sought to assess the birth and death registration in a semi urban settlement in Uasin
Gishu Kenya. This is a descriptive cross sectional survey conducted in a semi
urban settlement in the Uasin Gishu of Kenya to determine awareness, attitude
and practice of birth and death registration. This is a descriptive cross sectional
survey. Three hundred and two heads of households were interviewed in houses
selected by systematic random sampling and birth registration certificate checked
for children below 11 years. The study showed that awareness of birth registration
was high in the study population and the major source of awareness is through
government agencies and mass media play very little role. The awareness of death
registration is however very low. Out of the 217 (71.9%) households that had
children below 11 years, total children below 11 years is 473 children, 354 (74.8%)
of them had their births registered and only 202 (57.1%) had registration certificate
during the interview. Of the 209 households that recorded deaths in the household
within the last 10 years only 24 (11.8%) households reported registering deaths in the

s a sociology major, I was broadly aware of the complexities of race relations within
the U.S and I thought the class would simply solidify notions that I had previously

Never get tired of doing little things for others, sometimes those little things occupy
the biggest part of their hearts. Unknown. There are six main core values for the field
of social work. These values are; (1) Service, (2) Social Justice, (3) Dignity and
Worth of Person, (4) Competence, (5) Integrity, and (6) Importance of Human
Relationships. I found that I agree with all six of the core values, not one of these
are different from my own beliefs.
First, I ll address the value of Service. A social worker is expected to serve others
to the best of their ability and put them above their self. They should offer their
knowledge to help the client and find the way to best serve them. As a social
worker, one should want to volunteer and help out without any expectation of
compensation or getting anything in return. I have always felt a strong calling to
provide help and care for those who are in need. I have done this before in my own
community, working closely with my local center to help homeowners with repairs to
their house, such as; painting, roofing, cleaning, etc. When needed, I have also
packed boxes of food, sorted through donations, delivered meals to shut ins, and

H. I. Hester writes in his book entitled The Heart of the New Testament, The term
canon as applied to accepted authoritative Christian writing was first used in
Alexandria, Egypt. In modern usage the term canon means the list of biblical books
which are recognized as inspired by the Holy Spirit and authoritative. The stories
contained in the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bibleare of paramount
importance to the faith and spiritual development of every Christian alive today.
Human minds may never completely understand all that is contained in Holy Writ
but this research paper will also attempt to shed some light on some of the factors
that help determine what biblical books are considered canon today.
Reason or Need for Adoption of a Canon of Scripture There were many reasons for
the adaption of a canon of Scripture. One good reason is the basis of Christianity is
found in the authority of Scripture. The chief editor, Ted Byfield, wrote in his book,

Something that I vehemently disagree on with both political parties is defense
spending. In their platforms, both parties seem to favor an increase in funding, even
if it is a bit more discretely worded under the Democratic Party s platform. In my
view, we allocate too much of our country s resources to the military, and neglect
many of its other needs in doing so. The United Statesmilitary is by far and away the
most puissant armed organization in the world. Here are some figures that help
illustrate just how pragmatic that last statement is. In the 2015 fiscal year we
spent 598 billion dollars on the military; that s over fifty percent of the federal
government s discretionary spending.(1) In 2016, only 19 of 194 nations had a
higher GDP than America s defense budget; that means that the U.S. spends more
money per year on its military than the total value of all goods produced and
services provided in a country in a year in 90 percent of the world s nations.(2)
According to 2016 statistics the U.S. spends more on its defense than the next eight
countries combined.(3) That same year, China was second with a 215 billion dollar
defense budget and Russia was third at approximately 69 billion.
Donald Trump s audacious administration is actually proposing a budget for 2018
that increases military spending by 54 billion dollars!(4) To make this feasible
massive cuts have to be made to the detriment of bureaucratic organizations such as:
the department of education, the EPA, department of labor, housing and urban
development department. To give that number a frame of reference, the estimated
cost of providing tuition free public universities under the 2016 Sanders plan is
approximately 75 billion dollars.(5) We already have nearly eight hundred military
bases around the world, do we really need to allocate more resources to this
department in which we already have the ability to act unilaterally on a global scale
with impunity?(6) Or are there other departments in our society that could benefit
more from an influx in funding?
I disagree with the egregiously high military budget for several reasons. Not only do I
feel that other pivotal areas of our society are lacking support, but I also disagree

Abstract
It is obvious in the Western culture; gender makes a difference within the sports.
Several studies have shown how reality discriminates within female sporting events
and athletes when compared to males. The objective of this study is to examine how
male athletes and sporting events dominate over female athletes and sporting events
since Title IX law was passed in 1972. The law stated that no person on the basis of
sex, in the U.S. would be discriminated against in any athletics or educational
programs. Since Title IX, women have had an incline in sports participation, equal
education experience, pay salaries, respect, and position opportunities. Though Title

Moral Dilemmas Of The Louisiana Purchase
The purchase of Louisiana between France and the United States changed America
forever. However, the Louisiana Purchase posed several significant moral dilemmas
for President Thomas Jefferson because of Jefferson s belief in strict constructionism
, the government conflicts that arose, and the concern of how the people and states
would come into the Union.
Jefferson s plans for the nation were dependent upon westward expansion for
educated American farmers. He wanted access to international markets to create the
ideal society of agriculturist. His enduring vision was altered and crushed, however,
when France repossessed control of Louisiana in 1801. The ambitious Napoleon
Bonaparte, who had risen to power during the French Revolution, threatened to block
American access to the New Orleans port on the Mississippi River. This port played a
crucial key in the American business. New American settlements west of the
Appalachian Mountains were dependent on the Mississippi River to transport their
goods. The then president, Thomas Jefferson understood that blocking access to
New Orleans was a grave threat to the interests of Americans. So what did Jefferson
do? Well when the vast territory presented itself, he knew he could not pass it up.
Jefferson always stated his strong belief that the federal government powers should
be followed strictly. In fact, Article IV of the Constitution states that new states could
be added, but made no provisions for the taking of foreign territories ( Jefferson and
the Louisiana Purchase ). Being a strict constructionist, he strongly felt that any
powers not specifically given to the federal government were reserved for the
interest of individual sovereign states. Jefferson followed the Constitution
religiously and when he purchased Louisiana it challenged his whole belief on it.
He previously argued with Alexander Hamilton about the Presidential Powers as
