The Burke View Court Sewer Emergency project addresses a broken 16-inch sanitary asbestos cement sewer pipe crossing a stream tributary to Pohick Creek. The break was found when Wastewater Collection Division investigated a report of a sanitary sewer overflow. It was determined that the line had been broken during a private dredging operation in the forebay of a pond. The pipe that was broken was under the stream and did not have casement around the pipe. The broken pipe segment was replaced and upgraded with a steel casing pipe to mitigate future damage. The project was substantially completed February 2, 2021.
