Stage 1 represents the most basic learning program, one which does
not include a telephone tutor or internet support. Although this program
can be effective, it lacks the real life personal communication that
language learners require, and in most cases are prepared to pay a bit
more for.

Stage 2: Software with Telephone Tutor




Stage 2 is a marked improvement over Stage 1 as it provides a team of
live instructors, to provide learners with the tools to use the language for
genuine communication. Tutors create speaking opportunities, give
guidance, and assess the learners’ progress.
*Yet, Stage 2 still does not offer any kind of internet support framework.

Stage 3: Software with Tutor and Internet Support




 Stage 3 combines the advantages of having a Tutor with the additional
 support of internet resources. These resources may include online
 campuses, translation assistance, online libraries, correction of
 assignments by instructors, and much more.
 This format has been successfully adopted by several learning program
 providers worldwide, some of whom we currently work with.

Stage 4: Special Courses
 Stage 4 can be considered an additional phase of expansion. At this
 point your organisation is able to move beyond general course material
 to provide something special and tailor made…
 Some examples could be:
 •Complete virtual campus with a full team of support staff available
 globally using VOIP and online classes.
 •Virtual courses involving a totally virtual learning environment and
 instructors who are Avatars interacting with Avatar students in a new
 Internet world.
 •Language excursions that drop learners into an immersive
 environment, be it for a weekend or just lunch.
 •Courses carried out completely by telephone or online.

Advantages of Online studies
As you probably know, web-based learning has distinct advantages:
•Access is available anytime, anywhere, around the globe. Students have
access to a potentially huge library of training material and information.

•Per-student equipment costs are affordable. Almost any computer today
equipped with Adsl and soundcard can provide global Skype connection.

•Student tracking is made easy. Because students complete their training
while they are connected to the network.

•Possible "learning object" architecture supports on demand,
personalized learning. With CD-ROM training, students have access only to
the information that can be held by one CD-ROM.

The Disadvantage
  “The real disadvantage to web-based learning when compared to live
  instruction, and mind you, it will be overcome in the next five to ten
  years as high bandwidth network connections become as common as
  telephones, the real disadvantage is the lack of human contact,
  which greatly impacts learning, especially a second language.
  Web-based learning is helpful, and an improvement over CD-ROM
  learning, though it still doesn't have the impact of a live instructor. With
  higher speed connections and improved conferencing software, one day
  students around the world will be able to communicate in real time with
  each other through full-screen video. “

Web-based learning is helpful, and an improvement over CD-ROM learning, though it still doesn't have the impact of a live instructor.
