BCG has launched its Telco Sustainability Index, designed to capture the four dimensions most relevant to a telco’s environmental strategy. The index tracks the company’s commitment to sustainability, its emissions intensity and that of its upstream and downstream partners, its elimination of waste, and its customer enablement.
The enterprise software industry is being transformed by substantial investor capital, Cloud 2.0, artificial intelligence, data protection, preferred platforms, and a talent shortage, leading stakeholders of all kinds to make big changes, and big choices.
The value of digitally influenced spending in emerging markets will approach $4 trillion by 2022, amounting to about 50% of all retail spending in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. But the dynamics will vary widely between markets, requiring B2C companies to “de-average” their offerings in order to succeed.

Now that China’s major online players have conquered the consumer space, they’re intent on, digitizing B2B industries and building platform-based businesses. China’s consumer internet is driving the development of the industrial internet, according to a new report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), AliResearch and the Baidu Development Research Center. Comparing the development of China’s consumer internet and industrial internet with foreign markets for the first time, the report systematically reviews China’s internet players’ entrance into the industrial internet, revealing the unique digitalization path in China and its underlying causes.
COVID-19’s uneven trajectory has created a slower-than-expected rebound in urban travel worldwide. Some mobility modes, however, are poised to exceed pre-pandemic levels. BCG provides a breakdown of recovery levels in urban mobility by region and mode--and over time.
What Does the Recovery of Demand for Urban Mobility Look Like Post-COVID-19?Boston Consulting Group
Based on a survey of 5,000 residents in china, the EU, and the US, BCG analyzed the likely recovery of demand in urban mobility following the COVID-19
outbreak. Ultimately—until a cure emerges—we expect we expect a major shift away from public transit toward private mobility modes, specifically private cars and bikes. But the magnitude of the shift will differ across the varied type of cities.
The Fourth Annual Global Mobility Study [hyperlink] by L.E.K. Consulting, Vision Mobility and CuriosityCX highlights that there is a much greater uptake of ride-hailing and other new mobility options in India and China than in mature western economies. With relatively low levels of car ownership and less developed public transport systems in these Asian countries, new mobility use is now comparable with and set to overtake traditional transport for a segment of the population.
EY Price Point: global oil and gas market outlook, Q2 | April 2022EY
The theme for this quarter is rearrangement. The loss, or potential loss, of Russian oil and gas supplies is forcing producers, refiners and traders to rethink the flow of crude oil and refined products from the wellhead to the gas pump in light of sanctions, potential sanctions and the risk of reputational damage. Countries, companies and consumers will all be searching for ways to adapt, and the outcome of the race to bring alternatives to market could alter the global energy landscape for years to come.
It is likely crude oil and LNG prices will remain elevated for some time. The process of diverting Russian oil through countries unwilling to sanction it will take time and there is little indication OPEC members are willing (or able) to increase production to make up for the loss of Russian crude. Spare capacity sat at 3.7 mbpd at the end of 2021, just above where it was in January 2020. Currently, sanctioned Venezuelan and Iranian production (about 3 mbpd below their peak) could fill the gap, but political and commercial obstacles remain. At today’s prices, US shale production is attractive, but the fastest the industry has been able to grow is between 1mbpd and 2mbpd per year. The LNG infrastructure was already stretched before the war in Ukraine and there is little prosect of finding new supplies soon.
As the largest buyer of Russian energy, Europe will be the epicenter. There is a deeply embedded bias there in favor for renewable energy, and the current crisis is certain to result in an all-out effort to accelerate the build-out of wind and solar power. The capacity to add new green energy is limited though by the project pipeline and supply chains for solar panels and wind turbines, and it is likely that much of the shortfall will be made up with the new LNG infrastructure.

OECD Green Talks LIVE: Moving the world economy to net zero: the role of tran...OECD Environment
To meet the temperature goals of the Paris Agreement, decarbonisation measures will need to be financed across all sectors of the economy — most importantly in energy-intensive and hard-to-abate sectors in emerging markets and developing economies. As governments and the private sector ramp up their net-zero pledges, grapple with the ongoing energy crisis and face rising inflation, how to achieve those goals is increasingly put into question.
In the midst of these challenges, market actors and jurisdictions have ramped up efforts around transition finance, such as developing taxonomies and guidelines. But transition finance is often criticised for opening the door to greenwashing and risking emission-intensive lock-in. How can we ensure the development of robust corporate transition plans to support credible and meaningful transition investments towards net zero? And how can emission-intensive lock-in and greenwashing be avoided?
Experts on transition finance and transition planning will present and discuss their importance for moving to net-zero pathways in hard-to-abate sectors and emerging markets and developing economies, as well as outstanding challenges in this space. The presentation will draw from the recent report OECD Guidance on Transition Finance: Ensuring Credibility of Corporate Climate Transition Plans (Find the report here: https://oe.cd/transition-fin), which proposes 10 key elements to help corporates in developing transition plans, financiers to identify credible investment opportunities, and policymakers to develop strong policy frameworks.

There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. "Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
