Mondavi Case Analysis
Identification: Overview of current situation: Making wine is nothing else but a touch of passion, love
and few drops of magic. From the first view, wine industry seems very artistic and secret at the same
time. There is no doubt that hearing that Robert Mondavi Corporation is going to layoff 4% of its
workforce ring the bell to the investors, at the same type the stock price dropping down dramatically
makes an impression that the company is going through difficult period as the senior management is
upon completing the reconfiguring future strategy. The big decision is whether to get back to original

ADC Lab Analysis
The INL shown in figure 3.4 describes the overall shape of an ADC transfer characteristic from the
straight line drawn between end points after both the offset error and the gain error are nullified. The
INL is mathematically given [36] as ; ........................................(3.5)
3.1.1.4 Resolution
The resolution is defined as the number of output bits of an ADC. The resolution of n bit ADC defines
how many parts the maximum signal can be divided into. The resolution is calculated by the formula
2n. The flash ADC is used for low resolution applications.
3.1.1.5 Conversion speed
The amount of analog input converted by an ADC in one second is known as the conversion speed.

3.1.2.1 Signal to noise Ratio (SNR)
The ratio of signal power to noise power is known as the signal to noise ratio (SNR). It is also known
as signal to quantization ratio (SQNR). The signal to noise ratio determines how much noise in an
ADC. Mathematically the SNR is given [34] as ;
Mean square value of quantization error = ∆2/12
If the input signal is (A. Sinωt), then signal power = A2/2
Full scale range for an n bit ADC = 2n∆
Amax = 2n 1 ∆
Maximum signal power = ((2n 1 ∆)2) / 2
Noise Power = ∆2/12
Peak SNR = (((2n 1 ∆)2) / (2* ∆2/12)) = 3. 22n 1
SNR = 20 log10 (ARMS,signal / ARMS,noise)
SNR in decible = 10 log10(3. 22n 1)
= (6.02n + 1.76) dB .............................................................(3.7)
Where, ARMS,signal = Root mean square (RMS) amplitude for the signal. ARMS,noise = Root mean
square (RMS) amplitude for the noise.
3.1.2.2 Signal to noise and Distortion ratio (SINAD)
The signal to noise and distortion ratio (SINAD) [40] is defined as the ratio of the signal power and to
noise power including the significant harmonics. Since the signal to noise ratio (SNR) does not
include the significant harmonics, the SNR is usually larger than the SINAD. SINAD is
mathematically given as ;
SINAD = 20 . log10 ( ARMS,signal / ARMS,noise + harmonics ) dB ..................(3.8)

The Superformation Of Female Superheroes In The Wonder Woman
DC comics, illustrated the comic book, Wonder Woman, that strive for female superheroes to be
envisioned with great empowering messages for the other females who enjoy reading comics. The
female superhero, Wonder Woman, is given empowering qualities such as leadership and devotion.
Although, Wonder Woman is given these empowering qualities, the comic book artists clothed this
female character with clothing that sexualizes them greatly because of the amount of skin that is being
revealed. The suits that these female superheroes are shown to be wearing stimulates this sensual
excitement to the male audience which erupts these superheroes to receive a greater amount of
attention than those female superheroes who do not necessarily reveal as much skin. Similar to the
group of girls described in Rat Queens, the female superhero, Wonder Woman, contributes to the way
these adolescent girls are being judged for the appearance they should resemble. According to An
Analysis of Embodiment Among Six Superheroes in DC Comics , the author, Edward Avery Natale,
has incorporated astonishing research on the presentation of female superheroes in comic books.
Avery Natale stated that Lips, facial expressions, and hairstyles were also coded using the guide s
discussion on how to make women appear sultry ... [Avery Natale, 100] which goes to show that
female superheroes are created to be shown as physically and sexually pleasing so that these heroes
can attract more readers. Comic books

Community Oriented Policing
Community Oriented Policing
In spite of the fact that the United States still exceeds many other industrialized nations in overall
crime and violent crime, it has been effective in decreasing its crime rate, particularly during the
1990s. While some coalitions have attributed this positive development to changes in socio
demographic trends and rigid enforcement approaches, one coalition highlights the success of the
community oriented policing and problem oriented policing in eradicating the root causes of crime
(Stephens, 2003). While I don t believe that community oriented policing in the sole cause of
decreased crime rates I do believe that it has its positive and negative sides.
Community oriented policing is based on the complete ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with this model is that it is difficult for police departments to dedicate officer to public
relations while there are serious crimes that need to be prevented. The idea of the public reporting
crimes to the police in a community meeting is acceptable but in many cases especially with the
current economic crisis that we are facing, it is impossible for police departments to have officers
strictly assigned to community police. As discussed earlier without full cooperation from both sides
the practice of community police is ineffective.
The community policing plan created by the City of Aberdeen in Maryland provides a good example
of how the partnership between the police and members of the community can be effective for dealing
with crimes. In order to promote the police and community s adoption of these new roles, the Mid
Atlantic Regional Community Policing Institute (MARCPI), along with the Johns Hopkins University,
will offer training to the police and the community. Both the police and the community have to learn
how to change their thinking processes in order to deal with the problems in a proactive way, instead
of the conventional reactive fashion. Through the training sessions, the members of the community,
the police officers and city department heads will acquire the skills and knowledge for addressing
problems. The involvement of the city department heads and other

Hypochondriasis Research Papers
Somatoform disorders are a group of psychiatric disorders that cause unexplainable physical
symptoms. The DSM IV lists the symptoms as weakness, seizures, or abnormal movements that are
not attributable to a general medical condition or to feigning and that are judged to be associated with
psychological factors. Hypochondriasis is defined as an overwhelming fear that you have a serious
disease, even though health care providers can find no evidence of illness (University of Maryland
Medical Center). Although it is widely believed to be a stable and chronic condition with a low
remission rate, studies show that patients exhibit significant declines in symptoms yet continue to
meet the DSM s diagnostic criteria over an extended time period. ... Show more content on

This new DSM V term focuses on basing diagnosis on positive symptoms, rather than the absence of a
medical explanation of somatic symptoms. While DSM IV was organized centrally around the concept
of medically unexplained symptoms, DSM 5 criteria instead emphasize the degree to which a patient s
thoughts, feelings and behaviors about their somatic symptoms are disproportionate or excessive
(American Psychological Association). The DSM V now defines conversion disorder as functional
neurological symptom disorder due to overlapping symptoms and lack of medical evidence. Another
key change in the DSM V criteria is that while medically unexplained symptoms were a key feature
for many of the disorders in DSM IV, a somatic symptom disorder diagnosis does not require that the
symptoms are medically unexplained. The criteria for conversion disorder has been modified to
underscore the the essential importance of the neurological examination and in recognition that
relevant psychological factors may not be demonstrable at the time of

How Weather Derivatives Are Based On Standard Derivative...
Weather derivatives are based on standard derivative structures, such as puts, calls, and swaps.
Fundamental attributes of these structures are: the tick size, which is the payout amount per unit in the
index beyond the strike; the strike, which is the value of the underlying index when the contract starts
to pay out; and the limit, which is the contract s maximum financial payout.
v. Premium .
The buyer of a weather option pays a premium to the seller that is typically between 10% and 20% of
the notional amount of the contract. It can vary significantly depending on the risk profile of the
contract. Usually there is not an upfront premium associated with swaps.

V. Who uses weather derivatives?
Within the larger category of exotic weather derivatives, there are a number of sub categories that are
utilized by companies who work in various markets. Unsurprisingly, the large companies who use
weather derivatives are those whose businesses are widely affected by the weather on a day to day
basis. Therefore, many weather derivative contracts are based on temperature, rainfall, and snowfall.
Demand for sophisticated and flexible OTC products involving these three variables are growing far
more quickly than standardized, exchange traded contracts. And there are new ideas and experimental
weather derivatives buzzing about the markets, including contracts based on sunshine and even wind
patterns.
Although today energy companies are the biggest users of these trades, there is growing awareness
and signs of potential growth in the trading of weather futures among agricultural firms, renewables,
mining, retail, construction companies, restaurants, and even companies involved in tourism and
travel, like hotels and airlines. The number of markets that could invest in and could benefit from
weather derivatives is endless. Here are some examples of industries and companies that currently use
weather derivatives, the type of weather they hedge on, and the risks they assume:

impact of three different Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices on a
power system and to analyse their capabilities with respect to various disturbances. FACTS devices
discussed in this paper are Static Var Compensator (SVC), Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor
(TCSC) and Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). The impact on power flow and Power
Oscillation Damping due to these devices is analysed in detail. Simulations based on different choices
of Power Oscillation Damping (POD) signal are simulated for small and large disturbance incurred on
the system. Effect of Linear (residue method) and Non linear (CLF) based POD signals on the system
is shown in the paper. Impact of each device is considered separately followed by a comparative study
between them. All simulations are done with the help of SIMPOW and all figures are plotted in

Mead Hall In Beowulf
The mead hall was a major factor in the Anglo Saxon culture. As the two tribes, Angles and Saxons
joined together, they carried on their traditions of mead halls and brought them to England. The mead
halls not only brought them together, but it also made the Anglo Saxons feel safer and happier as a
culture when they gathered there. It acted as a safe haven for them to gather and celebrate, drink, and
talk. Scops would assemble a group of men and women to apprise them of epic tales. While other
times, the mead hall was used for celebrating their victories. Warriors often celebrated by drinking
mead and feasting together; they also used the mead hall as sleeping quarters. It was home to the king

Hrothgar rewards Beowulf and his warriors with gold treasures to celebrate their victorious battles and
accomplishments. The queen, Wealhtheow, bestows Beowulf with the golden cup along with a gold
necklace and armband. During the feast, Hrothgar gives his warriors gold treasures from his treasure
chest as an act of gratitude. In their culture, gold represents honor and most would do anything for it.
Gold is represented and displayed in Beowulf on the skin of Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the
dragon. It is also incorporated in the treasures. The dragon guards it his entire life, and it is the mission
of many, including Beowulf to slay the dragon to get the treasures he is protecting. The moments
before Beowulf dies, he asks Wiglaf to get him some of the dragon s gold so that his last sight could
be what he was fighting for. Treasures were also placed on Beowulf s funeral pyre. Grendel s arm and
the sword was another treasure that Beowulf earned. Because Beowulf killed Grendel by ripping off
his arm, Beowulf hung the arm to show and display in Heorot Hall; the sword was his weapon that he
took to try to defeat Grendel s mother. Grendel s arm showed his bravery and loyalty to his lord and
his men. He showed by example to his men that it takes courage and honor to fight for your life for
what you believe is right. When scops tell the story of Beowulf, it is an honor to him for the
community to hear in the mead hall. The characters and

Physics of Firearms Essay
Shooting is a popular activity and it is enjoyed by many people, so much so that it is also done at a
competitive level. Although many people may have shot a firearm of some sort, few of those people
actually realize how much physics is involved with the shot.
So what exactly is Ballistics? Ballistics is the science or study of the motion of projectiles and in the
case of most firearms, these projectiles are the bullets. There are two things that affect the flight of a
bullet once it has been shot out of the gun. These things are the drag of air on the bullet and the force
of gravity acting upon the bullet.
The force of gravity acting upon the bullet is always in a constant direction, which is down, at a rate of
9.81m/s^2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sectional density, in metric units, is calculated by multiplying the bullet weight in grams by 1.422,
then dividing this by the caliber, in millimeters, squared.
So what affect does sectional density have on the bullets trajectory? Sectional density is the number
that states the bullets ability to retain it s velocity. In other words, the higher the sectional density
value is, the flatter the trajectory of the bullet will be.
After the sectional density, next there is the shape of the bullet that affects its trajectory. The number
that is related to the shape of the bullets is called the Ballistic Coefficient (BC).
So how does the ballistic coefficient affect the bullet s trajectory? The BC is the ability for the bullet
to go through the air or it s air resistance. The higher the BC, the easier it is for the bullet to travel
through the air.
If one bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .273, and another bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .623, this
difference in the two BC values is due to the shape of the bullet. The rounded tip of the one bullet has
a harder time moving through the air than the other sharply tipped bullet.
So what other physics are involved in shooting a firearm? Energy! When a bullet is fired, it has a huge
amount of kinetic energy. This can be calculated using the formula F=MA. That is, the force, F, is
calculated with M, which is the mass of the bullet, times it s acceleration, A.

Jones has been decreasing because of the rapid retail environmental changes, unhealthy cultures, and

to apply the most suitable change management for company.
1.2 Aim The aim of this report is not only applying the change management theory, model, and style
for David Jones and David Jones CEO, Paul Zahra, but also supporting the arguments through case
studies in order to find practical solution.

it is supported by case studies that the linkage between inability of identifying of retail environmental
changes and Zahra s new rescue plan for David Jones failed because after the new rescue plan of
Zahra, net profit and share price continued to decrease. Moreover, the case study said that it may be a
good five years before strategy can be assessed properly (Waddell Waddell, Cummings Worley 2014).
On the other hand, Lewin s change model or action research model is not suitable for David Jones
case because of focusing on more problems in the organisation than concentrating on retail
environmental changes. The result of implementation of Lewin s change model or action research
model would be led to the strategic failure. The possibility of positive model of planned change for
David Jones makes it necessary for the company to use positive model.
3. THE CURRENT RESTRUCTURE OF DAVID JONES
3.1 Current business restructure analysis
Even though this report agrees with the current restructure and rescue plan of David Jones, which
were divided main three parts including eleven subparts that are renovating store policies, focusing its
core strengths, and transferring from traditional business to technologically oriented business, I want
to add two main parts that are sustainable training and focused marketing strategy.

Egg Came Before Chicken Research Paper
What came first the chicken or the egg? This has been a debated question for some time now. Some
say the chicken came first, some say the egg came first, and others have no idea. In our opinion, the
egg came before the chicken no matter how you look at it. Rather, you are religious, or you believe in
science, the egg came before the chicken. In this research paper Mike and I will be explaining how we
think the egg came before the chicken from a religious point of view and a scientific point of view.
First, we will be explaining how the egg came before the chicken from a religious point of view.
Genesis 1:24 said And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and
creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. This bible quote says how God
created land animals, but it does not say they magically appeared on earth. One way you can look at it
is God created an egg and the egg hatch, and there is your chicken. It is also a possibility that he
created a proto chicken egg, or a non chicken egg that hatched a non chicken, ... Show more content

I am a spiritual person, and I believe in God. I also believe in science to a certain extent.I also believe
that he did put some mature animal on earth and allowed them to skip birth, but I do not think this is
the situation for the chicken. I believe God created a non chicken which eventually gave birth to a
chicken egg which hatched a chicken. I know that genetic mutation is possible, so this is how I believe
the chicken was born. Over time, due to genetic mutation a chicken was hatched from a chicken egg.
My explanation is biblical as well as scientific. I inputted information from both point of views in my
explanation because, I am a spiritual guy and I also agree with science, and I believe that I expressed
my answer in both ways the best that I could and I do not see myself getting persuaded to change my

Neither Victims Or Executioners, By Albert Camus
Neither Victims nor Executioners A Meditation on Camus
In such as world of conflict, a world of victims and executioners, it is the job of thinking people, not to
be on the side of the executioners.
Several collections of quotation on the web attribute the one cited above to the French writer and
existentialist, Albert Camus. It s a powerful quote that arrests the imagination of the perceptive reader;
a reader who has followed with shock and revulsion the chronicles of mindless assassins who have
roamed the earth these passed forty years to harvest the fruit of massacre. Though the quote is striking,
Camus did not write it. It comes from A People s History of the United States, written by the historian
and playwright, Howard Zinn.
Doubtless, this was Zinn s summary of Camus concluding words from an article entitled, Toward
Dialogue: Neither Victims nor Executioners. It appeared as the last of eight chapters in a collection of
his essays, published as Camus at Combat: Articles and Editorials (1944 1947). These essays
conveyed his experiences and reflections as a partisan in the French Underground ... Show more

Some of his moral views, I believe, made even Camus uncomfortable. In 1942, he wrote The Stranger,
a story of death, revenge, and murder, told blandly by one who awaited a prison execution. Critics
note the moral and emotional indifference in that story, a coldness that seems to conflict with Camus
1947 novel, The Plague. That tale depicts how different inhabitants of a city manage the realities of a
deadly pestilence, as each personally experiences the very real threat of death. Are the two stories in
conflict? Camus would reject the claim, saying that both novels are simply case studies in the absurd.
Moreover, if the critic found this answer unacceptable, he might then add that the absurdity of life

How Did Jack Sparrow Die In Pirates Of The Caribbean
Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales is tickling the fancies of Johnny Depp and
Orlando Bloom fans everywhere. Considerably, in terms of budget, it is a huge movie plus it has a
new villain. But there is one thing that a lot of fans are trying to account. Is Johnny Depp s Jack
Sparrow going to die in Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales? It seems that Jack
Sparrow has an endless list of enemies. And most of them are either dead, dying, mystical or women.
Last Pirates Movie in Franchise Take into account the various pirates he encounters along the way that
wants him dead. Consider in the previous films that he is somewhat smitten by Elizabeth Swan.
However, Swan marries William Turner in the end. In an interview with the Inquirer, Johnny Depp
reveals that this could be the last movie of the franchise. And if that is so, he wants to end it ... Show

By doing it for love as most movies often do. Kaya Scodelario, who plays Carina in Pirates of the
Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales, is reportedly playing his love interest. She embodies the
modern woman fighting for education and female rights. This kind of strong characteristic attracts
Jack Sparrow. This makes her the perfect Jack Sparrow love interest. But in his quest to save himself
by retrieving Poseidon s Trident, he sacrifices his life in the end. Henry Turner Takes the Reigns
Where does Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites) come in? His father, Orlando Bloom s Will Turner, is
unable to take the Black Pearl as he is still captain of the Flying Dutchman. And with Jack Sparrow
gone, Henry Turner steps up and follows Jacks and his father s footsteps. Is Jack Sparrow going to
make the ultimate sacrifice for love in Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales? These are
mostly theories but when it comes to the end of the franchise, anything is possible. Watch out for the
movie to hit theaters on May 26,

The Duke Of She Observed To Confucius Analysis
1) The Duke of She observed to Confucius: Among us, there was an upright man called Kung who
was so upright that when his father appropriated a sheep, he bore witness against him. Confucius said:
The upright men among us are not like that. A father will screen his son and a son his father yet
uprightness is to be found in that. (Analects) Page 78 in Reader The passage is teachings of Confucius
about filial piety. This is a conversation between Confucius and his student. Confucius answers to his
student about how to be an upright man and respect the elders. His point is that a son cannot bear
witness against his own father because father and family are above everything in this world. As
Confucius said: a son should resume his reverential attitude but not abandon his purpose . If a father
does something wrong, the responsibility of a son is to respectfully give pieces of advice no matter
what. If the father does not listen to those pieces of advice and keeps doing the wrong thing, a son
cannot make the father unhappy but keep giving advice. Filial duty is not bearing witness against our
own parents to prove our uprightness but to respect and protect parents, as the way they screen us. 2)

The historical occasion of this passage is when Gilgamesh came to Siduri on his way of searching for
answers to immortality and secrets of life. And then Siduri shares her wisdom to Gilgamesh. The
subject of this counsel is what actually does matter in life, according to Siduri. And the purpose of it is
to point out that to appreciate what one has is sometimes more important than searching for something
that out of hand, in this case, immortality. This counsel is somewhat similar to what Utnapishtim, the
keeper of knowledge deep hidden, tells Gilgamesh after sending him to the vain quest of looking for
youth, which is the secret of life is to let go of profession and to just

Similarities Between Shakespeare And King James Bible
Shakespeare and the King James Bible Shakespeare and King James relation to the bible was similar
in many ways. One of the main reasons being how much they had in common, religious, wealthy, and
power wise as in royalty. King james was the king of scotland and was the only son of mary, queen of
scots, and her second husband, henry stewart,King james became king when he was one year old.
Shakespeare s acting and writing career made him and king james even more alike as they both shared
the same amount of popularity. Shakespeare was a translator of the King James Bible because of
psalm 46, his connections to king james, and shakespeare s practice in religion. The king james

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Image Segmentation
Image Segmentation Image segmentation attempts to separate an image into its object classes.
Clustering methods, edge based methods, histogram based methods, and region growing methods
offer different advantages and disadvantages. The use of a Gaussian mixture expectation maximization
(EM) method has been investigated to realize segmentation specifically for x ray luggage scans [131].
Namely, k Gaussian distributions are added to best fit the image histogram, with each Gaussian
distribution corresponding to its own object class. In an x ray image, high density objects absorb more
x ray photons and appear more intensely than low density objects. In a typical x ray luggage scan
image, there will generally be a mix of low density, medium density, and high density objects.
Because of this characteristic, an image segmentation algorithm which requires knowledge of the
number of partitions in the segmentation, such as in EM segmentation, is still a viable and perhaps
even favorable method. By segmenting an x ray image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both methods work on a 64x64 input window to extract feature and start by first determining edges
oriented at 0, 90, 45, and 45 degrees. In a method known as cell edge distribution (CED), each 64x64
edge map is divided into 16 16x16 cells, and the number of edge pixels in each of these cells is
counted. In another method known as principal projected edge distribution (PPED), edge pixels are
counted along the orientation of the edge map. For example, edge pixels in a horizontal edge map are
counted by counting the number of edge pixels in every 4 rows of the edge map. The result of either
feature extraction method is a 64 element feature vector. A third suggested feature vector is a simple
concatenation of CED and PPED feature vectors into a 128 element feature vector simply referred to

POWER STRATEGIES FOR MIDDLE MANAGERS

Introduction
Power is a difficult concept for many individuals in western democratic ... Show more content on

Power is not without its temptations. At one time or another many of us have harbored a secret fantasy
to club that lethargic laggard between the eyes so he will understand what needs to get done. Some
upper level managers with a reservoir of power could actually do so. History and literature, including
management literature, are replete with notorious examples of power abuse and the disasters that
emanated from them. If managers lack this historical perspective, or an engrained sense of ethics, they
must hope that at least the rudder of their own temperament will guide them successfully. Without any
of these supports, a myopic mindset may impel them to use their power in destructive ways,
eventually dissipating it.
Other top level managers can shoulder burdens and deliver results in more subtle fashion. They have
learned that power abuse can curtail effectiveness. They know the downside risks of unilateral
imposition and have acquired the expertise, experience and empathy to avoid these pitfalls.
Experience can instill appreciation for unintended consequences, and training can imbue ethical
precepts. Many scholars attribute the long term durability of organizations, and even whole societies,
to successful managerial preparation for power deployment. When they wield power well, users of
power usually garner the nimbus of leadership.

Attending High School Narrative
My visions of attending law school were soon shattered due to the simple fact of money and time.
Although arguing is a guilty pleasure of mine I was more interested in the fashion, envisioning playing
dress up with famous designers. While my time spent in the apparel industry was vast and
knowledgeable I yearned for something more. Having the ability to reflect on my ten year experience
gave me the insight to conclude that a career was more important than just having a job. As luck
would have it my department was unable to renew a lease therefore terminating my position. Yes,
many would have had an emotional breakdown, but I took this heartache as a blessing. I got back on
that wagon, left my one month old daughter with a sitter and attended

Essay on Costing Procedure of Flooring Contrator
You can t take it anymore. If you have to look at those scratches in the living room floor, the foot
traffic stains down the hallway, the Kool aid stains under the dining room table, or the chipped tile in
the kitchen one more time, you might go off the edge and wind up in the looney bin. You are tired of
going to a friend s home and secretly envying their perfect looking floors. Gone are the days of
flipping through magazines and drooling over the pictures of nicely decorated rooms with flooring
that looks amazing. So you ask your friend what company did their floor and how much it cost, not to
be nosey, but to get an idea. After perusing the flooring aisle of your local home improvement store
and deciding on the type you want to use, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Labor per square foot is the given rate per square foot of floor area. Initial Preparatory Work involves
all actions required to be completed before the contractor can begin working on the floor. There are
three parts to this section. Initially, all the furniture and fixtures (toilet, sinks not attached to walls)
need to be removed. Depending on the quantity/size of furniture/fixtures that need to be removed,
contractors will typically charge between $15 and $50 per hour. Customers can cut out this cost if they
agree to have the items removed prior to the contractor arriving. However, if it is agreed upon and the
items are not removed, the contractor will usually charge 150% of the normal rate, because this will
add additional time to the job, causing him to possibly run behind schedule for another job, and he
schedules jobs based on time estimates. The next part is the removal and disposal of the existing floor.
The price for this can range from $25 to $75 per hour, based on the type of flooring being removed.
Carpet and vinyl are easy to remove, thus would be on the low end. Tile is more difficult because
mortar is used to install it and all of that has to be broken up and removed. Again, the customer can
save during this phase if they do the removal themselves, with the same penalty if not removed prior
to the contractor arrival. The final part of this phase is repairing the subfloor. Costs for this repair vary
greatly on what needs to be repaired, and are usually

The central point of this article is to discuss the relationships between the colonizers and colonized in
culture and imperialism. Because the links between these two things (culture and imperialism) raise
important questions about how, power and knowledge works in colonial societies. In some ways this
article even looks into race relations and why they are the way they are today. Arguing that, British
indirect rule effectively resulted in racial segregation (Bush 225). We can see that racism can be linked
to a cultural problem that still effects the race relations that we have today. The study of the
indifference the British and French had when they colonized can be used to explain many aspects of
racial relations and I am sure many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This example definitely is applicable to the colonization of Hong Kong. Hong Kong was colonized
after the Opium War era and soon grew to become a huge center for commerce and a key connection
point from the east to the west. This idea is exemplified by Hong Kong because the area was lacking
in economic and technology before the British came along. However I wish the author would have
given an example of the statement that: cultural power may be defined as the will to dominate and not
be dominated, to impose change whilst remaining unchanged. Because from my observations of Hong
Kong perhaps each culture wanted to impose their ideas onto one another but what actually happened
was a nice combination of both Chinese culture and British culture effecting one another to create
something new. Like many places in Asia there is a large American/English influence but in Hong
Kong it is definitely greater because of the fact that English is commonly spoken there. The author s
argument is strong however I felt it necessary to provide my own examples because Bush lacks those
cohesive examples to make her points stronger and better supported. I do not see any problems with
her argument however it would have been nice if it provided greater historical context. Even though it
would have made this piece a lot longer it would have been nice for her to go into those details so that
the reader could understand exactly what she meant about the examples she

Dissociative Identity Disorder In Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
Dissociative Identity Disorder in Robert Louis Stevenson s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde This article was written by Rokeya Sarker Rita about the best selling novel, Dr. Jekyll and Mr.
Hyde. The earliest case of DID came about in the nineteenth century in Europe and was dealt with by
Pierre Janet, a philosopher and psychologist. Around that time, the information on DID was practically
nonexistent so Rita wanted to see how accurate the depiction of DID was in the novel. She uses
research from back then, research from this time and references from the novel to help find answers.
Unbeknownst to a majority of the population, Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde, used to experience psychotic breaks. He often spoke of be aware of his two differing
personalities. He spoke of myself which was his true self, his rational side, his normal side. He also
spoke of his other side, the other fellow , who was his dark side yet very creative, difficult, and
seething. Stevenson actually enjoyed his split personalities and drew inspiration from it for his novel.
He fond it interesting that he had simultaneous yet slightly conflicting states of mind going on. These
psychiatric problems perhaps stemmed from his parents who were aggressive hypochondriacs. In the
case of Dr. Jekyll in the story, his DID stems from being part of a Victorian society. This society
emphasized social value ad reputation so Dr. Jekyll felt pressurized to maintain his

when the fixed costs remain unchanged. A rise in the sales level increases the net income and a fall in
the sales level reduces the net income. Additionally, an increases in the fixed costs reduces the net

Pride And Prejudice Gender Expectations
The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts a social structure in which there are clear gender
expectations. These gender expectations control and restrict the lives of both genders, most notably
women. In. Austen s world, women have few opportunities to support themselves, and have high
expectations attributed to them. Men were held to similar standards. Upper and middle class men were
expected to add to their families wealth, be charming, and eventually marry. Deviation from these
spoken and unspoken rules, such as Lydia and Wickham s elopement, would result in becoming a
social pariah. In Pride and Prejudice , the characters of Elizabeth Bennet, her sister Lydia, and Mr.
Darcy challenge the aforementioned gender roles put in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Elizabeth s active nature and her refusal to be passive, You give your opinion very
decidedly for a woman of your age (Austen 159), overshadow the traditional qualities she possesses.
Her personality makes her very disagreeable to Lady Catherine and Mr. Bingley s sisters. When Jane
falls ill, Elizabeth walks miles through the mud to visit Netherfield. Upon arriving, Elizabeth shocks
the Bingley sisters, I shall never forget her appearance this morning. She looked almost wild. (Austen
35). Lady Catherine also plays a role in contrasting Elizabeth with more traditional women of the
time. The confrontation between the two at Longbourn shows Elizabeth s willingness to stand up for
herself against people of higher social standing, `I have said no such thing. I am only resolved to act in
that manner, which will, in my own opinion, constitute my happiness, without reference to you, or to
any person so wholly unconnected with me. (Austen 332). Austen s use of a limited social structure
highlights the clear message about the expectations of women in Regency England and Elizabeth s

Teenagers Communication With Their Partners On Issues Of...
CHAPTER 2. LITERATURE REVIEW Teenagers communication with their partners on issues of sex
and their use of condoms is greatly influenced by the discussions teenagers have with their parents on
issues related to sex. However in this discussion, little is known about the process of parent teenager
communication with regards to the topic under discussion. Understanding what parents discuss with
their children and how they discuss it may lead to a greater understanding of teenagers sexual
behaviours. A literature review of researches done in the previous studies has been done, in order to
help to identify the gaps in literature so that further researches in this area can be done. Theorectical
Framework The approach that is going to be used in this study,is that of the social cognitive theory
(SCT) developed by Bandura (1997). According to this theory, human behaviour is a result of the
interaction of personal factors, the environment and the behaviour itself (Bandura, 1997). The social
cognitive theory clearly explains how people acquire and maintain certain behavioural patterns whilst
at the same time, providing the basis for intervention strategies (Bandura, 1997). From the various
behavioural factors that influence behaviour, Bandura (1986) identified self efficacy and outcome
expectations as the most salient factors. Self efficacy refers to the ability and confidence in performing
a particular behaviour or it can be looked as an individual s judgment of his or her

Improving Vehicular Network And Road Safety Essay
Abstract Although the spread in Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) research, eventual high end
vehicles are conventional to under utilize the on Board computation, communication, and Storage
resources. So, there is need to move from conventional VANET to Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC)
by combining VANET with cloud computing. Also, VANETs use an open medium for communication
and consequently are exposed to security threats that impact their Reliability. We address some major
design concern that will affect the future performance of VCC and provide a set of security and
privacy protecting protocols. We address relatively unique security challenges resulted by features of
VCC e.g. The challenges of authentication of high mobility vehicles and the complexity of trust
relationships among multi players caused by intermittent short range communication. We propose data
trust security model designed for VANETs based on social network theories. Our intention is to help
readers better understand the fundamental vehicular cloud computing mechanisms and mark out the
potential applications for improving vehicular network and road safety. We present a extensive
taxonomy of vehicular networking and analysis between MCC and VCC. In addition, we explain the
VCC architecture, and the extensive application scenario. Each vehicle in VCC can connect to the
other vehicles or the network infrastructures by using the vehicle to vehicle or the vehicle to
infrastructure network communication. We

Gestalt Theory
What is Gestalt Counseling?
You may want to know something more about the gestalt approach to counselling before deciding to
see a gestalt counsellor. Or you may just be interested in different approaches to counselling. On this
page I have attempted to set out some of the basic ideas of the gestalt approach. Some of the ideas are
complex and open to different interpretations, so this can be little more than an introduction. I have
also included links to other sites and articles, as well as some suggested reading.
The Gestalt Concept of Self
We all talk about ourselves in the first person I did this , my book , I felt happy etc., but what do we
mean when we use the words I or me , what is this thing we call self? ... Show more content on

For this reason the aim of gestalt counselling is to help the client gain self awareness.
Self awareness is also the aim of many spiritual paths and there are some similarities between
Buddhism and gestalt theory. In the therapy room the counsellor will help the client to gain awareness
through asking questions and making appropriate challenges. As individuals we can help to develop
our self awareness through self questioning (note this does not mean self criticism) and through
meditation. Meditation is a helpful technique for many of those suffering from emotional and
psychological problems, as well as those looking for personal and spiritual development.
The Here and Now
Gestalt therapy focuses on what is going on in the here and now, i.e. in the therapy room, rather than
what may have happened in the past. We are not influenced by the past as such, but by our memory of
the past, by the behaviours that we learnt in the past. All the information that a client needs to develop
self awareness is available in the here and now. A gestalt therapist will look at what is actually there
the client s body language, tone of voice, what is not being said as well as what is being said etc.,
rather than what they think should be there. This is often referred to as the Phenomenological
approach. The therapist will try to put their own prejudices to one side and experience the world
through the client s eyes. A gestalt therapist may note

The Superformation Of Female Superheroes In The Wonder Woman DC comics, illustrated the comic book, Wonder Woman, that strive for female superheroes to be envisioned with great empowering messages for the other females who enjoy reading comics. The female superhero, Wonder Woman, is given empowering qualities such as leadership and devotion. Although, Wonder Woman is given these empowering qualities, the comic book artists clothed this female character with clothing that sexualizes them greatly because of the amount of skin that is being revealed. The suits that these female superheroes are shown to be wearing stimulates this sensual excitement to the male audience which erupts these superheroes to receive a greater amount of attention than those female superheroes who do not necessarily reveal as much skin. Similar to the group of girls described in Rat Queens, the female superhero, Wonder Woman, contributes to the way these adolescent girls are being judged for the appearance they should resemble. According to An Analysis of Embodiment Among Six Superheroes in DC Comics , the author, Edward Avery Natale, has incorporated astonishing research on the presentation of female superheroes in comic books. Avery Natale stated that Lips, facial expressions, and hairstyles were also coded using the guide s discussion on how to make women appear sultry ... Community Oriented Policing Community Oriented Policing In spite of the fact that the United States still exceeds many other industrialized nations in overall crime and violent crime, it has been effective in decreasing its crime rate, particularly during the 1990s. While some coalitions have attributed this positive development to changes in socio demographic trends and rigid enforcement approaches, one coalition highlights the success of the community oriented policing and problem oriented policing in eradicating the root causes of crime (Stephens, 2003). While I don t believe that community oriented policing in the sole cause of decreased crime rates I do believe that it has its positive and negative sides. The problem with this model is that it is difficult for police departments to dedicate officer to public relations while there are serious crimes that need to be prevented. The idea of the public reporting crimes to the police in a community meeting is acceptable but in many cases especially with the current economic crisis that we are facing, it is impossible for police departments to have officers strictly assigned to community police. As discussed earlier without full cooperation from both sides the practice of community police is ineffective. The community policing plan created by the City of Aberdeen in Maryland provides a good example of how the partnership between the police and members of the community can be effective for dealing with crimes. In order to promote the police and community s adoption of these new roles, the Mid Atlantic Regional Community Policing Institute (MARCPI), along with the Johns Hopkins University, will offer training to the police and the community. Both the police and the community have to learn how to change their thinking processes in order to deal with the problems in a proactive way, instead of the conventional reactive fashion. Through the training sessions, the members of the community, the police officers and city department heads will acquire the skills and knowledge for addressing problems. The DSM IV lists the symptoms as weakness, seizures, or abnormal movements that are not attributable to a general medical condition or to feigning and that are judged to be associated with psychological factors. Hypochondriasis is defined as an overwhelming fear that you have a serious disease, even though health care providers can find no evidence of illness (University of Maryland Medical Center). Although it is widely believed to be a stable and chronic condition with a low remission rate, studies show that patients exhibit significant declines in symptoms yet continue to meet the DSM s diagnostic criteria over an extended time period. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new DSM V term focuses on basing diagnosis on positive symptoms, rather than the absence of a medical explanation of somatic symptoms. While DSM IV was organized centrally around the concept of medically unexplained symptoms, DSM 5 criteria instead emphasize the degree to which a patient s thoughts, feelings and behaviors about their somatic symptoms are disproportionate or excessive (American Psychological Association). The DSM V now defines conversion disorder as functional neurological symptom disorder due to overlapping symptoms and lack of medical evidence. Another key change in the DSM V criteria is that while medically unexplained symptoms were a key feature for many of the disorders in DSM IV, a somatic symptom disorder diagnosis does not require that the symptoms are medically unexplained. The criteria for conversion disorder has been modified to underscore the the essential importance of the neurological examination and in recognition that relevant psychological factors may not be demonstrable at the time of ... Therefore, many weather derivative contracts are based on temperature, rainfall, and snowfall. Demand for sophisticated and flexible OTC products involving these three variables are growing far more quickly than standardized, exchange traded contracts. And there are new ideas and experimental weather derivatives buzzing about the markets, including contracts based on sunshine and even wind patterns. Although today energy companies are the biggest users of these trades, there is growing awareness and signs of potential growth in the trading of weather futures among agricultural firms, renewables, mining, retail, construction companies, restaurants, and even companies involved in tourism and travel, like hotels and airlines. It acted as a safe haven for them to gather and celebrate, drink, and talk. Scops would assemble a group of men and women to apprise them of epic tales. The queen, Wealhtheow, bestows Beowulf with the golden cup along with a gold necklace and armband. During the feast, Hrothgar gives his warriors gold treasures from his treasure chest as an act of gratitude. In their culture, gold represents honor and most would do anything for it. Gold is represented and displayed in Beowulf on the skin of Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the dragon. It is also incorporated in the treasures. The dragon guards it his entire life, and it is the mission of many, including Beowulf to slay the dragon to get the treasures he is protecting. The moments before Beowulf dies, he asks Wiglaf to get him some of the dragon s gold so that his last sight could be what he was fighting for. Treasures were also placed on Beowulf s funeral pyre. Grendel s arm and the sword was another treasure that Beowulf earned. Because Beowulf killed Grendel by ripping off his arm, Beowulf hung the arm to show and display in Heorot Hall; the sword was his weapon that he took to try to defeat Grendel s mother. • 15. Physics of Firearms Essay Shooting is a popular activity and it is enjoyed by many people, so much so that it is also done at a competitive level. Although many people may have shot a firearm of some sort, few of those people actually realize how much physics is involved with the shot. So what exactly is Ballistics? Ballistics is the science or study of the motion of projectiles and in the case of most firearms, these projectiles are the bullets. There are two things that affect the flight of a bullet once it has been shot out of the gun. These things are the drag of air on the bullet and the force of gravity acting upon the bullet. The force of gravity acting upon the bullet is always in a constant direction, which is down, at a rate of 9.81m/s^2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sectional density, in metric units, is calculated by multiplying the bullet weight in grams by 1.422, then dividing this by the caliber, in millimeters, squared. So what affect does sectional density have on the bullets trajectory? Sectional density is the number that states the bullets ability to retain it s velocity. In other words, the higher the sectional density value is, the flatter the trajectory of the bullet will be. After the sectional density, next there is the shape of the bullet that affects its trajectory. The number that is related to the shape of the bullets is called the Ballistic Coefficient (BC). So how does the ballistic coefficient affect the bullet s trajectory? The BC is the ability for the bullet to go through the air or it s air resistance. The higher the BC, the easier it is for the bullet to travel through the air. If one bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .273, and another bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .623, this difference in the two BC values is due to the shape of the bullet. The rounded tip of the one bullet has a harder time moving through the air than the other sharply tipped bullet. So what other physics are involved in shooting a firearm? Energy! When a bullet is fired, it has a huge amount of kinetic energy. This can be calculated using the formula F=MA. Moreover, the case study said that it may be a good five years before strategy can be assessed properly (Waddell Waddell, Cummings Worley 2014). On the other hand, Lewin s change model or action research model is not suitable for David Jones case because of focusing on more problems in the organisation than concentrating on retail environmental changes. The result of implementation of Lewin s change model or action research model would be led to the strategic failure. The possibility of positive model of planned change for David Jones makes it necessary for the company to use positive model. 3. Some say the chicken came first, some say the egg came first, and others have no idea. In our opinion, the egg came before the chicken no matter how you look at it. Rather, you are religious, or you believe in science, the egg came before the chicken. In this research paper Mike and I will be explaining how we think the egg came before the chicken from a religious point of view and a scientific point of view. First, we will be explaining how the egg came before the chicken from a religious point of view. Genesis 1:24 said And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. This bible quote says how God created land animals, but it does not say they magically appeared on earth. Over time, due to genetic mutation a chicken was hatched from a chicken egg. My explanation is biblical as well as scientific. Neither Victims Or Executioners, By Albert Camus Neither Victims nor Executioners A Meditation on Camus In such as world of conflict, a world of victims and executioners, it is the job of thinking people, not to be on the side of the executioners. Several collections of quotation on the web attribute the one cited above to the French writer and existentialist, Albert Camus. It s a powerful quote that arrests the imagination of the perceptive reader; a reader who has followed with shock and revulsion the chronicles of mindless assassins who have roamed the earth these passed forty years to harvest the fruit of massacre. Though the quote is striking, Camus did not write it. It comes from A People s History of the United States, written by the historian and playwright, Howard Zinn. Doubtless, this was Zinn s summary of Camus concluding words from an article entitled, Toward Dialogue: Neither Victims nor Executioners. It appeared as the last of eight chapters in a collection of his essays, published as Camus at Combat: Articles and Editorials (1944 1947). Some of his moral views, I believe, made even Camus uncomfortable. In 1942, he wrote The Stranger, a story of death, revenge, and murder, told blandly by one who awaited a prison execution. Critics note the moral and emotional indifference in that story, a coldness that seems to conflict with Camus 1947 novel, The Plague. That tale depicts how different inhabitants of a city manage the realities of a deadly pestilence, as each personally experiences the very real threat of death. Are the two stories in conflict? Camus would reject the claim, saying that both novels are simply case studies in the absurd. Confucius answers to his student about how to be an upright man and respect the elders. As Confucius said: a son should resume his reverential attitude but not abandon his purpose . If a father does something wrong, the responsibility of a son is to respectfully give pieces of advice no matter what. Clustering methods, edge based methods, histogram based methods, and region growing methods offer different advantages and disadvantages. The use of a Gaussian mixture expectation maximization (EM) method has been investigated to realize segmentation specifically for x ray luggage scans [131]. Namely, k Gaussian distributions are added to best fit the image histogram, with each Gaussian distribution corresponding to its own object class. In an x ray image, high density objects absorb more x ray photons and appear more intensely than low density objects. In a typical x ray luggage scan image, there will generally be a mix of low density, medium density, and high density objects. There are three parts to this section. Initially, all the furniture and fixtures (toilet, sinks not attached to walls) need to be removed. Depending on the quantity/size of furniture/fixtures that need to be removed, contractors will typically charge between $15 and $50 per hour. Customers can cut out this cost if they agree to have the items removed prior to the contractor arriving. However, if it is agreed upon and the items are not removed, the contractor will usually charge 150% of the normal rate, because this will add additional time to the job, causing him to possibly run behind schedule for another job, and he schedules jobs based on time estimates. The next part is the removal and disposal of the existing floor. The price for this can range from $25 to $75 per hour, based on the type of flooring being removed. Carpet and vinyl are easy to remove, thus would be on the low end. Tile is more difficult because mortar is used to install it and all of that has to be broken up and removed. As individuals we can help to develop our self awareness through self questioning (note this does not mean self criticism) and through meditation. Meditation is a helpful technique for many of those suffering from emotional and psychological problems, as well as those looking for personal and spiritual development. The Here and Now Gestalt therapy focuses on what is going on in the here and now, i.e. in the therapy room, rather than what may have happened in the past.
