Life is a running race now a day. We need quick but efficient relief. Modern medicine or Allopathic medicine is saving numerous lives since the time of World War II. Especially in emergencies like viral attacks, epidemic and surgical cases the allopathic system has been so impressive and approved by all over the world. Presently, use of computers is making it more accurate. But, this rapid relief method of medicine or you can say "Short-Cut" method of relief is also producing several adverse effects which cause severe problems like multi organ failure etc. We're taking medicine to get rid of a side effect created by another and that also shows another side effect and thus we're becoming medicine prone. So I'm trying to look behind, in the pages of Vedas, our traditional medicinal system – Ayurveda; Which not only cures the disease but also teaches us how to stay healthy. They've very less side effects as they are naturally derived. But, here also one question arises. Can the so called backdated ayurveda satisfy our need for being healthy in this modern era? So, here I'm presenting the basic comparison between Ayurveda and Allopathy. Now you have to look, think and decide which you should choose for your betterment.

2. INTRODUCTION :
In todays’ fast-paced life we need quick & efficient relief.
Modern medicinal system or allopathic system is serving this. But
every good thing comes with a price. Maybe several side effects
presented by the allopathic system is the heavy price that we are
paying today. So we’ll look towards our traditional medicinal system,
Ayurveda, to find out if there’s any solution . Now We’ll compare
both the systems of medicine & decide together which medicinal
system is preferable in near future for our treatment.

3. AYURVEDA :
 What is Ayurveda ?
•AYUS = HEALTH / LIFE
•VEDA = KNOWLEDGE / SCIENCE
So, Ayurveda or Science of life is a holistic approach to
healthcare that helps people to lead a healthy & balanced life.
~Dhanvantari (appears in the Puranas as the god of Ayurveda)
 ORIGINATION :
It has an attachment with Atharva Veda. It’s origination is to be believed as
stated below (5000BC) –
Bramha > Daksha Prajapati > Ashvin twins > Lord Indra > Sage
Bhardwaja > Atreya > Agnivesa >>> Charaka muni (200 AD)

4.  Six Conceptual Elements of Ayurveda :
1. Pancha Mahabhuta (The five basic elements)
2. Doshas (Biological elements)
3. Dhatus (Basic tissues)
4. Malas (Waste products)
5. Agni (Biological fire)
6. Gunas (Physical attribute of drugs/integral components of the
mind)
The HEALTH therefore according to Ayurveda can be defined as a state
of sustained equilibrium of the functions of Doshas, Dhatus, Mala and
Agni accompanied by a sensation of well being or tranquility of the
body and sense organs, mind and soul.

• Diagnosis (If I get sick what is the cause?)

7. ALLOPATHY :
 What is Allopathy ?
ALLOS = OPPOSITE
PATHOS = SUFFERING
It concludes that -
is the system of medicine, commonly called the convention
al medicine system, which makes use of drugs that have an opposite
effect to that of the symptoms. It works to suppress the symptoms of a
disease in the minimum possible time span.
 History :
The Term ‘Allopathy’ was coined by Hahnemann(1842).
It was practiced in both Europe & North America (1876).
mid 1500 is taken as the first official entry of allopathy in India.

8.  Concepts :
• Allopathic medicines are not only based on theory, but also they are
practically accepted and practiced everywhere.
• Allopathic medicines are also known as ORTHODOX/CONVENTIONAL m
edicine.
• It is based on REDUCTIONIST approach where the individual and the a
ffected organ/body part is viewed in isolation, forgetting that it is a part of
whole.
• On many occasions, it focuses on symptomatic relief rather than solving
root cause.
