Pre-Questionnaire Graphs
By Jaimie Hart
What gender are you?
We surveyed a number of
people from both people, but
as expected for a Drama, we
received more female
participants. This isn’t
unusual as films from the
Drama genre are considered
feminine.
What age range do you fit into?
For our survey, we recruited
more participants from the
younger end of our target
audience. This was
expected as most of the
people who participated
were people we knew, thus
there was more people from
our own age group.

This was positive feedback
from our audience as it
meant that our film had
codes and conventions of
the Drama genre, therefore
it successfully fits the genre
we wanted it to.

the result, we know that we should
aim to make the short film about 4-
5 minutes long.

The feedback for this
question allowed us to
identify the aspects of our
script which were weak and
allowed us to act upon it
and improve it. As well as
this, it allowed us to see
which aspect of our script
captivated the audience the
most.

The feedback for this
question assured us that we
had chosen the right
certification for our film,
therefore we didn’t alter it.
What aspect of our film is the weakest?
This question allowed us to
pick out the weakest aspect of
our script, which helped us
improve it. This result wasn’t
unexpected, as we had also
identified the title to be one of
the weaker aspects of our
script.
Do you think our film's narrative fits
the Drama genre?

Yes No
This result was important, as it
meant we had met the codes
and conventions of a Drama
film. This allowed us to see that
our research into the genre had
paid off, although we could do
some more just to ensure the
result was 100% positive.
Does the characters story evoke
emotion from you?
As our film is in the Drama
genre, this question carried
a lot of weight. From the
result, we can see that we
have successfully allowed
the audience to connect
with the character, through
the script alone.
Would you pay to go and watch our
short film in the cinema?
The final question revealed to
us that over all, we had
successfully created a script
for a film in the Drama genre
and motivated us to create a
spectacular final product.
Conclusion
 We will be using this feedback from our audience in order to improve our
film, as the audience’s feedback is crucial in making this a successful short
film, as they will be the ones who watch the final product. We will use
information, such as if the narrative makes sense, to alter the films plot in
order for it to become clearer to the audience, which thus improves the
films quality. Gathering information from your audience before creating a
short film is very important to creating a successful film, as they help us
recognise errors and areas which need improving.
