The document summarizes the results of a questionnaire given to the intended audience for a short film. It found that the majority of respondents were female aged 16-18 and in education. Most preferred watching romance genres for 6-7 minutes online. The filmmakers decided to target this demographic with a fictional romance film featuring a strong female lead that will be distributed online and have a positive ending.
As part of our audience research for our AS-media blogs, we had to complete a questionnaire aimed at our assumed target audience. These there the results drawn from this questionnaire with a little description.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Acetabularia Information For Class 9 .docxvaibhavrinwa19
Acetabularia acetabulum is a single-celled green alga that in its vegetative state is morphologically differentiated into a basal rhizoid and an axially elongated stalk, which bears whorls of branching hairs. The single diploid nucleus resides in the rhizoid.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2. 1. What is your gender?
Gender
Female
Male
The vast amount of participants were female,
therefore we will aim our short film towards a
female audience, we will consider this during
our narrative, script and the production process
. Similar films we gained inspiration from with a
large female audience and same plot concept
is the award winning ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ ,
this will allow us to convey our production
appropriately and represent our female
protagonist by referring to ‘The Fault In Our
Stars’ when producing our short film in order
for it to be successful.
3. 2. How old are you?
Age
13 -15
16 -18
19 - 21
Age is a key part of any film
production, it allows you to
appropriately target your audience due
to the nature of your film. We found
from the questionnaire that the
majority of our audience is 16 – 18,
however we will still keep it
appropriate for a younger audience as
its closely followed by the ages of 13 –
15. Our film will have a 12 certificate
meaning its appropriate for our
younger audience.
4. 3. Are you in education?
Yes
No
We incorporated this question within the
questionnaire so we could identify where we
could publish our film, as the majority of those
who answered ‘yes’ it would be beneficial for
both us and our audience to public our short
film online therefore it is within budget for
students due to increasing cinema prices.
Consequently it is also uncommon for short
films to be show cased at cinemas unless it has
a relation to the main feature, short films are
mainly shown for young children to keep them
entertained before the main screening starts.
5. 4. What type of short film genre do you prefer?
Genre
Romance
Horror
Comedy
Action
Adventure
In correlation to our gender and age
questions, this could be the reasoning
behind our target audience preferably
watching a Romance film. This enables us
to follow the typical conventions of a
romance film while incorporating the drama
we originally insisted including to our plot.
While creating our characters we illustrate
key personality traits which are presented
upon other similar productions. To do this
successfully we will analysis our inspiration
from other productions in depth.
6. 5. Where do you prefer watching short films?
Platform
Online
TV
Cinema
It has become increasing popular to
watch films online, platforms such as
Netflix in particular but also Amazon
Prime are become a craze due to
easy accessibility to watch films on
the go due to the changes in
technologies therefore we would
make our short film available online
such as You Tube.
This may also be the correct way in
approaching our target audience
due to their age and popularity of
You Tube.
7. 6. Typically how long do you prefer short films to
be?
Length
7
minutes
6
minutes
5
minutes
Short films are usually between
anything from 4 minutes to 25.
However we decided our maximum
would be 7-8 minutes. Our target
audience preferably would watch a
short film having the running time of
7 minutes followed by 6 minutes.
Knowing this information gives us a
basic outline of how many scenes
we need to produce as well as the
number of shots including in the
scenes, this helps us to plan our
narrative and scripting.
8. 8. Do you prefer a positive ending?
Ending
Yes
No
Closing the disequilibrium our target
audience would prefer a positive ending,
this helps us with the initial ideas of how
we will end our short film while addressing
our target audience in the most
appropriate way. It is also uncommon
among films to display an negative ending
therefore we will portray the common
conventions of film.
9. 7. Fictional or Non- fictional?
Fictional or Non
Ficitonal
Non -
Fiction
Fiction
90% of the answers to question 7 was
Non- Fiction. The majority of films in
general are seen to be non- fictional
however a 40% of short films are
recognised to show certain educational
purpose although we are not studying
fictional short film and our target audience
is seen to prefer non- fictional films.
10. 9. Who do you most emphasise with more, male or
female?
Gender
Female
Male
Females are typically portrayed as the
weaker gender within film therefore the
audience is seen to emphasise more
towards female characters. However this
is one issue we have to face when
producing our film, we have decided that
our lead female character will have a
strong personality however the farther is
seen to be struggling with the concept
his daughter is going to die. Although this
initially goes against the idea that the
female is a weak, the farther and the
lead female’s boyfriend is seen to both
be protective over her therefore it still
conveys some typical conventions in
portraying female roles in film, however
still showing equality between both
genders due to the personality type of
our female character.
