Beauty Contest Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of beauty contests is a task that navigates through a myriad of
perspectives, controversies, and societal nuances. At its core, this topic demands an exploration
of beauty standards, the commodification of appearance, and the impact of such contests on
individuals and society as a whole. The difficulty arises not merely from the need to articulate
personal opinions, but also to present a balanced and well-researched view that encapsulates the
diverse opinions surrounding beauty contests.
One must delve into the historical evolution of beauty pageants, tracing their roots and
understanding how they have evolved over time. This requires sifting through an extensive array
of literature, academic papers, and sociological studies to gain a comprehensive understanding of
the subject. Moreover, the essay should address the controversial aspects of beauty contests, such
as objectification, societal pressures, and the perpetuation of narrow beauty standards.
Balancing the essay with both positive and negative perspectives while maintaining a coherent
and logical flow poses an additional challenge. Addressing the potential empowerment or
disempowerment of participants, the impact on self-esteem, and societal perceptions requires
careful consideration of various viewpoints.
In essence, writing an essay on beauty contests involves navigating a complex terrain where
personal opinions must be substantiated by factual information and critical analysis. The
challenge lies not only in expressing one's thoughts eloquently but also in presenting a holistic
view that acknowledges the multi-faceted nature of the topic.
On a final note, for those seeking assistance with similar essays or a diverse range of topics, it's

Middle Colonies Dbq
After reading chapter two it seemingly became clear that the colony I would have
preferred to live in is the middle colonies specifically, Philadelphia established from
Quaker Pennsylvania. The middle colonies were known to be unique due to being
vastly diverse and tolerant of others. Pennsylvania, largely consisted of a group
known as, Quakers, Shi Tindall noted that ...they became the most influential of many
radical religious groups that emerged from the turbulence of the English Civil War (p.
58). Pennsylvania s tolerance towards all people motivated them to believe that all
people could experience God through the Inner Light. This group had gone through
immense persecution, banishment, torture, and with this being said extreme pacifism

We should continually seek feedback to improve customer satisfaction. Part of being
a good manager is to continually evaluate our own practice and lead by example. It
is very important to continually develop our own skills and those of our staff
members. I regularly attend as many Hairdressing seminars and exhibitions as
possible each year to keep myself up to date and motivated.
I find that by holding a training class in the salon one evening per week gives every
team member a chance to show their individual skills and overall quality of their
own work. It allows me their manager to pick up on their strengths and weaknesses
and very often I pick up something new from watching them.
This is information that can be used when doing staff appraisals. It shows me areas
of improvement that are needed for each individual so I can plan relevant courses for
them which will all help the overall customer service offered in my salon. Staff
reviews take place annually in the salon and allows us to look at the standard of
work over the past year and set targets for the year ahead. It allows me to give
feedback to each staff member individually and I find it strengthens the relationship
between us. It also gives employees the chance to tell me what they think and what
their aspirations are for the future. Task 2

Strength Training
The benefit of strength and strength training for footballers is well supported by
research. For example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian
professionals perform extra weight training during the season. Compared to a
control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the players improved their
kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger players
outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced
injury risks. He recommends that leg strength in particular is developed, especially in
the quadriceps and hamstrings, to help stabilise the knee joint, which is the most
frequently injured joint in football. Apor (1998)[3], a Hungarian researcher who has

These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of
lengthening muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called
reversible action or rebound exercises. The training effort increases the force
production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at faster speeds than
weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting
and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8
repetitions for each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and
speed of the movement is the priority. The other training element that is required for
improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself. This should be done with maximum
efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between runs should be allowed
so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the aim is to
develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done
uphill, with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds
resistance to the sprint movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most
specific manner. Again, short distances with long rests are

You are sitting in Tiger Stadium during the biggest game of the year. Tigers are

The fans and cheerleaders are cheering their hearts out but it just is not enough. Who

excited for game day, says Hansen. During football season, the band practices
every weeknight that the weather allows them to. They work around other sports
that use the football field for practice, which means that they typically do not start
practice until around 9pm. Just because of the time they start does not effect how
long they practice. Sometimes they do not finish until 11 or 12 at night. They
strive for perfection and it shows on game day. Students involved in the UWA

Coralia Alternate Ending
Far out in the ocean, where the water was as clear as glass and as blue as the sky
on a beautiful summer afternoon, the water was deep. It was as deep as midnights
starry treasures, and as deep as life and death. Down under that deep, deep water
lived a peaceful family. They were peaceful, and never bothered the people up
above. When they were old enough, they could go up to the land and watch. They
could not go any further than the largest rock. The largest rock was ten feet away
from land. The youngest of her two siblings, Coralia, wishes to up to land. You must

Pacific Salmon Species Change
In this paper I will examine two diverse articles in an attempt to understand species
specific response to change. The first article focuses on species change from a
broader point of view, looking at feeding ecology and trophic dynamics in a variety
of Pacific salmon species. The second article presents a more in depth analysis,
researching the thermal tolerance of Sockeye Salmon specifically. Kaeriyama et al.
studied the effects of climate events on Pacific salmon species in the offshore waters
of the central Gulf of Alaska during the early summers of 1994 2000. They based
their study on analyses of stomach contents, and carbon and nitrogen isotope
concentrations. In all species except Chum Salmon, Gonatid squid was the dominant
prey. During
Benefits Of Staying Single In Japan
Staying Single is Popular in Japan When people talk about what family is, the first
image in my mind is that a father and his son are sitting on the deep green grass
beside a jewelry blue lake, and colorful birds are singing while the sun is shining
on their smiling faces, which is a good example from Once More to the Lake
(White). What is a family? In my opinion, a family is that the people have the close
relationship and share the responsibility for each other. In a family, people love
each other and follow the same value, and they share the same sorrow and
happiness, and they support each other, such as the father s helping his son to do
carpentry from The Inheritance of Tools (Sanders). Considering for these, a family
seems like at least two persons in people s traditional opinions. If more and more
people want to stay single instead of getting married, what and how will affect our
society? I have some Japanese friends in International Education Center, which is
an ESL school for international students. They tell me that living single has been
popular in Japan, and they have some relatives who prefer to a single life. Staying
single in Japan is increasing because of the pressure of finances for supporting a
family, and this kind of trend results in the growth rate of population is declining,
which gives a great challenge to Japanese society. There are more people who want
to stay single, which is a significant trend in Japan. The reason might be that it is more
Types Of Political Risk Index Essay
As mentioned before, components of political risk index are divided into six sub
indicators. This section examines changes in political risks sub indicators as a
response to political changes and the mutual relationship between the six sub
indicators that form political risk index in Egypt.
3.1 Behavior of and Changes in Political Risks Sub Indicators
Figure (1) shows that indicators of political risk have had noticeable changes
especially after 25th of January revolution except for government effectiveness and
control of corruption indicators which stayed at levels 0.5 and 0.33 respectively
during the considered period. The following points summarize the performance of
political risks sub indicators as a response to political changes in Egypt. An indicator
with points near to 1 indicates a relatively very low risk indicator, while an indicator
with points near to 0 indicates a relatively very high risk indicator.
The most vulnerable and risky indicator of political risks sub indicators is voice
and accountability indicator, as points awarded to this indicator were always
below 0.5 and hence it is always located in very high risk zone. Prior to 25th of
January (from 2006 to 2010), the indicator recorded 0.4 average points and during
revolutions period this average points has been dropped to 0.24. Voice and
accountability indicator recorded average points 0.33 during the whole considered
period (2006 2014) with standard deviation 0.09 points.

Humorous Journeys
It is November 15, 2016. I look out my window hoping that don t see the blazing hot
sun ripping through my white curtains almost taunting me. All I see is the clouds
laying low on the mountain tops giving my eye a storybook illusion. I know I have

bundle of warmness making the struggle that much harder. eventually I pull off the

Prophecies In Aeneids
In The Aeneid, Virgil uses many prophecies. They begin in the first few lines and last
throughout the poem. Many are directed toward Aeneas, but some are to his relatives
and friends. The prophecies shown allow the reader to better understand the situation
and also provide insight about Rome. Prophecies are an important key to The Aeneid.
Prophecies are very important to Virgil s The Aeneid. Early on, Virgil does not hide
what will happen, but instead, he allows the reader insight through many
prophecies. In the first few lines, Juno makes the statement that generations born of
Trojan blood would one day overthrow her Tyrian walls. (32). In predicting this, she
allows us, the reader, to understand that all of the characters knows what is
happening and it is just a matter of time before the Trojans will take over Carthage.
The prophecy Virgil projects through Juno is not only a prophecy seen in the book,
but Virgil also wants the reader to acknowledge that this prophecy is a representation
of what will happen to Rome in the future.
Also in Book I, still very near the beginning, another prophecy is seen. During the
storm (128), Aeneas is remembering all of the people he knew that died in the
battle. He begins to pray for all of them and he asks why his life was not taken too.
Aeneas wonders why all of the strong warriors died and his life was spared. Just as
he is questioning this great mystery, another gust of wind takes many of the
remaining ships under. Aeneas becomes
College Pressures Affect Our Lives
College Pressures College pressures dominate our lives. They begin to levitate
around us and slowly derail our lives. William Zinsser elaborates about the college
pressures that modern generations are facing. He reveals multiple commonalities
that the typical college student encounters on a daily basis. Zinsser states, They
want a map right now that they can follow unswervingly to career security,
financial security, social security, and presumably, a prepaid grave (12). He is spot
on, the pressures demand my attention and won t take no for an answer. So far I ve
gone head to head with these pressures every day since I started my freshman year
in college. For the time that I ve been here, my mind is overwhelmed and
distraught with the amount of stress that gets piled on top of me every single day. I
drown in these unrealistic expectations written in those faulty suggestion bars about
how to be successful in college and college 101 tips. College pressures surround me
like a dull gray cloud. It showers me with expectations and unfinished checklists.
College itself is similar to carpooling to hell and back, but with no actual guarantee
with a ride back.
I can speak for myself when I say self induced pressure is a real thing. The pressure
circulates around me and I can never seem to escape. I feel an expectancy to always
be doing something productive and valuable with my time. I feel the pressure to get
involved, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, complete all my assignments, and
Examples Of Gertrude In Hamlet
Queen Gertrude is accredited as/for being a main character in William Shakespeare
s The Tragedy of Hamlet, King of Denmark even though her character has only 155
lines. Most productions portray Gertrude as a shallow, self satisfying woman and fail
to recognize her as a guilt ridden individual frustrated by her inability to please both
her son and husband. While both Kenneth Branagh and Mel Gibson occasionally
show Gertrudes desire to please Hamletand Claudius in their depictions of Hamlet,
they mainly portray Gertrude to be a scheming adulteress. Even though Gertrude is
an object of lust in the play, Gertrude herself is not lustful, but rather submissive to
power and her desire to please both Claudius and Hamlet.
Initially, one may think
Hunger Games Hamlet
The Hunger Games Hamlet There are 2 main themes within Hamlet the Hunger
Games. These being the idea that they are both being watched and therefore having
to be insecure about themselves and what they say. The other is the theme of
fatherhood and loss. Shakespeare s feelings are very much portrayed throughout the
whole of Hamlet, he gives the impression he is slightly bi polar as his mood
contrast so much. His feelings reflect on Hamlets behaviour. This led to Hamlet
being one of the greatest dramatic characters ever created, he switches from reckless
to cautious, courteous yet uncivil and loving yet violent and malicious. Hamlet is full
of faults which reflect on his feelings, he puts himself down and rejects himself, and

I can imagine, Katniss felt very surprised, a last request was to sing, and this was
probably a shocking request, especially in the circumstances and the overall
atmosphere of the arena. Despite Katniss s excuses she decided to sing on Rue s
last gasps of breathe. Katniss was so loyal to Rue, even though Katniss didn t know
Rue s background. She could have been from one of the wealthiest families in district
12. But Katniss still treated her with the highest of respect. This may be because Rue
is just like Prim in the eyes of Katniss. In the introduction the theme of fatherhood
was mentioned, this is a major theme throughout both of the stories, for Katniss the
relationship she had with her father was so important that her whole world fell down
when he was killed. Hamlets story is so similar to Katniss s. Shakespeare presents
Hamlet s thoughts and feelings through him being overwhelmed as his father s ghost
leaves. Throughout the speech Hamlet is thinking over what his father has just told
him. Shakespeare has him repeating the lines the ghost said as he left, Remember
Thee. This shows he is shocked that that he s said and wants this phrase to be
prominent throughout the time. Hamlet wants to make sure that what he has heard is
acted upon and that he stays true to his father s word. I think Shakespeare wanted to
show that Hamlet
The Welfare System
Changes within the welfare system as a result of policy shifts and by new thinking,
more generally in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development
(OECD), have had many methods, but the one that seemed most important, was that
welfare recipients were required to do much more to justify their income support
payments than before. The foundation of this new idea is that income support
programs should allow individuals to maximise their participation in work. Due to the
general shift in welfareadministration, the number of activity test requirements an
individual in Australia must meet in order to receive unemployment benefits, has
expanded significantly since the early 1990s. This complex, overly bureaucratic
process means that disadvantaged individuals cannot access the income support
payments they require.
Within the collaborative research project by the Brotherhood of St Laurence, St
Vincent de Paul Society, and The Centre for Public Policy, University of
Melbourne, Much obliged: Disadvantaged job seekers experiences of the mutual
obligation regime , a series of interviews with disadvantaged individuals were
conducted. These people were considered extremely disadvantaged in the labour
market, have been on benefits for an average of two and a half years and many had a
history of homelessness, mental health issues and/or drug use. This research project
found that many of them spoke about their desire to find work, and the
demoralisation associated with

Habit three is Put First Things First meaning will and won t power. Habit three
explains how you should prioritize the most important things that have to get done.
For example, if you have a five paragraph essay due tomorrow but you want to go

find other time to do the other thing. In this case you should probably prioritize the
five paragraph essay before going out with your friends. Sean said, The problem
comes when we become so focused on urgent things that we put off important things
that aren t urgent, like working on that report in advanced, going for a walk in the
mountains, or writing an important letter to a friend. All these important things get
pushed aside by urgent thinks, like phone calls, interruptions, drop ins, deadlines,
other people s problems, and other in your face do it now things, (108). Like Sean

Exploratory Research Philosophy Paper
With the understanding of the research philosophy and the selection of the
appropriate approach made above, now it is much easier to strategize the type of
research to solve the research problem and its sub problems. There are many
strategies in research. The most common ones are experimenting, survey, case study,
action research, grounded theory, ethnography and archival research.
Before deciding the strategy for the research, it is important to understand the
purpose of this research. Is it intended to explore or describe or explain the
phenomena? The exploratory research is intended to gain the base information about
the problem by defining the terms, explore the root of the problem, testing hypothesis
and provide a solution to the problem.

Essay on Amy Tan’s A Mother’s Tongue
Amy Tan s A Mother s Tongue
The purpose of Amy Tan s essay, Mother Tongue, is to show how challenging it can
be if an individual is raised by a parent who speaks limited English (36) as Tan s
mother does, partially because it can result in people being judged poorly by others.
As Tan s primary care giver, her mother was a significant part of her childhood, and
she has a strong influence over Tan s writing style. Being raised by her mother taught
her that one s perception of the world is heavily based upon the language spoken at
home. Alternately, people s perceptions of one another are based largely on the
language used.
Tan was born to a pair of Chinese immigrants. Her mother understood English
extremely well, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was because her mother s version of English and its modified rules caused Tan
to be confused on some of the questions.
Tan employs cause and effect when she is talking about her experiences with IQ
tests and the SATs. The fact that her mother spoke English the way she did made it
very difficult for Tan to envision what the test was asking, as with the questions
where she could not identify one singular correct answer. In her experience with
language, maybe she had heard her mother would say something a certain way, even
though, technically, it was not grammatically correct. Her perceptions of things,
specifically the rules of language, were different because of the language used at her
home.
She also incorporates problem and solution when she is describing how she had to
talk for her mother. Her belief is that people will not take you seriously if you do
not speak proper English, and to prove this, she shows how her mother encountered
that kind of attitude often. Tan describes how she had to call the stockbroker because
her mother was concerned about not getting a check, and how the hospital would not
look for a lost CAT scan until Tan was called to mediate. Even though the mother
speaks English, Tan still needs to act as a translator.
Compare and contrast comes in to play at the very beginning of the essay when Tan
is describing her mother listening to her giving a lecture.
Fences Father Son Relationships
The Apple Doesn t Fall Far From the Tree Have you ever heard the term, the apple
doesn t fall far from the tree or the term, like Father, like Son? According to the
Cambridge English Dictionary, these are terms used to suggest a child usually has a
similar character or similar qualities to his or her parents. (dictionary.cambridge.org)
This is particularly evident in August Wilson s drama, Fences. During Fences, Wilson
introduces three perplexing father son relationships. In each, the son tries to eliminate
the preconceived notion that he will inevitably be like his father while
simultaneously trying to escape the constraints his father has placed upon him.
Ultimately leading the son to unconsciously emulate and follow in the... Show more

This would prove to be a pivotal and defining moment in Troy s life. It was at this
moment that Troy knew he had to leave his father s house and was forced to be a
man. Despite leaving home at a young age to escape his father, Troy s father had an
everlasting effect on Troy and ultimately influenced the way Troy parents his own
children. In the following paragraphs, I will demonstrate how intergenerational
transmission of parenting impacted Troy, Troy s children and will quite possibility
impact the future generations of the Maxon family. At the young age of 14, Troy s
father caught him fooling around with a girl down by the river. Troy s father
physically attacked him and then proceeded to rape the young girl. (Wilson 1265)
Troy was forced to witness this horrific event. His father was completely insensitive
to Troy s feelings and the feelings of the young girl, showing no remorse for his
actions. Instead he showed Troy that masculinity creates superiority over women.
Unfortunately, Troy developed the same lack of sensitivity and an overcompensating
sense of masculinity. This may have also been what led Troy to his own philandering
behaviors of cheating on his wife Rose with Alberta. Both men felt like they were
entitled to their behaviors.
Cons Of Cyber Terrorism
Cyber terrorism is just as its name implies; it is the utilization of the internet for the
purpose of causing terror. Today s cyberterrorist have several methods available for
achieving their goals. The first of these is a general term known as Hacking which
refers to anyone gaining access to a computer or a network of computers to which
they are not allowed. There are various forms by which a hacker can gain this
access. Hacking is comprised of five key methods utilized for the purpose of gaining
that access to a computeror computers whichever may be the case. A terrorist could
use hacking methods such as packet sniffing, Tempest, password cracking, or buffer
overruns to gain access to unauthorized computers for the purpose of stealing credit

However, it is hard to imagine anything more damaging than computer viruses or
more difficult to prevent. The different forms of viruses are very effective in
disrupting computer services, exposing sensitive information, or making critical
computer systems unavailable because of bombardment by DoS attacks. The most
damaging aspect of computer viruses comes in the human contact which often
creates the greatest threat to a computer or computer network. Their spread through
email can be facilitated by the person who carelessly opens an email from an
unknown source because it has a catchy subject line. Then there is the person who

High School Wrestling Research Paper
Wrestling has been a very important factor in my life ever since someone suggested
it my freshman year of high school. Even though I have not wrestled a lot I would
say I am very literate in the sport. Throughout the sport I worked hard on many
different types of moves so I would have an arsenal on the wrestlingmat. Every day
at practice I would always practice the main attack movies such as my single and
my double leg takedowns. Then on the mat I would use these moves and take
control of the match. At practice I also worked on different moves to set up attacks
so I would gain points. I would also work outside of practice on my movies just
shadow wrestling in my basement, just going through the motions until I felt
comfortable on that move.

current operations with room for production expansion, moving to one larger location
would eliminate the need for two locations, the bakery can convert existing product
in to new retail market that will result in higher profit margins. Expansion will also
allow the bakery to look consider and extension of their product line.
10.) Some of the possible problems with the recommendations are: with expansion,
will the bakery be able to ensure the consistent quality that it has become known
for? Will Amy be able to properly schedule more staff and afford to properly train
new staff members? Will the higher cost of a new location make it difficult to be
able to still purchase only quality ingredients? Will a higher cost still allow Amy to
be able to offer above average salaries keeping turnover rate low? Amy Scherber
should educate herself completely on the financial aspect of the expansion, set sales
and financial projections and make sure that the cost of the investment will be worth
the return she will get on it Also she needs to make sure that the baking techniques
will stay in place, and need for trained personnel cannot change. In doing so this will
assure that she will not compromise the reputation she has made for herself the
reputation that has made expansion necessary.

Thesis Of Super Size Me
Contrary to the popular belief of the time, Morgan Spurlock s amateur
documentary Supersize Me pushed reform in both fast food culture, and eating
habits of citizens, being one of the first catalysts in a new movement in America.
This 2004 film, being the first of his works to establish Spurlock as a filmmaker,
focuses on Spurlock s 30 day journey in which he vowed to eat solely McDonalds
for three meals a day, and track his overall mental, physical, and social changes over
this span of time. Throughout the film, Spurlock consults three doctors (a
gastroenterologist, a cardiologist, and a general practitioner) as well as a nutritionist
to monitor physical change and gather quantitative data supporting his claim. The

For the most part, the straight forward thesis used multiple successful techniques
for it s support. One of these tactics being Spurlock s combination of different
filming styles. He utilizes a large range of film techniques from factual, statistical
data to interactive, cartoon style animations and pop culture soundtracks. Spurlock
also often interviews a multitude of different people, films his own home video

each additional film style Spurlock adds to his final product, he is adding new views
on the same issue; that change needs to come and reforms need to be made. Thus
bringing me to my next thought. This film does an exceptional job at indicating that
much of these unhealthy options are coming from increased advertising. Though to
some it may seem as though Spurlock is only targeting McDonalds, he is really
arguing that unhealthy choices are flooding our culture, not only for the adults, but
also the youth through a profound amount of advertising. Everything from
commercials on T.V. with fun characters and catchy jingles to large, flashy
billboards, Spurlock suggests that this has a large impact on many people. And as A.

With several competitors, such as Mattel, vying for the business of increasingly
financially conscious consumers, Hasbro must optimize its operations in order to

Religion Is An Organized System Of Worship
Faith is a belief or a prediction of the future while religion is an organized system
of worship followed by a group of people (Pyle 1). While both sound mostly
superstitious, they are very necessary for the running of the daily human lives.
Humans, for the fear of the unpredictable future, often come up with myths that they
hope will keep them safe. It serves them well, as it helps them carry on with their
daily activities with reduced fear and anxiety. However, the problems begin when
they think that everyone one else must follow their faith. With their superiority in
numbers or other forms of power such as firearms, they might be tempted to follow
other minor and weaker groupings to be part of them or perish. In this way, religion
and faith have been used to steal wealth from weaker kingdoms and make slaves out
of previously free humans.
One significant positive impact that has been created by religion is the unification
of people from various cultures through one faith. However, this has also created a
lot of trouble as some cultures have been swallowed up by others. Religions have
given us great timeless artistic masterpieces and musical composition for the use of
worship by the masses.
A common misconception regarding faith and religion is that other people have to
believe what one believes. The misconception convinces the believers that only their
religion is the right one, and other people should follow it without question. Such
indoctrination has led to inter and

Raising Bilingual Children Essay
Here are the most persistent myths on raising bilingual children:
Your child will be confused by learning more than one language.
This belief is prevalent in monolingual countries and has far more politics than
science to back it up. Rest assured that your child s little brain has more than enough
neurons firing to cope with two languages (or even more) without frizzing out. On the
contrary, decades of research in countless studies actually show significant cognitive
advantages to being multilingual. And what about the experience of millions of

Some kids can t even handle that in one language.
It s true that many children have difficulties reading and writing well. However,
reading and writing is a coding / decoding process and is not linked to the number of
languages a child speaks, as such although it could involve multiple alphabets, and
then be a bit more work. Interestingly enough, access to multiple languages actually
makes it easier for children to understand the nature of language itself, which, in turn,
improves overall literacy skills. Research supports what many parents have long felt:
that multilingual children have better developed linguistic understanding.

The Safety Of Skydiving, And A Youtube Video
Cool can be expressed through the courage that people have to experience new
things, including taking risks. What makes skydiving cool is that it presents a
new thrilling experience that not many get to have. Combined with the potential
risks and the overall experience, skydiving has many appeals that can be
considered as cool to the functional aesthetics of a person. Skydiving embodies this
concept of cool because it takes nerve to overcome the perceived risk of death to
jump out a moving plane. It is a unique experience that individuals should put on
their bucket list because it gives the skydivers the opportunity to explore new
feelings that they often would not experience in their normal life. Therefore, the
purpose of the project is to inform and persuade the audience to skydive because it
does not only illustrate cool , but it also functions as stress release. To capture the
interest of the audience, the project will be presented through a PowerPoint that
includes the statistics of the safety of skydiving, and a YouTube video. Through the
use of pathos, the audience will be more likely to be influenced through the
emotions that will be shown in the presentation. Since not many of the audience are
experts on skydiving, the charts and pictures in the PowerPoint will inform the
audience about the prices and give them an idea of how skydiving looks like. It is
also beneficial to present a video because it allows the audience to have an idea of
the perspective that
The Issue Of Homeland Security
This research paper will shed light on the issue of Homeland Security. For many
countries including the United States, Terrorism and national security have always
remained one of the biggest challenges. This research essay will critically analyze as
to how the homeland security of the United States has dealt with the threat of future
terrorist attacks since its inception in 2002. The whole world bears witness to the
tragic losses incurred by the September 11, 2001 attacks. After eleven days of this
terrorist attack; Tom Ridge, the Pennsylvania Governor, was staffed in White House
as the Director of Office of Homeland Security. The purpose of this office was to
overlook and coordinate a comprehensive, national security strategy that would
protect the country from any future acts of violent attacks and terrorism. In
November 2002, the Congress passed the Homeland Security Act after which the
Homeland Security Department officially came into existence. The purpose of the
creation of this separate, formal department was to further reinforce national security
efforts and to safeguard the country against any terrorist attacks. Apart from terrorist
threat protection, homeland security also encompasses and provides protections
against any man made events or natural disasters that might pose a threat to the
American society. In essence, the approach used by homeland security is an all
hazards one. It is not just terrorism that threatens America. Hurricanes, earthquakes

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESRPONSIBILITY (CSR)
Introduction
Today, the world faces numerous challenges ranging from dreadful environmental
conditions through poverty and human rights, to energy and resource supply issues.
Social responsibility policy focuses on using the capabilities of a business to improve
lives and sustain our planet through contributions to local communities and society at
large. In other words, a business should fully realize it s potential as an organization
to make a better world through corporate self regulation assimilated into a business
module.
CSR and Human Rights The global community expects companies to operate with
due admiration for human rights. Beyond meeting regulatory requirements and social
expectations in areas in which they operate, by proactively presenting more rigorous
international standards such as the United Nations Global Compact, companies will
reinforce their commitment to human rights. In 1998 the Secretary General of the
UN, declared that he was building a more solid relationship with the business
community. Thriving markets and human security goes hand in hand: without one
we will not have the other (Annan,
1998, p. 1820). Afterwards, a World Economic Forum was held in 1999. At the forum,
Kofi Annan introduced what is known the Global Compact . This is the ten principles

Franz Liszt As A Hungarian Pianist From The Romantic
Period
Franz Liszt was an extremely talented Hungarian pianist from the romantic period.
Liszt was born on October 22, 1811 in Raiding, Hungary. Liszt s father was ГЃdГЎm
Liszt, an official in the service of Prince Nicolas EszterhГЎzy, whose palace was
often visited by celebrated musicians. ГЃdГЎm Liszt was a talented amateur
musician who played cello, as well as several other instruments in court concerts.
Franz Liszts father passionately taught him how to play piano, and by the age of 6,
was already recognized as a child Prodigy. At this age, Liszt began to show interest
in both church and gypsy music. He developed into a religious child, partly
because of his father who spent two years of his youth in the Franciscan order. By
the age of eight, Liszt began to compose elementary works. At the age of nine, he
made his first public appearance as a concert pianist at Sopron and Pozsony. His
playing impressed the local Hungarian magnates so much that they put up the
money to pay for his musical education for the next six years. His father took a
leave of absence from the Prince, so that he could devote his time to helping his son
s musical education. They went to Vienna, where he learned piano with Carl Czerney,
a composer and pianist who had been a pupil of Beethoven, and studied composition
with Antonio Salieri, the musical director at the Viennese Court and one of Mozart s
rivals. Liszt continued to perform concerts with great success, his most notable talent

Labor Trafficking And Its Effects On Women And Children
Also known as involuntary servitude, forced labor may result when unscrupulous
employers exploit workers made more vulnerable by high rates of unemployment,
poverty, crime, discrimination, corruption, political conflict, or cultural
acceptance of the practice. Immigrants are particularly vulnerable, but individuals
also may be forced into labor in their own countries.(U.S. Department of State,
2008). Labor trafficking targets all, but mainly women and children due to their
relative lack of power compared to men, but men can also be victimized.
Traffickers may use false promises of a high paying job or exciting education or
travel opportunities to lure people into cruel working conditions. While the victim
may realize that what they received is not what they were promised, often they are
subjected to physical and psychological control. At when having traveled, their
money and passports may be taken away from them, causing the victim believes
they have no other choice but to continue working for that employer.Female
victims of forced or bonded labor, especially women and girls in domestic servitude,
are often sexually exploited as well. Many children are forcibly abducted put to
work domestically for certain businesses or forced to be child soldiers and sex
slaves for soldiers. Both male and female child soldiers are often sexually abused
and are at high risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.(U.S. Department of
State, 2008) A unique form of forced labor is
Compare And Contrast Walter And Mama In A Raisin In
The Sun
In the book A Raisin in the Sun by Larraine Hansberry, Walter and Mama are the
two most influential characters to the plot. Walter is obnoxious and always thinks
about himself while Mama is forceful and very strict. They both play a major role
in the story. Both have changed or impacted the plot and characters feelings and or
thoughts. Without them in the story it would be very different. Walter is a very
important character and impacts everybody by his actions and what he says and
does. Walter changes a lot throughout the story. He begins to become very hostile
and short tempered towards his family. He starts to lose all his family values and
only starts to worry and care about the check that is coming in. He says, did it
come? will somebody please listen to me today!!! This shows that he wants
everyone to listen to his idea about what he wants to do with the money. While he
wants this, he shows no care or regard to anyone else s ideas or thoughts about it.
The quotes show how selfish and rude he is, also it shows how he has lost of all
his family s values because he won t even listen to anybody else. Walter has
changed his whole family. He has started so much conflict with all his family. His
family at this rate will be better off without him. You ain t looked at it yet and you
don t aim to speak on that again? You ain t looked at it and you have decided well,
you tell that to my boy tonight when you put him to sleep on the living room
couch. This just shows how much he wants to have HER money for himself
because he is selfish and a shallow person. He is the reason why the family is
tearing apart. Also, Walters actions show how edgy and inpatient he is. (Violently
flinging the coat after her) He starts to get very violent, he flings things, slams
doors, yells at mama, and starts to get verbally abusive towards her. He doesn t
know how to let things go and how to think in another person s perspective. He
only wants to do what he wants, he doesn t care what the other family members
want he just knows what he wants to get and forces the decision upon them all. In
this book Mama plays a very important role. She is the head of the house and has a
major part in what people can and cannot do. She has the
Idea Of Panopticon
Foucault idea of the panopticon is to make power in society more powerful and
effective. Creating a system that ensures a functioning way of how the people do
things. Having been under surveillance to protect the need for anything that s
disorderly. But also creating too much security and restraint for individuals. Thus
causing convenience but also a downfall towards individuals. The idea of panopticon
can have its positive benefits because of the safety and security that are given to the
situations. With this system being more organized and effective to disciplining others
to follow rules and if not you would have to deal with a certain punishment. Causing
society to act more obedient to situations and minimizing crimes and bad activity.
The Downfall And Vice As A Tale Of A Tub And The Battle
Of...
The prominence of Jonathon Swift and his work is undeniable in the Eighteenth
Century. Swift s emergence into the literary world was spurned on by writing
about politics and religion with his strong opinions and wit. Other famous works
by Swift include A Tale of a Tub and The Battle of the Books based on the
corruptions in religion and learning at the time. Swift s works in literature were
often written to further a cause or reaction. The idea of the antagonising satirist is
reiterated in a conversation between Pope and Swift, with Swift stating The chief
end I propose in all my labours is to vex the world rather than divert it . Swift aims
to educate readers on what is actually going on at the forefront of culture at the
time through his works, with the embodiment of human downfall and vice being
satirised through the characters of Gulliver s Travels. Swift began working on
book by 1721, with the parts being written in sequence to begin with. Parts I and II
were finished by late 1723 with Part IV being completed by January 1724. This
lead to Part III being finished and the entire works being under revision in early
1725. Swift sent the manuscript to Benjamin Motte, a bookseller at that time. Before
publishing Gulliver s Travels Motte edited the text fearing the crown and court
prosecution. The first edition was published on the 28th October 1726, with the first
print selling out within a week. The novel was published two more times before
1727, before being translated

Merion Veenom Soccer Tribe Analysis
Tribe, described by the dictionary as, Any aggregate of people united by ties of
descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions , can cause
many people to often tumble into disagreement with one another over the meaning of
this word. Arguments have lead people to believe that the word triberefers to a group
of people that are primitive and savage, but Archeologists have cleaned up the
meaning. Archaeologists define the word tribe as, A political group that comprises

occupying a distinct territory (Keim, pg. 114). The word tribe not only applies to

Baron. They understand their world as a place to get better, and a place to
compete. Every single kid on the team understands the other teams as enemies that
they need to concor. Each child has a different life story about how they became
the person they were. For example, some kids were born in Bryn Mawr,
Philadelphia, and some kids were born in Trinidad and Tobago. The kids come from
many different backgrounds, but all unite because they understand the world the
same. Alike the Native Americans and African tribes, the Venom perform the same
rituals before each game and practice. They eat the same foods, always healthy, and
they get themselves loose in the same way each time. They always eat healthy foods
like salads, fruits, and vegetables but they never eat something that could weight
them down like junk food. Before each game, the team performs the same warm up,
they jog, they spring, they do high knees, etc. These rituals before a game never
change, similar to how the Native Americans rituals never change. Because many of
the members come from different backgrounds, there is a stern difference between
how they differentiate themselves. Many kids show up to practices in clothes that
they wear on a daily basis, so for some people, that s different. Kids show up in
jackets, shorts, gloves, hats, jerseys, anything under the sun. The catch is that they
are always unique, the outfits are never similar to the others. Although we all share
the same interests, we all differentiate from another because of our styles of life. In

Europe s Influence On Western Europe
Western Europe is a term that was used to describe a region where many countries,
such as Britain, France and Germany, which joined after World Wars, shared the same
history. In another perspective, it was also sometimes referring to a region where
countries shared the same value: capitalism and democracy. Throughout the history,
because of difference events, the position of Western Europein the world has also
changed. Before 1914, due to the rapid development of the Enlightenment ideas and
the industrialization in Britain and France, the world major powers centrally seated
in Western Europe. However, as the Western European countries suffered huge losses
from two World Wars, Western Europe has actually steadily marched East since the
Great War. Moreover, as many new immigrants from the former colonized regions
joined Western European countries, Western Europe also gained its economic and
political cohesion as most countries became part of NATO and then the European
Union. In the present days, while the idea of Western Europe has expanded to more
countries, it became dominant in its continent and could be considered as a savior to
many other nations.
Prior to the 1914, many of the world great powers, such as Britain and France were
centrally seated in Western Europe. In the 18th century, Britain and France soon
developed rapidly due to the birth of the Enlightenment idea, which challenged the
tradition and put more emphasis on the reasons (Hunt et al. 577). As a

Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey is a brilliant novel copyrighted in 1963 it is about a man
testing his limits with his authority, the nurse. Ken Kesey was influenced to write this
novel after being part of a experiment involving the effect LSD had on people s
minds.( One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest Background. ) This novel shows what I
believe are true aspects of the way our world conceives people within a mental
institution. The novel starts with Bromden, the narrator also a patient of the
institution, sweeping the halls while the nurse targets the black men. Soon after
McMurphy is brought in as a new admission, patient. Immediately everybody
notices his presence because of how he carries himself when he gets their. When he
first comes in he goes into the day room and introduces himself to everyone. He then
brings a level of intimidation to all of the patients and lets them know that he is

Invisibility is a very displayed theme when it comes to Bromden within the novel.
Bromden is seen to be a deaf dumb Indian however he is not deaf. Which allows
him to be observant without anyone thinking twice about it. McMurphy is the only
character that breaks through his barrier of invisibility and makes a close
relationship with him. The second theme I found is the power of intimidation, I
notice this as a theme because McMurphy has gained a lot of power over all of the
residents because of intimidation. He has the ability to get into their minds and
change decisions they may or may not want to make, which helps him get away with
all of the bad things he bring into the hospital.(Kesey,

Beauty Contest Essay

  • 1. Beauty Contest Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of beauty contests is a task that navigates through a myriad of perspectives, controversies, and societal nuances. At its core, this topic demands an exploration of beauty standards, the commodification of appearance, and the impact of such contests on individuals and society as a whole. The difficulty arises not merely from the need to articulate personal opinions, but also to present a balanced and well-researched view that encapsulates the diverse opinions surrounding beauty contests. One must delve into the historical evolution of beauty pageants, tracing their roots and understanding how they have evolved over time. This requires sifting through an extensive array of literature, academic papers, and sociological studies to gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Moreover, the essay should address the controversial aspects of beauty contests, such as objectification, societal pressures, and the perpetuation of narrow beauty standards. Balancing the essay with both positive and negative perspectives while maintaining a coherent and logical flow poses an additional challenge. Addressing the potential empowerment or disempowerment of participants, the impact on self-esteem, and societal perceptions requires careful consideration of various viewpoints. In essence, writing an essay on beauty contests involves navigating a complex terrain where personal opinions must be substantiated by factual information and critical analysis. The challenge lies not only in expressing one's thoughts eloquently but also in presenting a holistic view that acknowledges the multi-faceted nature of the topic. On a final note, for those seeking assistance with similar essays or a diverse range of topics, it's worth exploring resources such as HelpWriting.net, where expertly crafted essays and much more can be ordered to aid in the academic journey. Middle Colonies Dbq After reading chapter two it seemingly became clear that the colony I would have preferred to live in is the middle colonies specifically, Philadelphia established from Quaker Pennsylvania. The middle colonies were known to be unique due to being vastly diverse and tolerant of others. Pennsylvania, largely consisted of a group known as, Quakers, Shi Tindall noted that ...they became the most influential of many radical religious groups that emerged from the turbulence of the English Civil War (p. 58). Pennsylvania s tolerance towards all people motivated them to believe that all people could experience God through the Inner Light. This group had gone through immense persecution, banishment, torture, and with this being said extreme pacifism

Part of being a good manager is to continually evaluate our own practice and lead by example. It is very important to continually develop our own skills and those of our staff members. I regularly attend as many Hairdressing seminars and exhibitions as possible each year to keep myself up to date and motivated. I find that by holding a training class in the salon one evening per week gives every team member a chance to show their individual skills and overall quality of their own work. It allows me their manager to pick up on their strengths and weaknesses and very often I pick up something new from watching them. This is information that can be used when doing staff appraisals. It shows me areas of improvement that are needed for each individual so I can plan relevant courses for

It also gives employees the chance to tell me what they think and what their aspirations are for the future. Task 2 Analyse the impact of client satisfaction on a hair/beauty business and
  • 5. Strength Training The benefit of strength and strength training for footballers is well supported by research. For example, De Proft and colleagues had one group of Belgian professionals perform extra weight training during the season. Compared to a control group of colleagues who did no extra training, the players improved their kicking power and leg strength. Reilly (1990)[2] showed that the stronger players outlasted the weaker players in terms of a regular place in the team, and had reduced injury risks. He recommends that leg strength in particular is developed, especially in the quadriceps and hamstrings, to help stabilise the knee joint, which is the most frequently injured joint in football. Apor (1998)[3], a Hungarian researcher who has been involved... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of lengthening muscles. For this reason, they should be more accurately called reversible action or rebound exercises. The training effort increases the force production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at faster speeds than weight training exercises. Thus rebound exercises are more specific to the sprinting and jumping movements in football. These exercises should be done in 3 5 sets of 8 repetitions for each leg, with at least one minute s rest between sets. The quality and speed of the movement is the priority. The other training element that is required for improving sprinting speed is sprinting itself. This should be done with maximum efforts over 30 60m. Again, at least one minute s rest between runs should be allowed so that quality can be maintained. Remember, with this kind of training the aim is to develop the maximum speed; endurance should not become a factor. Sprinting done uphill, with weighted jackets, or towing weights is also useful because it adds resistance to the sprint movement, placing greater load on the muscles in the most specific manner. Again, short distances with long rests are
  • 6. Home Football Strengths You are sitting in Tiger Stadium during the biggest game of the year. Tigers are down by one touchdown in the 4th quarter and they need to score to win the game. The fans and cheerleaders are cheering their hearts out but it just is not enough. Who should they turn to? Who can give them the hype they need to push through the last bit of the game to win? None other than the Scarlet Band from Tiger Land! They are loud, they are hype, and Tiger football and basketballwould not be the same without them. The Scarlet Band from Tiger Land currently has over 125 members. They perform at all of the home football games and the home basketball games. It gave me chills to hear them play the fight song. It always made me so excited for game day, says Hansen. During football season, the band practices every weeknight that the weather allows them to. They work around other sports that use the football field for practice, which means that they typically do not start practice until around 9pm. Just because of the time they start does not effect how long they practice. Sometimes they do not finish until 11 or 12 at night. They strive for perfection and it shows on game day. Students involved in the UWA Band are given the opportunity to participate in both on campus and off campus activities throughout the year. The UWA Band serves as both a recruiting and public relations tool to support the University in its mission. Performances include six UWA home football games, Christmas on the river parade in Demopolis, AL, Crewe of Columbus parade in Mobile, AL, Crewe of Endymion Mardi Gras Parade in New Orleans. • 7. Coralia Alternate Ending Far out in the ocean, where the water was as clear as glass and as blue as the sky on a beautiful summer afternoon, the water was deep. It was as deep as midnights starry treasures, and as deep as life and death. Down under that deep, deep water lived a peaceful family. They were peaceful, and never bothered the people up above. When they were old enough, they could go up to the land and watch. They could not go any further than the largest rock. The largest rock was ten feet away from land. The youngest of her two siblings, Coralia, wishes to up to land. You must wait two years to go up, for you are only 11. Every day after that night he came home and told her about this girl. He described her just as someone would describe Coralia. When she enters the room everyone s mood brightens. Her crimson hair flashes like the morning sun on the horizon, he exclaimed to her, and her eyes were the kind of green that pushed its way through the piles of gritty snow to remind you that spring was coming. She s the love of my life. he told her. As he told her this her heart
  • 8. Pacific Salmon Species Change In this paper I will examine two diverse articles in an attempt to understand species specific response to change. The first article focuses on species change from a broader point of view, looking at feeding ecology and trophic dynamics in a variety of Pacific salmon species. The second article presents a more in depth analysis, researching the thermal tolerance of Sockeye Salmon specifically. Kaeriyama et al. studied the effects of climate events on Pacific salmon species in the offshore waters of the central Gulf of Alaska during the early summers of 1994 2000. They based their study on analyses of stomach contents, and carbon and nitrogen isotope concentrations. In all species except Chum Salmon, Gonatid squid was the dominant prey. During
  • 9. Benefits Of Staying Single In Japan Staying Single is Popular in Japan When people talk about what family is, the first image in my mind is that a father and his son are sitting on the deep green grass beside a jewelry blue lake, and colorful birds are singing while the sun is shining on their smiling faces, which is a good example from Once More to the Lake (White). What is a family? In my opinion, a family is that the people have the close relationship and share the responsibility for each other. In a family, people love each other and follow the same value, and they share the same sorrow and happiness, and they support each other, such as the father s helping his son to do carpentry from The Inheritance of Tools (Sanders). Considering for these, a family seems like at least two persons in people s traditional opinions. If more and more people want to stay single instead of getting married, what and how will affect our society? I have some Japanese friends in International Education Center, which is an ESL school for international students. They tell me that living single has been popular in Japan, and they have some relatives who prefer to a single life. Staying single in Japan is increasing because of the pressure of finances for supporting a family, and this kind of trend results in the growth rate of population is declining, which gives a great challenge to Japanese society. There are more people who want to stay single, which is a significant trend in Japan. The reason might be that it is more
  • 10. Types Of Political Risk Index Essay As mentioned before, components of political risk index are divided into six sub indicators. This section examines changes in political risks sub indicators as a response to political changes and the mutual relationship between the six sub indicators that form political risk index in Egypt. 3.1 Behavior of and Changes in Political Risks Sub Indicators Figure (1) shows that indicators of political risk have had noticeable changes especially after 25th of January revolution except for government effectiveness and control of corruption indicators which stayed at levels 0.5 and 0.33 respectively during the considered period. The following points summarize the performance of political risks sub indicators as a response to political changes in Egypt. An indicator with points near to 1 indicates a relatively very low risk indicator, while an indicator with points near to 0 indicates a relatively very high risk indicator. The most vulnerable and risky indicator of political risks sub indicators is voice and accountability indicator, as points awarded to this indicator were always below 0.5 and hence it is always located in very high risk zone. Prior to 25th of January (from 2006 to 2010), the indicator recorded 0.4 average points and during revolutions period this average points has been dropped to 0.24. Voice and accountability indicator recorded average points 0.33 during the whole considered period (2006 2014) with standard deviation 0.09 points. In spite that
  • 11. Humorous Journeys It is November 15, 2016. I look out my window hoping that don t see the blazing hot sun ripping through my white curtains almost taunting me. All I see is the clouds laying low on the mountain tops giving my eye a storybook illusion. I know I have to get out of bed but the comfort of my blue cotton sheets keep me trapped in a bundle of warmness making the struggle that much harder. eventually I pull off the what seemed to be my morning happiness and go to the restroom. After getting dressed in the proper attire for what seems to be a glorious day of what I heard to be an emotional roller coaster, I head to my destination. As I go through the line he hands me card with a little boys face on it. The picture on the card is black and white with the name Peter lined up above the little boys face. I am confused at first but then I realize that this is the face of a boy who was in an internment camp. After everyone gets this card we are taken through the stages of when they are bought into the camp from when they are executed or escape. I first start in a room where if you are between the ages of 14 40 you are to go into the interment camps and work until death. The other room was for women with babies and the elderly. They were to be executed immediately. I go through a door with myself and my seventeen year old sister and wave goodbye to my mother and little sister. I think to myself I can t believe that this is what they had to go through. After walking through the short hallway that led us to our fait we all end up in the same room. It took people including my self a while to realize that we are in a gas chamber. We all sit down on a bench a thin layer of sand lay
  • 12. Prophecies In Aeneids In The Aeneid, Virgil uses many prophecies. They begin in the first few lines and last throughout the poem. Many are directed toward Aeneas, but some are to his relatives and friends. The prophecies shown allow the reader to better understand the situation and also provide insight about Rome. Prophecies are an important key to The Aeneid. Prophecies are very important to Virgil s The Aeneid. Early on, Virgil does not hide what will happen, but instead, he allows the reader insight through many prophecies. In the first few lines, Juno makes the statement that generations born of Trojan blood would one day overthrow her Tyrian walls. (32). In predicting this, she allows us, the reader, to understand that all of the characters knows what is happening and it is just a matter of time before the Trojans will take over Carthage. The prophecy Virgil projects through Juno is not only a prophecy seen in the book, but Virgil also wants the reader to acknowledge that this prophecy is a representation of what will happen to Rome in the future. Also in Book I, still very near the beginning, another prophecy is seen. During the storm (128), Aeneas is remembering all of the people he knew that died in the battle. He begins to pray for all of them and he asks why his life was not taken too. Aeneas wonders why all of the strong warriors died and his life was spared. Just as he is questioning this great mystery, another gust of wind takes many of the remaining ships under. Aeneas becomes
  • 13. College Pressures Affect Our Lives College Pressures College pressures dominate our lives. They begin to levitate around us and slowly derail our lives. William Zinsser elaborates about the college pressures that modern generations are facing. He reveals multiple commonalities that the typical college student encounters on a daily basis. Zinsser states, They want a map right now that they can follow unswervingly to career security, financial security, social security, and presumably, a prepaid grave (12). He is spot on, the pressures demand my attention and won t take no for an answer. So far I ve gone head to head with these pressures every day since I started my freshman year in college. For the time that I ve been here, my mind is overwhelmed and distraught with the amount of stress that gets piled on top of me every single day. I drown in these unrealistic expectations written in those faulty suggestion bars about how to be successful in college and college 101 tips. College pressures surround me like a dull gray cloud. It showers me with expectations and unfinished checklists. College itself is similar to carpooling to hell and back, but with no actual guarantee with a ride back. I can speak for myself when I say self induced pressure is a real thing. The pressure circulates around me and I can never seem to escape. I feel an expectancy to always be doing something productive and valuable with my time. I feel the pressure to get involved, maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, complete all my assignments, and
  • 14. Examples Of Gertrude In Hamlet Queen Gertrude is accredited as/for being a main character in William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Hamlet, King of Denmark even though her character has only 155 lines. Most productions portray Gertrude as a shallow, self satisfying woman and fail to recognize her as a guilt ridden individual frustrated by her inability to please both her son and husband. While both Kenneth Branagh and Mel Gibson occasionally show Gertrudes desire to please Hamletand Claudius in their depictions of Hamlet, they mainly portray Gertrude to be a scheming adulteress. Even though Gertrude is an object of lust in the play, Gertrude herself is not lustful, but rather submissive to power and her desire to please both Claudius and Hamlet. Initially, one may think
  • 15. Hunger Games Hamlet The Hunger Games Hamlet There are 2 main themes within Hamlet the Hunger Games. These being the idea that they are both being watched and therefore having to be insecure about themselves and what they say. The other is the theme of fatherhood and loss. Shakespeare s feelings are very much portrayed throughout the whole of Hamlet, he gives the impression he is slightly bi polar as his mood contrast so much. His feelings reflect on Hamlets behaviour. This led to Hamlet being one of the greatest dramatic characters ever created, he switches from reckless to cautious, courteous yet uncivil and loving yet violent and malicious. Hamlet is full of faults which reflect on his feelings, he puts himself down and rejects himself, and he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I can imagine, Katniss felt very surprised, a last request was to sing, and this was probably a shocking request, especially in the circumstances and the overall atmosphere of the arena. Despite Katniss s excuses she decided to sing on Rue s last gasps of breathe. Katniss was so loyal to Rue, even though Katniss didn t know Rue s background. She could have been from one of the wealthiest families in district 12. But Katniss still treated her with the highest of respect. This may be because Rue is just like Prim in the eyes of Katniss. In the introduction the theme of fatherhood was mentioned, this is a major theme throughout both of the stories, for Katniss the relationship she had with her father was so important that her whole world fell down when he was killed. Hamlets story is so similar to Katniss s. Shakespeare presents Hamlet s thoughts and feelings through him being overwhelmed as his father s ghost leaves. Throughout the speech Hamlet is thinking over what his father has just told him. Shakespeare has him repeating the lines the ghost said as he left, Remember Thee. This shows he is shocked that that he s said and wants this phrase to be prominent throughout the time. Hamlet wants to make sure that what he has heard is acted upon and that he stays true to his father s word. I think Shakespeare wanted to show that Hamlet
  • 16. The Welfare System Changes within the welfare system as a result of policy shifts and by new thinking, more generally in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), have had many methods, but the one that seemed most important, was that welfare recipients were required to do much more to justify their income support payments than before. The foundation of this new idea is that income support programs should allow individuals to maximise their participation in work. Due to the general shift in welfareadministration, the number of activity test requirements an individual in Australia must meet in order to receive unemployment benefits, has expanded significantly since the early 1990s. This complex, overly bureaucratic process means that disadvantaged individuals cannot access the income support payments they require. Within the collaborative research project by the Brotherhood of St Laurence, St Vincent de Paul Society, and The Centre for Public Policy, University of Melbourne, Much obliged: Disadvantaged job seekers experiences of the mutual obligation regime , a series of interviews with disadvantaged individuals were conducted. These people were considered extremely disadvantaged in the labour market, have been on benefits for an average of two and a half years and many had a history of homelessness, mental health issues and/or drug use. This research project found that many of them spoke about their desire to find work, and the demoralisation associated with

When reading this book, the three habits that stuck out the most were: habit two, habit three, and habit five. These habits were the ones that stuck out most because every freshman can easily apply them to their first year of highschool. If you want to have a successful freshman year of high school you may want to take some of the tips. Habit two, was one of the habits that can be applied to a high school freshman s first year, because it talks about being with the end in mind. Essay on Amy Tan’s A Mother’s Tongue Amy Tan s A Mother s Tongue The purpose of Amy Tan s essay, Mother Tongue, is to show how challenging it can be if an individual is raised by a parent who speaks limited English (36) as Tan s mother does, partially because it can result in people being judged poorly by others. As Tan s primary care giver, her mother was a significant part of her childhood, and she has a strong influence over Tan s writing style. Being raised by her mother taught her that one s perception of the world is heavily based upon the language spoken at home. Alternately, people s perceptions of one another are based largely on the language used. Tan was born to a pair of Chinese immigrants. Her mother understood English extremely well, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was because her mother s version of English and its modified rules caused Tan to be confused on some of the questions. Tan employs cause and effect when she is talking about her experiences with IQ tests and the SATs. The fact that her mother spoke English the way she did made it very difficult for Tan to envision what the test was asking, as with the questions where she could not identify one singular correct answer. In her experience with language, maybe she had heard her mother would say something a certain way, even though, technically, it was not grammatically correct. Her perceptions of things, specifically the rules of language, were different because of the language used at her home. She also incorporates problem and solution when she is describing how she had to talk for her mother. Her belief is that people will not take you seriously if you do not speak proper English, and to prove this, she shows how her mother encountered that kind of attitude often. Tan describes how she had to call the stockbroker because her mother was concerned about not getting a check, and how the hospital would not look for a lost CAT scan until Tan was called to mediate. Even though the mother speaks English, Tan still needs to act as a translator. Compare and contrast comes in to play at the very beginning of the essay when Tan is describing her mother listening to her giving a lecture.

While both sound mostly superstitious, they are very necessary for the running of the daily human lives. Humans, for the fear of the unpredictable future, often come up with myths that they hope will keep them safe. It serves them well, as it helps them carry on with their daily activities with reduced fear and anxiety. However, the problems begin when they think that everyone one else must follow their faith. With their superiority in numbers or other forms of power such as firearms, they might be tempted to follow other minor and weaker groupings to be part of them or perish. In this way, religion and faith have been used to steal wealth from weaker kingdoms and make slaves out of previously free humans. One significant positive impact that has been created by religion is the unification of people from various cultures through one faith. However, this has also created a lot of trouble as some cultures have been swallowed up by others. • 41. The Downfall And Vice As A Tale Of A Tub And The Battle Of... The prominence of Jonathon Swift and his work is undeniable in the Eighteenth Century. Swift s emergence into the literary world was spurned on by writing about politics and religion with his strong opinions and wit. Other famous works by Swift include A Tale of a Tub and The Battle of the Books based on the corruptions in religion and learning at the time. Swift s works in literature were often written to further a cause or reaction. The idea of the antagonising satirist is reiterated in a conversation between Pope and Swift, with Swift stating The chief end I propose in all my labours is to vex the world rather than divert it . Swift aims to educate readers on what is actually going on at the forefront of culture at the time through his works, with the embodiment of human downfall and vice being satirised through the characters of Gulliver s Travels. Swift began working on book by 1721, with the parts being written in sequence to begin with. Parts I and II were finished by late 1723 with Part IV being completed by January 1724. This lead to Part III being finished and the entire works being under revision in early 1725. Swift sent the manuscript to Benjamin Motte, a bookseller at that time. Before publishing Gulliver s Travels Motte edited the text fearing the crown and court prosecution. The first edition was published on the 28th October 1726, with the first print selling out within a week. The novel was published two more times before 1727, before being translated

Merion Veenom Soccer Tribe Analysis Tribe, described by the dictionary as, Any aggregate of people united by ties of descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions , can cause many people to often tumble into disagreement with one another over the meaning of this word. Arguments have lead people to believe that the word triberefers to a group of people that are primitive and savage, but Archeologists have cleaned up the meaning. Archaeologists define the word tribe as, A political group that comprises several bands or lineage groups, each with similar language and lifestyle and each occupying a distinct territory (Keim, pg. 114). The word tribe not only applies to the Native Americans as one would think. Tribe can be a label applied to any specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each player in the team may have separate backgrounds, but when united they all believe in a few things. The team itself believes that they always need to be focused and always need to show up with intensity whether they have a practice or a game. The Venom, were a newly created soccer team in 2014 by coach Steve Baron. They understand their world as a place to get better, and a place to compete. Every single kid on the team understands the other teams as enemies that they need to concor. Each child has a different life story about how they became the person they were. For example, some kids were born in Bryn Mawr, Philadelphia, and some kids were born in Trinidad and Tobago. The kids come from many different backgrounds, but all unite because they understand the world the same. Alike the Native Americans and African tribes, the Venom perform the same rituals before each game and practice. They eat the same foods, always healthy, and they get themselves loose in the same way each time. They always eat healthy foods like salads, fruits, and vegetables but they never eat something that could weight them down like junk food. Before each game, the team performs the same warm up, they jog, they spring, they do high knees, etc. These rituals before a game never change, similar to how the Native Americans rituals never change. Because many of the members come from different backgrounds, there is a stern difference between how they differentiate themselves. Many kids show up to practices in clothes that they wear on a daily basis, so for some people, that s different. Kids show up in jackets, shorts, gloves, hats, jerseys, anything under the sun. The catch is that they are always unique, the outfits are never similar to the others. Although we all share the same interests, we all differentiate from another because of our styles of life. In 2014, the team was created,
  • 44. Europe s Influence On Western Europe Western Europe is a term that was used to describe a region where many countries, such as Britain, France and Germany, which joined after World Wars, shared the same history. In another perspective, it was also sometimes referring to a region where countries shared the same value: capitalism and democracy. Throughout the history, because of difference events, the position of Western Europein the world has also changed. Before 1914, due to the rapid development of the Enlightenment ideas and the industrialization in Britain and France, the world major powers centrally seated in Western Europe. However, as the Western European countries suffered huge losses from two World Wars, Western Europe has actually steadily marched East since the Great War. Moreover, as many new immigrants from the former colonized regions joined Western European countries, Western Europe also gained its economic and political cohesion as most countries became part of NATO and then the European Union. In the present days, while the idea of Western Europe has expanded to more countries, it became dominant in its continent and could be considered as a savior to many other nations. Prior to the 1914, many of the world great powers, such as Britain and France were centrally seated in Western Europe. In the 18th century, Britain and France soon developed rapidly due to the birth of the Enlightenment idea, which challenged the tradition and put more emphasis on the reasons (Hunt et al. 577). As a

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Essay Rene Steele Mr. Ryan Strunz College Prep English 9 January, 2015 College Bound Novel: One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey is a brilliant novel copyrighted in 1963 it is about a man testing his limits with his authority, the nurse. Ken Kesey was influenced to write this novel after being part of a experiment involving the effect LSD had on people s minds.( One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest Background. ) This novel shows what I believe are true aspects of the way our world conceives people within a mental institution. The novel starts with Bromden, the narrator also a patient of the institution, sweeping the halls while the nurse targets the black men. Soon after McMurphy is brought in as a new admission, patient. Immediately everybody notices his presence because of how he carries himself when he gets their. When he first comes in he goes into the day room and introduces himself to everyone. He then brings a level of intimidation to all of the patients and lets them know that he is going to be taking over. He first brings gambling into the hospital betting with cigarettes, and he soon becomes top dog at the hospital not letting anyone even come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Invisibility is a very displayed theme when it comes to Bromden within the novel. Bromden is seen to be a deaf dumb Indian however he is not deaf. Which allows him to be observant without anyone thinking twice about it. McMurphy is the only character that breaks through his barrier of invisibility and makes a close relationship with him. The second theme I found is the power of intimidation, I notice this as a theme because McMurphy has gained a lot of power over all of the residents because of intimidation. He has the ability to get into their minds and change decisions they may or may not want to make, which helps him get away with all of the bad things he bring into the hospital.(Kesey,
