This document discusses bounce rate and exit rate metrics and provides tips to reduce bounce rate. It defines bounce rate as the percentage of single-page sessions and exit rate as the percentage of sessions that were the last in a session. The document then provides an example calculation of bounce rate and exit rate for a sports website. It identifies common reasons for high bounce rates such as thin site content, incorrect analytics code implementation, and poor site design. Finally, it provides tips for checking if the analytics code is working properly, including using the real-time report and Google Tag Assistant browser extension.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Bounce Rate and Exit Rate | How to reduce Bounce Rate
1. How To Reduce Bounce Rate | Exit
Rate & Improve Conversion
2. What is Bounce Rate?
• Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page sessions ( i.e. a
session is the period time a user is actively engaged with your
website, app, etc. All usage data (Screen Views, Events,
Ecommerce, etc.) is associated with a session.)
• Bounce Rate for a page is based only on sessions that start with
that page.
3. Let's extend this example to explore the Bounce
rate metrics for a series of single-session days for a
website like sports.com
• Saturday: Football > US Football > NFL
• Sunday: NFL > Exit
• Monday: US Football > Exit
• Tuesday: Football > NFL > US Football
• Wednesday: US Football > NFL
• Thursday: Football > NFL
4. The % Bounce Rate calculations are:
• Page_Football: 0% (three sessions began with Page Football, but
that was not a single-page session, so it has no Bounce Rate)
• Page_US Football: 50% (two sessions started with Page US Football,
with one leading to a bounce)
• Page_NFL: 100% (one session started with Page C, and it lead to a
bounce)
5. Exit Rate
• Exit rate as a term used in website traffic analysis.
• Exit Rate is the percentage that were the last in the session.
6. Let's consider the previous example to explore the
Exit rate metrics for a series of single-session days
for a website like sports.com
• Saturday: Football > US Football > NFL
• Sunday: NFL > Exit
• Monday: US Football > Exit
• Tuesday: US Football > NFL > Football
• Wednesday: US Football > NFL
• Thursday: Football > NFL
7. The % Exit Rate calculations are:
• Page_Football: 33% (3 of 6 sessions included Page Football)
• Page_US Football: 25% (4 of 6 sessions included Page US Football)
• Page_NFL: 80% (5 of 6 sessions included Page NFL)
9. Few pages site with Thin Content
• If you've only few pages (like Home, About, Contact) of your site
then visitors don't have much opportunity for more pageviews and
Analytics doesn't register multiple pageviews unless users reload
that page again.
• As a consequence, few page site have high bounce rate.
10. Incorrect Implementation of Analytics Code
• If you've a multiple page site with a long content but seeing high
bounce rate then recheck that you've added the Analytics tracking
code to all your pages.
11. User Performance
• Some user bookmark your site pages and they return the same
page and leaves too from that page. This considered as a bounce.
12. Poor Site Design
• If your site landing page is full of poor content or advertisement
poster then user don't stay too much time in your site.
• Optimize your pages with appropriate keywords and redesign
them.
• Checked that your page Ads are relevant with page content.
• If site navigation is not working properly or lack of internal
linking.
• You should redesign your site landing page if necessary.
13. How to check Analytics code working or not
There are few ways to check your Google Analytics tracking code is
working or not. If you've any doubt in mind then try one of the
option below to check your tracking code or set up your tracking
code again.
14. Check Real Time Report on Analytics
• With the Real Time data, you can monitor the user real time
activity on your website.
• If you see right data on this report, then your tracking code is
correctly working.
• Now navigate to your site property to which you added your
tracking code.
• Go to the Reporting tab.
• Select Real Time > Overview
16. Use Google Tag Assistant to Verify
• Google Tag Assistant is a free chrome browser extension that will
help you to understand if Google Analytics tag are firing correctly
or not.
• Google Tag Assistant also show you the tracking code that is
currently active.
31. Now check for a internal page. And it's working too.
32. If there is no tracking code then it's showing this.
33. Tag Assistant Different Icon Color Means
• A GREY icon with an 'x' indicates that no code was found on the
page.
• A GREEN indicator will show if a valid tag was found. The number
in the icon indicates the number of tags that were found.
• A BLUE indicator will show there are suggestions on improving
overall tagging health.
• A YELLOW indicator will show that a tag was found with minor
implementation issues.
• A RED indicator will show that a tag was found with critical
implementation issues.
