Timothy Mcveigh Threats To Aviation
Improvised devices have many shapes and many components. They are a primary threat to aviation
today and seem to be the alpha target of Al Qaeda. April 19, 1995. Timothy McVeigh blew up the
Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma killing 168 people. McVeigh remains one of the most
violent terrorists in the course of history. Domestic extremist are the most violent and unpredictable
threats in modern history. 1990s. Unabomber Ted Kaczynski delivered his first bomb in 1978 at a
Chicago University. He continued his random bombings for 17 years. In 1998 he was sentenced to life

Did Jesus Deserve To Die Essay
Jesus was the man who claimed to be the Son of God. He lived a long, long time ago. Many scholars
say that Jesus was born around the time zero. It is believed that the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus
through the Holy Spirit. Nobody knows exactly what Jesus looked like because there was no pictorial
evidence from his time to show what he looked like. In lots of present time pictures of Jesus, he has
long brown hair with brown eyes and a tanned skin. In my eyes Jesus had hazelnut brown hair with
the blue eyes. He also may have had a tanned skin because he lived in Israel which is a very hot
country though when he went to heaven my view changes a bit. I think when Jesus went to heaven he
had a pale skin colour like God and that it wasn t just lights shining on him. He may have looked like
an ordinary man but he turned the impossible possible. When he was alive he did many great things
but many people didn t like this. My question is did Jesus deserve to die?
Jesus did many great miracles but not everyone accepted what he did. The reason why Jesus
performed miracles was because he needed prove that he could heal the sick and why people should
follow him.
One of his miracles was the healing of the paralysed man. I chose this miracle because it s significance
was that Jesus had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I strongly believe that Jesus didn t deserve to die because he was merciful and loving to sinners. He
gave the sick hope and taught people great things like making mistakes isn t bad because you just need
to ask for forgiveness and then learn from it. So why kill someone who is trying to help you through
God? Many people didn t like him because he performed things that were impossible. For example; he
heals the paralysed man, which no one can do. He wasn t doing this to show off, it was to show that
God was working through Jesus to help them. The only reason why they killed Jesus was because they

Essay on Origins of the Watch making Industry
Origins of the Watch making Industry
The production of watches was a major industry of Great Britain for hundreds of years. Watch making
originated in Europe in the early 16th century, when coiled springs were first used to power clocks.
Clocks were powered by weights originally, and therefore remained stationary.
The springs meant that clocks could be moved for the first time, and soon, German clockmakers
started to make very small clocks, which are considered as the earliest watches made. Watch making
was the most advanced line of the clock making industry, which developed when
Blacksmiths started introducing their skills with metal to clock making. Watches were being made in
Great Britain from around the middle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prescot made rough watch movements and it is often mistaken that
Prescot made the actual watches. This means that it was just the actual working parts of the watch that
were roughly finished and assembled, the movements would then be shipped to finishers all over the
country, and overseas, where they would be taken apart again, finished and put into cases, usually
made of precious metals such as gold and silver.
The nature of the industry
Watch making was an example of what is known as a cottage industry .
Cottage industries were a tradition of Lancashire, and included any type of manual work where goods
were produced at home. The goods produced by a cottage industry were often on a piecework basis.
That is when the goods are made to order when required. An order would be placed with the producer
for a certain number of items, as and when required. All those involved in the watch making industry
could earn a good wage doing this king of work properly and on time. Each craftsman would have one
specialty in particular, spring making, watch hand making and so on. The various parts would come
from each workshop and then these would be sent to an assembly workshop, where the rough watch
movement would be constructed from all of the parts. These would then be sent to be finished (that is
polished and made ready to be fitted into a case). Twenty individual branches of watch making were
open during the mid Victorian

Constraint Induced Aphasia
After the first year of aphasia resulting from stroke, researchers believe that spontaneous recovery
even with intensive therapies will be unlikely. There are few studies which have documented the
results of post stroke language functions after 12 months. Traditional language therapies also focus on
utilizing compensatory communication strategies with a focus on immediate communication needs for
each patient. Initial strategies used included gesturing, drawing, writing, and AAC systems with the
expectation that these assistive modalities will be decreased as verbal language function improves.
Scientists have begun to question if using these types of techniques could contribute to a learned non
use phenomenon. Thus, this study purposes to discover if restraining non verbal communication in
aphasia patients can result in better verbal language outcomes in the future.
Constraint induced aphasia therapy (CIAT) focuses on using intensive verbal practice with clinician
guided verbal cuing without the use of other compensatory strategies (ex: naming). Although there are
concerns that limiting communication compensatory strategies could create frustration with speaking,
it is theorized that a supportive environment and better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Stress And Mental State Attached With Physical Symptoms
Stress is a big factor in my life right now. To me stress is a heightening mental state attached with
physical symptoms when faced with a challenge. These challenges are known as stressors disturbing
homeostasis thus producing stress. I have more psychosocial stressors in my life. Learning about
stress I found that my performance connection is all over the place. First, I am not getting adequate
sleep that causes my alertness to diminish as well as my optimal performance at work. This in turn
gives me anxiety and turns into disorganization with school and other areas of my life. It was
mentioned that the internal struggle we face while our body returns to homeostasis is known as the
general adaption syndrome. It involves the alarm, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t feel in control of stressful situations and this affects both my physiological and psychological
responses to stress. How to manage stress seems hard for me. I am determined to use more of the time
management and relaxation techniques. I will also utilize the idea of downshifting; this to me is a
great plan. It will affect my life in a way that will help me feel more in control and to build up my self
esteem and self efficacy. Another topic that relates well to the one I previously mentioned is exercise
and fitness. Exercise is a struggle for me because I simply do not have the time. There are many
positive outcomes to exercising that I would love to acquire. As I learned of all the different diseases
that come to those who don t participate in regular exercise it scares me. By having the fact that I have
family members who have diabetes, it became clear to me that I am at risk for being diagnosed with it
as well. Taking the necessary steps in making exercise a daily routine like it should be will make my
life so much better. It was interesting to learn the different components of physical fitness. I have only
really been concerned about cardio until I learned the other important attributes. By learning these
others it has affected the way I see fitness. I now know that by engaging in them all I will not only feel
better but it will give me the extra energy to deal with my daily obligations. As I created an exercise

Blower Motor Problems On Gm Vehicles
Blower Motor Problems on GM Vehicles
Back in the 70s and 80s blower motor problems on General Motors Corp. vehicles were almost
unheard of. However, they did require a lot of electrical energy.
In an effort to increase the efficiency of the climate control systems General Motors has experimented
with some cutting edge technologies. Unfortunately, the fallout has been a large amount of vehicles
with common blower motor problems. I guess I m saying these systems didn t age well.
Here I ll cover four specific issues that are extremely common on cars and trucks from Chevrolet,
Pontiac, Saturn, GMC and Buick automobiles. Keep in mind for Chrysler owners I have a specific

You can jump 12 V to the positive side of the motor and it should run. I recommend that you leave it
fully installed when you run this test because the spinning squirrel cage can cause injury. If the blower
motor works it s time to check some voltages at the module.
There s a power wire that comes from the control panel. On most models it s either red or purple. This
power in wire should turn on a test light with the ignition on and maximum speed selected. The black
wire should indicate a strong ground. If you have a good ground and verified power into the module,
yet have no electricity flowing to the blower motor you probably have a bad module.
In many cases when I find the problem with the GM blower motor module I also find signs of
moisture in the heater case that contains the motor and module. If the AC condensation drain becomes
blocked you ll wind up with water flowing into the HVAC case. The blower motor module is close to
being the low point and will wind up sitting in a bath of water.
If you wind up replacing this part go the extra step and make sure that the condensation drain is clear
on your AC evaporator. Also make sure your old blower motor spins freely and isn t starting to bind. I
have some final thoughts on the blower motor module failure situation. In an effort to streamline the
manufacturing process and keep costs down these parts are in a tremendous amount

Ischemic Stroke Effect
Effects of Ischemic Stroke
When a brain artery is blocked, an ischemic stroke occurs and electrical activity is compromised. The
areas of injury in the brain are the core ischemic zone (the main area that blood flow is at its lowest)
and the ischemic penumbra (surrounding area). Neurons carry necessary oxygen and glucose to the
brain. When the brain is deprived of oxygen and glucose, brain cells, glial cells, and vascular cells are
affected depending on the amount of blood supply and duration of blocked blood supply to the area.
Cells in the penumbra have a chance of restoration if blood flow from surrounding arteries
compensate. For areas absent of blood flow, hypoxic injury occurs and cells go through necrosis while
surviving cells may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Metabolic demand on the body after a stroke can be increased, swallowing can be compromised,
interfering with nutrition. Wound healing can be impaired due to results of stroke such as mobility,
pain, sensory deficits, and changes in cognition. Basically, optimal healing may require assistance to
ensure cellular function maintains the nutrition and vascularity aspects needed to function adequately.
Ischemic stroke does not require genetic testing unless a genetic disease that affects clot formation and
coagulation is present such as polycythemia (Porth, 2011). Education and prevention regarding diet,
smoking, controlling hypertension, and other high risk habits is very important to prevent strokes or
the recurrence of strokes.
Body functions affected with an ischemic stroke are dependent on the brain artery of the vascular
deprivation and the area injured in the brain. The amount of blood flow and length of time determine
how much damage occurs. By understanding neural and vascular pathways as well as reactive healing
can help healthcare workers be prepared for expectations, limitations, and treatments for damage

Introduction
Affordable housing is slowly becoming not that affordable for the poor in Australia over the last
decade, and the price is keep raising. It became a significant concern among a lot of Australians. This
essay is aimed to find possible methods to reduce the accommodation economic pressure for
Australians in need. All of the ideas have been discussed here are based on two economists Alfred
Marshall and Henry George s point of view. Marshall s Partial equilibrium theory and George s shared
land notion will be focused. This essay will introduce the background of affordable housing problem
in Australia in the first sector; explain why initial cost, market supply and demand, and inequality
income distribution will affect affordable housing price secondly; then rental affordability and the
feasibility of make land common property will be analyzed; after that, two economists attitudes of
government intervention will be discussed, and two possible policies will be addressed separately at
the end of sector two and three. At the last part of this essay, the difference and similarities between
Marshall and George s ideas will also be compared and concluded.
Background Affordable housing means frugal accommodations that satisfied secure, safe, affordable
and basic living standard conditions; this kind of house are mainly for the low or middle class

of the country there were numerous cases against drug dealers, buyers and many more. These cases
did always catch the attention of civil people who by showing interest in such cases revealed their

Summarizing the main point in the opinion of the case it is necessary to start from its very beginning.
The case was argued on the 28th of March 2001 and the decision was delivered on the 14th of May
2001. It was argued intensively and both of the sides were acted rather confident. The Oakland
Cannabis Buyers Cooperative with Jeffrey Jones as a head started its life according to California s
Compassionate Use Act of 1996 and was started to follow medical purposes of distributing marijuana
to people that in accordance with their state of health qualify for it as a treatment. This organization
spent two years distributing marijuana to qualified patients until the year of 1998, when it was sued by
USA. The main point of the argument was that USA s government charge of Oakland Cannabis
Buyers Cooperative breach of the Controlled Substances Act s and mainly its embargo for distributing,
manufacturing, and possessing of the substance, as far as marijuana is listed in the Controlled
Substances Act. The activity of the Cooperative continued in spite of the District s Court decision and
its activity was very intense. The key issue presented by the Cooperative was its medical necessity
defense, other words they stated that all the marijuana that was distributed by means of their
organization was only distributed according to the medical necessity of this substance by qualified
patients. As it has been already mentioned the District Court

Hybrid Types Of Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Full Hybrid Transmission System 1 FULL HYBRID DESCRIPTION Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV)
differentiates from basic electric vehicles (EV) through their use of two power sources. The purpose of
having two power sources is to utilize the properties of both the electric component and combustion
engine to create a vehicle that s more efficient and less environmentally damaging. Different types of
hybrid systems utilise different properties of the power sources through compromise, allowing better
performance for the vehicles specifications. Full Hybrids, considered the most fuel efficient, can
automatically swap between series, parallel and full electric modes (further explained below) allowing
the vehicle to run at full utilization and economy through different uses, such as in traffic, highway
driving and racing. Examples of full hybrid vehicles include that of the Toyota Prius and many of
Toyota s Synergy Drive Hybrid range. Series powertrains refer to using an electric motor to rotate the
wheels, whilst the alternate power source drives an on board generator which essentially increases the
reliability of the electric motor without directly powering the wheels. Unlike series mode, in parallel
mode both power sources are used to provide power to the wheels. This can be configured in a wide
variety of ways by alternating the use of full electric or full combustions, or having different wheels
powered by different sources, i.e. front wheels electric drive and back wheels

Oedipus, A Tragic Hero
Oedipus, a Tragic Hero
Bob Livingston
Liberty University Sophocles presented the world with Oedipus around 2500 years ago. Never the
less, the story remains among the most riveting of all time. He was, in fact, a man that was driven by a
very high internal moral standard. It was that internal moral standard that ultimately entwined him in a
sequence of events and circumstances that placed him in the spousal relationship with his mother.
Oedipus, in fact, can truly be regarded as a tragic hero as Aristotle himself defined the term.
Considering Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero, it can be found that Oedipus fits the character
description flawlessly through various traits that he displays and the foundation of his tragic fall:
Just as tragic heroes and heroines have been identified with different eras and cultures, the classical
ideal of the tragic hero will be incomplete if the concept of tragedy is not focalized. This paper,
therefore, looks at how the classical period defined and delineated its tragic hero based on the action
and the plot of the play. The paper provides extracts from Sophocles King Oedipus as the main text
and Euripides Iphigenia in Tauris as a supporting text to present Oedipus as the tragic hero. Textual
analysis shows that the delineation of the tragic hero lies in the source or context of the tragic
situation. Sophocles and Euripides views on the tragic hero are similar to Aristotle s concept of
hamartia of the classical period.

Conscription and Its Negative Effects in WWI
World War 1 is often known as the Great War by many people. Canada played a very big and
important role in this war, supplying Britain with many weapons, aids and nurses, foods and on top of
that, thousands of brave soldiers. When the war first started, many Canadian men were greatly excited
about the adventures that they will experience at war and the stories they will be able to tell when they
come home as heroic soldiers. This excitement led many men, even young boys to enlist and volunteer
for the war. However, when this war that was supposed to end in a couple of months, led to a year and
then another, the number of volunteering men started to decrease further and further. This rapid drop
of soldiers led Prime Minister Borden to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could have been one of the reasons why Canadian troops lost so many more soldiers towards the
end of the war than before. The Military Service Act created more than just terrible effects on families
and publics but it also created riots, violence and conflicts with the English and the French citizens.
When this act was first introduced, it gained very unpleasant feedbacks, this was such a controversial
issue that as it became more and more serious, it led Canada to split into two. Canada became a
divided nation with English on one side and French on the other. The cause of this conflict was mainly
because of the conscription act, the English felt that it was beneficial for the war while the French
thought the exact opposite. English Canada was in favour of this forced military service because they
felt that more than enough English men went to war, while the French men contributed very little. On
the other hand, French Canada felt that there was no need to enlist in the war because they felt it was
not necessary to support a country that they did not have any patriotism or love for. In addition,
French men were needed at home to work on the farm. The typical opinion of the war and the
conscription crisis was described by a news article, Almost all French Canadians opposed
conscription: They felt that they had no particular loyalty to either Britain or France. They felt their
only loyalty was to Canada.(The New York

Life-Cycle Cost Analysis
Life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) is a method for assessing the total cost of facility ownership. It takes
into account all costs of acquiring, owning, and disposing of a building or building system. LCCA is
especially useful when project alternatives that fulfill the same performance requirements, but differ
with respect to initial costs and operating costs, have to be compared in order to select the one that
maximizes net savings. For example, LCCA will help determine whether the incorporation of a high
performance HVAC or glazing system, which may increase initial cost but result in dramatically
reduced operating and maintenance costs, is cost effective or not. LCCA is not useful for budget
allocation.
Lowest life cycle cost (LCC) is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
LCCA can be repeated throughout the design process if more detailed cost information becomes
available. Initially, construction costs are estimated by reference to historical data from similar
facilities. Alternately, they can be determined from government or private sector cost estimating
guides and databases. The Tri Services Parametric Estimating System (TPES) contained in the
National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Construction Criteria Base (CCB) developed models
of different facility types by determining the critical cost parameters (i.e., number of floors, area and
volume, perimeter length) and relating these values through algebraic formulas to predict costs of a
wide range of building systems, subsystems, and assemblies. The TPES models can be adapted to
facilities beyond those included in the base modeling system by using SuccessEstimator, a software
package available from U.S. Cost.
Detailed cost estimates are prepared at the submittal stages of design (typically at 30%, 60%, and
90%) based on quantity take off calculations. These estimates rely on cost databases such as the
Commercial Unit Price Book (C UPB) or the R. S. Means Building Construction Cost Database.
Testing organizations such as ASTM International and trade organizations have reference data for
materials and products they test or represent.

The Resurrection Research Paper
It s not enough that the tomb is empty. It s not enough to proclaim, Christ is risen! It s not enough to
believe in the resurrection. At some point we must move from the event of the resurrection to
experiencing the resurrection. Experiencing resurrected life begins with recognizing the risen Christ
among us. That is the gift of Easter and it is also the difficulty and challenge described in today s
gospel.
The Gospel authors (especially Luke and John) go to great lengths to show that there s something
different about the resurrected Christ. Something so different that Mary Magdalene doesn t recognize
Jesus, and in fact mistakes him for the gardener, on Easter morning. And then the disciples on the road
to Emmaus talk about Jesus all afternoon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Gospels don t tell us what exactly was different about Jesus. Just that he is unrecognizable. Until
Jesus calls Mary by name, or until he breaks bread with the disciples. Then they came to know that he
is Jesus.
Very quietly, gently, the evangelists communicate something very important to us: something happens
in the resurrection which makes Jesus new. They are coy about the details. But, we don t need the
details to know that something is going on here.
But, one of the other things that the Gospel authors are also clearly intent on showing us, is that it s
really Jesus who rose from the dead. It s not a ghost. Not a spirit. Not a vision. Not a hallucination.
You can t reach out and touch a hallucination. Visions don t eat broiled fish. That new reality begins

What Is The Theme Of Walking Ice By Ricardo De Ungria
From the famous quote of the known writer all over the world which states Who wants to become a

Beautiful and sad. A narrative from a father to a son. Initially I thought it was tragic and heartbreaking.
It is a true story and a real reflection on the default of being human. If for loss of compassion for this
side of humanity, I would say in an objective and extremely distant point of view that it is pathetic.
It is good that I am reading it in my 20s, being a daughter, single and childless.
I truly get the father s anguish and grief. The poems express oscillating feelings that explore the
dimensions of extent of strong human emotion. At the same time I understand the son s rebelliousness
to a parent who insists that he (the father) listens yet strongly occurs as imposing. Unfortunately, the
love desperately being communicated does not go across. The story revolved in the father s thoughts,
dreams and memories without an actual dialogue: an attempt to truly listen and get his son.
The father s hopes to someday laugh at these poems with his son is a very real illusion that humans
live in by default. Hopes and wishes become so real a reality in the fantasy world of our minds that
who we become and act according to what is taking place is regrettably misaligned to the future that
we say we want to

Variables Of The Working Capital Requirements Essay
Dependent variables
1 working capital requirement ( WCR )
The study observes the determinants of the working capital requirements of an enterprise. Working
Capital Requirements (WCR_TA) were included as a dependent variable, as used by Shulman and
Cox (1985), as a measure of working capital management (cash and equivalents + marketable
securities + inventories + accounts receivables) (accounts payables + other payables). Working capital
requirements are deflated by total assets to control the size effect
2 Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC)
Cash Conversion Cycle (CCC) as a measure of working capital management, where a shorter CCC
represents the aggressiveness of working capital management measured by the following Cash
Conversion Cycle = Inventory days + Accounts Receivables days Accounts Payable day
Independent Variable Measures:
1 Operating cash flows deflated by total assets (OCF_TA) the cash flows generated from the routine
operations of the enterprise and obtained directly from the cash flow statement as well as deflated by
total assets. The high value of this ratio shows that the enterprise main operation generating enough
cash this also decreasing operation risk.
2 Size
The Size ratios generally measure the enterprise dimensions about the age i.e. for how many years
enterprise start business also measuring enterprise size and annual growth this dimensions are very
important because it is affecting the decision related to policy of managing

Fatalism and Determinism
The way in which life is viewed can change the way in which one reacts to scenarios and interacts
with other beings. Although I do not think simply learning philosophy can change the way I live, I
know that learning and exploring deeper into specific philosophies can completely alter my outlook on
life. Life is a particular type or aspect of people s existence and all beings are living this life as far as
we know. The question I often find myself asking is whether or not we are the ones making our own
choices, living life as we so choose, with no free will at all (determinism), or with our fate set out for
us (fatalism). I would like to believe I am in charge of making my own choices and everything is
either luck of the draw or things come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the fact that the events that will take place in my life are destined to occur one way or another,
it makes me rethink certain aspects of my own life. My entire outlook on life has changed based on
this one theory. My belief in God which was previously nonexistent has grown immensely because of
philosophy thus changing my outlook on life even more. If one is a believer in an omniscient being,
God, that person is fatalist. Taylor explains, To say that God is omniscient means that He knows
everything that is true. He cannot, of course, know that which is false, (Taylor, 57). If God exists and
knows all, then if God were to tell someone how, when, where they were going to die his answer
would have to be true. Therefore if God knows all that has happened, whether it is as minor as an ant
being born or as major as the end of the world, God knows all that is involved. One cannot believe in
God and not believe in fate because He knows all that will come in the future and that is what fate is.
However, a determinist will not believe in God, because of this fact. A determinist sees all the causes
of what has happened as random, independent events that have causes and effects. In the story of
Osmo, although he knows what future holds he still cannot avoid it. This story does not prove the
theory of fate, however, it gives an example of how it is unavoidable. A determinist will believe this
story because he knows what fate has set

Nonmetal Silicon Essay
Nonmetal Silicon The second most abundant element on Earth is the nonmetal silicon, which makes
up about 28 percent of the Earth s crust. It occurs only in such combined forms as silica (silicon

sand and flint. Silicates are salts in which silica is combined with oxygen and other elements, such as
aluminum, magnesium, calcium, sodium, iron, and potassium.

Highly pure silicon is also used to make silicones, a group of synthetic resinlike materials (see

Silica aerogels are transparent, highly porous substances consisting of tiny spheres of bonded silicon
and oxygen atoms joined into long strands. The strands are separated by innumerable air spaces.
Although they are solids, aerogels have remarkably low densities, appearing almost like frozen wisps
of smoke. They are one of the lightest known solids. They also have the highest thermal resistance of
any solid ever tested and thus could have important applications as high efficiency insulators and
radiation detectors.

Was Captain Prestons Justified
On March 5, 1770 in Boston, the large mob of Bostonians tormented Captain Thomas Preston s
soldiers, who were watching the Customs House Building. One of the soldiers fired at the Bostonians,
which resulted in the rest of the soldiers firing at the Bostonians. Someone from the crowd screamed
for the soldiers to fire. This caused five of the Bostonians, including Crispus Attucks, who were shot
by Preston s men. Captain Preston s men were put on trial, and were charged with the murder of the
five Bostonians. Eventually, Preston was found innocent. The verdict of innocent in the trial of Preston
is justified because Preston tried to persuade his men to not engage in a fight with the Bostonians. His

the word fire...Captain might have given the word and I not distinguish it. There is not any concrete
evidence that proves that Preston is guilty because it is unclear if Preston truly did order his men to
fire. However, Preston s avoiding for violence and wanting for a peaceful approach is confirmed by
some witnesses like Theodore Bliss. Bliss declares that ...I did not hear any Order given by Capt. to

Theodore Bliss state this, but Edward Hill, Daniel Cornwall, Newton Prince, and James Goodwall
state similarly that they also saw that they did not see or did not believe that Preston ordered the men
to fire. This shows that Preston describes what he said and did at the Boston Massacre truthfully
because witnesses like Bliss have accounts of the Boston Massacre that are similar to that of Preston s.
This evidence helps support that Preston had taken a peaceful approach and is

Tom Brennan Speech Analysis
Transition involves personal beliefs and attitudes that promotes a mental, physical or emotional
development and progression over time. The exploration of transitions can provide opportunities for
an individual to emotionally reflect on their own personal experience; leading to the social awareness
of others in relation to the consequences encountered. This can result to uncertainties, forcing one to
go through numerous of obstacles in order to mature and grow to a new phase of life. This notion is
explored in the novel The Story of Tom Brennan by J.C. Burke, where the protagonist experience
varies emotions associated with the car accident, where he is pushed to his limit in attempt to cope
with the difficulties. The editorial article titled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept is demonstrated in Tom Brennan, through the anaphora Running towards the car.
Running into the headlights. Running into the silence of death... which suggests the destructive nature
of the unexpected consequence. The repetition of the phrase running illustrates the immediate shock
the protagonist had suffered by the accident, and also symbolic of running away from the problem.
This also highlights Tom s paranoia in the initial stages of the novel, allowing readers to have a clear
insight in the accident that occurred within Tom s family. It is clear that confronting experiences are
able to be a transformative experience for an individual, where they are force to mentally prepare for
the unexpected. This contradicts the quote, which is before Tom s transition, No pain, no bad thoughts.
Maybe I could just keep running , which uses repetition of no to reflect the denial of negativities in
life. He clearly states that what had kept him positive is running , revealing to the audience how his
past belief had changed prior to the accident. It is evidently shown that Tom s response mechanism left
him two alternatives: run or fight. However, in a time of confusion, Tom contemplates the choices he
has made in life: Part of me wanted to, the other part didn t... Yet a voice inside of me was screaming .
The use of metaphor of the screaming voices

One way to stop this from happening again was to unite the countries together economically and
eventually politically. In this way, each individual country was tied to one other. If one country wanted
to start a war it would affect every country in the union and cause collapse equally between the
aggressor and the aggressee. ( EU Matters.ie Information about Ireland s membership of the EU. n.d.)
The first step in the European Union was the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community
(ECSC) in 1950. The foreign minister of France at the time, Robert Schuman, believed that the heavy
industries of coal and steel in Europe should be united to secure a lasting peace. Initially, France and
Germany were the main countries involved with the European Coal and Steel Community, but
Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Luxembourg also joined. With these six countries intertwined in
the coal and steel industry one member country could not make weapons on their own for wars
without affecting the other member countries. (Editors of Encyclopedia Brittanica, n.d.,) Due to the
success of the European Coal and Steel Community, leaders in Europe commenced talks about
creating a unified economic landscape within the continent. Hence, the signing of the Treaty of Rome

Bringing Emotional Abuse To The Forefront. No Relationship
Bringing Emotional Abuse to the Forefront No relationship will ever be perfect, but that does not
mean you should settle for one that is toxic and degrading. However, according to National Domestic
Violence Hotline, 1 in 3 adolescents in the United States have experienced at least one type of abuse
from their romantic partner. Evidently, this shows that people still continue to engage in these
unhealthy relationships. Perhaps what is even further alarming is that the majority of the abused
refrain from reporting it, often suffering long term effects from this abuse. When thinking about the

However, this perpetual state does not work alone in the harmful effects of emotional abuse. Secondly,
emotional abuse exceeds physical abuse because of its more personal approach and attack on the
victim s self esteem. Those who emotionally abuse their partner pinpoint flaws and areas where the
victim already has self esteem issues (Patterson). This includes implying that one is ugly, stupid, fat,
etc., and this personal approach causes the victim to have further self confidence issues and to believe
that the abuse is their own fault (Stosny). On the other hand, physical abuse tends to make it likely for
the victim to realize that the abuser has a problem, rather than themselves. If emotional abuse did not
target and was not as personal, the effects would fall lower than what they are. However, emotional
abuse causes it to be about the persons themselves and their spirit (Stosny). The personal insults and
criticisms wear away at self esteem so much that the victim will believe they are worthless and
actually blame themselves for the abuse (Hein). This obliteration of self esteem remains only one
reason why the pain of emotional abuse exceeds physical abuse, and it worsens

A Research On Meadow Hills Hospital
Meadow Hills Hospital is a two hundred bed hospital with a large Medical Staff that serves a
population of three hundred thousand. It is one of four similar hospitals in the region. They do not
currently have an EHR, but they re financial systems are well developed. They have a good amount of
money in reserve to spend on any solution they feel is needed. Historically, their IT function has
reported up through the Chief Financial Officer. This has led to their financial systems being well
developed. But, their Clinical systems are significantly less developed. Clinicians have been ok with
this arrangement. Not having more advanced clinical systems has allowed them to develop and
maintain processes that they are comfortable with. This is a comfort for the clinicians, but is likely
costing the organization money as records are paper based, not electronic. Also, as they have no CPOE
installed, they are not performing the safety checks, such as drug interaction that can come with those
systems. This is placing an unnecessary risk on patients. Developing an IT Strategy for Meadow Hills
Hospital would likely revolve around bolstering the clinical side of IT. An IT Strategy would assist the
organization in knowing how and where to invest the money stored in their reserves. This can also
ensure that their IT goals are in line with their overall organization goals. As they are currently
organized, IT reports up to the CFO. This is a formula to ensure that IT goals

Four Major Sociological Paradigms
The four major sociological theoretical paradigms are; structural functional, social conflict, symbolic
interaction, and postmodern perspectives.
Structural functional paradigm is based on the system being stable, where most of the community
believe in the same set of values, beliefs and behavioral expectations (Kendall, 2017, p. 17). Society
has put together social structures that play a large role in aiding in the survival of the society. These
social structures include; family, education, government, religion as well as the economy. If something
unfavorable happens to any of these social structures then the system cannot work properly.
Social conflict is where various groups in society are embarked in a struggle for power or control of
scarce resources (Kendall, 2017, p. 18). It could be in politics and litigation, as well as negotiation, or
even financial issues within the family. It is recognizing the importance of economic conditions which

where if someone yells fire! into a crowd at a movie theater, it generates a response, which is to find

Physically as the child isn t playing at playtime they might not be as physically active as they
previously were. Responding to any concern has to be done in a professional manner meaning that you
don t talk to the parents or carer of the child without first following procedures. You would have to
have an account and a note of exactly what was seen or heard or anything witnessed. You would need
to state why it was a concern to you and the date and time this occurred. You would need to have kept
a log and it must be true and accurate. You would approach the class teacher with your concern. If the
teacher disregards it you would still need to report it as you have a responsibility to that child or young
person. You would report it to the relevant person above the teacher until the concern has been
reported correctly. Once reported the relevant person can help the child appropriately to solve the
issue correctly hopefully getting the child back on course. If you fail to take note and report any
concerns of child development the child or young person s development could be affected in various
areas. Example 2 You may start to become concerned about a child or young person if they start to act
out of character or their behaviour changes. You have a child who in class usually participates well

puff of gray smoke and sparks pored out from under the hood that covered his face. An overpowering
stench of burnt flesh and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth of the matter is, the United States should cease the use of capital punishment in both federal
and state prisons. Capital punishment is immoral and unethical; it degrades society, and lowers the
value of a human life. It does not deter murder, it is not economically efficient, and its effects are
irreversible. There is not one good reason to keep executing wrongdoers in the United States or
anywhere else.
Capital punishment goes against the morals and standards that our country is based upon. A
punishment that inflicts harm on a person can hardly be good or moral if it is purposeless. A
punishment may be given to a wrongdoer for one or a combination of the following reasons: (1) to
protect the community from the criminal returning to previous activity, (2) to rehabilitate the offender;
and (3) to restore the moral order breached by the violation. Capital punishment is not required to
accomplish any of these purposes. Other alternatives work better or at least as well (Robinson, 1999,
October 7). Killing is not the answer (Bender amp; Leone, 1987 p. 63). Recently some states have
been implementing life without parole as an alternative to death. This has proven just a successful as
the death penalty for punishment. It prevents criminals from returning to society, and is less expensive
than capital punishment (Vila amp; Morris, 1997, p.255). Another study shows that over 80% of those
serving life sentences will never commit another crime, and well

Essay About Rock
Our rock, Inez proclaimed. What I imagine you two probably didn t think at all about was... what was
truly going to happen to our rock when we fired the magnetron. When the magnetron sent its
microwaves into the rock, they actually went through it, hitting the iron plates on the other side, and
were then reflected back our way where the Geiger Counter took a series of measurements of them.
Those measurements were then analyzed by my program and then given to us. Inez hit another
command on his keyboard bringing up a new screen. Before all three of them now appeared what
seemed like endless rows and columns of ones and zeroes, each row in groups of eight numbers. What
you re looking at is what s called bytes, Inez stated. Each byte ... Show more content on

And, it has to happen so fast on our end that there s nothing the volunteers can do to stop it. So, we
wait, then, Cassidy affirmed. We wait, for now, acceded Inez. This sucks, Phillip sulked. Awe, man,
don t get so down, Inez said. Good things come to those who wait. We ll get all of this out there when
the time is right and we ll make everybody have to listen to us then. Yeah, I guess, you re right, Phillip
agreed reluctantly. Hey, man, do you want to see something else that s really cool? asked Inez hoping
shuffled the conversation to a brighter note. Yeah, what? Phillip asked, sounding a bit eager. Well, if
this experiment was anything like the first one I did yesterday, then we should have one more result.
What is it? asked Cassidy, Inez s revelation having also recaptured her attention. Well, this is kind of
freaky if it happened, so be forewarned, Inez avowed. Come on, tell us, Cassidy pleaded. Okay,
Phillip, my man, why don t you go pick up your rock? said Inez with a gesturing head nod. Okay,
Phillip said assenting to the request somewhat tentative as he looked over at Inez then glancing at
Cassidy. Summing up the courage, he then complied, making his way over to where the rock still sat
atop Inez s computer desk. Slowly, he reached out a timid hand, cautious to touch the stone. Then,
making contact, he ever so lightly glazed over it with his index finger searching for anything unusual,

The Awakening Analysis
Sacrifices can define one s character; the definition can either be the highest dignity or the lowest
degradation of the value of one s life. In The Awakening, Kate Chopin implicitly conveys the sacrifice
Edna Pontellier makes in the life which provides insight of her character and attributions to her
awakening. She sacrificed her past of a lively and youthful life and compressed it to a domestic and
reserved lifestyle of housewife picturesque. However, she meets multiple acquaintances who help her
express her dreams and true identity. Mrs. Pontellier s sacrifice established her awakening to be
defiant and drift away from the societal role of an obedient mother, as well as, highlighting the
difference between society s expectations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Robert Lebrun, who gives her all the affection and attention she wants, makes her feel
and act like how she was before she was married. As a result, she starts to disregard her husband and
his commands. Such as in the event, when Mr. Pontellier commanded her to come inside the house
after a long night. However, Mrs. Pontellier disobeyed him and stayed outside. She would, through
habit, have yielded to his desire; not with any sense of submission or obedience to his compelling
wishes, but unthinkingly, as we walk, move, sit, stand, go through the daily treadmill of the life which
has been portioned out to us (Chopin 40). At this stage of Mrs. Pontellier greatly values the kind of
freedom she had before marriage. Her newly oppression towards her husband exhibits the defiance of
women towards men. Chopin meant to show Mrs. Pontellier as an outsider of society, in order to
spread the image of women, who can make their own decisions. After returning from vacation, Edna is
a changed woman. When her husband and children are gone, she moves out of the house and purses
her own ambitions. She starts painting and feeling happier. There were days when she was very happy
without knowing why. She was happy to be alive and breathing when her whole being seemed to be
one with the sunlight, the color, the odors, the luxuriant warmth of some perfect Southern day (Chopin
69). Her sacrifice greatly contributed to her disobedient actions.

The Grizzly Bear Lodge Mini Case Owning and operating a lodge can be a lot of work, but rewarding
at the same time. Customers come to a lodge to relax and get away from their daily routine. When
staying the night away from home, it is important to the customer that the staff at the lodge makes
their stay as comfortable as possible. In this case The Grizzly Bear Lodge will be examined. It will
look at the service they provide in addition to their expansion opportunities. The Grizzly Bear Lodge
is family owned. According to the textbook, Management: Leading and Collaborating in a
Competitive World, Diane and Rudy Conrad operate The Grizzly Bear Lodge which accommodates
15 rooms (598). They offer breakfast every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone who works for them will know the rules to follow. They will understand that customers are
their top priority. Concurrent control will also help ensure customer satisfaction. Concurrent control
takes place as the plans are being carried out (Snell 572). Diane and Rudy will be able to supervise
their staff so that they can make sure they are working to the best of their ability. This will allow them
to see firsthand how they are treating their customers. Concurrent control focuses on avoiding
mistakes and seeing that the customers are adhered to in a timely manner. The last bureaucratic control
method that the textbook discusses is feedback control. Feedback control is when the customers
provide information about their experience to the company. The Grizzly Bear Lodge would benefit
from using feedback because it would come directly from their customers. Based on what the
feedback states, the lodge could make necessary adjustments. Feedback does not always have to be
negative either. Customers could leave positive feedback so that they know what they should keep
doing to keep customers satisfied. Budgeting is a big part of expansion. In order to expand, the current
business should be successful. In the case of The Grizzly Bear Lodge, they are. In addition to success,
however, the Conrad s must have enough funding for the expansion. The Conrad s must look at the
bottom line for their lodge. The bottom line focuses on the six sigma

  • 3. Did Jesus Deserve To Die Essay Jesus was the man who claimed to be the Son of God. He lived a long, long time ago. Many scholars say that Jesus was born around the time zero. It is believed that the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Nobody knows exactly what Jesus looked like because there was no pictorial evidence from his time to show what he looked like. In lots of present time pictures of Jesus, he has long brown hair with brown eyes and a tanned skin. In my eyes Jesus had hazelnut brown hair with the blue eyes. He also may have had a tanned skin because he lived in Israel which is a very hot country though when he went to heaven my view changes a bit. I think when Jesus went to heaven he had a pale skin colour like God and that it wasn t just lights shining on him. He may have looked like an ordinary man but he turned the impossible possible. When he was alive he did many great things but many people didn t like this. My question is did Jesus deserve to die? Jesus did many great miracles but not everyone accepted what he did. The reason why Jesus performed miracles was because he needed prove that he could heal the sick and why people should follow him. One of his miracles was the healing of the paralysed man. • 4. Essay on Origins of the Watch making Industry Origins of the Watch making Industry The production of watches was a major industry of Great Britain for hundreds of years. Watch making originated in Europe in the early 16th century, when coiled springs were first used to power clocks. Clocks were powered by weights originally, and therefore remained stationary. The springs meant that clocks could be moved for the first time, and soon, German clockmakers started to make very small clocks, which are considered as the earliest watches made. Watch making was the most advanced line of the clock making industry, which developed when Blacksmiths started introducing their skills with metal to clock making. Watches were being made in Great Britain from around the middle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prescot made rough watch movements and it is often mistaken that Prescot made the actual watches. This means that it was just the actual working parts of the watch that were roughly finished and assembled, the movements would then be shipped to finishers all over the country, and overseas, where they would be taken apart again, finished and put into cases, usually made of precious metals such as gold and silver. The nature of the industry Watch making was an example of what is known as a cottage industry . Cottage industries were a tradition of Lancashire, and included any type of manual work where goods were produced at home. The goods produced by a cottage industry were often on a piecework basis. That is when the goods are made to order when required. An order would be placed with the producer for a certain number of items, as and when required. All those involved in the watch making industry could earn a good wage doing this king of work properly and on time. Each craftsman would have one specialty in particular, spring making, watch hand making and so on. The various parts would come from each workshop and then these would be sent to an assembly workshop, where the rough watch movement would be constructed from all of the parts. These would then be sent to be finished (that is polished and made ready to be fitted into a case). Twenty individual branches of watch making were open during the mid Victorian ... • 5. Constraint Induced Aphasia After the first year of aphasia resulting from stroke, researchers believe that spontaneous recovery even with intensive therapies will be unlikely. There are few studies which have documented the results of post stroke language functions after 12 months. Traditional language therapies also focus on utilizing compensatory communication strategies with a focus on immediate communication needs for each patient. Initial strategies used included gesturing, drawing, writing, and AAC systems with the expectation that these assistive modalities will be decreased as verbal language function improves. Scientists have begun to question if using these types of techniques could contribute to a learned non use phenomenon. Thus, this study purposes to discover if restraining non verbal communication in aphasia patients can result in better verbal language outcomes in the future. Constraint induced aphasia therapy (CIAT) focuses on using intensive verbal practice with clinician guided verbal cuing without the use of other compensatory strategies (ex: naming). Although there are concerns that limiting communication compensatory strategies could create frustration with speaking, it is theorized that a supportive environment and better ... This power in wire should turn on a test light with the ignition on and maximum speed selected. The black wire should indicate a strong ground. If you have a good ground and verified power into the module, yet have no electricity flowing to the blower motor you probably have a bad module. In many cases when I find the problem with the GM blower motor module I also find signs of moisture in the heater case that contains the motor and module. If the AC condensation drain becomes blocked you ll wind up with water flowing into the HVAC case. The blower motor module is close to being the low point and will wind up sitting in a bath of water. The areas of injury in the brain are the core ischemic zone (the main area that blood flow is at its lowest) and the ischemic penumbra (surrounding area). Neurons carry necessary oxygen and glucose to the brain. When the brain is deprived of oxygen and glucose, brain cells, glial cells, and vascular cells are affected depending on the amount of blood supply and duration of blocked blood supply to the area. Cells in the penumbra have a chance of restoration if blood flow from surrounding arteries compensate. For areas absent of blood flow, hypoxic injury occurs and cells go through necrosis while surviving cells may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 14. Hybrid Types Of Hybrid Electric Vehicles Full Hybrid Transmission System 1 FULL HYBRID DESCRIPTION Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) differentiates from basic electric vehicles (EV) through their use of two power sources. The purpose of having two power sources is to utilize the properties of both the electric component and combustion engine to create a vehicle that s more efficient and less environmentally damaging. Different types of hybrid systems utilise different properties of the power sources through compromise, allowing better performance for the vehicles specifications. Full Hybrids, considered the most fuel efficient, can automatically swap between series, parallel and full electric modes (further explained below) allowing the vehicle to run at full utilization and economy through different uses, such as in traffic, highway driving and racing. Examples of full hybrid vehicles include that of the Toyota Prius and many of Toyota s Synergy Drive Hybrid range. Series powertrains refer to using an electric motor to rotate the wheels, whilst the alternate power source drives an on board generator which essentially increases the reliability of the electric motor without directly powering the wheels. Unlike series mode, in parallel mode both power sources are used to provide power to the wheels. This can be configured in a wide variety of ways by alternating the use of full electric or full combustions, or having different wheels powered by different sources, i.e. front wheels electric drive and back wheels ... • 16. Oedipus, A Tragic Hero Oedipus, a Tragic Hero Bob Livingston Liberty University Sophocles presented the world with Oedipus around 2500 years ago. Never the less, the story remains among the most riveting of all time. He was, in fact, a man that was driven by a very high internal moral standard. It was that internal moral standard that ultimately entwined him in a sequence of events and circumstances that placed him in the spousal relationship with his mother. Oedipus, in fact, can truly be regarded as a tragic hero as Aristotle himself defined the term. Considering Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero, it can be found that Oedipus fits the character description flawlessly through various traits that he displays and the foundation of his tragic fall: Just as tragic heroes and heroines have been identified with different eras and cultures, the classical ideal of the tragic hero will be incomplete if the concept of tragedy is not focalized. This paper, therefore, looks at how the classical period defined and delineated its tragic hero based on the action and the plot of the play. The paper provides extracts from Sophocles King Oedipus as the main text and Euripides Iphigenia in Tauris as a supporting text to present Oedipus as the tragic hero. Textual analysis shows that the delineation of the tragic hero lies in the source or context of the tragic situation. Sophocles and Euripides views on the tragic hero are similar to Aristotle s concept of hamartia of the classical period. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the war first started, many Canadian men were greatly excited about the adventures that they will experience at war and the stories they will be able to tell when they come home as heroic soldiers. This excitement led many men, even young boys to enlist and volunteer for the war. This could have been one of the reasons why Canadian troops lost so many more soldiers towards the end of the war than before. The Military Service Act created more than just terrible effects on families and publics but it also created riots, violence and conflicts with the English and the French citizens. When this act was first introduced, it gained very unpleasant feedbacks, this was such a controversial issue that as it became more and more serious, it led Canada to split into two. Canada became a divided nation with English on one side and French on the other. The cause of this conflict was mainly because of the conscription act, the English felt that it was beneficial for the war while the French thought the exact opposite. English Canada was in favour of this forced military service because they felt that more than enough English men went to war, while the French men contributed very little. On the other hand, French Canada felt that there was no need to enlist in the war because they felt it was not necessary to support a country that they did not have any patriotism or love for. In addition, French men were needed at home to work on the farm. LCCA can be repeated throughout the design process if more detailed cost information becomes available. Alternately, they can be determined from government or private sector cost estimating guides and databases. The Tri Services Parametric Estimating System (TPES) contained in the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Construction Criteria Base (CCB) developed models of different facility types by determining the critical cost parameters (i.e., number of floors, area and volume, perimeter length) and relating these values through algebraic formulas to predict costs of a wide range of building systems, subsystems, and assemblies. The TPES models can be adapted to facilities beyond those included in the base modeling system by using SuccessEstimator, a software package available from U.S. Cost. Detailed cost estimates are prepared at the submittal stages of design (typically at 30%, 60%, and 90%) based on quantity take off calculations. These estimates rely on cost databases such as the Commercial Unit Price Book (C UPB) or the R. S. Means Building Construction Cost Database. • 21. The Resurrection Research Paper It s not enough that the tomb is empty. It s not enough to proclaim, Christ is risen! It s not enough to believe in the resurrection. At some point we must move from the event of the resurrection to experiencing the resurrection. Experiencing resurrected life begins with recognizing the risen Christ among us. That is the gift of Easter and it is also the difficulty and challenge described in today s gospel. The Gospel authors (especially Luke and John) go to great lengths to show that there s something different about the resurrected Christ. Something so different that Mary Magdalene doesn t recognize Jesus, and in fact mistakes him for the gardener, on Easter morning. And then the disciples on the road to Emmaus talk about Jesus all afternoon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Gospels don t tell us what exactly was different about Jesus. Just that he is unrecognizable. Until Jesus calls Mary by name, or until he breaks bread with the disciples. Then they came to know that he is Jesus. Very quietly, gently, the evangelists communicate something very important to us: something happens in the resurrection which makes Jesus new. They are coy about the details. But, we don t need the details to know that something is going on here. But, one of the other things that the Gospel authors are also clearly intent on showing us, is that it s really Jesus who rose from the dead. It s not a ghost. Not a spirit. Not a vision. Not a hallucination. You can t reach out and touch a hallucination. Visions don t eat broiled fish. That new reality begins with touching and seeing, flesh and bones, hands and feet, and broiled fish. Jesus said to his disciples, Look at my hands and my feet; see that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have. Then he showed them his hands and his feet. After this he ate a piece of broiled fish in their presence. If for loss of compassion for this side of humanity, I would say in an objective and extremely distant point of view that it is pathetic. It is good that I am reading it in my 20s, being a daughter, single and childless. I truly get the father s anguish and grief. The poems express oscillating feelings that explore the dimensions of extent of strong human emotion. At the same time I understand the son s rebelliousness to a parent who insists that he (the father) listens yet strongly occurs as imposing. Unfortunately, the love desperately being communicated does not go across. The story revolved in the father s thoughts, dreams and memories without an actual dialogue: an attempt to truly listen and get his son. The father s hopes to someday laugh at these poems with his son is a very real illusion that humans live in by default. Although I do not think simply learning philosophy can change the way I live, I know that learning and exploring deeper into specific philosophies can completely alter my outlook on life. Life is a particular type or aspect of people s existence and all beings are living this life as far as we know. The question I often find myself asking is whether or not we are the ones making our own choices, living life as we so choose, with no free will at all (determinism), or with our fate set out for us (fatalism). Due to the fact that the events that will take place in my life are destined to occur one way or another, it makes me rethink certain aspects of my own life. My entire outlook on life has changed based on this one theory. My belief in God which was previously nonexistent has grown immensely because of philosophy thus changing my outlook on life even more. If one is a believer in an omniscient being, God, that person is fatalist. Taylor explains, To say that God is omniscient means that He knows everything that is true. He cannot, of course, know that which is false, (Taylor, 57). If God exists and knows all, then if God were to tell someone how, when, where they were going to die his answer would have to be true. Therefore if God knows all that has happened, whether it is as minor as an ant being born or as major as the end of the world, God knows all that is involved. One cannot believe in God and not believe in fate because He knows all that will come in the future and that is what fate is. However, a determinist will not believe in God, because of this fact. A determinist sees all the causes of what has happened as random, independent events that have causes and effects. In the story of Osmo, although he knows what future holds he still cannot avoid it. This story does not prove the theory of fate, however, it gives an example of how it is unavoidable. A determinist will believe this story because he knows what fate has set ... • 41. Essay Against Capital Punishment At 8:00 p.m. it was nearing the end of John Evans last day on death row. He had spent most of the day with his minister and family, praying and talking of what was to come. At 8:20 he was walked from his cell down to the long hall to the execution room and strapped in the electric chair. At 8:30 p.m. the first jolt of 1900 volts passed through Mr. Evans body. It lasted 30 seconds. Sparks and flames erupted from the electrode tied to Mr. Evans leg. His body slammed against the straps holding him in the chair and his fist clenched permanently. The electrode then burst from the strap holding it in place. A large puff of gray smoke and sparks pored out from under the hood that covered his face. An overpowering stench of burnt flesh and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The truth of the matter is, the United States should cease the use of capital punishment in both federal and state prisons. Capital punishment is immoral and unethical; it degrades society, and lowers the value of a human life. It does not deter murder, it is not economically efficient, and its effects are irreversible. There is not one good reason to keep executing wrongdoers in the United States or anywhere else. Capital punishment goes against the morals and standards that our country is based upon. A punishment that inflicts harm on a person can hardly be good or moral if it is purposeless. A punishment may be given to a wrongdoer for one or a combination of the following reasons: (1) to protect the community from the criminal returning to previous activity, (2) to rehabilitate the offender; and (3) to restore the moral order breached by the violation. Capital punishment is not required to accomplish any of these purposes. Other alternatives work better or at least as well (Robinson, 1999, October 7). Killing is not the answer (Bender amp; Leone, 1987 p. 63). Recently some states have been implementing life without parole as an alternative to death. This has proven just a successful as the death penalty for punishment. It prevents criminals from returning to society, and is less expensive than capital punishment (Vila amp; Morris, 1997, p.255). Another study shows that over 80% of those serving life sentences will never commit another crime, and well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay About Rock Our rock, Inez proclaimed. What I imagine you two probably didn t think at all about was... what was truly going to happen to our rock when we fired the magnetron. When the magnetron sent its microwaves into the rock, they actually went through it, hitting the iron plates on the other side, and were then reflected back our way where the Geiger Counter took a series of measurements of them. Those measurements were then analyzed by my program and then given to us. Inez hit another command on his keyboard bringing up a new screen. Before all three of them now appeared what seemed like endless rows and columns of ones and zeroes, each row in groups of eight numbers. What you re looking at is what s called bytes, Inez stated. Each byte ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And, it has to happen so fast on our end that there s nothing the volunteers can do to stop it. So, we wait, then, Cassidy affirmed. We wait, for now, acceded Inez. This sucks, Phillip sulked. Awe, man, don t get so down, Inez said. Good things come to those who wait. We ll get all of this out there when the time is right and we ll make everybody have to listen to us then. Yeah, I guess, you re right, Phillip agreed reluctantly. Hey, man, do you want to see something else that s really cool? asked Inez hoping shuffled the conversation to a brighter note. Yeah, what? Phillip asked, sounding a bit eager. Well, if this experiment was anything like the first one I did yesterday, then we should have one more result. What is it? asked Cassidy, Inez s revelation having also recaptured her attention. Well, this is kind of freaky if it happened, so be forewarned, Inez avowed. Come on, tell us, Cassidy pleaded. Okay, Phillip, my man, why don t you go pick up your rock? said Inez with a gesturing head nod. Okay, Phillip said assenting to the request somewhat tentative as he looked over at Inez then glancing at Cassidy. Summing up the courage, he then complied, making his way over to where the rock still sat atop Inez s computer desk. Slowly, he reached out a timid hand, cautious to touch the stone. Then, making contact, he ever so lightly glazed over it with his index finger searching for anything unusual, any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Awakening Analysis Sacrifices can define one s character; the definition can either be the highest dignity or the lowest degradation of the value of one s life. In The Awakening, Kate Chopin implicitly conveys the sacrifice Edna Pontellier makes in the life which provides insight of her character and attributions to her awakening. She sacrificed her past of a lively and youthful life and compressed it to a domestic and reserved lifestyle of housewife picturesque. However, she meets multiple acquaintances who help her express her dreams and true identity. Mrs. Pontellier s sacrifice established her awakening to be defiant and drift away from the societal role of an obedient mother, as well as, highlighting the difference between society s expectations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Robert Lebrun, who gives her all the affection and attention she wants, makes her feel and act like how she was before she was married. As a result, she starts to disregard her husband and his commands. Such as in the event, when Mr. Pontellier commanded her to come inside the house after a long night. However, Mrs. Pontellier disobeyed him and stayed outside. She would, through habit, have yielded to his desire; not with any sense of submission or obedience to his compelling wishes, but unthinkingly, as we walk, move, sit, stand, go through the daily treadmill of the life which has been portioned out to us (Chopin 40). At this stage of Mrs. Pontellier greatly values the kind of freedom she had before marriage. Her newly oppression towards her husband exhibits the defiance of women towards men. Chopin meant to show Mrs. Pontellier as an outsider of society, in order to spread the image of women, who can make their own decisions. After returning from vacation, Edna is a changed woman. When her husband and children are gone, she moves out of the house and purses her own ambitions. She starts painting and feeling happier. There were days when she was very happy without knowing why. She was happy to be alive and breathing when her whole being seemed to be one with the sunlight, the color, the odors, the luxuriant warmth of some perfect Southern day (Chopin 69). Her sacrifice greatly contributed to her disobedient actions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
