What attracts you to a film
the most?
The most popular thing that attracts
people to a film was the trailer. Because
my film is a short film of around 5
minutes, there is no need for a trailer or
all of the footage would need to be
used. Therefore, a poster is the next
best option for me.

going to put a lot of effort into choosing
the perfect image for my poster in this
case and let it be the main focus point.

would like to consider this and make
sure there is not a huge amount of text
on my poster to put my audience off.

element of the poster was quite diverse,
but the most popular thing again was
the image, closely followed by the
tagline. Again, I will make sure my
image is interesting and of good quality.

My audience said the colour scheme
that would suit my genre the most would
be dark colours, like black and grey,
contrasted with whites. I like this idea
and I think it would suit my genre and
storyline better than any of the other
options.

How important is a
poster? Would you see a
film just on the basis of a
poster advertisement?
The results for the importance of a film
poster was very close, but 5 people said
they would definitely see a film on the
basis of a poster and 5 said they this
was possible. In this case, I would make
sure that my poster looked very
professional and attractive, to persuade
people to watch the film.

When asked if they would prefer lots of information or
for the plot to be left to their own imagination, the
results were split, 7 said descriptive, with an obvious
title and the names of the actors and crew and 7 also
said they wanted very little text and everything to be
brief and mysterious. In this case, I think I will have a
mixture so both sides are catered for. Personally, I
think I would like everything to be very mysterious, with
little hints about the plot and storyline of the film.

The majority of people responded with image based when asked what kind of poster they would be most attracted to. I would like to consider this and make sure there is not a huge amount of text on my poster to put my audience off.

Again, I will make sure my image is interesting and of good quality.

Dark: black, white, grey Light: white, red, green Bright: yellow, orange, blue Just black and white My audience said the colour scheme that would suit my genre the most would be dark colours, like black and grey, contrasted with whites. I like this idea and I think it would suit my genre and storyline better than any of the other options.

The results for the importance of a film poster was very close, but 5 people said they would definitely see a film on the basis of a poster and 5 said they this was possible. In this case, I would make sure that my poster looked very professional and attractive, to persuade people to watch the film.

Info like descriptive tagline, obvious title, actors/crew Brief title and plot line, very little text included When asked if they would prefer lots of information or for the plot to be left to their own imagination, the results were split, 7 said descriptive, with an obvious title and the names of the actors and crew and 7 also said they wanted very little text and everything to be brief and mysterious. In this case, I think I will have a mixture so both sides are catered for. Personally, I think I would like everything to be very mysterious, with little hints about the plot and storyline of the film.
