1. Writing A Reflection Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Writing A Reflection Essay" may initially seem like a
straightforward task, but delving into the intricacies of the topic reveals a complexity that
challenges even seasoned writers. The inherent paradox lies in the reflective nature of the essay,
demanding a profound self-awareness that goes beyond the conventional boundaries of academic
writing.
The difficulty arises from the need to strike a delicate balance between personal introspection
and maintaining a structured, coherent narrative. The writer must navigate the fine line between
self-disclosure and maintaining a level of objectivity that resonates with the audience. Selecting
and organizing experiences, thoughts, and emotions into a logical and meaningful progression
can prove to be a formidable task.
Moreover, the challenge extends to the process of articulating these reflections effectively.
Conveying one's innermost thoughts with clarity and precision requires a mastery of language
that goes beyond the superficial aspects of grammar and syntax. It necessitates a deep
understanding of how words can encapsulate the essence of personal growth and learning.
The task is further complicated by the need to ensure that the reflective essay is not a mere
recounting of events but a thoughtful exploration of the significance and impact of those
experiences. This requires a level of critical analysis that adds another layer of complexity to the
writing process.
In essence, writing a reflection essay demands not only a high level of writing proficiency but
also a profound engagement with one's own experiences. It requires the writer to traverse the
realms of introspection, self-analysis, and effective communication simultaneously, making it a
challenging endeavor.
For those grappling with the intricacies of crafting a reflective essay, seeking assistance is a
prudent choice. If you find yourself in need of support, similar essays and a plethora of other

2. Beyond The Things They Carried
Beyond the Things They Carried
The Vietnam War began in 1954, consisting of many extensive, horrific years of
battle that seemed to create more harm to the United States and its soldiers rather
than to North Vietnam. The 500,000 United States military personnel returned home
with the loss of the war and the loss of their friends on their minds. Although the
physical and emotional experiences that the men went through is unfathomable, Tim
O Brien does a great job portraying what life as a soldier was truly like in the Vietnam
War. In the book The Things They Carried, Tim O Brien depicts the unstable
emotional and psychological condition of the American soldiers through the
symbolism of their belongings and personal anecdotes from their lives. The book
opens with Tim O Brien listing items that the soldiers needed to carry with them for
life in Vietnam, such as a P 38 can opener, mosquito repellent, C rations, dog tags, and
many more necessities, weighing around twelve to eighteen pounds in total. Many
men also had the added weight of weapons needed for combat, which then added
another five to twenty six pounds depending on what weapon and the amount of
ammunition necessary. On average, most men carried around thirty pounds, but the
load was much higher when considering the emotional and psychological weight put
on their shoulders from the impact of these items. Early on in the book Tim O Brien
states, They carried all they could bear, and then some, including a silent
3. What Was Jackie s First Confession
1.Why was Jackie scared to death of his first confession? What events fueled his fear?
What specifically is Jackie afraid of, if he makes his first confession?
Jackie was afraid that his confession would go badly due to the way he feels about
his grandmother and his sister. Ms. Ryan started talking about hell, and all the
punishments for being a sinner. Jackie believes he has sinned and his soul is
damned. Nora scares Jackie even more reminding him of bad things he has done
before he is supposed to go to confession. After his sister Nora, finishes her
confession she comes out looking like a saint .

The priest was understanding towards Jackie s feelings towards his family and

his grandmother or sister. When Nora finds out that he was forgiven his sins and
given Three Hail Mary s. At first, she did not believe that Jackie could have

4. Similarities Between Evoking And Evoking
Evoking a diety or a spiritual being is done when we want to call upon an energy or
spirit to join us in a ritual or magickal work. Evoking is only an external
involvement with the deity as we just call upon them or make an offering in the
hope that they give their consent and turn up for the ritual. Evoking, unlike
Invoking can be done by new comers to the practice as communing with God
/ Goddess is only through external means. Evoking can be done when I want to do
a ritual and want to ask the help or a spiritual, divine energy for giving their
blessings or lending their energy for the ritual. However unlike Invoking, we can
command the energy to leave the circle when the ritual is done. This is important
to do otherwise in this case the energy can do some little, playful mischief or
something bigger eg. I read about a witch and her circle evoking water spirits
during the ritual and they forgot to banish them, and after few hours they saw that
area of the house leaking with water (the water fairies did their mischief) and there
was no logical explanation that how did the knob of the pipes be left... Show more

It is also important how to use the process. Evoking is done in a group, and the
collective energy in the group or individual energy of people can affect the ritual.
For example, if there are psychic vampires, parasitic energies in certain people, or
even skeptics who are unconsciously lending their negative vibes in the group. In
such a case it is important to know the that Evoking ritual will fail and you need to
be more selective in choosing the people in your circle next time. Evoking is a very
personal process and the intent and purpose if the people doing the ritual will affect
the conclusion of the
5. Power of the American President Essay
Power of the American President
The Founding fathers of America believed in a separation of powers, a system of
checks and balances and a federal system of government. That way power would be
diffused and decentralised and tyranny would be avoided. Implicit in the constitution
is the principle of checks and balances. This refers to the belief that the founding
fathers had that no one branch of the constitutional and government system would
dominate the rest. Thus President and congress often have to approve the
appointments and actions of each other, with the supreme court in the background
protecting the integrity of the constitution. There the president is not all powerful.
After Watergate,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The president has the constitutional power to recommend bills to congress and
manage the governments budget, to make treaties with foreign states and direct
federal administration. As well as being head of the executive branch with
jurisdiction over the government bureaucracy he was also to be the commander and
chief of the armed forces.
The growth of presidential power during the course of the 20th century has certainly
been great, but has not been absolute, and the presidents powers are limited in many
respects. The presidents powers under the constitution may have expanded but as
have the congress and the courts and therefore the president still has to work within a
separation of powers . Even with a friendly majority in congress, presidents proposals
may be rejected or amended.
The president may be the head of an economic super power, but it is not the only
super power in the world, and domestically that power is not solely the white houses.
Within the US a degree of economic power has been asserted by congress, and always
the multinational organisations constitute a formidable power beyond that of the
president.
In terms of military and diplomatic initiatives, America has not always been
successful
6. Analysis Of The Poem The Thou Wilt Despatch Me
Thomas Weelkes (c 1576 1623) was an Organist and a composer. He studied music
at Oxford, and eventually secured positions as an organist at Winchester College then
Chichester Cathedral as a choirmaster. Weelkes was a daring composer, using many
dissonances amongst five voices and varying rhythms tremendously. Nevertheless, he
garnered significant success during his time and wrote some of the best English
madrigals. One of his most known pieces, O Care, thou wilt despatch me is an
interesting literary work as it has numerous contrasting lines. The primary lines
express a melancholic mood, but is juxtaposed with the gleeful phrase Fa la la .
Weelkes emulates this the poem s tone through the use of word painting throughout
the music.

The first is evident in m. 3, when the bass, tenor, and alto sing Care , and a c seventh
diminished chord is sung. It then breaks off, and is resolved into a B major chord.
Nevertheless, dissonance is portrayed in this word again when the soprano joins in at
m. 7 and an augmented c triad is sung. This is significant in delineating the sadness
of the piece. This first section continues with this technique, oscillating between
dissonance and consonance. A highly consonant area is in the following section
starting at m. 15, rightfully expressing the joy that music can bring. In m. 23, there
is a dissonance for a one beat duration before the piece returns to the melancholic
text. A dissonance is heard again in a c diminished chord between the top three parts
in m. 26 in the word deadly , bringing back the text s tension. The dissonances
become less prevalent as the piece moves into the next section discussing happiness.
Properly, the first part ends on a major chord, providing an uplifting end and
supporting the triumphant mood the text brings.
The beginning of the piece, mm1 14, has longer rhythms in which notes mainly
fluctuate between half note or whole note values. The only occurrence of textual and
rhythmic alignment is in mm 4 5 between the bass and alto in the word despatch . So
not only do these long notes emphasize the melancholic mood of the text, but so does

CAREER DEVELOPMENT As individuals everyone is interested in their own
career, it s very unlikely that a person will spend more years with a single
employer, especially when their work life begins. Due to this career development is
the responsibility of the employer. Most people like to move to new areas of work
due to better opportunities, chances of working with particular people and
commuting time. As a result of this employers must analysis what is offered by the
other employers and ensuring that employees appreciate what they are been given. A
method used to retain and establish a large group of employees with international

9. Similarities Between Neo-Capitalism And Neo-Liberalism
Despite the fact that there are some similarities between neo realism and neo
liberalism, it shall be the differences between these theories that will be the focus of
my attention, as it will help me to determine more rigorously which of the arguments
is the more convincing. The points of comparison shall be the effects of the
anarchical international system, and thus, the extent to which cooperation can be
achieved, the importance of relative and absolute gains, the conflict between state
capabilities and interests, and finally the importance of institutions and regimes. It is
important to note that neo realism is often also called structural realism, and neo
liberalismneo liberal institutionalism. As the question prefers to call the theories neo
realism and neo liberalism, this is what I shall do throughout.
The first thing to consider is the effects of the international system, and what this
means for the prospects of cooperation. Lamy asserts that both [neo realism and neo
liberalism] agree that the international system is anarchic . I question that the ... Show

I feel they are right to assert that cooperation will only occur if sates want it to, and
do not agree that it is always within state interest to cooperate. I am certain that
relative gains are an important consideration for certain states and cannot be
ignored. It appears that states focus on the capabilities of other states because these
are easier to measure than intentions. Nor am I convinced that institutions will
continue to play a vital role in checking the actions of states. To put it another way,
maybe, as all liberalisms are prone to do, the problem with neo liberalism is that it
focuses on how the world ought to be, rather than how it is. I happen to believe that
neo realist focus on anarchy as the dominating force in the international system is a
more accurate reflection of the world we live
10. The World Is Flat, By Thomas Friedman
In our world of a frequently mutable economy, there is no such thing as a sure
thing. The rollercoaster effect of falling and rising expenses and needs for jobs are
continuously changing as our times become more and more digital. Americans are
finding that the life they cherish so dearly may be gone in a matter of seconds.
Most however, lack the concept of why everything seems to be slipping away.
People have become too comfortable riding of the coat tails of innovators that
paved the way before them and they are finding themselves lost in the shuffle. The
rest of the world is catching up and in the words of Thomas Friedman, in The
World is Flat, [we] simply are not educating, or even interesting, enough of our own
young people in advanced math, science, and engineering (349). Therefore, we must
combat this issue at hand. America has grown idle due to the achievements of
previous ideas and although we have been amusing ourselves, bathing in our own
narcissism, we are no longer at the top, no longer a positive anomaly. We aren t
producing skilled and knowledgeable workers to keep our superiority, which is a
direct result of an extremely problematic educationsystem. Thus, in order to repair
the damages done and the severe amount of problems in the American education
system, a better functioning national system of higher educationmust be established. I
suggest that vocational/technological schools should be combined to join in with the
free community collegeproposal. This
11. Vladimir Putin Chapter 1 Summary
Summary: Chapters 3 4 Vladimir Putin s move from St. Petersburg to Moscow
signaled the beginning of the Putin era. Throughout his time in the KGB and as
first deputy mayor of St. Petersburg, he was rarely ever seen as a man of high
honor and prestige. His positions included advancing the agendas of those around
him, but he rarely ever aimed to advance his own career. Despite this lack of
ambition, Putin s admirable personality traits and various political connections led
to his accelerated rise to power. Upon being officially inaugurated on May 7, 2000,
Putin s boldness and authority acted as a saving grace for Russiaand its people.
Throughout the 1990s, the state of Russia s economy, politics, and society as a whole
was in constant turmoil and disarray. President Yeltsin campaigned on the basis of
drastic economic change that would transform Russia from a bleak totalitarian past to
a bright and promising democratic future. In order to fight the stagflation caused by
the Soviet s command economy, Yeltsin enacted measures of shock therapy to slowly
reconstruct the failing economy. These measures included removing government
price controls on numerous products, lifting wage controls on various jobs, cutting
military spending to spare the budget deficit, and handing out vouchers to citizens in

summoned to Moscow in 1996 and involved himself in Kremlin politics. Yeltsin,
immediately impressed with his professional mannerism, vast knowledge of facts,
and unbreakable loyalty, appointed Putin to deal with Russia s most pressing issue at

12. Acne Research Paper
cne cases are an exceptionally typical and distressing condition which impacts the
skin s oil glands. The small holes within your skin (pores) connect to oil glands
beneath the skin. These glands create an oily compound called sebum. The pores
get connected to the glands by a canal known as a follicle. In the follicles, oil carries
dead skincells to the surface of the skin. A thin hair also grows through the follicle
and out to the skin. Once the follicle of a skin gland clogs up, the pimple begins
developing. Most pimples are found normally on the face, neck, back, chest and
shoulders but they can develop practically anywhere. Acne can be unsightly and in
rare cases permanent skin damage however it s never deadly. Acne develops once the
hair, sebum and skin cells clump with each other to form a plug. A bacterium
develops inside the plug which causes inflammation. When the plug starts wearing

In the North Pacific there are five species of salmon. Each kind of salmon is
known by different names like, Chinook (king), sockeye (red), coho (silver), chum
(dog), and pink (humpback). These are all valuable, but the Chinook or King Salmon
were the prize of the Columbia River system. In the late 1800s about 2,500,000 cans
of salmonnearly filled a cannery store and storage rooms in Astoria, Oregon. Fresh,
salted, dried, and smoked were the only options for preserving and eating salmon
before the spread of canning technology in the mid 1800s.
George Hume, his brother William and their friend Andrew Hapgood established the
first cannery on the Columbia River in 1866. Hapgood, Hume and Company packed

14. Effective Communication And Effective Communication
Effective Communication is vital in health and social care context. It enables us to
develop good relationships with the service users and to anyone that is involved
within health and social care organisation (Grove, 2012).
As a new care worker, I was asked to shadow my co worker at work. The service
user is Mrs. M., a 60 yr. old female diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (MD), she
gets easily frustrated and anxious due to her difficulty in communicating verbally.
Though I was slightly nervous, I was relaxed and has a smile on my face when I
knock on her door. I said, Good evening, Ms. M, may I come in? I waited for her
reply. She looked at me, smiled and nodded. So, I went inside and said, Thank you .
In this scenario, I applied the humanistic theory based on Carl Roger s Person
Centred Approached (1902 1987) that states that having an environment that provides
substance, acceptance and empathy helps the person to reach their true potentials
(Rogers, 1977). My role as a care worker is to engage in a manner that promotes
individual respect (Alzheimer s Society, 2011). The benefits of this method are clear
through the polite and professional conversation I had with the service user. Mrs. M
felt empowered when the manner of communication we had given her the feeling of
being in controlled of her environment.
When I introduced myself to Mrs. M, I applied the communication cycle theory
developed by sociologist Michael Argyle (1972), it is where the individual

you will be given the upper hand in the job market. The competition to find what is
called a good paying job is increasing, and is getting close to impossible to find a
high paying job without at least a bachelor s degree. according to data from the
Economic Policy Institute, graduates earned 98 percent more annually than non

In 1981, a large suicide bombing occurred in Lebanon during a civil war between
Christians and Muslims, which was known to be the world s first largest suicide
bombing to occur in mankind. Indeed, ever since that tragic experience the world
has seen a rise of such tactics over the following decades. With the bombings that
have occurred over time, researchers came up with the conclusion that most of these
bombings are caused by adolescents. For instance, Patrick Markey asserts in a 2016
article that Teenagers are easier to recruit for suicide missions (Markey, Child Suicide

19. Relaxed Hair Is Better Than Natural Hair Essay
Many people have compared natural hair and relaxed as both being healthy. I
strongly agree that natural hair is healthy for various reasons. I agreed to that
because you not using the chemicals that you use for relaxed hair. For natural hair all
you need is water, wild growth and moisturizer. Relaxed hairmake your hair look very
thin also you using perms which has chemicals that s not healthy for your hair. Some
women think relaxed hair is better than natural. Why is that ? It s because they think
when your hair natural it s very unlikeable. Natural hair has all the components to
grow healthy, long, and thick hair.
Natural hair does grow healthier than natural hair because you do not use
chemicals to harm your hair. Black women discover their natural kinky hair.
Natural hair is thicker because your hair follicles are textured. Yes I can say when
you wash your hair and try to detangle it, it s a challenge to do. Natural hair is
healthier because it doesn t stripped away your hair. With natural hair keep your
scalp moisturized. Natural hair curl pattern is very pretty. I think going natural
gives your hair a better chance to grow since it isn t being damaged by chemicals.
Relaxed hair is bad because some people flat iron they hair every two weeks, that s
not good because heat can break your hair off.
Many women spend so much money on there relaxed hair. Relaxed hair is very
expensive when you go to the salon every 2 weeks. After a women decides to go

20. Spanish Religion
Despite many Spanish cultures being known for their religious drive, there are many
circumstances where the traditional Catholic worship of God creates a patriarchal
and fearful view of the world that condemns people of lower social classes. In Under
the Feet of Jesus, frequent themes where characters believe that misfortunes are
actually punishments from Godcasts traditional Catholicism in a negative light and
rejects the idea of God as worthy of worship. Ana Castillo also emphasizes this
rejection in So Far From God, in which la Loca is resurrected much in the same
way as Jesus but casted out of society even by the Priest, later choosing to follow
more cultural and female centric religions of belief to pursue her identity. Pineda

After his initial shock and rejection of his disfigured face, Helio falls into
unconscious once again, where he would remember feeling nothing, nothing at all,
in which Pineda reduces Helio to a pre natal state of featurelessness (Pineda 21).
This creates the displacement between the body and soul in Helio, leading to his
identity struggle and lack of assistance from society. However, over the course of the
novel, Helio slowly degrades in feature from his wound until he no longer appears
human, and becomes more of a monster. This transformation makes him become
something nonhuman, and later reject God in this new image in church Dust thou
art, to dust return, he can hear the priest chanting through the open door of the
Bomfim...I believe in the resurrection of the body...He smiles wryly to himself,
(Pineda 164). Since Helio s transformation turns him into something no longer
human, Helio experiences not only a complete identity loss but also a loss of
connection to God, since it is often argued that mankind s only religious relation is
through the human body created in the image of God. Once Helio no longer has the
semblance he loses touch with religion and God, especially after living in a society
that could not accept his features and refused to help him mend his face into
something more human.
21. Positive Benefits Of Bilingual Education
There have been many informative studies information regarding the advantages of
learning two languages. Bilingualism is a continually growing issue in the United
States. Being bilingual as a child enhances knowledge so steps taken to promote
bilingual education are very important. Children are not exposed to bilingualism even
though the benefits have been well established.
Dual Language education is increasing throughout the United States giving students at
a young age an advantage over their monolingual peers. Different research studies
resulted in a major success by proving that bilingual children outperform
monolinguals in a wide array of cognitive and language based tasks (Wallstrum 16).
Dual language immersion is defined as fifty percent of the non English is used for
the instructional part of the day, and the other fifty percent is spoken in English. The
purpose of these immersion schools is to promote fluency in the foreign language
while also performing at their grade level in that language.
Parents are the main reason why kids in these modern times are only primarily
speaking English. Many people have a strong opinion against the teaching of
bilingualism in America, especially starting at a young age. The reason for this is
their own ignorance. They fail to seek further information on the topic and see the
positive benefits that result. The benefits of bilingual education surprisingly are not
tolerated by everyone, and that is a big reason as to why it is not

In life, what we perceive tends to show misconception in how the thought plays out.
A good example would be the character Jay Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald s
American classic: The Great Gatsby. Gatsby was unable to distinguish between his
love for Daisy, a reality, versus the illusion that he could recapture her love by
establishing and inventing a fraudulent past. He believed he could repeat the past,
and acquire a flaunting wealth. In the novel, Jay Gatsbyseems incompetent in

Following the war, Gatsby attempted to receive an education by studying at
Oxford. From this point on, Gatsby dedicates him self to gain the love of Daisy
back. He did this by acquiring millions of dollars, a gaudy mansion in West Egg,
and his extravagant parties. As the group of friends, Nick Caraway, Jay Gatsby,
Daisy Buchanan, Tom Buchanan, and Jordan Baker, travel into the city, Gatsby
and Daisy make their love for each other obvious. Daisy and Gatsby ride in a car,
separate from the group, to the city. Gatsby has the belief that Daisy is truly in
love with him, and not with her husband. Upon arrival to the hotel, the group
began sitting and conversing, when Gatsby tells Tom, She never loved you. This
is referring to Daisy and Tom s marriage. This is where a heated dispute begins and
Daisy finally explains to Gatsby that, Rich girls don t marry poor boys. Another
illusion that Gatsby holds is his conviction he can repeat the past. An example of
this would be the way Gatsby had acted after returning from the war. He acted as if
nothing had happened, and if he had not left. Gatsby states, Can t repeat the past,
why of course you can! Gatsby s illusion of repeating the past runs very closely
with his illusion of Daisy s love. Gatsby believes that it would be perfectly normal
and acceptable for Daisy to tell Tom that she had never loved him. He is completely

23. Horror Movies Are All the same
Horror movies generally are all the same. They all have been based off of
something that has already happened or a previous movie. Society has paid to be
entertained by these gruesome stories that we all truly fear. Before movies, people
would purchase books of similar traumatic events to read in their spare time for
amusement. It has been said by the Filmmakers IQ s horror filmlesson (2012), that
writers such as Bram Stoker created graphic novels that would grab the audience s
attention for years to come. But the horror movie, The House Of The Devil (1896),
was noted as being the first ever horror movie. And as the years pasted, the industry
grew and became stronger. But Ryan Koo (2013) stated that it was not truly until after

Stoker s heir still ended up suing, and the courts ordered all copies of Nosferatu be

story of Dracula is continually told and being remade even today. It is something
that has always frightened people, so the industry continues to build off it. The
older generation of writers such as Bram Stoker and Mary Shelly are known for
German Expressionism. German Expressionism is responsible for creating The
Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, which is still considered one of the greatest silence films
created in the era. Ryan Koo (2013) claims the film also took credit for being one
of the first to example story board and having a twist ending. Once the film had
been created it lead people to explore the possibilities of the art of horror.
Following the creation of The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari was the making of The

State Writers Institute (2011) say it started with a man by the name of Paul
Wegener. He was fascinated by the legend of the Golem. The story spoke of a giant
clay monster that saved Pragues Jewish citizens for an emperor that believed they
were ritually killing children. Gothic Horror has to be one of the best forms of art.
Which is probably why film markers continue to go back to it. It played on both the

The excerpt from Mary Oliver s Building the House serves as a way to describe
what happens during the poetry writing process. Although Mary Oliver believes that
writing poetry is hard work, she uses extended metaphor, juxtaposition, and point of
view to describe the writing process in comparison of building a house, which shows
that Oliver sees poetryas something that involves mental labor which is a different
challenge than physical labor . Through the use of extended metaphor, Mary Oliver
is allowed to express both the mentality and physicality when writing a poem, which
is able to show the differences and similarities by comparison. The extended
metaphor works to compare the process of writing poetry to that of building a house,

International s competitive advantage hinges on having a healthy liquidity position
and having a diversified brand portfolio. MGM Resort International has to maintain
a good liquidity position so they can continue to invest in its operations and
branding which are considered to be their core capability. The first core competency
that I will discuss is high quality customer service . So how will MGM Resort

maintain a strong brand portfolio. If MGM does all of those things, the result should
be high quality customer service. (Luiza
26. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Friction Pile
FOUNDATIONS Friction piles
What is a Friction pile?
In friction piles the load is resisted by friction between the surface of the pile and the
surrounding soil. A pure friction pile is usually quite long due to the fact that the load
carrying capacity is a function of the shaft being in contact with the soil.
When would a friction pile be used?
This kind of pile is used when there are no signs of hard rock materials present at a
reasonable depth. (A softer material for the pile to drive through)
Advantage
Where sands of medium to low density are found, friction piles can be used to
increase the density and therefore the strength.
Disadvantage

It is used in areas where the soil expands and contracts due to the weather conditions.
Post tensioned slabs can also be used in parking garages and stadiums because it is
more economic in a sense that is uses a smaller depth but still creates the same
strength.
Advantage
Smaller depths for the concrete with the same strength

The advertisement created by Emily Dai and I, Marissa Hanzlik, covered the
realm of the waverers. We advertised for Virgil Travel to visit the outside of the
gates of hell. Emily and I chose to do a commercial because it would give us more
of an opportunity to be creative and have fun with the project. The target audience for
our ad are sports fans, particularly those who enjoy attending the events in person.
Characters we chose to highlight in our commercial were Moses, Celestine V, and
Charon. Moses is included to advertise to those living in Limbo and to offer
entertainment to those in the first circle. We also included Moses because is well
known and those on earth are will likely recognize his name. Moses endorsement ...

Celestine s costume consisted of a papal hat and a necklace with a cross to help
portray his character as a pope. Charon wore a large black cloak to show how he
takes souls of the deceased from the livid shore and guides them across the dark
river. Also, Charon is wearing masks arranged to depict his flaming eyes. The
tormented shades are wearing athletic clothing to show that they are competitors in
a race. Props that we used included a book, a scythe, a cross, a banner, and plastic
insects. The book, used as a bible, and the cross were used to help portray the
holiness of the characters. The scythe was used by Charon to represent the recent
death of the souls waiting to cross. The banner was used as a sign at the entrance of
the gates of hell to set the location. The plastic insects were thrown at the
competitors to represent the tormenting of the waverers by wasps and flies. We
chose to begin our commercial at the stairs outside of school to symbolize the
entrance to a stadium or coliseum. Emily and I decided to film Celestine in the
cafeteria to portray him in an arena like were the race would take place. Our
original plan was to film Celestine s scene in the sophomore and junior commons
but they were blocked off and filled with chairs. We filmed Charon on one side of
the hallway to portray him as being on the shore of the Acheron. Eli Greer, David
Winters, and I acted in this commercial. Eli was chosen to be Celestine V because
he displayed the athleticism and attitude needed to portray his character. David
was chosen for Moses because he was able to capture the stoic nature of his
character and was able to present the change of emotion that we were looking for
from his character. I was chosen to play Charon because I was willing to wear the
two masks needed to represent his flaming eyes. Members of the cross country team

1.INTRODUCTION
1.1 Definition
Retrofitting is the process of modifying something after it has been manufactured.
Preparing a structure in scientific manner to withstand the forces of natural hazards.
Up gradation of existing building for increasing the resistance against natural hazards.
1.2 Repair, Restoration, Retrofitting
A. Repairs
Actions taken for patching up superficial defects
Include cosmetic works only
B. Retrofit
To outfit building, with newly developed or previously unavailable parts or equipment
C. Rehabilitation
It is the act of restoring something to its original state
1.3 Necessity of Retrofitting
The retrofitting becomes necessary to increase the performance of structures
including those encountered loss of strength due to deterioration or which have
crossed their expected life. The success of retrofitting depends on the actual cause and
the measures adopted to prevent its further deterioration. The process involves repair,
retrofit, renovation and even part reconstruction

Mcgraw
Humble and Kind In today s midst of commotion, many of us seem to forget to
stop, take a breath, and consider the moments that escape our everyday lives. A
result of this includes memories fading due to our hectic schedules. Soon we find
ourselves alone with no one to share our success with. Friends become people
whom you pass by in the shopping mall, or have stalked their pages on social media
and accustom yourself to saying you developed a friendship. Familyevents become a
time to connect with others solely through a reunion once a year. These examples
are few and far between the habitual factors each of us display day in and day out.
It is necessary to set aside an hour of your day to take action and become humble and

I think that he sends a message to an abundance of people in the song. He stresses
his concerns to a wide variety of audiences, in that we all forget to take a moment
to consider other s feelings and make a difference. A stanza in particular that shows
this is: hold the door, say please, say thank you/ don t steal, don t cheat, and don t

opinion, he speaks the truth and lectures that you must hold on to your morals. I
have noticed that many people forget or are too careless to think about others.
Simply holding a door for someone as they walk out, or saying thank you for a
generous act goes a long way. I know I try to make someone s day any chance I
can, I just wish others would put this into mind as well. It reminds us of the
important life lessons and unwritten rules. The song also stresses that although you
may have priorities, don t let those blind you from taking time to focus on others
such as your lifelong friends or family. I have been a victim, as well as been guilty of
participating in these actions. We all become so wrapped up in ourselves.
Sometimes we forget how lucky we are to have been given the friends and family we

committed suicide just two weeks earlier. The book itself focuses on many important
issues experienced by high schoolers today including bullying and suicide. Jay Asher
makes sure to teach the reader important lessons that can be applied to things that we
do every day. The most meaningful lesson that Jay Asher is trying to teach the reader
is that although our actions may seem small and insignificant, they have much bigger
consequences than we would imagine.

Another example of how this lesson is developed is when Hannah explains to her
audience that by messing with a single part of her life, you mess with her entire

just that part. Unfortunately, you can t be that precise and selective. When you
mess with one part of a person s life, you re messing with their entire life (Asher 203

that their actions have such an impact on Hannah s feelings. Therefore, she makes

Hannah, though it seemed meaningless at the moment, really did have a huge impact

When a disease strikes a herd it can create stress, not only for the herd, but also to
the workers and grower. For example, when porcine epidemic diarrhea virus

eliminated according to NCBI. Millions of piglets lost their life due to this
coronavirus. To better understand the hardships the swine industry endured, the
first two week that the virus was present, there was a 0% chance of piglets
surviving. Week 3, the survival rate increased to 25%, week 4 survival rate became

By introducing that new pig into the herd (s)he must be isolated from the herd for 4
weeks to become acclimated to the challenges that individual will face as well as
prevent her from possibly infecting the herd with disease causing agents. The
cleanliness of the environment and ventilation attribute to the cumulative risk of a
disease. If pigs are housed in a dirty environment there is a possible increase in
exposure to an agent, which plays into ventilation, too much air can help the
disease spread and not enough ventilation can cause an increase in a specific
pathogen to increase within a certain area and lead to fomites. Another way to
reduce the risk of disease is to practice all in, all out, this helps break disease. In
addition, by not mixing older pigs with younger pig, eliminating the ability for older
pigs to infect younger pigs.
After a disease in the herd is detected there are several ways to obtain a plan of
action. First and foremost the present disease must be understood be able to
effectively and efficiently treat it. First, a worker must understand what disease
challenges that herd faces and have any of those challenges arisen and is a challenge
surfacing? To make this conclusion an evaluation of the signs the pigs are expressing

Strategic managementis the planning, development, and implementation of the

An entrepreneur offers unique products at lower prices than those of the competitors.
In developing the core strategies, an entrepreneur should evaluate the markets and
analyze their strengths and weaknesses. He or she should establish the opportunities
and threats in the markets in order to strategically place his or her business. After
carefully choosing the strategy, the entrepreneur introduces a global program
whereby he or she introduces the homogeneous product and adjusts it into the local
market. He or she should balance the local needs and the overall global strategies. In
executing a good global program, an entrepreneur should be flexible and standard.
Moreover, the entrepreneur should consider the local markets cultures so as to know
which products fit the local markets well. Additionally, he or she should also ensure
that the products provided are of great quality. Consequently, managers of an
entrepreneurial venture should apply and regulate a global effort by relating well and
facilitating proper flow of information. Communication should be efficient and
effective among the organizational structures. The managers can also hold meetings
and conferences to discuss the various issues facing the organization (Morschett,
Schramm Klein, Zentes, 2015).Combining the internal strengths of a business with
the plans for expansion into the markets provides a strong strategy for an
entrepreneurial venture. Therefore, a firm should evaluate its internal strengths by

adults and young children published by Psychological Science authors Vanessa
LoBue and Judy S. DeLoache analyze the evidence that children detect threatening
stimuli more promptly than other types of stimuli. In this experiment, adults and
children were presented with images with both threatening and non threatening
stimuli. The images were presented on a touch screen and participants were asked to
press on the threatening stimuli. The objective of this experiment was to determine
whether people could detect stimuli that are evolutionarily pertinent early in life. The
hypothesis is that the threatening stimuli will be detected more quickly that the other
types of non threatening stimuli. Three experiments were performed on both adults
and children, and both detected snakes more rapidly than the other aspects of the
image, including butterflies and frogs. This research study contributed to
psychological research advancement by providing evidence of better visual detection
of threatening stimuli due to evolutionary relevance. Moreover, the research findings
discussed in the article Detecting the snake in the grass: Attention to fear‐relevant
stimuli by adults and young children by authors Vanessa LoBue and Judy S.

42. A Brief Note On Professional Counseling And Its Unique...
Society lives in the present. Society also plans for and worries about the future.
History, however, is not as easily seen in society s daily activities. It is simply the
study of the past (American Historical Association, 2004). It seems that history is
believed to be less important when compared to the other two tenses. History,
however, is composed of individuals and happenings that have helped mold the
presenttimeperiod. In other words, there would not be a present or futurewithout a
history. Everything has a past, including the profession of counseling. Professional
counseling, and its unique disciplines, has a past that is over a century old. As a
result, it has developed into a distinguishably important profession.
According to the American Counseling Association (2013), professional counseling
is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups
to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals. In this present
time, counseling is a well defined term. It is the act of working with clients on
strategies to overcome obstacles and personal challenges that the clients are facing
(American Counseling Association, 2013). Unfortunately, this has not always been
the case. Counseling has not always been viewed as a true profession. Nor has it
always been clearly defined.
As one explores the history of professional counseling, one will see that its journey
begun in the late 1890s. Beginning about a hundred and twenty
43. Essay On Annotated Bibliography
I found that creating an annotated bibliography was incredibly useful and
important in helping me organize my research. The assignment forced me to keep
track of my sources. I like to scan through journals quickly and take notes on what
information I d like to revisit based on titles and headlines. My method is great for
finding research, but the downside is that I can sometimes lose track of the
properly cited source for the information. I think this is incredibly valuable because
of the real problems that exist due to plagiarism. As I was researching, I looked
only at two initial items to determine if I would continue to investigate the article. I
wanted to see if the authors had graduate degrees and if the article (or other
information) was published in an academic journal or respectively similar format.
In some sense, I took a breadth first approach to collecting information. I then went
into a deeper search for credibility after I had compiled a list of twelve or more
articles. I looked at the references and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study was conducted in India and it was full of interesting evidence for linking
children s food preferences and even levels of attachment to food based on viewing
advertisments on television. The problem was that all of the authors listed did not
immediately appear to have academic degrees. In fact no affiliations, references,
accreditations, or degrees were listed. I was really upset about this because I
enjoyed reading the abstract and first page of the article. I discarded the article, but
not because I didn t think the information was accurate and scientifically valid. I felt
that the extra time spent validating the authors credentials would impede other
avenues of fruitful research. I also felt that if this one article came to such
conclusions, that certainly authentic and visibly credible research exists to say the
same thing or disprove
44. The Contributions Of The Renaissance Period In The 14th...
During the 14th century, Europe experienced famine, disease, death and major
changes within the church and papacy. Kingdoms consolidated and the influence the
Pope held over politics waned. Amid these crises, the people galvanized and made
major advancements in what would come to be known as the Renaissance period.
In 1301 King Philip IV ruled the Holy Roman empire in southern France. He
employed civil servants rather than barons to govern, breaking away from the feudal
system that had been in place and leading the county towards centralized
administration. A feud between Phillip and PopeBoniface VII would lead to the
French control of the papacy when the seat of power was moved to Avignon.
After the conviction of a papal legate at the beginning of the century, Pope Boniface
VII urged Phillip to give the Papacy jurisdiction over spiritual rule, espousing the
notion that the papacy was meant to govern kings and that churchmen were to be
held accountable to church courts rather than the royal court. Boniface also asserted
that church funds were not to be used for state purposes. This began a running
conflict between the King, who wanted total control, and the pope.
After the death of Boniface s successor, French pope Clement V was elected.
Clement decided to remain in France and held court in Avignon. Seven French popes
reigned there until pope Gregory XI finally returned to Rome.
The tension between the papacy and the kings of England and France was a recurrent
theme
45. The Problem Of A Student
Everyone has questions when starting something new, will I make it? what is this
all about, or am I even smart enough to even considering such a huge commitment?
These may be just a few that new students are asking themselves when they first
click that first button. How about the person that has not been in a school setting
in a number of years? If you have ever questioned any of these, you have come to
the right place. It seems that everyone has their mind set on accomplishing
something in there life. The difference now, is that a student has to have an
intentional mindset to become a successful in whatever area they are interested in.
Before the age of the computers people carried on face to face conversations. The
connections people made were relevant in so many ways that some may say that
has been lost in technology. This is not the debate, it is how far students are
willing to forge what is not comfortable and bring it to a level of relevance in their
own lives. When I read the part of this book and we started to break down what that
really was my thinking changed. My learning patterns are Sequence (30) Precision

thoughtthat was a bad thing, strong willed. I have spent the majority of my life
fighting battles that were never mine to fight. Being strong willed is does not mean
it defines who I am, only how I process the information that is given to me. And how

46. Moses And The Sin Of The Israelite
The actual painting is large suggesting that the artist really wants this painting to
be seen. Moses is seen as larger than life size but yet Moses character does not give
off an theatrical or a daring persona. In this painting the colors really give off the
feeling of the painting as well as it s structure. In the painting you see Mosesholding
the tablet over his head and the pitning stops right at his waist and there are boulders
constructing his path at all angles. The sin of the Israelitesis so large that Moses feels
conflicted when he has to destroyed the tablets, that god has constructed and
inscribed in. So the artist places Moses in a inadequate space. This overall outputs the
emotional aspect of the painting. The conflict that Moses

Quasars Since their discovery, the nature of quasars has been one of the most
intriguing and baffling problems as evidenced by the following quotations: the

Answering these basic questions may summarize much of the information regarding
Quasar.
What is the definition of a quasar? When radio telescopes were first turned on the
heavens, point sources of radio waves were discovered (along with spread out
regions of emission along our Milky Way). Astronomers using ordinary visible
light telescopes turned toward these radio points and looked to see what was there.
In some cases a supernova remnant was found, in others, a large star birth region,
in others a distant galaxy. But in some places where point sources of radio waves
were found, no visible source other than a stellar looking object was found (it looked
like a point of a star).
These objects were called the quasi stellar radio sources or quasars for short. Later,
it was found these sources could not be stars in our galaxy, but must be very far
away as far as any of the distant galaxies seen. We now think these objects are the
very bright centers of some distant galaxies, where some sort of energetic action is
occurring, most probably due to the presence of a supermassive black hole at the
center of that galaxy.
(Supermassive made up from a mass of about a billion solar masses.)
What do quasars have to do with black holes? It is thought the infall of matter into
the Supermassive black hole can result
48. The Jolly Corner, By Henry James
Henry James originally published The Jolly Corner, in 1908. He was a master in
short stories and novella. The Jolly Corner, was about a man who once lived in the
United States and migrated to Europe to pursue the love he once had for art, and
reject a life in his family business. The Aleph later was published by Jorge Luis
Borges in 1945, he wrote a story about, an aspiring sphere that, the author s
character, Carlos had in his basement, that allows one to see all places in the world
at all at once. Although these were two different stories they both had many
similarities and differences with theme and symbols. The Jolly Corner written by
Henry James, wrote about Spencer Brydon, who left the United States when he was
younger, to pursue his career in art and writing short stories, instead of staying and
helping run his family business. On Spencer return, to the United States, the text
mentioned that, Spencer found many of his family and friends was no longer alive;
moreover, he found that the people and environment had drastically changed. The
economic growth of a new industrialized society had resulted in the removal of older
buildings and welcomes the new infrastructures, making it hard for Spencer to
recognize his neighborhood. Another part of spencer pass also reappears; Alice a
long lost friend, she was the only person that took time to update Spencer on
everything he missed out on throughout the years. Throughout the text, Alice
accompanies Spencer as he
49. Nitz House Research Paper
The Nitz House
The Nitz house can be found by traveling down a bumpy, dusty dirt road. A ditch
full of swimming muskrats runs alongside this road and railroad tracks split it in
half separating two counties. At the end of this road is a long, wavy, blacktop
driveway that curves its way through the trees leading up to the house. At this point
the drive splits into two with the left side leading to the garage and the right side
leading past a totem pole, carved bears and lilac bushes on its way to the two
sheds. Small but thick woods engulf the property in such a way that it is easy to
lose oneself within it. Behind the home in the trees is a large, open expanse of
green grass which carpets the walk to the pond. Cattails curtain one end of the pond
giving shelter to the ducks and geese that call the pond their home. More trees fill in
the landscape on the backside of the pond giving a wonderful home to the majestic
deer and many bunny rabbits that seem to play all day long.
The house is made of logs and fits the woodland aesthetic perfectly. It is as if this
house was always here, almost like it grew out of the ground like the oaks, pines,
maples and cedars surrounding it. Stepping into the foyer from the garage brings you
to french doors that look out toward the pond. Soft, carpeted steps lead to a large
master bedroom, bathroom, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The back wall opposite the kitchen is laden with windows from top to bottom, the
view behind the house opening up like a landscape painting that one can become
totally engrossed in. One may find deer or other sorts of woodland creatures
wandering through the back yard be it day or night, filling up the greenery with
their presence. A fieldstone fireplace with a stone hearth clambers up the back wall
of the living room meeting with the sloped ceiling. The kitchen bar seats four people
and backs up nicely to a cozy, round oak
50. Clinical And Metabolic Features Of Non Hiv Related In...
We conducted a systematic review to summarize existing data on clinical and
metabolic features of non HIV related lipodystrophy in patients with age at onset of
lipodystrophy 18 years. This in depth review of 1,141 patients with lipodystrophy is
the largest pooled pediatric database, so far reported in literature. We have suggested
core and supportive clinical features of four major lipodystrophies (CGL, AGL, FPL
and APL) to help clinicians in diagnosis and management decisions (Figure 3).
Congenital generalized lipodystrophy is a rare autosomal recessive disorder (38).
Several CGL loci have been previously identified, AGPAT2 (CGL type 1), BSCL2
(CGL type 2), CAV1, and PTRF (CGL type 4), with the first two accounting for about

These patients can present with menstrual irregularities, hyperandrogenism and
polycystic ovaries. However, reproductive data were available on a limited number of
CGL patients.
In our review, the core clinical feature of CGL was generalized fat loss noted during
first 3 years of life and rarely during early adolescence (47). Supportive features
included acromegaloid appearance, hepatomegaly (because of hepatic steatosis)
(48), protuberant abdomen (due to organomegaly), and advanced bone age. Onset of
DM was during early childhood through adolescence, except in a group of 10
Brazilian CGL patients homozygous for a 1036 bp deletion in the AGPAT2 gene
(BSCL1 locus), as described by Gomes et al. (49) and a single patient in the NIH
lipodystrophy database (age at onset of DM 34 years). Gomes et al. reported mean
age at onset of DM as 25.67 В± 11.25 years in AGPAT2 group compared to 11.93 В±
8.29 years in BSCL2 (669insA Seipin) group (p=0.007) (49). Diabetes mellitus in
CGL was ketosis resistant, with higher insulin levels and higher insulin resistance
reported in BSCL2 than in AGPAT2 patients (49).
Acquired generalized lipodystrophy was characterized by female predominance.
Patients with AGL had normal fat distribution at birth, however developed
generalized loss of subcutaneous adipose tissue during childhood or puberty.
Preceding infectious illnesses including Neisseria meningitidis, measles, varicella and
mumps (3,50,51) were associated
51. Silence And The Avoidance Of Persecution
Silence and the Avoidance of Persecution
In the film Silence, the characters of Kichijiro, Rodrigues, and Ferreira illustrate the
idea that a person s outward actions fail at conveying their inward beliefs.
Throughout the film, Kichijiro consistently claims that he is a Christian but then
denies Christ whenever serious opposition arises. However, the film uses the
discovery of Kichijiro s crucifix at the end of the film and his continuous declarations
to Father Rodrigues of, Forgive me Father for I have sinned, as a method of
suggesting that even though Kichijiro outwardly apostated many times, he still had a
strong faith on the inside. Moreover, the character of Rodrigues extends the film s
theme through the line, Even if God had been silent my whole life to this very day
everything I do, everything I ve done, speaks of Him, and through his possession of a
crucifix when his body underwent cremation. The aforementioned quote and the
possession of the crucifix illustrate that even though Rodrigues committed the act of
apostasy he never truly apostatized in his heart. Finally, when the fallen priest
Ferreira mentions to Rodrigues, Only our Lord can judge your heart, it evidences that
even though Ferreira openly apostated and helped the Japanese in their attempt at
attaining Rodrigues apostasy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, Ferreira s proclamation serves as the perfect representation of the film
s theme because it reinforces the importance of a person s internal thought and

in the system of describing your chicken as free range and it isn t this would spread
and the reputation and loyalty of your company may dissolve. Also if your chicken
are actually free range you can use social media to show that which may bring more
customer because of the practice you promote.
Another possible course of action could be not promoting yourself as free range , this
may improve profit margins but at what cost? We human have a standard or set
morals we follow. Such as killing is wrong. Is profit everything? Would you kill
someone for a million dollars and forget your morals and ethics? Can you live with
murdering someone for money or lying to your consumer for a small margin of
profit? Your company isn t failing why put it in a risk to possibly go inexistence.
A third course of action could be getting the loop hole as I call it completely
destroyed. As a business perspective this may cause possible profit greater than
20%, if your company was to create a legislation that makes this practice illegal
possible consumer may see this as someone who is for the animals and that you
actually care. Your company would also get free publicity from
53. The Effects Of Climate Change On Social, Political, And...
In Egypt, the same word for bread is life. Food security and clean water are
indispensable to survival, and how do societies react when exogenous variables
prohibit access to the basic staples of life? Manfred Steger speaks briefly on
globalization and environmental degradation and fails to draw real conclusions about
the impact of climatechange on social, political, and economic stability. In Steger s A
Brief Introduction to Globalization, he contends that, how people view their natural
environment depends to a great extent on their cultural milieu... [And] the US
dominated culture industry seeks to convince its global audience that the meaning
and chief value of life can be found in the limitless accumulation of material
possessions (2003, p. 86). He later contends that a revision of our current extractivist
oriented cultural regime must occur as a response to our pleading planet, as if only
culture were to blame (2003, p. 92). This paper underlines the connectedness of
climate changeand social unrest and uses case studies from the Arab Spring to color
the arching narrative that the awakening was catalyzed and intensified by climate
change.
Egypt and Unsuspecting Syria
The normal consensus is that rising food prices helped create the conditions for the
Arab Spring (Klein 2014). Laying the data out suggests a stronger correlation of
climate change and revolution sensitivity. Thomas L. Friedman, three time Pulitzer
Prize winner and columnist for the New York Times

education and language, life can change drastically. But how a personuses their

these thing were very insulting to Eliza. And even in act 4 Mr. Higgins said she

56. Technology Transfer and Process Safety Management
1.Introduction The purpose of this project is to investigate to any topic relevant to
Technology Transfer. In this report I will be investigating on Process safety
management. Safety on work place is one of the priority element management of the
manufacture put in front, should fix the rules to follow, monitoring. Some area where
the standards have to be applied such as in chemicals sections, transportation of
materials and fabricated metal products, gas, electric services. Incident
communication is about sharing of information about incident management between
the decision makers and regulators and stakeholders. Parties can communicate at any
stage of the risk management process. The output/result of incident management
process should be appropriately communicated and documented for the future
reference. Process safety management has tools available to identify the hazardous
and assess the incidents such as Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA). The process
safety management is important to employees, contractors, customers. Incidents
continue to occur in various industries that use highly hazardous chemicals which
may be toxic, reactive, flammable, or explosive, or may exhibit a combination of
these properties. 2.Background In 1991 OSHA (Occupation safety and healthy
application) developed process safety management (PSM) and EPA respectively
released the standards PSM and RMP that applies to those companies that are affected
by that standards.[1]Recent major disasters
58. Infidelity Is Not That Big Of A Deal
Infidelity is a tough subject to talk about among people throughout the world. It is
commonly known as a violation of trust between married couples and can be
considered a touchy subject. As examined in the article by Emily Barrow there are
often cases of adultery related to people who are considered happy. These people
are faithful for decades but one day they decide to cross a line that they have never
crossed before and risk everything they have in their relationship. Although some
people have a hard time explaining their reasoning and often time s relationships
end throughout the article there are several points to defend infidelity and explain
how it is not that big of a deal. My personal opinion is that it should be considered
unacceptable not because of any religious matters but out of genuine respect and
love for your partner you should keep the promise you made when you were
married. Within this paper I will investigate the concept of infidelity and why
people decide to cheat on their significant other when everything is perfect at home
and when times are tough. Through the use of several economic concepts learned
throughout the course I will apply them to my research and establish a final
conclusion that will aid me in weather I agree or disagree with the authors analysis.
Infidelity is the largest opprobrium around the world. It is well know that adultery
will more than often lead to divorce yet Esther Perel a well known psychotherapist,
states that divorce is
