Political Campaigns
Funding for political campaigns requires lots of contributions. A campaign can receive an unlimited
amount of funding. The matter is from where do they receive this funding and how do they receive it.
For example people can donate as much money as they please to different types of committees called
super Pacs. A super Pac is a committee that is able to raise an unlimited amount of money via the way
of ads or cash without the candidate s direct involvement. These super PACs are legal through a
loophole in some disclosure laws. According to the Federal Election Commission, an individual is
allowed to contribute $2,700 per election to a candidate committee. An individual is also allowed to
contribute $33,400 per year to a national party ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Doctor Papbst Journal
Day 8 was a really slow day in my opinion, although it was super fun. Day 8 was Dr. Williams
birthday and he loves to celebrate his birthdays as all the coworkers would say. The first half of the
day we had 3 patients and all of them were hygiene so they just got their teeth cleaned and etc. On Dr.
Pabst side of the office, in my opinion it was pretty busy. The first patient came in to get fitted for
Invisalign. The dental assistant took impressions on him and Dr. Pabst came in to take so nice pictures
for his Invisalign profile. The second patient came in because he was experiencing severe pain on
tooth # 2. I ended up taking a radiograph on him and found a huge abscess. Dr. Pabst came in and

crown cemented on once again because she swallowed her first one and didn t realize it until she went
to go eat again. When Dr. Pabst went to go take all the temporary cement out she basically jumped out
of the chair in pain. She had a root canal done on the tooth in front of the crowned tooth because she
would not listen to Dr. Pabst when he said that it was time to have to filling done. When trying to put
the crown in her mouth she jumped again and Dr. Pabst was like you literally just got a root canal
done, this tooth should not be bothering you at all because the root is gone. She gave a little attitude
and said Well it does and he said well it shouldn t. SO apparently, she was supposed to take medicine
for the rest of the infection to go away and she never did, so he had a talk with her about taking the

Is The NFL Protest Of Kneeling In The Star Spangled Banner...
Though the NFL protest of kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner appears to be disrespectful at
first glance, if one really takes the time to investigate the issue they will see it is a justifiable way to
express their first amendment right. Kneeling is something people do when they pray to show great
respect toward their heavenly father. However, when one person kneels during the National Anthem
many people go and claim their actions are disrespectful without any knowledge of why they kneeled.
Many believe that the kneeling is to show disrespect toward the country. Well, it s not. The protest is
really just about those denying the most basic freedoms. According to Julius Peppers, this wasn t
about disrespecting the military, disrespecting the flag, police, first responders, none of that, and those
are the reasons people are thinking for why the players are protesting. When really according to SB
Nation NFL, The players are simply protesting systemic oppression against people of color, police
brutality, and the criminal justice system. The national anthem is just the vehicle for the protest.
Meaning people of color just want equal rights and want to be treated like humans instead of animals.
Many may believe that people of color have all equal rights, yet those people that believe that are
white and may not be educated on what is happening around them. If people educate themselves on to
why this protest is happening they will see that even veterans are agreeing

Media Bias Essay
Media Bias
Is the Media Bias? Many people including myself believe that it is. On the other hand, there are
people who believe that media is not biased and just states facts. These people (i.e. my dad), who
believe that media is not biased also believe that everything on TV is true, in my experience. We see
bias in media (print or broadcast) many times. It might be the subtlest of things that is unnoticeable to
more blatant attempts. The fact is bias is everywhere and it is very difficult to separate the two. The
reasons why it is difficult are not clearly understood by my self but I can point toward the fact that
everyone is the world has opinions and in some way or form it will be presented in the way they talk
or write. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, very quickly, the articles comes to candidate bashing by each candidate rather then
discussing the issues the articles focuses on what each other says about the other. One thing that really
stood out, in five of the seven articles, are discussions of George Bush s activities were discussed prior
to discussion of Al Gore. At first, I thought that maybe it was a fluke and writer was following an
alphabetical order procedure to present the article. But, when I read the two articles that discussed Al
Gore s activities first it struck me that this is a very important aspect of any writing. This struck me as
important because I believe that the position that the writer usually supports is the one that is
discussed first and the contrast it with another view. By discussing George Bush first the ideas of Bush
are imbedded in the mind and then when discussion of Al Gore is presented it is in the mind to
compare it with the previous discussion. This might not necessarily be true but I do feel strongly about
this claim. The reason why is, when someone wants to present a unbiased presentation they will
compare and contrast the positions of both candidates throughout the whole article and not separate it
into two sections. Next, words and phrases chosen to describe the candidates activities imply bias
towards Al Gore. In almost every article I found some words or phrases that gave the impression

The Windows that Changed Our World Essay
How Windows can change our lives? is the question of the hour. The Windows that is being spoken of
is the Windows operating program on the computer in the typical office, the typical home and even
and the typical classroom now. Windows is the primary and most popular operating system for these
personal computers. Computers have had a profound effect on the typical American s life over the last
fifteen years. Life in the U.S.A has changed because of the technological advances in micro computers
as they were once called. PC s as they are now called have transformed many aspects of how people

bad effects in the ways that computers have changed the way American s socialize. Social venues such
as Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, My Yearbook and others have brought together old friends and
become the place to meet new friends. People that have not connected in years reconnect. However a
problem in this new social world is the applications that are addicting. There are places , games, as in
Yoville, Farmville, My Town and many more that become addictive and steal family time and reality
away. People have even had to seek addiction help because of these social games. The popular
television personality Dr. Phil has had a Farmville addict on his television program to help her see
where she is neglecting her children and family. Another problem is the chat rooms give predators
another avenue to victimize children. Chris Hansen from MSNBC has a program, To Catch a Predator,

Personal Reflection Of My Humor Style And Mental Health
As humans, laughing and joking is something that comes natural. This is something that we have been
doing even before we knew how to walk or talk. As we start to grow up, we all develop personality
traits and our humor styles follow. Before taking this course, I have never consider identifying what
my humor styles are until now. I took the Humor Style Questionnaire (Martin et al. 2003) and
calculated that my top humor style is self enhancing and closely following is affiliative. Throughout
this paper I am going to reflect on my top humor styles with personal examples, and how it relates to
my mental health, with several methods I can use to make myself healthier and happier. I will also be
considering the other two styles and how then do not relate to my humor style and mental health. My
top humor style is self enhancing. According to the Humor Styles Questionnaire (Martin et al. 2003) I
am 5.2 points away from the women s average, that is a 36.8 for this style. According to an article that
I found, Individual differences in uses of humor and their relation to psychological well being:
Development of the Humor Styles Questionnaire, people with self enhancing humor style have a
humorous outlook on life and tend to be amused by its incongruities. Even when a person that has this
style is faced with stress and adversities, they still maintain a humorous outlook (Kuiper, Martin,
Olinger, 1993).
When I first realized that this is my top humor style I was a bit surprised, I

46 In The Day-Personal Narrative
It s 2:46 in the morning. Gracie, a 16 year old girl with long light brown hair with natural blonde
highlights and bright blue eyes, now dull, was walking home from a friend s party. It was a cold night
in Buffalo, New York and Gracie is now holding her fur jacket to her body for the warmth it gives.
She had been drinking with a couple friends just a half hour before.
Oh, I feel so sick, she groaned. Though her head and stomach hurt, she still walked on through the

started in a run this time, she just saw a man following her home! She needs to call someone; now.
She ran and ran until she found a small, quick stop on the corner and decided to go in there for help,
but she didn t make it far enough. The man stalking her, grabbed her and put a towel in her mouth and
a bag over head and dragged her to a van not far behind them. She twisted and turned trying to break

The Recording Of Sound Recorded By Edouard Leon Scott De...
Since its infancy during the nineteenth century, the art of sound recording has been profoundly
affected in countless ways by inventors, scientists, and sound engineers. From the invention of the
phonograph to the computers of today, they have all made contributions to the foundation of sound
recording. Going forward, technologists in today s computer age are becoming more and more
creative. There has even been proof that some researchers have had a hand in altering the course of
history. With that in mind, the following questions need to be addressed:
How was the recording of sound discovered?
What technologies were implemented to improve the science?
How has today s digital age affected sound recording?
Was history really altered?
Is there any debate?
How was the recording of sound discovered?
According to history, the first sound was recorded mechanically by Édouard Léon Scott de Martinville
(de Martinville) in 1857 on a machine called the phonautograph (and). His device would record sound
by using a vibrating membrane that was attached to a pen (stylus) which drew a line in
correspondence to sound waves onto a smoked paper roll attached to a rotating drum (and). The
sounds were generated by vibrating diaphragm and a series of levers that moved the diaphragm from
side to side (and). Even though de Martinville was able to duplicate sound, his machine was not able
to play it back right after it was recorded (and). He made his machine this way because his intensions

pain, increases energy levels, improves skin complexion, and provides allergy relief? Would you be
interested? If yes, then you are in the right place.
Did you know Organic Sulfur is the third most abundant mineral in the human body and is absolutely
essential for health? It is one of the basic building blocks of life and is essential in maintaining our
health.
Organic Sulfur Benefits 23 Surprisingly Impressive Benefits
1. Organic Sulfur works like chelation therapy.
Organic sulfur is one of the most powerful and effective solutions for detoxifying the entire body
because it oxygenates your cells, alkalizes your blood and removes toxins and heavy metals that lead
to cellular malfunction and disease (Clark).
Organic sulfur can easily bind with most toxins to form a sulfate, such as mercury sulfate, lead sulfate,
barium sulfate, arsenic sulfate, aluminum sulfate, strontium sulfate, etc., By bonding with all the toxic
heavy metals, Organic Sulfur can safely chelate and remove these toxic metals from our bodies. Sulfur
does not bind to iodine, which is a good thing (Parcell).
2. It helps with allergies, asthma, and emphysema.
Sulfur helps all the cells in the body to work better and keep the system clean by binding to mucous
membranes and forming a natural block against allergens. Thus leading to a reduction or elimination
of allergies.
It helps alleviate emphysema

Iowa is one of those states that is experiencing the loss of crops then that is a big portion of the corn

Maggie A Girl Of The Streets Escapism
In Stephen Crane s Maggie: A Girl of the Streets, the grim and realistic details of life in the Bowery
during the 1890s is depicted. Maggie, Jimmie, Mary, and Pete all have different means of temporarily
escaping the challenges they face. Alcohol, apathy, entertainment, denial, violence, and blame are
some of the forms of escapism they rely on. Throughout Maggie, each character s methods of
escapism correlate to his or her ability to survive life in the Bowery. Pete is constantly seeking the best
opportunity for himself. He begins to talk to Maggie because she is one of the prettiest girls in the
Bowery, and easy to win over. However, when Nellie returns and begins to show interest in Pete, he
immediately leaves Maggie for the more appealing woman. This prompt dismissal of Maggie shows

Uses of Eggs in Bakery
Eggs have many uses in baking and cooking. They can bind ingredient, they can also leaven such
baked high rises as soufflés and sponge cakes. Their thickening talent is seen in custards and sauces.
Eggs emulsify. They clarify soups and coffee. Eggs retard crystallization. They also enable coating. In
general, eggs add color and flavor.
COAGULATION
When eggs are heated, the protein in the white and yolks starts to coagulate. This means that the liquid
egg becomes firmer. As heating continues the egg eventually becomes solid.
A sauce or custard can be thickened by egg and heating, critical to many recipes.
When eggs are heated, their proteins unwind (called denaturing) and break apart from their tightly
bound bundles, bump up against one another, and adhere to form loose, flat and long strands. These
strands are linked together in a three dimensional mesh. Example: With egg whites because they turn
from clear to opaque, forming a solid gel. Liquid gets trapped in these strands, and this causes the
mixture to thicken.
BINDERS
Whole raw egg adds moisture to a mixture and holds the ingredients together. As the food is heated,
egg protein coagulates, thus binding ingredients together. This is a very useful property for binding in
products such as meat loaves, formed meat and poultry products and for natural thickening of custards
and pie fillings. The temperature of coagulation can be controlled by adjusting pH, adding salts

In the beginning was the big bang, [i] writes John Polkinghorne, a physicist turned theologian. As the
reader follows through the remainder of his cosmic creation story, the reader is intrigued at how
mystical and religious the story sounds. The space boiled, in the rapid expansion of the inflation era,
blowing the universe apart with incredible rapidity in the much less than 10 30 seconds that it lasted. .

He has scaled the mountains of ignorance, he is about to conquer the highest peak: as he pulls himself

[v] Though Jastrow treats the issue as settled and declares that scientists have finally been defeated, it
is too early to reach any judgements on the implications the new cosmology has for both science and
religion. Our image of the origin of the universe is not yet complete and further investigations must be
conducted before the towel is thrown in. Science has still much to offer to help us understand how the
universe came to be. Therefore, let us now attempt to solve the cosmic mystery of creation by
referring to the great scientific minds as our guide. Let us now rewind the story of the big bang and

The idea that the universe had an origin was a result of the discovery of the expansionary universe.[vi]
The theoretical groundwork for the expansionary universe theory was conceived, ironically, by Albert

talent is a symbol of who a person really is. When I was younger, my dad put me through music
school hoping that I would learn to play the piano because he wished he did when he was my age. I
was not a big fan of playing the piano so I struggled most of the time. My fingers were so stiff and my
instructor would request that I moisturize and massage them to make them more flexible. However,
the underlying issue was my lack of interest and not my un cooperating fingers.
For some, Music is a way to express how they feel. People see through a person with the sound of
music. Since I really had no interest in the piano, I decided to take a look at other instruments. My
passion for music was decreasing as I could not find an instrument that my hands found pleasure in. A
friend of mine said I should try the violin. She described it as a classical instrument that soothes the
soul. The first few weeks I learned how to play the violin, I started to get a hang of it but as I played I
would always dance. It was weird to my classmates but dancing with the sounds the violin made me
so happy.
One s interest typically leads one to one s talent eventually, one step at a time. This is evident from a
popular quote Talent can t be taught, but it can be awakened by Wallace Stegner.

America’s Domination of the Film Industry
Looking at the film industry as we now know it, it s hard to imagine that America wasn t always the
film producing machine we see it as now. Yet, when we begin looking at all the technological
advances that took place in film over time and the events which occurred during these periods, it was a
complex journey. In the following essay we are going to discuss why I believe that the wars faced both
foreign and domestic played the biggest factor in the American Film industry s rise to dominance by
the 1950s.
Birth of Film:
As with all things it s probably best to start with the beginning; the birth of film. Eadweard Muybridge
was hired in 1872 to capture images of a horse running to settle a debate as to whether all four feet of
a horse were off the ground at the same time while trotting. Little did he know that by capturing these
images he eventually would spark the invention of the kinetscope by Thomas Edison in the 1880s.
By the late 1890s movies could be projected onto a screen and audiences finally were able to attend
public demonstrations. In 1905 the world s first nickelodeon devoted to film exhibition was opened in
Pittsburgh, PA by Harry Davis. Nickelodeons (named for both the price of admission and the Greek
word for theater ) soon spread across the country, the number of nickelodeons reached around 8000
between 1907 and 1908, and by 1910 it was estimated that as many as 26 million Americans visited
these theaters every week.
World War I:
From about 1910 American

Alice s Wonderland And Through The Looking Glass By Lewis...
Navigating the Unknown
Adventure tales are driven by the presence of strange lands, as characters venture to and through them,
finding fantastical things they have never seen before. In Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and
Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, Alice enters a nonsensical world where both the
location and the rules of the world itself are foreign. The characters Alice meets do not follow the
rules of the real world, so she must navigate both the terrain and the logic of Wonderland to return
home. Robert Louis Stevenson s Treasure Island follows a similar pattern, where Jim travels to a
faraway island which he only knows as a map until he arrives. As Jim travels to the Treasure Island, he
discovers that the people around him are not as honest as they seem to be, throwing him into situations
that follow rules and traditions known only to pirates. In addition to traversing an unfamiliar land,
both protagonists apply their known conventions to their respective interactions, but face problems as
a result that drive the story forward.
When Alice first enters Wonderland, she is confronted with a land that mimics her own, but brimming
with variations that make it difficult for her to understand every aspect of it. Once Alice completes her
fall, she finds a room full of locked doors and a key that only fits a tiny door that leads to the loveliest
garden you ever saw, and she [longs to] ... wander about among those beds of bright flowers and those

Jean Georges Vongerichten Despite his overwhelming name that seems to extrude nobility and power
Chef Jean Georges is a very down to earth and laid back gentleman who collects vintage toasters.
Born in the middle of March in 1957 in Alsace France this future chef was destined to be a great Chef.
With his earliest memories with his family centering around food it is no wonder he became a Chef.
Growing up he was around his family run business on a daily basis. One of the main reasons he fell in

Choosing the Best Tactical Flashlight
h1 Choosing the Best Tactical Flashlight /h1
One of the most important steps in self defense and gun safety is knowing your target s location and
what is beyond and in front of it. Not practicing this vital step can result in severe injury or even the
accidental death of an innocent person. However, it can be extremely difficult to practice this in a dark
area. That is why tactical flashlights have become so popular with gun owners. They re not only useful
for illuminating the area that you re trying to protect, but they can also be so bright that they can
temporarily blind or stun the threat. If you want the best tactical flashlight for your gun, focus on these
important aspects while shopping.
h2 Selecting Type /h2
There are typically two types of tactical flashlights available for nearly any gun. These types are
hunting and military tactical flashlights. Their purposes are quite clear as the hunting flashlight is
more for hunting while the military one is more for combat purposes, but you don t have to focus on
those specific aspects to make your choice. You should weigh the specific features of each flashlight
instead.
h3 Hunting /h3
Tactical flashlights meant for hunting are very straightforward. They re meant to illuminate large areas
and possibly blind or stun certain prey for an easier shot. These flashlights don t have any other real
options besides a changing light color and brightness control, but they re very useful for hunting
purposes. If you re

Substance Dualism Qualia
According to a substance dualist, yes, theoretically, a computer or robot could be capable of
experiencing qualia, such as colors, pains, and emotions. There are five specific criteria used to
describe the properties of the mind: Being non spatial, being rational, having intentionality, having
qualia, and being immediately known. In order to have a compelling argument for the position that
robots and/or computers could experience qualia, a substance dualist would have to show that said
computer or robot possesses one or more of these properties. To accomplish this, a substance dualist
could argue something like: Qualia are subjective, mental states. Mental states can only belong to the
mind. The mind is a thinking thing. Therefore, a thinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of not being mind readers, humans have learned, through time, the importance on other
subtle, verbal/non verbal communication/behaviorisms as clues to what another individual may or
may not be experiencing. For example, if another being behaves in a certain way, such as saying I am
hungry, humans have learned that it is more than reasonable to assume he or she is in fact hungry. In
all actuality, it is unreasonable to assume that this individual is not hungry and is lying. Furthermore,
if a robot or computer behaved so similarly to a human, to the point that it succeeded in passing the
Turing Test, then what right does a human have in claiming to know what is or is not going on in this
computer s/robot s mind? For these reasons, I think that it if a robot or computer could exhibit the
required behavior to imply that it has a mind, then humans are in no position to tell state whether that
robot or computer does or does not have a mind. Humans cannot even reach an agreement on what the
mind actually is, therefore, human s are not in the position to claim whether or not other beings can
have a mind. If another being behaves as if it has a mind, then that is the best possible evidence we
can ever have towards proving

Recollection Of Meno, Anytus And The Slave Boy
Meno:
My two most memorable scenes from this dialogue are Socrates demonstration of recollection with
the slave boy and the contrast between Meno, Anytus and the Slave boy. Socrates demonstrates what
he refers to as recollection by asking Meno s slave leading questions until he is able to demonstrate to
the boy that the length of the side of a square whose area has been doubled in size is not double of the
previous length as the boy previously thought. This method, called the Socratic method, has been
employed by different teachers of mine in the past while instructing me. It was interesting for me to
find out about its origin. While reading the dialogue, it became clear that Meno did not have a
teachable spirit (or he was unwilling to learn). The contrast if his, Anytus and the slave boy s attitudes
showed a clear difference between someone who is willing to be instructed and someone who is not.
Anytus seemed to be the most unwilling of the two because he refused to investigate before jumping
to conclusions (as he did during the discussion about the Sophists).
Phaedrus:
My two most memorable scenes from this dialogue are Socrates idea of the soul and his story of
Theuth and Thamus. Socrates described the soul as the innate power of a winged team of horses and a
charioteer . In a man s soul, one of the horses is of good stock and the other is not. The better the stock
of the man s horses, the higher his soul can fly, and the better his vision of things as they really

Barn Burning Sarty Character Traits
In 1939, William Faulkner, introduced the short story Barn Burning. Barn Burning is about a ten year
old boy, Colonel Sartoris Snopes, and his inner conflict with his conscience to do the virtuous thing.
Colonel Sartoris, or Sarty, continuously deals with the repercussions of, his father, Abner Snopes s
delinquent actions. Throughout the story, Faulkner portrays Sarty as a dynamic character with multiple
characteristics as he conflicts with himself and his father. Because of Sarty s loyalty and
submissiveness to his family he feels obligated to conceal his father s crimes; however, Sarty s
innocent qualities alters his mindset to oppose his family.
In the beginning of the story, Faulkner describes Sarty as very loyal to his family. Sarty s loyalty leads
him to defend his father on numerous occasions. Abner drilled into Sarty s head that family loyalty is
more important than anything regardless if it is right or wrong. Enemy! Enemy! (Faulkner 10). This
quote describes Sarty s loyalty as he is in court believing anyone who is his father s enemy is his.
Sarty s loyalty for his family comes from a lifelong experience of dealing with an abuse parent who
uses scare tactics to influence his personality. Loyalty is a major theme throughout the short story;
although, Sarty s loyalty changes as he matures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Discipus Reflection Paper
Jesus is sending his disciples, sheep, to be among the men who are persecutors, wolves. He is also
warning them that they will experience troubles on the way from the governments, courts and also
their friends and families. However, he is saying that going into trial is not bad because in these
moments they have their advantage to spread His word so they can see the glory. Jesus says not to
worry when they are arrested because God will help them with what to say. Throughout the New
Testament Jesus is compared to a shepherd leading and protecting his flock, but this scripture Jesus is
not there among the sheep protecting them. The disciples have been sharing the good news about
Jesus and once he is sacrificed, resurrected into heaven, he will not be there physically for the
disciples to have nearby and protect them. They will be the sheep among the wolves needing to protect
for themselves. Whenever the government has a conflict with God s word, Jesus is the one who steps
in to share a parable and let the pharisees know what God s law is, but once he goes to Heaven, he will
not be around to speak on behalf of God. The disciples will be on there own and Jesus is trying to
prepare them for this.
Jesus knows the disciples will be weak and defenseless without him there to step in and help, but
through this scripture, he continues to prepare his disciples for what they need to do when spreading
the word and others are in disbelief. When people can physically see

The Death Of Socrates And Jesus
Socrates and Jesus were two teachers whose guidance people still follow today. They were both
sentenced to death for their teachings even though there were witnesses to their innocence. Socrates
was accused of corrupting the youth and practicing atheism by three men, Lytus, Anytus, and Meletus.
Plato, Socrates student, recorded Socrates defense speech. Socrates succeeded in getting some of the
jury to see the truth, but in the end, he was sentenced to the death penalty. The Gospel of Luke is a
section in the New Testament that reveals the Lord Jesus Christ and all he taught until he was killed.
Jesus teachings and preaching are brought out as he healed the wounded and sick, and brought hope to
the desperate. Jesus was also sentenced to death, but death did not keep him from teaching and after
three days he resurrected and continued to teach. These men both died for truth and accepted their
punishments. Socrates and Jesus have some similarities in their teachings and experiences, but Jesus
focused more on shaping others and taught the Christian life , while Socrates shaped his students by
teaching them how to take a different path than what the majority follows.
Jesus and Socrates both focused on teaching what was true to their people. Socrates spoke about truth
as being a person who knows they are not wise and do not know all. Socrates went around revealing
the truth, and the truth was just not what the men of Athens wanted to hear. He states his teachings

Animal Rights Against Animals And The Land Ethic
Drawing on animal rights claims, the questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this
essay seeks to argue that zoos; a place in which wild animal s are held in captivity, are inherently
unethical, because they violate the ethical and moral standard in which animals have a claim to. Citing
experts in the animal ethics field, this essay will be supported by firstly establishing that animals do in
fact have animal rights and similarly, that they have a claim to a moral status relative to that of
humans. Following this, this essay will show that the animal rights, which zoo animals are privy to,
allows us to set an ethical standard on which humans have a duty to treat animals, especially when
held in captivity. Analyzing this ethical standard with which me must treat zoo animals, we can
deduce that zoos are in fact not ethical in nature and in practice.
The starting point of this essay is to establish and lay out an animal rights claim. The point here is not
to solely list which specific rights animals have, as that goes beyond the scope of this essay, but to
discuss why animals do in fact have a claim to rights, and what this means for humans. The need to
understand the intrinsic, or inherent value of animals allows us to see the base from which their claim
to rights is derived. Inherent value refers to the idea that animals are valuable in themselves, not in
what they provide us. Tom Regan, an animal ethicist, sets out the moral grounding from which we can

After all, there was no access to a convenience or discount store stocking tampons, pads, and

know if you ve given much thought to what was used in lieu of toilet paper on the Oregon Trail or in
the Amazon or even back in Bible times. Women, we know, got to sit on clean straw in a red tent
during their menstrual periods. But no word has reached us on exactly how, or even if, they cleansed
their private parts after a daily constitutional. No, I haven t spent a lot of time thinking about the toilet

thought that soft toilet paper and convenient tampons ranked right up there with important advances of
the twentieth century. I mean, way up there with air travel and microwave ovens. So it really boggled
my mind when I found that there were people who preferred to use time honored and ancient forms of
personal hygiene products. Mama cloths are sold at many alternative boutiques to take the place of
pads, napkins, tampons, or pantyliners for a woman s menstrual cycle. Just as the name suggests, these
mama cloths are strips of cotton to be inserted in a woman s panties during her menstrual cycle. And
just in case, you ve thought ahead with me on this: yes, they are intended to be laundered and reused

is a bad thing to be inserting into a woman s body. Others claim that tampons and pads are full of
asbestos designed not only to create more bleeding and therefore more demand for the

Established in history for his tremendous efforts to improve the condition of blacks in the United

took it upon his own conscience to deal with the poverty and discrimination faced by black americans

Washington took advantage of the situation, offering a humble plea to the white race, so that his black
brothers could be employed. Washington then continued to describe the fidelity that the Negro would
offer, being a reliable source of work. Washington s views were not without fault however, as they
were assailed by W.E.B. Du Bois for subjugating the black race to menial labor and social inferiority.
In Du Bois essay Of Mr. Booker T. Washington and Others in his collection The Souls of Black Folk,
Du Bois accuses Washington of allowing the South to solidify the supremacy of the white race over
the black. Washington s programme practically accepts the alleged inferiority of the Negro races.
Though partly true, Washington s incentive was not to gain equal economic footing, but a footing at
all. Due to the numerous labor strikes following the Panic of 1893, unemployment went through the
roof, leaving many white southerners without an efficient labor force. Washington chose to fill the gap
with a band of hard working blacks, so that they may prove their aptitude to their white employers.
Washington insisted instead that blacks could surmount trade unions by

  • 4. Doctor Papbst Journal Day 8 was a really slow day in my opinion, although it was super fun. Day 8 was Dr. Williams birthday and he loves to celebrate his birthdays as all the coworkers would say. The first half of the day we had 3 patients and all of them were hygiene so they just got their teeth cleaned and etc. On Dr. Pabst side of the office, in my opinion it was pretty busy. The first patient came in to get fitted for Invisalign. The dental assistant took impressions on him and Dr. Pabst came in to take so nice pictures for his Invisalign profile. The second patient came in because he was experiencing severe pain on tooth # 2. I ended up taking a radiograph on him and found a huge abscess. We had to take impressions on her so that she could wear retainers for her teeth to remain straight and in place. After doing the impressions 5 times, they finally tuned out. She literally wears a XL impression tray and even that little trying to fit all of her teeth in. after the patient was finally done and gone, the next patient came in to get a permanent crown cemented on once again because she swallowed her first one and didn t realize it until she went to go eat again. When Dr. Pabst went to go take all the temporary cement out she basically jumped out of the chair in pain. She had a root canal done on the tooth in front of the crowned tooth because she would not listen to Dr. Pabst when he said that it was time to have to filling done. When trying to put the crown in her mouth she jumped again and Dr. Pabst was like you literally just got a root canal done, this tooth should not be bothering you at all because the root is gone. She gave a little attitude and said Well it does and he said well it shouldn t. • 5. Is The NFL Protest Of Kneeling In The Star Spangled Banner... Though the NFL protest of kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner appears to be disrespectful at first glance, if one really takes the time to investigate the issue they will see it is a justifiable way to express their first amendment right. Kneeling is something people do when they pray to show great respect toward their heavenly father. However, when one person kneels during the National Anthem many people go and claim their actions are disrespectful without any knowledge of why they kneeled. Many believe that the kneeling is to show disrespect toward the country. Well, it s not. The protest is really just about those denying the most basic freedoms. According to Julius Peppers, this wasn t about disrespecting the military, disrespecting the flag, police, first responders, none of that, and those are the reasons people are thinking for why the players are protesting. When really according to SB Nation NFL, The players are simply protesting systemic oppression against people of color, police brutality, and the criminal justice system. The national anthem is just the vehicle for the protest. Meaning people of color just want equal rights and want to be treated like humans instead of animals. Many may believe that people of color have all equal rights, yet those people that believe that are white and may not be educated on what is happening around them. If people educate themselves on to why this protest is happening they will see that even veterans are agreeing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Media Bias Essay Media Bias Is the Media Bias? Many people including myself believe that it is. On the other hand, there are people who believe that media is not biased and just states facts. These people (i.e. my dad), who believe that media is not biased also believe that everything on TV is true, in my experience. We see bias in media (print or broadcast) many times. It might be the subtlest of things that is unnoticeable to more blatant attempts. The fact is bias is everywhere and it is very difficult to separate the two. The reasons why it is difficult are not clearly understood by my self but I can point toward the fact that everyone is the world has opinions and in some way or form it will be presented in the way they talk or write. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, very quickly, the articles comes to candidate bashing by each candidate rather then discussing the issues the articles focuses on what each other says about the other. One thing that really stood out, in five of the seven articles, are discussions of George Bush s activities were discussed prior to discussion of Al Gore. At first, I thought that maybe it was a fluke and writer was following an alphabetical order procedure to present the article. But, when I read the two articles that discussed Al Gore s activities first it struck me that this is a very important aspect of any writing. This struck me as important because I believe that the position that the writer usually supports is the one that is discussed first and the contrast it with another view. By discussing George Bush first the ideas of Bush are imbedded in the mind and then when discussion of Al Gore is presented it is in the mind to compare it with the previous discussion. This might not necessarily be true but I do feel strongly about this claim. The reason why is, when someone wants to present a unbiased presentation they will compare and contrast the positions of both candidates throughout the whole article and not separate it into two sections. Next, words and phrases chosen to describe the candidates activities imply bias towards Al Gore. In almost every article I found some words or phrases that gave the impression ... There are good and bad effects in the ways that computers have changed the way American s socialize. • 9. Personal Reflection Of My Humor Style And Mental Health As humans, laughing and joking is something that comes natural. This is something that we have been doing even before we knew how to walk or talk. As we start to grow up, we all develop personality traits and our humor styles follow. Before taking this course, I have never consider identifying what my humor styles are until now. I took the Humor Style Questionnaire (Martin et al. 2003) and calculated that my top humor style is self enhancing and closely following is affiliative. Throughout this paper I am going to reflect on my top humor styles with personal examples, and how it relates to my mental health, with several methods I can use to make myself healthier and happier. I will also be considering the other two styles and how then do not relate to my humor style and mental health. My top humor style is self enhancing. According to the Humor Styles Questionnaire (Martin et al. 2003) I am 5.2 points away from the women s average, that is a 36.8 for this style. According to an article that I found, Individual differences in uses of humor and their relation to psychological well being: Development of the Humor Styles Questionnaire, people with self enhancing humor style have a humorous outlook on life and tend to be amused by its incongruities. Even when a person that has this style is faced with stress and adversities, they still maintain a humorous outlook (Kuiper, Martin, Olinger, 1993). When I first realized that this is my top humor style I was a bit surprised, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gracie, a 16 year old girl with long light brown hair with natural blonde highlights and bright blue eyes, now dull, was walking home from a friend s party. • 11. The Recording Of Sound Recorded By Edouard Leon Scott De... Since its infancy during the nineteenth century, the art of sound recording has been profoundly affected in countless ways by inventors, scientists, and sound engineers. From the invention of the phonograph to the computers of today, they have all made contributions to the foundation of sound recording. Going forward, technologists in today s computer age are becoming more and more creative. There has even been proof that some researchers have had a hand in altering the course of history. With that in mind, the following questions need to be addressed: How was the recording of sound discovered? What technologies were implemented to improve the science? How has today s digital age affected sound recording? Was history really altered? Is there any debate? How was the recording of sound discovered? According to history, the first sound was recorded mechanically by Édouard Léon Scott de Martinville (de Martinville) in 1857 on a machine called the phonautograph (and). His device would record sound by using a vibrating membrane that was attached to a pen (stylus) which drew a line in correspondence to sound waves onto a smoked paper roll attached to a rotating drum (and). The sounds were generated by vibrating diaphragm and a series of levers that moved the diaphragm from side to side (and). Even though de Martinville was able to duplicate sound, his machine was not able to play it back right after it was recorded (and). He made his machine this way because his intensions ... They can bind ingredient, they can also leaven such baked high rises as soufflés and sponge cakes. Their thickening talent is seen in custards and sauces. Eggs emulsify. They clarify soups and coffee. Eggs retard crystallization. They also enable coating. In general, eggs add color and flavor. COAGULATION When eggs are heated, the protein in the white and yolks starts to coagulate. This means that the liquid egg becomes firmer. As heating continues the egg eventually becomes solid. A sauce or custard can be thickened by egg and heating, critical to many recipes. When eggs are heated, their proteins unwind (called denaturing) and break apart from their tightly bound bundles, bump up against one another, and adhere to form loose, flat and long strands. These strands are linked together in a three dimensional mesh. Example: With egg whites because they turn from clear to opaque, forming a solid gel. Liquid gets trapped in these strands, and this causes the mixture to thicken. BINDERS Whole raw egg adds moisture to a mixture and holds the ingredients together. As the food is heated, egg protein coagulates, thus binding ingredients together. This is a very useful property for binding in

I was born with a talent, although, yet to be discovered. A talent is a symbol of who a person really is. When I was younger, my dad put me through music school hoping that I would learn to play the piano because he wished he did when he was my age. I was not a big fan of playing the piano so I struggled most of the time. My fingers were so stiff and my instructor would request that I moisturize and massage them to make them more flexible. However, the underlying issue was my lack of interest and not my un cooperating fingers. For some, Music is a way to express how they feel. People see through a person with the sound of music. Since I really had no interest in the piano, I decided to take a look at other instruments. My passion for music was decreasing as I could not find an instrument that my hands found pleasure in. A friend of mine said I should try the violin. She described it as a classical instrument that soothes the soul. The first few weeks I learned how to play the violin, I started to get a hang of it but as I played I would always dance. Yet, when we begin looking at all the technological advances that took place in film over time and the events which occurred during these periods, it was a complex journey. In the following essay we are going to discuss why I believe that the wars faced both foreign and domestic played the biggest factor in the American Film industry s rise to dominance by the 1950s. Birth of Film: As with all things it s probably best to start with the beginning; the birth of film. Eadweard Muybridge was hired in 1872 to capture images of a horse running to settle a debate as to whether all four feet of a horse were off the ground at the same time while trotting. Little did he know that by capturing these images he eventually would spark the invention of the kinetscope by Thomas Edison in the 1880s. By the late 1890s movies could be projected onto a screen and audiences finally were able to attend public demonstrations. In 1905 the world s first nickelodeon devoted to film exhibition was opened in Pittsburgh, PA by Harry Davis. Nickelodeons (named for both the price of admission and the Greek word for theater ) soon spread across the country, the number of nickelodeons reached around 8000 between 1907 and 1908, and by 1910 it was estimated that as many as 26 million Americans visited these theaters every week. Not practicing this vital step can result in severe injury or even the accidental death of an innocent person. However, it can be extremely difficult to practice this in a dark area. That is why tactical flashlights have become so popular with gun owners. They re not only useful for illuminating the area that you re trying to protect, but they can also be so bright that they can temporarily blind or stun the threat. If you want the best tactical flashlight for your gun, focus on these important aspects while shopping. h2 Selecting Type /h2 There are typically two types of tactical flashlights available for nearly any gun. There are five specific criteria used to describe the properties of the mind: Being non spatial, being rational, having intentionality, having qualia, and being immediately known. In order to have a compelling argument for the position that robots and/or computers could experience qualia, a substance dualist would have to show that said computer or robot possesses one or more of these properties. In all actuality, it is unreasonable to assume that this individual is not hungry and is lying. Furthermore, if a robot or computer behaved so similarly to a human, to the point that it succeeded in passing the Turing Test, then what right does a human have in claiming to know what is or is not going on in this computer s/robot s mind? For these reasons, I think that it if a robot or computer could exhibit the required behavior to imply that it has a mind, then humans are in no position to tell state whether that robot or computer does or does not have a mind. Recollection Of Meno, Anytus And The Slave Boy Meno: My two most memorable scenes from this dialogue are Socrates demonstration of recollection with the slave boy and the contrast between Meno, Anytus and the Slave boy. Socrates demonstrates what he refers to as recollection by asking Meno s slave leading questions until he is able to demonstrate to the boy that the length of the side of a square whose area has been doubled in size is not double of the previous length as the boy previously thought. This method, called the Socratic method, has been employed by different teachers of mine in the past while instructing me. It was interesting for me to find out about its origin. While reading the dialogue, it became clear that Meno did not have a teachable spirit (or he was unwilling to learn). The contrast if his, Anytus and the slave boy s attitudes showed a clear difference between someone who is willing to be instructed and someone who is not. Anytus seemed to be the most unwilling of the two because he refused to investigate before jumping to conclusions (as he did during the discussion about the Sophists). • 33. Discipus Reflection Paper Jesus is sending his disciples, sheep, to be among the men who are persecutors, wolves. He is also warning them that they will experience troubles on the way from the governments, courts and also their friends and families. However, he is saying that going into trial is not bad because in these moments they have their advantage to spread His word so they can see the glory. Jesus says not to worry when they are arrested because God will help them with what to say. Throughout the New Testament Jesus is compared to a shepherd leading and protecting his flock, but this scripture Jesus is not there among the sheep protecting them. The disciples have been sharing the good news about Jesus and once he is sacrificed, resurrected into heaven, he will not be there physically for the disciples to have nearby and protect them. They will be the sheep among the wolves needing to protect for themselves. Whenever the government has a conflict with God s word, Jesus is the one who steps in to share a parable and let the pharisees know what God s law is, but once he goes to Heaven, he will not be around to speak on behalf of God. The disciples will be on there own and Jesus is trying to prepare them for this. Jesus knows the disciples will be weak and defenseless without him there to step in and help, but through this scripture, he continues to prepare his disciples for what they need to do when spreading the word and others are in disbelief. When people can physically see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Death Of Socrates And Jesus Socrates and Jesus were two teachers whose guidance people still follow today. They were both sentenced to death for their teachings even though there were witnesses to their innocence. Socrates was accused of corrupting the youth and practicing atheism by three men, Lytus, Anytus, and Meletus. Plato, Socrates student, recorded Socrates defense speech. Socrates succeeded in getting some of the jury to see the truth, but in the end, he was sentenced to the death penalty. The Gospel of Luke is a section in the New Testament that reveals the Lord Jesus Christ and all he taught until he was killed. Jesus teachings and preaching are brought out as he healed the wounded and sick, and brought hope to the desperate. Jesus was also sentenced to death, but death did not keep him from teaching and after three days he resurrected and continued to teach. These men both died for truth and accepted their punishments. Socrates and Jesus have some similarities in their teachings and experiences, but Jesus focused more on shaping others and taught the Christian life , while Socrates shaped his students by teaching them how to take a different path than what the majority follows. Jesus and Socrates both focused on teaching what was true to their people. Socrates spoke about truth as being a person who knows they are not wise and do not know all. Socrates went around revealing the truth, and the truth was just not what the men of Athens wanted to hear. He states his teachings during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Animal Rights Against Animals And The Land Ethic Drawing on animal rights claims, the questionable moral status of animals and the land ethic, this essay seeks to argue that zoos; a place in which wild animal s are held in captivity, are inherently unethical, because they violate the ethical and moral standard in which animals have a claim to. Citing experts in the animal ethics field, this essay will be supported by firstly establishing that animals do in fact have animal rights and similarly, that they have a claim to a moral status relative to that of humans. Following this, this essay will show that the animal rights, which zoo animals are privy to, allows us to set an ethical standard on which humans have a duty to treat animals, especially when held in captivity. Analyzing this ethical standard with which me must treat zoo animals, we can deduce that zoos are in fact not ethical in nature and in practice. The starting point of this essay is to establish and lay out an animal rights claim. The point here is not to solely list which specific rights animals have, as that goes beyond the scope of this essay, but to discuss why animals do in fact have a claim to rights, and what this means for humans. The need to understand the intrinsic, or inherent value of animals allows us to see the base from which their claim to rights is derived. Inherent value refers to the idea that animals are valuable in themselves, not in what they provide us. Tom Regan, an animal ethicist, sets out the moral grounding from which we can ... After all, there was no access to a convenience or discount store stocking tampons, pads, and pantyliners in a dizzying array. Or did you consider women on the Oregon Trail 125 years ago? There wasn t a convenient exit to purchase feminine hygiene products then either. For that matter, I don t know if you ve given much thought to what was used in lieu of toilet paper on the Oregon Trail or in the Amazon or even back in Bible times. Women, we know, got to sit on clean straw in a red tent during their menstrual periods. But no word has reached us on exactly how, or even if, they cleansed their private parts after a daily constitutional. No, I haven t spent a lot of time thinking about the toilet and hygienic habits of our ancestors either. But if I stopped to give it some thought, I would have thought that soft toilet paper and convenient tampons ranked right up there with important advances of the twentieth century. I mean, way up there with air travel and microwave ovens. So it really boggled my mind when I found that there were people who preferred to use time honored and ancient forms of personal hygiene products. Mama cloths are sold at many alternative boutiques to take the place of pads, napkins, tampons, or pantyliners for a woman s menstrual cycle. Just as the name suggests, these mama cloths are strips of cotton to be inserted in a woman s panties during her menstrual cycle. And just in case, you ve thought ahead with me on this: yes, they are intended to be laundered and reused next month. Apparently, the reasoning behind using cotton cloths instead of disposable paper products is mixed. Some advocates claim that pads and tampons are made from bleached materials and bleach is a bad thing to be inserting into a woman s body. Others claim that tampons and pads are full of asbestos designed not only to create more bleeding and therefore more demand for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Booker T. Washington Established in history for his tremendous efforts to improve the condition of blacks in the United States, Booker T. Washington well deserves admission into the Progressive Hall of Fame. Washington took it upon his own conscience to deal with the poverty and discrimination faced by black americans during the Jim Crow era. He provided education and economic opportunity to disadvantaged black men at institutes, much like the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Though Washington focused moreso on economic equality than social equality, he provided a stepping stone for the future, which would surmount to the furthering of civil rights for blacks. In a time of desperation for the common black man, Washington provided a beacon of hope, providing a community to those lost in the waves of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Washington took advantage of the situation, offering a humble plea to the white race, so that his black brothers could be employed. Washington then continued to describe the fidelity that the Negro would offer, being a reliable source of work. Washington s views were not without fault however, as they were assailed by W.E.B. Du Bois for subjugating the black race to menial labor and social inferiority. In Du Bois essay Of Mr. Booker T. Washington and Others in his collection The Souls of Black Folk, Du Bois accuses Washington of allowing the South to solidify the supremacy of the white race over the black. Washington s programme practically accepts the alleged inferiority of the Negro races. Though partly true, Washington s incentive was not to gain equal economic footing, but a footing at all. Due to the numerous labor strikes following the Panic of 1893, unemployment went through the roof, leaving many white southerners without an efficient labor force. Washington chose to fill the gap with a band of hard working blacks, so that they may prove their aptitude to their white employers. Washington insisted instead that blacks could surmount trade unions by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
