This material gives you a large benefit if you are non-Japanese software vendor who are aiming to start business with Japanese manufacturer. Many oversea software engineering supplier have been facing a lot of difficulties in explaining their software quality to those customers. This presentation simply explains what Japanese manufacturer expects from your presentation and evaluates your quality presentation.
Trends in Software Testing: There has been a slow realization among the top executives that simply outsourcing testing to the lowest bidder is not resulting in a sufficient level of quality in their software products. In this session, Paul Holland will discuss how American companies are starting to reconsider “factory school” testing and are no longer satisfied with the current situation of simply outsourcing their “checking”. As the development side of software continues its dramatic shift toward Agile development – what role can testers have and how can testers still add value?
We proposed in this talk several ways for product teams to rethink strategies or approaches to try to validate assumptions in the face of daily business challenges. We'll also show you some simple possibilities for your team to start practicing the most empirical approach to problems in your products/services today.
Testing in modern times a story about quality and value - agile testing dev ...Huib Schoots
In agile and especially DevOps approaches the motto is: automated everything! Companies like Facebook claim they do not have testers at all. Microsoft only has SDET (software development engineers in Test), other companies are T-shaping developers to do the testing. New kid on the block is AI and machine learning, that will definitely replace testing I hear people claim. What is really happening globally? Do we no longer need testers? Can we actually automate everything? How can we make valuable software for our clients?
In this presentation I will address questions like:
* Do we need testing? And if so: why is testing important?
* What is the business case of testing?
* Can developers also test? And if so: do we still need testers?
* How can we create quality software?

Nauczysz się też manipulować innymi ludźmi i umiejętnie, niedostrzegalnie sprawiać, by działali według Twojego planu.

Presentation on Open Data applications was given for Innovation Council by Appsilon - Data Science company.
It is possible for a product to pass quality assurance tests and acceptance testing without being user-friendly. It is also too easy for those of us who build digital products to make assumptions about what our users need. As a design thinker, I strive to bring the authentic voices of complex audiences into the product lifecycle through pragmatic research.
A sound design research process not only shapes digital products to be more usable, it also adds value to drive engagement.
As business owners and execs, as product managers and sales people, we are surrounded by big data. Yet, we have big questions about our customers that we still don't have the answers to. We know a lot about what people are doing but not really the underlying reasons why. To get at that why you need to leverage the power of SMALL data.
A product development usually starts out with making educated guesses and assumptions of what you think the customer segment wants. However, you are not the customer. It is vital you test the hypotheses in the market. Only validation will ensure a robust foundation of the NPD before going into the design and build phase.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

You need to know the discipline
Knowledge of development process
Knowledge of testing proces
Practical knowledge about test techniques
Experience in using tools supporting testing
Anything else?
6. To be a good tester
Your role can be considered as a
bridge between the business and the

You work with people:
Analysts
Developers
Customers
End users
You work with people representing
different background, knowledge,
sometimes culture
7. To be a good tester
Where are you on this picture?
8. To be a good tester
What else do you need?
Processes, techniques and tools are not enough
Working with people requires special skills
Therefore, the next step to be a good tester is gathering soft skills:
Communication
Negotiation
Patience
Understanding

It is still not enough

To be able to do it, you need to understand the object.

I want a cat.
The cat should have 4 legs, 2 eyes and 2 ears.
The cat should be provided in 2 weeks
12. Why this topic?
What features would you test for?
Why do you want to test it like that?
13. Why this topic?

There are many options like:

Coming back to our requirments…
The cat after development and some reworks coming from your feedback…
16. Why this topic?
Now, let’s assume that the customer has
specific requirements and wanted a cat
like this…
It seems you didn’t build the right
product…
19. Conclusion
How many of you are „cat experts”?
• Collect requirements
• Validate requirements
• Design the right product
• Test for the right product
You need to know the „domain” to be able to
20. The only thing more expensive than
writing software is writing bad
software

21. Business knowledge and testing
Your responsibility as a tester is not only to simply execute test cases
You also design tests and plan their execution
Because of this, you need to understand what are you going to test:
• You need to understand requirements
• You need to „see” the business context of the system and the whole project
• You need to understand the purpose of the products and its impact on testing
22. Ok, you may say – requirements
should clearly say what to test
23. Business knowledge and testing
The problem is:
The requirements are often poorly documented
The requirements are often missing
The requirements are often inconsistent
The second problem is that to claim requirements as not good, you must know the
business area
In other case, how can you know that you are testing „the right cat”?
The system should be usable
The system should be fast
24. Let me tell you a story

The problem was they had
no idea about banking…

different than
the
simulators….
