Managing small spacecraft projects poses unique challenges that require the same level of rigor as larger projects. While perceived as easier due to smaller teams and budgets, small projects have compressed schedules, inexperienced personnel, and unclear guidelines that increase risks. Key recommendations include developing detailed schedules, using Earned Value Management for weekly progress insights, documenting all risk postures and decisions clearly, and frequent communication and education of stakeholders to set appropriate expectations.
