How Does Hawthorne Use Paradoxes In The Scarlet Letter
In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve received an amazing gift from god: the Garden of Eden. He
gave them everything they could possibly need plus a tree the Tree of Knowledge from which they
were not to eat. Eve fell into Satan s temptations and took the fruit from the forbidden tree, causing
Adam to follow her example. Much like Adam and Eve, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester
Prynne are cast out for their sin in The Scarlet Letter. They both suffer through their sins and
transgression of society s norms, but each in different ways. Hester faces the public consequences and
keeps her integrity, whereas Dimmesdale never confesses and loses it. In The Scarlet Letter,
Hawthorne uses paradoxes and biblical allusions to convey that because everyone sins; sinning does
not affect a person s morality, not admitting to being a sinner does.
Through Hawthorne s use of paradoxes, he reveals his message that due to the pervasiveness of sin,
being a sinner does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to sin does. While Hawthorne makes
it clear that other people within the community sin, only one person in the novel was ever publicly
vilified Hester. Hawthorne intrudes into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hawthorne depicts this through the sins of Hester and Dimmesdale only one admits to their sin, and
only one is an honorable person. This trend of sinning is not only seen within Hawthorne s novel, it is
seen in real life. Sin is everywhere, ranging from the little white lie to murder but what people need to
realize is that sin is not the problem, the denial of sin is. There is not a person in the world who has not
sinned, calling them all immoral is not only absurd but impossible. As Ecclesiastes 7:20 puts it, there
is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never

Target Market Strategy
Based on the research of Coffeeberry and situation analysis, the core customers are nearby residents
and students from University of La Verne. Therefore, the volume of customers is roughly around
5000. Coffeeberry is located in old town La Verne, and right next to University of La Verne. The very
basic reason why Coffeeberry pick up this location is because it is a downtown area and a lot of
businesses are centered here, where people living nearby and students from the university hang out.
The competitors, who also offer coffee products, including Circle K, Starbucks, McDonald s and Miss
Donut Bagel, etc.
According to the researched the demographics of City of La Verne. According to the 2012 statistical
summary of City of La Verne (ci.la verne.ca.us), population was 31,461, which means it is a very
small and private town with a very small population. The median age was 43.1, which indicates the
population consists of senior people. Besides, there were 11,366 households and median household
income was 73,541, which was higher than average household income in Los Angeles County.
Therefore, a lot of residents have more time and money to enjoy coffee in store. Meanwhile, students
from University of La Verne are very important parts of the target customers, because young college
students love to hang out with peers and enjoy coffee. Some of the students also enjoy sitting in store
drinking coffee while doing their homework and stuffs

Seattle Pitting Research Paper
On March 23, 1954, Seattle newspapers reported citizens finding pits and glass bubbles within their
car windshields at a town 80 miles from Seattle. Police investigated and initially brushed it off as
vandalism, albeit without much proof. It did not seem like a serious case, after all...until more reports
of similar damages popped up on April 14th from another town 65 miles away, and on that same
evening, in Seattle itself. Hundreds of people phoned Seattle police between the 14th and 15th,
reporting the same pittings and dings in their windshields. Seattle citizens entered a state of confusion
and paranoia, to the point where the mayor had begun to look to President Eisenhower for help when
not even the police could find the cause for this. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such dire sounding headlines only fueled the people s fear of nuclear war more. Upon hearing news of
the affected fishermen and the sheer power of such H bombs, people began to fear not only of other
countries, like Soviet Russia, planning to develop similar, if not more destructive hydrogen bombs, but
American bomb testings affecting them. Following atmospheric testing of hydrogen bombs in 1954,
people in and around Seattle, Washington began to report mysterious pitting damage to auto
windshields. [...] The incident was shortly followed by a nationwide rush to buy fallout shelter plans
(Miller 136) The H bomb testings seemingly spelling doom, according to 1950s media, did not help
survival plans make people feel any safer, either. The film, Duck and Cover, was shown to
schoolchildren beginning in 1950. The cartoon turtle, the cheerful theme song, and the practical advice
were supposed to reassure children who might worry about an atomic attack. Instead, the images of
little Johnny diving off his bicycle convinced children that the bombs could fall at any moment and
gave them nightmares (Walbert). The 1950s was a time where many were scared of being under
nuclear attack, children and adults alike. Thus, the unexplainable windshield pittings in Seattle had
people easily jumping to a conclusion of nuclear fallout being behind the pittings. Those in Seattle
who were in support of this view ... claimed that they found tiny, metallic looking particles about the

Reagan Administration s Foreign Policy in Latin America...
Reagan Administration s Foreign Policy in Latin America
Throughout the Cold War the United States considered the installation in Latin America of radical
regimes socialist, Marxist Leninist, or leftist in any way to be utterly intolerable. Any such
development would represent an advance for the communist cause and a vital loss for the West.
Acceptance of this outcome could weaken the credibility of the United States as the leader of the west
and as a rival for the USSR. In the eyes of Cold Warriors, the consolidation of any left wing regime in
the Western Hemisphere would have dire and perilous implications for U.S. national security and for
the global distribution of power. It was therefore crucial to resist this possibility by ... Show more

The next day Reagan signed an executive order approving the invasion. A combined force of 1,900 US
Marines and army airborne troops launched an assault on Grenada. All significant military objectives
were achieved in roughly 36 hours. Reagan justified the operation as an effort to protect US citizens
whose safety was threatened because a gang of leftist thugs (Lake 182) had seized power to forestall
further chaos, and assist in restoration of democracy.
In El Salvador, a mountainous coffee growing country of 5 million citizens was ruled by an unholy
alliance of large scale landowners and military officers. Acceleration of agriculture exports during the
1960 s led to an increased concentration of rural holdings by large scale landowners and in turn
increased the percentage of peasants who had no land at all. A reformist challenge to the status quo
came through the Christian Democratic Party, under the leadership of José Duarte. As mayor of San
Salvador, Duarte built strong connections with intellectuals, professionals, and other middle class
groups that if the military hadn t interfered and imposed dictatorial rule he would have surely won the
election for presidency in 1972. Fake elections in 1977 led to the installation of General Carlos
Humberto Romero as president, who imposed a law to defend and guarantee public order. Duarte
himself was imprisoned, tortured, and exiled but never fled to the hills. A

Music Concert Report On Sunday, May10 2015, a concert was held in The Broad Stage. The concert
was played by Santa Monica College Symphony Orchestra, whose conductor is Dr. James Martin. For
this concert, I would identify myself as a referential listener at this concert. I say this because I am not
an expert in music, therefore it would be hard for me to be a critical listener. I wouldn t be able to tell
what went wrong with a performance even if some incorrect notes were played. I was more of a
referential listener because the music was soothing and brought my mind to peaceful thoughts. This
essay will tells my experience of the concert in order to persuade my friend to attend a classical music
concert with you in the future. There were a total of four music pieces performed. They were Overture
from the Singspiel , Concerto in e minor , Concerto on b minor,opus 104 , and Symphony#2 in b

It has been shown that one of the strongest effects of music on the brain is in the area of memory. A
tempo of a steady rate of 60 beats per minute is shown to be ideal for positive effects on one s memory
as it is proven that the silence between two musical notes triggers the brain cells and neurons, which
are responsible for the development of sharp memory. Classical music fits into both of these criteria s,
proving that it is the most beneficial music genre for improving one s intellectual ability.
Research has also proven that classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and pulse
rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able to
concentrate more easily.
The Mozart effect is a phenomenon that states that when an individual listens to classical music, their
intellectual and motor abilities increase and become more efficient. It has a profound effect on young
children because their minds are still developing at a rapid rate and their neural pathways are easily
influenced.
The music composed by Mozart has a 60 beat per minute pattern that is repetitive throughout his
pieces. This pattern activates the right and left hemispheres of the brain and it strengthens the
connections between the neurons that connect the two halves. Strengthening of the neural connections
leads to more efficient information processing because the brain must concentrate on comprehending
multiple stimuli and it therefore

The Characteristics Of Self-Government In Colonial America
From the earliest starting point the English pioneers appreciated a more substantial level of self
government then the other European pilgrims. As more explorers migrated to the colonies and rooted
their lives in colonial America, they began to feel isolated from the world they knew. Consequently,
this isolation from the English rule marked a very difficult start to a new beginning and necessitated a
gradual transition from the English culture to the American culture. Moreover, with this new American
culture, the newcomers throughout the colonies began to think differently than their English cousins.
Having the Atlantic Ocean operate as a buffer from English influence, the primitive societies began to
assimilate and vote on their ideas of freedoms, rights and tolerances, and put them into legal
documents. Accordingly, this display of democratic character was the beginning deviation from
England s monarchic ways that set the New World on the path to a Democratic Society. Having the
habit of self government from the very beginning, the colonist readily accepted the New American
culture with concepts such as Majority rule , All Men are Created Equal , and Religious Tolerance .
The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be
examples of majority rule, and in the different sides of the ever changing governmental structures.
This characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who

Engagement In Criminal Behavior Essay
Engagement in Criminal Behavior
Social control theory explains engagement in criminal behavior by the five informal social controls
which are, social and organizational ties, neighborhood attachment, happy with the police work in the
neighborhood and legal cynicism, if these norms are not followed then this is where deviant and
criminal behavior comes into play. If the area is not involved in any type of groups for instance,
religious groups, neighborhood watch program, crime prevention program etc, many different
programs they have available keep citizens, especially youths out of trouble because neighbors are
constantly keeping an eye out, and spreading wisdom to the children as well.
Before laws are established in certain communities many suburbs ... Show more content on

The way the community can prevent this behavior is by looking out for the neighbor to make sure
there is no unknown stranger walking around, having a neighborhood watch program so no property is
being destroyed. Neighbors can keep an eye out for one another s children, to make sure they are not
involved in any deviant behavior.
Thus, we conceptualize informal social control as the willingness of neighborhood residents to
actively engage in behaviors aimed at preventing criminal and deviant behavior in the local area, with
a particular emphasis on the deviant behavior of youth, (Silver and Miller, 2004, p.553). Another key
factor is social cohesion; this is the blocks capacity to be able to take away from crime and deviance to
a minimum. Neighbors are able to exercise informal social control over youths due to social and
organizational ties, neighborhood attachment, happy with the police work in the neighborhood, and

Eating Disorders As A Female Disorder
ABSTRACT
Eating disorders are one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the United States. Although this
disease is typically viewed as a female disorder, males are greatly affected and may go undiagnosed
and untreated due to the attached stigma. Thus, it is important to understand the risk factors associated
with the development of eating disorders in males. These risk factors include: athletic involvement,
sexual orientation, pre morbid obesity, and adverse childhood experiences. Eating disorder type and
symptom presentation also varies between males and females. Males typically do not meet the criteria
to be categorized as Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa, causing their condition to be classified as
Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. Symptom presentation is likely to include binge eating and
excessive exercise rather than restrictive eating, purging, or other compensatory methods commonly
seen in the female population. Several eating disorder assessments are available for use in clinical
practice, most of which have been geared toward the female gender. New assessments, such as the
Eating Disorder Assessment for Males, have been developed recently to try to hone in on the typical
male symptomatology and their psychological processes. Prompt treatment of eating disorders,
regardless of gender, is necessary to prevent the development of medical and psychological
comorbidities. This process cannot begin until the diagnosis has been made; therefore, additional

Vaccines And The Anti Vaccine Argument
As healthy as my lifestyle seemed, I contracted measles, mumps, rubella, a type of viral meningitis,
scarlatina, whooping cough, yearly tonsillitis, and chickenpox, some of which are vaccine preventable
(Parker 1). This quote by vaccine advocate Amy Parker, a woman who was not vaccinated as a child,
shows just a glimpse into the life of an unvaccinated individual. Parents who do not vaccinate their
children claim many different reasons for their decision. Three of the most popular reasons are:
religious grounds, health problems as a result from vaccines, and the belief that the illnesses are rare.
Each of these reasons can be proven as nonessential in the anti vaccine argument. First of all, religion
has become a frequently used excuse. Recently, a case arose in New York City when three families
obtained vaccination exemptions due to religious reasons (NYC Court 1). Because they chose to not
vaccinate their children, their children were not allowed to attend school during times when another
student had a vaccine preventable illness (NYC Court 1). Naturally, this sparked an uproar among the
parents, who then sued the city by claiming it was a violation of their First Amendment right to
religious freedom and their 14th Amendment right to equal protection under the law (NYC Court 1).
The dogma of several mainstream religions references vaccines and whether or not they are necessary.
For example, the Catholic Church strongly supports vaccination, even making it a moral and

Lily as the Goddess Diana in The House of Mirth
One of the tragedies in The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton is that Lily Bart is unable to marry
Laurence Selden and thereby secure a safe position in society. Their relationship fluctuates from
casual intimacy to outright love depending on how and where Selden perceives Lily. Selden sees a
beautious quality in Lily Bart that is not present in any of the other women in the novel. This
mysterious beauty that is so often alluded to, in addition to her attraction for the other men, is best
understood when Lily is conceived of as the goddess Diana. As Diana, Lily Bart hunts for the perfect

Even at the very beginning of the novel, we notice that Lily chooses Selden s street because it is the
only street that has trees on it, some one has had the humanity to plant a few trees over there. Let us
go into the shade (8). The most intimate conversation between them will occur while sitting in a beech
grove after having walked through the woods. It is therefore safe to say that when Lily is in the woods
her true nature emerges, the nature that Selden considers to be real and that he falls in love with. This
explains why, during the theatrical presentation at the Wellington Brys party, Selden is so deeply
affected by the portrait of Lily. She emerges wearing a white dress as part of a Reynold s painting,
Mrs. Lloyd , but captivates the audience with her naturalness: Her pale draperies and the background
of foliage against which she stood served only to relieve the long dryad like curves that swept upward
from her poised foot to her lifted arm (142). Again we see a direct comparison with Diana. Selden is
so taken in by this scene that he completely agrees with Gerty Farish when she says, It makes her look
like the real Lily the Lily I know (142). His love for Lily is strengthened by the fact that he and Gerty
are the only two people who know what Lily really is like. Selden watches the other men judging Lily,
and shares a his thoughts with the reader, making the beautiful

Racial Identity
Introduction:
As someone who identifies as a multi racial woman, I have found that my racial location in society has
been different based on who I am around. I am of lighter skin, and I have acknowledged I am more
privileged than a woman who is darker than me. As a multi racial woman, I at times have had to make
sure I fit in based on who I was surrounded by. I am aware that in ways I do benefit from white
privilege, but in a lot of ways I am still put into the subordinate group by the dominate racial groups. I
fully became aware of my racial identity as a child, going to a predominately white elementary school.
After my encounters with some of the peers and teachers at this school, I became aware that I was
different , and for the first time not feeling fully accepted into my peer groups.
Dominant/subordinate spectrum:
As stated before I identify as a multi racial woman. I am African American, White, and Lebanese.
Racially I can fall into both subordinate and dominate groups. I am a lighter skinned, multi racial
woman, and in many ways, have been treated differently compared to those who have a darker skin
tone. Because lighter skin is viewed as more acceptable, I have been treated better by the dominant
racial group. The fact that my skin is lighter does put me at the higher end of the dominant spectrum. I
am taken more seriously, because my skin is lighter, I am more legitimate in the eyes of some.
Although my skin is lighter I am still placed into the subordinate

Factors That Affect The Child
A child is somebody under the age of 18 who is dependent on their parents. According to the NSPCC,
the UN Convention on the rights states that a child is anybody under the age of 18. All around the
world the age of a child depends on the culture in which the child is born into. In some societies, they
believe that children are socially constructed which relates to the historical, cultural and social factors.
It depends on where the child is born for their construction and what it means to the child, this then
relates to the birth lottery. The birth lottery can cause problems for the child which could affect their
life chances. There are three factors that could affect the child; economical factors (this concerns a lot
of the time money and social status), cultural factors (religion and ethnicity) and social factors (social
class). All three of theses factors can impact the child massively, again it depends on the birth lottery;
where the child is born; what the race of the child is; whether the child is born into poverty or wealth
and also the gender of the child. A lot of things goes off children s parents so, for example, social
mobility, where it goes off the parent s income and social status, the child just follows their parents.
Low income can affect the child s health, living and education. If children living in poverty it could
mean they are dealing with harsh experiences. In the UK alone there is 3.9 million children living in
poverty (Child Poverty

Christian Teachings on Poverty and Wealth Essay
Christian Teachings on Poverty and Wealth
Ever since the beginning of the Christian faith, poverty and wealth have been a big issue. Before Jesus
was born, the rich would use religion to keep the poor away from them. The wealthy thought their
riches were a blessing from God and that their faith and dedication was a reason for God bestowing
them with wealth. They believed that the poor were not true followers of God and therefore suffered
with poverty. They thought that the poor were not as important in the eyes of God. However, Jesus
himself was born in a poor family and he was born in a stable where the animals were kept. For you

This was what Jesus was particularly against and believed that this was what would prevent a select
few from reaching heaven. Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. But woe to
you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. Luke 6: 20 and Luke 6:24. He believed
that, You cannot serve both God and money. Luke 16:13. All men and women were equal in God s
eyes regardless of status and wealth: There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female,
for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26.
In the Bible, Saint James said that the most important people in heaven were the outcasts of society
making them one of the most loved people of God: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the
eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
James 2:5. In 1Timothy 6:10, Saint Paul said that For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
Through this quote, Saint Paul emphasizes that monetary problems lead to most wrong doings such as
stealing, corruption and gambling. Saint Paul did not condemn money or wealth and neither did Jesus
but said that the love of money was wrong and this is what kept a rich man from entering heaven. He
also said that, Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will
also reap generously.

Analysis Of Big Pharma s Power Over Congress
Even if reference pricing when brought to market did work effectively without stifling innovation, the
process of creating a new act to instate a reference pricing law would be far too long and drawn out to
make such a risk worthwhile. Just getting such a bill to the point where Congress would vote on it
would be a long and winding road of pushing the bill through committees and rewriting parts of it to
get the house and senate to even consider passing it, likely taking close to a year if successful. And
even getting to the voting stage, such a bill would have a very low chance of passing through
Congress. This is because, as Mundy states, Big Pharma s power over lawmakers in both parties,
makes it extremely difficult for such a bold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It, as stated earlier, has many of the same traits that commonly posed solutions like reference pricing
do. But it takes what these solutions have and expands upon it, by encouraging innovation rather than
stifling it and offering the important power bestowed to Congress to march in when not properly
enforced. Although stated in the act that Congress may march in when the guidelines of the act are not
being followed (as they aren t), the government has never once exercised its right to march in, and
there only has been five attempts (petitions from patients, advocacy groups, or corporations) to get the
government to invoke march in rights (Mundy). Also, Bayh Dole has never been publicly discussed by
any administration so far (Arno and Davis). The lack of action by Congress can be attributed to
pharmaceutical company s hold on Congress as mentioned earlier, and the lack of public knowledge or
push for the act. With only five attempts by the public to get Congress to march in and not many
institutions really talking about the Bayh Dole Act, it s no wonder not much has been done. If more
attention were brought to the Bayh Dole Act through petitions and focus groups as Mundy discusses,
Congress could be more eager to exercise their march in rights. Also, if more government agencies
such as the National Institute of Heath talked about the Bayh Dole Act and its

Why Is Medea Filicide
Argumentative Essay Rough Draft Filicide is the deliberate act in which a parent kills his or her own
children. In Euripides Medea, Medea commits filicide along with murder of a princess. Medea was
married to a man named Jason who divorced her and married the princess, Glauce. Medea was so
upset by this that she killed his new wife and her and Jason s children. When Medea s quest for
revenge leads her to slaughter innocent beings, and some call her justified, but there are many reasons
why this is not the case. Those who believe Medea was just in her murders agree that Medea was
betrayed by Jason in his breaking of marriage oaths, and in order to bring justice, feels the need to
bring suffering to him. Kim Zarins refers to Medea as ¨a victim of Jason s false love¨ (Zarins 2) Medea
loved him so passionately and then hated him so much that she was unaware of except her desire for
vengeance. David Allsop said,¨ Medea s love of Jason stems from an oath made in the Argonautica, in

Dictionary.com defines justice as ¨the administering of deserved punishment or reward¨ (Justice). As
Princess Glauce her children did nothing to deserve their murders, Medea is clearly unjust in this act.
But in order to hurt Jason as much as possible, which, in her opinion, is only fair, Medea takes away
what was most important to him: his children and his new wife, a potential child bearer. David Sacks
says, ¨The primary purpose of marriage in ancient Greece was to produce children¨ (1). Jason said, ¨I
wanted... to be the father of royal children bound by blood to our two children: a thing which would
have brought welfare¨ (Euripides ?). Jason makes it clear that being a father is very important to him,
not only to his living children, but hopefully to royal children in the future. Medea takes away this
opportunity, causing maximum suffering to

Common Misunderstanding about Buddhism
A common misunderstanding of about Buddhism exist today, especially in the concept of
reincarnation. Since the origin of Buddhism derived from India where most people practice Hinduism
during that time, the common misunderstanding is that many people believes that when one passed on
and reincarnate, the individual possess the same souls as the one before. This is wrong because the
Buddhism does not believed in a permanent self in one s body.
The doctrine of Buddhism is to attain enlightenment and be released from the cycle of rebirth and
death, thus attaining Nirvana. Whereas, the doctrine of Hinduism was to escape the cycle of
reincarnation, and attain salvation. In Buddhism, rebirth occurs as a result of ignorance in the
unconscious life stream at the time of death. This term means a mind containing illusion and
defilement such as frustration, greed and selfishness are among them. The unconscious life stream is
considered to be endless stream of energy stretching back into the past and future. It is sometimes
known as the Mind.
Karma, being a powerful energy act upon the unconscious life stream and a rebirth occurs. This new
Rebirth does not occur with the any similar characteristic as the previous person had, because these
characteristics were completely erased during death. The only thing during the rebirth of the person is
the Mind. The mind is also an insubstantial energy, in other words it neither physical nor is it spiritual
properties but supernatural energy

Corruption Of Power And Polipulation In Animal Farm, By...
Could you imagine a world where animals could read, write, work, and be able to take care of
themselves without the use of humans. The book Animal Farm by George Orwell explains this whole
new world where animals rule. There s bloodshed, leadership roles, corruption of power, and
manipulation among the animals. Orwell bases these events on the Russian revolution and the Stalinist
era. Napoleon being in relation to Stalin takes complete control over the animal farm and his morals
become corrupt. Squealer one of the many pigs who chose to follow Napoleon s ruling, he serves as
Napoleon s control over the animals by spreading his propaganda throughout animal farm. Through
the propaganda and impressive rhetorical skills of squealer, reality is shaped by words of
manipulation, for better or for worse.
Furthermore to the Russian revolution and Stalinists era, Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union
who would do absolutely anything as far as murder just to stay in control. Stalin had exiled Trotsky
because he always disagreed with him. Similarly Napoleon murdered anyone that had leagued
themselves with Snowball, who he had exiled. On to Vyacheslav Molotov who was a protege of
Stalin, ordered death warrants during the Great Purge, and basically did almost anything Stalin told
him to. Also the Newspaper, Pravda was used by Stalin to get the Russian citizens to join his political
point of view. In the same way, Squealer tries to convince the animals that Life under Napoleon was
better than any other scenario.
Therefore Squealer has the main role of eliminating all oppositions towards Napoleon. For example,
there was a new order in which all the windfalls were to be collected and brought to the pigs. When
Squealer explains that the pigs need the milk and apples for their health and that they are the brains of
the farm and without them Jones would come back. During his speech, Squealer skips back and forth
while saying Surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back? This means the
explanation is parallel because he doesn t directly say for certain the truth in the matter, he skips over
specific words. Another example is when Squealer convinces the animals that Boxer was sent to a
hospital when

I would imagine the past lingers there as it does in Washington DC, an area so saturated in historical
significance that it almost feels as if you are witnessing the past firsthand. Much as I enjoyed touring
destinations such as Mount Vernon and the Smithsonian museums, I believe the same overwhelming
sense of being transported back in time would envelop me there. I have always loved experiencing the
echoes of history firsthand, and London would allow me to explore a whole new corner of the globe.
There are of course the obvious destinations to visit such as Big Ben and the Tower of London, but I
would also wish to visit the Enigma machine in Bletchley Park and the Hunterian Museum (which

time at sea making difficult to study their behavioural tendencies. Rarely interact with one another
outside courtship and mating. Even when large numbers of turtles gather on feeding grounds or during
migration, little behavioural exchange among individuals. Their typical daily routine includes feeding

at the surface while in deep water or on the bottom wedged between rocks or under ledges in reefs.
Courtship Mating: Mating is believed to occur during a limited receptive period prior to the females
first nesting emergence. During mating season, males may court a female by nuzzling her head or by
gently biting the back of her neck and rear flippers. If the female does not flea, the male attaches
himself to the back of the females shell by gripping her top shell with the claws in his front flippers.
He then folds his long tail under her shell to copulate. Copulatoon can take place either on the surface

Introduction
Background Henry Ford
Founded in 1903, Henry Ford managed to get investor support to open the first manufacturing
automobile company in Detroit, Michigan. Ford Motor Company has been known for its mass
production of vehicles using a perfected assembly line method and its innovations in the automobile
industry. Ford s famous Model T was developed as an innovative automobile that could be produced
quickly, while keeping the cost to a minimum. This allowed people with a lower income the
opportunity to afford an automobile. One of the biggest changes in the automobile industry occurred
in 1913 with the introduction of a perfected assembly line method. This assembly line method was the
one of the main reasons Ford Motor Company was able to keep the cost of vehicles and the production
time to a minimum. Ford also took the first step to increase wages of their employees above the
industry standard. Although it was still a very low value, Ford offered $5 per day which was a huge
improvement from the $2.34 per day that most companies offered.
By the 1930 s Ford was a primary target of the United Automobile Workers (UAW) union to increase
wages and working conditions. Despite attempts by Henry Ford to keep the Unions out of the
company, the Supreme Court rulings forced Ford to work with the UAW. Another sentence....

How To Dissected Frogs
I ve been tasked to write about a enjoyable educational activity I did at school. So today I ve chosen to
tell you guys about the time we dissected frogs in 7th grade. It was the funniest and the most smelliest
activity I have ever done and I ll tell you why. There are a lot of reasons it was the funniest and the
most smelliest activity. The first and obvious reason to why it smelled so bad was because of the frogs.
The frogs had been in a bucket that was filed with a stinky preservation liquid all school year so when
they opened the buckets it reeked. The smell of the open buckets quickly spread in the air and made
everybody cover their noses with their shirts. It was so bad that the smell even began to spread

How Did Martha Graham Integrate The Themes Of History
Countless artists have created works that integrate themes of historical events. Martha Graham, also
known as the Mother of Modern Dance, has produced several renowned pieces with this. I believe that
her piece, Panorama, is a great example of a piece that uses history that is timeless. The dance was
choreographed in 1935 for students at Bennington College in Vermont during their summer dance
workshops. These workshops contained unique American modern dancers and choreographers that
shared their ideas and technique. The piece is separated into three sections named, Theme of
Dedication, Imperial Theme, and Popular Theme . It premiered on August 14th, 1935. The set was
designed by Arch Lauterer and Mobiles were created by Alexander Calder. Panorama was performed
by 35 women all wearing red skirts and matching tops. I believe that Graham chose these costumes
because dresses are very feminine and many of her pieces have dresses as costumes. I also ... Show

they were watching them being taken away again. This left women very angry and frustrated. Dance

Things Fall Apart Literary Analysis Essay
Literary Analysis on Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe In the beginning, Achebe states that,
Fortunately among these people a man was judged according to his worth and not according to the
worth of his father (Achebe 8). This quote is a solid structure in defining what this book is truly about.
Okonkwo was not to be judged by his father s lack of integrity, and incoherent thinking abilities, but
by whom he is. Reputation plays a key role as a theme in this novel, along with Okonkwo s fear of
following his father s footsteps and the internal conflict that comes along with Okonkwo s battle with
himself and to keep the tribe united. Okonkwo is deeply concerned with his reputation throughout the
novel due to his fathers lazy actions. To prevent the chances of his pride being diminished, Okonkwo

But his whole life was dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness (Achebe 13). Fear is an
essential theme to understanding the internal conflict between the characters, and their own selves.
Many characters in this book share the common emotion of internal fear. Okonkwo lives in fear of the
possible outcome of ending up like his father and due to this struggle, he lives his life with a guilty
conscience. Okonkwo s lack of circumspect manners is what overrides his other thoughts and drives
him to lash out in ways such as killing his adopted child, Ikemefuma. After a few years, the tribe
agrees the the child must be killed and the moment Okonkwo decided to join them, was the moment
his biological son, Nwoye, lost all respect for his own father. The cause of Okonkwo s outlandish
actions is a result of the overwhelming sensation of fear that he receives, due to the thought of being
weak like his father. Meanwhile, while attending a funeral, Okonkwo accidentally murders a child

a. Discuss the combined message) and implications of Thomas Friedman s THREE video
presentations. How did the world become flat? What does it mean for businesses and for the expanded
work force (like you and me), now that the world is hyper connected and flat? Thomas Friedman s
videos discussing how the world is flat was in relation to the economy and not the actual geographical
structure. Globalization has taken over and while we have more information at our fingertips now
more so than ever we are on a flat playing field. We are part of a never ending global supply change
which is constantly changing, and companies must learn to adapt or fall away. The dot.com boom is
what led to the globalization, and it spiraled with outsourcing and global collaboration via the internet.
Average is no longer good enough, you must be above average in business to stay afloat and be
competitive. Gone are the days of businesses only having to appeal to their local and regional markets,
they must now appeal to global markets. With the ability to connected with each other throughout the
world, globalization began to make the world flat. Everyone is focused on the bottom dollar,
outsourcing is at an all time high and you can get information, data for free if you look hard enough
which contributes to the flattening. A global economy can become competitive with the appropriate
education, investments, stable government and infrastructure. The playing field has been leveled in
thanks to the internet and globalization.
How do we survive globalization and the world being flat, Friedman provides us with advice within
his videos on how to survive globalization and be competitive. Thinking like a waitress,

Analyzing The Aesthetics Of Figure Skating
Watching Evgeni Plushenko come to his victory for Russia once again in this Winter Olympics in
Vancouver, I found myself realising why figure skating has always been viewed as a very feminine
sport. They swing their arms dramatically with constant hand motions and exaggerate their facial
expressions. Every single routine is punctuated with these moves. The sparkly and rhinestone covered
costumes often look like they were designed for a children s beauty pageant. Dick Button, a gold
medalist in 1948 and 52, describes viewing them as being trapped in a windmill in the Metropolitan
Opera House costume department. 1 No wonder our society has always viewed figure skating as a
softer sport.2
The expressive nature and emphasis on aesthetics of figure skating is what makes it such a soft sport,
otherwise described as a sport for girls in this case, girly men. I felt like these men were constantly
trying to be graceful without being feminine yet their costumes did not help prove their masculinity
whatsoever. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plushenko scores low in this criterion but the notoriously flamboyant American male figure skater,

happened to design himself. Funny enough, Claude Mailhot, a French commentator even thought that
he might have lost points due to his costume and his body language during his performance in the

The Bombing Of Oklahoma City Bombing
The Oklahoma City bombing was a residential terrorist bomb assault on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal
Building in downtown Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. Completed by Timothy McVeigh and Terry
Nichols, the bombing crushed 33% of the building, murdered 168 individuals, and harmed more than
680 others. The impact wrecked or harmed 324 different structures inside a 16 piece span, smashed
glass in 258 adjacent structures, and decimated or smoldered 86 autos, creating an expected $652
million worth of harm. Broad salvage endeavors were embraced by nearby, state, government, and
overall offices in the wake of the bombing, and considerable gifts were gotten from the nation over.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) initiated eleven of its Urban Search and
Rescue Task Forces, comprising of 665 salvage laborers who helped with salvage and recuperation
operations. Inside a hour and a half of the blast, McVeigh was halted by Oklahoma State Trooper
Charlie Hanger for driving without a tag and captured for unlawful weapons ownership. Legal
confirmation immediately connected McVeigh and Nichols to the assault; Nichols was captured, and
inside days both were charged. Michael and Lori Fortier were later distinguished as assistants.
McVeigh, a U.S. volunteer army development sympathizer who was a Gulf War veteran, had exploded

The Negative Impact Of The Puritan Society In The Crucible
The Puritans were a religious minority group who believed that the Church of England needed to be
purified of the influence of Catholicism. The basis for the Puritan s belief was an emphasis on the
righteousness and sovereignty of God. They believed God directed all things by exercise, and directed
all things to an intelligent end. In the Puritan life they believed in staying true to the divine law but
doing everything in moderation. The Crucible shows the exact opposite of what the Puritan life is
supposed to be like. Some people had to suffer execution because of the rumors that were spread
throughout the community. In The Crucible they experienced things such as false rumors that were
spread throughout Salem. Not only did the things that they did cause turmoil, but it also caused a
negative impact to the Puritan society as a whole.
Faith was a central part of the Puritan experience, and this is where all other aspects of their society
emerged. In the Puritan Society, religious beliefs shaped early American relationships, between the
parents and their children. Based on their spiritual tribalism, Godly parents were more likely than
ungodly parents to produce Godly children. The New Testament was their model and their devotion so
great that it was spread throughout their entire society.
Great pains were endured to warn their members and especially their children of the dangers of the
world. Reading the bible was a necessity to living a pious life. The education of the next

Care designed to give supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness and focus on

Reason I Chose this Agency
Hospice care differs from other forms of medical care in that when the patient is dying, hospice works
hard to relieve needless suffering. Normally, a patient is approved for hospice care if his or her life
expectancy is 6 months or less. Hospice workers treat the person, rather than the disease. They aren t
trying to cure a disease, but rather, they are trying to make the patient as comfortable as possible.
Family and friends are encouraged to gather round and engage with the hospice patient. Many people
have the misconception that the dying want to be left alone, but why would they want to be
abandoned? Hospice is good for families, because they educate them on the dying process. Hospice
care can be rendered in the family home, a nursing home, or in a hospital. Normally the majority of
care is given by the family in the family home, or by nursing staff in a nursing home or hospital;
however there are also private in house hospice facilities for those that may not have the family
support. In the home, nursing home and hospitals the hospice workers come at specified times to work
with the dying patient. They spend take vital signs, offer palliative care, and also offer support for
family members. If you were to be admitted to hospice care you would find a great team of doctors,
nurses, social workers, counselors, home healthcare assistants,

At the start of this scene, as James is heading toward the graves it is mainly close up shots of James,
and then it begins to include shots of James family as well. These shots indicate that his family are
supporting him and the shots of him show that he is the main subject. As James and his family are
walking along the path towards the graves a very patriotic orchestral music is being played, the
rhythm is based on their footsteps,
every step James takes there is a beat of a drum. As they enter the grave yard the camera rises up
above the grave stones and shows the vast number of graves. The camera then moves to the graveyard
and whilst this is happening the music is still the same orchestral music but the beat of the drum is
heavier. As the camera moves over the grave stone American flag, this shows how patriotic this event
is. The effect of this is it hits you as to how many people have died pointlessly and a feeling of
empathy for James because of the loss of his friends. Then James Ryan falls to his knees in front of
one gravestone and he begins to cry. This is a close up shot of him then the transition begins. The
camera falls into James eyes and then you can hear the ocean, the waves crashing and the sound of
engines. This gives you a feeling of what it is like to be where they are. This sets the scene for this
moment; the camera comes onto a troop carrier, the camera

from bodily insecurity, to feeling exiled, to a time when we saw God s light in our lives. I made the

paths in their careers forcing the PACU managers to revise hiring requirements and open the PACU
doors to non ICU and new graduate nurses. In order to assist the new graduate nurses transition to

Jack Phillips Drawing A Line In The Gay Wedding Cake Case
In Drawing a Line in the Gay Wedding Cake case , the author John Corvino says that Jack Phillips, the
baker who refused to sell a wedding cake for a gay couple, was being discriminatory against the
customers. He didn t refuse to sell the cake because he just doesn t support homosexuality but because
he didn t like the fact that a gay couple went to his bakery. Although Phillips claims his actions are
protected by the first amendment of the Constitution, the truth is that he was violating the Constitution
by discriminating customers based on their sexual orientation. In 2012, a same sex couple attempted to
buy their wedding cake, but the owner refused to sell it. They didn t ask for anything unusual, like an

  • 2. How Does Hawthorne Use Paradoxes In The Scarlet Letter In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve received an amazing gift from god: the Garden of Eden. He gave them everything they could possibly need plus a tree the Tree of Knowledge from which they were not to eat. Eve fell into Satan s temptations and took the fruit from the forbidden tree, causing Adam to follow her example. Much like Adam and Eve, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne are cast out for their sin in The Scarlet Letter. They both suffer through their sins and transgression of society s norms, but each in different ways. Hester faces the public consequences and keeps her integrity, whereas Dimmesdale never confesses and loses it. In The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne uses paradoxes and biblical allusions to convey that because everyone sins; sinning does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to being a sinner does. Through Hawthorne s use of paradoxes, he reveals his message that due to the pervasiveness of sin, being a sinner does not affect a person s morality, not admitting to sin does. While Hawthorne makes it clear that other people within the community sin, only one person in the novel was ever publicly vilified Hester. Hawthorne intrudes into ... It did not seem like a serious case, after all...until more reports of similar damages popped up on April 14th from another town 65 miles away, and on that same evening, in Seattle itself. Hundreds of people phoned Seattle police between the 14th and 15th, reporting the same pittings and dings in their windshields. Upon hearing news of the affected fishermen and the sheer power of such H bombs, people began to fear not only of other countries, like Soviet Russia, planning to develop similar, if not more destructive hydrogen bombs, but American bomb testings affecting them. Following atmospheric testing of hydrogen bombs in 1954, people in and around Seattle, Washington began to report mysterious pitting damage to auto windshields. The film, Duck and Cover, was shown to schoolchildren beginning in 1950. The cartoon turtle, the cheerful theme song, and the practical advice were supposed to reassure children who might worry about an atomic attack. Instead, the images of little Johnny diving off his bicycle convinced children that the bombs could fall at any moment and gave them nightmares (Walbert). The 1950s was a time where many were scared of being under nuclear attack, children and adults alike. Reagan Administration s Foreign Policy in Latin America Throughout the Cold War the United States considered the installation in Latin America of radical regimes socialist, Marxist Leninist, or leftist in any way to be utterly intolerable. Any such development would represent an advance for the communist cause and a vital loss for the West. Acceptance of this outcome could weaken the credibility of the United States as the leader of the west and as a rival for the USSR. A tempo of a steady rate of 60 beats per minute is shown to be ideal for positive effects on one s memory as it is proven that the silence between two musical notes triggers the brain cells and neurons, which are responsible for the development of sharp memory. Classical music fits into both of these criteria s, proving that it is the most beneficial music genre for improving one s intellectual ability. Research has also proven that classical music from the baroque period causes the heart beat and pulse rate to relax to the beat of the music. As the body becomes relaxed and alert, the mind is able to concentrate more easily. The Mozart effect is a phenomenon that states that when an individual listens to classical music, their intellectual and motor abilities increase and become more efficient. It has a profound effect on young children because their minds are still developing at a rapid rate and their neural pathways are easily influenced. As more explorers migrated to the colonies and rooted their lives in colonial America, they began to feel isolated from the world they knew. Consequently, this isolation from the English rule marked a very difficult start to a new beginning and necessitated a gradual transition from the English culture to the American culture. Moreover, with this new American culture, the newcomers throughout the colonies began to think differently than their English cousins. Having the Atlantic Ocean operate as a buffer from English influence, the primitive societies began to assimilate and vote on their ideas of freedoms, rights and tolerances, and put them into legal documents. Accordingly, this display of democratic character was the beginning deviation from England s monarchic ways that set the New World on the path to a Democratic Society. Having the habit of self government from the very beginning, the colonist readily accepted the New American culture with concepts such as Majority rule , All Men are Created Equal , and Religious Tolerance . The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be examples of majority rule, and in the different sides of the ever changing governmental structures. This characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Engagement In Criminal Behavior Essay Engagement in Criminal Behavior Social control theory explains engagement in criminal behavior by the five informal social controls which are, social and organizational ties, neighborhood attachment, happy with the police work in the neighborhood and legal cynicism, if these norms are not followed then this is where deviant and criminal behavior comes into play. If the area is not involved in any type of groups for instance, religious groups, neighborhood watch program, crime prevention program etc, many different programs they have available keep citizens, especially youths out of trouble because neighbors are constantly keeping an eye out, and spreading wisdom to the children as well. Thus, we conceptualize informal social control as the willingness of neighborhood residents to actively engage in behaviors aimed at preventing criminal and deviant behavior in the local area, with a particular emphasis on the deviant behavior of youth, (Silver and Miller, 2004, p.553). Another key factor is social cohesion; this is the blocks capacity to be able to take away from crime and deviance to a minimum. • 12. Eating Disorders As A Female Disorder ABSTRACT Eating disorders are one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the United States. Although this disease is typically viewed as a female disorder, males are greatly affected and may go undiagnosed and untreated due to the attached stigma. Thus, it is important to understand the risk factors associated with the development of eating disorders in males. These risk factors include: athletic involvement, sexual orientation, pre morbid obesity, and adverse childhood experiences. Eating disorder type and symptom presentation also varies between males and females. Males typically do not meet the criteria to be categorized as Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa, causing their condition to be classified as Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. Symptom presentation is likely to include binge eating and excessive exercise rather than restrictive eating, purging, or other compensatory methods commonly seen in the female population. Several eating disorder assessments are available for use in clinical practice, most of which have been geared toward the female gender. New assessments, such as the Eating Disorder Assessment for Males, have been developed recently to try to hone in on the typical male symptomatology and their psychological processes. Prompt treatment of eating disorders, regardless of gender, is necessary to prevent the development of medical and psychological comorbidities. This process cannot begin until the diagnosis has been made; therefore, additional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vaccines And The Anti Vaccine Argument As healthy as my lifestyle seemed, I contracted measles, mumps, rubella, a type of viral meningitis, scarlatina, whooping cough, yearly tonsillitis, and chickenpox, some of which are vaccine preventable (Parker 1). This quote by vaccine advocate Amy Parker, a woman who was not vaccinated as a child, shows just a glimpse into the life of an unvaccinated individual. Parents who do not vaccinate their children claim many different reasons for their decision. Three of the most popular reasons are: religious grounds, health problems as a result from vaccines, and the belief that the illnesses are rare. Each of these reasons can be proven as nonessential in the anti vaccine argument. First of all, religion has become a frequently used excuse. Recently, a case arose in New York City when three families obtained vaccination exemptions due to religious reasons (NYC Court 1). Because they chose to not vaccinate their children, their children were not allowed to attend school during times when another student had a vaccine preventable illness (NYC Court 1). Naturally, this sparked an uproar among the parents, who then sued the city by claiming it was a violation of their First Amendment right to religious freedom and their 14th Amendment right to equal protection under the law (NYC Court 1). The dogma of several mainstream religions references vaccines and whether or not they are necessary. For example, the Catholic Church strongly supports vaccination, even making it a moral and ... It is therefore safe to say that when Lily is in the woods her true nature emerges, the nature that Selden considers to be real and that he falls in love with. This explains why, during the theatrical presentation at the Wellington Brys party, Selden is so deeply affected by the portrait of Lily. She emerges wearing a white dress as part of a Reynold s painting, Mrs. Lloyd , but captivates the audience with her naturalness: Her pale draperies and the background of foliage against which she stood served only to relieve the long dryad like curves that swept upward from her poised foot to her lifted arm (142). Again we see a direct comparison with Diana. Selden is so taken in by this scene that he completely agrees with Gerty Farish when she says, It makes her look like the real Lily the Lily I know (142). • 15. Racial Identity Introduction: As someone who identifies as a multi racial woman, I have found that my racial location in society has been different based on who I am around. I am of lighter skin, and I have acknowledged I am more privileged than a woman who is darker than me. As a multi racial woman, I at times have had to make sure I fit in based on who I was surrounded by. I am aware that in ways I do benefit from white privilege, but in a lot of ways I am still put into the subordinate group by the dominate racial groups. I fully became aware of my racial identity as a child, going to a predominately white elementary school. After my encounters with some of the peers and teachers at this school, I became aware that I was different , and for the first time not feeling fully accepted into my peer groups. Dominant/subordinate spectrum: As stated before I identify as a multi racial woman. I am African American, White, and Lebanese. Racially I can fall into both subordinate and dominate groups. I am a lighter skinned, multi racial woman, and in many ways, have been treated differently compared to those who have a darker skin tone. Because lighter skin is viewed as more acceptable, I have been treated better by the dominant racial group. The fact that my skin is lighter does put me at the higher end of the dominant spectrum. • 16. Factors That Affect The Child A child is somebody under the age of 18 who is dependent on their parents. According to the NSPCC, the UN Convention on the rights states that a child is anybody under the age of 18. All around the world the age of a child depends on the culture in which the child is born into. In some societies, they believe that children are socially constructed which relates to the historical, cultural and social factors. It depends on where the child is born for their construction and what it means to the child, this then relates to the birth lottery. The birth lottery can cause problems for the child which could affect their life chances. There are three factors that could affect the child; economical factors (this concerns a lot of the time money and social status), cultural factors (religion and ethnicity) and social factors (social class). All three of theses factors can impact the child massively, again it depends on the birth lottery; where the child is born; what the race of the child is; whether the child is born into poverty or wealth and also the gender of the child. A lot of things goes off children s parents so, for example, social mobility, where it goes off the parent s income and social status, the child just follows their parents. Low income can affect the child s health, living and education. If children living in poverty it could mean they are dealing with harsh experiences. They believed that the poor were not true followers of God and therefore suffered with poverty. They thought that the poor were not as important in the eyes of God. Analysis Of Big Pharma s Power Over Congress Even if reference pricing when brought to market did work effectively without stifling innovation, the process of creating a new act to instate a reference pricing law would be far too long and drawn out to make such a risk worthwhile. Just getting such a bill to the point where Congress would vote on it would be a long and winding road of pushing the bill through committees and rewriting parts of it to get the house and senate to even consider passing it, likely taking close to a year if successful. Although stated in the act that Congress may march in when the guidelines of the act are not being followed (as they aren t), the government has never once exercised its right to march in, and there only has been five attempts (petitions from patients, advocacy groups, or corporations) to get the government to invoke march in rights (Mundy). Also, Bayh Dole has never been publicly discussed by any administration so far (Arno and Davis). The lack of action by Congress can be attributed to pharmaceutical company s hold on Congress as mentioned earlier, and the lack of public knowledge or push for the act. With only five attempts by the public to get Congress to march in and not many institutions really talking about the Bayh Dole Act, it s no wonder not much has been done. Medea was so upset by this that she killed his new wife and her and Jason s children. When Medea s quest for revenge leads her to slaughter innocent beings, and some call her justified, but there are many reasons why this is not the case. Those who believe Medea was just in her murders agree that Medea was betrayed by Jason in his breaking of marriage oaths, and in order to bring justice, feels the need to bring suffering to him. Kim Zarins refers to Medea as ¨a victim of Jason s false love¨ (Zarins 2) Medea loved him so passionately and then hated him so much that she was unaware of except her desire for vengeance. Since the origin of Buddhism derived from India where most people practice Hinduism during that time, the common misunderstanding is that many people believes that when one passed on and reincarnate, the individual possess the same souls as the one before. The book Animal Farm by George Orwell explains this whole new world where animals rule. There s bloodshed, leadership roles, corruption of power, and manipulation among the animals. Orwell bases these events on the Russian revolution and the Stalinist era. Napoleon being in relation to Stalin takes complete control over the animal farm and his morals become corrupt. Squealer one of the many pigs who chose to follow Napoleon s ruling, he serves as Napoleon s control over the animals by spreading his propaganda throughout animal farm. Through the propaganda and impressive rhetorical skills of squealer, reality is shaped by words of manipulation, for better or for worse. Furthermore to the Russian revolution and Stalinists era, Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union who would do absolutely anything as far as murder just to stay in control. Stalin had exiled Trotsky because he always disagreed with him. Similarly Napoleon murdered anyone that had leagued themselves with Snowball, who he had exiled. On to Vyacheslav Molotov who was a protege of Stalin, ordered death warrants during the Great Purge, and basically did almost anything Stalin told him to. Also the Newspaper, Pravda was used by Stalin to get the Russian citizens to join his political point of view. In the same way, Squealer tries to convince the animals that Life under Napoleon was better than any other scenario. Therefore Squealer has the main role of eliminating all oppositions towards Napoleon. For example, there was a new order in which all the windfalls were to be collected and brought to the pigs. When Squealer explains that the pigs need the milk and apples for their health and that they are the brains of the farm and without them Jones would come back. During his speech, Squealer skips back and forth while saying Surely there is no one among you who wants to see Jones come back? The Negative Impact Of The Puritan Society In The Crucible The Puritans were a religious minority group who believed that the Church of England needed to be purified of the influence of Catholicism. The basis for the Puritan s belief was an emphasis on the righteousness and sovereignty of God. They believed God directed all things by exercise, and directed all things to an intelligent end. In the Puritan life they believed in staying true to the divine law but doing everything in moderation. The Crucible shows the exact opposite of what the Puritan life is supposed to be like. Some people had to suffer execution because of the rumors that were spread throughout the community. In The Crucible they experienced things such as false rumors that were spread throughout Salem. Not only did the things that they did cause turmoil, but it also caused a negative impact to the Puritan society as a whole. Faith was a central part of the Puritan experience, and this is where all other aspects of their society emerged. In the Puritan Society, religious beliefs shaped early American relationships, between the parents and their children.
