He announced to his fellow passengers that he would take anyone else who wanted to go, but he didn’t get any takers. Sitting on the airplane was easy, there was little risk involved. Getting off that plane, sharing a ride with a stranger (even a well dress business man) involves thinking about things differently.

(3 points) A Facebook account that is open to the public and you’re proud of the photos you post and the conversations you have and hope employers find it (2 points) A Twitter account that is also open and public where you carry on conversations where you seem interesting and intelligent (1 point)
- #12 Writing online is a way to absolutely stand out among your peers. It’s the extra effort most employers are looking for. Remain standing if you write at least once a month somewhere. Did you know you can write on LinkedIn? Become a member of your local professional group, like the Triangle AMA or PRSA. 70% of jobs are filled by people who somehow short-circuited the hiring system. Friend of a friend introduces you or your old co-worker works there now. Look at the people next to you – say hello.

Read and comment on the stuff the share on LinkedIn or on their blog. Join a Meetup, or better yet, create an awesome new one.
