INTRODUCTION
 Located in Melaka + declared as a World UNESCO Heritage Site
combination of three terrace lots that were acquired by the Chan
family in year 1861.
 There are four generations lived in the house in March 1985.
 Peranakan Baba Nyonya = Chinese traders intermarried with local
women (Indonesia, Malays, and Siamese) and adopted South East
Asian social practices and the local language.
 Managed by the family generations
 Revive Malaysia’s Peranakan identity and heritage to the public by
preserving the house for visitors and preserve the house becoming
a museum by forth son of Chan Seng Kee
 Three section : Reception Hall (Thia Besar), Kitchen (Dapur) and
Ancestral Hall (Thia Abu).

 BUILDING HEIGHTS –
• Double story building height nearby the coastal area of the Malacca River. The first
floor consists of reception hall, ancestral hall, dark hall, kitchen, and toilet.
• The second floor consist the bedrooms.
 BUILDING SETBACKS-
• Setback area 300 metres from the Malacca riverbank to protect the building from
erosion damages and allows adequate space for public access
 OFFSTREET PARKING-
• Site coverage is limited and cannot develop bigger.

SYNTHESIS
 Existence of this museum has contributed in positive aspects
Preservation the special design of museum furniture
Instead of making a profit, the developers must not ignoring the
negative impact while build infrastructure or facilities around Museum.
= We believe from the overall analysis that tourism program must
proceed on this places because of many the positive impact and
controlled negative impact surrounding the places.

Specific road to the pedestrian, motorcycle and bicycle only to
reduce the impact of the noise
Provide a parking lot that have a strategic distance between the
museum and the parking to make sure that the polluted air from the
vehicles can be reduce at the museum area.
Charge a compatible price for the rent or the purchasing of the
land of the building
Strict the enforcement for not parking in front of the museum and
other attraction that make the road become narrow and difficult to
be used by other people.
Adding up more facilities such as chair or bench to tourist take a
rest.
SOCIAL IMPACT
Limit the number of group bring by one guide to increase the enjoyment of the
tour.
Put a list of rules and regulations such as take care about the manners in the main
hall & remind the tourists about their safety and their belongings before they start
their tour.
Make a compulsory for the staffs to wearing a baba & nyonya clothes such as baju
kebaya for all the staff & invite the generations of the baba & nyonya descendant to
guide a tour on the museum.
ECONOMY IMPACT
Provide equipment like headphone that contain the information the voice about the
baba & nyonya museum in various languages to be rent by the tourists.
Minimize the import item use in the building & use the local item and the expert
that they know in the country to cut the cost of the maintenance and infrastructure.
