recruiter takes notice of Dottie, then from there, Dottie and Kit s baseball career takes off. Their upward progression proves that anything is possible. Tensions run high between sisters Dottie and Kit. Kit hates how good Dottie is at baseball and does not believe that Dottie wants to even be on the team. All the while, Dottie does not understand Kit s frustration. Dottie tells Mr. Lowenstein she is leaving if she is not put on another team. Instead, Kit gets put on another team. The climax of the story is reached, Dottie and Kit have a critical conversation where they share their true feelings with one another. It is at this moment that Dottie realizes she really does not know why she is still in the league. In relevance to the moral, Kit is expressive about her love for baseball, while Dottie seems to detach herself. She knows that when her husband comes back from the Army, she must go back to him because, sticking to the bandwagon, Dottie believes she should remain a housewife. Meanwhile, Kit does trust this outlook on life and she accepts the view that she can choose a different course for her life. During this confrontation, the audience is able to see the split of ideals of what one s life should reflect. Similarities Between Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus When Mary first wrote Frankenstein, she was debating over the name, she was thinking of either Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus. The Modern Prometheus was actually a pretty legitimate option for this novel. The there are many similarities between Prometheus and the story of Frankenstein, such as what Prometheus does to the gods and how he steals fire and meat, and how Frankenstein manages to synthesize life and gift it to his creation. Prometheus is the Greek titan, who is the God of forethought and crafty counsel. He was given the task of making man from clay.
